Thai Restaurant coming soon.
This is a hidden gem in downtown South Charleston, WV. The food is exceptionally good, and the price is reasonable. Ample parking space. Most people who eat here are business people, so that should tell they appreciate good food. I ordered blue sticky rice with mango (see picture), and it was really good. I tried drunken noodles that's supposedly spicier than Pad See Ew, but it wasn't. But overall, it's a good place to have Thai food.
I try to order something different every time I go. Some dishes have been good and others have been great. I've yet to find anything bad. I hadn't tried their sushi until now and I've been missing out. This is now my favorite local sushi spot.
The decor is a little bland but it's clean and the service is always friendly.
My favorite hidden gem in Charleston. Nicest staff ever!! Everyone welcomes you and the servers work as a crew and help each other so everyone is always taken care of happy. The sushi is so fresh and delicious! I try to make it at last once a week. I came for the sushi and left with a love for Thai food as well. Try it all and you won’t be disappointed! P
Their drunkin noodles are excellent! The appetizers were also very good. My husband said the sushi was great too. I was surprised to find such great Thai food here. I think it's better than the Thai food I get in Columbus.
I had the pleasure of meeting the owners of Elephant Thai outside the restaurant, and they couldn’t have been nicer. Once I learned they had a restaurant, I had to check it out—and wow, I’ve been hooked ever since. The food and service are consistently outstanding, and it’s become a weekly favorite for my family.
The sushi chef, who honed his craft at the Ritz Carlton in Florida, brings an incredible level of skill and presentation to every dish. You can truly taste the expertise in every bite.
If you’re debating trying this place, stop hesitating—just go! You’ll find an array of delicious options waiting for you, and their lunch specials are a fantastic deal. We’re lucky to have such a gem in the area!
I’m a big fan of Elephant Thai. It has been extremely consistent over the last few years. The flavors are rich and delicious. I’ve eaten at some great Thai restaurants and some average ones in my lifetime and I consider Elephant a really good Thai restaurant. We order summer rolls, spring rolls, avocados roll (sushi), pad thai, Thai fried rice or a massaman curry. I recommend them all. This place has a strong local following and will be busy at 6pm. Go early or late.
Single diner discrimnatory. I am always ordering three courses meals, a drink, and tipping 80 percent of my meal. Owner discriminates and does not allow person to sit at a booth - two people required. Many open tables and booths today.

Great food at great lication, served by great people. My only complant is that it -- like so many restaurants -- is too expensive. $14.99 for a basic stir fry or noodle lunch is unreasonable.
Their drunkin noodles are excellent! The appetizers were also very good. My husband said the sushi was great too. I was surprised to find such great Thai food here. I think it's better than the Thai food I get in Columbus.

If I could give zero stars I would this place has the worst service ever. Watch your bill to because they add tips onto your actual bill before you even pay, so that when you pay and get your receipt back you add another tip.
The food was great! The customer service was amazing! #tastehehetravel
I was in last week and sat at the bar for dinner and a drink. I ordered Pad Woon Sen and it was delicious! The atmosphere is great and it was really fun watching the Sous chefs preparing the sushi! Elephant Thai is a great place to eat and is owned and run by a wonderful family.

Absolutely awesome restaurant and incredible staff! Their food quality is consistently fresh, certainly no better sushi in town. Get the sashimi bento box—you won’t be hungry after that, and the seaweed salad is fantastic. Love this place, definitely one of our “go-to’s” for lunch.
Tried this place based on a friends recommendation, AWESOME. Very tasty food, I will go back to eat again.
Decent, Not the best but satisfying none the less.
First time I've tried Thai food. My new favorite restaurant. The food has been delicious every time I've visited. Service is good. Restaurant is clean. I love eating here. I would definitely recommend.
Everytime we go with parties of 3-4 I request a booth because my spinal cord stimulator and nerve damage bothers me when I sit against wooden backs, I explain this and the red headed guy with the beard says we get busy and booths are for six or more parties and it’s the regular table or nothing even though there are parties of two sitting at the booths and also booths are open. I simply say I will go somewhere else and they say ok with no regard. I enjoy the food there but do not accept the total disregard for my handicap.
Good food. This is an amended review. They corrected my issue. Manager lady was very accommodating.
Excellent authentic cuisine
Elephant Thai has quickly become one of our favorite restaurants! We’ve had the pleasure of both dining in and getting takeout, and both experiences were exceptional. The portions are generous, and the food is always fresh and flavorful.
The Pad See Ew and Drunken Noodles are absolute standouts—so delicious with just the right amount of spice! Their Thai tea is, of course, fantastic, as you’d expect. All in all, I think the prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food you receive.
On top of the great food, the staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, making every visit enjoyable. Whether you’re dining in or ordering out, Elephant Thai is a top-notch spot for amazing Thai cuisine!
Very good food and nice atmosphere. We enjoyed everything, but the shashimi and Thai curries were especially good
I had a ginger shrimp stir fry and it was great! We had some vegetarians in our party and they liked how the tofu was cooked.

Try the Drunken noodles 🍜 😋
I love this restaurant. They have the best, freshest Sushi in town and my favorite is the Poke Bowl. You will not be dissapointed
Special trip this evening to try the pumpkin curry…delicious!!!
Our group enjoyed everything. Total deliciousness!!!
I have been here before a few years ago when they just opened. I enjoyed the food then. I decided to take my family to dinner here yesterday, since I'm visiting home from our of town. We stood by the greeters post and waited for 10 minutes without being acknowledged, welcomed, addressed, nothing. We left. The young lady was attending to a table close enough to the door where we were. A young man was also close by. Someone could have at least said to us, "we'll be with you shortly" or something of the sort. But to look at us and not even a word, I was really disappointed.
Chicken Satay(shared) Chicken Thai Basil, Chicken Cashew, Rasberry cheesecake (shared)-all delicious and reasonably priced. Service kind and efficient. Atmosphere was relaxed, clean, and comfortable.
Excellent, friendly waitstaff, prompt service of food, refills offered of beverages, and all food was of excellent quality. An outstanding meal and I look forward to coming back. Food our party ate included the chicken satay, the wonton soup, the tuna poke bowl (a bit spicy, yum), conch sashimi (unusual and delicious!), and blue sticky rice with custard. All of it was delicious.
Good flavor on sweet sour chicken
Good food, good service, good selection.
No complaints.
I had the red curry. It was good. I travel to Thailand often, soooo … I don’t expect it to be as good as that. The restaurant is small and filled up quickly. The portions were large, not just mine, but others that I observed. I’d go again.
Great sushi and service.
Got the coconut soup with tofu, and husband got the panag curry. Both were really good.
The worst service.
Was excited to try this restaurant, host greeted us with an arrogant attitude and took my number to be called for availability, after waiting over 45 minutes walking around South Charleston on a 90° day, we gave up and went elsewhere, never did receive a call. I suspect this may have been based on our appearance, which is unfortunate because our money is just as green.
Delicious! Chicken green curry and summer rolls were perfect
Hands down the best Thai food around Charleston! The Pad See Ew and yellow curry are always delicious! Service is always fast and friendly. This is a MUST try restaurant, and when you try it once you'll definitely be back.
Great food. Spicing is perfect. Nice service.
Drunken noodles and Thai iced tea were great!
When it’s 91 degrees outside and your server tells you that no, the air conditioner isn’t on because “the door keeps opening.”And you are never checked on throughout the meal: “how is everything?”, “would you like a refill?” Lastly, not even a “thank you for visiting.” Food was adequate, but being treated nicely and being comfortable also matter.
This will be the first and only time we eat at this restaurant. If it hadn't been for the person at the door, we would not have been waited on at all. The one time we did see our waiter, they dropped the food and just left. No one came back to check on us, ask about drink refills or anything else. Worst service we have EVER experienced. Food was okay but honestly I have had better Thai other places.
First time for me. I had Drunken Noodles and my lady had sushi. The meal was outstanding.
By far the best Thia restaurant in Charleston area and it’s not even close.
New fav place to eat in the area.
Great thai place in Charleston. Servers and hostess were extremely friendly with great big smiles.
The thai portions were large and had the perfect spice. I ordered the spicy and it was like a six at other places I have been.
My dad got the sushi and he liked it as well. Definitely worth a visit
The only real Thai that I've had in WV. Pad see ew and basil rice is incredible.
It was a great place to have Asian food..loved it..the tast is so good and the portion is good and satisfying..I got rolls( spider roll and shrimp )both were amazing my husband got the red curry with chicken was full of flavors and really good.
We arrived right before their very busy dinner time, We had Chicken Satay for appetizer with peanut and cucumber sauces to dip. I had the Massaman Chicken Curry. So delicious! Some places I have tried the curry sauce seems a little watered down, not here. Very flavorful. My husband had the red curry and said it was someone the best he had. * Note I did not try the peanut sauce and ordered my curry with no peanuts, but I liked the cucumber sauce with the Satay. Definitely will be back soon.
Small dinning area but the food was great.
Very unprofessional. They let two other groups who came after us have tables. We went in and put our names down before anyone. Two other groups came later after us (we were next to be seated). But they seated the groups that came in later after us. We went in to ask and let them know nicely and were walked to a table to only be told the party that came after us was actually getting that table (after already walking us over to table that they were still cleaning). We were treated with disrespect and talked down to for no reason. They were unprofessional and unorganized. It’s not okay to talk down to us and tell us to leave when we ask a question and bring up what happened. Not fair to us for their lack of planning and not knowing how to seat people. We were not rude and only asked/brought up what happened. Even if they let a bigger party have the big booth, they still let a party of two (less than our party) have a table they literally walked us to. If you’re trying to give us a table that’s smaller and we keep waiting and waiting. We could be there for over an hour and they’d let other people go who came in way after us have a table? That’s not fair to make someone wait that way because the host is confused and doesn’t know how to seat people. And then to have another coworker come over and instantly tell us we can leave. Anyone should be allowed to ask what’s going on without being attacked. If you have a specific policy then it should be told to customers which never happened. Don’t harass customers who simply asked questions.
Always great food and service.
One of our favorites, the crab rangoons, the fried rice, the curry, the sushi, the drunken noodles...everything is always delicious !
Excellent Thai, Asian cuisine.
The Tom Yum soup, and Red Curry. Excellent. They cook with fish sauce, and it adds a zing. Musci was lovely, jazz, and the waitstaff were attentive, and worked as a team to get food to the table. Lovley experience. Plus, I collect elephant statues, so the art was also to my liking. A bit on the pricy side, but with mostly fresh ingredients, I can't vouch for the bamboo shoots, but mushrooms and eggplant were lovely. Give em a try, worth checking out.
The best Tom Kha I've ever had!
A real gem! Attentive and pleasant service. Food was delicious with lots of options: noodles, fried rice, rice dishes, sushi, noodle soup, Thai beverages, dessert and more. I got the sushi and sashimi bento box which was yummy and a real bargain.
I had previously been to the Elephant Thai Restaurant for a weekday lunch break with a friend who eats there fairly often. We both enjoyed the food & thought Hubs would like it for a change of pace as well.
The restaurant was only semi-busy when we arrived a little after 4pm on a Sunday. We were immediately told we could not sit in a booth as preferred for some unexplained reason. We later found out (just before we finished eating) this was due to several prior reservations taking up those spaces. Our wait to order & for the food to arrive seemed a little longer than usual, but it finally arrived.
Our friend ordered Basil Chicken, which is spicy & she is used to eating. When it arrived, her meal had only 2 very small pieces of basil in it, which was not what she was used to. So she asked for some more & an untrimmed 3"-4" piece of stem on a saucer was dropped off on our table as the server quickly walked past us. Our friend had also asked that the spice be slightly reduced, but it was almost too spicy for even her to eat &, trust me, she really likes spicy foods!
At my friend's recommendation, I ordered Chicken Pad Thai since I like rice noodles & it isn't a spicy dish. My meal was barely lukewarm when it arrived & the noodles were all stuck together in a large, orange colored clump in a very cold to the touch bowl. The flavor was rather unimpressive, imho.
Hubs had the sweet & sour pork which he liked. It looked more like a soup in the bowl due to all the extra sauce, but he enjoyed the flavor. It wasn't too spicy & it arrived at a proper temperature. So I guess the score for the meal that day was 1.5 out of 3.
We were there about 1hr 15min. By the time we left, practically every table & booth, and the sushi bar seating in the back was filled. They definitely needed more wait staff on duty even if it was Sunday evening.
Fantastic food. Fair price for portion size. Service was efficient. Definitely will go back
Love this restaurant. One of my favorites in the Kanawha Valley.
The food was very good. We got there at lunch rush, but were still seated and served promptly.
Delicious food! Very fresh!
Delicious and large portions!
From my 1st phone to call to inquire about their Rice noodles, availability of subbing Gluten-free Soy Sauce and a few other Curry Questions; Elephant Thai Scored 9 out of 10 for Me!!! I tried the Beef Drunken Noodles (sub GF Soy Sauce) and the Tom Yum Noodles 🍜 Soup Minus the Meatballs . Just Delicious 😋 The only reason for a 9 Out of 10.. I had a Longer than expected drive home, the To-Go containers didn't hold up well to the heat of the Soup/Noodles. I will definitely be going back. Pineapple Curry n Sushi Next ❤️
We randomly stopped in for lunch and this place did not disappoint! We arrived hungry, the service was prompt, the food was tasty and the portions were good. The egg rolls were good and my shrimp curry was delicious and appropriately spiced to hot and my hubbs Thai hot dish did not disappoint. We will definitely stop in again.
Never a bad meal at Elephant Thai!
Great food and reasonable prices
Apparently this restaurant is not kid-friendly. We dined with our 2-year old who is highly energetic and screams from time to time then we were told that if he does it again we need to bring him outside, in the cold! Will never go back!!!
Our waitress was really sweet and the food was awesome I would definitely recommend this place!
Great Thai cuisine and excellent service. The sushi is great quality.
Delicious food and great service

Heart shaped rice- how could you not love this place? Fast service and delicious food.
Ordered lunch portion but when bill came it was dinner price. Advised manager and she was rude and said “well that’s dinner portion we served you so pay the bill.” Scammed
Fabulous! Coconut soup was the best. Drunken noodles was awesome. We'll be back
Wonderful food. Wonderful people.
Had sushi and pad Thai and both were fantastic.
Lee and Seth are great guys, along with the rest of the staff. The family from Thailand are running an exceptional restaurant with equally great service and food.
If I’m ever back in Charleston I’m definitely coming back!
Excellent food and staff!!
One of the best Thai restaurants I have tried. My wife have been here many times and they never disappoint. I tend to try something different every time and each dish has been excellent!
Ordered a take out order that we were told would be ready at 7:15 pm. We didn’t receive our food at 8:00 pm. Very disorganized.
I have heard people rave about how good this restaurant was but had never tried it myself. I stopped today to get lunch and it lived up to the hype. It was busy during the lunch rush but I was seated quickly. The food was great and the service was awesome. I will be back.
A great find! We were in Charleston for a few months and got to try this amazing place. The Massman Curry is outstanding and the drunken noodles are also top notch! We went there every time we were in town.
Go to this restaurant every time I am in area. Love the seafood salad. First time they had vegetables cutters designs on TV it was obvious that they were learning from the shows.
The best Thai food ever!! I’ve had the pad see ew. Chicken curry and seafood drunken noodle. Can’t wait to go back! Their soup and sushi is great as well
Very good
Been here twice and food is incredible every time. Had pad thai and sushi lunch combo. Will be back.
One year later stopped again and it was delicious. Love the consistency
2 out of the 4 of us enjoyed our meals — the stir fried garlic shrimp was delicious and the sweet & sour chicken was also a winner. Nothing wrong with the prik khing — this was just his first time having Thai food and it was a bit different (and spicier!) than he was expecting. The other person ordered pad see ew and found it to be too dry.
Our waitress was very good at first, but then she just kind of started ignoring our table toward the end of our meal and we had a difficult time getting her attention to get our check. The restaurant is very noisy, which happens in a small space like they have, but the worst part is the chimes they have hanging on the front door. They are so high-pitched and ear-piercing that every time someone would enter or leave, we'd be sitting there cringing and wondering why a place that small feels they need such an obnoxiously loud signal on their door.
We had a good sized party and even made some special requests. I had the Pad See EW and sushi as well as hot green tea. The food was impeccable. No skimping on meat at all and the sushi everyone ordered looked delicious. In fact, all the food was commented on because of not only taste but being beautiful. Our waiter was courteous and helpful.
Pad Thai with chicken was fantastic! Pineapple curry also very good. Very fast for carryout. Large portions.
Great food very flavorful. Staff very nice
Genuinely confused at the high ratings for the restaurant. I ordered a chicken drunken noodle and chicken basil rice. The taste profile is bland and the portions are small. On the bright side, the staff are friendly.
Fantastic food and service.
Got the drunkin noddles, panang curry, and fresh rolls.
We were visiting from Seattle.
Awesome thai food and sushi. Love their soups in the fall/winter!
Best sushi hands down.
My family loves this place! Everything we’ve had here is great! It’s pricey, so it’s a special treat and never disappoints! The entrees are flavorful and aromatic, if you’re adventurous order them Thai hot! 👌🏻
Phenomenal little restaurant. Our waitress could not have been nicer and food was delicious. Thai tea was great. I got the pad see ew and my dad got a different dish. We were just looking for something casual but good as we were just driving through and this hit the spot!
My favorite restaurant by the mound a little expensive but worth every penny
Excellent food and fantastic service! Had the Pad Thai with Chicken and the Pineapple Fried Rice, both were excellent and I would order again. I saw other amazing dishes coming out though so I may try something more adventurous next time. The restaurant was busy, and also seemed to have a lot of carry out as well. We were there on a Wednesday evening.
Ordered chicken satey, thai fried rice and basil fried rice. We ordered spicy. All items are good
I had the Panang Curry Chicken and Salmon Avacodo Roll. It was amazing. Go check it out! You won't be disappointed.
Elephant Thai is a locally owned and operated restaurant. Everything is always great and we keep returning.
Excellent food!! I recommend the pineapple rice with chicken, it was delicious!! The employees were super nice and friendly!!
Elephant Thai is a wonderful Thai restaurant in South Charleston, WV. Though it can seem small from the outside, they do manage to have a good amount of seating inside. From the few times I've gotten carryout from there, the food has been delicious and served up piping hot. I highly recommend stopping by Elephant Thai!
Good food and service and convenient in South Charleston.
Best sushi in town.
The place is bigger inside than it looks from the road. Very clean. Staff was quick and friendly. The food was very good..... probably the best crab Rangoon I've ever had. Planning to go back so many other items I want to try.
First time eating at a Thai restaurant and it did not disappoint. They had so many menu options and very friendly staff. Beautiful artwork and music played.
I ate their red curry dish with a side of jasmine rice. Just the right amount of spicy and silken texture in the curry. Will definitely try to eat again at this establishment.
My order was wrong and when I told the waitress she argued with me about what I ordered. The part that I could eat was good.
This is absolutely the best sushi in the area and the pad thai is phenomenal as well. I dream about the pineapple fried rice and coconut curry. Cannot recommend this place enough and have loved every single thing I've tried. Deserves more than 5 stars!
Food is great but there’s not much to select, Menu wise. The sushi rolls are a bit expensive as well. I love their Thai tea though. That was really good. I would just want to suggest to put more meat on your curry. I did see a lot of potatoes on my order.
My fave thai restaurant. Prices are a bit high now compared to when they first opened, but their Tom Yum Soup is my very favorite!
Great food and good service
SO good!!
Never have a bad experience here. Seth is almost always our server and takes care of our food and he’s awesome. The drunken noodles and chicken Pad Thai are a favorite.
I’ve been visiting this restaurant with my co-workers for over a year now, on a weekly basis. I’ve traveled all over the country and believe it or not, sushi from Elephant Thai in South Charleston WV tops just about all of them. The staff is so nice and the entire menu is so good! I’ve had the opportunity to try most of the items and I have yet to have anything that wasn’t top tier. Finally remembered to take a picture. They always find creative ways to present their food, even at lunch with a lunch combo special. Highly recommend!!! 10/10, any day of the week.
Mossi man is a sweet Thai with Chicken Potatoes and carrots in Coconut Milk delicious !! My go to comfort food Very Grateful for you all !!
This place has become our go-to out-to-eat spot. The sushi is “chef’s kiss”✨. So good!
Taste of Asia is where I frequent, but it was randomly closed. I looked for another sushi place close by and Elephant Thai was two doors down. I was super excited to try this place due to all the good reviews. I walked in, and it was moderately busy with 4 or so tables open and the bar seats were completely open. I was by myself and waited for what seemed to be forever to even be greeted at the hostess stand. The hostess pointed to a table so I made my way over and she didn’t follow. I sat there without a menu for a very long time. Three other groups came in after me and she gave all of them menus and began taking the order of the first group after me. I finally got up and walked out. In all, this was about 25 min from start to finish.
Panga Curry and red curry are amazing
Food is excellent and service is top notch. Never had a bad experience here.
Wonderful food
Great service
Lovely atmosphere
Amazing 🤩
Love love love Elephant Thai!
Great food with great service.
A simple yet good place for lunch. Sister n I like the food .
We’ve eaten here many times. The food is always delicious and plentiful. Best Thai restaurant in the Charleston/South Charleston area!
Best presentation of flavors in a long while. Stir fried garlic (chicken) and special orange blossom roll. And a bonus, service with a great smile.
Elephant Thai is a hidden gem. Best sushi I’ve had in the Kanawha Valley. I haven’t had anything there I didn’t like. It’s truly one of the best restaurants in Charleston!
I got drunken noodles with beef and I liked it a lot. I didn’t wait too long to get my food, maybe about 10 minutes. The portion was good. The beef could be a little more, but anyways it was delicious. The staff where super nice and friendly.
I found a string in my food, like the ones are around meat when you buy one. I told the waitress and after apologizing for it, they gave me another whole order in a box to go.
I don’t live in Charleston, but I would go again if I pass that way.
