No-nonsense Thai eatery dishing up classics such as curries, stir-fries & drunken noodles.
We have driven by this place like 900 times this year. We finally had the idea to stop in. We are very glad we did. Food is very delicious. I had Pa Naeng Curry 3⭐️ spice, and it's a good amount of spice. At Thai restaurants, I usually go for 4⭐️, but this time I did 3, just because, and it was like a 4 anywhere else. The depth of flavour of the curry was amazing. Highly recommend!
Everyone should go here. I'm already excited for next time!
Always went back here every month to dine in because their food quality is great.
Been in business for a very long time. That alone should tell you something.
Owners are fun and nice. Always greeted us when we returned.
I always frequent their Pad Thai and Drunkard Noodles. Green Curry is great. Ask for the top spice level if you can handle it. Makes the flavor POP!
Huge portions here. If you order multiple dishes, you probably will be taking leftovers.
The flavors for each of their popular dishes are authentic and a great introductory to Thai food.
(Will upload photos once I get a chance)
Staying at the La Quinta and looking for dinner options, I found Koong Thong Thai restaurant a couple blocks from the hotel. Ordered Pad Woon Sen with squid and got the wife Basil Chicken. Both were terrific and generously portioned. Spoke with the owner while waiting and he recommended a place in Boston called Kowloon that had 1000 seats. I told him next time I'm in Boston that I would check it out. He has been at the Auburn Avenue South location for 30 years with only Sundays off. You want good Thai food? Go here.
We went for dinner and both ordered the chicken pad Thai. The service was excellent. The only reason I did not give a 5 star review was because there were no peanuts or limes or cilantro, also was very sweet and I thought could use more tamarind. It was hot and delicious and we will go back again. We also tried and appetizer of fried chicken wings which were a nice start to the meal and were delicious. The restaurant and restroom was VERY clean and comfortable.
Stopped in as we drove through Auburn and were so pleasantly surprised. The food here deserves more stars than Google has posted, it was great! We had both Pad Thai and Pad See Ew - the spice is 1-5 and a 3 was still warm, so if you're used to ordering a not-too-spicy-medium I would order a 1 or 2.
Both dishes were so good, thai iced teas were great as well. Restaurant was very clean and the food came so quickly!
I love this place. It’s authentic Thai food and I know Thai food very well. Having lived in Thailand for three years. The pat sieu squid is excellent, but every dish is to die for. This place is a hidden gem and easy to get to. I’ve never been disappointed.

Souk (The Owner) always treats us with the utmost respect and care from taking our order to serveing our food hes always 100% ! Great Food, Great atmosphere, Great People, always a pleasure & we look forward to our visits!
Yummy food! It is good and spicy. The owner is very nice.
This place offers amazing service and the best pad thi I've ever had in my life
Best Thai food in the PNW. Fresh, healthy and delicious. The spare ribs are so yummy too. I get the Basil chicken and my husband gets the ginger chicken, both are always delicious.
Love this place
My husband and I absolutely love this place. Mainly just feel the homie vibes. Service is always spot on!
Most delicious

Super decent prices, super huge portions, quick service. Everything was delicious. 5 spice chicken pad Thai was superb.
Lovely little place. The food is amazing and the portions are very big.

Incredible experience and service. Came on a Friday night with a group of 7 and the very next night with a group of 23. The pad see ew and drunkard noodles were huge hits with multiple members of the group (large portions, great noodles, plentiful veggies in the drunkard noodles), but the yellow curry, pad thai, and larb were also highlights. The restaurant was incredibly accommodating to our large group and service was fast considering how many of us there were.
Really great portions, delicious food. Happy to take home leftover pad thai
Always Great food, very casual and friendly...
Always great food. It's a bit spicier than some others but I just rate it down 1 star and I'm good. Lots of food for a good price. I highly recommend this place for great Thai.
Love the noodle soup and the yellow curry!
Food is amazing. Ask for it spicy!!
All the Thai favorite are delicious here
We've been going there for over 20 years The owners are very friendly and nice people
Filthiest kitchen I have ever seen. Mold and grease surround the walk-in refrigerator door. Owner licked his fingers right before packaging my food…that I didn’t eat.
Tufo smelt old
Excellent community safety service 👏 and 😋 is the best place to get food
I'm sorry. I'll pass. Next Restaurant. Have a nice day.
Craved some pad see ew...found closest thai place, and this was it! I placed my order for the noodles with no meat just eggs and fried spring rolls...Im almost to the building when they are calling to tell me order is ready...I walk in and let them know what my order was, they reach out for payment without saying anything, one person walks over to look at my order and says, why no meat?! UM 👀 because I didnt want any!?? 😅 $40 bucks later Im home and half the noodles are so clumped together they dont have sauce on them, there was a stringy substance which I hope was the egg🧐😳 and the spring rolls were just eh, luckily the sauce it comes with was flavorful...overall, totally not worth the small fortune spent 😅
The best cury chicken and rice any where around
I really like supporting small businesses. Been meaning to try it...I got pad thai and yellow curry to go. And thai tea. The rice doesn't come with the curry...spent 40$ in all. too much ice in my tea...super full of dye-turned my tongue and teeth orange. Huge serving of curry. Flavor of pad thai was not very good. Service could've been nicer, usually it doesn't matter to me but along with things not tasting very good, not being high quality, I will mention it. The guy barely cared I was there. I won't be back.
We have been customers of this restaurant for over 30 years. I am a zero Star kinda guy, whereas the rest of the family is spicier, and they always get it right. Well worth your time to visit.
Pad Thai was coated with ketchup, definitely won't be back
I’ve been coming here for years. I’ve tried many other Thai places across the country and this one is way up there on my list. The food is consistently great and the owner is very friendly and personable. The building is a little tired but that’s not a big deal.
We went for dinner and both ordered the chicken pad Thai. The service was excellent. The only reason I did not give a 5 star review was because there were no peanuts or limes or cilantro, also was very sweet and I thought could use more tamarind. The restaurant and restroom was VERY clean and comfortable.
Hands down the best Tai food around. So much flavor.
Great food, friendly staff
Ordered pad Thai with extra meat. When the order came took two bites into it and Saw the ratio of meat to pasta was 20%. I called the owner over and showed him the plate and told him there was no extra meat. He looked at it, and I can tell he understood where I was coming from . He didn’t really say anything and walked away. When I came to pay, he charged me for the double meat. I told him I thought I showed you my plate and there was no meat on it. (I would upload a picture so you guys could see it.) He told me “ I’ve been here for 30 years”, Still charged me extra.
Consistently great food.
Must go place in the neighborhood! Authentic Thai food left me speechless!
This is the most authentic thai food youre going to get anywhere in the seattle area. I have t had anything close to this since traveling in Thailand! Im so glad i found this place. Ill drive the 30 min to eat herr again. Ive eaten at all the ones downtown sea, tukwila, federal way, renton, seatac and Puyallup. This place is the beat by far.
Passing through town on a road trip. Had to find food by reviews. Sadly disappointed. My husband and I had meals that were so salty we couldnt eat them. My rice noodles we so overcooked they were one mushy blob. Literally had to throw it out and go to another restaurant.
Extremely satisfied with size and taste!
The food was great and the owner is superb! The restaurant offers authentic Thai food with great taste. Besides that the service and hospitallity is awesome. My dad didn't like his recipe, not because it was bad, it just wasn't his taste, and the owner came with a different meal to make sure my dad had gotten enough to eat.
To the owner: Thank you once again for the generous hospitality and the nice conversation
The food was delicious and owner was very graeous
The food was surprisingly good. The atmosphere isn't much, but the portions and service were good.
May be an eye sore inside sometimes but I will travel for this place! Seriously the best chicken pad Thai and green curry I’ve had around. everyone in there is so kind and welcoming. Just great food and great people!
Great food and good portions for the price!
Delicious Thai, fast food preparation, friendly staff and reasonable prices!
Delicious food, friendly service, very reasonable prices and big portions.
Best Thai food around.
Only complaint is that they don't specify some of their meals that usually come with rice, don't. With spending as much as I did per plate, I shouldn't have to pay extra for rice in a meal choice that includes rice in 3+ different cultures.
Restaurant and food are great... SIMPLEMENU website IS NOT! Used SimpleMenu to place and pay for order. Upon pickup, discovered an item was missing and that it had never been relayed to the restaurant. SimpleMenu LITERALLY charges you to have one of their own employees CALL the restaurant and place your order. It is not automated and mistakes can be made on their end (or it's intentional skimming). SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE and simply call in your order. Owner was kind and made our remaining dish, despite not receiving payment from SimpleMenu on that item. Again - call it in! They're easy to communicate with and very helpful! Thank you!
I love their food.
Absoultely essential Thai food. The owner is a true gentlemen, I've been coming here for 25 years and it has never disappointed. Thanks!
Just got 2 orders from here and the food was so spicy no one in the house could eat it. We wanted a 2/5 on spice level and they both taste like a 5/5
Do NOT order online through the site SIMPLEMENU. IT IS A SCAM! They take your money and do not pay the Restaurant. The food here is great though, this is no fault of the place. They have been hijacked. Call and place your order directly.
Real Thai food with every bit. I been going here for over 15 years and will still continue to go. Owner understand English and always make you feel comfortable.
THIS IS HANDS DOWN THE ABSOLUTE BEST THAI RESTAURANT EVER, IVE TRIED ALOT AND WILL NEVER GO ELSEWHERE AGAIN BEYOND POLITE OWNERS, THEY ALWAYS MAME SURE EVERYTHING IS PERFECT IM YOUR ORDER BEFORE IT GOES OUT ALSO ALWAYS VERY FRESH AND STEAMY HOT, MAKE SURE TO ORDER A LITTLE EXTRA CUS U WILL DEFINITELY WNAT LEFTOVERS FOR ANOTHER PLATE LOL BEST I ALWAYS GET THE YELLOW CURRY, BEEF PAD THAI, VEGIE FRIED RICE, SPRING ROLLS, GARLIC CHICKEN, ALL 2 STAR AND I HAVE NOT 1 TIME HAD AN ISSUE EVER BEEN COMIN HERE FOR ABOUT 15ISH YEARS
The guy working was really nice, he got jokes lol. We ordered shrimp pad Thai, beef pad Thai, chicken wings, and fried rolls. Everything tasted good. I wish the pad Thai had cilantro. The place looked a little old inside but other than that I would definitely get food again.
Best thai food in auburn .food is beyond delicious.
Food is amazing and the owner is also amazing
At one time I would have said this was the best Thai food place in the area. We used to go here often because it used to be so good. Sadly they have changed for the worst. The restaurant has downgraded the noodles they used in their pad thai & increased the prices. Ask for extra chicken? That will be an extra $8 & I can't tell the difference in the amount from their regular amount in the dish. Be careful for their price gouging if you decide to try it.
They have the very best chicken pad Thai.
Best Tai food ever!
Genuinely spicy Thai food in a casual environment at reasonable prices. We really enjoyed our dinner here even though the AC wasn't working and service was slow.
This is our go-to for take-out Thai food. The portions, quality and pricing are all great. We've ordered a variety of dishes and I can't say that we've been disappointed with anything. The Tom Kah Kai, Yellow Curry, and of course, Pad Thai are favorites that we keep coming back to. We often order extra pork or chicken with our dish for only $2!
My wife and I have been eating out here for years. We love Thai food and order exclusively from Koong Thing when they are open. But, sometimes we get a craving for it on Sunday when Koong Thong is closed, so that’s when we try different Thai restaurants. No place has curry that is even close to how good Koong Thongs is. We’ve eaten at Koong Thong three times in one week before. My wife and I both love the red chicken curry and beef pad se ew. I sometimes get prawn yellow curry.
I tried curry from a different Thai restaurant today and only ate half before I just wanted to pour it down the drain.
The only down side to Koong Thong is that it’s not always consistent. I (once) received yellow curry that was watery and didn’t seem to have coconut milk in it. Sometimes we get rice with a dish and other times we don’t receive rice. The next time we will pay for rice because we didn’t get rice with the same order previously and then get double rice. Also, the spice is sometimes inconsistent, but we don’t mind that because we assume it’s because they use fresh peppers which can fluctuate greatly in heat. Just beware if your sensitive to spice. I love spice that hurts going in and coming out but my wife like a much more mild level of spice. I’ve had 5 stars that I could hardly finish and some that tasted like 3 stars. My wife has had 3 stars they taste like 5 stars or 0 stars. Regardless of the heat is right though, it’s always delicious.
Lastly, the owner is very friendly and this is a nice family owned local place. In the 5-6 years we’ve been eating here, I have never seen someone else working the front desk. I’ve been in when it’s dead and when it’s slammed and he’s obviously stressed.
Highly recommend.
Great food and service from old school style Thai restaurant.
Excellent food, excellent price. Definitely worth a try.
I had the red curry (substituted tofu for chicken) and my husband had the chicken phad Thai. They were both yummy. We will definitely be returning. The atmosphere could be improved but the food was so good. We came back and tried the Cashew Nut and Masumum Curry. They were both delicious!
Would be great if they included rice for both curry dishes. 😤 always double check your order!
Friendly staff, and the best phad thai around.
I absolutely LOVE this place! I've been going for at least the last 15 years, and the owner always remembers me. The food is amazing, and when you request spicy they really deliver!
Absolutely delicious, perfectly spicy at a 2 star, and very large helpings. I spread it out for three different meal times. Highly recommend.
Love this place. Been going there for years. My grandsons mother is Thai and I always share pictures of my grandson. Not to mention the food is the best I've had outside of Bangkok, Ao Nang and Udon Thani.
The owners are super friendly! Ordered their Phad Seew with chicken and it was delicious! Definitely recommend coming here!
The best restaurant in Auburn hands down. They've been around since I was a kid. The building use to be a Taco Time branch but went out of business. Gladly, they got hold of this place and made it what it is. Amazing food, good price, and a full stomach. I appreciate Koong Thong for being here all these years. Good people run this place and the efforts they put into their business reflects that. The pad Thai and yellow curry are my two favorites.
Way too spicy at a 3. Couldn’t even enjoy the food. Order panang curry and only chicken was in it- usually you get peppers or shoots or other veggies. That was disappointing. Pad Thai was greasy and way too spice for a 3. Asked for extra peanuts and it was like they put the whole jar of peanuts on it and no lime. Lime makes the flavors come out. Disappointed with the lack of detail on those things and the spice profile being so strong and I usually do well with 3 out of 5. I won’t be back for my Thai fix.
It looks run down but this place is the best in Auburn. Becareful with the spicy, they are true lao/thai spicy. Not like these other places that do not get very hot.
Such a gem in Auburn!! The prices were very fair and portions were huge. Got a pad Thai and a tom kha soup and both were great! Owner was friendly as well. Love supporting local businesses and can't wait to be back!
Ordered pad thai and pad see ew. Great price for how much food you get. Its a little divey but if you dont mind that, the foods pretty good. If you're craving a giant amount of thai food, this is the place to go. It's not the same as a dish from Bai Tong but it still hits the spot.
Delicious food. Everything we've ever tried here is good
Food is so good.
This place was delicious. I got level 4 spice which was perfect for me.
Good serving size fkr price. Spice levels are higher than expected
Delicious food and friendly service. Huge portions
Koong Thong NEVER EVER disappoints. Been going here for years! Hands down the best Thai restaurant period. 😋❤️
I ordered 2 stars and it was really a 4 - way too hot. I called and asked if I could get it reordered but was told I had to pay for another order. Oh well...
Pad thai was good! A 3* spicey is more 5* so becareful when ordering spice! Thai tea is very sweet and lighter tea. No inside dining still as of 4/20/21.
I love Koong Thong! The owner and his wife are the sweetest, the food is very decently priced and you get huge, delicious portions! We live about 20 minutes away but it’s well worth the drive to us. Seriously, give this place a chance. You won’t regret it!
Asked for a curry dish that was supposed to include vegetables and tofu, with medium spice. What I got was tofu in curry sauce...no vegetables and so hot (spice) that it was inedible. We could only eat the steamed rice that came as a side. Very disappointing.
Woah watch out. You get a mountain of food from this place. Enough for 2 big servings or 4 people if you share appetizers.
Great taste and flavor. You get a good amount of meat with the noodles and big pieces, not thin.
Ordered a mild and it’s a little dance in your mouth if you have a low spice tolerance. I was fine with it but it was more than I expected. Order 0 no spice if you can’t handle spiciness that well.
Hope to try the rest of the menu.
IT was ok. My food should have been in a soup container. It was not so liquids spilled out before I even opened it. my squid was delicious though. The short ribs and rolls were over cooked and dry...it could have been better. I wont be going back. My family wont either.
Delicious food! I love spicy food and their four star is very satisfying for me. However, their spice does run on the hot side, so you may want to consider going down one star from your normal level. My girlfriend loves spicy food and usually gets three star. The three star at Koong Thong was a little too much for her. She found the two star to be perfect! The Phad Thai, Pad Sei Ew, Rama are delicious. The salty beef is a delicious dish and I find it perfectly seasoned--it is not overly salty like the name might imply. They run a tight ship--I have only seen two people working there. I am thankful they are surviving the pandemic. Their food is delicious and generous servings.
Been going here since 1996. Excellent food. Great service. The owners and cooks are kind, friendly and professional.
The only place I would ever go to for Thai food in Auburn area. The staff is very personable, food is top notch and your money goes much further here. At other places I would have to order 2-3 portions of mediocre food to get full. This place I can barely finish one portion on my best day. They treat you like Family and feed you just the same. Business like these are facing extinction due to our individualistic community. If you like authentic Thai food. You have to come here.
Ordered pad thai and it was made in like 5 mins and the food tested literally like tomatoe catchup and salt, i couldn't complete it.
Gooooood
We ordered here for the first time tonight after lots of recommendations. We had Pad See Ew, Curry Fried Rice and Pad Thai. The Pad See Ew was good, but the pad Thai and curry fried rice were inedible. I got two stars on both and it was more like a five. The pad Thai was sweet and at the same time, flavorless. I’m going to try and fix both of them so they’re are edible as leftovers. I will not be going back again. Gor Gai and Sweet Rice are exponentially better.
I was really excited to eat here and ordered take out. When I arrived the man at the counter was not wearing a mask but put on a face shield when I approached. I could see 3 employees in the kitchen, none were wearing masks or shields. I decided to abandon my order and eat somewhere else.. it was very disappointing.
This is hands-down our favorite Thai. The best Pad See Ew ever! Souk and his wife Sombang are such lovely people too.
Delicious food, good price. Friendly service. Usually like 3 spice level next time will get 2 level.
Best Thai food in the area! Hands down!
Incredible food! Always FRESH and delicious! Loved coming here when I worked in Auburn.
I work down the street from this place and was always a little skeptical but tonight I got dinner from Koong Thong and it was amazing!!! The flavor was great and if you request spice they will deliver! 10/10 would recommend!
Five star for the five star heat! Love thaes guys SUPER GREAT food!
This was our favorite Thai food restaurant in the entire area until last Saturday, my Wife's Birthday. We've been going here or ordering out for year's; since the Health Department rating was 'Excellent'. This place is rated 'ok' as of this review and now we know why. The food tasted like it was cooked yesterday or perhaps even pulled from the dishwasher filter and tossed in sauce. This was my Wife's 51st Birthday and a great excuse to have her two Son's over for the first time in a while because of the Virus. The man that took the order over the phone repeatedly asked her Son, whom was paying for the entire families dinner, why he was ordering so much food. My Wife's Son had to keep repeating that it was his Mother's Birthday. Upon reflection, we should have just ordered a pizza. While this place did not ruin my Wife's Birthday, it certainty left a foul taste in our mouths, both figuratively and litteraly. Goodbye, Koong Thong.
Absolutely delicious 😋
very good, if your not a spice fan keep it below a lvl 2 i love spicy food and was warned at lvl 3..... slightly regret my decision.
Great food ....
I cannot say enough good things about this place! It might not look like much from the outside but their food is awesome. Great pricing with huge portions. The owner, his wife and one of the cooks are all so nice every time we go in. I recently moved away from the area but any time I want some Thai food, we make the 15-20 minute drive to get some from here rather than hitting up one of the 6 Thai restaurants near us.
Good price with good food...
We ordered 2 orders of mild spice pad thai. The order was SO spicy that we could not even eat it. One of us usually order 3 star spice when ordering. We were conservative trying a new place and we couldn't even eat more than 2 bites it was so spicy. I contacted the restaurant to let them know about my order and the person who answered the phone was extremely rude to me saying too bad, and that that was a 1 star spice. I will never order from them again and I would recommend that you stay away from them also. I hope they go out business. Extremely poor customer service skills.
Great food.... Reminds me of the quality of food in Thailand! A real hidden gem!
We have gone here a bunch. Best bang for you buck when it comes to the quantity of food. It used to be pretty solid. Spicy 1-5 was pretty spot on. As of covid 19, something has changed. We got a 2 that tasted like a 5 with no other taste besides spice. We back again and we both ordered a 1, of a two or three with no other underlining flavors. Idk what's up, won't be going back
Best Thai food around the state good and friendly service I would keep coming back and telly friends about this place
Best Thai food I have ever had!! Seriously I have tried Thai food at so many other restaurants and nothing has compared. Portions are big and food is very homestyle and absolutely delicious. Staff is so friendly. I moved out of state and it’s on my bucket list every time I go home. Definitely would recommend this place to anyone.
Best Thai food I’ve ever had. Favorite place to go. I’ve moved and I have to go back there. Super nice guy that owns it. All the other Thai places I’ve been don’t compare consistently with all different types of dishes here. Nothing fancy, homey feel.
Great prices, great food, authentic. Spice-sensitive folks be warned: when I say authentic I mean AUTHENTIC. If you usually get a 3-star dish, trust me, don't go higher than 2. Even a friend of mine used to authentic spicy Thai food was slammed by the 3-star. Don't try to be brave. 😂🔥🔥🔥
I'd definitely call this place "no-nonsense," but I like that. Very straightforward but still polite. Handled the social distancing policy very well, also. Lots of respect to that.
Service very good great customer service but noodles were very sticky chicken was dry and they only give 1 sauce for 6 spring rolls and a bit pricey I am thankful though the flavor is yummy😋
Great food staff and veiws.
Food was and great! Fast and friendly service.
My favorite Thai Restaurant!! Fresh, great prices, authentic, great service, generous portions. Family owned and I highly recommend it!
Beware! If you order 4 or (don't do it) 5 star spicy level. Expect it to be inedible.
Great food, but both times we have ordered to go they have gotten our order wrong. I guess we’ll have to start checking the box before we leave the restaurant.
This place is my Jam!!! I have worked in the restaurant industry for years and this is my favorite place to treat myself to a meal out. Why? Because, it is absolutely fresh and made to order, as well as consistent. I know I am getting fresh homemade Thai food when I come here. Anytime someone wants to meet me for a meal out, this is my place! I drive from out of town to come here.
Literally the best Thai outside of Thailand. I've been eating here for over a decade now. This restaurant should be on your bucket list. The owners are great and the food is greater than great. AND it's relatively inexpensive. I mean common. DON'T GO ANOTHER DAY WITHOUT EATING HERE!!
Best thai ever!
One of their very first customers. My favorite Thai restaurant.
Love the noodles and their price!
Me and my husband just ate there. It was great food and a great price. The customer service was amazing. We had a long day and our server/cook was just so friendly and it really made our day better. We are very greatful for the experience.
We went with our family. The food was good. The wait was a bit long. Small restaurant.
Not impressed. This was my first time eating here. I ordered the pad Thai beef. I got home ( I live maybe 5 minutes away) and the noodles were super dry and completely stuck together. There are so many good reviews on here that maybe it was just a bad night or maybe their other dishes are better. Not sure.
Fantastic little place in Auburn serving up some great Thai
Food is AMAZING! Excellent service! Thank you!
They got the goodies.
The food is awesome! Great portions and pricing too. Very happy I came here!
Great food, service and environment!! And reasonable prices to boot!
I was definitely impressed at how nice everything was, nice people and delicious food.
Food bad. Too much fish sauce in their dishes !
Best Thai restaurant in U.S I've ever tried in 10 years. Waiter service is not that good since the cashier does everything but the food is the best.
And very spicy other Thai restaurant 5 stars= this 3 stars. So my white folks don't do over 2 stars of spice.
