Thai & Lao Groceries & Prepared Food
One-stop place for food and groceries. The food was decent overall. Among the dishes we tried, I would recommend the Asia Sampler. However, the Tom Yum soup lacked the depth of flavor and the kick of Thai spice that I was hoping for. The sticky mango rice was slightly undercooked, and the Tiger Cry didn’t quite deliver the expected heat. I must admit, I was a bit disappointed. Perhaps the noodles and curries might be a hit there but we didn’t order them. Perhaps next time if we would dine here again.
Great place to meet a friend for lunch, the green curry is pretty good as well as the chicken Larb.
Great Thai groceries: you can get kaffir like leaves (and tree on special order) as well as all the special Thai cooking utensils like steamer basket and curry paste mortar/pestle.
After multiple recommendations we stopped in for dinner this is an Asian store with a restaurant as well like a michoacana meat market. The food was really good everything we had was amazing, however the service was very slow they only have like 2 waitress you also have to seat yourselves and the seating area is very small maybe 8 tables for like 30 people. When you finish you have to go pay at counter. Overall its just a very unorganized dining experience. If your in a hurry this is not your spot you will be waiting a lot. The food makes this spot a must try if your not in a hurry.
This place seems to be super authentic. It's both a restaurant and a Thai/Lao market. Our servers were very attentive and helpful as we decided what to eat.
We split some steamed pork dumplings which were good. My boyfriend got the Yentafo Pink Noodles. It was a super interesting noodle soup that we had never had and definitely something we would order again. I got the Kao Nam Tod which was not what I expected but was even better. It's like they took fried rice and threw it on a grill to get it super crispy and crunch. The flavor reminded me of Tom Yum soup too. I really enjoyed it.
If we lived in Houston, we would be regulars here for sure.
Tucked away in a strip mall between a Whataburger and an auto part store is Asía Market Thai Lao Food.
You walk in and the front half of the establishment is the restaurant and the market is in the back.
I was greeted by the guy behind the cash register, grabbed my menu from the counter and took a seat.
Drunken noodles are a fave so I knew I had to order that, I asked the waitress to choose a curry with chicken for me to try and I also ordered the soft spring rolls with shrimp.
I knew it would be a ton of food but this place came highly recommended and well I wanted to go all in as much as I could lol
While I sat and waited for my food I watched the place come to life, when I arrived it was myself and another table, by the time I left it was packed. At the table to my left a mother and son discussed the menu, it appears they come quite often and have had just about everything on the menu. They’re my kind of people because they seemed to be ordering an abundance of food for just the two of them, papaya salad, sausage, morning glory, curry, pineapple rice…. I mean YAAASSS! All the foods. Something I did not know is that you can bring a bottle of vino as they had. Mental note I’ll bring wine and a date next time.
Alright so after listening to them order, my food arrived. Ah, so much goodness. The soft spring rolls were ginormous, they were crispy and delicious, the peanut sauce was good and was my fave of the two sauces.
Next I tried the drunken noodles and I ordered those to be cooked to the “HOT” level and y’all know your girl loves some spice and I was disappointed with the level of spice, next time I would order “Thai Hot”. The flavor was great and the spice level wasn’t anything I couldn’t fix with some chili oil. The noodles themselves were so yummy and the beef was delish. Loved it.
I had asked the waitress to choose my curry dish because I couldn’t decide so when my food arrived I was eager to find out what I’d be eating. I had the red curry with chicken and it was delightful. It’s a huge bowl that’s packed with flavor and so much chicken, they don’t skimp on the meat y’all.
I do want to come back because the table to my right ordered a coconut drink and the mango rice with their main meal because as much as the waitress reiterated it was sweet and a dessert item they insisted it be brought out with their main dishes, the gentleman said it was that good he couldn’t wait 🤷🏻♀️
Also, they are all super sweet, service was great and welcoming! The atmosphere was warm and I liked that I was sitting in a grocery store. It was different and fun!
Thank you Mr. W, you passed the test ✨💖✨ you know your food stuffs, that means we can go on date number two. 😂
xxxx~your champ
Ordered the beef Pad See Ew. It was amazing and smokey! However, please be warned of the spice level. DO NOT get level 5 like me haha (unless you can handle it). I called them, and they were extremely friendly. They cooked a replacement dish for me with level 2 spice instead. The green curry is also delightful with chicken and shrimp. Also got the mango sticky rice, it was the perfect toasted sesame and coconut dessert with mango slices!
Quick service. Excellent dishes
Feb '25 Update: I've been trying to eat less meat, and my new favorite dish is Asia Market Thai Lao's Panang curry with tofu and extra veggies. It's actually the only all tofu dish I like but it's a start!
My favorite Thai restaurant in town and I'm so happy to live very close by. Writing this while eating to-go Panang Curry Chicken with brown rice. On the menu it comes with bamboo and Thai eggplant, but I'm not a fan of either so I get it with mixed vegetables instead. At first I was shy and apologized about changing the 'recipe' so much, but they were like 'no big deal!' It is SO dang good! The Thai omelette is also a fave. Really, everything I've tried has been great. And the prices are more than fair for the flavor and quality of the food!
We dine in on occasion, and the service is very friendly and crazy quick. I forget the young man's name who has waited on us the most, but he's really sweet, and his mom is one of the amazing cooks - he's very proud of her. She makes the Thai sausage in-house, and it's brilliant!
Fair warning: Mild is still pretty spicy, medium is pretty hot, and it only gets hotter from there, so start with mild and work your way up.
I love that there's a small grocery inside so I can pick up a few things while I'm waiting for my food like coconut milk, curry paste, Thai chilis, and jasmine green tea.
We've eaten here at least 2x a month since moving to the area last August and I'm just so glad they're open and cooking delicious food!
Spot is fire! For real! Love the curry here and definitely try the boat noodles. I come here quite often and quick spot for a good meal. They have a small grocery section and a table up front with a few baked goodies to go.
Amazing food my god… Pineapple apple rice & fish is amazing.. Coffee also, if you’re a coffee lover.
Perfect for dates
Encuentras todo lo que buscas y más. Esta enorme
Get the chicken pad Thai!! Delicious 10/10
Amazing! If you like Thai food, you'll be glad you found this place!
Great food and service
The girl that works in store too my food away and cleared it before asking whether I was done and charged me 27 dollars for food I did not completely eat. Very bad communication.
Excellent food and service. Will definitely be back.
Great place to meet a friend for lunch, the green curry is pretty good as well as the chicken Larb.
Great Thai groceries: you can get kaffir like leaves (and tree on special order) as well as all the special Thai cooking utensils like steamer basket and curry paste mortar/pestle.
Great thai lao food. Good for lunch and takeout or an early dinner..
I love Mom and Pop hole in the wall places like this. Very authentic flavors, says my Thai wife. They don't dumb it down for American s. I had Pad Ke Mao (drunken noodles) just as good as in Bangkok. My wife had Pad Kra Pow. If you don't leave this place with a runny nose, then you've missed the experience
What happened? These guys used to be amazing. Our go to in Houston. Something has changed…. The Penang wasn’t spicy as requested and meat was super chewy. The Somtum was watery, too sweet and very mild. Portions noticeably smaller.
The food speaks for itself! The heat levels are true!
Wow wow wow…. AMAZING Thai food!!!! I got the Red Curry and it was so delicious and my wife got the pineapple fried rice which was also bomb. This place is so authentic and yummy. 10/10 would recommend.
The BEST Thai food in Houston. This is literally like eating in Thailand!!!!
Sausage good. The rest was meh.
Asia Market Thai Lao Food is a true hidden gem in Houston, offering a fantastic fusion of Thai and Lao cuisine along with a mini-market experience. As a family-owned business, the warm and welcoming atmosphere created by the sweet lady owner, her son, and her daughter makes every visit feel special. It’s rare to find a place that serves both Thai and Lao dishes so authentically, and they source their ingredients straight from their own market, allowing you to recreate the flavors at home.
I have to rave about the pork spare ribs—I’m not usually a fan of pork ribs because they tend to be dry, but here, they are juicy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Their menu is extensive, featuring classic dishes like khao soi, boat noodles, som tum, and their unique take on khao nam tod. Every dish I’ve tried has been nothing short of amazing, and with so many options, I feel like I’m eating at a new restaurant every time I visit.
For those who love variety, you won’t be disappointed. The fried Angel wings are a must-try, and you can have them plain or tossed in garlic, Thai sukiyaki, or devil (spicy) sauce. The ground meat salad laab has the perfect citrusy tang, and the sai ua (fermented sausage) pairs beautifully with sticky rice. Don’t miss the tiger cry tender ribeye or the savory crab fried rice, which I love to brighten with a squeeze of lime.
What’s even better is how accommodating they are for various dietary needs. Almost all of their entrees can be customized with your choice of protein—whether you prefer pork, chicken, beef, veggies, or tofu. They offer excellent options for vegetarians and vegans as well. The BYOB policy is a nice touch, especially with their convenient location in the Heights area near bars.
The food here is addicting, especially if you love spicy dishes, and it’s no surprise they were recognized for “bringing the heat” by the Houston Chronicle. The service is impressively fast—sometimes quicker than fast food—and the prices, even after a recent increase, remain affordable, especially given the generous portion sizes.
To top it all off, you must try their mango sticky rice for dessert. The creamy coconut milk and perfectly sweet mango make it the ideal ending to a flavorful meal. Oh, don’t forget to try their freshly homemade brewed Thai tea, which is made with actual Thai leaves rather than powder. With plenty of parking and a mini-market to shop for groceries after dining, Asia Market Thai Lao Food is an experience not to be missed. If you’re in the Houston Heights area—or even if you have to drive across town—it’s absolutely worth the trip! Btw, the restaurant closes dine-in 30 min prior to closing time just a fyi.
Just gonna say I normally finish all of my food. Its not nasty just but doesn't taste that good. I stopped eating after a few bites. I guess houston don't really have good thai places if this restaurant is rated 4.5 and up.
Love Thai Lao and have been many many times. Recently noticed the pretty dramatic price raise. Some dishes like pad khee mao were raised ~30%. Still excellent food but I will probably mix in other Houston Asian restaurants more frequently as it’s no longer as affordable as it once was.
My dish was the fermented sausage and my coworker had the larb which is stir fry ground pork and papaya salad.
Great flavor, sausage could use some more fermenting but I prefer mine to be more sour. Also cooked longer making it charred as it has more flavor.
Not a fan of the papaya salad. It had too much of a crabby flavor to me.
Overall will probably try other items if I’m ever there again.
Good tasting food. Reasonable prices.
Thoroughly pleased. My new go to Thai
A happy repeat custom 👍
The cashier no smile at all, look like angry. Very dissapointed
One-stop place for food and groceries. The food was decent overall. Among the dishes we tried, I would recommend the Asia Sampler. However, the Tom Yum soup lacked the depth of flavor and the kick of Thai spice that I was hoping for. Just as good as I remember. Hole in the wall stylings- you can see them cooking, casual (borderline “is this a business”, lol) service. Wish it was easier to get to. Recommend trying Tiger Cry if you like hole-in-the-wall Mexican steak dishes. Curries, soups, salads- all are good.
Delicious home cooking
Very friendly and good variety of Thai staples. I went for the grocery, but they serve food there as well.
I like this place and would recommend it.
Great rice portion, even greater curry portion, the spice is real (next time I'm getting mild and I like a kick, haha), rather full cup of thai tea (even when you ask for no ice), and the sai oua was well liked, but the portion was a bit small. Servers were pleasant.
i don’t usually leave reviews or comments, but as a regular customer, I feel compelled to address the “fake” negative accusation. I can guarantee that the staff here are always friendly, the food quality is consistently excellent, and the prices are unbeatable.
Sure, there are times when the service might be slower due to how busy it gets, but that’s completely normal. Never once have I experienced rudeness from the staff. In fact, I witnessed an incident where some customers were being rude and disruptive to a female staff member. They were yelling for attention, interrupting while she was helping others, complaining about seating, and even walking around grabbing things. Which I saw the snacks were opened and they left without paying.
I’m writing this to show my support and appreciation for all the hardworking staff. Thank you for your excellent service, and I will always remain a loyal customer.
I have been there yesterday for lunch and we are so excited because we are from thai and we wanted to eat thai food The taste of the food is ordinary. Is Okey But the service of the staff is very bad. It's like they are afraid that we don't have money to pay and look down on customers. Even though we came to buy and choose products, we didn't buy all the products we chose because i think this is a service mind is important if you need the customer come back again We just ate rice and left. It was a very bad experience to eat here. I don't recommend it.
4.7/5 extremely good and authentic Thai food ( well most of the dishes and the ingredients that are put into the dishes). I had the green curry with brown rice and the pad kra pao (chicken) for $25. I was extremely impressed by the quality of the curry and the pad kra pao. The best pad kra pao I've had from the Thai restaurants I've been to across the States. The meat quality was good, but again, the dishes tasted amazing and authentic, if I can say that. Highly recommend!
Great service and good. Had the fried tofu appetizer, pineapple fried rice, stir fried glass noodles and sticky mango rice. Everything was delicious. Food came out fast and piping hot, new to go to!
It’s 2:15 pm Sunday and they’re closed….Have some respect ✊ for the Customers and update your working schedule ….I drove out of my way 20 minutes to come here same as those people backing up ….if you close to have a break at least write a sign saying that.
**************************Update*************
I just found out today was 1st day they’ve the electricity ⚡️ back ( day 7 of the hurricane) 🌀 and they lost most of the inventory ( frozen products)
Surprisingly good food!! Hiddle gem! If you like spicy, they can make it spicy per your level.
Amazing. So delicious & flavorful with incredible price. Ordered delivery from
Uber and will be making this my regular spot now
Pretty good food... Good prices... One of the best restaurants to see waiters on their phones
Many great dishes. My favorite dish is pickle fish.
Cool super casual vibe.
Great service
Byob ok
Wonderful food
If you need Vegan just ask wait staff
Everything was great!
Super cozy, lovely people, and the food was great. Plus it doubles as a market for anyone who wants to take home more than just leftovers

The food is mediocre. Major corner cutting, skimping on Ingredients. They don't put all the ingredients detailed in the description on the menu . If you have never eaten good Thai food then this should be ok for you. The mango sticky rice and pad Thai were bordering on inedible . All we could taste was chilli and I can write a book on how they messed up on the rice .
The food here is always well prepared, hot, and delicious. The staff are attentive and polite. We regularly have lunch and it's never a dissapointment.

This is best place to find Thai basil fresh
Food is fresh and delicious. A bit larger store would be useful. It's all about the food not ambiance.
분위기를 기대하면 여길 가지 말아야합니다. 맛있고 캐주얼하게 한끼 하기 좋아요
술은 안 파니까 들고 가야함
Amazingly good green curry. I usually go for Massaman glad I went out of the box this time. Pair it with the Drunken Noodles (KeeMao flat rice noodle w/basil) it's the perfect combination.
Authentic food
A big menu full of authentic Thai/Lao options. Very authentic!
Very very authentic food and always accurate w the order.
If we lived in Houston, we would be regulars here for sure.
#JoeFoodTour do not be surprised by the outside appearance. This food is authentic and super yummy. Also, they are true to their Thai spice so if you think you can handle heat, I’d recommend mild or because the spice level is incredible. #HowdyFromHouston #ThePropertyJoes #LivingLifeInHouston
Authentic Thai. Yellow curry with chicken, pineapple fried rice and morning glory! Delicious
Really good value, didn't love the pad thai though. Pad see ew is good. 5 spice is not that spicy.
AMAZING FOOD! i order often for my lunch break and service has always been fast, i have tried the steamed dumplings, egg rolls and broccoli with a side or veggies and pork!
Excellent food and super affordable
Delicious food and great price!! Especially if you like spicy! But you can make it as spicy or not, as you want🥰you should definitely try it out✌
Food is great. Servers are helpful and very attentive. Definitely a goto spot!
Mini store mini restaurant. Be patient with wait times because the food is delicious. Spice levels are very good. We always get a few groceries to cook some of the stuff at home but they always do it better. Definitely recommend for anyone nearby.
Great food. Great service. 10/10.
Ka ree puff - $7.5, 5/5, loved this appetizer, super flavorful filling and the outside was perfectly crispy and flaky
Chicken satay - $7.5, 1/5, not sure how it's supposed to taste like but it was dry and lacking flavor, I was drowning it in the peanut sauce (needed more sauce)
Parang curry with chicken - $12, 3/5, curry was good, not particularly special but felt like it needed more chicken
Pad Thai with beef - $11, 2/5, wish the noodles were bigger/wider, never had a pad Thai that tasted like this, it was ok. Beef didn't seem very high quality
Pad Khing with chicken - $11, -/5, we ordered this hot spice level and I personally couldn't handle it so I couldn't judge it fairly, my friends seemed to enjoy it.
Prices are good but food reflects the price. Service was great! Refilled our waters a lot. Pay at the front after you're done & they will split your bill however you like! Parking was easy on weekend at 6pm, not sure how it is at other times.
This is the restaurant we miss the most from our time living in Houston. We went to a show at White Oak and needed dinner and never looked back after we found this place. It is such a gem and we haven’t found better Thai food anywhere. Not LA, not NY, not Vegas. If you live in or are visiting Houston make sure to check this place out for great food and great service!
I’ve only ever had takeout from here. The food always travels very well and is absolutely delicious. The thing I appreciate the most is the consistency of flavor, it tastes the same every time.
They have a "volcanic" spice level for those who are not weak. Five stars.
yummy, fast, and cheap! 🇹🇭🍜
This is a hidden gem in the heights. Food is phenomenal. The service is always outstanding even when they are packed. There is a cute little market in the back of the restaurant and my favorite take away the cookie assortments. My personal favorite is the yellow chicken curry and my boyfriend’s is the chicken pad Thai. Big servings as well- I can never finish it all.
I know my Thai cuisine choice in Houston now. Very good panang curry, spring rolls, pad thai, and tom yum. My only critique is the bay leaves are sliced thinly, making them annoying to pick out of curry sauce.
Very friendly staff, clean bathrooms, fast/friendly service, and flavorful food.
Muy buena comida a muy buen precio
First time here and was not disappointed. Everything was fresh and delicious.
Had heard so much about this place until I showed up and slowly greeted by a morbidly obese employee who couldn't be bothered to even inquire about my order. I waited several minutes and thought to myself: "If the service is this bad, the food will probably be just as bad..." I promptly left and suggest you do the same thing....
Really delicious food!! The Pad kra pao chicken was delicious!
This is a hidden gem. Tried fired rice, red curry, tom yum soup, pad Thai noodles. All of those are great. Most reasonable priced Thai place in Houston.
Food was good. But service was bad
Pretty good flavors but I think the ninesThai in Sugarland is much better
The food is decent but the customer service is atrocious. The second time I dined here the server served the entire restaurant before even giving us silverware. (Even though we were there first) I literally had to follow her into her station just to get a fork. This experience made me no longer dine in and order online instead. I normally order their fish and it comes with a specific sauce (the fish is bland without it). The last two times i ordered they have not included my sauce. I was a sucker and paid extra the first time because i didn't feel like arguing but the second time I purchased over $90 worth of food online around 20mins before arriving at the location then waited an additional 30mins at the restaurant before even being greeted. I finally got my food and noticed they didn't include the sauce while in the car. I go back in and asked for it, just to wait another 10mins. I was then acknowledged by a rude cashier, he informed me that I have to carry 7 orders back into the restaurant to prove I didn't get the sauce. I personally won't be ordering here again and honestly I wouldn't recommend dining in to others especially if you have a darker skin complexion.
Best Thai food in town. Reminds us of our trip to Thailand and the street foods we ate! Such full flavor!
Delicious thai food!!!!!
Pretty decent decent hole in the wall place for Thai food. The lemongrass appetizer was not the best however. Penang, Pad Thai, fried rice was on point. and super tasty.. Will be back.
5/5 I truly love this restaurant and I’ve never been disappointed. All of their curries are amazing and I particularly like their yellow curry. What I love most are the spices and the assortments of chili and pepper condiments which is a thoughtful touch.
Food is always awesome .
There is some high quality and flavorful Thai/Lao food coming out of this small market. They have a huge menu to choose from and service with a a smile.
The jerky appetizer did remind me of the bar snack I always had in Thailand. The chicken and rice had a great flavor and absolutely reminded me of Gai Yang on the streets of Bangkok. The Pad Kra Pao fell short though as I feel like they forgot the basil (the star of the dish). Overall though o was not let down by anything. I would happily recommend this place if you are in the area!
Also if you cook Thai food, this is a great place to buy ingredients
Excellent food and service. Authentic taste!
Fantastic food! So tasty and the service was great. It’s BYO.
This place is amazing every single time we go, the service food and cleanliness is always spot on. Some of the best Thai food in Houston
Excellent food and service.
Great food and great spice levels! I love coming here and the food travels great for to go.
Gotta get the curry fried rice
This is authentic thai food with very reasonable price, definitely worth to try if you nearby. I loved the curry already before I eat it.
I saw some reviews complain about the server wasn't pay much attention on customers' need and give 1 star, well I don't really care if server came to say hello every 10 minutes, but food has to be good!
Very international (Asian) market with a sit down area. Not much for atmosphere but looks like a lovely Asian international market.
Good food, fast service within a casual grocery / food court environment
Great value
Lots of parking
Some of the best Thai food I have ever had
Delicious food 🥘 and great service. We found this hidden gem 💎 while looking for Thai food nearby. Coworkers and I love it! My go to is the PAD SEE Ew beef 🥩 🤤 medium spice
Came here to buy fish sauce and while perusing the isles, I was being followed by an asian man who worked there. I felt very uncomfortable and felt pressured to leave. Who would want to steal 2 dollar fish sauce? ... I won't be coming here again.
Awesome customer service and awesome food
Disappointed with the food taste and portions. The Pad Thai was just OK, a bit on the wet side. The Fish Curry was very weak in taste and have very small fish balls; very runny in texture. The Morning Glory had decent taste but the portions are very small (half the Pad Thai). Ordered a chicken dish that was basically Hainan Chicken style, surprising to us; but the chicken was super tough and lack good flavor. Chicken sate was fine, need more marinading and robust peanut sauce (too runny). The tofu with peanut sauce was nothing special, just simply fried with the same inferior peanut sauce. Thai tea was mediocre, tasted diluted. Overall, quite mediocre relative other Thai restaurant in the Houston area. Total bill was over $70 for 3 of us, which feels a bit high.
Best Thai place kn Houston
My favorite Thai in Houston/Sugar Land/Katy/Richmond area. It's the best food, great service. You don't need to keep looking. Just drive there from wherever you are if you want Thai.
The BEST thai food in houston hands down! Knocking off a star because they can be inconsistent with the spice level, but you can always add more spice! Hands down, reccomend the pad se ew and the pad thai!
Food is excellent. Service is alittle slow but they don't rush you.
I am a big lover of Asian food.. my favorite place 🤩
Goodstuff
This Thai Lao food is on point! I loved my dish: eggplant and tofu with basil and peppers. The “hot” spice level is perfect for someone like me who loves strong heat packed with.
Excellent service, also: lovely staff who go out of their way to be kind.
It’s BYO, and you can also pop over to Cantina Barba after for a margarita!
The best hidden gem for Thai food in town. Be careful though, the Thai hot is actually very spicy. They also have a decent selection of groceries like chili oil, and curry paste that is hard to find in regular grocery stores.
One if the few great Thai Restaurant in Houston. Nothing on the menu is a bad choice. I can eat here daily.
Awesome
My go to place for delicious and authentic Thai.
Great customer service and love the food. Having spent time in Thailand multiple times, one of the closest spots to Thailand.
The food was phenomenal and came incredibly quick. With such great portions and flavors for low prices, this place can't be beat. Not to mention you can pick up any essentials from the grocery section!
Delicious food and very fast! Another bonus is they had sarachi sauce at their little market inside the restaurant! Haven’t been able to find it at any of the grocery stores!
Great authentic Thai food that feels like
Old school Asian Immigrants comfort food.
