Diner Review №5

My favorite Thia Restaurant near the Valley.

Diner Review №6

I had very unpleasant experience tonight in this place. I took my family of 4 for a short Thanksgiving vacation. On the way back to NYC, I found this place and want to give it try. The server showed his poker face from the beginning. We ordered soups, salads, and main dishes. The food was fast, and the noodle dishes weren't bad. The server placed the food on the table and left right away. During the dining, he didn't provide any services, didn't ask if we need to refill for drinks. Definitely he won't care to ask if the food is ok or not. I haven't request the check yet, he already brought it to me. Wow...he added 18% Gratuity automatically on the bill, we only had 4 people, not 14. Usually, I tip 20%+for dinner. I don't feel his services worth that much. His attitude want you "paid the money and get out there". He probably felt that we were not from that town, and assumed we won't tip him good. Anyway, I don't recommend this place to dine in.

Diner Review №7

I eat here as often as I can. Easily my favorite restaurant in the southern tier, and the best Thai restaurant in upstate NY if you ask me.
The dining area is comfortable and quiet. The service is impeccable; efficient, polite, and attentive yet minimal. The food is fantastic. Fresh vegetables and delicious seafoods and meats, and incredible sauces. The Three Flavor Duck with a side of coconut rice is incredible, as is the Seafood in Love. I always want to try different dishes when I go out to a familiar restaurant, but the duck in particular almost always draws me in. Appetizers are yeah and delicious. The Thai Milk Tea selections are a perfect drink when ordering spicy dishes. Desserts are available, but unlike everything else in the menu, they’re adequate but not memorable. Not a big deal, as meal portions, especially washed down with the milk tea, are very filling and satisfying. Elmira is lucky to have such a great Thai restaurant downtown. They also have great lunch specials.

Diner Review №8

Stopped by and happy I did. Ordered chicken pad Thai, dumplings and spring rolls. All was very good, nothing crazy but it all hit the spot. Pad Thai portion was definitely worth it

Diner Review №10

I've never had such a bad experience at a place that i had to go somewhere else to eat before

Diner Review №11

I love Thai food, so since moving to Elmira I had to get my regular Thai food, and found this place. Their food was good and place was nice. I got my usual spicy basil fried rice and drunken noodle, and Tom yum soup!! I def recommend those to order if you are new and don’t know what to order, I’m so sure u won’t get dissapointed!!! I wanted to try their dessert, sadly I was so full so def coming next time to try out the dessert

Diner Review №12

Had a couple of friends visiting from out of town and we decided to pick up some Thai food. Everything was delicious, fresh, and well made. The food was ready well before the estimated pickup time the restaurant gave us. Everything was hot, they got the spice preferences perfect, and nothing was missing from our order. An excellent experience.

I live in the area and this will be my go-to for Thai food!

The only disappointment was that Siam Elephants does advertise as having "vegan selections," but the only vegan "dish" they have is a house salad, which was extremely frustrating, because both my friends are vegan/vegetarian, and one is a strict vegan who has to watch what he eats because of medical concerns.

We were really looking forward to being able to order something that would suffice for everyone, but that wasn't possible. A house salad is vegan, yes, but it's not a meal. It's not even a side dish or an appetizer. It's a salad. If a restaurant advertises "vegan options," then there should be at least a couple of entrees, a couple of appetizers, and a couple of sides that vegans can actually make a meal out of. A salad does NOT cut it, and to be honest, that's false advertising.

That's the reason I gave four stars instead of five. If you advertise as having vegan options, then have vegan options. A house salad is not a meal. I feel very strongly about this as there are extremely limited vegan/vegetarian options available in Elmira, and when one advertises that they have those options, those options should be available. A house salad does not count.

I will order again for sure - the pad Thai with mock duck is fantastic and the coconut rice sublime - but that vegan thing really needs to be addressed.

Diner Review №13

We called to ask what time they close to which the owner said 8:15 last order. We asked if he was sure about us coming in as they close at 8:30 to which he said certainly we could come as they just take the last order at 8:15. We arrived placed all the orders before 8:15. From there started the worst experience one could expect. The food was rushed and seemed like cold stuff partially heated. He then dumped everything on the table as if to say finish your soup and appetizer. He then also brought us the check with 18% gratuity already applied just as we started to eat. So overall bad food, bad service. I expressed our concern that we are feeling rushed by him to which he says no he does not think that way. Never back here again.

Diner Review №14

Delicious food. Friendly staff. I highly recommend.

Diner Review №15

I was pleasantly surprised! The menu was full of items that we used to eat at home. I had the green curry and my sister had the red curry. We both loved our dishes. I didn’t go in with any expectations because I was from out of the area and taste preferences can be regional. Overall, I can’t wait to go back to explore the menu more.

Diner Review №16

We’ve been to this place about 3 times now and every single time has been a hit.
It’s so lovely to have a place in Elmira that has such good food Thai food.
For me, the Tom Yum soup is an always get.
My husband has gotten the duck every time without regret. It’s fabulous!
I’ve gotten various other things that all run together because it really is all so good (and I can’t pronounce many of the names let alone spell them).

Go visit this lovely restaurant and enjoy a beautiful meal ❤️

Diner Review №17

I believe it is the owner who seated us and he was gracious and the food was top quality and not very expensive. We enjoyed it very much

Diner Review №18

The food here was a pleasant surprise! Very tasty, fresh and service was fast! If you like spice, this is is the place for you. They can adjust the spice level of certain menu items to fit your preference. The servers were lovely as well! Highly recommend the crab rangoons and dumplings! They were SO yummy!

Diner Review №19

Make sure to get the spicier food. The milder food doesn't have too much flavor.

Diner Review №20

Was driving through and stopped due to rating.. not realizing it's from being the only Thai place in town! Food was very poor tasting. Service was authoritarian.... and 18% gratuity added by default for poor dictator service & the buzzing house flies.

Diner Review №21

I have eaten at all 3 locations, Siam Elephant (Elmira), Thai Elephant (Watkins Glen), and 9 Elephants (Corning). All provide great food and wonderful service. Friendly staff at all 3. My favorite is the Watkins location. Their food presentation is the best. Lay I remember, it is BYOB, but that was never an issue. I like the location because it is within walking distance of the lake. You can take an after-dinner stroll on the pier.

All in all, the food is the same at all 3 and is wonderful. Many options to choose from, including vegetarian.

Diner Review №22

Didn’t feel exactly welcomed here.
The food was ok, either too sweet or extremely spicy. Definitely overpriced for the amount of food they provide. Won’t be coming back

Diner Review №23

I've chosen this restaurant because it is on my road trip, and I wanted to give Thai cuisine another try after a terrible experience with a pad Thai dish at Go Sy Thai. The restaurant is fancy, and while the prices are expensive, the food did not meet my expectations. Note that this is just my point of view. I ordered pad Thai again, and it was still overly sweet. For me, sweetness is meant for cakes or desserts, not for a main dish. The boba teas and other drinks were also very sweet. I didn't taste the mildness of cane sugar; it seemed like they used chemical sweeteners instead.

Diner Review №24

Awesome food 🥘

Diner Review №25

Everything we ordered was good, the flavors were perfect and not too over the top! We enjoyed the drunken noodle, the crab Rangoon, vegetable dumplings, chicken salad, Thai basil sauce. Would recommend all of them

Always happy with our food, whether eat in or take out. Eat in service is very good and the staff are very friendly and attentive! Highly recommend!

Authentic and masterfully crafted Thai with staff that exceeds expectation. I’ll be coming here regularly. With a diverse and well balanced menu, this is your #1 Thai in maybe all of New York.

Diner Review №43

As someone that has had thai food from many major cities, I must say that this place is a gem. The food is top notch, reasonably price considering the portions, the staff is friendly and attentive, and the ambience is very nice and comfortable. Also, do yourself a service and order something outside of your comfort zone; I have not had anything yet that I didn't love.

Diner Review №44

The food is quite tasty. Service on point. Quantity is enough for a complete meal.
I'd recommend their red curry, thai basil fried rice (especially with mock duck) & pad thai noodles.

Diner Review №45

I ordered door dash, delivery was really quick. Food was fantastic. I can't wait to order again. Thank you

Diner Review №49

My new fav food is the pork or scallop pad thai and get a Thai ice coffee...

Diner Review №50

Just finished our meal here and it was great! We’ve had Thai food all over the US and this hit all the right notes.
The atmosphere was clean and bright.
The service was gracious, pleasant, and fast.
And the food was phenomenal! Everything from our appetizers to our mains was delicious, fresh, and vibrant.
Zero complaints or critiques.
We absolutely will be back!

Diner Review №51

Very pleased. Friendly, clean, and great food

Diner Review №52

Diner Review №53

This was one of the only restaurants in Elmira that was open on a Tuesday which appealed to me. I had the Summer Rolls appetizer, and Cashew Nut Sauce on Chicken which I ordered not hot. The summer rolls were excellent with peanut sauce. The chicken was way too hot. I told the waitress that it was too hot and asked what I would have to say in order for it not to be hot and she said ask for the sauce on the side?? Making things too hot is alienating your customers! You should make your dishes mild unless you know the customer and he wants it hot. You can always add heat but you can't take it away!

Diner Review №54

Very good food, good service, culturally cozy place. Would love to come back!!

Diner Review №55

We highly recommend as the chef is excellent! The presentation of our selection was top notch. it appears as though the chef has much experience in the culinary arts. The waitress was courteous.

Diner Review №56

Very nice place to eat. Excellent service. Service done right. Thank you

Diner Review №66

Diner Review №67

The people that work here are INCREDIBLE. They always write sweet notes on DoorDash orders and genuinely care about if the customer is enjoying themselves. They put hard work into their food and drinks, and even have boba! This is a great place to eat and it’s a local small business so give them your support and try some new delicious food. 😁

Diner Review №68

Really enjoyed the food and service.

Diner Review №69

Really amazing food and helpful, polite staff! The flavors are robust and quality is great, nice plating. The cut of salmon my friend had was very impressive, nice nice nice. Super great crab rangoons... they were uh... gone before I could snap a photo.

Do plan to visit again.

Diner Review №70

Sai was very friendly and suggested the dishes. We enjoyed the food and it was very tasty. Surely recommend it. Enjoy

Diner Review №71

Decent Thai-themed restaurant.

Diner Review №72

Always a fan of Thai cuisine. The balance of spice level and flavors are too good. I prefer spicy food, so got Thai level spice . We ordered some soup tom kha soup, tom yum soup, appetizers chicken satay, crab Rangoon, entrees spicy basil fried rice, drunken noodles, cashew sauce stir fried vegetables with jasmine rice and fried ice cream for dessert which was the best way to end our meal. I loved every dish and the whole group was overwhelmed with the taste and enjoyed everything!!

Diner Review №73

Diner Review №87

Diner Review №88

Diner Review №89

Decent Thai food, especially for Elmira. Take out portions were relatively small compared to the price.

Diner Review №90

Siam is our comfort food! They have the best Thai food and curry and bangin Crab Rangoons. Don't forget to grab you a Thai Iced Tea!! Liquid from Heaven I swearrrrr. 😍

Diner Review №91

Best tom ka in Central newyork. Very clean and great service

Diner Review №92

Great restaurant and staff! Place is very welcoming and the food is absolutely amazing. If you're near Elmira, do yourself a favor and eat hete!

Diner Review №93

We ordered chicken drunken noodles and it was all mush. Very overcooked and not spicy at all. Cashew nut beef was not spicy at all (even though she confirmed 3 times that I can handle spicy) and flavor was very similar to drunken noodles. Crab Rangoon were delicious but $6.95 for 4 is insanely over priced.
Prices are too high, including the lunch specials. The water provided tastes like tap water.
People are very friendly and attentive.

Diner Review №94

Food was beautiful, and the flavors worked perfectly together!

Diner Review №95

Very good!

Diner Review №96

The green curry is so good

Diner Review №97

What a great place! Everyone is so nice and the food was wonderful! I had the tom kah soup, crispy duck red curry, a taro milk tea and mango sticky rice and it was all quite tasty.

Diner Review №98

Everytime I go it’s great

Diner Review №99

Delicious food, excellent service, friendly and helpful staff.

Diner Review №100

First time Here! Lunch was very Tasty! Nice Atmosphere Too! Little difficult to get to right now because practically the whole Downtown is under Construction! But worth the block or so walk ( unless you get lucky and a spot is open out front)I Say!! Not bad prices either.

Diner Review №101

I tried boba tea for the first time here. It was very good but learned quickly that a small means extra ice. I recommend getting the large for $1 more.

Diner Review №102

Nice place tucked in the corner of a Main Street. Place is well set up, nice ambience and of course the food is great. Is made fresh to order and they customize to your needs. Some beautiful options to choose from. Try all or any of their Mango made items…

Diner Review №103

Food was delicious and lots of it, prices are abit above average but well worth it, very friendly staff that are always checking on you to see if you need something else. We will definitely be back again soon. Took wife her for her birthday and I scored big points, making her happy. She had the teriyaki salmon and I had chicken with garlic sauce which was to die for if you like lots of veggies and garlic. She said it was the best salmon she has had ever, funny part is she couldn't finish hers and got a Togo container only to forget it leaving it on the table, didn't realize it till we were home, all the more reason to visit again.

Diner Review №104

Diner Review №105

Delicious and surprising stop on a trip through the area. The service and atmosphere were great. I'm sure it's popular among the locals. Best brown sugar milk tea ever! The boba was cooked to perfection!

Diner Review №106

Fresh surprise was my first yet lasting impression. When you step inside, you are not in run of the mill upstate anymore. This is a model restaurant and should be looked to for inspiration!

Diner Review №107

5 out of 5 isn't high enough!!! The food, service, and atmosphere was incredible!
Dumplings were fresh and tasty
Duck pad Thai was flavorful, juicy, and filling
Dessert was mango sticky rice and mango cheesecake, both homemade and perfection

Diner Review №108

Food is really good, tasty. The service is impeccable. The owners, folks that work there treat you as if you're part of 'their' family. Great service, awesome food at a decent price point...exactly what I look for in a good restaurant.

Diner Review №113

Diner Review №114

I got food poisoning from here at Siam Elephants in Elmira. It was the only food I ate that day and I had the worse night of my life. The shrimp tasted way off and then it cleaned me out! Too bad because I've never gone wrong with their Watkins Glen restaurant.

Diner Review №115

Excellent - quite a find. If you're driving by Elmira - stop in - it's a bout a 5 min drive from the highway and well worth the visit! Totally YUMMY, authentic, fresh food - and right down town in old-town Elmira. Take a break and go visit!

Diner Review №116

Diner Review №117

Diner Review №138

Diner Review №139

Nice wait staff in ethnic dress. Food yummy. Had tofu and duck and both top notch flavor and texture. Thai roll as appetizer also tops. Enjoy

Diner Review №140

Delicious, fast, friendly, clean, and a departure from the ordinary - a good experience across the board when we went for sit-down service.

We went on Saturday for lunch, so not very crowded, so the staff was quite attentive. The owner (I presume she was) was quite friendly and welcoming with our little ones. From time of ordering to food coming out, it must've been less than 5 minutes - try getting that from a fast food drive-thru!

Food was delicious - between us all, we had noodles, fried rice, dessert and Thai soft drinks. The fried banana, which is essentially banana and coconut in a spring roll with a honey, was a favorite I wasn't expecting, and I look forward to trying the rest. The hand cut vegetable garnish added a charming touch to all dishes.

The parking situation was a little tricky, but no worse than any of the other downtown places. It might actually be worth it to give us an excuse to get out and breathe some life into the Elmira downtown scene.

More good to be said about Siam Elephants, but probably best if you just see for yourselves - we'll be going back for sure.

Diner Review №141

Drunkin’ Noodles are amazing

Diner Review №142

Great service, great food
I don't care for dining out, but I will definitely go here again

Diner Review №143

The hot ginger tea was amazing! I had the pad thai, also very good.

Diner Review №144

My friend came to visit today and wanted asian food. I'm not an adventurous eater so had to think quick about what elmira had to offer and remembered noticing this place looked lovely every time I've passed it and it seemed popular so I recommended it to her. I'm so glad I did. It was such a lovely dining experience. Wonderfully friendly staff. Beautiful calm environment. The food presentation and appearance was lovelier than the photos and fragrant. We ordered red curry with chicken. It was colorful and flavorful. If you like spicy make sure to ask for at least a medium. The carrots were cut into flowers. The rice came out plated like a heart. My daughter enjoyed her strawberry smoothie and we had the pink Thai milk. For a girls lunch out it was exactly what I needed. Thank you ❤

Diner Review №145

This is some of the best Thai food I’ve had in a long time! After living in NYC and Westchester for as long as I have and eating at Thai restaurants around the tristate, this place is a cut above the rest. I was home visiting family and decided to give it a shot—I’m so happy I did! Excellent service. Beautiful attention to detail. Welcoming atmosphere and positive energy. And the food was beyond. Siam Elephants is a gem that downtown Elmira has needed for a very, very long time.

Diner Review №146

I’m from Brooklyn and I’ve had a lot of Thai from a lot of restaurants and this is some of the BEST I’ve ever had. We were greeting with charming, beautiful Thai decor and music. My wife ordered a Thai iced tea with a strawberry-milk frozen bear floating in the class. SO cute. The peanut chicken and lobster pad Thai were amazing, and the service was polite, prompt, and gracious. We are definitely coming every time we come back to Elmira!

Diner Review №147

Diner Review №153

We ordered a ton of food and everything was excellent! I especially liked the mock duck and the drunken noodles.

Diner Review №154

Diner Review №155

I ordered the Thai Basil fried rice, Thai hot with beef. the flavor was sub par, the portion was very small for 15.00, the beef was very dry and there was no basil flavor or basil in my fried basil Thai rice. I have had Thai food all over the world..... this was the forth worst Thai food I have had in my military travels.

Diner Review №156

This place is beautiful with great service and excellent food!

Diner Review №157

The staff is amazing and so is the food! Everything was delicious and authentic

Diner Review №158

I am in love with their spring rolls! So far i have tried the green curry, pad thai, and drunken noodles and all of them were excellent. They don’t skimp on the spice — I love spicy food but medium is my preferred level here.

Diner Review №159

Diner Review №175

The best Thai food in Upstate NY. I tried Mai Thai and Thai Time, but they can’t compare with Siam Elephant 🐘. Siam is real authentic Thai Food! It’s hard to find good Thai Food Upstate New York, but Siam Elephant is authentic. Quality food, superior 👍🏾

Diner Review №176

Always enjoy visiting all of their locations! Lobster pad Thai and Thai tea is a MUST!

Diner Review №177

Diner Review №178

Best Thai food in the area! The pad thai was amazing and the staff were so friendly. Highly recommend.

Diner Review №179

The most authentic Thai restaurant I found in the elmira/Horseheads area. I tried pad Thai at several different restaurants and found theirs to be the best tasting and most accurate in terms of spice. I was also happy to see that they don't cut corners and use the traditional flat wide noodles with their pad ke mao(drunken noodles). Their staff was very friendly and I will be recommending this place to all of my friends!

Really kind servers, fun atmosphere, great food. My mom and I stopped here on our trip between Chicago and Ithaca and it was perfect. Highly recommend the drunken noodles!

Both the food and service were excellent! The staff are extremely friendly and aware of (and accommodating to) vegetarian and vegan diets. They substituted coconut milk for me in the Thai iced tea and made my drunken noodles “Thai hot” as requested. They were so spicy and so delicious! I highly recommend.

Getting to the location is not bad with available parking in the front. Mostly you can park behind the building. Depending on the time and day it might be full. That's quite normal on a Friday evening.

As you enter the front you notice the beautiful architecture especially above the ceiling. The lighting was warm and cultural infused. No music was played or the TV's were playing images. I believe it was a soft opening and they were still iron out some issues.

We were greeted warmly by the hostess and asked us how many people will be dining in. We then were redirected to take our temperature and hand sanitizer. As we follow our hostess we approached the booth in a wooden backing with a soft leathery seating. The table was a little high but you had to adapt by moving your body up to the table.

Once seated we had a plates, utensils, glass wine glasses and cold water with ice. The waitress gave us our menu and gave us time to review the menu. The menu was decent price with array of curry to seafood selections. Once we ordered it took awhile for the first appetizer to arrive but the waitress was apologetic. Then came our main course. It was delicious with mix of different species depending on the meal.

The whole experience was good! The waitress was amazing and very friendly. We will definitely come back for more.

Not too bad, considering the fact that there are no other Thai restaurants. The portion size is just good enough for our toddler boy. The exclusivity helps them thrive. I am considering to start my own Thai restaurant with better food and portion size.

Wonderfully prepared dishes and great staff! Everything was delicious and authentic.

Diner Review №192

Our food was delicious. It was our first time there. The only thing that we didn't like was we had 7 people in our group and we had to sit at 2 different booths across from each other. So it was probably annoying to other guest that were there dining. So it will be awesome when covid restrictions are completely done. We will definitely go back 🙂

Stop looking at reviews and just go to this place. Amazing service and the food is just SO good. Get the drunken noodles with chicken if you don’t know what to get. If you go on your birthday it’s the best thing that could happen to you.

The food here is absolutely amazing. Always consistent good service as well. Must try!

Delicious food. Same great quality as Nine Elephants in Corning. Drunken noodles are delicious and always consistent. My go to appetizer Chicken Satay with the peanut sauce dip Mmmmm. Staff is always pleasant and they double check the takeout order items and pickup name like a good business should. As a note mild has some spice to it and medium is hot. Have not dared to go higher, even though i love Spicy. Great place all around.

Excellent place for Thai food! We had some Chicken Satay, Shrimp Pad Thai, Tom Yum soup, coconut rice, fried cheese cake, and fresh sliced mango over coconut rice.

All the the food was excellent! The servings were not enormous but definitely enough. I think we ordered a soup, appetizer, and an entree for the 2 of us.

I would definitely recommend eating here!
