Spicy Sugar Thai Mid-City offers the most traditional and unique Thai flavors in town! Chef Katt brings all the amazing tastes and aromas from our Long Beach location to the heart of the city for your enjoyment! Fresh, locally sourced and rare imported ingredients combine together in an explosion of flavor and satisfaction! We look forward to seeing and feeding you!!
I went to this location cause I'd recently tried the long beach location and was craving their vegan pan fried green curry chow mein (medium spicy, soft tofu). Was so excited to have a closer location in mid city. Unfortunately, they do not seem to make it the same here. What I got tasted more like an alfredo sauce than green curry, and it wasn't the slightest bit spicy (there were also less veggies and tofu in it but I didn't mind since it meant more noodles). It was still tasty but definitely not the same dish I had in long beach and it didn't satisfy my craving. Also, it was really oily.
Would try again to see if it was a one-off mistake or if they actually have a completely different recipe and spicy meter from the long beach location.
Absolutely delicious. I kid you not, I’ve had Chao Krung, Farmhouse Thai, Spicy BBQ, and Good day Thai, and honestly this this truly hits the spot. As of writing this, the prices are amazing, the food was fresh and yummy, and very cute location (parking a little weird)
This was recommended to me by one of my best friends after I called her unsure what to eat, debating having Thai food. She, being an A1 homie, immediately recommends this place.
I got the:
Chef Katts Famous Penang curry
Mid city Pad Gai
Sugar Spicy Wings
The curry was creamy and super yummy!
Pas Gai first time getting, will not be the last!
I got this all for take out and for it to still be that good at home is so amazing!
Also, they (i think) make their own chili sauce, a green and red one, that was soooo good.
Anyways, if it’s not great, then blame the internet, if it’s yum, enjoy!
thanks again Nicole!
We found this nice restaurant through the Google Maps. The restaurant was small but clean and cozy. It had a small parking lot next to the restaurant. The staff was friendly. The food was delicious. The restaurant had a nice movie decor. I love their thai BBQ skewers with sauce. The restaurant was busy, so I recommended you to come early
Had the chicken khao soi and I must admit I am hooked! Their dishes are so good and flavorful. I can confidently say that it’s my new favorite Thai restaurant in LA! The staff is friendly and food comes out quick. 10/10
Just where you don't expect it, there's a great Thai place with a great atmosphere. It's family run and an offshoot of a long beach based main restaurant. It's really good and easy to miss because it's somehow part of the motel. But they took over the motel's sixties style coffee shape and offer tasty and super fresh Thai. I got my usual pad Kee mau and Thai sausage and I ate the latter so fast I nearly forgot to get a pic. To give you an idea of the attention to detail the cabbage in the latter dish was so fresh it was succulent.
Okay, I spotted this new Thai restaurant cruising La Brea near San Vicente. Looked interesting so I did some surfing on the chef/owner and I had the feeling it would be good but they surpassed my expectation on all counts. Beautiful plating, subtle notes (if you can say that about Thai flavors) explosive flavors that also show restraint from skilled hands. Word will soon spread and this little tucked away location will be a tough reservation.

Food here is incredible. Everything has so much flavor and you can tell that everyone working here works hard and cares about the food tasting fresh and delicious.

So Fire!!
The food is real thai food.
Delicious. I got the spicy chicken and basil. Will definitely be back
FINALLY! Don't need to trek to Thai Town for phenomenal Thai food. Took my old boss here, who was skeptical since he lived in Thailand. He was pleasantly surprised and even came back on his own!!!! They also have a lot of hardcore/exotic Thai dishes that I haven't seen anywhere else. Easy parking available here, so please come support this wonderful community establishment ☺️
Cute lil place with great food and price. Owners are super nice and sweet. Duck rolls are 🔥🔥🔥
This place is amazing, we came cause the good, and I can definitely say it deserves them. The food was extremely delicious and flavorful, and it came out quick, AND it was not very expensive, I was expecting to pay more for the quality. The server was SO nice and SO friendly and very helpful amazing. place is 10 out of 10 would recommend.
The cheese Pad thai and the crispa wings are excellent
Delicious authentic Thai food. Friendly service. We were visiting from out of town and this was an excellent find. Highly recommend.
Garbage service. Rude server who I'm certain is racist against Mexican and other Native peoples. Ruined the meal altogether.

This place is awesome; absolutely amazing and authentic Thai food. We had tom kha soup with soft tofu, cream cheese crab wontons, and the Mid-city (a lighter version of pad see ewe) and all were amazing. A note: they do take their spice level seriously so caution to the mildly brave!
We found this restaurant on Google map and it was delicious on the food. Everything was great until we paid. The server demanded my husband for tip which we already left tip for him. He wasn't happy with the tip we left him and stared to complain to us that we are insulting him by leaving very little tip. Then he started saying that he didn't charge us gratitude because he thought that we were going to tip him. I got angry at that moment of what he's saying because there is only 4 of us there and by California law restaurant can not charge gratitude unless there's 6 people or more. This is a really good restaurant but buckle yourself for big tip.
Excellent Thai food- Pad see ew, and Mongolian Beef. Host was very patient, kind, and attentive.
Tried SS in mid city LA...wow. great food y service. Spoke with the owner and she is a very nice lady. Ordered the pork skewers and house fried rice....we also ha an order of the ream filled wantons...and I had a Thai Iced Tea...fantastic indeed. Small place but worth the trip. Gove it a try. You'll be thrilled and pleased. Thanks.
This place serves INCREDIBLE, AUTHENTIC, DELICIOUS Thai food. I've dined in and taken out and it's consistent. The service is also 100%. Highly recommend!
Our new favorite neighborhood Thai restaurant. This is our 4th time doing take out (we've dined in once). The team there is so nice and welcoming. Food is fantastic. Try the dumplings in green curry for something special. Our mainstay order includes papaya salad, skewers, pad kee mao, at least one curry (green, panang, etc.), cashew chicken, and a soup. Medium heat has kick but doesn't kill you. Have been recommending to all our friends, and now to you.
Cute family owned amazing authentic flavorful and delicious thai food spot. They have dishes represented from northern and southern thai food, street food and even a couple Laotian dishes. They have a separate Veg/Vegan menu. I had the Vegetarian Khao Soi and it was the best curry i’ve ever had.
Quick service. All very good
Go. Just go. I’ve gone twice with my husband and we’ve ordered multiple, different dishes each time, and nothing disappoints. This unassuming spot isn’t your regular Thai. No need to go all the way to Thai Town, Mid City folks!! Try a dish you’ve never heard of. It won’t disappoint!
I’ll add photos later but for now just know that you have to go.
This place is so good! Great atmosphere and excellent food. Highly recommend the chicken Khao Soi. Unbelievably flavorful and great texture. Will be a regular for sure.
This place was so wonderful! All of the dishes we order were so flavor and we were able to adjust the spice levels. It’s also very vegan friendly.
Definitely recommend the green curry dumplings! Those were amazing. We also go the papaya salad, larb, khao soi, pad see ew. rotis, and mango sticky rice.
There was only one waiter at the time, but she was attentive as possible given the amount of people in the restaurant and so sweet.
Hate to let people find out about this best kept secret but it's so good that they deserve the business.
Nothing better.
Best thai I've tried in a long time. My only complaint is there soup. There Tom Kha has too much coconut, not enough broth. Bought it twice to see if it was just a glitch in the matrix the first time, but it wasn't...
Fantastic food and service. I got the kao soy, and it was fantastic. The chicken, vegetables, curry and noodles were proportioned perfectly. Each dish was what it should be.
We tried the crispy chicken with panang curry and the chicken kao soy. Both were incredible. The panang curry was rich in flavor and had squash in it. The kao soy was the best we've had. The contrast of the noodles, crispy noodles, onion, and cabbage made each bite enjoyable. Great service and fast preparation.
The food was absolutely delicious!!! Truly the best Thai food that I've had in LA, hands down! I've always seen this place driving by and decided to try it out on a day we were craving Thai food. I can't believe it has taken me this long to check them out. I highly recommend Spicy Sugar Thai...you won't regret it!
Such an incredibly delicious and vibe-y spot. The food was incredible and so authentic. The Khao Soi noodles were amazing and this was the best Mango Sticky Rice I have ever had! Will be coming back for sure
It was the best lunch … when I say everything I ordered was 10 hand down they know what they are doing and every sauce was also soo good
Delicious food and inviting service. Nice to have a new Thai restaurant in the neighborhood. Definitely my new go to spot when I'm craving Pad See Ew.
So glad we took a chance on our google search today! It was such a cute little place, very inviting and the staff is warm and hospitable. They clearly care about their craft and customers. The food was fantastic! One of the best Thai spots we have tried in LA. We will be back 🥳
Best Thai in all of mid city
Fried rice was 10/10
Wow. What a surprise. Walking up to a motel Thai restaurant . But The yellow curry was outstanding. The crispy duck spring roll and the pad Thai . So good. Medium spice tickled the tongue didn't make you sweat . Definitely coming back .
the tom yum was delicious. really good food.
Third time in tonight and just as good as the last two. Amazing authentic Thai street food. Incredible flavors, good atmosphere, great service. They took their time to answer all my questions and guide me to something I’ve never tried before. I think this place is about to blow up!
Finally, a Thai spot in Mid City! It may look like a little hole in the wall, but don’t pass it by, the dishes here are something special. Not just your average pad see ews, they’ve got some unique delicacies on the menu!
Stopped in with my wife for a quick sit down meal. Our noodles and fried rice were delicious and the service was great. Overall, a very nice experience.
Fantastic. The ingredients are top notch and methods are amazing. Really charming interior and great service. Also a really great menu: well done classics, less well known dishes, and inventions too. Can’t wait to come back and try everything.
Food here is Thai authentic taste. But quit pricey for the small portions. My friend and I went there can we ended up paying 81$ EACH the total was $160+ I was chocked but oh well. Anyway the service was excellent!
My food was quite good, but others in our party did not like their food. More importantly, the service was very bad.
This is my new favorite spot to eat! The food was delicious and the service was amazing!
I highly highly highly recommend stopping here for some delicious Thai food. Can’t wait to go back, maybe tomorrow!
Incredible food and great service, lovely atmosphere at this family-owned establishment.
The vegan options are amazing!

The best Thai food in mid city
Great local spot! Everything we ordered was on point - really flavorful, authentic and at a very reasonable price. I hope they sell their spicy green sauce in bottles some day - a little sweet, and then the heat slowly comes creeping in. Came for the first time and can’t wait to come back soon to try more dishes (probably next week, it was that good)
Lovely food and even lovelier people! New favorite Thai spot 🔥❤️
Delicious!
Support family owned. Parking is easy, too. Food tastes as good as any real Thai place. Definitely worth checking out if you live nearby.
Nice Thai food joint. The food was quite tasty😋

Been passing by this spot for a while now. The exterior is super fun and eye-catching so we decided to dropped by for some late night bites. We didn't really know what kind of restaurant it was, but we're very pleasantly surprised that it's, in fact, a super authentic Thai restaurant <3
The Khoa Soi was incredible (in fact all of our dishes were!). From the Bangkok street skewers to the Mongolian beef. Flavorful, generous portions, and an absolutely lovely & cozy atmosphere. The Thai movie posters and the humor in the menus are such a nice touch. Shoutout to Sophia, she was amazing and took incredible care of us!
Sad to find this neighborhood gem as we're moving away but it will be absolutely worth the drive. Would give 6 stars if I could.
Authentic Thai food taste.
One of the best and most flavorful curries I've ever had - would highly recommend! The staff are very kind.
Authentic Thai Town flavors in mid city! Menu is expansive and staff is great at helping you find new flavors to try. Will be returning to try some of the off-menu.
FYI the spiciness is graded on a Thai scale
Authentic Thai food. If you are into amazing flavors, don't miss this spot. Pork dishes are fantastic. Calamari was off the charts. And the Khoa Soi is not to be missed!!
Great spot. Ask for the secret menu if you like a more traditional Thai food experience.
Amazing Food! The best Paid Thai! Owner is friendly. A must in Mid-City. Free Parking.
Good and service was amazing!
I've been to their Long beach location and loved it, but somehow, Mid City is even better!
Let's start with the food: The Bangkok Nachos are almost like a deconstructed crab and cream cheese wonton situation...so original and so delicious! I'm not a hot dog kind of gal, not even at Dodger Stadium, but the Curry Dog was a revelation! Both the Pad Thai and the Pad See Ew were spectacular, and the Mango Sticky Rice was the perfect finish to the perfect meal!
The service was top notch. Our server, Eden, was extremely kind and knowledgable, and made sure that we were well taken care of. The owner and chef, Katt, was like a little ray of sunshine, bouncing around the front of house, introducing herself to customers, with an infectious smile and uplifting energy.
This place has such a great vibe! I love supporting small, family owned businesses, and this one is top notch! Look no further, this really is your new neighborhood Thai joint!
Got the orange chicken medium spice. Food and service exemplary! Try the Thai tea , goes right with the spice. I’d give em 6 stars if I could !!
Fantastic!!!
Now we are so much closer to Spicy Sugar Thai in Mid City!!! We have gone to the Long Beach Restaurant since it opened a ton of times and with Chef Katt and Owners opening this Sister Restaurant, we are a hard YES!!!
Thai Nachos 😵💫 CRAZY GOOD!!!
