Casual, contemporary option for Japanese & Thai fusion fare plus creative martinis.
Would be 5 stars but the snotty little girl at the host stand ruined that! Keep in mind that this review is actually from earlier in the year but still… my friend and I walked in and asked to be seated inside and the girl immediately said there is nothing available inside…you have to sit outside….as I’m looking around 3/4 of the tables inside are empty so I actually mentioned that, she proceeded to tell me that they’re all reserved and you have to sit outside… I knew that wasn’t true but we walked out… then I walked back in….acted like I was going to sit in the bar and then asked the bartender if the tables in the dining room were actually all reserved…she laughed and said not at all, then she asked if that’s where we wanted to sit…and she took it upon herself to sit us inside in the main dining room….we walked past the snotty girl on the way to the table and she gave us a dirty look, don’t lie and cause the business that you work for to potentially lose business!! Besides that fact the service from our waiter was excellent and the food was superb!!
After a long drive we arrived in the evening at the Pacific rim restaurant. De owner was very friendly and ordered within minutes a few complimentary appetizers for the kids to eat, because they were very hungry. They loved it.
We love, love, love thai food...and this was amazing. We ordered the red curry chicken (spicy) and fried rice, and it was delicious!
We would recommend it!
We ordered 4 bagel rolls and 1 tornado roll for our Valentine’s Day dinner. They sent 5 different rolls which were not at all what we had ordered. I called the restaurant and initially they offered to change them but then said I needed to take it up with UberEats. UberEats just refunded a small amount on an $60 order. Disappointed on the restaurant on getting the order so wrong and not owning and correcting their mistake. Ruined evening! First and last time I try this. Will stick with Kojo in downtown!!
If you know, you know -it’s the best secret where all the locals go. Food is authentic, fresh, you can’t go wrong with any roll or wok. The bar is the place to be! All the bartenders are so friendly & attentive. Highly recommend the geisha martini. But the entire restaurant has a warm atmosphere. Also such a fun place to celebrate a birthday!
Awesome experience tonight! Chelsea the bartender was super funny and made some lovely drinks! The food came out fast and was delicious! Sushi was on point and the crowd at the bar was very entertaining. Will be back for Chelsea’s great service and yummy food of course! Rock on pacific rim!
The food is consistently delicious and the presentation is beautiful. The attention to detail, and devotion to guest service is outstanding. They make you feel like family
I can't wait to come back and try more dishes. Keep up the great work!"
Great food and Kae our server was awesome!!!

Really good food, service is usually good place is always busy but considering they do well with service. Atmosphere is always solid

had a lovely time, the wait staff was great and the food was phenomenal.
we made a reservation so we walked right in and had drinks and food in very little time considering its was peak business hours, they were quick and everything was delicious.
Amazing restaurant and food!! Great atmosphere and Vet is genuinely awesome!!🤩
Jenni D was our server. She was so nice, friendly and provided excellent service. She really knows how to talk to people and provide service with a smile. While talking to her we found out that she lived in our same state before moving to Sarasota. The food was excellent came out hot and just was we requested. We had wok teriyaki steak, sushi, fried rice, yakisoba noodles and she even gave us a comp dessert of ice cream with flaked tempura which was really sweet. The owner even came by to say hello. We come down to visit family each year and I will definitely be back to Pacific Rim. If anyone is on vacation or even if you live near Sarasota definitely visit this restaurant you will not be disappointed.
Always love the food here! There’s some new items on the menu like the duck red curry it’s AMAZING. Super crispy duck with a delicious creamy red curry. Top tier. Drinks are so good and the bartenders are super attentive and friendly! 10/10 highly recommend.

Pacific Rim never fails to deliver! They provide the freshest food and the presentation is amazing! The vibe is super cool and the service is excellent! This is a great spot to celebrate a birthday, a special night, or just any night! This place is top notch!

Very kind and compassion professional stellar restaurant I recommend them for anyone
Love this place!
Convenient location with fresh selections and the fast chef staff gets meals out quickly.
Salad had way too much dressing. I couldn't even see the lettuce it was loaded with dressing. Miso soup was fair/ bland. Drinks are pricey 16++. Service was friendly and on point.
As always, the best sushi in town.
We had a reservation, we were seated in a timely manner! But we waited 25 min and no one greeted us, go one asked for our order or nothing. Really upsetting because it was a birthday reservation. Safe to say that I’ll never come back again.
The food is always on point and the service is good. The siam noodles with chicken and vegetable dumplings were a hit with my girlfriend and I had the drunken noodles with the poppers. My only suggestion would be to make the drunken noodles spicier since they are rated 2 🌶️🌶️ on the menu. Overall, always a good experience.
Exceptional service, splendid ambience. The owner makes it his duty to greet his guests. Celebrated a birthday.
Went for a spur of the moment dinner and Pacific Rim did not disappoint. Delicious sushi and drinks. Our waitress, Kae, was amazing and made the night that much better. She was very cheerful and showed the true meaning of excellent customer service.
We were visiting elderly relatives who recommended this place. Near a hospital, in a strip mall, on a busy street...never would've found this 'gem'. But this for Aunt B having a 'jones' for sushi...off we go into what felt like a magical space. Greeted by total welcome ... but, we're just doing take out ... no problem. Surveying the vast array of fresh sushi grade fish, soups and wider choices we ordered $80+ worth of their fare - Spiders, Unakyu, Gyoza, Poke Bowls and a few Miso soups. As we waited we watched as the place filled up with devoted regulars and followers. Not only was the fare over the top but the value won a top spot on our Sarasota must return list. ありがとう
Arigatō
great atmosphere. awsome sushi . establishment goes over beond service you...
hot saki good.
Love boat was over top. never had bad experience here .
family owend .great Local spot
CALL MAKE RES. they get busy .
lots great thai inspired food on menue also. some best in town highly recommended.
First let me say that the food our party ordered was really good. Two ordered the fried rice one with chicken and the other with the beef. My wife ordered the garlic wok with beef and I ordered the teriyaki chicken with vegetables. I also ordered a California roll which was ok. Had better but also had worse.
Now, let me vent a little. When we arrived we were seated on the bar side of the restaurant. It was very dark and a couple of our party members could barely read their menus. They had to use their flashlights on their cell phones. Also, who could have known that a female bartender and two male patrons could be so loud. Let me tell you, the bartender was working hard for those tips. Laughing and carrying on, coming around the bar to snap selfies with the older gentleman who was giving her a ton of attention.
About a third of the way through our meal the song dancing queen came on and it was so loud that we couldn’t hold a conversation and it was hurting our ears. We were finally told it was a birthday party.
One of our party went to the bathroom and came back to tell us how awesome the other side of the restaurant was. Now this peaked everyone’s attention and we all had to see. The other side looked like a different restaurant. Was very open, nicely lit and not as loud as the bar side. Wish we would have been given the option to sit over there. We will know to ask next time.
And yes, there will be a next time!!
Great service, atmosphere and buttery, delicious sushi, and pad thai.
Great sushi, great experience!
I had the Chef's Sashimi Dinner....I was in heaven....four different raw sushi grade fish. So good.
Nothing bad to say about this place. Food is consistent. Love the drink options. And the atmosphere is always fun spirited.
Had a dinner for 16 people for my daughter’s 16th birthday. The service was amazing and so kind. Everything was set up so nicely.
Monday are for evenings with friends.
(and good eats)
Definitely worth it. Consistency wins every time! 👍🏽
This was my first time coming here with my family. Excellent service, atmosphere and food. For appetizers we had chicken on a stick with peanut sauce, dumplings, and salads. I was the only one who didn’t get salad. The chicken was cooked perfectly and not dried out. The peanut sauce I dipped it in was delicious. The dumplings were also delicious. Then our dinners came, I split a variety of sushi with my Dad and Uncle. My Mom got her own dinner. She ate Chicken with pasta. She enjoyed it. Last but not least for dessert I ate mango ice cream it was delicious too. I am hoping to look for many more visits.
Excellent as always!
It is SOOO loud in here. It's a combination of both poor interior design causing conversation to be loudly reflected and playing very loud music at the same time. Do not plan to have a conversation with your dinnermate at all. To make it worse, the service is really slow. The food is pretty decent but not worth the awful noise and lack of service. I heavily recommend taking care of the sound issue, both by implementing some noise-dampening measures and turning the music down, because it's not safe for your workers to spend hours in such an environment.
Good sushi, but otherwise overrated.
Pacific Rim Restaurant in FL offers a delightful blend of Japanese and Thai cuisine. The food is a flavorful fusion, combining the best of both worlds. The ambiance is inviting, with a touch of cultural charm. The sushi is fresh and the Thai dishes are bursting with authentic flavors. The service is friendly and attentive, adding to the overall enjoyable experience. It's a great spot for those craving a mix of Asian tastes in a welcoming setting.
Sushi here is absolutely epic. Love the scenery and the hott staff working here. Even the owner is a kewl dude.
Now that Yume Sushi has closed, my 2nd favorite Bento box meal at Pacific Rim moved up a spot.
Very bad service. Don't care your customers.
The food is really good second only to their hospitality. We really enjoy pac rim.
One of my favorite restaurants in SRQ.
Great intimate bar!
Delicious Thai food and beautiful and tasty sushi !
Very nice atmosphere ❤️
An over the top sushi place with an eye for detail. Absolutely fabulous all the way around !!!
Ordered a sushi boat for my birthday and it was FABULOUS ! Easy to pick up/deliver, food was delicious, and everyone was happy at my party. Will definitely have Pacific Rim cater for me again !
I tried to walk in to eat dinner here and the hostesses told me that they couldn’t accommodate our party size. When I asked about wait time, they actually laughed at us…so we left.
I got the appetizer fried calamari.
My favorite and because they don't open til 4pm and I'm never in the area I got 2 orders as a meal. It's very meaty and not like a pub order. It's so good.
So the only downside to Pacific rim is the hours of operation. It would be nice for lunch hours during the weekend.
This restaurant is stunning and the food is delicious. I tried the vegetable curry and a few sushi rolls. Everything was delish! Great spot for a date night or a girls night out!
Great Food !
Great Service!
Great Atmosphere!!
Best sushi in town. Period.
The restaurant is beautiful. Very moody ambient lighting, some tables have sofas for seating (not sure how hygienic that is but it looks comfy). The food is so-so. I had the squid pad thai. It was not the best pad thai I've had but it was really good. The noodles were cooked well and the sauce was tasty plentiful. There was a lot more peanuts in it though than I remember pad thai normally having. My girlfriend had the seafood combo yellow curry. For whatever reason, they served the shrimp with the tail still attached in a soup. In the whole soup there was only 3 shrimp, 3 scallops, and 3 pieces of squid. Not a great seafood to soup ratio. Also, for unknown reasons, they gave us knives with our meals (noodles and soup). Doesn't make much sense but whatever, just something I noticed. Overall I can't say I was impressed but it wasn't terrible.
It was my first visit and I will definitely be back! They weren't too busy but it was Sunday afternoon. Very clean, comfortable seating, and delicious food!
El mejor sushi 🍣 que eh comido
Sushi is 5-star. Drunken noodles are 0-stars. I love, love, love Thai food and it is usually so flavorful, but this was absolutely tasteless minus a little spice that you get. It doesn't even look appetizing. I've eaten sushi (only) from here and it's pretty amazing. I will not order anything other than sushi from here again. Pretty disappointed.
Went on Sunday for an early dinner, so we had no wait. Absolutely phenomenal sushi. Super fresh, great flavor combos, and surprisingly decent prices! Had a mixture of sashimi, specialty rolls, apps, salads & soups. Ginger dressing was probably the freshest I’ve ever tasted. Generous portions. Everything was presented beautifully—like art! We were too full to order dessert and had leftovers! Easy to park right out front.
The food was mediocre and overpriced. I am baffled at the positive reviews.
I will comeback
Highly recommend the Siam noodles. So tasty and the google roll is the best. Service was also great!
Great food - recommend the Thai lettece wraps appetizer. Good wine selection. Nice venue
Sushi just OK. This is my 2nd time dining here. I gave it one more chance. Sushi just ok!
I’ve been here on many occasions. The atmosphere is unmatched. The food is incredible. And the service is impeccable. Every time I’ve been there the owner has been there. He works alongside his employees and is eager to make sure you have a five star dinning experience.
Best sushi in Sarasota. Ask for sushi chef Brian, one of the most experienced chefs in Florida. Definitely worth the visit if you want an upscale, fashionable, and eclectic Asian restaurant experience for a relatively reasonable price. One thing is that it's time to move away from the photocopied menus which sit on the table for your entire dinner. Penciling in quantities of sushi rolls is a little too Chinese takeout-esque for these days.
COCKROACHES. I was visiting this restaurant with my mother June 2023 and was sat next to the sushi bar. First, my mother received a dirty glass with lipstick on it. We let that go and requested bottled water. While sitting I saw a cockroach run up the sushi bar wall and make it's way to the other side. We debated leaving and should have, but we stayed long enough that I saw another roach climb up on the underside of plate that was to be served to a patron. Disgusting. I regret not taking a photo so I could post this.
While I enjoyed food here before, I could never return to this establishment after this experience. Owners, please take care of this ASAP!
Great food... Weird botox environment.
Service was friendly, but table forgotten. Food took time and was average.
Pacific rim really is a place like no other,
the sushi is crafted with
precision and care, and the experience
was nothing short of magical.
From the moment you stepped inside,
you were greeted with a warm and
welcoming atmosphere, complete with
clearly updated decor and cozy seating. The
restaurant is family-owned and local,
which adds to the sense of community
and supportiveness that pervaded the
entire establishment.
The menu at Pacific Rim is also pretty expansive
featuring an array of sushi options that
would satisfy even the most discerning
palate. But what truly sets this restaurant
apart is the owner, Veth, who has a
special talent for creating off-menu
sushi items that resembles the
omakase places in NYC and California
Each bite was a journey through flavor
and texture, and it was clear that Veth
has a deep passion for his craft. And
despite the exceptional quality of the
sushi, Pacific Rim is surprisingly
affordable, which made it accessible to
all.
But the true magic of Pacific Rim is
experienced on a weekend night, when
the illuminated outdoor seating area
became the place to be. The ambiance
Is simply breathtaking, with soft
lighting and the gentle sound of the
nearby fountain creating an atmosphere
of relaxation and joy.
In conclusion, Pacific Rim in Sarasota,
Florida is not just a sushi restaurant, it
is an experience that cannot be missed
From the exquisite sushi to the warm
and welcoming atmosphere, to the
sense of community and
supportiveness of local businesses, and
the sheer magic of a weekend night at
Pacific Rim, this is truly the best sushi
restaurant in Sarasota, Florida
I recently got take out from Pacific Rim, and to say that the experience was dreadful would be an understatement. The food I received was nothing short of god awful, leaving a sour taste in my mouth that lingers even as I write this review.
The first red flag appeared when I received my order of Lemon Grass Chicken which came with noodles, which were not only overcooked but also watered down. It seemed as though the flavors had been diluted to the point of tastelessness. The protein accompanying the dish suffered the same fate, with an unmistakable overcooked texture that made it inedible. It was a meal that lacked any semblance of quality or care in its preparation.
To address this disappointing experience, I decided to call and speak to a manager. Unfortunately, I was met with utter disappointment yet again. The manager, who claimed to be too busy to speak at the time, conveniently failed to return my call for a full 24 hours. When I finally reached them, their attitude was nothing short of rude and disrespectful.
Instead of acknowledging the legitimate concerns I raised, the manager engaged in a futile argument, disregarding my feedback and refusing to take any responsibility for the abysmal meal and poor customer service. It was clear that they had no intention of rectifying the situation or even offering an apology.
Needless to say, after this woeful experience and the complete lack of professionalism demonstrated by the manager, I will never set foot in Pacific Rim again. It is disheartening to witness such disregard for customer satisfaction and a complete disregard for culinary standards.
I strongly advise anyone considering dining at Pacific Rim to think twice and seek alternatives where quality, taste, and customer service are valued. Save yourself the disappointment and frustration that I endured and choose a restaurant that prioritizes their patrons' satisfaction.
Rating: ⭐ (- out of 5 stars)
Great food. Professional staff .highly recommended the restaurant.
The tempura dinner was delicious and huge. My friend loved her pineapple rice as well
Great cocktails
Delicious sushi
Always fresh and delicious! Service was Excellent!
Came in alone after work, looking slightly disheveled to be honest, and sat at the bar, Zoe was tending the bar and she was fabulous, Good pours and friendly. I had a catapillar roll and the most buttery smoked salmon. Wonderful atmosphere, even with a packed bartop, been attempting to come here with friends for years but always got out voted. Now I'm mad at those friends. LOL. Can't put another sushi joint above them at the moment.
What a great place!! Even on a hot day the outside covered space is very comfortable. The sushi and curry were great with a great wine selection. Would recommend
Sushi was great. Seemed to be a really popular place
Angelina is amazing! We loved her recommendations and the food is always very fresh.
Very nice decor. This restaurant would be great for date night…if you order well…and don’t focus on the service. While one young lady who greeted us at the door was an absolute delight, the other ladies at the host stand did not make us feel overly welcome. Our server wasn’t exactly personable either, but everyone in our party except for one person (me!) enjoyed their food. I might give this place a second chance just based on the overall ambiance and how good the other dishes were. Maybe I’m expecting too much. Feels like the days of staff members greeting you with genuine smiles that reach their eyes is a thing of the past.
I've eaten here several times. Food is good, sushi is average, Thai is the shining star. The owner is gracious, but hostesses and wait staff need a refresher course on good service. Despite having a reservation we waited for a table for 30 mins and then were given a table facing the restroom. Our waitress rushed our service, forgot an appetizer and double charged us for an entree. Cocktails from the bar were mediocre. It was a busy Saturday night, but they can do better.
Although the environment is getting a little dated and parking is always difficult. The sushi here is simply the best in town. When most of the sushi places are shrinking their portion sizes, charging more et cetera, These guys continue to serve sushi the way it's supposed to be served.
I'm so glad I came back to try it again. Ask the answer I'm looking for.
Wonderful lunch with my Mom . We walked in at 110 and they sat and served us like we had all day even though they closed at 2.
Food was on point
I had the seaweed salad and SRQ roll
The rolls were a little disappointing, I expected the Texas roll to be a little more crunchy. I was glad that they had the toro tuna, because every other sushi restaurant in the area I’ve been to has always been out of it. But overall it was still worth it.
Great restaurant, nice service
Disappointed! we were there for dinner on Saturday, Feb 18th 2023. My husband ordered the Lemongrass dish, which is one of what they call Signature Dishes. It looked like a soup served in a rather small high side bowl with a lot of broth! It was our second time going at Pacific Rim. The restaurant was packed and very loud and very dark ; we had to use our phone's light to be able to read the very long menu! My food wasn't as good as the first time we went there!
Have been coming here for over 10 years. Have had nothing but good service and good experiences over the previous 10 years, today, ordered takeout for the first time picked up my order brought it home. It was the incorrect order, returned to the restaurant no offer of compensation, or nothing made me give back the food that I already opened the incorrect order. Did not say one word as far as sorry for the mishap or anything, I am very shocked at the lack of customer service given the previous 10 years have been impeccable. Very disappointed with this visit. This will definitely change my view on returning to this establishment in the future and recommending it to friends and family. Food ended up being cold once getting home because it was sitting for 45 minutes having to return back to the establishment. Very disappointed. Would like to be contacted by the manager.
Small feel with fast and friendly staff. Sushi is fresh!
Horrible experience
I ordered miso soup that I never got. Part of our party ordered soup and salad that came out after her main dish. It seemed very chaotic and disorganized in there.
I truly enjoy eating at Pacific Rim. The owner is hands on to ensure guest are taken care of. The food is always fresh and tasty.
So yum 😋 again and again
This place was beautiful on the inside. Ended up going out to dinner with my boyfriend for date night on Friday. Parking can be a pain in the butt depending on the time you arrive. The alcohol drinks were a little lacking on the alcohol and the sushi wasn't really all that to talk about. Very lacking in seasoning. The server was a little slow and took a long time to take our order and bring it back.
Food is usually excellent. But last night when I got to go they said 40 minutes for pickup. I ended up waiting well over an hour. Then had hair in my food when I got home unfortunately.
This had been a Sarasota staple for years. The food and service are consistent there's a reason it's been open for 20 plus years
Great atmosphere, great staff, awesome food!!!
This has been my favorite sushi place for 15 years and running!!
We ate there last night and had a curry and stir fry entre. Both were literally disgusting. Mine was in a pool of water with hardly any taste and very skimpy sirloin and vegetables. NY Chinese takeout is much better. Sushi has fallen below average since COVID. On par with grocery store sushi.
Not the most creative or authentic sushi menu around but everything was very fresh and we were satisfied. The miso was fresh and flavorful, I wouldn’t recommend ordering the chicken ginger salad. There were multiple ingredients shared on the menu not on the salad and the chicken was low quality / dry that came on the salad. Drink options are good but know they use low quality spirits (unless you ask) like Skyy or Smirnoff. Service is good overall.
Great service
Our favorite sushi spot. I love how they offer custom rolls where you choose the ingredients. They also have a cute outdoor setting area covered in twinkle lights. We had a great time celebrating my husband's bday there.
Wanted to check Sushi nearby…SINCERELY WORST experience ever!
Will return to JPan where they do not rip you off, quality & service are good (They even text you when Uni are in)!…
Pacific Rim:
$32 .95 +Tax for One Uni Sashimi that wasn’t even good not pieces but slimy… on top of that horrible service… (I wish I had taken a picture, if only I knew)
Can’t comprend how poorly it was handled when I asked for explanations…
Chef said to head waitress it was 3 pieces in one tiny mini cucumber=It wasn’t…Someone was lying & it wasn’t me!
Total bill for 2 Ikura, 1 (mini) Uni Sashimi & seaweed salad: $48.13
I know this item is pricey but it was absolutely unreasonable & I know about what it should be!
Not a difficult customer at all but can’t stand being ripped off!
Save yourself for better a place please!
After tonight 2-3 stars, prior to my experience tonight with my pad Thai order I would’ve given them 4 or 5 stars.
Sushi lunch: great, good portion (have only tried vegetarian sushi at this point)
Pad Thai: literally the worst pad Thai I have ever had in my whole life, if I could give zero stars I would. Also one of the most expensive for $19! I was really hoping the experience would be much different. Save your money & your tastebuds. Had absolutely no flavor, super bland, & almost tasted like they forgot half the ingredients despite looking like it had been seasoned. I’ve never had to put salt and soy sauce on my pad Thai, but has to eat a few bites going on shift overnight. They should just nix this off their menu.
Front hostess is always very friendly.
Our waitress was really pretty, she had red hair and a tattoo on one arm. I didn't catch her name or number though ahaha🙄 also really good sushi. Only issue was that it was pretty dark with dim lighting but if you're into that cool.
Pricey but delicious.
Sushi was great and the staff was really nice.
Great sushi!!
Good lunch menu. Reasonable prices. Service friendly.
Yummy, clean, and a wonderful atmosphere! Love coming here for date night! Never a disappointment and always recommend!
Pacific Rim has a great ambiance and an extensive menu of delicious foods, including sushi and even some "American" dishes. The service was exceptional and my meal (Massaman Curry) was rich, creamy and flavorful--some of the best I've had in Sarasota. We had casually mentioned to the table server that one of us was celebrating a birthday. At the end of our meal they surprised us with a large plate containing samples of many of all their desserts, complete with a candle and singing Happy Birthday--free of charge! I can't say enough good things about Pacific Rim. I will definitely be going back.
Visited here for lunch with friends. I ordered the Bento Box lunch special. It was mediocre at best. The tempura was heavy and oily. The spicy tuna roll wasn't even remotely spicy nor was it as fresh as it should have been. The miso soup was just OK and the salad was somewhat limp and had much more dressing than it needed. The service was prompt, accurate and friendly. The prices are reasonable. Unfortunately the quality of the food was not up to par. Most unlikely to try this place again.
A wonderful experience from start to finish. Our server Emily was amazing and made us feel so special, adding a few extra treats along the way - thanks Emily. The food was excellent as always. An added touch from the owner, stopping by to make sure we enjoyed our meal & treating us to ice cream cones for dessert. A call out to anyone who hasn’t tried it yet to visit, you won’t be disappointed.
5 meals and 1 like
Food and drinks were perfect! After leaving Tsunami to find a better place, Pacific Rim felt like heaven!
Awesome
Excellent service and food!
Pac Rim is always a stellar choice for Japanese cuisine and sushi alike! Attentive servers, a knowledgeable waitstaff and bartenders make this a sure spot to enjoy a company outing or to impress a date!
Texas roll is our favorite
The best rolls and great service!
Great service matched with great food!
Awesome sushi
Great sushi, the owner is a very nice guy too - definitely recommend their sushi’
Best sushi restaurant in Sarasota by far!
Great hospitality fresh seafood and good atmosphere
Very disappointing. First I want to say that I much prefer writing a good review because I'd rather be positive and tell the world about something great. However, this would be impossible in the case of Pacific Rim.
I should have known to avoid this place by their broken (not lighted) sign. We came on a Sunday at ~7:00pm and it was quite crowded and we waited 20+ minutes for a table. No complaints at this stage.
We ordered drinks, appetizer, sushi and one grilled chicken entrée.
The first problem was the service. Our server was either very new or very bad. When the tempura appetizer came we asked for Wasabi. She acknowledged the request but didn't return to the table until our entrée was ready. When the sushi was delivered there was no soy sauce. We asked for that (and was acknowledged), but when we flagger her down 10+ minutes later she was sorry that she forgot it!
Then comes the grilled chicken (fried rice and veggies). All were barely luke warm. After a couple disappointing bites we asked that it be reheated and they promised to make new. 15 minutes later they brought back the same components with the chicken so burnt that I couldn't cut through it, but the rice and broccoli were now cold. Perhaps this a new style of cuisine, but it doesn't work for me.
Honestly if that were the extend of my disappointments I wouldn't have bothered to write.
But then the manager came by to ask how we loved the food and I showed him my burnt chicken. He offered to remake it, but at this stage I was just ready to leave. He said he would take it off the bill.
The chicken was ~$19 and it was taken off the bill. However that meal came with soup and they decided to charge for it "ala carte".
ps: The sushi was 7-Eleven quality.
When you've had a HORRIBLE experience and are given a $52 bill, I suppose he knew he'd never see us a again. I assume the restaurant is on the verge of going bankrupt so the need to extract the $5 for the soup is understandable.
Food took a little while but it was well worth the wait. One of the best dinners I ever had!
I used to come here often. But in the last six months or so the food has really gone downhill.
Great outdoor space. Great sushi. Likely need reservations on Fri and Sat nights.
The food was good the waitress was excellent.
Pad thai is excellent!
We went to Pacific Rim for lunch this week. My partner enjoyed the pad Thai dish prepared with tofu. It was tasty and properly seasoned and presented. On the others hand, I ordered a sushi roll combination complete with soup and salad. Turned out the miso soup and salad were the best part of the lunch! The sushi rolls were tasteless. I have ordered sushi from numerous restaurants in Sarasota and elsewhere. These sushi rolls lacked flavor and a less than generous amount of fish. Never again.
Best sushi in Sarasota
Sushi was excellent
Maybe the stars are for the drinks because the food and service were below standard. So disappointed.
The sushi was warm, the sauce for the tempura was watered down and tasted of nothing. The sushi chef seemed to forget our order. Overall horrible experience waiting for warm old fish.
No masks. One dinner arrived almost cold. Coke refilled with flat coke from a pitcher. Restaurant maybe 1/2 full, but so noisy you could not here yourself think. All hard surfaces. No noise absorption on walls. I would not go back there on a bet.
