We have been serving Southeast Asia cuisine and also a variety of bubble tea since 2006. Our Chef has 25 years of experience in this area and is eager to share our food culture with our local friends. We also currently serving Ramen bowl and noodle soup, if you are a noodle person, come in and join us with a hot bowl of noodle soup. We also specialize in Malaysian food and also Thai food.
Get ready to embark on a culinary adventure at Tea n Bowl, the ultimate destination for Malaysian and Thai cuisine! Our menu is packed with mouth-watering dishes that will take your taste buds on a journey to Southeast Asia. From the classic Pad Thai to the fiery Laksa, we've got it all
Super authentic Malaysian food! I was raised in Malaysia so this is a verified comment! Portions are also large with reasonable prices and huge menu of selections of food. The restaurant was very small though, so dine in might not work out if they are busy. They also have a small section of knick knacks for you to shop while waiting for your food where you can find some cute collectibles!
Our server was amazing!!! With 2 small kids, she was really considerate and patient with us.
The food choices were great! I ended up with the brisket hot pot, which was a great choice! It was packed full of flavor! I'd order it again! They also gave great bubble tea flavor options! I tried the coffee one with coffee bubbles for the first time. Also, had this dessert with custard! It was yum!
Thanks for making our first time there a great experience!
This place is a gem! This restaurant is very small, try to make a reservation if you can but they do have walk in dine in service. They also have quick carry out bubble tea service. It's a small restaurant filled with cute toys, plushies, figures, etc available for purchase.
Parking is street parking around campus and can be difficult to find. There are some neighborhood side streets that you can find and walk over.
We got a few dishes to try and they were all fantastic! I really liked the Curry Laksa, Nasi Lemak, and the Hong Kong chicken was crispy and seasoned very well. They offer so many different dishes and options and they're all made well. Their prices are affordable and their portions are quite big. I recommend trying dishes from each category, you can't go wrong.
We also got a couple bobas and I get my usual, durian milk tea. They're one of the only places I know that has this flavor option and they make it well. Overall, the quality of food is great and tastes delicious.
Staff is super nice, kind, and patient. We took a little bit longer to order but our server was so nice. Our server recommended a few dishes and we got a couple and those were fantastic!
I would recommend this place for a casual date, small group, authentic dishes, and delicious boba. Overall, a very comfy, warm, and welcoming place for delicious food and I recommend it.
Completely different from what I expected based on the Google Maps photos. Not sure if they changed owners, but the entire restaurant is now decorated with Japanese-style merchandise made in China. It lacked authenticity and didn’t feel connected to Thai cuisine at all. It’s more of a fusion restaurant with mediocre flavors across the board.
And don't order boba tea!
I was visiting the UC campus and passed the cutest little Thai/Malaysian restaurant tucked away on McMillian Street. We were too busy at the time, and their AC was not working, so we made mental notes and finally made it back to try it out. The place is decorated with colorful collectables and also acts as a storefront for all things cool. The menus (updated) are online, but you order with the waitress in person (unless its a to go order). There are only 4 tables so try and pick a time when it wont be busy, unless you are ordering to go. The food is just as colorful as the restaurant and also just as flavorful! Order anything pork belly and you wont be disappointed. And the AC is fixed!!!!
Great resturant to have southeast asian food and pretty much the only one in the area that gets the flavors right. Ive had many places before but this is as authentix as you get in cincinnati. The roast duck noodle is great, crispy skin and not overcooked so its juicy. The noodles are just the right texture and they use all the right spices and toppings. The broth is sweet and fragrent that was a little forward with the garlic. The only thing i could have liked if there was more and it was a little cheaper. Regardless a must try place if you want southeast asian food in cincinnati. I also had their red bean desert which was very fresh and a great light snack to finish the meal with!
Their ramen bowls are rich and flavorful, with perfectly cooked noodles and fresh ingredients. The diverse tea selection is refreshing and complements the meal beautifully. The cozy atmosphere and friendly, attentive staff make you feel right at home. For delicious food and excellent service, Tea and Bowl is a must-visit.

Beautiful location with delicious food! First time here and definitely won't be the last. Get the roasted duck noodle soup for sure.

The prawn soup is excellent on a cold day. They serve the broth piping hot, as any soup should be. Highly recommend.
This is the best and most authentic Asian restaurant in the city. The menu is enormous. I've tried quite a lot of it in my dozens of trips here and literally everything the chef, Ryan, makes is phenomenal. He and his sister always come out to greet my gf and I. The people are friendly, the prices are reasonable, the food is unrivaled. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Best boba around!!

The food is absolutely amazing! I would give 100 stars if I could 🤩❤️ The pork dumpling is fantastic!
The food is decent but it is very expensive for what it is. Not bad, but would prefer other places nearby given the price.
The chicken skewers actually made me cry they were so good. The balance of flavor and crunchy skin with the tender chicken has stolen my heart and I will be returning at least once a week for them specifically. The staff are also so nice and make the trip twice as good!

Just because this place seats a few and sells cute merch/collectibles doesn't discount it! This place is awesome, try the curry. Super fast service, legit SEA taste, and very friendly & kind owner/staff.
As Malaysian, I approve of the food here. Asam laksa, wat dan hor, prawn me all good. The specific noodles for each dish was correct. Impressed. Spice levels also not toned down for ang moh, extra points. But I beh tahan the service. We asked for serviettes, forks, small things like that and never come. Had to rummage around to find them ourselves. The second thing was smoke from kitchen found its way into the a/c and somehow made our eyes hurt. Next time I tar pau to avoid it. This place can bring friend to eat, they don't siasuay Malaysian food.
Great traditional soups! Delicious flavors!
Very flavorful food asian food and tea. The menu is viewed through an QR code and the waitress was very friendly in helping us out. There are some kawaii and anime stationary and items in the store for purchase as well. Parking is a bit hard to find because it is in downtown but there’s a garage a few blocks away and metered spaces.
I absolutely love this place, some of the best food I have evert eaten. Lots of cool souvenirs and the service is great. Must try spot if you live in cincinnati, their menu is big and has something for everyone.
Everything was delicious. Shocking amount of options. Service was excellent. The dining room was charming but a little cramped.
I was driving through Cincinnati & was craving Asian food. I've never had Malaysian food before & was curious about this place. Glad we stopped here. They don't have a big seating area but they do make reservations over the phone. There's a bunch of Sanrio & Anime items for sale in the seating area that you can browse while your foods being made.
We ordered chicken pad see ewe & Malaysian fish curry. The pad see ewe was perfectly seasoned & the fish was cooked to perfection with just a hint of spice.
Came here for lunch and the food was delicious. Service was great too. They also have a bunch of cute keychains and stuff that you can buy
An interesting selection of Asian fusion, given that there are many varieties of cuisine from different cultures, Tea n Bowl is pretty solid! Of the Hainanese chicken, Roti Malaysian curry, and XO noodles, our favorites were the XO noodles because of the mellow heat and savory flavors that come from the (what I assume to be) soybeans. While I think everything tasted good, the curry came out a little cold, and service was very slow (understandable because at the time it was only one person). The vibes in the place are really cool, but I think I’d have to try more dishes to see what they truly specialize in.
Ate there today for the first time and it was very very good! They were very helpful explaining the dishes. I had the Laksa Noodle Soup. It was fantastic. I'll be going back for sure!
We live in Columbus and thought we would come here to try Authentic Malaysian Food since there is none in Columbus. We were very satisfied! Food was delicious and the portions were very big. We got the Ipoh Char Kuey Teow, sizzling malaysian tofu & Malaysian fish fillet curry. Make sure to call ahead to reserve if you want to dine in.
The stuffed tofu with Laksa curry is the best! The rest is OK. Some items are not available daily. Although they have all items listed on the menus. So sad.
It's a la carte. Anything you add on your plate is extra charge. You'll end up with high bill!
Please skip the Nasi Lemak with Rendang (rendang is very sweet, runny, and lots of shredded coconut). Far from the real rendang taste.
It's OK to eat there once awhile if you're craving for Asian.
You have to make reservations ahead of time, since they only have 3 small table up to 4 people/table.
Oh my god the beef brisket noodle soup is a must. It’s a very popular item on the menu. And order it for dining in. MUST MUST MUST
beef brisket noodle soup, get it! It’s what everyone gets and you should too. You won’t be sorry. You’ll be the opposite. On a cold day, it warms the soul.
Tea n Bowl Asian Food and Bubble Tea Highly recommended.
They have a cute store inside the restaurant, i call it cafe because it so cute and so many merchandise there, if you guys like bobba, get it the teh tarik it is so rich tea flavour with milk, and i get Nasi Lemak as my lunch, they don’t have lunch or dinner prices i think, because all the menu was on the online and you just tell the server, he’s pretty quick and i love the small restaurant, its absolutely cute and delicious food
DELICIOUS!! brings back childhood memories from when we lived in Singapore. Can’t find anything like this up in Dayton where we live so we will definitely be back and bringing family with us! All the ingredients are super fresh; you can tell that a lot of energy went into prepping and cooking. Also the portions are big, so definitely come hungry! Already looking forward to coming back!!!
Great place with delicious food and friendly customer service!
Small restaurant, but service was nice. Would rather have a paper menu to read not a QR code to look at. Not a lot of parking and it's all metered.
Love the build your own bowl!
3 different times of eating at Tea n Bowl with 3 different culinary delights of deliciousness! Can't wait to come back.
Went to Tea n Bowl for lunch. Limited sitting table but managed to get a table for 5 person. Portion of serving is big and food is tasty. Would recommend to anyone who wish to taste Malaysian cuisine.
Overpriced and food was dry.
The menu was so extensive that we are coming back!
Not clean enough. The water and the cup is dirty. The chubby guy is rude as hell.
My wife and I had the pleasure of visiting Malaysia some years back and loved the cuisine. Since then we have searched for a places that serve Malaysian food and found this place in a trip to Cincinnati.
The food was the most authentic and best we have tried so far. The roti was incredible, the satay was perfect, and the char kway teow was great.
the best boba in cincinnati! the strawberry flavor is unmatched
Food is good. Varied Malaysian menu. Small and I hate ordering electronically. But authentic foods.
I had an awful experience here. All the glasses had something sticky on it, and my water had something floating in it. Other than this, the waiter was not aware of the menu items. I tried the Curry Laksa, it was good, and the portion size was more than enough. I also tried the Honeydew Bubble tea. I asked for popping bubbles, and sadly, most of the bubbles had already popped. Also, the flavor was not great either.
It is a wonderful restaurant. The food is great. And the staff is friendly. Great decorations and non food items for sale too.
It is very small seating inside. Only 3 tables.
I recommend that you order the food for take out and enjoy it at home if it is busy.
Wonderful Bubble tea. With many flavor options. Really good food.
Cozy little shop that my partner said felt like "eating in a living room". The food was good!
Tea n bowl is so gooooooood!
This is one of the best restaurants in Cincinnati!!! Their menu is extensive and has something for everyone. They even have bubble teas. The Malaysian menu is excellent. The herbal pork bone soup (Bak Kut Teh) is just the right dish for a cold winter day. The roti canai is freshly made. Every item I’ve ordered has been delicious and authentic. They also have very cute items in their store, if you’re looking to buy a special gift. The service is excellent and friendly. Highly recommended! Please take your time to try this hidden gem ! I’m sure you will love it and keep coming back!
On Tuesday 20th at 7:10 we dined in and the restaurant wasn't busy as it was just three parties and no carry out orders. The staff took our order and we waited 30 minutes. After a while we asked how much longer and they said they haven't started making it yet and it would be another 20 minutes.
Tea N bowl… you have my heart. I grew up in Malaysia & lived there for 11 years before my family moved away in 2015. Been missing & craving the food since forever ago & it’s hard to find authentic Malaysian food in Kentucky/Ohio. Been ordering from you guys for awhile and that won’t stop anytime soon!! I love you guys 🫶🏻🥺 makes me miss Malaysia even more.
This has quickly become a favorite near campus for me. Excellent food that is served in generous portions; I always have enough to carry home for a second meal. Staff is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is nice. I cannot say anything about their bubble tea (haven't tried it) but I do have friends who swear by it.
Fire ramen
My husband and I dined in for our 1 year anniversary and the food was amazing, the workers were polite and attentive even though it was so busy. We cannot wait to go again!
This place is simply amazing. It’s a very small, quaint restaurant (limited seating for dine-in), but they go out of their way to make your dining experience a good one. We usually go in for my son’s birthday and the kitchen has always produced something special for us to try. If you’re a fan of curry, make a bowl with that broth and thank me later. You also can’t go wrong with adding wontons. Ever.
Located on West Macmillan and next to the University of Cincinnati campus, Tea n Bowl is one of two restaurants in Cincinnati, the other one being Citrus & Sago (Sago Cincinnati) -- also reviewed by me -- in Mount Lookout where a Malaysian American like me can find authentic Malaysian food. Originally featuring Chinese American cuisine, Tea n Bowl added Malaysian cuisine when they brought in a chef, Ryan, from my hometown, Ipoh in Malaysia. Folks in the know would be aware that Ipoh is the unofficial food capital of Malaysia and Tea n Bowl features the diverse range of Malaysian cuisine, including Ipoh, Penang, Kuala Lumpur, and Southern Malaysian style dishes.
The menu does not separate the Malaysian cuisine from the broader Chinese American and fusion Asian American cuisine, but rather scattered across the menu. It would be nice to have a separate Malaysian menu for ease of ordering. Those of us who are Malaysians and Singaporeans would ask what is available that isn't listed in the menu.
During this visit -- see photos below -- I had the Malaysian teh tarik, the Hakka yong tau foo (or yong liu) -- which is not on the main menu and which you would have to check with the kitchen for availability, and the Ipoh-style kon loh (i.e., dry rather than the Hong Kong soup style) wonton noodles with char siu (Chinese barbeque pork).
The teh tarik, i.e., frothy Malaysian style black tea sweetened with condensed milk is just right and not too sweet. I love the yong liu, comprising yong tau foo, tau foo pok, fu pei, and stuffed red chilis. This is traditional Hakka street food and as a Hakka myself, I can attest to the authenticity and taste of the yong liu. If you are interested to try this, check with the kitchen since it is not listed on the menu. The kon lor wonton mee is served with seasoned soy sauce and wonton and char siu. I love the Malaysian style dry wonton noodles over the Hong Kong soup-based wonton noodles and this dish is authentic and tasty.
What a wonderful find! The staff helped us choose interesting dishes. My daughter loved her peach slushy with bubbles. I don't remember name of my special but it had curried beef, blue coconut rice, fermented cabbage salad, cucumber and crunchy dried anchovies for an amazing flavor combo!! Next time would also get parmesan cookies- just perfect sweet savory balance.
Love the food.
I did a mobile order and it was right on time and ready for me and I didn’t have to wait in line. It smelled wonderful in there and I wish I would’ve made a reservation to stay! It seems like the perfect place just to enjoy life. The taro milk tea is honestly perfect. Amazing flavor.
Food is good here but it's better when you dine-in; I've carried out several times and the taste and presentation isn't the same. So unless you're getting something dry that doesn't require sauce (because items without sauce are the only things that may hold up better upon carry-out) take the time and dine-in.
The curry laksa noodle soup, spicy pepper chicken and eggplant with garlic sauce are my favorite dishes here. I suggest adding extra vegetables to the laksa and chicken dishes. We go here every month or so and are never disappointed. The flavors are layered and explosive. Enjoy!
The staff greet you as soon as you walk in the door and are very very helpful if you are a first-time customer like me and my children were today. Will definitely be going back
The ramen was disgusting. It was supposed to be pork based broth but there was too much ginger that’s all I could taste.
"Best chicken like ever. It's so crunchy. It's just really good. I like the batter." - auntie Jane
Edit: the fried rice is a little salty though.
Edit 2: I found a hair in my food (but it might be mine)...
Great food and good tea!
Authentic Malaysian food!
The boba tea was wayyyy too sweet for my liking.
Really really yummy! I recommend the roast duck noodle its really good. The tea is also great and good service!
Lovely and quaint inside. The bowls are very delicious and filling. I can't wait to go back
Support this wonderful restaurant! Always great!
I love their eggplant stir fry dish, it's the best I had so far. None of the other restaurants make the eggplant crispy like they do.
My family and I were looking for a new restaurant in our area to try and we were pleasantly surprised with our experience. Although there is limited seating, the incredible food and drinks made up for that. There are a lot of menu options and we went with the Mango Milk Bubble Tea, Steamed Dumplings, Spicy Pepper Chicken, and Beef Brisket Noodle Soup. All of them were delicious!
Ordered here for the first time and the food smelled so bad. It smelled like wet dog and the food was very dry. Our appetizers were completely burnt. Spent $40 and had to throw everything away. Very disappointed and i will never ever be back. I LET THE OWNERS KNOW ABOUT MY SERVICE AND NOTHING AT ALL WAS DONE! DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY UNLESS YOU WANT TO THROW YOUR MONEY IN THE TRASH
I’ve never had a bad meal here. Tea n Bowl is authentic and delicious. I try a new dish every time I order and I’ve never been disappointed. And as a plus, the staff is lovely.
Consistent and delicious! A staple in the community and an absolute treat.
Lots of ice and expensive. Ask for light ice and 50-75% of sugar.
best drunken noodles in the city!!
best boba in clifton. my favorite is probably the taro boba.
Such a wonderful little restraunt!! Great food and fantastic employees!!!
I like the bubble tea
Menu for online order did not indicate proteins that came with the dish (not did the regular menu) but I recognized it as one that's typically served with only pork. However, there was shrimp in it instead, buried under sauce, resulting in my having an allergic reaction after 1 bite. I'm sure the food was delicious, but PLEASE indicate ingredients on your menu so your customers aren't left guessing.
One of my favorite restaurants in the city! Excellent food and service.
This was a cute neat place to sit down to enjoy a meal. The food was tasty. Ordered the seafood soup that had crab, mussel, and shrimp and the portion was huge.
+ Best panang curry in town
+ Super friendly staff
+ Boba is made fresh and so tasty
+ Mmmmmm sticky rice!
+ Crazy cool atmosphere!
+/- Very few tables, but always found a spot to sit at (Spring '21).
+ Bike parking outside! Ring racks on sidewalk.
Tea N Bowl is honestly one of my favorite places, I drive two and a half hours from Columbus to get tea. The lavender and mango snow are my typical go-tos. They are always so kind and incredibly covid safe compared to some of the surrounding shops. If I could give them more stars I would.
One of the best Chinese food I've had around campus. Huge variety of bubble tea, and great service.
Wonderful service. I got a Thai milk bubble tea and my wife got a black bubble tea and they were good. The host was very nice and courteous. Will come back again.
Great place to go! Awesome service Definitely will be back!
Incredible bubble tea and amazing service!! This place brings back memories of my amazing time studying abroad in China. Definitely recommend.
Fantastic place for dinner or bubble tea! One of my go to places for tasty food and quality service.
I love the strawberry boba tea 🧋😍
A staple in Clifton for ages, I hadn't been back in a long while but made the trek. Intimate setting with a massive menu full of authentic Asian foods and an extensive bubble tea menu. I had the phó noodle soup and it was fantastic. My friends had hot pot and a tonkatsu noodle bowl and they loved their food as well.
Really phenomenal boba. Also really enjoyed the dinner menu and quality of food. I think this is my new favorite boba place!!!!!
Closed during posted open hours. Not sure how to rate
Has some of the best Asian food on campus. This place can not disappoint and has a menu that would take years to try everything. This place is too good not to try.
Most authentic chinese food on canpus! Love them, highly recommended!
amazing food and service. Ryan and Yvonne were friendly and attentive.
We had some dietary restrictions and appreciated that they were thorough and also asked questions to clarify.
I have a chicken allergy/sensitivity (picked up later in life) and General Tso chicken used to be a favorite dish of mine. I was pleasantly surprised and am so happy that Tea n Bowl serves and that I tried the General Tso Breaded Beef. It was seriously one of the best things I've eaten (at ANY restaurant)!
Vegetable Roti Canai was superb and was a perfect appetizer on a chilly December evening. Both Spice Level and Temperature were just what the night needed.
We took some Nasi Lemak and shrimp curry home to share with family. Both were packed well and were still hot enough to eat when we got home (about a 30 min drive).
Overall we had an awesome experience.
Oh yeah; and there's boba!!!
This place is a hidden gem. Amazing!! It’s so unassuming that when I walked in, I wasn’t sure if I was in the right place. But don’t let the decor fool you…the food is amazing, service is good and the place is clean. The menu is sooooo big and has so many different types of food (Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, etc) that I was worried the food would just be ok…because they can’t make everything good, right?? Well I was wrong. The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered eggplant in garlic sauce (served with white rice) and my husband ordered beef pho. Both dishes were amazing. Admittedly, the pho was a little different than Vietnamese pho, but I think I like tea and bubble’s version of pho better than the traditional pho. The eggplant in garlic sauce is also a little different than how the dish is traditionally served in China, but I had no complaints! Soooo good! My husband liked the eggplant in garlic sauce better than the traditional Chinese version. The serving sizes were very big and the total was $26. Please go check this place out!!
Everything is delicious and generous portion! Friendly service too!
Great food!
Today I ordered an orange chicken dinner meal as well as a general tso's dinner meal online. When I went to pick up my order I was not greeted. A female employee stared at me and asked if I had a pick up order. I told her yes and she did not hand it to me she just pointed. When I opened up my order I had rice that was overcooked, rubbery chicken, and the meals were both drowned in sauce like it was a soup. I called and explained why I was dissatisfied with the food and I was told I could bring it back for a refund. I brought it back and once again I was not greeted when I came in. After giving me the refund the same employees explained to me that if I wanted the chicken "crispier" I needed to dine in and tried to tell me that the rice was not overcooked because they used a rice cooker and therefore the rice could not be overcooked. Overall the staff was extremely rude and the food was overpriced and mediocre at best. I won't eat here again.
10/10. Super nice people and a lovely family owned business hidden here in Cincinnati
Very nice interior and that's about it. I don't know if it was the dish I got or what but it was ok. I did not get the bubble tea so I don't know if that is the real strength here. The real loss of stars here is the constant Christian music playing. They are well within their right to do so but I did not enjoy it.
Hidden Treasure! If you manage to find this gem of a restaurant, and you enjoy excellent Asian cuisine, in its authentic and fusion form, you already know that the food is above and beyond the traditional American standard! Five stars, highly recommend the Nasi Lemak if you know what this dish is, then you know that it’s made to the highest quality here!
