Contemporary spot serving Vietnamese & Thai dishes with expansive patio & craft cocktails.
I was a little worried about coming here due to the past negative reviews, but Mandala exceeded all expectations. Don’t listen to those reviews. The service was welcoming and attentive. Our server gave us some suggestions and they were amazing. The top dishes we got were the mini pancakes, Vietnamese chicken curry, 5 spiced stewed beef, and the pad Thai. Super surprised this place didn’t have a wait. It’s a great place to come to for dinner on a weekend night knowing there won’t be a long wait. Highly recommend!
What a great place. The food is excellent, service is wonder, and the atmosphere is chill. The food is well priced and well portioned. But the flavors and quality are just excellent. The service is the best I have had in a long time for the price range, and alone is worth the visit. The hours are perfect for a evening stop after 9pm, which I find to be a great and peaceful time to each. I can't say enough good about my visit. The only reason it's not a 5 is the atmosphere, but for the price range you can't beat it. Go and enjoy this place. Note: parking is free but in the garage.
When I called, there was some error with the phone call. Must be some technical error with the phone, the sound glitched.
The service was good, the man who answered was friendly and polite.
I ordered the chicken wings and the lotus salad. The chicken wings are so good! They're so flavorful! And the salad was also delicious!
We ordered To-Go so I didn't get to go inside.
The food impressed everyone in our group. Flavorful! The Pad See Ew were made vegan and tasted great. Everyone loved the various fried rice options. The server/manager was extremely friendly and helpful. Recommended!
Pad Thai does not miss + they have a cool interior vibe.
Very attentive service, with unique dishes, excellent cocktails, and sake.
Perfect pho on a chilly night!
Great place, the food is outstanding as well as the service.
Excellent service great food and friendly
Blandest pad Thai I’ve ever had. Do not recommend at all.
The food impressed everyone in our group. Flavorful! The Pad See Ew were made vegan and tasted great. Everyone loved the various fried rice options. The server/manager was extremely friendly and helpful. Recommended!
I always have this delivered so I can’t speak for the service. But the food is always amazing!

great waiter. got there at 9:30/10 bc its one of the only few places open and they dont disappoint! we got the pad kee mao and vietnamese chicken curry
Mandalas is one of my favorite restaurants. The food and service are always amazing! I always get the Yellow Curry with shrimp and the Cajun garlic butter edamame, both are super delicious!
High quality family owned business; love the pad see ew with tofu- spicy; fantastic portions and flavor. Service is always top notch and the restaurant is always perfectly clean.
chill n delicious
False advertising and terrible service!

strongly disgusting establishment that clearly gives reuses other customers leftover food. No noodle should be less than an inch let alone the entire plate. When going in about the issue and asking for it to either be remade or for a refund they went with the easy option just giving a refund saying it would take days for the bank to return the money. What about for those who are on their last $20
should they have to go hungry unable to afford food for the night due to an establishment NOT following the proper protocols on making an order right? I recommend avoiding at all costs, it’s dead all the time for a reason please keep that in mind.
My rating is based on my experience with the staff. Went there with a group of about 8. Two different waiters were serving our table. When it came time to pay the bill, one of the waiters told us that one of our group members didn't have to pay because his food was paid for by another member of the group. This ended up not being the case and I had to pay for his food. I called back to discuss this with their staff after I left, and was passed around to three different people. The first manager I spoke with handed me off to a staff member without saying anything, the staff member assured me that he would take care of it and void the additional transaction, and then a third member of their staff called me back about 10 minutes later to inform me that the previous staff member was wrong and that (in his words), "this was on you guys" (referring to our group). I had to de-escalate so we could resolve the situation by telling him that he was being too aggressive and trying to find blame when we should be looking for a solution. Overall, really terrible customer service experience. I'm sure it was due to the confusing information that we received as a group but, the way they handled it after the fact was equally confusing and disorganized, not to mention distressing. The food was decent and the venue itself has an enjoyable atmosphere, but their staff was very difficult.
Holy moly this place is fantastic.
i love spicy foods, hell i eat peppers like candy but when i tell you this food was just spicy to be spicy - it was horrible, wasnt even a flavorful spicy!! just hot for no reason!! it literally triggered an asthma attack... thanks!! i hate it!! even if you lovveee spice like i do let this be a warning!! all of my husband and i's food was inedible because of this!! spent almost 200$ because we love thai food and were treating ourselves only for it to suck!!
Love the food here, I eat a lot of asian food and Mandala has some of the best curries and noodle dishes in town. Drunken noodles and green curry are highlights. Restaurant is clean and modern and the staff is friendly and helpful. Also great that they're open late. Highly recommend.
Beautiful inside and the food and service was amazing
Do not sleep on this place! It is absolutely amazing Thai food. Everything is so fresh and homemade. They have classic Thai then dishes with a unique spin.

I have never been in, so can't speak to anything but the quality of the food and how well they pack it for delivery. I love the pho broth so much that I get it every time, no matter what else I get. They also have fantastic appetizers and the vermicelli I've had was really good. The meat is grilled well and not super salty, but flavorful.
Friendly and attentive service. Generally their dishes are tasty and well-made. The shrimp salad had an excellent dressing, abundant large fresh shrimp, and a great spicy kick. Curry and Noodle dishes were delicious. Shaking beef had good flavor too. The only thing that keeps me from giving 5 stars is that the beef in the shaking beef was very chewy. Otherwise a very positive experience.
Great vibe, the food is always delicious. Every time I visit Austin, I stop to get some food here.
Every dish was flavorful and complex.
We made an order for dinner. There were 5 dishes, but only 2.5 (yes, two and half) meals were delivered! With overcooked shrimp and a weird pad thai.
Everything was fine the previous times, but today we were very unhappy with our food!
Great food and great staff
Great service, dreamed cocktails
The Cajun fried rice is SO good! And really large portions
Had the lotus salad and edamame. Every taste great and fresh. Will definitely come back
The atmosphere was pretty drab and quiet. The food was okay but I don’t recommend their chicken wings… they were really large and arm-shaped which made the experience unsettling 😭 The Thai Basil Fried Rice was very yummy though
Ordered food from here for Christmas and it was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend their basil fried rice and red curry
The food was amazing my Pho was delicious. The fish with the pineapple amazing combo and the flavors were so good. The food was top notch. My mango drink and guava drinks as adult beverages I loved! I will Def come back here again. The server was nice and prompt with everything very polite.
Ordered fried rice close to close. Nothing had any seasoning or taste and the shrimp seemed over cooked. I guess I won’t be ordered for delivery again.
Disappointed because the reviews seemed promising!
I have to say I was not impresses with the food or service. the place looked great, but the food was bland not bad. I expected more for the price. oh well
I have few thing want to let you guy know i have some issue with food at this restaurant. 1) no folk and no spoon, 2) the Mini rice pancake its have some small metal inside the cake lucky i didn’t swallow ( i have a picture), however i will not come back with this restaurant horrible food
Amazing food at good prices. The staff is always really nice. They’re open late and are a lifesaver when needing a midnight meal. I’ve been eating here for a few years. Only wish they were more busy!
Ordered the hot saké and it was yellow and had a nasty taste-- I should've sent it back.
Glassware was dirty-- lipstick stain, grey sticky mystery gunk, and what looked like a bit of tajin or a spicy rim from the last time the glass was used (nothing that goes with a gin & tonic).
Service was slow, we sat at the bar for a bit before anyone arrived to take our drink order.
Very good Asian fusion, primarily Thai/Vietnamese. Friendly efficient staff. Highly recommend Mandala. I simply don’t understand why it was empty on a Friday evening. Tip, they can adjust the heat level of any item.
Local spot with great food! Highly recommend if you're craving some Viet or Thai food. Solid menu that's not too large. My standout dishes below.
Thai Basil Fried Rice - all the comfort you would want from a fried rice along with some spice and that stir fried basil
Pad See Ew - wide rice noodles and Chinese broccoli stir fried in a nice umami and slightly sweet sauce
Mini Rice Pancakes - their take on a classic Viet street food, banh khot
Mango sticky rice - sweet ripe mango and taro colored purple sticky rice
All are or can be made vegetarian as well!
The food may or may not have human hairs. Vibe is nice, front staff is cool. But kitchen is not the best.
My absolute favorite restaurant. The food is AMAZING. Once I tired this place, I have gone back several times since. I don’t think food gets better. Also tend to get all the appetizers because it’s hard to get just one they are all insanely delicious. I’m glad to have stumbled on this place. The staff is also amazing, which makes place even better! LOVE LOVE LOVE!! -
*editing post from a few years ago* I was randomly thinking about this place and wanted to live vicariously through the pics again. I live in Atlanta now but this is by far my favorite restaurant (Try the pancakes).. I miss them so much!
Great foods, friendly & nice service! Will come back to try other dishes!
Over priced and the pad Thai was bland and chicken unseasoned, ordered the mama’s egg rolls and they were great.
I am editing my review because of the nice response I received in response to my review. In the original review, I mentioned my frustration when I arrived at their opening time (11 am) and waited for about 15 minutes before knocking on the door. Someone finally came out and told me they weren't sure when they were going to open that day because the manager hadn't arrived. I won't go into all of the details, but I am now convinced that this was just a temporary issue due to staffing shortages, which I completely understand. I had heard great things about the food here, so I am looking forward to trying it out in the future!
This is one of my favorite places in Austin. The food is so good! The service is excellent: and I always feel so appreciated. Mini rice pancakes are one of the best things I’ve eaten in Austin in 14 years. Vietnamese Espresso Martini is amazing.
Was fooled by the ambiance and location. One of the worst Thai foods I have ever had. Pad Thai was bad and pad see ew was salty. It tasted as if it was reheated as part of it was hot and some of it was cold.
PLS CHANGE how the FOOD IS PACKED FOR TAKE OUT!
Ordered takeout and the food was very good! The Cajun rice it’s amazing-highly recommend. I REALLY wish they would package the takeout differently or at least line with foil! It’s in styrofoam, and then the hot food melts it! The styrofoam melted so much the sauce was leaking and leached into the food- so dangerous! Please package differently, thank you!
Absolutely love the Yellow Curry with shrimp.
I’ve had the green curry and pad Thai from here and both are delicious!
Fantastic! My wife and I went for lunch on a Tuesday, it was really chill. Food was amazing, we shared the pad Thai and the Vietnamese fried rice. Dang, who is one of the owners took care of us. Service was top notch, drinks where stiff we talked for a long while. This is my new go to Thai in Austin.
Hands down the best pad thai I've ever had. 11/10
CAJUN FRIED EFFING RICE! OH MY GAWD! This right here. This right chere! M-A-N-D-A-L-A. I have had my fair share of food being 51 years young and maintaining this 299 lb boyish physique. But when I experienced this entree two things came to mind and palate. First. That I have been lied to by other restaurants claiming to be the best when at best they were average. Second. That I have cheated my palate and my wallet from more bang for my bite and dollar. Back to the CFR, the pic included is proof enough that this entree is so ON POINT! How they perfected the right amount of spice to awaken your senses at 10p but not too much where you're offended and can't taste anything. To not eat here is doing yourself a huge disservice. Mandala Kitchen should do a wok drop and walk away now
Came here with my family and it was great! We all got different menu items and every one out of the 4 choices were amazing!
Don't go to this restaurant. The open sign is on and the hours are posted. It's listed as open on Google but it is locked up tight. Nobody will answer the phone either to confirm ahead of time if it's open or closed. Came on a Thursday for lunch at 12.40.
The menu looks fantastic, but sadly it is only a waste of time for potential patrons.
Go for thr GREEN CURRY!
I feel bad for the reviewer who submitted before me (Tom) because my friend and I went to Mandala for dinner last night and it was fantastic. Hopefully he gives it another try. :)
It was pretty chill for a Tuesday at 6:30pm. We sat at the bar and had no trouble with service. I highly recommend the Guava Mojito. It was excellent!
We split the Pan Fried Dumplings and Mini Rice Pancakes as appetizers. The dumplings were a solid classic, but the rice pancakes were truly something special. I haven't had anything like that before and they were amazing! Don't skip those when you check this place out.
My friend got the Cajun Fried Rice and I got the Seafood Clear-Noodle Salad. The noodle salad had plenty of veggies and a good kick to it. The fried rice was our favorite of the two though. It had a great smoky flavor that went well with the crawfish and sausage.
It's in the same shopping center as the Alamo Drafthouse so give it a try before your next movie!
Ordered Pad Thai delivery at 11:30PM on a Sunday night. Needless to say, I was not expecting much. It ended up being some of, if not THE best Pad Thai I have ever had. I was blown away. If I lived in Austin, I would order from here all the time.
Went today for the first time, and I was impressed with the food! The service was ok, and so was the vibe. They have a lot of potential if they worked on these two. Would definitely go back!
Great Curries! Consistently good food!
Mandala has the best fried rice I’ve ever had. Their ingredients are so fresh! I hope they thrive and continue their business.
Not diabetic friendly at all even when asked, and everything is soaked with oil. Awful quality especially for the price.
Great atmosphere and the staff are so amazing! Very hospitable and they genuinely cater to their customers. Did I mention the food is high quality. Highly recommend. 🤤
The food was excellent.
Spicy in so many different ways.
The appetizers was something new to me but good.
I will be back.
Cozy spot for good pad Thai. Would definitely recommend some of the soups. Atmosphere is very relaxing.
Everything I’ve had on the menu is the best of that thing in Austin. Cajun fried rice, the best. Crispy chicken wings, the best. Rice cakes, the best.
Crispy rice pizza, Pad kee Mao, and Mango sticky rice are my go to orders. The crispy rice pizza appetizer is my fav and the only reason I crave this place. It's a VERY unusual combo. Uses different ingredients all used in viet cuisine but in a unique way. The "dough" is crispy rice with a layer of egg then topped with dried spreaded pork, truffle oil and a little fish sauce.
Mini rice pancakes 5/5
Crispy rice pizza 5/5
Pad kee Mao 5/5
Pad thai 5/5
Thai basil fried rice 4/5
Yellow curry 5/5
Surf clam ceviche : 3/5
Mango sticky rice 5/5
The waiter I've had the past few times doesn't speak English well but was still able to get orders correct.
Amazing selection of Japanese whiskey.
This is one of our local favorites! I recommend the cajun fried rice, curries, spring rolls and chicken wings. The owner is super sweet and always checks in on how we’re doing.
Lovely ambience immediately upon entry (especially loved the hand-painted murals). Service was timely, friendly, and helpful. Food came quickly and was piping hot + delicious. I got the guava mojito and the 5 spiced beef stew…it was so good and the meat just fell apart on the fork—-yum and perfectly cooked. Guava candy on the way out was a great touch as well!
Cool ambience, nice little place. Wings were hot, crispy, big and tasty. The curry chicken in yellow curry was tasty. My partner is not a big fan of Thai food but loved everything. Chocolate cake and cheesecake were great desserts as well. If you are deciding between this and TLC next door, skip tlc and get the crawfish here, tlc is flavorless and pricey. As a side note, an older man was having some health trouble and an ambulance came, they wanted to pay before leaving and the manager told them not to worry about it. This was a table of six people who looked like they ordered a lot of food. Good people. I hope the man was okay!
Celebrated an 83rd birthday and were teated royally by staff at Mandala! Of course, all dishes were superb in flavor and appearance. What a great place to go following a movie at the nearby Alamo Drafthouse. We will return soon and often!
Ordered Thai basil fried rice. One of the best dishes I've had.
We ordered Fried Dumplings, Pad Thai with chicken, Pad kee mao(drunken noodles) with chicken, and Basil Fried Rice with tofu.
Friend dumplings were crispy and tasty. Pad Thai was very delicious and its preparation was quite different from the pad thai which are usually served in other asian restaurants. Pad Kee Mao had a nice smoky flavour of seasoned wok but lacked spiciness although it was listed as very spicy dish on the menu. Basil Fried Rice was little disappointing as it didn't have enough flavour of thai basil and could have been more umami.
Once again a wonderful and revitalizing experience. My fav is the lemongrass dish and tofu spring rolls. Thai tea is delicious and I save it until the end otherwise i drink it too fast. I love this place. A part of the bar is outside and the patio is super nice. And open late!
Amazing!!!! Never had a bad meal here!!! My boyfriend and I love coming to Mandala. Great service and very friendly staff!
Super tasty and creative meals that dont kill your wallet.
Slightly dingy (menus need to be replaced etc) but overall excellent, bright atmosphere
Pretty good. Expensive drinks at 14 bucks a pop!
Stumbled upon this place because it was open until midnight. Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food! Our waiter, Love, was very friendly and made the experience a pleasure. Best part of the meal was the mango sticky rice dessert! Thinking about going back again today to have another bite!
This place has the best pad Kee mao I've ever tasted! The portion is large and I could easily split it into 2 meals as an athlete and it cost under $20 with tax and extra chicken. The spice level is also nice to where I feel the heat but I can eat the whole thing without dying. Overall I'd give it a 13 out of 5 stars 🤩 it's that good 👍
Sunday early evening brought me to Mandala for romantic dining. My partner and I ordered the spring rolls with shrimp for starters and they were delicious with the peanut sauce. The lemongrass noodles with tofu was added along with the cajun fried rice. Both were very flavorful and fresh. Although I enjoy the energy of a full, bustling dinner space, if you desire low flow and quiet...go Sundays at 5:00pm. Great time. Catch a movie at Alamo!
The food and service was really good the workers were all so nice and respectful.
To whoever in the kitchen, Thank you for making awesome foods! I hope more people know about this place
Great food and great service. The wings, pad see ew, red curry and basil fried rice were excellent and the portions were big. Rogelio is an awesome server.
Went with husband and two kids before a show at ZACH theatre. Ordered a Thai basil gimlet, old fashioned, gyoza, chicken pad see ew, Cajun fried rice, Vietnamese chicken curry, and all of it was amazing. A variety of delicious flavors. Tender chicken in the curry. The kids loved it! We can’t wait to go back.
Great Thai food and desserts.
This place is great.
Order Pad See-ew and the Cajun Fried Rice. Wife loved her Thai Basil Gimlet. Seriously, almost as good at Tuk-Tuk.
I have only had their Tom yum soup but it never disappoints! I’ve only had their chicken one and it’s amazing! Servers and hosts are all friendly. Definitely a great spot for some good Asian cuisine. I’ll dine in next time!
This is the best place to take someone out on a date or to treat your family to a meal
Horrible service!!! I ordered through door dash, and the restaurant directly contacted me, saying they could not modify the sweetness of my Thai green tea. I mentioned to put more milk to nullify the sweetness & they agreed. They called me an hour later and mentioned since I put in the notes that I am allergic to shrimp, they could not give me the tom yum soup. I asked them why they wasted an hour of my time & they mentioned they did not read that. They also told me they would contact doordash to cancel my order but never did. Horrible experience, never ordering again.
Such great food and Bella took such great care of our group!
This was the worst dining experience I’ve had in Austin and I’m from here. Went last night at 8pm before a movie at 9:55. We walked in and there wasn’t a host, server, or a bartender so we waited until a server came from the back and told us to take a seat at a clean booth. The booth next to ours was dirty and a couple was on the other side. There were 3 couples at the bar and a few tables outside. Our server didn’t come for about 10-15 minutes and only came to give us menus and waters. It took him another 15-20 minutes to come back and take out order. We decided to order our drinks and food at the same time since the servers seemed busy even though it wasn’t busy…I did notice the 2 servers were making their own drinks, bussing, and hosting. Another woman from the kitchen went behind the bar as more people started coming in. He said they didn’t have a few things we wanted on the menu, so we settled for things we thought would be quick and easy. We ordered chicken wings, spicy surf clam and shrimp noodle salad, tofu egg rolls, coconut curry mussels and two iced teas. He told us there was no tea so he had to brew some, no problem! The food came out at 9:20, all together. The chicken was old and tasted like it was boiled/fried in dirty sink water….it left a terrible taste in our mouths…it came with 3 wings, we finished 1. (My partner did, I couldn’t do it) The seafood salad must have been sitting in the window the whole time bc the lettuce was soggy from sitting in the sauce. It looked awful and had a total of 3 boiled shrimp, 2 surf clams, lots of soggy iceberg lettuce, and noodles in a bowl of sauce that tasted funny…we couldn’t eat it. This salad was $20…The clams also tasted a little strange and most of them were completely closed….so we couldn’t finish this either. The egg rolls were bland. It took another 30 minutes to get the check printed and back to us. We never got a refill or an apology for only seeing our server a few times…the place seemed to be seating more tables as we left…I had a stomach ache all night and woke up throwing up. I should’ve read the reviews…someone said the chicken tasted old, and yes it did. Tasted rotten! My bull came out to $76 with a 20% tip. Oh and the server forgot our order and came back to make sure it was correct and it wasn’t. I’ve worked in the service industry and I get being busy, but this is managements fault for making them wear so many hats at once and not having the food ready. The table next to us came in after us as a bachelorette party…I felt bad for them…they were getting 14 alcoholic & non alcoholic drinks out one by one! I will say many people got their food before us and that party got a few appetizers out before their drinks. Anyway, long rant to say, be careful eating this food! I’m the 2nd person to say that chicken is rotten.
I bought crab fried rice but it had shrimp and end up having allergic reaction so be careful what you order
The last few times I’ve ordered here, every dish tastes really fishy. They put fish sauce in everything and unless you really want every dish to taste like fish sauce, it
might not be your thing.
Excelente, lo mejor de Austin y a un excelente precio
When we arrived to the place, there was literally nobody there. We didn’t finish the appetizer because it tasted old. We tasted the Pad Thai and didn’t even eat it — the chicken was old, the noodles tasted like old frying oil. Gross. No one apologized or refunded anything. Highly recommend to avoid. The server was nice.
My first visit and it will not be my last! We ordered 6 pounds of crawfish which were cooked fresh and tasted fantastic! Service was welcoming and very fast and attentive. I will return and try other items on the menu.
This place and it's entirer staff are extremely disrespectful to customers and especially delivery drivers. Every one deserves respect and this place shows ZERO. The food I'd weak Please do not give them one penny of your money.
NOT GOOD AT ALL. Completely dead atmosphere inside. Gross food (we tried pad thai and yellow curry). So disappointed.
Not sure why this place doesn't get more buzz. Everything we had was fantastic, including the cocktails, and they had some great gluten-free options for my wife. The rice pancake appetizer and mango sticky rice were real highlights. Also, we sat at the bar and the bartender was really nice even though she was slammed. Worth checking out.
Mandala’s had the greatest service, food, and drinks I have EVER experienced. My server Vy was so kind and personable, I would go back just to have her serve me again. I could not give her enough credit in the world for her amazing job and for making my experience great. Not only that, the food was to die for and I dream about it all the time. I highly recommended the Shaken Ribeye and the Pad Kee Mao. You will not find authentic Asian food anywhere else in the US besides here.
It was my very first time visiting Austin, Texas and I was recommended to eat here by a few locals and friends in the area. I ordered the Pad Kee Mao, Shaken Ribeye, and the Thai Basil Fried Rice and have to say I am absolutely addicted! Thank you to my server, Vy, for recommending all this delicious food. I am seriously planning a trip back to Austin again just to come back here. The other staff members were really sweet and when we were there they had Harry Potter playing on the tv (My favorite movie!!). Overall I had a great experience here and the cocktails were so refreshing! They are also located next to a couple neat bars so it was easy to quickly grab a bite and cross the street for some other activities. I highly recommend you order everything I got. You will not be disappointed!!
Very slow. The front girl was very disrespectful to a certain customers 🙄
Best Christmas dinner I've ever had at a restaurant. LOVED the mussel curry and pineapple tamarind fish. Fish was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender inside. Pineapple, bell peppers, and Thai basil tasted wonderfully fresh. Huge portions, worth the price. Welcoming service.
Ordered food for takeout. Ordered the Basil Fried Rice WHICH WAS BURNT! It appears they burnt the bottom of the pan, mixed the rice around, packed it and gave it out. It's horrible that a restaurant would even do that! We ordered the vegetable Tom Yum Soup as well, which was very oily. We ordered two small soups and after literally one spoonful of it, we had to throw them out. We also ordered the Green Curry entrée which was ok, but lacked flavor. Don't understand why this restaurant would be rated so high. Definitely never coming back here.
Being Christmas day, it seemed they were short staffed but after an hour and a half wait, the food and service were impeccable and Rogelio was exceptional stating sorry for such a large wait and he made us feel cared for once all the chaos subsided as some patrons were being unreasonable. The family seemed to be running everything and again I found my experience had a rough start but very well pleased towards the end. I applaud the staff that held everything down it being Christmas Day and kudos to Rogelio as he needs a raise and recognization!
We didn't feel enough to cook for Christmas so looked around to see what happened to be open and this resutruant was one of a few options. Placed a take out order through the app that is linked on thier site while knowing that the wait time will be long considering it was the holiday.
Arrived a little later than the estimated puck up time and discovered that our order was never put into the que to be cooked! Apparently they don't receive notifications when an order is placed in the app and they never check! Basically it was up to us to call in and tell them that we placed the order on the app, and how where we supposed to know that!? So it ended up taking an extra 45 minutes to get our order ready. Staff was indifferent to the situation and we were not the only ones that had their orders delayed. I get the staffing shortage issues can cause bumps in service, but there was no contingency plan put in place by the owner about the issues with the app and the super busy holiday rush.
Now on to the food... Sub Par.
Ordered the PAD KEE MAO and on the menu it did not indicate what the spice level was so we just assumed it will be mild at most. BOY THAT WAS NOT THE CASE. The flavor of the dish is SPICY and nothing else! Now I love me some spice, but if all I can taste is spice and nothing else and feels like torture to eat then no thank you. I like complex flavors in my food, and did not find it here.
To sum it up, bad service, bad food.
Carlo gets a special mention - the coolest server who knows basically everything about all foods and drink. Food was great and recommend the sake flights.
Such an amazing place and great ambiance. The food was delish and the server we had , I can't recall his name was absolutely incredible. He gave us advice and told us what we should order based on what we like. It was a group of coworkers which are friends and we had all these gifts to exchange and they accommodated us right away. Our server was def the highlight to our whole experience .... I wish I remembered his name. It was Thursday the 16th around 730 pm.. thank you for the amazing service and hospitality.
We had made reservations and arrived on time. It was a Saturday, slow, seated at a booth but server didn’t come to the table for about 20 minutes, we ordered drinks and food at that time because we had waited so long, and it too another 15-20 minutes to get said drinks. Each “specialty cocktail” was $14, I had the Pina colada that came on the rocks and wasn’t great. We also got two other drinks, also not amazing. There was no music playing, no ambiance, very quiet, and didn’t seem like anyone who worked there, wanted to be there. We were given the food, I had ordered the Chicken Curry on the specialty menu, it was good, but very “stew” like and had little spice. My husband got the Pho, it was a little bland and we both agreed there are better, cheaper options for Pho and Curry.
As we have managed restaurants and been in the service industry for a very long time, this place has a lot of potential for the area to be better. Bottom line, needs music, and faster service, to say the least.
I walked in starving looking for a quick dinner and and someone sat me saying server would be right with me.
After roughly 5 minutes I hadn’t seen a server so I set a timer for myself of 3 more minutes that if I didn’t have someone greet me within 8 minutes I couldn’t assume a quick meal. After the timer went off I left. I then was outside another couple minutes looking for a new place to go and saw no one notice my table.
The food could be great, but I think their communication and service could be better so I left and went down the street to a restaurant I know does a great job.
V our waitress was very attentive and helpful and the food felt very homely
These gotta be paid reviews. Walked in and no greeting, no service. Talked to a random guy no uniform no nothing, he said we had to seat ourselves. Waiter said they didn’t like anything on the menu and only recommended two dishes as good. Well he was right we spent $75 and everything was terrible. We couldn’t even eat it. We politely paid after a few bites and left. Guy wasn’t even surprised. I wouldn’t have fed the food to a dog. Everything tasted horrible. Especially the shrimp pizza, it was one of the worse things I’ve ever tried. I’ve eaten thai my entire life and the prices were 2-3x anything in the area yet food tasted out of a can and not in a good way- it was one level below canned cat food. The tom yum tasted like $2 vegetable soup from HEB that someone added a piece of chicken to and had a scoop of red chili flakes, that was it. I can go on and on, I rarely leave reviews but had to tell people to stat away from this place.
Ordered a Thai Green Tea via UberEats. I’m no stranger to the standard Thai Tea or Thai Green Tea and the drink that arrived was nothing of the sort. Tasted like fresh-cut lawn blended with water, strained, and poured over ice. I am more frustrated than I would have been had they just left it out of the order entirely. Nobody should have to dig through their pantry for condensed milk to salvage a drink to the point of borderline-acceptable-for-human-consumption.
Really good chicken pad Thai!!!
I have never post any complaints about any restaurant before, but this is my first. Worse experience with owner and staff. Owner was careless and also failed to train staff. The issues were not addressed. The staff seems to have his hand tied and was had to whisper to me while talking bad about owner.
Walked in no one greeting. I had to say hello and ask if they already closed since I was ignored. We came in 2 person ordered appetizer and 2 main whole fish and Pad See Ew with a bottle of Sake. Sake came out not cold. Ordered two other cocktails instead. I still want to have the Sake so asked server if they can put it in ice bucket they said NO because OWNER already put FINGER inside the Sake and said it was cold. So we are not allow to order a bottle of Sake because the first bottle make them lost already 45$. We end up paid 86$ and trash all the food there and left due to horrible service at this place. Who know what else they put finger in. They would have get way more $ today serving us the right way and more $ to get customer return. Worse experience in Austin so far and will not come back.
As has been mentioned, Mandala can be a bit on the pricey side, and the food service is up to interpretation. However, offering not only a chic and spacious interior, Mandala also has an open-air bar and patio area just outside that makes a fall-weather cocktail just perfect. Speaking of cocktails, Mandala offers an interesting array to choose from, including a fantastically flavorful cocktail including ghost tequila and tajin which will be sure to spice up your evening. An excellent spot to grab a drink while with friends if you're waiting for your table to open up at one of the nearby restaurants!
They are amazing people, great customer service and food is very good. Certainly I’m coming back.
The food/drinks were amazing & the customer service was spot on. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and will definitely be returning to Mandalas!
Bartender was also the waiter. He was very professional and personable. We had several dishes, and all were delicious. It is a bit pricey, but it's in a high rent area so understandable.
Excellent brisket Pho and Pad See EW. Fresh spring rolls with mint leaves
This place was good. I got the red curry and it was sooo filling and delicious. It also had a nice kick to it. The wait staff was kind. I initially came here looking for a Vietnamese Cajun fusion, but it is more of a mix of Thai food with a few Vietnamese options thrown in.
Amazing curry! But we waited almost 40 minutes for our order and there were only 3 other patrons in the entire restaurant. They forgot our order, finally brought it out but then didn’t even do anything to make up for it. Amazing food but disappointing service.
Pad Thai did not taste super authentic but was still pretty good. The pork chop was a little too salty :(. However, restaurant had a nice atmosphere and is located in a really nice walkable area! A little pricier than expected.
You HAVE to try the mango sticky rice! It’s one of the best I’ve ever had.
Great Asian Fusion in a striking architectural space
Get the Vietnamese chicken curry. Just do it.
We only stopped in for drinks but they are amazing! And the food we saw ppl order looked and smelled even better! The manager and staff were extremely friendly and prompt. We will def be back! Thank you!!
Food way too sweet (I had ceviche and lemongrass noodles), felt like they unnecessarily and intentionally dumped 50g of sugar in my dish. Sauce way too overpowering, like it’s cheap chinese food. Really don’t understand some of these cooks. You know that feeling when you leave a restaurant and you regret eating all that?.. yea it was that.
Food is amazing
My husband ordered basil fried rice and Pad-Thai for us from here. We found the food to be average. They had vegan/ vegetarian options. Price was a bit higher. The fried rice lacked the strong flavor of basil a basil fried rice should have. I also found that the fried was far foo oily. The order was delayed by more than 20 minutes from the set pick up time.
Quiet and brightly lit. Sorta pricey, but food was fine and the location makes some sense for the money. Server was pleasant enough, but not quite at the level of attentive, informative, or proactive that you'd expect for a place with $15-20 entrées. I don't know what would make me come back anytime soon, but if I did end up back here I wouldn't be upset.
Best pork chop in the entire city. Def check this place out. It does a ton of to go so don't judge based on crowds.
Very unique Cajun and Vietnamese fusion. Food is delicious but on the over salty side.
The rice pancake appetizer is superb!
Service is a bit slow because they only have one waiter for the entire restaurant besides the bartender and cook/service person.
I ordered from them using Chow Now and I thought it was supposed to be delivered. It wasn't. When I called they didn't apologize and when I went there they refused to allow me to sit and eat my food.
I will never go here again because they are complete jerks who care nothing about their customers.
Really, really great quality food! A little pricey because of the location but definitely worth it 👌
Finally tried this place and my food was delicious! I had the chicken fried rice and was so good. Had enough to eat on for 2 days actually. Very good place and in the heart of the very busy Lamar Union. Due to covid, I don't think you can eat inside but they have tables outside to eat at on a beautiful day. To pick up your order just have to call them and they bring it to the door for you. Will be back soon!
If prices matched the portions ok, but!
Go sour your self
Incredible. Amazing customer service. The pho and mango rice ♥️♥️♥️♥️
