This is our favorite neighborhood family owned restaurant for Thai food! The panang curry is SO GOOD! I am not usually a tofu type of person, but i recommend trying the panang curry with tofu. It may actually make a tofu fan out of you! The chicken version is also top-notch. The beef Thai sticks and spring rolls are also great. It is not at all a "fancy" or dress up type of place and I think they do a lot of to-go orders because they are never packed inside the restaurant (which is a bonus for my wife & I). They also do not serve any alcohol at this restaurant. The service is often hit or miss, but their food is well worth the sometimes underwhelming service you receive (mostly young high school type kids lacking personality). When the owners come out to work the dining area, it is usually much better service. I HIGHLY recommend this place if you like good quality Thai or Asian food!

Our favorite for Oriental Cuisine. All the food is very fresh and crisp and the floor is outstanding. When we make the 45 minute drive here, we always make sure to stock up with a to-go order so we can enjoy it the next day also. Portions are large and prices are reasonable considering the quality ingredients they use to prepare a fantastic meal. Highly recommend.

This is where you go when you want hot and crunchy chicken for your Chinese cravings. The negative reviews on here expect tofu to taste like filet mignon or they didn’t properly read the menu. As far as the staff, they are so friendly but nay sayers do not understand their first language is not what ours is. That should tell you this is authentic as it gets. This is one of the cleanest kitchens you will eat out of in the Birmingham area. Order the Dragon & Phoenix if you know what’s good for you!! You will get the portion you pay for, if $14 is too much try Sonic.

Wow! Only Asian Restuarant open on Sunday! Our young Asian lady waitress was more than helpful and willing to accommodate our needs with my dietary restrictions/food allergies. We ordered the Tofu (Fried Bean Curd) & it was delicious!!! Perfectly seasoned with perfectly cooked veggies—which was mostly broccoli, baby corn, zucchini, green pepper. The Egg flower soup was okay—needed a few veggies like peas carrots or shrooms. But all in all, it was really delish! And I am very picky about my food—this was the best Chinese food I’ve eaten in AL!!!

Simply the best tasting Chinese and Thai around! They never disappoint, it tastes so wonderful. My favorite is green curry with shrimp. We also love the cashew chicken. And spring rolls!

This place is probably the best Chinese food in Jefferson/Shelby county. I’ve tried all the rated best and don’t compare. Everyone I ever take is shocked how good the food is. It’s always good, always hot when it is brought out. Some days it looks empty but don’t let it fool you, they have a lot of take out. Now I will agree you will not be treated with overly niceness, and some may think they are rude but everyone is about getting your order and food right. I’ve never had my order come out wrong and I am quite difficult. Me and wife been going there for Over 10 years routinely. ( so much that they usually know what we want upon us sitting down)
sometimes they do get slow. But understand that it’s ram by 1 family. Mom, Dad, kids, grandparents. Sometimes only has one server and maybe just in HS. But the wait is always worth it as the food is that Good!!!!

So if want great Chinese food this place is the bomb. If want fake smiles and fast food and food that tastes like mall chinese go elsewhere.

The staff was not friendly once entering. They were not busy. I ordered the sesame chicken. The chicken seemed to have been cooked a bit longer that it should have. My meal was not pleasing. I don’t think I will order from here again.

The restaurant was empty, but it was also 3pm so that's not incredibly unusual. The lady running things wasn't friendly but she wasn't rude. She was just all about business and that's ok, I don't take it personally. My food was cooked quickly and was absolutely delicious...best egg drop soup I've ever had. The pepper chicken was phenomenal and the Bankok spring rolls were fresh, crispy and delicious...I hope people in Alabama appreciate that they have a gem there.

I placed an order online for my husband to pick up. The online total was $14.44. When he called me, he asked what I had ordered for $20, because he knew I was only ordering for myself. I love Thai food! I immediately called them to let them know that they had overcharged my husband. They were adamant that they would correct it the next time I was in. Well, it appears that the owners would rather argue, then correct a mistake that they made. When I ordered my next online order, they refused to correct the charges. I find it completely appalling that business owners would be so irate over $4.78. Thankfully, there’s a new place in Hoover, and I will never visit this establishment again.

We order food for delivery here several times a week. My wife loves the shrimp lo mein. I like the fried rice with shrimp and beef. I get the vegetables too. We have tried several other places but tao is the best. For the last few days they haven’t been delivering so we are about to drive there and eat lunch

I've never been disappointed but this place. My boyfriend found it and we've been loyal customers ever since. The food is fresh and always as ordered. Their Thai cuisine is not so spicy that the flavors don't come through. We love everything except the calamari. We'll continue to frequent. Thank you!

I ordered here for the first time yesterday. I ordered the mongolian beef and general tso chicken on the lunch special. I asked for mild and both had heat to them, especially the chicken. The chicken was too hot and my mouth was on fire. They were both really good, just wish they were not as spicy as they were. I also ordered the crab ragoons. This was really good food, would have rated 5 stars but took off one star because a little too spicy. Will definitely order again, I will just tell them to make it less than mild heat with the spices. I definitely recommend this place, it was sooo good.

Great food at a very convenient location (at least for me). Orange chicken (white meat) is one of my favorites. They are very accommodating if you want your order prepared in a special way.

This restaurant is right down the street from my job, so I eat here for lunch often. I’ve never had a bad experience. My food is always fresh and hot and ready when they say it will be. This is my favorite place for chinese! I recommend the general tso’s and lo mein, but the black pepper chicken is a big hit at my job as well!

Always our go-to Chinese restaurant with a great menu. Unfortunately they do not take any mobile/online payments so I had to drive there rather than someone picking it up on the way home. Customer service is not their strong point.

Best Chinese food ever

Tao Asian is one of my favorite Asian food restaurants. They have a pretty big menu, so there is always something for everyone in our family. I also use the Beyond Menu app, which works for carryout.

The food is good the service is terrible the girl that works there is no business being there she has no customer service and acts like you're bothering her when you ask for something but the food is good

The reason for the second star is because the food food was decent. I was going to give one star because of the waitress rolling her eyes and head when I asked for Togo drink.

Wasn't very good

The egg roll was average. The hot and sour seafood soup was not very good. It's the only hot and sour seafood soup I have ever had that didn't have shrimp or scallops in it. It was nothing but mushrooms and imitation crab. The orange chicken was dark meat and not that good. It's a longer drive but I will definitely go to hunan garden in Hoover next time.

Great food

Tried to call and order take out and apparently the lady on the other end doesn't know how to be nice. Took my order and hung up in my face. Didn't ask for a name, number or anything and didn't tell me a price or how long just hung up. I thought it was very rude and didn't even know if she took my order so I went somewhere else and then I get a call 45 minutes later from a different number saying I didn't pick up my food and asking if I thought it was funny. I will never give my business to this place nor will I ever recommend them

Rude and after spending $12 dollars on each plate, I get home too fine two of my plates were half full, I called to explain my problem but she did nothing then tell me I was wrong and that the plates were full. And if I didn’t like it to bring back her food and she will give me my money back. I will never go back ever. Ok she hung up on me in the end. 👍

The staff is nice and very friendly. However, that’s the most positive thing I could say. The food had no seasoning. I ordered pad thai with tofu. The tofu was huge chunks and very tough, like rubber and the noodles were bland. Some of the noodles were still white. And the entire dish tasted more like lemon than anything else. Major turnoff.

Best Tom Yum Chicken & Tom Yum Shrimp Soup I’ve ever had !

Get the panang curry with chicken! I suggested it to some former coworkers who I still find there enjoying it. Sweet and a bit spicy. Second choice :Hunan chicken. Add some spring rolls and your meal is perfect. Because this is family run, things may seem to get backed up, but it's not too long a wait and occurs because this tiny restaurant is so popular. I could eat there a few times a week. Because I normally have leftovers, I do get a lot of meals here.

The food is so tasty, and well presented. Service has always been excellent. I wish they'd open at four, early birds. They open at 5 for dinner.

Still my favorite. The food is always very consistent and good. It seems to be a small family restaurant and they take care of us. I get the curry with tofu and the family gets the lo mein and pork fried rice. They have a lot of take out business, but we always dine in.

They don’t know what Customer Service is. I called to place an order and tried to speak as clear as ever because i have a southern accent and it sounds worse over the phone. The lady acted like she couldn’t understand me and i was supposed to understand her ying yang. But she ended up getting the order right and hung up in my face. Haha. I love it!

Nothing wrong, just bland.

We were long time customers, but I will never to go this restaurant again. Both of our dishes had undercooked chicken. We live a good bit away, and I do understand these things happen, but they immediately made it clear they did not believe me! Like I have a racket going or something. All they had to do was apologize, and I’m may have let bygones be bygones. They made it clear to me they do not care about their customers or keeping them. Well congratulations. You got it.

If you don't want people to bother you during your family meals, CLOSE YOUR RESTAURANT.
Went to get a to go order. No one was there and they were all eating. The teenagish girl got up, came to the counter, and just looked at me; no "hi", no "can I help you", nothing. It took me a minute for me to decide what I wanted which was obviously putting her out. And God help me if I asked her a question.
Look, some of the food is good, but how about we learn a little customer service and kindness.

For American Chinese food, a favorite. Always very fresh food, served hot, really good service, as always. Try them .

Wrong restaurant. This place is okay but should be about a 3 star. Heavy use of MSG for those that can't tolerate it.

The best Thai/Chinese food in the area. I think it mostly flies under the radar, because of the location, but it's some seriously good food. I used to try different things, until I had the panang curry (extra spicy, of course). It's really good. Everything else is really good, too, but I go out of my way to go here just for the curry. The soups are great, too, if I'm feeling extra hungry.

If my girlfriend and I could give them a 0 star rating we would. We got there and it was empty so the wait time was medium. However, when her entree came out it smelled like wet dog. She rushed to the bathroom and so did I to throw up. It was really disgusting. When asked for a refund and mentioning the foul odor smelling like wet dog while my girlfriend was puking yet again. The man behind the counter tried to make me keep super quiet. Warning: try to not go here, we weren’t able to eat any of our food.

Great taste, great service

I ordered a large shrimp lo mein with an egg roll for takeout. They have a good variety of Chinese and Thai options. When I got home it was still hot. Both the lo mein and the egg roll tasted great! It was well seasoned and the vegetables were crisp.

Painfully mediocre food with an OBNOXIOUSLY long wait time. Waited 50 minutes for 2 orders of sesame chicken for takeout, absolutely unacceptable. Literally watched people come in, be seated, eat, and leave before I got two orders of sesame chicken.

Family owned and run, the folks are so nice. The food is delicious. The service is great and the portions are perfect. I love coming here. I usually get the yellow curried chicken, which is awesome, but got the black pepper chicken. Wow. It is so good. Great balance of flavors. Wife loves the crab rangoons.
