Absolutely delightful. Delicious food with a wide variety of well presented flavor profiles. The fried tofu was crisp and delicious and the noodle dishes were the perfect balance of savory and sweet. The refreshing treat at the end of mango rice had me patting my stomach like a happy bear. The ambiance of the environment is homely and welcoming with that perfect taste of Thailand flair.

We were visiting Portland and found Sivalai at the last minute and are so glad we did. The service was amazing, they treated us like family. We shared 3 dishes and had more than enough food for the 2 of us. Highly recommend and hope to be back someday!

The last two times I have ordered from here I have had issues with the food. Last time, it looked as if the rice for my yellow curry had been scooped with a spoon used for meat or something. There was bits of meat and sauce throughout what was supposed to be plain rice. I am vegetarian, so this was very frustrating. It made the food taste very gross.

Today when my friend ordered for us, the yellow curry smelled strange. It tastes flavorless but edible, but it smells like wet old towels. This had been my favorite restaurant but now I am skeptical to order again, I don’t want to have to throw away food because it doesn’t taste good.

Fantastic little gem in the neighborhood. Prices are very affordable, and the food is delicious. I don't know if it's the owner or not, but there's a very friendly server there who is a delight to work with.

We have a family tradition of eating at Sivalai each Christmas Eve, after church services nearby. We’re always greeted with cheerful delight, wonderful service, humor —and the food is top notch. It’s a small, family owned restaurant where you are treated like family. Top tier!

Silavai has great food. But you really need to upgrade your seats. Hard wood just does not work for a lot of people. My wife and I cannot sit on chairs with no cushioning.

My two friends and I went here the other night and sat in. The man who was seriving and hosting, who I don’t know the name of, was so sweet and kind. He gave us hot tea on the house since it was quite cold outside. As well as that, he gave us mango sticky rice on the house. Service was absolutely phenomenal, I tipped him 30%, he was super personable and joking around with us. The food was delicious and he made the See-Ew gluten free per request for me. The building is small and the lighting is fluorescent, but other than that it was clean and homey. I highly recommend this place!!

First experience: water....it's not just water... cucumber water!!! That blew my expectations away.

The food was amazingly made. Had hot basil, perfection on the cook and taste. Tasted Tom Kha soup and was blown away by the soup base.

Saw pictures of pad Thai, I'm immediately coming back. There's a constant line of movement from Uber eats and take out. You know it's that good.

And, don't get me started on prices. They look like pre-2008 crash prices.

Crazy good at a very reasonable price. I forget what it was called but I got a red curry with pineapple and chicken and bell peppers and it just hit the spot. Laid back Thai restaurant with truly wonderful food. The owner is really helpful with honest suggestions (level of heat in my dish).
We had: Fresh rolls with peanut sauce, Wonton soup, Pad See Ew, and Sivalai fried rice.
As we were finishing the owner bought over a small helping of sticky mango rice which was probably the best I've ever had and very thoughtful of him.

One of the worst thai places I have been. The food was actually disgusting, I could not eat it. I ordered the Pumpkin Curry which was one of their specials. Also to note, the water they server is either cucumber water, or there is something horribly wrong with it. They did not mention anything about it.

holy moly… just stopped here in passing for lunch during work and i feel like i’ve discovered a hidden gem!! some of the best thai food i’ve had in portland and the staff are so incredibly kind and lovely. i initially was going to take my order to go but decided to sit down because of the cute and comfortable atmosphere. customer service was 10/10, i was immediately served cold water that had a hint of cucumber (so refreshing and just a really nice touch!)

i got a chicken pad thai, no veg, no peanut (5/5) and an order of the potstickers (4/5). the pad thai was fantastic, very authentic and none of that ketchup-y stuff some places have. chicken was also tender and flavorful. the potstickers were also great, nice and crunchy outside with delicious inside.

you wouldn’t believe how shocked i was to find a complimentary mango & sticky rice dish(5/5)in my order! i’ve been craving this for so long and have never been to a thai restaurant has snuck one in for free. it was perfectly balanced and delicious.

Mel (I hope I got the name right) was such a joy. The hospitality here is unmatched. The environment was welcoming and homey. My father and I were greeted warmly and offered hot tea. We enjoyed a friendly conversation with Mel and when I asked for him to make a curry hot enough to make me cry, he delivered.

I think this will be my new go to! Highly recommend. Even at a 4.7 review average I think they're underrated.

This place is a mom & pop slice of heaven. The folks are nice as can be. The facilities are modest but clean. Papaya salad was perfection. Pineapple fried rice was heavenly. Red curry was out of this world—the best I’ve ever had. Complementary sticky rice with mango was the cherry on top. Prices are reasonable/on the cheap side too! To-go orders appear to be plastic-free (they give you all your food in paper cartons and in a cardboard box instead of a bag). Will absolutely come back.

Visited the restaurant after looking through the positive reviews of the place. Food was ok - spring rolls were good and the siracha stir fry was average IMO compared to other Thai restaurants I've visited in the tri-met area.
What unfortunately disappointed us was the service by the manager - he asked us not to disturb him with additions/changes to our order, as he was too busy to tend to us, but was spending time talking to other patrons who seemed to be regulars. Our request for extra spoons was refused; he just asked us to use what we have. We felt that this was unprofessional as this is the basic tenant of customer service.

Ignore the one star California trip review. This place is great. We've been gong here for years and the staff and food area the main reasons we return. We drive an hour across town to eat here well worth the drive. One of my all time favorites is the crispy basil combo paired with a Thai iced tea. Not hot enough ask for a spice tray. My mouth is watering thinking about it. Taking extended family here tonight and they are all excited to try one of our favorite places.

Look, the staff and service was great. The fact that they're really good at doing vegetarian/vegan versions of classic Thai dishes is great too. But the Pad Se'ew I got was a 5 out of 10. The tofu had zero preparation or texture, the egg may have well been blended with all the other ingredients to the point it was little bits and flakes, and the overall flavor of the sauce was just OK. I go to Thai restaurants because I want to eat dishes I can't cook better at home. Unfortunately in this case I could have done better myself. Still, above average experience and I appreciate their style and vibe.

This place was wonderful! Expected a lot because of the high reviews and was not disappointed. I can't chew right now so I asked if the noodles in my pad thai could be cut before cooking, the man taking our order was very accommodating and made sure everything was prepared so I could eat it. The pad thai itself was very flavorful and silky. My boyfriend got the crying tiger salad, it looked very simple but the flavors were complex and delicious. We got mango sticky rice as well; despite being out of season, the mango was very sweet, and the rice was soaked in sweet coconut milk with a pleasing texture. Everything was wonderful, including the service. Dishes were also cheaper than at other thai places I've been to, which was surprising due to the quality of the food. Will definitely be returning!

Excellent Thai food! Super friendly & fast service. We had a group of 13 and they accommodated us very well. The food was very authentic and flavorful. We had mass a man curry, pad Thai, drunken noodles, surprise curry, sweet mango rice. We will definitely recommend

This spot deserves its high ratings… some of the most genuine people creating an authentic Thai experience at a very fair price. As usual I got the restaurants most important dishes: chicken & shrimp crispy basil (4/5), coconut paradise (4/5), and the fresh role (3/5), and an included mango rice dessert (3/5). I won’t say that the dishes were incredibly intricate… but they were very tasty and well worth the price. The most valuable part of this restaurant are the people who run the place… very wholesome and grateful people. I recommend the spot, but don’t feel I would need to go again.

Cute little Thai restaurant with super friendly staff, sizeable menu, and reasonable prices. I ordered the papaya salad and sri-ra-cha dish. We told the server we love spice and he didn’t disappoint! He was super light-hearted and even gave us free mango sticky rice at the end of our meal.

Best Thai in town

This place is great! The food was really tasty - we got the seasonal pumpkin curry, the pad see ew, and a papaya salad. All were delicious! They were also really kind and offered us some hot tea while we waited for our to-go order. The cherry on top was when we got home and noticed that they'd slipped in a small dessert with our order for free! So kind! We'll definitely be back.

Really down to earth place, feels authentic. When I say it was the best thai food I've ever had, I mean it. I am craving to come back to portland just for this place. The prices are also incredibly cheap. Highly recommended.

This is Portland's best kept secret Thai restaurant. Unreal taste, freshness, service, and quality. We've tried to find an equal closer to home but never have. We make the drive gladly now.

This place was recommended to me by a coworker. We came here on a Saturday night and got a parking spot, we ordered food, lively atmosphere inside was great. Tom Kha soup was phenomenal, fried rice was okay, not spicy at all, and a glass noodle dish with black mushrooms didn't have any mushrooms lol but was decent. The service was great, they had fresh roses on the tables and nice decor in the room. I would love to come back and order Tom Kha again. Also I would like to try their salads and desert options.

Meow is such a kind and amazing host. The food here is phenomenal and we bring all our friends from out of town here. They never disappoint and are always consistent.
