Fiery fare & a BYO policy are the main attractions at this basic, hidden-away Thai spot.
Extremely consistent Thai food with some great flavor. I have tried various dishes and all of them have been great. Their soups are excellent and the pad Thai is always a favorite. Chicken Larb is a lighter classic and you can never go wrong with any of the curries.
Make sure you tell them how hot you want it. They will not make it spicy if you don’t tell them to.
Average Thai restaurant. Food tasted good. But the service was disappointing. The waitress was not so co-operative to explain the dish. She was super annoyed with the questions while taking the order. Don’t know why. Location and ambience was little iffy. I ordered Pad See Ewe. Some stir fired flat noodles with pork. Didn’t taste like authentic Thai dish but tasted good.
Let me start by saying my 1st GF was thai and we spent a month in Thailand. Her best friend owned a thai restaurant so I am spoiled when it comes to authentic thai food.
1. Ordered Chicken satay which is grilled in a delicious sauce and served with a onion, cucumber sauce and peanut sauce. They brought out deep fried chicken satay. I don't eat seed oils for many, many health reasons.
2. My friend ordered a seafood dish with squid, shrimp and fish. The steps squid was surprise chewy which you know that means it's under cooked, the shrimp were okay and the fish was fishy tasting.
They did take the chicken satay and the seafood dish off the bill so that's why I'm giving them a 2.
I ordered the panang chicken curry which was okay, my son ordered the pad ka pow with beef, his was tasty.
The server didn't smile once and no manager came over to offer an apology. So cute these several reasons I have them a 2.
I was super surprised when I realized there was a Thai restaurant here, it is hidden in a small strip so I didn't know. The place is so spacious and has a lot of upgrades, it could use some more upgrades but it's a little quaint restaurants. Our appetizers came out super fast and they were delicious, had so much flavors! The entrees came out almost right behind them and they were so yummy! The serve good portions on their plates. I definitely recommend this spot!
Pad Kee Mao was delicious and had large yummy shrimps! The basil fried rice had great basil flavor but was very clumpy. Tasted almost like it had too much water and was cooked like a paella rather than stir fried. Unfortunately no desserts available and they were out of mango salad. The mango salad must have been popular!
Don't let the rough exterior fool you . The food is amazing .

forever a favorite.
Been there many times, the food never disappoints. Plaa Pad Ped is a favorite and best in Houston, and that is coming from a Thai native. Also the Yam Woon Sen is very delicious. Servers could be a little more friendly but are good.
Absolutely love this hidden gem
Haven't been here in about 15 years as it's out of the way for me, but stopped here while I was in the neighborhood and have to say it's no longer the great Thai restaurant it used to be. Meh, not worth the drive with so many superior Thai options closer to me.
We went here and had the Ginger chicken , pepper steak and the chicken pad Thai. All very very bland and portions size for pepper steak was very small . The ginger chicken had an overpowering ginger taste . The steamed rice seemed old and didn’t taste great . We also had crispy spring rolls and cheese rolls
appetizer . Spring rolls were over done and the cheese rolls were okay .
Not the best Thai food I’ve had . For sure very bland .
Such a hidden gem! The best Thai food I've ever had. They are always extremely quick and efficient.
Many good Thai food dishes & the servers don't need to ask spicy level as in any other Thai places 😆.
Waiteresa had an indifferent attitude, not pleasant at all!
Good authentic Thai food
By far the best Thai restaurant in Houston! The service, food and atmosphere here is always top notch which is why I am a repeat customer. It is by no means "fancy", but if you care about great food, you wouldn't worry about the ambience. Their menu is extensive and authentic while their service is simple and super friendly. They have a large vegetarian friendly section in their menu, which is great. Overall, if you are looking for a fantastic, authentic, no-frills Thai restaurant, this is absolutely your spot!
The food was great. The place is not high end, but the service and the food surpassed our expectations in regards of flavor, portions and variety. It’s a proverbial hole in the wall. We loved it!
Hole in the wall with truly flavorful food that will inspire you to day, “holy moly this is my new go to for to go Thai”.
One of the best Thai spots in Houston!
Still the best
Excellent Thai food our go to
Smallest dinner portions. The food is really delicious and authentic but probably wouldn’t come back
I love this place, especially Ms. JENNY, always so kind, caring, and welcoming!
The food was great!! My chicken thai fried rice was absolutely amazing. My bf got the pad thai and i wasn’t the biggest fan, but he inhaled it lol. I would recommend this place! Definitely a hidden gem!!
We been came to this place years because Boat Noodles good but from now on no more , the food doesn’t good like before and even customers service still bad, they never change. We not finished the food yet but she already brought the bill 😏
Bad pad thai tastes just like sugar and didn’t come with peanuts or pepper. Also service isn’t great waitress lied about refills being free for Thai tea.
an absolute gem of a place. The food is unbelievably good and the best Thai in the area. I’m so glad I found it.
My husband is notoriously picky about Thai food. So many places we’ve gone either overcharge for basic entrees or cut corners with ingredients (subbing ketchup for tamarind).
We placed our order for pickup and the service was quite fast. By the time we drove there (15 minutes) it was ready to go.
The food was delicious! The Pad See Ew was less sweet and more on the savory side 👍🏽; the Pad Thai was the perfect flavor💖! (No ketchup!)
This spot is very unassuming. The perfect neighborhood Thai restaurant.
Food was excellent but service not so good! Restaurant is busy but not much of an ambience.
Love this local gem
I actually ended up here because a barista from Slowpokes (down the street on Long Point) recommended it. The vibe is super chill, even though it's a bit of a hidden gem. I loved it so much that I brought my entire office crew. Warning the spice was even too spicy for my Mexican family. All in all, the food is amazing and I'll definitely be back here many times in the future.
Really good food, friendly staff, this is a bybo establishment which is a plus!! The Thai tea is so good!!
First time visitor today.
Excellent service and friendly atmosphere.
Had the chicken/vegetable/noodle plate (i think it was N-3).
Just the right amount of 'hotness' and a very generous portion for the price.
Will definately return!
The Thai food was okay here but not great. The pad thai was very sweet and the curry was separating a bit between the coconut milk and curry. The staff are nice and bring food out quickly. The parking here is pretty tight so the restaurant puts out traffic cones in spots in front of the restaurant. You can move a cone to park in front of the restaurant. If you're in the area, it's not a bad choice for the price but it isn't outstanding Thai food.
We were on vacation and looking to eat something quick and fairly close to our hotel. This restaurant popped up on Google so we stopped in to try it. We had eaten at several places during our stay in Houston and this was by far the best restaurant we tried. The outside does not look like much, but the interior is comforting and homey. Everything was clean and thoughtfully arranged. They had a very large menu and we decided on Veggie Spring Rolls, Combination Pad Thai, and Chicken Fried Rice. The food was delicious and you could tell everything was fresh and homemade. It was beautifully plated and just perfection. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I wish that we were staying in the area longer because I would have visited again multiple times. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys authentic and delicious food
This was my first time there. The green curry was excellent. I also loved it had a touch of spice without being overpowering. The price of the lunch was reasonable.
The service was great. It's a hole in the wall but the food was outstanding. I would definitely recommend this place.
Legit Thai food. Absolutely delicious every time.
Overall the food is pretty authentic. We selected dishes that were very Cantonese. Very fresh & price is reasonable.
Family favorite. Always delicious and friendly service.
Great place. The portions are big and the quality of the food is amazing. Love the Thai fried rice and the Pad Thai.
My husband and I are regular here. The food here was absolutely delicious! The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. I heard the landlord went up the rent so that’s why you see their prices went up as well. But the foods made up for it. We can't wait to come back!”
This place is trash. I found out about this place in my social media "tik tok." The food has no flavor it has msg flavoring. If you into
m s g this you're spot. 🫣 🤮 I'm completely disgusted.I I'm not the one to put bad reviews out there, but when they're that bad, it gives me no other Options. I'm trying to save as many people as I can.
We placed a group order of about 15 dishes for lunch time and I'm pleased to say everything was correct and everything tasted amazing! Nothing but good reviews of the food here and the service was prompt!
One of the better Thai restaurants for fast service and good food.
I moved over to the west side of Houston a few months back, and I find myself in here at least once every few weeks. VERY good curry and the people are very kind. This hidden gem is worth the detour for some good thai food.
Tried this for the first (and last) time yesterday (July 2023)
It came highly recommended but the food was 3/10.
The $15 family style shared dishes were extremely small for the price. Overall price for four people ordering four dishes to share was $72. Probably worth $30 to $40 IMO.
Service was 2/10. The lady came a few times and was annoyed when we were not ready to order. At the end she came a picked up our cups before we even left the table. "Time to go" was here demeanor even though the restaurant was not full and no one was waiting for a table.
The ambiance was eclectic. Lots of Thai religious statues and a random couch in the corner for no apparent reason. Random art all over with no design language. Some of it looked like it was made by kids. They also had lots of extra stone facade material they used to cover the exterior so they used it to cover everything they could inside. Very interesting.
Pros: The taste and spice of the curry was fantastic.
Cons: flies everywhere inside, food was extremely oily, one bowl of rice for 2 people
Servings are small, pricey and authentic.
I started coming here in 2007. Veng Thai offers authentic Thai cuisine with bold colors, flavors & spices, with just the right amount of spicyness & heat. They don't offer desserts nor do they have a large selection of beverages but rather a few choices of canned sodas. Also, the hostess & waitresses aren't very friendly but they make up for this with good food. The place is quaint, with a cozy atmosphere. The overall temperature in the restaurant was a little warm for my personal preference. The meal sizes are somewhat disproportionate to their prices (Smaller size portions for the amount of money they charge in comparison to other Chinese/Vietnamese/Thai/Etc restaurants)
We ordered the seafood soup & green chicken curry. The curry was excellent!
This was a very unassuming hole in the wall that ended up being legit Thai food. Weekday lunch service was super fast with very authentic flavors. We had the green curry and pad see ew. Fair warning the green curry was very spicy but delicious, almost a tad too spicy for my tastes.
This made for a great business lunch as we were able to get our food and bill within 15 minutes of being seated. Don't be intimidated by the facade, it's a hidden gem!
The pad thai & drunken noodles are some of my favorite dishes here! They always get it right.
Some of the best Thai food in all of Houston
Food isnt consistent and quality has really gone down while the prices go up. It's just ok. Byob is probably the biggest sell for going here.
Something has changed. The food no where near tastes as good as it used to. The spring rolls and shrimp wrap total different recipe. They taste like Sam's special thawed and fried not fresh made. The green curry was good different than before but still good. I do not remember it being as oily though. Food tastes like a change in chef. Parking is tight and not ample during weekday
Spent $45.54 (very tiny ) an order of soft spring rolls --- phad Se Ewe (burnt) and a very small portion Tom Yum coconut Soup with terribly sour coconut milk ( wasted ($11.99) green curry with green beans(very small portions ) there again small portions except for the white rice ( too much )
There was nothing I could forgive too patronize this joint again
:-)
Truly a hidden gem of a "hole in the wall" restaurant. Don't let the location turn you off. Once inside, you'll be glad you came. My food was delicious and the staff were very friendly and accommodating
This is one of the best Thai restaurants I’ve tried in Houston/Spring Branch. The food has so much flavor, good heat, and is fresh. The service is also really fast. Highly recommend if you’re a fan of Thai food- the spicy basil fried rice is delicious and so are all of the curry and noodle dishes.
Still my favorite Thai place!
Good food and service
Excellent
Food is delicious! I’ve tried so many different things and it never disappoints. Affordable and the portions are big. I recommend the drunken noodles, curry, and stir fried sweet chili paste, and pad Thai! All good options. Do not recommend the wings. They are good but it’s just plain fried chicken and sweet and sour sauce.
Amazing. Best thai in town
Great Thai food, Authentic. Bring your own wine or beer.
First time here..have to say outside looks like a hole in the wall but man the food is amazing. I could not decide between Garlic or Ginger Chicken. I chose Ginger Chicken ❤️ I came with white rice. It was seasoned well look forward to coming back to do the Garlic Chicken. Highly recommend
Great food, adequate service, obnoxious parking
This is my second visit and I wonder why I don’t come here more often! It’s a delightful place that will surprise you considering the location. Excellent food for a good price and the food comes quick! If you like legit Thai food this is worth the trip to spring branch. You won’t regret it!
The Worst Pad Thai I ever Tasted, and I was a Pad Thai lover over 10 years
The food was delicious! Definitely felt like home, and hit the spot. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Would come back again
Absolute worst in Houston. No one working in the store was Asian. Waste of money. Do not go here if you like Thai food. This was horrible! I had two shrimp dishes and both were over cooked and edible. I will never eat here again!
Great service ,reasonable prices ,my dish was really good also it is Byob .....
Small, cute, family owned business, the food is fantastic, you will not be disappointed. Every dish at this establishment is full of flavor and done well with a spicy kick. Tip: Make sure you arrive enough time as they close on time everyday about 15-30 minutes before closing time. They allow BYOB! :)
May be 4.5 stars !!
Dishes were great. Red curry was spicy.
Thai fried rice was delicious and had unique taste.
Was doubtful about the atmosphere, but it was really good. Pleasant.
(+1$ increase in their Menu).
Really good Thai food with excellent service and great atmosphere
This Thai food was very good..We are very satisfied.
Great flavorful food. We will be back!
Great food quality.
Food was great and definitely I will come back here.
We had the Thai omelette, green curry, soft spring rolls, and Thai iced tea. The omelette was so tasty (doesn't come spicy), and the green curry was awesome (very spicy). Would definitely return soon and multiple times!
authentic Thai noodles Will definitely visit again when in area
Nice establishment with good food.
Awesome food idk if u can still bring ur own drinks if u can 👍👍
Love it
So yummy!
Went up there at 7:55 because the Google site says it closes at 9:30. Well I get there and one of the workers was rude as hell and said we close at 8:00. Not going back there lol first impressions are everything.
Amazing food and quality! Fresh, authentic dishes that come out hot and delicious EVERY SINGLE TIME! We come at least 3, 4 times a month. Don't let the little strip mall storefront fool you. This is top tier Thai food.
Excellent food.
Ten years later. I keep coming back. Damn good food and service. Humble place and people.
Great authentic Thai food. Dive restaurant. Great Prices. BYOB.
Been here dozens and dozens of times. By far the best Thai food in Houston. Have had almost everything on the menu. My favorite meal here is Tom Yum and Sum Tum to start. Followed with, panang curry, pad prik king (pork), pad ke Mao (chicken) and if more folks are around then .. fish nuggets or curry and pad Thai. If more adventurous on flavor .. the eggplant.
Omg their curry is seriously the best.... the green curry is spicy but you just can't stop! The masaman curry is absolutely perfect and not spicy, and the eggplant plate is sooo tasty!
The entrees were $13.99 each and the portions were regular. Not sure why takeout is so expensive
We had the panaeng curry and chicken satay which were both tasty, but were not as spicy or as bold-flavored as we prefer. The portion was also a little small, but this is a solid Thai restaurant
Restaurant closes at 8pm says the manager who came out to perform a dance while chanting “We’re closed” in the most humiliating taunting manner. This was one of the most distasteful experience I’ve ever endured, while simply attempting to nurture my friend and I. I called the restaurant and received “We’re closed” from the other end, I stated that google reflected another time(9:30pm) and was told “Don’t look at google” to my surprise. I was also informed that the restaurant has been closing at 8pm for the past 3 years. We arrived at 8:47pm and were denied service… Well we were served a plethora of unapologetic rudeness. I share my review saddened and disappointed, in hopes to save you time and gas.
Pssst… I took this photo as I pulled away for time stamp, but the cheerleader darted inside to avoid being photographed leaving the door open.
Best Thai fried rice in the city! You may want to order two (you won’t want to share)!… The soups and curries are also good. Service is great. Nice place to have a business lunch.
Arguably the best Thai food in Houston.
A nice low key place to have great Thai food.
Visted this restaurant over 5 years ago and remembered how great the service and food was! Finally moved back to the area recently and the food and service are STILL EXCELLENT!! Food comes out super fast after ordering, servers are nice, and ambience is superb. I definitely recommend visiting if you’re looking for a cozy place to enjoy some authentic Thai food 🤌🏼
Food was good small and quant.
Service sucks….website says closes at 9 and they closed at 8. Rushed our order and couldn’t wait to get us out of there within 40 minutes
Rushed to clear table as we are still eating and then handed us bill and wanted it back so quickly.
Very disgusting place! Zero flavor foods. Do not go here!!!!!
The food here is great, spicy and tastes delicious. My favourite thing to order is the drunken noodles. But generally everything we order here is good. The ratio of meat to gravy in the curries is lacking and for the price you pay I would expect more.
rude service mad at me for being there we got there at 730 waitress threw menus at us and said rudely we close at 8 lie were crazy for being there so late at 730. I use to love this place but so rude to my family and friends we will never go back sux I muss thai food
The food wasn't very good. Kinda bland for Thai then I get a $26 dollars for 2 spring rolls, a bowl of chicken curry and a glass of tea. I won't come here again.
This place is not good anymore. the more i go the more horrible.they use to have the BEST noodle soup.and all the food very good. sometime the noodle soup taste like boiled water . last 4 visited getting horrible.food never stable .i think its depend of the mood of chef
Excellent food and service. Nice decor inside
This place was awesome! food delicious(🥳 in my mouth) service was very personal. The best fish cakes I've ever had.. I can't wait to come back!
Update:
Returned 12/4/21 and was not as enthusiastic about this place. Small portions, even on large soup which wasn't hot when served. They charged extra for egg on Pad Thai, which always has egg. Won't return.
The food here is REALLY good! Don't worry about the appearances.
Over-priced for no reason. Called for take-out. Firstly, charged 2$-3$ more for each item more than quoted on the menu (update your online or website menu to match inflation). Secondly, there was not much quality or quantity to justify the price (An Asian restaurant screwing up rice? starchy and soggy end product).
Cashew chicken was good. The restaurant was friendly at pick up time. Location was a little industrial.
One of my all time favorite Thai restaurants. I am so glad I found this place!!
Food was ok, but portions could be a little higher and price could be a little lower
Food is not bad but they do not update their schedule. I have no idea when they open or close.
Our favorite SB Tai food. Definitely a hole-in-the-wall … but the service is always as good as the food.
Great place for thai food! We tried the massaman curry and a pork dish. The curry was great and had a really good flavor. The pork dish was really good. We enjoyed everything! Definitely a place to go if your looking for authentic thai food.
3 stars on quality. 2 stars on cost:performance.
Prices view google differ significantly than actual. More expensive in store.
One of Houston's hidden gems. Delicious food and very nice people working there!! 😊 One of my favorite spots.
No lunch specials. Not asked what spice level desired. Tea aloud to run low with only four tables of customers. Ground chicken not sliced white meat or even asked what I desired. Portion size was like a lunch plate without the soup or spring roll. I actually gave it another shot just to see if my experience was better and it was not. The only good thing is the tea and they don't close at 2:00PM like many Thai restaurants. The green beans in the meal were over cooked and the spice level was too high. I will not be back. 12.95 plus the cost of tea and the tip was over 20.00 and that is too much for lunch. With only four tables at 1:00PM shows they don't believe in more customers at a fair price is better than less customers at a higher price. Lunch specials establish the quality of both the food and the service to entice the customer to return. To purposely avoid a lunch special all together tells customers to go somewhere else.
Excellent food. been going here for 20 yrs. we drove an hour to go. Best Thai food.
Is BYOB and in old rundown strip center, but the food is Classic! If you know and love Thai food, you will love it.
Great authentic flavorful. Really like this hidden gem.
