Creative Thai Fast Food Restaurant
Wonderful food and service from Jesus! We went and ordered Drunken Noodles with shrimp and chicken for main entree and Thai wings for appetizers and Thai donuts and sticky rice for dessert. All items were fresh and delicious. The shrimp were big and flavorful and juicy. Great spot we will be back!
Thai Tail is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Thai flavors, whether dining in or taking out. They deliver their delicious food in convenient to-go boxes, but don't hesitate to ask for plates if you prefer a dine-in experience.
From the moment we stepped in, the lively atmosphere and friendly staff set the tone for a memorable meal. We started with crispy fries, perfect for sharing, followed by a tantalizing array of entrees. The Drunken Noodles were bursting with savory spice and perfectly cooked noodles, while the Pad Thai offered a delightful balance of sweet and sour notes. The Basil Rice, fragrant and flavorful, was a standout dish.
Combined with the excellent service and energetic ambiance of Montrose, Thai Tail delivers a truly satisfying fast culinary adventure. Don't miss out!
The food here is amazing. Only had the Siricha wings so far but I'm back for the second time because they were so good. Crispy, a little heat, fresh garlic, cilantro, and a dash of sweet.
The staff is always welcoming and goes above and beyond. My last visit I waited in the car until the food was ready and the staff member on duty walked my bagged food out to me.
This place has not disappointed. Has a cool funky trendy theme. This would make a great lunch date with a partner or friends.
I forgot, they have alcohol too!
I was doubtful, but this place honestly slaps. The food is super tasty and fresh and prices are great. I got the Panang Chicken Club. The bread was surprisingly very soft and flavorful. Chicken was very tender and the sauce was on-point for the Thai twist.
The menu has a lot of variety: Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Drunken Noodles, burgers, wraps, and sandwiches. I like that they have vegetarian/pescatarian/vegan options as well.
*Edit* I went back to try the Drunken Noodles—SO yummy! Spice level 2 was just right. The veggies were perfectly crunchy and the herbs were fresh and bright.
*2nd Edit* I also tried the Pad-Thai takeout with shrimp. This was truly delicious. The tomato-forward base with the egg is so tasty! With peanuts and lime (and a little fresh sage from home), it was perfect!
My husband, mother-in-law and I came in Sunday shortly after 11am. The place is clean and bright, with ample seating and parking. The requested recommendations were very helpful (from Jesus) and the food was delicious! I really liked that you have the ability to make your food as spicy as you like with provided chili oil and crushed pepper 🌶️ 😋
I had a craving for sticky rice with mango and Thai Tail delivered on freshness and authenticity. The large chunks of mango were ripe sweet and juicy and the rice was a perfect ball of sticky goodness. The side of coconut cream elevated my taste buds with a burst of rich, creaminess. The dessert was a total delight: a 5/5
The food here is so yummy and the service is great! Honestly I wish more people knew about this spot!
Food was great! We had the we tried the laab chicken sandwich, basil beef burger, Thai basil chicken and rice, and the mango sticky rice! All were delish. Tony was our host and his recommendations on what to try were spot on. 10/10 definitely recommend and they’re open lat til 2am Friday Saturday!
A wonderful first time at thia tail ! Or helper was named Tony and was a great host and will definitely come again for the food that was amazing and the service was wonderful

Best Thai food! so quick and flavorful! Tony is so amazing! Service and Atmosphere is great!
Good food and Tony took care of me real good 👍
The food was great and Tony’s customer service was impeccable. Try the drunken noodles

Great Thai spot with delicious food at a great price—definitely worth a visit!
Drunken noodles are really good! Beware that if you order hot you're actually getting some pretty spicy food 😏. Try mild if you don't want it too spicy. Tony was awesome, definitely returning!
Husband and I had pad see ew with chicken and it was absolutely delish! I was super surprised by the quality and taste. Very flavorful with great portions, and service! $20 for date night dinner is a win!
Go see Tony, he’s the best in Montrose!!!
Love their drunken noodles!

This has to be one of the best thai food i have tasted in the US so far. I was expecting a meal which would just be enough to suffice me for dinner but the meal exceeded all my expectations.
-The portions were more than enough.
- The packaging was really neat.
- The taste was excellent.
- The meal had flavours and spice percectly balanced out.
The cashew chicken was fine but the pad see ew was the worst i have ever had in my life. The chicken quality is obnoxiously bad

I was excited to try this place because I love its sister restaurants! I get that it's an affordable fast casual restaurant, but the quality just wasn’t there. The flavors didn't hit the mark, the noodles in Pad Thai and Pad See Ew clumped together. I did like the shrimp nuggets. Sadly, I probably wouldn’t come back.
food is great. it totally hit the spot this place has the best team. thai tail has the best thai food in houston
I’ve had the pleasure of dining at many Thai restaurants across Montrose, River Oaks, and The Heights, and Thai Tail stands out as the best by far. While other spots have their merits, the flavors at Thai Tail are simply unmatched. The chefs truly understand how to elevate each dish with seasonings that blast your tastebuds. Even their creative takes on burgers and sandwiches are inventive and delicious. The people are great the service is excellent. Thai Tail has quickly become my new go-to spot.
Great food, awesome environment & Tony at the front had excellent service.
Love this place! The staff are very friendly and attentive. Also, the Pad Thai and the Thai donuts are delicious! Check it out, it's a hidden gem. 🤤
This place's food twists on thai food actually all hit. It's so good.
Great food, flavors are great and staff is polite

Tony was amazing… he was very friendly and knowledgeable I recommend others to come here… my favorite new place. That gave amazing margaritas
When I crave food late at night, I will think this place. I will crave this place again lol
The chicken is unseasoned but the sauce is good. It was alright. I expected more….
New place we've been to 3 times in 4 weeks. Great food, fun and friendly counter help. Very casual, but very delicious!
I recommend the Thai chicken basil rice, thai donuts, and the thai tea. There are tofu options and you can choose your spice level. The hot is super spicy!
Tony was the best server! He should get a raise, very caring and attentive young man
Walked and and tony was there to help me with my order. Was very pleasant and nice. Great customer service here
Solid Thai food place. They have really cool packaging for their food- come to find out!
Food is outstanding ! I thought I was in Pattaya or Bangkok . Place looks like it’s closed ( note to owner , cut on the lights !)
Takeout pad Thai is incredible - no meat extra veggies <3
Super delicious food
1st Time Here. I Love Everything. 💯
Excellent spot don't sleep on this one.
I have had the pad Thai here before and it was amazing. This is the second visit I’ve had - and it was terrible … straight tamarind flavor. No peanuts. No other toppings.
When I told the staff, they pushed back and said no peanuts go into pad Thai… then asked if I wanted it remade… I agreed to them remaking it and it tasted the same…
We wanted to try Thai fast food because the food on their website looks appetizing. The packaging was cute and unique , but we we were vey disappointed by the taste and felt deceived by the pictures on their website. For the amount we spent we will stick to our spot , Nidda Thai Cuisine that is a block away .
Absolutely love this place and the service is impeccable. Tony gave us above and beyond customer service and we loved the ambiance of the soul music and the colors. Very spicy Thai food juat like we love it and the Sriqcha wings are impeccable can’t wait to come back to this 10 out of 10 experience!
Portion sizes are small and their quality doesn't justify the price. The container that the food comes in, even if you dine in, was quite awkward to eat out of. Half of the tables inside have several metal bars underneath them that i kept bumping my knees into. They were very uncomfortable to sit at. Overall I can't really recommend at the time being.
Great food and fast service...
Fantastic food and service. The dishes were freshly made and the spice profile was perfect.
This is a great neighborhood eatery that you don’t want to miss!

good Thai tea! this place used to be la Fendi (Mediterranean food), but is now a lil Thai spot. check it out, they're new to the neighborhood.
They were great!
We were a very large group
They treated us very kindly and served us very fast!
Hiiiiigly recommend it!!
Great experience! 10/10 service. London brought us our food he was so sweet and had a great attitude. We went right before close but even then they were super kind and efficient. Would definitely recommend the drunken noodles!
Been here 3 times since we have came back from our road trip and we have only been back about a week. The mango sticky rice is my favorite 😍 😋
Came back within the week. The Thai sticky rice and the Thai basil rice is fire. Evelyn was awesome and remembered us and our order!
Really good food. Pad See Ew and sticky rice with mango, great combination. Pad See Ew could have used a little more of the broccoli, been a little less "wet". Taste was great. Good service. Nice vibe.
Food was OK but way too many eggshells in the food. It was just disgusting. I’m confused because my dish didn’t even even have eggs in it.
Ok so the location might not be the best spot. But the food was delicious, honestly. Don’t be swayed that the establishment can be empty , they make fresh delicious thai food. I was impressed, it was not greasy, very flavorful. I highly recommend… I’ve already came here twice in one week lol.
Pad Thai was great!! Will go back and try more dishes.
Great spot for quick casual and tasty Thai noodles, with excellent service!
Okay! So I will do my best to give a more detailed review, but I am typing on my phone so you will get a bit. This place deserves to stay open, in a city where there are many different options, this place has a unique take that no other Thai restaurant in Houston probably does. The fact that it open late means that it will draw a good crowd and the prices are more than reasonable, they should probably make the trek to open until 3 AM to get the club goers. The basil chicken was yummy and the Sriracha wings were pretty good, I didn’t really like the Thai tea. I am a tea snob so no one is surprised.
The place was super cute, fast service and the sweet girl at the front checked on us and made sure our experience was great! We got the wings, drunken noodles and the panang chicken club and we really enjoyed all of it. Will be back!
Really great wraps
This is such a great casual drop in spot. I’ve been here twice now and have been helped by the same employee. She is so gracious to welcome us in and is always excited to tell us about the menu items. The menu has a lot of options without being overwhelming. Theres definitely something for everyone. The food is delicious and very affordable. It’s a must try if you’re in the Montrose area!
So the hubby and I had really high hopes for this place, but we’ve been pretty disappointed in both the food and the service. We live around the corner and the restaurant that was there before was just ok and the Thai place down the street is not good at all. We also LOVE Kin Dee and go regularly, Thai Tale’s sister restaurant, so ya, we were very excited when our Kin Dee waiter told us this spot was opening around the corner from us. We first ordered the chicken satay wrap and the fried rice with shrimp. The wrap was fairly tasteless, which will be a reoccurring theme in my review. The spinach wrap tasted like it was bought from the grocery store, I mostly tasted lettuce and unseasoned chicken, and what little flavors there are don’t feel like they go together. The shrimp fried rice was actually really good. It was fresh and flavorful. Vegans beware though! It’s marked as vegan (without added protein), but it definitely contains egg. Next we tried the crispy wonton pad thai and the shrimp sandwich. Both were not good. The crispy wonton pad thai had this super thick, overly sugary sweet-and-sour sauce like the massed produced kind you’d get at a cheap Asian mall food court spot. The sauce was so heavy and and so sweet, and the crispy part was so gritty and gross we couldn’t eat them and had to remove the filling instead. The filling had absolutely no seasoning or flavor outside of the general flavors of shrimp and pork (btws, to my Jewish, Muslim, and pescatarian friends - they have pork in them and that’s also not noted). The shrimp sandwich also came on what tasted like a day-old Kroger brand hamburger bun. We removed it and put it on a brioche bun which was significantly better. Again, the actual inside of the shrimp patty had no seasoning, so as your biting down there’s no layer of flavors, which you don’t even think about the importance of until it’s absent and you’re palate is confused and disappointed. I’d recommend ordering it with extra pickles for some flavor. Next I took a stab at the drunken noodles with added chicken, as it was listed as a fan favorite. I asked the guy if it was spicy and he said “Ya, it has a lot of spices” to which I asked for clarification, “Spices or spicy?”. He smirked as if I was the dumb one and said “It has a lot of spices like garlic and onion and basil and salt and pepper. You know, spices”. I replied, “Great, so it’s not spicy? Because I can’t eat spicy food” (I have an actual medical condition and random things like spicy food can potentially trigger tachycardia). He assured me it wasn’t at all spicy. I get my food home, open it up and it’s just red chili flakes and seeds staring me in the face. My husband, who loves spicy food, went to town, but again the feed back wasn’t good. No flavor outside of the heat and he said it was indeed a good amount of spicy. So 5 dishes down and we can only recommend the fried rice.
They also don’t have many drink options. They only have basic sodas, which we don’t drink, thai tea, which I can’t drink due to the condensed milk, and coconut water, which neither of us find enjoyable to drink while eating food. Their water jug has been out both times we attempted to dine in and both times we asked for water and the guy just looked at us and said, “Ya, it’s out” and went back to folding to-go containers. Yep, sure is buddy! 🤦🏼♀️
If you have any restrictions at all, ask A MILLION AND ONE QUESTIONS because there is either no to limited information provided on the menu or incorrect information provided on the menu. Well, actually, if you have any restrictions I wouldn’t come here at all because even when asked repeatedly they still don’t provide correct information.
I’d give them only 1 star only for their only 1 good dish, but they get 1 star for their innovated to-go packaging and 1 star for their awesome protein addition prices. It’s very affordable to add a protein and that’s always appreciated, even when the food you’re paying for has no depth of flavor.
Food was tasty! We really enjoyed the wings.
Got pad thai takeout. Portion was sizeable but the noodles were very bland. Got beef and the beef didn’t taste great either. Tried this place out as they just opened but I will not be coming back.
I ordered from here to go for the first time. Order was one veggie pad Thai and one chicken drunken noodle. Although the packaging was beautiful that is all it was. The food did not taste fresh, veggies were old (cabbage had dark spots and the broccoli roots were tough), and there was an interesting smell. I am quite familiar with Thai food and know a good dish when I try one. Very disappointed with my order. Would have expected this place to be of the same or similar caliber as Kin DEE (same owner) but unfortunately it fell through. I have emailed the business about this order but never got a response.
Would not recommend Thai food from here as it is not authentic, not fresh, and overall does not taste good.
Mediocre fast casual Thai food. They are open late (2am) and may be a good late-night option. Food is served in a takeout container even when you dine in, so not a fancy date night spot. I really enjoyed the frozen coconut cocktail but the rest of the food (pad see ew, burger, pad thai wontons) was just okay.
Pad Thai was okay, nothing special B. Hot dog was interesting B+. This place has a very limited menu and is a weird fusion - its strange to see hamburgers and hot dogs at a Thai place (seems like drunk food for when bars get out). Would much rather do Nidda Thai, literally one street down westheimer.
Outrageously good
First time trying this place. Seemed like a cool fast casual thai spot in montrose.
Looks like its owned by same group as Makin thai. The food was subpar and felt like we wasted 15/entree to not be satisfied. The portions are small and come in cardboard containers packed into a square so the liquids all go to the bottom. The pad thai tasted like tomato paste and peanut/ crunch flavor was lacking. Drunken noodles were mild with no spice and chicken was bland. Gladly we didnt try their higher end Makin restaurant or we'd be even more dissapointed.
Great food and service. Counter service Thai is something that has been missing in the neighborhood and so glad that this place is filling the need. Can’t wait to enjoy more drunken noodles after a few drinks at Catbirds!
Service was terrible. I had to wait 40 mins for an order of Pad Thai and Wonton Chips.
There was tons of orders just sitting on the counter and when I asked the cashier if one was mine he gave it to me. I asked why he didn't call it out when it was ready and he said "I'm not a server so...."
The food was good, but I don't think I'll be coming back. I simply don't have time. The "fast casual" label is a joke.
Nice fast casual Thai restaurant in the neighborhood! Came in on Friday night around 8pm. It wasn't too busy which made parking easy. Service was great and attentive. The food was delicious and definitely hit the spot. We ordered spinach tortilla chips, pad thai with tofu, fried rice with tofu, and two glasses of wine. The spinach tortilla chips were really good. The dip it comes with has meat in it so I swapped it out for the sriracha dip and lime & garlic dip...both were delicious. The pad thai and fried rice had plenty of tofu and was so flavorful. I personally think the pad thai and fried rice is a little overpriced for a walk up establishment.
Highly recommend the crispy wonton pad thai! It was a amazing!
The drunken noodles and Thai tea were so good! Definitely will be back to try more dishes. Love how vibrant the interior is.
It's very good! Great spot for lunch or after a night out. The food was really good and reasonably priced, especially for restaurants in the area. Plus the food tasted fresh, the ingredients are high quality. I'll definitely be back and I highly recommend it
Thai Tail offers a delightful dive into authentic Thai cuisine. Known for its vibrant flavors and fresh ingredients, this establishment has quickly become a favorite among locals and visitors alike. The restaurant provides a warm, welcoming atmosphere with a decor that blends modern touches with traditional Thai elements, creating a comfortable dining environment.
The menu at Thai Tail is extensive, featuring a variety of classic Thai dishes alongside some unique offerings. Here are some highlights:
**Tom Yum Soup:** This classic Thai soup is a must-try. It’s a perfect blend of spicy, sour, and savory flavors, featuring fresh shrimp, mushrooms, tomatoes, and fragrant herbs like lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves. The broth is rich and flavorful, making it a comforting start to any meal.
**Pad Thai:** A staple of Thai cuisine, the Pad Thai at Thai Tail does not disappoint. The stir-fried noodles are perfectly cooked, with a slightly chewy texture and a balance of sweet, salty, and tangy flavors. It’s topped with fresh bean sprouts, crushed peanuts, and a wedge of lime, adding a refreshing crunch and zest.
**Green Curry:** This dish is a standout, featuring tender pieces of chicken (or your choice of protein) simmered in a rich, creamy green curry sauce. The sauce is made from a blend of fresh green chilies, coconut milk, and aromatic herbs, resulting in a dish that’s both flavorful and satisfying. Served with jasmine rice, it’s a hearty and comforting option.
**Mango Sticky Rice:** For dessert, the mango sticky rice is a perfect end to the meal. The sweet, ripe mango paired with the slightly salty sticky rice, topped with a drizzle of coconut milk, creates a harmonious balance of flavors. It’s a simple yet delightful dessert that’s a favorite among diners.
The service at Thai Tail is consistently friendly and attentive. The staff is knowledgeable about the menu and always willing to make recommendations or accommodate special requests. They strive to ensure a pleasant dining experience for every customer.
Pricing at Thai Tail is reasonable, especially considering the quality and portion sizes. Most entrees range from $10 to $15, making it an affordable option for enjoying authentic Thai cuisine.
Highlights of Thai Tail include:
- **Authentic Flavors:** The dishes are prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients, resulting in vibrant and authentic Thai flavors.
- **Diverse Menu:** There’s something for everyone, from spicy curries to flavorful stir-fries and refreshing salads.
- **Friendly Service:** The staff is welcoming and attentive, enhancing the overall dining experience.
Room for improvement:
- **Seating:** During peak hours, the restaurant can get quite busy, and additional seating could enhance comfort.
- **Parking:** Depending on the time of day, parking might be a bit challenging. More convenient parking options would be beneficial.
Overall, Thai Tail delivers an exceptional dining experience with its authentic Thai dishes, friendly service, and inviting atmosphere. Whether you’re a fan of Thai cuisine or trying it for the first time, this restaurant is a great choice for a satisfying and flavorful meal.
I loved this place. The food is great and the staff was friendly.
Great place conveniently located in the heart of MONTROSE.. ❤️ Very competitive prices and best of all, the food is really good; RECOMMENDED ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Came here today for lunch. Fantastic little fast casual Thai food.
The hostess was incredibly welcoming, both bubbly and kind. She was able to introduce the concept, the relationship to the other restaurants and the menu with ease.
The food great and the price even better. We split the pad Thai wontons that were exquisite, fried but didn't feel greasy. My wife had the thai chicken satay wrap which was light and flavorful. I had the thai chicken basil rice which was delicious, a solid portion that was well seasoned without being overly spice (though for those wanting more spice, you can definitely kick it up a few notches if you like)
The restaurant definitely caters to the late night and take out crowd however we hope it will become a main stay on Westheimer!
Absolutely love this place!!
I had the mouth watering “Laab Chicken Sandwich”, and the sweet delightful “Thai Donuts”. This is a good location, the food is on point, and the atmosphere was excellent. I will definitely be back for more!
Thank you for the hospitality -L-
Stop by this new establishment on Westheimer. I came in hungry and left happily.
Orders:
Spinach Tortilla Chips & Drunken Chili Dip
Laab Seasoning Fries with a side of Lime and Garlic Dip
Crispy Wonton Pad Thai
Drunken Noodles with $1 Tofu.
Price is pretty reasonable for the area.
Try it yourself!
I recently visited Thai Tail and it was amazing! The food was delicious and full of authentic Thai flavors. Sandwiches and Chicken Wings were especially good. Service was quick and the staff were friendly. Highly recommend for a tasty and convenient meal!
Great new addition to Montrose. Casual restaurant for a good quick bite or catching up with a friend. Priced well too. Will be back to try more.
Very nice style restaurant with unique choice of Thai food. I ordered from both classic Thai food and beef basil sandwich . The chicken wings were awesome! The fries stayed crispy even when I brought the leftover home. This is my new favorite place. Love how they open late.
Ordered- rice & noodle dishes.
Positives: Super friendly staff. Nice, bright atmosphere. Food is freshly prepared.
Not positives: Food is a little bland. Cook time is slow for fast casual. Prices are slightly more than sit-down thai in neighborhood (so maybe this place is cheaper if you skip the tip on counter service?).
For flavor, we’ll probably go to Mint Thai (on westheimer). For price, we’ll probably stick to lunch special at Khun Ka (on montrose near dallas).
This option would be good enough if we’re on foot and at the bars or parks nearby.
