Kin Thai is definitely the best Thai and Sushi restaurant in San Antonio. I love it when the owner cares about her customers and take pride & joy in her work. They have a great menu, a good wine selection. Each plate is big! Prices are very reasonable. And the service is good. Conveniently located off 1604. There are plenty of parking. Great spot for a lunch date. I have been there multiple times and every time a good experience. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Food and presentation we're great. I didn't get "Thai Hot" but just the level below and it was honestly a bit too hot, even though I love hot food. Next time I will go for medium. Still delicious.
Fried rice was not terribly firm or flavorful. Didn't seem fried. Next time I'll opt for white rice.
Five stars still for the gorgeous presentation and delicious Thai tea.
I haven't mentioned in other reviews but the cleanliness in the restroom always sets a tone for the overall cleaning of the restaurant and it was clean. The food always settles better when you feel the food is prepared in a clean and sanitary place.
Now to the food. Amazing. Great. Filling. Delicious. Spicy. Flavourful. So many ways to describe the food. Good af.
The food is bussin.
I must say this place slaps.
We met friends here for dinner one evening as our husbands were craving sushi and we thought we'd try a new spot! We started with the Thai Spring Rolls and Spicy Lemon Garlic Edamame, both of which were so delicious and the perfect amount for 4 people to share. I had never ordered curry from a non-Indian restaurant before and so when my friend suggested the Panang Curry (protein of choice was chicken), I was curious and decided why not! This curry is a red chili Thai-based curry made with coconut milk and had chopped bell peppers, fresh lime and basil - it was SO GOOD and just the right amount of spice! My Husband ordered the Spicy Roll and the San Antonio Roll and he loved them, 2 rolls were plenty! Overall great food and good service!
The food is very good! We have come here about 5 times and have recommended it. The service is excellent and the servers I've met have been on par with servers you'd expect at a finer dining establishment.
My only qualms were the lack of Thai basil or lime basil, any basil really. I LOVE Thai basil and felt like the Thai fried rice was really lacking that extra punch of flavor that Thai or lime basil brings to Thai dishes.
That being said my family still loves this place and will still continue going.
Great Thai food. It's one of our to restaurants.

The pad thai is the BEST!!
Small place but very clean and pleasant. Service was great! The food was presentable and very delicious and fresh. The whole staff are very friendly and polite. Definitely recommend this small little gem in this side of town.
Love the San Antonio Roll. Sushi is always fresh!
The service and the restaurant atmosphere were on point. But the food was served in large portions and a bit bland in my taste. The food was presented beautifully.
Yup go try this place we did.
We eat take out here every week without fail. As a result, the staff know me by name and always make sure that our food is fresh and well timed.
Solid place for sushi and pretty good Thai. The service is great and the atmosphere is pretty nice. The outdoor area is near the parking lot and there's a lot of street noise, but the area is clean and nicely manicured.
I really enjoyed the food. And the atmosphere was very chill and looked like a place that wasn't packed but stays busy. It smelled good and the service was up to par.
Great small restaurant, cozy but modern atmosphere... Food was dynamite. We had a fried avocado, sushi roll, and pork belly fried rice and all were excellent. We were greeted quickly and sat right away. Server was very nice and attentive. Will definitely be back!
My mom and I love this place. Good food and fair prices.
Food was delicious. Small place made it a great for date night.
Great pad Thai and sushi reliable always.
Kin has some of the best sushi in town. My son and I love sushi and are always trying out the best places in SA for sushi. While there are other great sushi joints, Kin gives them all a run for their money! We love the Super Panko Roll, Vegas Roll, and the Red Curry is outstanding!
I get the chicken curry..so good.. Everyone so nice.
Firstly the food was good and worth it, however, our service was terrible. We went on a Thursday night, so it wasn’t super busy. When we got there our waitress was initially very attentive and great, until a table of people who I believe were her regulars came. Before that table arrived, we had placed two appetizer orders. The table of her regulars placed an order of one of the spring rolls we had also put in. When our appetizers were ready, our waitress brought out the appetizers and left one at our table but took the other one to the other table, the spring rolls both tables had ordered. We had no issue since we thought another one would come out for us soon. When the kitchen rang another order of spring rolls, the wait staff took them and ate them. We sat and watched as our waitress and the entire staff ate our spring rolls behind the bar. When our waitress finally came to check on us and I brought up the fact we were missing food. She knew I had seen her eat the entire order as we watched hungry. She said she would check on the food and ran to the kitchen. We told her we didn’t want it anymore since our food was coming out. Once the check came, our waitress sent another waitress to charge us who said that a drink was removed for the missing food item. A drink which was not valued at the same amount. When we complained that the items were not of equal value and we were paying more than the missing food, the other waitress went back to ask our original waitress to have the drink and the spring rolls removed. It’s so shocking they tried to have us pay for the food they ate in front of us and then how they acted that the kitchen messed up the order when we clearly saw them eat our food. As mentioned, the food was good, but I will never dine again. Especially if I’m expected to pay for the waitstaff’s meals and watch them eat it in front of me.
Love the fresh sushi but service was a little slow for it being pretty open.
Sushi was decent. Workers were kids who played around in the restaurant. 1 Green tea bag is 3$. Thai food was ok.
The food was okay. It's nothing special. The service was okay. My server disappeared to someone else who had to tend to me. I had to wait a while to order cause she was too busy sitting behind the register eating her food. The atmosphere was at least clean and calm.
This is my favorite restaurant in San Antonio, sushi or otherwise! Their staff is warm and welcoming, the atmosphere is upscale, but relaxed, and the food is AMAZING! The Kin Spring Rolls and Crabmeat Fried rice are delish and I've never had a sushi roll here that wasn't super yummy!
Loved everything here. Spicy crab is indeed spicy.
I liked their Pad Thai. Back ground music was pretty good(not too loud, not too quite).
Dish
Tipsy noodles level 4 spice
Pro
Good service
Friendly staff
Nice ambiance
Clean restaurant and restroom
Great spice level
Good portion size - mostly noodles
Good was flavorful
Cons
Food to table a little slow
Veggie portion small
This restaurant was pretty good and very clean. In the future, I can see myself coming back to enjoy another meal. I would try a different dish, even though the one I had was really good.
Great food and service! Definitely coming back!
Came by on a Monday evening with some friends. The place was busy but we got seated quickly. We started with Gyozas - a classic appetizer. The fry was nice and the hot chili sauce that came with it was yummy. I then got a tuna hand roll - It was stuffed with ingredients and still had strong integrity when eating. The tuna was fresh and so were the veggies. For the entrée, I got Yakisoba noodles with fried tofu. I am always cautious about fried tofu, as it can easily be soggy. this was not the case here ! The tofu was crispy and the dish was so flavorful, i finished desiring more. (even though i was stuffed) Each dish I had was plated with thought and looked like a piece of art. The price was fair for the amount of food provided. I would definitely come back for some delicious sushi and Thai food!
The best sweet tea I can find. Sushi tastes delicious. Friendly staff. It's very hard to find a restaurant like this.
The food is good, but not particularly Thai spicy.
I haven't mentioned in other reviews but the cleanliness in the restroom always sets a tone for the overall cleaning of the restaurant and it was clean. The food always settles better when you feel the food is prepared in a clean and sanitary place.

Really enjoy their Spicy Thai Basil dish with Chicken...it's my go-to dish and it always hits the spot.
I’m not happy with the customer service in this restaurant.
Place was busy but there were about 5 tables empty, staff looked confused and overwhelmed.
People came after us with no reservations greeting staff and the guys cooking the sushi and they got seated before us, I had asked one of the girls if we could put 2 tables together (by the front entrance) and she said no, I asked about the big round table and she said no because it was reserved (no one occupied the table the entire time we were there) finally we were about to leave and a guy came and said there was a table for 4 that we could seat there (we were 2 adults and 4 kids), to wait for the table next to us to put it together… loooongg story… Anyways… I will give them another chance on a weekday JUST because their food was delicious.
I was very disappointed to see that I was charged a gratuity about $25 but since I had no chance to review my receipt I also tipped $32 dlls, I ended up paying about $211 for our meal.
I will update my review on my next visit & will post photos of the food.
Excellent Thai, Vietnamese and Sushi selections. Everything we had was full of flavor. They also have wine and beer,
Made us all sick.
Awesome food but wow the service is rough. Been here several times and they always seem short staffed.
SO disappointing. Ordered take out. Chicken satay. Tom Kha Gai. Kin House Roll. Waited 10 minutes past expected delivery time…which was fine but the food was rough. Third time eating here. The other two times brought us back. We won’t go again. Soup had next to no flavor. Worst Tom Kha Gai we have had anywhere. Satay was heavy on black pepper. Strange. Sushi roll was so-so. Too bad as it is close to home. We will look elsewhere for take out.
LOVE this place's food! Everything we get from here, every time is fantastic!
Very friendly and tasty food
under new management.. but i believe the chef(s) is the same.. hence the foods still taste great..
Food was very yummy. Good portions presented very well. Would come back if I’m in the area.
Very good ppl
I gave if a Five star because it does have great food and service. Even though I think compared to other similar places in the area, it is a bit over priced
All the sushi rolls are delicious and fresh
We ate here tonight for my sister’s birthday. The food is not only AMAZING, it’s BEAUTIFUL TOO!! How do they put spiralized beets and ORCHIDS on every dish???? The staff was super amazing. So kind and helpful. Loved everything we ordered and just about ordered the whole menu. 15 of us.
Food and service is the best in town 👍🏽
We came into San Antonio for a game - it was so fresh and tasty! I highly recommend visiting this place if in town
Always enjoy eating at KinThai. We had our usual Ceviche, Tom Gai soup, Papaya Salad, Panang Duck. Never had a bad dish. Delightful. Great service. Always attentive.
Lunch portion was a pretty decent size, pad thai was good, though I think next time I'll get a hot instead of the medium since it was still pretty mild for my taste. The thai tea was too milky. Overall I would visit again.
I just moved to SA and been looking for a local sushi spot! The rolls were sooo good! Just what I was craving! I got the Alamo roll (pictured in bottom) and the 305 roll (roll on top). My favorite roll was the Alamo roll. 2 rolls were enough for 1 person. However, it was a bit pricey for 2 rolls I paid $35 plus tip. The only complaint was that I was on hold for a while when placing to go order over the phone. Had to hang up and call a second time. Will have to come back and dine inside
I’ve been coming to this place for over a year and it has never disappoint. One of my top Thai restaurants in SA. Their curry’s and Sushi are amazing. It has a great chill environment to have a nice conversation or casual date.
Missed out on putting my 10$ worth of shrimp in my 15$ entree total 25$ went back and got a new entree with the spice on 172, wayyyyyy to spicy!!!! very funny guys. Well I’m going to the bathroom now SPITTIN OUT LIKE FLAMES 🔥🔥
Decent Thai food, Tom Ka Gai was a bit watery and needed more coconut milk. Sushi was good, fresh spring rolls were good. I tasted my wife's pad Thai (with zucchini noodles) and it was tasty. We will go back but may give the Tom Kai Gai a pass.
KIN Thai is the best for this type of cuisine close to our house. We've never had a bad meal or service here, and have been back at least 10 times. Highly recommend for freshness and great service!
Good but pricey.
My colleagues recently invited me to Kin Thai + Sushi for lunch and we had an excellent experience. The staff are welcoming, super friendly and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious - we had a variety of dishes including pork belly fried rice, pork belly stir-fry, sticky rice with mango, lab moo, chicken satay and more. All of the dishes had great flavor and fresh ingredients. Pal who is the Owner is the sweetest person ever! She took time to speak with us and explain each meal. It was a great dining experience and I would highly recommend KIN thai + sushi for anyone looking for an enjoyable meal.
This is by far my favorite Thai food and sushi restaurant. The food is presented beautifully, tastes incredible, and is a nice quiet place to escape with great food and a calm atmosphere.
We met friends here for dinner one evening as our husbands were craving sushi and we thought we'd try a new spot! My Husband ordered the Spicy Roll and the San Antonio Roll and he loved them, 2 rolls were plenty! Overall great food and good service!
Love this plac and bathroom super clean
Honestly one of the best Thai restaurants around. Great food and service every time.
Honestly. work. Such a vibe.
Discovered I don't like nigiri here. (Not saying it was bad)
The Philadelphia rolls were great!
Edit: came back multiple times after posting this, loved it every time! (also I like nigiri now :D)
So good, nailed it.
Love the 🍣 here
I was extremely disappointed in the crispy pork belly fried rice, especially for a dish that costs $16.99. The rice itself was fine, though it needed more something (flavor, veggies, ...). But the pork belly tasted like it had been leftover, and it was either refried or fried too long because most of the pieces were somewhat difficult to chew. I'm not a customer who's difficult to please, but spending this much money on a dish that I'm guessing is usually splendid was a quite a letdown.
Delicious, but recently, the sushi rolls are losing their quality since they opened. Also, my mango sticky-rice rice was piping hot rice. As a dessert, it's usually cold. Quality has declined the past 2 years, but I still think they're good.
My family and I frequently visit Kin Thai. The food is freshly made and the presentation has been aesthetically pleasing every time I've visited. The customer service is also great, very consistent. We often order the chicken Thai rice, 305 roll, San Antonio roll, and the red dragon.
Dishes we order amazing
My favorite local restaurant. Never had a bad dish or a hint of bad service. Food is always fresh and delicious. The place is always spotless, and the service is friendly and attentive. I goto Kin Thai regularly. Their Kin Thai spring rolls are enough on their own to put this place in my top 5 restaurants in San Antonio.
Kin Thai is a hidden gem!!!!! I cannot recommend this place enough. Their edamame and the fried tofu yakisoba is to die for. Their service is fast and friendly and the place is very clean and decorated so cute.
Clean, friendly staff, and the food was beautifully displayed with accompanying orchid blooms 😍
High quality food, large portions, & nice service. We were seated right away, even though the restaurant was pretty full. Appetizers of kin rolls and lemon spiced edamame. I had the Alamo roll with tempura shrimp, cream cheese, avocado & crab meat and a hand roll. Husband ate the Tipsy noodles which were full of veggies and chicken. We both had the lychee soda. I’m definitely going back to try the other dishes.
FANTASTIC. We’ll be back!
Certain dishes are very good, others just so so. A little pricey, but that is the norm nowadays.
2pm on a Saturday. Greated rt away. Clean inside. Nice day, so Set outside. Good shaded clean area.
Service was quick & friendly
Food was FANTASTIC!!!!!
PHO, poke roll, octopus sashimi, chirashi Don bowl & Thai spring rolls.
Reasonable prices.
WE WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK
Super friendly and great place!
Food was great. Sashimi portions were good. I would prefer the sashimi to be in 4 slices instead of 3. That would make them just slightly thinner, keeping the same overall size. And better soy sauce to fish ratio when dipping.
I didn't ask, but it would be nice to see other soy sauce options other than Kikkoman.
Wow for a dinner plate 15.00 bucks , first look like no way this is my order it was a small portion .talk about food ration . Thought I was going to be able to share with my kid nope now I have to go to Pdanda express to get a full meal or portion .. Unbelievable . This place you will still be hungry for almost 20 bucks and a tip.
Food was good and the service was great.
Lots of variety. Wonderful service.
Best sushi I've eaten! Many other great options too; I love their curries.
Was not impressed with the customer service. I waited over 6 minutes to be greeted, I waited 20 minutes for my to go order which was ordered 17 minutes prior to my arrival. The staff was very unprofessional, rude when I ansked how much longer my order was going to tan and unbelievably unorganized. I am not one to come out of my shell to leave a review, but I was also sub par food.
Great food and better service. We will be back!
Sushi rolls and Niri were all excellent! Excellent service. Ambiance is a little lacking. Good eats!
Small place, food is good, gotta watch out though when you have a party of 6 or more, they add automatic gratuity and then when you pay the bill, they give you the kiosk on the tip screen, sneaky sneaky..... Gotta tell me upfront you're charging that 18%
I was impressed my first visit and will definitely go back. We had a roll and pad thai, both great.
Food is great. But please be more consistent with your hours of operation. I understand you are now closed on a Sunday when we used to order every Sunday and now you're closed on a Monday? Granted it's labor day holiday but I was looking to order from yall tonight bc I knew you were closed on Sunday...consistency would be appreciated
Brought the family here after shopping nearby. Glad to find this place as its better than most of restaurants in the area. Food was excellent, fish was great. I was surprised how much fish came in my chirashi bowl because the price was so good. Sashimi pieces were huge although the rice was not good at all. What made up for the bad rice is the clean restroom. I was surprised how clean the men’s restroom is, so that kept the 5 star rating here for me.
Pros:
Parking
Assortment of Thai and Japanese
Fish is all excellent
Cons:
Service can get busy with other tables
Fruit flies buzzing around the entire meal
Rice is terrible 😞
Overall we really enjoyed our food and meal here and I would recommend this place to family and friends.
This is the 5th time I ordered from this place and all 4 times ordering sushi they never provided soy sauce. So this time I specifically asked for soy sauce to be added to my Togo order and guess what they still forgot. Love this place for eating in but never going to order Togo again.
My favorite sushi place!!
Some dishes can be made vegan.
Food is great some portions are really small though like Thai fried rice.
The appetizers were great!! The sushi was good, but the Thai food was not the move. Neither was the fried rice. The rice was mushy and lacked any sort of flavor. Idk if it was the Thai food itself or the fact that whoever was cleaning around us was using a heavy dose of fabuloso or cleaning products around us, and the smell didn't mix well with the food.
Been going to this location frequently. Each time trying a new dish. Never been dissappointed. We really enjoy this place.
The server we had was more interested in talking to the chef then taking orders
The Jasmine chicken and rice soup is really good! My husband is a huge fan of the fried rice!
Very good potstickers and great sushi options including no rice options wrapped in cucumber. Saki flight was neat addition too.
Waited 10 min for water. Ordered and was told when everyone else's food arrived, that they were out of pork belly so had to wait more for a meal. The beef in Thai salad was tough as leather. Pungent fish oil dressing as well. If you do family style ordering, be prepared for super tiny plates (which isn't too bad). Dining area was clean and the food looked great - it just wasn't overall. Had 'tipsy noodles', pork belly stir fry, pineapple fried rice. Oh... and a 18% gratuity for our party of 6! I wouldn't have been that generous.
The place was packed. I ordered ToGo and waited about 15 mins on a wed eve. Forgot to take pics but the Caterpillar roll is awesome!! Spicy edamame isn’t too hot which is good for me.
By far the best sushi restaurant near my house. It's delicious!
I give this place 2 stars overall just because the service was fair and everything was clean. Food wise we won't go back. My son and I had gyoza, crispy pork belly fried rice and shrimp yakisoba. The gyoza was serviceable, not great not bad. The yaki came out luke warm and the shrimp were cold. Their version of "crispy" pork belly is to cube up some ham an then cook it to point that it has the same crunch as a crouton. It was bad to the point I couldn't eat it any more. When the waitress asked if I like it I told her I just wanted the check and that it was bad. To her credit she remove 1/2 the charge for my dish. A funny side note is that when the check came my fortune cookie had no fortune. My son and i laughed that it was the universe telling me I don't need to eat there again.
Staff was friendly, but seemed a bit confused. Ordered the Pad Woon Sen, which was pretty good but not spicy at all. Overall it was fine, but a bit expensive for the quality. Maybe a lunch special kinda place.
Went in, gave them my name was told that they were still making it. 15 minutes later, no one came to give an update, went up to another server and he found it right on the to go cart…terrible experience!
Good good
Pretty disappointed. Been ordering the same items for over a year and now I have to be charged more for sauce on the side. No where does it say that on the menu.
I ordered take out once and had lunch inside today. Good customer service and delicious sushi rolls. The fried Oreos are yummy too!
I absolutely love the service at this place! They are quick to get your food, refill waters and make you feel welcomed. Lunch time is the best time to go to get the best bang for your buck and I would recommend the roll+sushi deal 💓
Food, service, and atmosphere are all very good. It is a nice place to take a date.
The food here is great. Very tasty and nice size helpings. Not too pricey for what you get.
The sashimi and ponzu starter plate is absolutely delicious. We also had the red curry and the Kin roll. Hands down the best curry we've found in SA.
Arrived just before closing...ordered food to take out. Good Thai.
Not a fan, really low cleaning grade.
KIN Thai is our new favorite spot. The panang curry is amazing! The lunch menu is great, too!!
I received an incorrect order but ate in any way. Food is OK ish. Service leaves a lot to be desired
Ordered beef pad thai and chix panang curry to go. Received beef fried rice and veggie curry but we ate it anyway. No soup with the lunch special. Beef Fried rice was only OK. Curry was good. Service leaves a lot to be desired. Probably won't go back.
Me gusto 🤗😋
Really good lunch specials. Food was good, friendly staff
I thoroughly enjoyed dinning at this restaurant
Order the yum nea (thai beef salad). It was VERY delicious and ranked in my top 2 spots for this dish! Lots of flavor & portions. Could definately taste the cilantro & lime too. Definately recommend! 👌🏽
I've been wanting to try this place for a bit and was not disappointed. The sushi was great, the staff was super friendly and it was a very chill spot. We got there right when it opened and it filled up fast. We got salmon, crab, and octopus nigiri and the spicy tuna roll, rainbow roll, and poke roll.
Chill atmosphere with good food and courteous service. Nice spot for a lunch break or dinner.
Very good sushi and spring rolls
Sushi is really great! Fresh spring rolls lacked veggies. Mostly rice noodles.
Great service and great food.
Excellent
February 2023:
Many had the same idea to have dinner @kinonbulverde tonight as the front area was full of people waiting. Thankfully the wait wasn't too long.
Dad had their fresh Lemonade, my husband had Thai Iced Tea and I had the draft Kirin Ichiban. We started with Thai Spring Rolls, Shrimp Tempura and Sashimi Salad with spicy sauce on the side. For the main entrée we had the Golden Pompano with tamarind sauce and Pineapple Fried Rice with shrimp. I don't think we've ever had a bad meal here. So much good food! And so much leftover too!
@kinonbulverde is part of the SA Restaurant Gold Diner's Program and we used the 10% off the total bill!
Check it out if you haven't stopped by yet!
August 2022:
It was a mix of Japanese and Thai for dinner tonight @kinonbulverde.
Dad had the Pink Lemonade, my husband had the King Crush and I had the Asian Sangria. We started off with the Spicy Sashimi Salad and Tempura Shrimp. Both are great deals for the quality and quantity for the price. We had the Grilled Pompano with the tamarind sauce and the Pineapple Fried Rice with shrimp. Great food and great service!
Come check them out!
April 2022: Beautiful Sunday to enjoy @kinonbulverde patio!
We were so full from the food and had leftovers to take home. We started off with the Kin spring rolls and Salmon tower. My husband had a Kirin Ichiban Light and I had a Sake Sunrise. We had the chicken and jasmine rice, chirashi Don, Kin poke bowl, tamago sashimi, salmon sashimi, eel sashimi and yellowtail sashimi. We've never been disappointed with the food here and really enjoy the outdoor seating. We've had the Thai dishes here before but didn't have it this time. Equally great!
Check it out soon!
It was quite busy on a Friday night. We got there before the evening rush. Tried the Kin spring rolls, tipsy noodles, and pork belly with Chinese broccoli. Everything came out fairly quickly, considering the number of orders. I enjoyed my noodles and spring rolls. My friend liked the pork but wanted it to be crisper. The portions are moderate and just enough, so you are full but not uncomfortable. Good spot for some Thai food.
Very good food and reasonable prices. Took a minute for someone to take our order, but the food came out quick and was delicious. Would definitely come back.
