Offer Khao Jee Pate/Banh Mi sandwiches, authentic Thai/Laos/Vietnamese food for grab and go or order from our full dinner menu. Available grocery items and Asian products. Carryout and delivery Wednesday thru Monday 4:00 pm to 9:00pm.
I wanted to try their milk bread today, 2/16/25. I'm very disappointed! The bread was dry, and I don't recommend it. Felt like they sold me old bread just to get rid of it even though the lable has an expiration date of 2/20/25. It would be better for their customers to have the date of when it was baked. For $8.99, I expected more.
Hadn't tried out this restaurant yet so gave it a go with a friend. The place looks like an Asian grocery store vibe and the restaurant is in the middle.
Service was prompt. Got seeated right away and orders all came out correct.
The food portions were very generous for the price. Plates were definitely shareable.
I had the pineapple fried rice. It was pretty good. Has a few spots where the sauce was clumpy with the rice. Other than that it was delicious and would recommend it if you like curry flavored fried rice. I've had a few different styles of pineapple fried rice now and this one was a safe middle ground. Nothing unique or special about it but is a good safe choice.
They never disappoint. The food is delicious, but expect to wait. Ordered food online and went to pick it up, it was an additional 20 minutes. Knowing that I'll just show up later next time. I will definitely be going back. The yellow curry was fantastic, the pho was delicious, the Bàhn Mì was tasty and the fried spring rolls were stuffed. Love the food. I plan on shopping in the market as well next time.
They do dinners and catering. I'm considering them for an event and wanted to give them a try before the same. They did forget my vigor juice and offered to refund the same.
We ordered the pud see ewe, sticky rice, the curry egg rolls and the Sai-oua banh mi and the sweet potato fries.
Our order was ready on time and the food was delicious. This place came recommended and I will continue to support them (because again...delicious).
This was a tough one....I have heard good things about this place. Walked in, I didn't know it was a little market as well...very cool. I stood there waiting, do I seat myself or?so I asked the cashier, who didn't seem to understand me, asked do I just take a menu...no answer, so I said table for 1, that seemed to work. I tried asking about the menu, but the young waitress couldn't really help, so I took a gamble. Lol I had the Tom kha soup, flavor was great, but it only had mushrooms, scallions, and a couple pieces of cilantro, the broth was very good though. I also had the Lao sausage Bahn mi...amazing...hands down the best thing I had today!
They've turned into a grocery store. They still obviously make food but now most of their business is takeout. They do have a couple tables you can eat at though. We ordered food and then ate it in the Cafe. Really great quality. The curry egg rolls were solid and the beef pho was the real deal. I will definitely be back for takeout or to grab some items from the grocery store.

Best pad see ew
The entire menu is excellent. Thai Basil Fried Rice is phenomenal. Their Tom Kha and Panang Curry flavors live rent-free in my memory forever. So good.
A staple. Never had a bad meal or service.
Best SE Asian food in Milwaukee
Takeout food was absolutely amazing. Everything seemed very fresh. The crab Rangoons were really good. Steam buns are amazing and really big lol . I'd recommend this place to anyone without a second guess. It's a must try.
I learned more about food from eating here, which is awesome. Their Sesame Chicken is uniquely good, and the Crying Tiger was such a surprise - I had to learn to cook that one so I wouldn't go broke eating here too often! The mango sticky rice is also some of the best I have had.
We just got home. Opened our Pad see Ew and it tasted like plain noodles with sugar.. It lacked soy sauce and oyster sauce etc. Not much flavor, the sugar overpowered everything. Felt like i was eating sugar noodles. We couldn't finish it. 33.00 down the drain. 😭😩
The curry hits every time. Everything, really. Never a problem! Love it.
Ran by some friendly ladies. The food is excellent - I really like their fried rice and curries. I wish I could eat here every day!
This is my new place to reward myself. I loved my banh mi and my sticky rice and my banana bread. Everything was amazing and I can't wait to go back. The staff was very sweet and helpful.
THIS IS A MUST HAVE. I have traveled and lived in SE Asia 6 months of my life. This might possibly be the top 3 meals I've had in my life... and also potentially the best SE asian food I've ever had. Thai food is so hard to come by thats actually authentic and "Thai food like", The Nam Kow is beyond. It's 3 meals in one. Like please get this one... The Red curry was freaking amazing. The fried rice was freaking amazing. The crispy duck was terrific. The price point is great. The service was wonderful. I don't really think its an eat in kind of place, but I have been floored by how good the food is as take out. They have so many additions to customize your order as you like. The 3 level hits. Spicy perfection for the spice lovers out there. Lots of sauce to boot! I would give this 100 stars if I could. THE BEST SE ASIAN FOOD ever ever. <3
Caution: No matter how long your take out order will take, they will tell you it will take 20-25 minutes. The most recent time I ordered from here, I asked them multiple times how long it would take and they assured me it would be 20-25 minutes. An hour later our order was finally ready. This is the second time in a row that's happened. I won't make the same mistake a third time.

This place is honestly amazing. The ingredients are super fresh, the flavors are incredible, and despite the menu being huge I’ve never had a bad meal. One of my favorite restaurants in the whole city.
I love this place.
Ordered take out - felt like the noodles in the pad see ew were overcooked and the sauce was too salty. The Pad Thai and spring rolls we tried were ok.
Pick up was easy and there is a little convenience store inside.
So not satisfied with the food not like any usual Chinese joint here in Milwaukee.
This is one of those places where I can try something new every time, and it's always incredibly flavorful. I tried my friend's dish, Nam Kow with ham, and it was the best tasting dish I've ever had! Everything is so tasty, and the staff is quite friendly.
Absolutely the best Thai Ive had in Milwaukee- so excited to have discovered this incredible find in Wauwatosa *
I've been coming here for years and have loved it since my first order.
Some of the best Thai in the area. I love that it’s authentic and close to home 😊💛
They don’t give you enough noodles for the broth and they make you pay for sauces they’re supposed to provide… overall I wouldn’t go back.
12/8/23 The quality is sliding downward. The fresh shrimp spring rolls were poorly made, stuffed with too much lettuce and soggy. The cucumber salad had large lime rind left in salad. I am also annoyed that the carryout prepay asks for a tip before I receive the order which has been incorrect in recent past. If a tip is earned (order correct & ready when scheduled) I now pay in cash. Clearly this not the same family/owners as in 2020.
1/2/2016 This place is about as close to eating in Laos as it gets. Terrific taste, super presentation, generous portions, very attentive staff. Be warned though you will be asked "how spicy, 1 to 4"? Do not say 4 unless you really like sensation of placing hot lava in your mouth and through intestinal tract. I will come back again and highly recommend.
Great spot, highly recommend the pineapple fried rice and the basil fried rice
The best Crab Rangoon in the hands down. No debate needed.
IMO The best in the city!
Always awesome food in a timely manner, served with a smile. They have a lot of hidden gems in the market, try some new flavors! Definitely recommend.
We love this place for take out and dining in.
The server was very nice and accommodating. I got one of their curry dishes and it was absolutely delicious, huge helpings so definitely worth the price. They have lots of options and it all sounded super delicious. Couldn’t recommend this place enough honestly.
Was there yesterday and food is great. Good price and service was good.
Hadn't tried out this restaurant yet so gave it a go with a friend. The place looks like an Asian grocery store vibe and the restaurant is in the middle.

This place is amazing. Food was great, service was friendly and fast.
Cool little market and restaurant. Small selection in grocery, but some nice essentials for cooking.
The restaurant was delicious! It was our first time. It will definitely be a new regular spot for when we have to visit Children's Hospital as we often do for my daughter.
My new favorite spot best Pho I ever had
Everything is delicious! Service is very kind and welcoming! Very clean. The only thing I miss is the buffet that once was!
Great food and service
Best Thai, Vietnamese & Laotian food in Milwaukee. Authentic and fresh ingredients.
Mekong Cafe is part grocery, part food counter, part sit down restaurant. And it’s so good.
I saw a lot of people doing take out orders as well, so that’s something to keep in mind.
The shrimp fresh rolls, curry egg rolls, pud thai, panang red curry, pho are all excellent. Will be back to try more!
Really cute place with delicious authentic Thai food. The grocery area has some cool finds. Wish they would sell their hot chili oil!
Love this place. Their food is great and delivery is always fresh and on time. 🥰
This is by far and away the best Asian food in the Milwaukee area. Since moving to the Midwest, my partner and I have longed for Thai that is reminiscent of the east coast and we have finally found it after sifting through a ton of duds. Flavors are authentic, delicious, and service was fast and friendly. The atmosphere is cute and relaxed and fun to peruse the store after/before your meal. The spice levels are legit (a 3 is a true 3). So happy to have found this gem!
First time visiting Milwaukee and wanted Lao food. Found free street parking on the side of the restaurant.
The restaurant and market is combined in 1. I always look for restaurants with this concept when I travel.
I had papaya salad, sticky rice and Lao sausages. Homemade taste and flavor just like my mom would make.
I would recommend and come back when I’m in the area again!
I have loved Mekong Cafe since they opened years ago, and it feels like they just keep getting better! Thank you for being so inclusive with vegetarian options. And shout out to the host. He is always so kind when I come to pickup my order.
We had Mekong for the first time after moving to the area. AMAZING. There online ordering system was so easy! The green curry with chicken was absolutely delicious (except I think I’ll go for mild spice level next time 🥵) the fried spring rolls were so good and so crispy and my husbands sesame chicken was the best we’ve had. Can’t wait to order again and try more dishes!
Great place
Great food and little market
Great Thai foos
If you want spice, this is the place! So great! We've loved everything we've tried!
Bangkok noodles medium heat. Extraordinary!!
Let's just say that Pho is NOT their specialty. Pre cooked meat already in the broth, no basil!, no sauces, no onion. Just a very salty beef type broth with none of the classic pho spices, very disappointing. Lettuce? In the container of noodles...
Coconut shrimp were just to greasy.
This place is amazing found it by accident one day but can honestly say it has become a favorite restaurant for me and my family and friends. They have a wide variety of foods drinks and snacks that are all really great.
Delish!
I went to the Mekong Cafe with one other person and we split the Chicken Scewers, fried rice, and the curry egg rolls. I personally fell in love with the curry egg rolls because it was a crunchy bite but with a soft inside. This meal was a 10/10. We also got boba drinks, I got a Taro Shake with tapioca pearls and my friend got a watermelon and pineapple mix for their boba. This cafe is wonderful, it has so many menu options and some many things to eat . You should definitely try it.
Love their food!!!
Have had takeout a couple times and it's been fantastic! I had pineapple fried rice -- it's delicious, with cashews, fresh veggies and just the right amount of spice. The kids had Pud Kee Mow (noodle dish), Mekong wings and a spring roll. We all enjoyed an excellent meal and recommend highly! Online ordering is easy; staff at Mekong are helpful and friendly as well.
Quaint cafe with good food and great service.
That bahn mi burger is the one!! Fire!!!
Delicious Thai food. Highly recommended!
Favorite Thai food in the area! I can't stop ordering the Veggie Lover's khao jee pâté and the massaman curry with tofu 🤤
Ordered online and was given s pick up time 30 minutes later. I arrived for pickup and was told my sandwiches were being made. I could see the sandwich maker on the phone for several minutes while I was waiting. Eight minutes after my arrival, she came out to tell me that they were out of one of the main ingredients for one of the sandwiches. It took another 10 to 12 minutes to get the order.
The sandwiches were just ok. They didn't have nearly as many of the vegetables that I have come to expect on a bahn mi.
I also ordered 2 orders of fries. One order was about half the size of the other. Generally disappointed.
Great food, order was ready on time, service was good!
Love the pad Thai, volcano wings, and pineapple fried rice
Great food! I've never been disappointed. The crab Rangoon is the best I've ever had. There is also a nice grocery area for some specialty items that are harder to find
Top notch take out! Best pho in town
The food is awesome, i had the beef pho and a banh mi sandwich..delicious.
Staff is friendly..its also a small store and deli in the back
Amazing curries!
Best pho
Food was good, everything is served takeout style and there are tables to sit and eat. The store is small but has lots of asian foods not commonly available elsewhere.
Food is yummy and they have a small grocery shop inside. Everyone is super nice.
Their pud Thai is to die for. The sirracha crab crangoons are the absolute best ever! We tried the curry egg rolls and they are a new favorite as well. Staff is so nice and helpful! Can’t wait to try the rest of their menu.
Just found a 4 inch thick black hair in my bahn mi. Was very dissatisfied
This restaurant is seriously the best customer service I’ve ever had. The cashiers are incredibly sweet and the food is phenomenal. We had a mix up in an order and asked for a switch out and they delivered it to us!! Next time I come in I’m gonna give an enormous tip. They’re seriously the best.
Khao jee pate #4 Veggie Lovers is the best sandwich I have ever had all time.
Evidently due to the dread Labor Shortage it is takeout only but you can eat your take out there in a lovely little windowed corner. The food is freaking fantastic. I have to have it spicy which evidently produces the Lisa Simpson "I can see through time" effect on others. But they make it mild for the rest of you. The soups and curries are extra especially to be recommended. My favorite is the green. Also a bit of a SE Asian grocery store. Lovely people.
SOOOOOO GOOD!!!! I absolutely love it here. My grandmother and I got the #8 (henry sandwich) and a small side fried rice and it was absolutely delicious. The inside of the store is nice and cozy and the people there are so welcoming and nice. Please go there I love them!!!
Absolutely amazing chow! Found looking on Google maps for a restaurant near my airbnb. Whadda lucky score!!!
It's a little Asian grocery store that sells authentic Laotian food to go. Very friendly helpful guy at the register and a huge menu including the Laotian version of bahn mie. They are also huge and delicious n come on the tastiest baguettes. A single sandwich filled me up for lunch and I'm a little pig.
We also got larb and garlic stir fry for supper. Both are huge and will probably make left overs.
Will return again tomorrow - the highest of recommendations!!
Hint- do not be afraid to order spicy...we got medium and needed more heat.
Ordered delivery. On time. Hot and oh so good.
So many great dishes, so fresh, at great prices too! The worst part is making a decision.
Their shop carries an awesome array of hard-to-find asian culinary, from dried mushrooms to frozen fish, sauces to banana leaves, all extremely well priced.
I had a Coconut Pineapple Shake, veggie eggrolls & Pud Kee Mow
The shake was delicious. Perfect thickness. Tasty.
Eggrolls filled to perfection. Crisp. Great dipping sauce. I love a great eggroll
Pud kee mow. The noodles were great. The sauce was light yet very flavorful. Not too much. Enough to coat the noodles and meat. You may need extra if you are a sauce lover. The meal was delicious. I would definitely go back
There is also a market when you walk in. Lots of authentic items and some fresh and frozen produce. Great gem.
Baby Governor!
Great market, not a lot of supplies but enough to make a great dinner. The restaurant in the back has amazing food!
Nice customer service and variety really recommend going there nice owners and workers.
I hadn't been here for years because I moved far enough away. I was in the area so I stopped for lunch. I was disappointed that there's only a small place to dine in now, but who can blame a business for doing what they need to do to survive? Luckily the food was just as good as I remember it and made me wish Waukesha had food like this. Had the Panang Curry lunch special. Enough food for two meals and it was amazing. Next time I'll bring a grocery list to go along with my takeout!
Large menu selection. Food is delicious and customer service is great. Check it out if you're in the area 🙂
The pho here is really great!
They charge me twice for the items that I only got one, and curiously it was the most expensive of all. Also I saw several produce that were expired more than 4 years ago.
WOW WOW WOW OH AND YUM! 10000000% recommended this place, not only can you find some goods in the store but their food is to die for me. Flavorful, filling and out of this world.
Forgot to mention not to put fish sauce in the Thai Red Curry I ordered and I smelled even after coming home!
I can’t speak highly enough of Mekong. They have been one of my favorite places to get food from for years now. Delivery is always quick, and has been very considerate to being contact free for me since the pandemic began. Ordering online is super easy. and most of all the food is always phenomenal!
Green curry and papaya salad are SO good. I’m craving it now!
I hurt my knee this week and ordered delivery directly through Mekong's website, which said the estimated wait time was an hour. I figured I'd hobble downstairs in half an hour to wait at the door. They delivered in 15 minutes and I was still upstairs, but the delivery person knocked and called outside until I was able to make it down (at the same time my housemate got home and was able to take the bag). I am so used to DoorDash leaving bags unattended at the front door, I really appreciated the service to wait till the food was delivered TO someone. And of course the Pud Thai was delicious. Thank you!
The pineapple boba tea milkshake is great!
Pho carryout, it was delicious.
Not good. Cold as dry banh mi. Please cut ur meat into thinner slice and add more sauce. Pho has no flavor. Would not be coming back.
Great food. Started ordering here when Covid started, and it's been a good addition to many of the great local places. They have a really unique selection of food, and there's still so much to try because I've found so many favourites. The garlic stir fry is a new one for sure! The only downside is sometimes the spice levels can vary a lot, but I'm prolly just ordering something that's supposed to be spicier than fried rice! Just take it low with new items, and you'll find what you like.
Total Gem in East Tosa! I've been wanting to try it forever and finally got to last night. Two of my daughters and I tried:
Tom Kha soup - outstanding! We tried with chicken and veggie and both were amazingly flavorful
Panang Curry - so good! Creamy and flavorful and slightly sweet so kids liked it too.
Pud See Ew - I’ve never had this before and it was so good! Absolutely loved the homemade fresh noodles and so did my girls
Green Curry - loved this so much! Lots of flavor, good depth
Appetizer sampler - this was for the kids and they loved it. Spring rolls were super generous. Came with 3 sauces.
Boba fruits- girls loved
It's a very warm and friendly cafe with a neat Asian grocery in the center. Parking was easy on the side street.
Can't wait to go back and try the Banh-Mis more noodle dishes and Laotian food.
Nicest owners, hard working people. Love the new store and still get the food to go! It’s the best :)
We order from the takeout menu from time to time. One of our favorite places definitely with the value of their lunch menu and bold flavors!
Incredibly delicious!!!
Loved this place as a cafe, now great as a small shop.
Pho disappointed. Fresh spring rolls disappointed. Came back disappointed.
Food is made fresh, would recommend ordering at least 30 mins ahead of time if you need pick up. We ordered a few dishes to sample and everything tasted great!
The egg rolls will actually change your life
They have very good food yes
Best Tom Yum and Tom Kha soups I've ever had.
Asked if they had a certain item, they didn't have it but were willing to order it for me specifically got to love that!!!
one of my milwaukee favorite. best lunch special with quality food for the low!
Some of the best, authentic Asian cuisine in Milwaukee. We've been coming here for years.
Some of our favorites: wonton soup, Bankok noodles, pineapple fried rice, Tom Kha soup, Mekong sesame chicken, Pud Kee Mow, and Thai tea (hot, or iced with milk and boba). YUM
They tend to be heavy handed with the spice. I only ever order level 1 and it's plenty spicy for my taste.
Good south east Asian cuisine at a fair price! Delicious food and friendly staff
I always stop when I'm in area. I love their Fresh Spring Rolls and Pud Thai! Fyi, take out only.
Always delicious with a range of choices, including spice levels and vegetarian options. The curry egg rolls are unique and delicious. I always get the pad see ew, which is SO good. They used to have an unbelievably good Thai buffet, but that is sadly gone due to COVID-19. However, they had the genius idea to convert the dining space into an Asian market! I like to show up a little early to my pickup time so I can shop. This is a staple in my take-out rotation!
Quiet, Peaceful, laid back atmosphere. Food was ok. It was my first time trying their cuisine.
Mekong is the best Asian food in Milwaukee. I moved away and came back for the day and made sure to stop and do a to go order before I left. Nam Kow, Fresh Spring Rolls, Pad Thai, Pad See Ew... all incredible. I miss being blocks away! Keep this place alive.
Mekong Cafe is truly the best Thai Restaurant in Milwaukee. I have eaten Thai in Florida, California, Washington, D.C., Georgia, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Ohio, and Indiana, and will put Mekong's Thai Curry dishes against any others in the world. They are that tasty, reasonably price, and the restaurant has such a phenomenal staff. As a vegetarian of over 23 years, I have never felt so comfortable to walk into a restaurant and ask them to prepare food that meets my dietary needs as I have been able to do here, since I first started coming here back in 2014 as a weekly regular. When I introduced my husband to this place, he also became hooked. He is a meat-eater and loves his steak. The Mekong Steak Hot Sizzling Plate is his favorite with his Thai Iced Tea. We adore sharing a Hot Pot of Tom Kha Veggie or Tofu Soup as an appetizer. Even though we no longer live in town, when we come to visit, Mekong is an absolute necessity in our cuisine pleasure. Thanks for always being excellent quality in portion, taste, price, and service. We will always come back for more.
Very disappointed tried to order for the first time at about 8:15 on a wed night it's supposed to be open till 9 so I figured it was plenty early when I got there I had the distinct feeling I was bothering the people who were there then when I open my order which was a $70 order my Laotian sausage was still frozen when asked to have a hot I was told it wasn't able to come that way anymore cuz the kitchen was closed also the pack is which was described online as toasted with coconut and banana leaf were given to me hold in a plastic bag I was told to heatthem up in the microwave. I tried to ask for chopped peanuts which I'm pretty sure most any Laotian or Thai restaurant would have in the kitchen and I was told I couldn't get those either I really felt like they did not want me there
This place has some Delicious lemongrass ribs and chicken... However they weren't consistent with when they cooked it. I was told ever weekend they would cook it and place it out to buy. They were being inconsistent and eventually stopped cooking it. It was the only reason I was going there, oh and the custard sticky rice. But the food is decent.
We LOVE Mekong! We've been going for years and the food is always delicious. We have tried other restaurants with similar menus, but we always come back to Mekong. It's our favorite!!! Their market is really expanding and I've enjoyed having the market to try new things.
Customer service has improved, very authentic Vietnamese and Laos food. . .cảm ơn!! My only concern is the spice level -- I keep ordering the papaya salad and I like spicy, but a level 2 seems the same as a 4, since I've ordered both.
This place has some of the best Thai food you'll ever eat. Plus they've changed into little grocery store with lots of items to purchase that are unique and from outside the country so it's really cool experience going to this location.
We have been coming here for years and I like to say that my family grew up on many of the dishes we enjoyed at Mekong Cafe. Red curry, chicken for protein, heat level 4 is our favorite. Lots of freshly steamed sticky rice and a cold drink to tame a fiery tongue completes a fond meal.
The staff is courteous and attentive. Having relatives who immigrated from Asia, and graciously being offered more food than we could possibly eat on many family occasions, I can say that Mekong Cafe brings back the memory of family, laughter and good times.
More than anything, what we eat grounds us and reminds us of where we came from and who we are. Mekong Cafe helps us to remember good times, absent friends and family.
To Mekong Cafe, thank you for serving and feeding us. It is important for you to know your value to our family and the community.
This place is amazing! The Tom Ka soup is so delicious, that I ate it with rice and added my own veggies and tofu to make the broth last longer. Their Pud Thai is my favorite! Next time, I'll try their sticky purple rice dessert. It's hard to find purple rice where I'm from.
Their grocery store is great and I was able to find agar agar (great for vegan dishes). They pack a lot of selection in the space they have, and last time I was there I picked up some cinnamon sticks, dried mushrooms, sauces, variety of curry bases (the red curry in a small tub is my favorite), and black rice. They have some fresh veggies, too.
Tried ordering food for takeout a little after 8. Called the store and was put on hold for at least 5 minutes and then they hung up on me. Tried to call again and the exact same thing happened again. By the third time I called it was about 8:20 and this time my call “went through”. I asked if I could place an order for takeout and they said they were closing the kitchen. I told them aren’t they open until 9 and they said yes but the kitchen is closed. Annoyed because I’m trying to support their business but they hung up on me twice and kept delaying me from ordering. Also why state they you’re open until 9 when you stop taking orders at 8:20?
