Cook with Smile
Ever since we found out about this place, we decided that this will be our go to place for authentic and delicious Thai dishes. We always feel very welcomed by the staff and the service is exceptional. The food is hands down the most authentic and robust by far. We will definitely recommend to our friends and family.
I LOVE this place. Me and my other half had been exploring different Thai food restaurants and we found this one and now it’s our ONLY go-to Thai food place.
We’re always received with a friendly smile and the service is amazing. They bring out food in a reasonable amount of time. They’ve got great options on the menu and portions are generous at a reasonable price. The place itself is beautiful whether you decide to eat inside or outside.
If you’re looking for delicious Thai food THIS IS THE PLACE!
Let’s start with food! They have an entire Vegan menu. For appetizers my partner and I shared the salad rolls and vegan dumplings. The salad rolls were mad fresh and the peanut sauce was one of the best I’ve had. The dumplings were good and sauce was tasty. I recommend the vegan larb, it was comforting and light and the sauce with sticky rice hit the spot. My partner got the pumpkin curry with chicken and black jasmine rice. According to him it tasted even better than it looked. If you’re thinking about getting the Thai iced tea… DO IT! I recommend it with the coconut milk. Best in PDX! Overall staff was amazing, they seated us at 11pm and were nice and attentive. 10/10 thx! 💖
The atmosphere was great, given the weather (below 20 F) it was a bit cold but there were lots of bright colors there were a couple of different levels and a couple of different seating arrangements that made for a great design.
There are actually two restaurants in one: Ladda Thai House & Dee Dee Vegan Thai. The menus are in the same book but distinctly different.
The vegan food was really good! It was not over fried or super saucy or super oily, but cooked just right. If you order something that is spice level four (out of 5) chili peppers and chili sauce is brought for you to titrate.
They're open pretty late which is a benefit. The portions are definitely adequate...not huge not small. The staff very friendly.
Would recommend!
Really nice restaurant with wonderful service and indoor/outdoor seating. Atmosphere was clean and inviting. Service was fast and friendly. We took our food Togo & it was really good. My husband ordered the pad saw ew and I ordered basil fried rice and we shared crab rangoons. Prices are typical. Spice levels unfortunately weren’t correct. Good thing they included extra spice in the bag. I loved the dipping sauce that came with the crab Rangoons and the shrimp in my dish tasted perfect. Would order again from them.
In a sea of restaurants, this one stands out! First, we were greeted by a friendly, welcoming hostess, and immediately seated. The outdoor seating with fire pits at every table was a treat! On the cool evening, the fire set a great ambiance and provided just the right warmth.
The menu was varied, with some uncommon Northern Thai options! And the options were all good. We had trouble picking which dish to order because they all were good choices!
The food was served quickly and the presentation was pleasing. This is good Thai food! The flavor was amazing. The curry was the perfect consistency, and the spice was on point! Do yourself a favor and go to this restaurant!
Ladda Thai is a fantastic spot for authentic Thai cuisine. The food is flavorful, well-portioned, and reasonably priced. The service is warm and friendly, making the dining experience even more enjoyable.
One standout dish is the Thai grilled eggplant—perfectly cooked with a smoky, savory taste that keeps me coming back for more. Whether you're a Thai food lover or trying it for the first time, Ladda Thai is definitely worth a visit!
Couldn't even wait to get home to make this review ... omg!
I got the Thai Me Down cocktail, Chicken Satay, and Khao Soi. Reminded me of Thailand. So good, just go!!
Amazing service and atmosphere! Best vegan Thai food we’ve had in Portland. Got the Larb vegan and Singapore noodles. Phenomenal!
I came in and had the Larp, the atmosphere was warm, bright and inviting and the service staff were happy and helpful. The food was absolutely incredible with fresh vegetables and great quality meat.
This place is incredible, the food was extremely good. I ordered the Wild King Salmon plate and my brother ordered the pad Thai with crab Rangoon. Very good service and the nicest employees. I would give a 6/5 if I could
Papaya salad tasted flat and old. Pad See Ew was pretty tasteless and all noodles stuck together in tight, gummy clumps. Not the greatest, that’s for sure.
Ever since we found out about this place, we decided that this will be our go to place for authentic and delicious Thai dishes. We always feel very welcomed by the staff and the service is exceptional. The food is hands down the most authentic and robust by far. We will definitely recommend to our friends and family.
This place is the bee’s knees. The food and service are truly remarkable. I highly recommend the Avocado Noodle Curry!
Absolutely some of the best service in Portland.
They make you feel incredibly comfortable. Now add wonderful food and you have a great recipe for a special dining experience.
Great place for a date, excellent vibes all around.
Long time orderer, first time reviewer. I’ve never done a review but this place deserves one. I’ve had several dishes here like house special curry(which is a peanut sauce curry!) , the pad Thai (noddles and portions are great), the yellow curry (first curry I ever had awhile back and still holds as one of the best curry’s I’ve had)
to the potstickers which were great as well. Can’t say enough good things about this place <3
Great spot! Delicious food, they have a separate vegan menu too. We had the pumpkin curry, cashew tofu stir fry, salad rolls and crab Rangoons. Service was excellent, everyone was so nice and great atmosphere. Would definitely go again!
My new favorite Thai place… and, bonus, it is open until midnight on weekends. Really happy. Crab ragoon had real crab in it, salad rolls were fresh and well done. I had the sweet/sour chicken… it was not too sweet and everything tasted very fresh. The pad kee mao was solid too, noodles were well done and not at all overdone and mushy. Worth giving a try. We thought it was vegan, but wasn’t which we were totally okay with. And I Love they are open late… hard to find really good food that serves late. Only note is that it was a little too bright later in the night for us. But it wasn't horrible, just could be a little dimmer.
They refuse to add utensils to take out.
Multiple times. Eating using hotel pens as chopsticks is difficult.
The food is fine, it's just absolutely poor service and consideration of customer needs.
Edited: score increase for the new found addition of napkins, flatwear, chopsticks, etc in subsequent orders.
We did take out. Three different vegetarian curries. Each was excellent and delicious!
Incredible. Always packed (because it's delicious) and the seating outside has mini fireplaces
Really good thai food. Late night option
Really nice restaurant with wonderful service and indoor/outdoor seating. Atmosphere was clean and inviting. Service was fast and friendly. We took our food Togo & it was really good. Lovely space, fantastic service, and wonderful food. I order the mild-plus spice level and it is just right. I'm looking forward to trying the many dishes. Haven't been disappointed yet.

Update: we’ve been back often since I wrote the first review, and haven’t been disappointed since. Definitely continues to be the best Thai food we’ve had in Portland, and this is one of our regular/favorite restaurants. Bonus tip for winter: the picnic tables outside have heated seats!
We moved to PDX last year and have been trying many Thai restaurants trying to find a good one, and we can finally end our search. Everything we ordered was fantastic, and the servers are incredibly attentive and friendly. The dishes are very generous and we definitely over-ordered expecting average portions. Could not have been better.
This place was yum-tastick!!! I'm so glad we found this spot on Google maps. I'm telling you, one of the best Thom Kha soups I've ever had!!!! It was sooooooo damn good, we ordered another to go! I hope it makes it home. Good servings, we left full with leftovers, besides the 2nd Thom Kha y'all! Do yourself a favor and stop on by, we can't wait to come back again!
Great food. Super nice staff. I’m stuffed abs only ate half!
The house curry and the basil chicken were absolutely divine! Genuinely the best thai food i've had in a very long time!
Food is delicious, and service by the friendly young man is always amazing! I’m leaving this review because the young lady working tonight (6/23) astonished my partner and I in the worst way. We ordered pickup, and I waited in the car while he went in to get our order, I sent him in with a $20 bill to split for a $10 cash tip (almost 20% on a pickup order, definitely generous—we’re both in the food & service industry and we like to pass along the kind of treatment we appreciate ourselves) and when he asked for change he let her know it was because he wanted to leave a cash tip for them, and he overheard her complain to the other employee “damn, are we a bank?” … really? You’re complaining about making change for a generous cash tip? I was astounded when my partner told me what happened, I legit wanted to go back in and take the money back. Her attitude is beyond ungrateful! Making change is a standard in restaurants, and cash tips are untaxed income so always the preferred, how the hell is it an inconvenience to you to receive money?!? I’m heated about it, she’s lucky my partner was already driving and since the young man is always so wonderful, I’m happy that some of that money will go to him so I’m going to let it be. I hope she can learn some gratitude for what comes her way and how to do her job with a good attitude. Whoever the manager is, please talk to this girl!!
Love their outdoor seating area!
Really happy to find a place with good food open late. The service was very cheerful and welcoming and our food came quickly. They were also doing good take out. The neighborhood is fortunate to have them
Charming spot with friendly service and great flavors.
This was the best Thai food we have ever eaten! The server was exceptional, so friendly, personable and attentive. Thank you so much for making our night so special.
Tons of options beyond the noodles, fried rice, stir fry’s and curries. Plenty of vegan options as well. Waiter is very kind. Open later than most other restaurants. With so many Thai restaurants out there to try, I’m happy to keep going back.
Great Thai food. Try the Khao Soi !! Check it out
The service was amazing, the food was amazing, and the options were amazing. It also felt like a very good place to be
Friendly staff, great food, adorable interior, and cute patio! Love this place. Extensive menu and many items can be made vegan.
Absolutely fantastic food and amazing service. The duck Pad Thai is exceptional and the "Oh My God" appetizer fully lives up to the name.
Clean, fast, friendly, and delicious 😋
Amazing service, warm & inviting atmosphere, and the best Pad See Ew I’ve had in a long time! Will definitely be coming back to try more dishes!
Our family’s favorite Thai place!
(4.7/5) Man this place sticks out. Got takeout on a whim and was surprised it wasn’t more packed in there after eating.
The restaurant itself is Ladda and Dee Dee Vegan Thai so there is lots of great choices.
I was recommended the chicken wings and rice. The chicken wings were fire - glazed so well, hot and flavorful. The rice dish was a great portion and tasty.
Amazing service and great food. Definitely coming back!
Ordered Tom Yum soup. It came with hardly any broth, it was mostly noodles and very little other ingredients. It tasted like noodles with ketchup on them. None of the ingredients seemed fresh for this or our other entree we ordered. It didn’t seem anywhere close to authentic Thai food. We didn’t finish our food because it tasted so off. It’s too bad, we wanted to like this place, but the quality was not good.
Great place, dope atmosphere, amazing food, tasty cocktails. watch out for the patio heated seats, it can get toasty

Would recommend!
Great experience and even better food!! We were greeted by super kind and attentive wait staff and the food was very quick and super tasty. Really appreciated so many amazing vegan options. We got the tofu satay, tofu pad kee mao and soy curl panang curry, all of which were so delicious and really well balanced! Best Thai food I’ve had in Portland. We will definitely be back to try the pumpkin curry next time.
We're becoming regulars, and haven't had anything here that hasn't been fantastic. Excellent food, excellent service, amazing selection. Favourites: Tom Yum soup, grilled eggplant, peek kai wings, sticky rice pudding...
Excellent pad Thai imo, not drowning in oil, good serving, coming back for sure, thanks chef!
Horrible food. Incorrect dishes were received with missing ingredients, found hard crunchy pieces in my food that hurt my teeth, and I’m pretty sure it gave me mild food poisoning. :(
Moldy noodles, incorrect protein. Absolutely terrible. I LOVE thai food, I like to try new places every now and then. I don't review often but I felt this was a must to let other people know. I usually order a noodle dish with sides and an appetizer. This time I ordered Pad Se Ew with chicken, medium spice. Instead, I received Pad Se Ew with tofu, no spice, add mushroom. I was willing to overlook those things, although disappointing. I had a small portion in the evening and saved the rest for today. This morning, I was nauseaus and ended up puking a lot of what I had ate. Later today, upon reheating my dish, I discovered black/blue/purple noodles in the bottom of my dish. (I took photos, trying to add them) Absolutely disgusting looking, combined with the fact my dish was incorrect. I'm guessing, based on all the factors, that this was a dish no one showed up for and they decided to give it to me instead. I will NEVER go here again and I discourage anyone else.
Hopefully im wrong but once upon a time I did home restoration, haven't been in there since it was the ranger station but.. let mom and dad know it smells like you got a leaky pipe that's causing mold and mildew. Just looking out, the food is amazing but something doesn't smell right in there.
Food was great, friendly staff, and this place stays open late!
Best Thai food in town! The peanut fried rice is awesome and best Tom yum I’ve ever had
Ordered take out and from the moment I stepped in the door I was already in a much better mood. I was greeted with a big smile and the decor is so fun and inviting. The food was delicious!! So much flavor and didn’t feel too heavy either. Can’t wait to dine in and try more of their dishes.

Audi was an amazing server, food was better than I could of imagined AND Audi dashed down the street to return my phone I left! I'll be BACK!!
really incredible service here! our server was super kind and helpful without being overbearing; the atmosphere is very relaxing. There is indoor and outdoor seating and the wait is not very long. The menu is quite long, but all the dishes seem to be very well prepared! We ordered Larb and Pra ram; both were super delicious and beautifully plated. There is a vegetarian menu for those folks, as well as alcohol and dessert, although they were all out of the mango sticky rice. I'll definitely be back to try more!
Service was with a smile and amazing!! The steam dumpling were YUM and the vibe was wonderful!! I took off one star because the noodles in our pad Thai were a little undercooked & the tofu was meh — good sauce though! We loved that it was open late & would return again, perhaps the noodles were a one-off mistake and we can switch proteins. Good spot overall!!
Their Khao soi whether at ladda Thai or dee dee Thai are both amazing. It's so flavorful and balanced. Must try if you are in the area
Ordered the Pad Thai & rice pudding from the ChowNow app to deliver last night when I did not have it in me to cook.
Delicious black rice pudding with a slightly nutty taste & a good amount of sweetness. It was even still good after microwaving leftovers for breakfast!
I also enjoyed the Pad Thai with soy curls. It had a few “extra” ingredients that I don’t remember listed on the menu (broccoli & cabbage), but they mostly added to the flavor. Keep that in mind of that, though, if you don’t like specific ingredients. I’m not the biggest cabbage fan, but it’s not the end of the world to eat around/remove it from my meal. Aside from that, it’s a classic rendition of the popular dish.
They have a few interesting iterations of Pad Thai & other dishes that I’ll have to try another time when my wallet allows.
Newly located in the old Ranger Station. Very Tasty Thai food. Appreciated that they had a separate menu for vegan options.
Chicken wings were hot and delicious!
I also hit The cashew stir fried vegetables as 2 spicy- and they did manage to give me some spice!
Plate presentation was lovely with the orchid.
I liked the photo wall with friends and family.
I paid $46 for 3 dishes. 2 apps and 1 entree. Only water.
I’m glad to go out for lunch but wow.
You won’t find a menu like this anywhere else in Portland - a must-see, open late!!!
With looking up Thai restaurants, me and my partner loved that this restaurant is opened late! We were able to get a table outside, and the waiter brought out a portable fire pit! It was perfect for the summer evening.
We order the fried chicken, pad Thai, and homemade icecream (coconut and mango). Both were really delicious.
However, the best part of our meal was our waiter / arrive he provided. He was very attentive and kind.
Spectacular food, wonderful service, and the atmosphere is so cheerful.
Fantastic Thai restaurant with a comfortable atmosphere, great service, and delicious food. Highly recommended.
I’m blown away by how amazing their tofu food is! I’ll be a weekly customer after eating there. So good!
Not only is the food great (and I've eaten Thai food from NYC to LA) but the service was great and the outdoor dining had a propane fire pit built into the table. And best of all, it's open Late Night!!!
Service was superb! I'd go back!
Great food! They serve papaya salad with sticky rice - delicious! A favorite dish is the Chef's choice coconut vegan vegetables, from the Dee Dee vegan menu; it has a fantastic variety of tender al dente veggies in an addictive light coconut sauce. The staff are very friendly and efficient too.
Very good food spicy levels are very accurate 😅 this is your sign to eat here
So went in fo4 the first time, because a friend recommended it so me and my gf went she ordered pad Tai with roasted duck I ordered the tamarind curry with also roasted duck mine was edible, the curry was good but my girlfriend duck was soooooooo dry and flavorless you could tell it was frozen it was not......I wouldn't recommend duck there and yeh its not a fine dining restaurant so you could say what do you expect, well at least something edible or don't serve it at all not going back there
We went to this new Thai restaurant last night and I must say the food is fantastic. We ordered a veggie wrapped for an appetizer, my partner ordered a Larb duck salad, and I ordered chicken rice ( Khao Man Kai ). They were all quite delicious. They even bought me a bowl of chicken broth soup with vegetables. The chicken meat was really tender, and the source and soup were flavorful. The Larb duck ( apparently you wrapped in cabbage ) was spicy with a mixture of tangy and sweet taste to it. The texture is crunchy. We like it a lot. We enjoyed our food so much, we decided to order the salmon curry and fried chicken to go.
When we were there, the restaurant got more and more busy. I can see the staff were doing their very best to serve every customer. My heart goes out to them. I certainly can appreciate how hard it is to run a restaurant, especially for a small family business. We will definitely be back for more Thai food!
Beautiful fire pits
Khao soi is one of my absolute favorite dishes, and this is the best I've had in years. Beautifully flavorful, rich, and perfectly balanced, it was an absolute delight. We also had the coconut zucchini, which looked like it was hand-battered and was cooked to the perfect texture and served with a lovely spicy/sour sauce that really enhanced the flavors of the zucchini. The mussamun curry was also excellent and quite rich, with the sizable chunks of beef just melting in your mouth.
The service was great, the atmosphere is charming, and they have plenty of outdoor seating. The menu offers an interesting variety of dishes from the classics to more creative fare, and there were definitely vegetarian and vegan options, so there's plenty for everyone to enjoy. I can't wait to come back and try something new (or get my favorite Khao soi again)!
Coconut zucchini 4
Khao Soi Noodles w chicken 4.8
DRINKS
Thai ice green tea 4.2
Our #1 favorite now. Such a great addition to the neighborhood. Definitely several cuts above the standard Thai in Portland. We had the grilled eggplant with broccoli and soft tofu. The sauce was drinkable! So tasty! The larb was limey and delicious, and seved with cabbage, which is a “must have” for larb. The wings are excellent. Can’t wait to go back.
Fresh and flavorable, just like in Thailand!
Get the crispy trout it's soooooo good.
The service is so sweet and friendly.
Great food and very friendly!
Decided to order take out from this new Thai place on Hawthorne and I’m super glad I did! Everything was phenomenal! Best curry I’ve har in awhile. On top of that, their service is very friendly and welcoming, they were happy to answer any questions and give suggestions. Cannot wait to comeback again!
Great food and service! I had the salad rolls and red curry. Would definitely return.
Unique thai restaurant with an interesting menu and delicious food
We went here again tonight, after finding them a few weeks ago. Again everything was so amazing! We couldn't sit inside, so we opted for outside and weren't sure about how cold it would be. But they have heaters and such so it was amazing.
We are very happy with this place!
Great variety in the menu. Good food and lovely service. Our new favorite neighborhood thai restaurant!
I'm not a huge Thai fan, but I love good Thai food! Don't waste your money here, first time customer but last time too!!! Wife who loves everything & me who likes quality, this was a total failure for both of us! I dislike giving poor reviews but this is one deserving of one!! Sorry!🫢 Guess I should add it was delivery, from Uber eats but not their fault! Mushy, soft & lacked any flavor. Maybe delivery isn't important to them.
We used to love the atmosphere at Ranger Station so thought we would give Ladda Thai a try. Still love the atmosphere and the food and service were both great. I had the Ladda spicy basil with tofu and appreciated the generous quantity of vegetables and fact that it wasn't overly saucy. I'll definitely be back!
Nice warm atmosphere and very friendly service. The menu offers all kinds of Thai foods from appetizers, soups, salad, noodles, curries, stir fries to chef’s specials! We had Calamari (very light and tender), Karee Puff (yummy), Bangkok Sausage (I loved the heat!) and Pumpkin Tempura (light and sweet) as starters. All were delicious. Crispy trout (wonderful combination of crispy fried trout and fresh mango, green apple with lime sauce!) was fabulous and Thai grilled Eggplant (tender and tasty) was fantastic. We will definitely come back. Highly recommend to anyone who likes Thai food.
So excited to have this place in the neighborhood! The larb was fantastic, spicy and fresh. Cozy and welcoming space and the owners are really friendly. Looking forward to trying the rest of the menu.
Great service ! I come in pretty often, nice spot to get some good food and relax. The Pot Stickers are crunchy, sweet, and the sauce completes the appetizer. Thanks
Delicious and very tasty food. Staff are friendly, lots of good vibes in this place. Hands down the best Thai food I’ve ever had. 🥰
Delicious! We had Karee Puffs, Pad Thai combo, House Curry. Curry was rich! Order was ready early, we picked up. Piping hot!
MUSHY fried rice. MUSHY jasmine rice. House fried rice was nothing like the photo (no broccoli, peas, carrots or tomatoes). I paid for extra cucumbers and green onions… didn’t get them. The shrimp was on the verge of “turning.” Garlic chicken had no flavor, yet alone any garlic flavor. The fried rice wrapped veggie appetizer was the circumference of a thin cigar with no veggies to be seen.
What a disappointment!
As a rule, I choose not to write bad reviews. I figure everybody has an “off day” every now and then.
But because today’s meal was so unpalatable and we paid quite a bit, I felt I had to say something.
They just opened 3 weeks ago. New restaurants usually put “their best food forward.” Not in this case.
Fantastic food, thier in hour made chili makes for deliciously spicy dishes. There is a Thai dish for everyone and the owners and chefs who have been in the business for 20+ years are very kind. Definitely recommend
Great service and delicious food! I never write reviews, but this place is worth the review. The pumpkin tempura is so good. Best Thai food I’ve had in Portland. :)
