Quaint Thai cafe featuring an ample menu of familiar dishes in a colorful, pared-down setting.
What an amazing place! Went here on a date night and absolutely loved the cozy ambiance and white tablecloths. Staff was attentive and kind, and our server Peach was amazing!! The food was delicious, we got the Tom Kha soup (BEST EVER), the Spicy Basil chicken and the panang curry. We will absolutely be back!!
This is beyond your normal hidden restaurant. At first glance from the outside you would never guess how elegant and outstanding the food and atmosphere is. I could not give enough stars to how impressed and overly excited to know I have my new favorite Thai restaurant. This place just took me by suprise in so many ways. Hands down will recommend to so many it's worth trying.
Great atmosphere. Good food. Their beef salad has more than just lettuce and cucumbers. They added micro greens to it. Very lovely, tasty, and healthy! Tom Kha was also fragrant. Warning, though... The kitchen staff are Thai. If you're not up to Thai style hot, stay with only three or four stars spicy levels. They really mean it when it comes to spiciness.
Amazing Thai food with cozy and warm ambiance. Tried their red curry, green curry, garlic vegetable, Panang curry and papaya salad. Everything came out good but red curry is the best. Service is quick and courteous. Lot of vegetarian option is add on. Good place for nice family fine dining.
One of the best meals I've had. Period.
Thai opal gives an elegant feel while providing excellent service. A great spot for a date night.
The Thai Iced Tea and Spicy Peanut plate were delicious. Their fried rice is at the top of my list now. Overall, a wonderful experience. I didn't take enough pictures, but the peanut sauce accompanying these Shrimp Summer Rolls was delicious. Compliments to the chef.
This place is amazing, the food and the atmosphere are nice.
We enjoyed a delicious family dinner! If you are looking for authentic Thai food, this is your spot.

This is my first time for Thai food! Delicious Tom kha soup and Pad see ew. Thank you for the recommendation! Friendly and good service(Peach)
Eating their food from Uber eats right now, totally disgusting. Worst pad Thai ever
Food was absolutely excellent. Wonderful portion size. We had a young gentleman as our server and he was extremely professional. We appreciated the professionalism and attention to detail. Beautiful restaurant. Five stars PLUS!
I love that Thai Opal is our local place for Thai food. The food is excellent, as is the service. Great place for a quiet meal or for take out.
Excelente servicio y comida deliciosa
It’s just not very good…. I ordered the beef pad see eaw with medium spice. Spice level was definitely not a 3, it was a 1.
The vegetables and beef were not tender at all. Very rubbery. I felt like I was fed a microwave frozen dinner. The flavor wasn’t lacking at all, but it tasted like food that was prepped last week, dished into portions, and frozen until heated for consumption. Noodles were greasy and cold in the middle. Veggies and beef felt stretchy and watery. This is not restaurant quality, this is what I do when I am meal planning. I just don’t think this place serves food with quality above what you can cook at home.
I cook often and can look past the food quality when I’m at home (I’ll eat reheated meat, veggies, and noodles any day to save money), but I don’t want to go out and spend my money to eat something that tastes like leftovers.
Omg I had the baisel fried rice level3 it was so good and hot fresh and they give u a lot that fills u up very nice people also and there treat every the same it’s a great quit place to go eat small and cozy clean very relaxing
Delicious food, great friend and wonderful atmosphere!
Most expensive curry I’ve ever bought.
One of the best meals I've had. Period.

Really cozy spot with great food. The spicy eggplant was phenomenal. Service was great as well.
Thai Opal used to be my go-to place for scrumptious Thai food. Unfortunately, I had not been there in awhile, so I stopped in for lunch last week. First of all, I was amazed to see that I was the ONLY soul in the place at 12:00 noon. During the entire time I was there, maybe two people came in to pick up to-go orders. No other diners came in.
Now.....the food was every bit as delicious as it had ever been. I got the sauteed edamame app and the yellow curry and both were divine. The service was adequate.
Herein I think lies the problem: they used to have a lunch menu with competitive prices and it had a good variety of dishes to choose from, most accompanied by soup and/or egg roll. I asked the server if they still had a lunch menu and he said no. The prices I thought were pretty high for a lunch meal, and this could be why there is no one there at lunch.
I hope they read this review and take my suggestion of reinstating their lunch menu with appropriate prices. It's just too good of a restaurant to have no lunch traffic!!
Lovely family owned business filled with charm. The food is consistently wonderful filled with excellent flavor. We consistently order the appetizer chicken satay with peanut sauce that is spectacular followed by any of the main dishes that are always favorable and freshly made to order. Thank you Thai Opel and we look forward to dinner with you again in the very near future!
Turned us away after asking us to wait.
I love Thai Opal!! It is consistently delicious. The restaurant is clean and the servers are very polite. The owner, Susan, is a gem. My favorite dish is the Thai opal chicken fried rice with fried chicken - yum!!
I ordered the Chicken and shrimp pad see ew. The eggs and sauce tasted burned. The chicken was very dry and there was way too much sauce, possibly to try to cover the dry chicken. I also got the Thai tea and it was super bitter and not drinkable. I have dined in and ordered here many times before and never had this issue. This meal was very off-putting.
Great service and flavorful food 👌
I live 5 mins away from this place and have referred at least 10 people to try it out. They are getting a 1 star for service this past Sunday I had a friend name Angela pick up a crab fried rice meal which is $25 (I always order this meal btw) due to being sick. When I got it there was no crab at all (the cook forgot to add it). Had my friend call but the young man hung up so she then goes there. The young man brings it to the kitchen, the woman refused to remake saying she would lose out on $30 and that there was crab on the plate when she made it but chose to refund my money! I will try my best to not support this place again. Check your food before leaving because they don’t believe you when there is an issue with your food!
their green curry warmed my soul
The wait was long for the food, but they sat us immediately (used Google reservation) and the wait was worth it!! Delicious and had to be some of the best Pad Kee Mow I’ve ever had. The spice level 3 was HOT so be aware of spice level for this dish. My brother got a 4 for the pad Thai and it wasn’t spicy to me!
Solid place for dinner. The food is really good, the service was on point and the atmosphere was really good. Quiet place for dinner when we were there. "Susan," the owner is great!
Sadly we expecting something great with the 4.4 star reviews, but the service was slow, the food lacked spice when we asked for it, the food lacked meat when we paid extra for it. The Mongolian beef was all vegetables. The pad Thai had 3-4 pieces of chicken:( The service was slow initially, when we were the only people in the place. Would not recommend for the price. This place is very expensive, then charges to add meat :(
Delicious Thai food, very attentive service and cozy ambiance! I highly recommend.
Shrimp Pad Thai is fabulous. Large portion which easily makes second meal
I am new to Thai food so I get the same each time and love it. I will try other dishes sometime but I'm a creature of habit.
Somehow, they cannot tell the difference between fried and steamed rice. I called to try and make it right and they just suggested i call Uber eats, as of it were the fault of the driver...
Absolutely delicious! Best Thai food I have had in years- definitely a hidden treasure! Quiet, peaceful atmosphere, with soothing music. Incredible flavor, romantic ambiance and wonderful service :) and my husband loved the sticky mango rice!
They have the BEST fried rice in Dallas
Very romantic obviance atmosphere. Classy music in the backgound. Above average waiter service. Perfect spot for a romantic date without hitting the pocketbook.
I was a returning customer after having a pretty decent duck curry and appetizers before hand.
This time however, the soup contained no cheese but smell like moldy cheese. Also the chicken, in the soup, was tougher than i even knew possible. Pad thai comes with tofu even if you get a different protein. The duck curry also smelled like moldy cheese without any cheese involved.
The server was sweet and deserving of the 20% but when I requested limes for my sparkling water the owner walked from the back to the bar in full view with them in his bare hand as if that is a normal hygienic thing to do? 2 mins later he is handling money? Just dirty. Super disappointed. Hate leaving a bad review but you can't get better if you don't know. Sorry guys.
Food was very good and portions were big. My litmus test for thai restaurants is the Crab Rangoon. Their’s is the best I have ever had. Crispy throughout, generous filling and the sauce that accompanied was on point. Entrees were hot and did not disappoint. The atmosphere is cozy and elegant. Would come back and eat again!
Great food. Food is bit different than usual thai restaurants-> like I ordered fried rice with fried chicken and they tossed bunch of yummy fried chicken on top of fried rice.
Food is really delicious. This is certainly one of my favorite Thai restaurant in Dallas along with Malia kitchen.
Assamn curry was really good, as was the mango sticky rice. The chicken satay was also good, but the individual skewers were pretty small (2 are pictured, oder comes with 4). There was only one server when we went, so it took a bit longer to order and ger our food. The restaurant was also sort of warm inside, but it wasn't too bad.
They do things in a big way even though its inexpensive and has good food.
Lovely atmosphere, good food. Staff was delightful
The best Thai food in Dallas,
Crab Rangoon is fantastic 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Excellent service and very clean place ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This is beyond your normal hidden restaurant. At first glance from the outside you would never guess how elegant and outstanding the food and atmosphere is. I eat Thai on a regular basis and love to try new restaurants. I always get pad se ew, and was excited to try Thai Opal. I was extremely disappointed however. The food was so bland & didn’t taste like anything. I don’t think I’d ever come back.
I'm just a born and raised Texan who likes yellow curry. There's tons of places around DFW to try and I only went to Thai Opal because I was house sitting nearby. But they sure hit the spot. If I'm in the area and in the mood for Thai, I will definitely come back. The inside of the restaurant is very nice too.
A gem! Excellent food, cozy atmosphere with homey touches to sit and soak up, very nice staff, reasonably priced!
The food is delicious and the owner is a super nice lady. Me and my Coworker love coming here
Food and service are always great
And the kids love the mango sticky rice
Great atmosphere. Good food. Their beef salad has more than just lettuce and cucumbers. They added micro greens to it. Very lovely, tasty, and healthy! Tom Kha was also fragrant. Warning, though... I try various Thai restaurants around Dallas, and I always get the pad se ewe with chicken. When I first found this spot, I thought it was the best pad se ewe I had in all of Dallas below $20/plate. (I've never tried any more expensive Thai, if it exists) Each rice noodle had wavy edges and stood out, tall & proud on the plate, as if to say, "pick me, pick me! and don't forget to pick a carrot or broccoli for your bite, too!" In other words, the noodles were not stuck together. I also noticed the dish had a toasted nutty flavor as if the noodles were briefly fried in sesame oil, or maybe it's just an ingredient. Lately, however, they have a young man waiting tables who seems like a nice guy - I wouldn't want to see him get canned over my review - I just think maybe his English isn't that good? I asked for #3 spicy and the plate came out with no spice at all. I was able to request and stir in some spicy sauce myself, though it wasn't as good this way. While the pad se ewe hasn't been as good lately, the veggies are always fresh. I wonder if they have different cooks on different times/days. I like the atmosphere or ambience to the place. It's kinda dark & private. The decor reminds me of my grandma's house - if only she was Thai. It's never super busy at lunch time so it's quiet and you get attentive service.
I honestly don’t know how this restaurant has great reviews. Those people probably think McDonalds is 5 star gourmet food. Thai tea was so watered down that it felt like I was just drinking brown water. On top of that, the pad Thai lacked flavor. I tried making making pad Thai because I love it(turned out bad) but at least it tasted better than the pad Thai here. I promise you that if you give me a recipe and $30 I’ll make pad Thai better than here, period.
Most authentic thia food I had. Went to Thailand and had the mango and sweet rice. it's may favorite ever. food is a little spicy and service is a little slow. perfect place for great food, kind employees and a great conversation with the company you came with. I will be returning to this place anytime I come to Dallas.
They refuse to get to go orders ready on time
I recently ordered from Thai Opal via Uber Eats and was thoroughly impressed with my experience. I tried the Fried Chicken Spring Roll and the Spicy Basil, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. The spring rolls were crispy and full of flavor, and the spicy basil was the perfect level of heat. The food was delivered promptly and was still hot when it arrived.
I would highly recommend Thai Opal to anyone in the Dallas area looking for delicious Thai food. The restaurant's menu has a great variety of options, and the food is always fresh and flavorful. The service through Uber Eats was also top-notch, making the whole process quick and convenient. I will definitely be ordering from Thai Opal again in the future.
One of my all time favorite restaurants! Everything that is served here is delicious and the staff is always amazing!
There was string in my food so I sent it back and they still charged me for it.
HORRIBLE SERVICE
Pretty good but spice level inconsistent. I love spicy but one order we got two level 3 spicy dishes like we normally do and we literally were suffering and had to wait for it to be completely cold. Definitely good thai flavor but my go to is Ka Thai now.
Excellent food and excellent service!!! We love this place and it's BYOB!!
Charming and impeccable service. Equisite food. Tasteful and sophisticated decor with soft lighting and thoughtful touches Genuinely nice people. We're just delighted to have found this little gem in our neighborhood. A perfect place for date night.
My favorite place to eat thai. The staff is always nice. Can update the interior always feels like I'm going to my great great grandma house. The deigns don't match the food and staff . To stuffy.
The staff are very nice and the place is nice … but the sticky rice was very hard and old. The larb chicken had a spoiled taste.
Coming to you live from the locked door of my favorite restaurant:
Despite the hours listed on Google and the official restaurant website, they are NOT open during lunch hours on Tuesday.
Food is great! Spice level can be inconsistent so be careful ;)
I wouldn’t recommend.
I will not return.
Don't order through ubereaats. Got a pad see ew that I had selected "very spicy" for and it was the most bland pad see ew I've ever had, just tastes like noodles and chicken, nothing else, good portion though.
There's another review that mentions the same. They must not read or get any specifics about the order when ordering through ubereats.
I honestly like this place. Foods actually really good and decent pricing. Staffs nice and professional as well, I’d recommend
Use to be my favorite thai place but I order pick up from them and the food leaked all over the bag, when I pick it up to carry inside all the food fell on the floor and I tried calling Thai Opal and the phone was disconnected. Never coming back unless they can make this right.
It tastes so good I wanted to die
Food is delicious. Customer service is beyond reproach. Spicy basil chicken is amazing as well as their soups.
Tried other Thai places and they can't compare.
Ordered thru uber eats. They did not sent fried rice that I paid for. They ignored all of my requests, utensils extra sauce. Also the massuman curry was way too sweet. Needed a diet coke just to get down. Never go back, and do not order thru uber because they don't read instructions.
Food was amazing
It’s cute little Thai restaurant spot here. The inside has sweet Fancy-ness to it. Food is tasty and good portions.
very romantic place to have dinner . I ordered combination friend rice n soup and I give it 10/10 .
The place looked, smelled and felt clean... The food was good and so was the service. Hit all the check boxes for me.
Went inside to order food. Manager was screaming and shouting at servers because something dropped. Very unprofessional.
This is a hidden gem restaurant. The food was delicious and had great presentation. Perfect place to take family or just to have a great meal.
Very beautiful restaurant. I love how small and compact it is, the servers are very friendly and I think I have found a new place for a regular date night with my wife. So glad I found this place, it's really a nice little spot that has a great air of comfort to it with fine dining.
Very impressed.
We ordered the yellow curry, massaman curry, and chicken satay as take out. I’m not a professional foodie but I’ve had Thai curries from many different places. Here are our thoughts:
YELLOW & MASSAMAN CURRY
We don’t like spicy food so we asked for mild spice, and it wasn’t too spicy at all. The yellow curry had a little more kick at the end than the massaman. The consistency of these curries was thinner, more soupier than others I’ve had. Each serving came with about a quart of curry and about a cup of cooked rice.
CHICKEN SATAY
This came with four skewers of grilled chicken about 5”x1.5” each, a vegetable relish, and a peanut sauce. We thought it was very tasty, but I would have loved a slightly larger serving of the peanut sauce.
used to love this place and ordered frequently. not sure what is going on lately but received absolutely terrible service. ordered a thai iced coffee and spicy peanut sauce with chicken, with no bean sprouts. my order shows up with no utensils, the straw was dirty already even tho it was in a separate bag from the drink and the chicken had bean sprouts all in it. i called they offered a remake but then said the driver was out so i would have to pick it up. Not being able to do that atm i declined and asked for a refund instead. was put on with a manager who asked what was going on and apologized and said they would refund only the coffee... so i ask so im stuck sitting here with an expensive meal im not going to eat? strangely then agreed to a refund and said she was sending someone to get the food???? so you can send someone to pick up the food, but not to redeliver my order correctly? won't be coming back anymore
I ordered ginger thai. Asked for spicy. A 4 out of 5. A two year old would not have thought this was spicy. So disappointed.
The best spot for traditional Thai food in DFW. It's a must if you're in the area (and totally worth the drive if you're not)
Best Thai food I have eaten in all DFW!! Highly recommend!
Beautifully decorated, great service, and the food doesn't disappoint. Management is doing a great job. I will be back!!
I order via Ubereats, nothing special , just a Normal Thai food. The pad Thai doesn’t have any nuts? Overall just an ordinary Thai food.
I loved the place, decoration, that's is nice and clean, waitress super nice and kind, food very tasty, I ordered spicy level 3, my husband level 4, my only recommendations is I think there should by a level between those two. don't miss ice cream with fried banana, it's delicious
Pad Thai and Thai Basil dishes were amazing. Appetizers came out fresh and fast and had great flavor. Service was amazing.
Great food, reasonable prices and the staff are very helpful. The BYOB option is one that attracted my Wife and I to try this place and we love it.
They hired more staff so services gottrn faster. They are very friendly and great at what they do. My only gripe is that they got a little more expensive.
My order arrived sooner than expected, unfortunately, it was hard to eat. The ginger stir fry was very salty. Also the carrots and mushrooms were sliced very thick and therefore not cooked. It was like eating raw vegetables.
It had been a while since i ordered from here and I've usually enjoyed their food.
Good food and great service.
Surprisingly good.
Adorable & charming place! Good place for a date!
Great appetizers and Pad Thai- tons of noodles and great seasoning. I will be ordering from here again.
What a gem hidden in a not so great neighborhood. Food was amazing. Service was amazing. Decor was so cozy and clean. Servers were pleasant and accommodating. Price to serving ratio is appropriate. Good variety of alcoholic beverages available but you can also bring your own vino of choice. We really enjoyed all dishes including fried rice, pad Kee mao, fish curry etc etc. Reservation is recommended.
Super great food! Also can bring your own wine :)
Food is very good, I loved the soup! And they provide a Great service & ambient.
Reasonable prices.
Highly recommend.
My parents and I accidentally stumbled in and had the best night ever. That food is to die for.. but the team is amazing. Ame over constantly to ensure we were happy and believe me...we were more than happy..thrilled with the team of amazing people that work that...was an amazing night with spectacular food...with joy and laughter...a night to remember thanks to the girls at Thai Opal.
Thank you with all my heart. You get
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Been ordering at least once a month for 4 years. Solid meal every single time. End of review.
I'm a big fan of thai food and I'm so glad I found this restaurant. The ambience here is great and it's a bit nicer than the typical casual eatery.
We got a few of the lunch specials, which come with your choice of a side (either a salad, soup or eggroll) and your choice of drink (iced tea or soda). I ordered the pad thai and really enjoyed it! Very flavorful and a slightly different aesthetic to the dish, which was nice. There are also other stir-fry, curry and noodle options. I would definitely recommend trying this place out, especially if you love thai food!
Great food with a very clean environment. Their fried beef option is awesome and the chicken Tom yum soup was amazing.
First time eating here and it was amazing! Ambience was romantic, service was professional, prices were low, and food was delicious! Will definitely be back here
Amazingly Clean, Amazingly Great Food, Outstanding Service, can't wait to come again...
I had the Thai fried rice with fried chicken: so good. Thanks to the guy next to us who had ordered this, I never would have known you could get the meat fried. We started with the garlic edamame, another fine choice. The workers all had their masks on, and they were seating people sporadically, so we felt safe.
Food is delicious!
Best Thai Restaurant in Dallas!! We go as often as we can and the only Thai restaurant we go to. We love the authentic flavors. Each bite is like the first and will have you going back over and over again.
I had a Roast Duck Curry for $18 at this place on June 25.2021. The taste was so so and they are not generous with duck meat.I found mostly duck skin in my curry . It's not worth it. They should have change the menu to 'Roasted Duck's Skin Curry". Or even better just take it off from the menu please. Not many people appreciate eating duck's skin only when you go to a nice restaurant.
Amazing yellow curry
Tofu was the best I’ve ever had like ever
Cute atmosphere
Chicken fried spring rolls or eggs rolls weren’t my favorite I think it’s because the sauce was so sweet.
I will be back for the curry it was delicious!!
I ordered the pad thai and it was the worst I have ever had. It tasted burnt and the flavors were all missing. It was not sweet nor was it sour and I do not even think there was fish sauce in it. I am seriously disappointed. I cannot even make myself eat it. This place used to be my favorite in the area.
Just tried this place tonight and loved it! Atmosphere, service and food were all amazing! Will definitely be back!
Glass noodle curry very tasty. Salads are delicious as well. Love the flavors at this awesome little spot in Dallas.
A clean, cozy dime lighted restaurant with terrific food! The service was friendly and accommodating. The cracked fried rice and fried wings were dee-lish! Will definitely go back!
Customer service is terrible. With takeout orders I always request a side of chili sauce, usually 1 or 2 and never more than one per entree. Not once have they included it. When I point it out upon pickup and ask for it staff are always rude and only reluctantly provide after being pressed. I’m happy to pay for it, but no one should have to deal with rudeness for a such a common request.
Wonderful food, reasonable prices. I'll definitely be back.
Lovely interior, wonderful food, and the staff is warm and genuine!
Received best thai food in Lake Highlands some years ago but I say they may still be in the running. Good price for great quality thai, reccommend you try it at least once. Exceptional cleanliness and polite staff
The order was wrong and I got charged for food that I didn't even order.
Nice services and very nice ppl working there..they're friendly. I commend you this thai restaurant is the most delicious thai foods for all. But we're all tastes differently. At least you should try.... Just getting experience😋
Menu on window is cheaper than menu when you actually order 😂 Pro tip: Don’t mention this to the staff.
My family and I absolutely adore this place! The food was delicious and the people that cook clean and wipe the tables are amazing beautiful people! The decor is lovely!I cannot wait to return! Thank you for making our family Dinner so nice and memorable!
Great place
#1 Thai spot in Dallas. Friendly customer service, dine in or take out. I always recommend this place to my friends!
Unexpectedly very quaint with a great ambience. The food was very fresh and great flavor. I loved it. Thoroughly impressed. Very good place to have a date night. The waitress even set a candle on the table. New favorite for sure. Helpful and friendly staff. Empty dining area which was also a plus. Just go.
I am from NYC and I have to say this restaurant is so authentic in its flavors and combinations. I absolutely love the Tom Kha chicken soup. My husband and I come here very often. This place is a hidden gem!
We had family in town, went here for the first time. We are extremely satisfied with our choice. Amazing food, excellent service, and the place is super clean. We will definitely be here again.
I have not tried one thing here I did not like! Highly recommend
AMAZING Masaman chicken curry!!
Order was completely wrong. Poor quality for the price as well. Not pleased.
Fresh food, great service !
I ordered the mixed vegetable yellow curry and it was delicious. I will definitely be back! Yummy
Amazing food ! love this place
Food was a 3. Service and price lower it to a 2. Wont be going back. Had to ask 3 different people for something. Had to ask waiter if he was going to take our drink order. Pad Thai was good but Mongolian Beef tasted like feet.
Lovely Thai restaurant tucked into a cheap strip center. With Family Dollar as the next door neighbor one really expects shabby fixtures and mediocre food. Thai Opal is the hidden gem. Pad Thai was good, but their curry was exceptional. We will be going back. Great Find!
Super delicious! Reasonable prices and great service. I haven’t had anything that I didn’t like from Thai opal! My favorite thai restaurant in Dallas!
