I came here with a friend last weekend based on his recommendation. This restaurant used to be a Thai restaurant and had either a change of ownership or expanded their menu. Anyways, when we arrived, we were welcome fairly quickly and asked where we wanted to sit. Originally, we decided the bar area but ended up moving to a table nearby. Our waiter, Sean, greeted us and provided us with 2 menus - a paper one and a more descriptive menu with pictures and ingredients. We were also served warm water with lemon in a mug. Sean was helpful in giving his recommendations when we wanted to decide our order. We ordered Veggie Egg Rolls for our appetizer. We also added on a Bonsai Roll, Cosmo Roll, Wasabi Caviar, and Quail Eggs.

We received the Veggie Egg Rolls fairly quickly. It was served fresh and hot. The pastry in itself was very flaky and I enjoyed the bite of the egg roll. It went really well with the duck sauce. Next, we received the Bonsai Roll and Cosmo Roll. The Bonsai Roll had spicy yellowtail and avocado in the middle, and was topped with albacore tuna. I really enjoyed the ponzu sauce on the side of the plate and it tasted fresh. I generally lean more towards smoked salmon when I get sushi so the Cosmo Roll was interesting. The Cosmo Roll had cream cheese and smoked salmon. The exterior of the roll was lightly fried with some tempura batter so it added some sweetness. The crunch and texture was really good. This was probably my most favorite roll of the 2.

My friend had never had caviar before so we originally ordered the black caviar because we noted that we indicated it was buttery in the menu. Unfortunately, we were informed that the black caviar had run out so they offered Tobiko (red caviar) and Wasabi Caviar. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of wasabi in excess so I was hesitant towards it. My friend, however, is a huge fan so we ended up getting it. I was very very surprised by the taste. The wasabi was not overpowering and it was surprisingly good when served with the nori. I’d love to give the black caviar a try. We also ordered quail eggs and that was new for me. They were served with the top taken off and a mixture of sauces were added on top. As soon as I took this “shot”, I made a face. I wasn’t sure if it was the mixture of sauces, but it was definitely an experience. If you’ve never had quail eggs, I’d recommend giving this a try.

Ultimately, I plan to go here again. My experience here was quite nice, and I look forward to trying other dishes. I also have to thank Sean, our waiter, for being patient and very helpful. We received top notch service from him!

From only allowed to ordering takeout back then to now dining in is an option, our experience has always been great here.

Great food & service!! We had the shrimp tempura rolls, Cosmo Roll, Crab Fried Rice, and Curry Noodle. All was great. Service was excellent as well. He even showed my kiddos how to use chopsticks. We will definitely be back.

We've tried several sushi places around McKinney and this one is by far our favorite! They have a great selection and some unique offerings. Most importantly, the servers and staff here are the absolute kindest, helpful people and recognize us when we come in now.

If you like Wasabi with your Sushi do not order from Madai or make sure you have some on hand.
We ordered $94.00 worth of Sushi for delivery. When our food arrived there was no Wasabi. I called the restaurant and talked to the Manager. When I asked him why they wouldn't include Wasabi in a $94.00 order he said that they did and he personally handed the Wasabi to the delivery person...when I asked him why would you hand a delivery person a bag of food and separately hand them a side of Wasabi instead of putting it in the bag? He just repeated his answer, when I asked the question again he refused to answer the question repeated himself and hung up the phone. Needless to say I will NOT order from them again. It is bad enough that they forgot the Wasabi but then to lie about it and with such a ridiculous lie is unforgivable!

I chose to have my mom's surprise birthday party at Madai Sushi and I could not be any happier! They were so accommodating to everything that I asked and their food was delicious. I got combination thai fried rice which tasted great and everyone else's food looked good as well! If anyone ever wants to book ahead of time they do reservations which was great planning-wise for me. Thank you so much to the staff of Madai Sushi for a great time. (They even put on the happy birthday song on their speaker system to sing to my mom) I would most definitely come back!

Madai has long been one of my local go tos for a weekday lunch break. Their Basil Thai Chicken over rice is true Asian perfection. The staff is Texas friendly and ever welcoming. They know my usual and are preparing it as a walk up to the door. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate. It's rather hidden away at the back side of the strip mall but so worth the search.

Stopped by this place the first time a couple weeks ago and it's already become a new favorite. They have an extensive menu and the food is fantastic. They are super friendly and accommodating- just ask for what you want if you have a special request or preferred cut. On quieter days, it's a laid back atmosphere. They do have happy hour during the week and serve a variety of alcohol, so unsure what this, or a weekend night looks like. Overall, a great place for sushi, poke, rolls, stir fry and more.

The Bangkok roll was delicious. Thai curry could be better - with more thicker and more gravy. Also, I think they were short staffed, though they were really trying their best!

Every time I go here the customer service is so great, always fresh sushi, and the drunken noodles are divine. Each time I come in they greet me by name and its such an inviting cozy place.

This place is not directly visible from the street, but has so many sushi options compared to our usual places! I'm very satisfied with both dine in and take out. I've been here twice now and will be back again!

This was first time we went to this Japanese and sushi bar. Although sushi looked so tempting but we decided to try other things first. So we ordered Tom-Yum soup and some dumplings. All the food tastes good and flavourful. I wish we could have said 1 on spice level. Ambience was great, colorful and clean. Cozy environment, not a big place for sitting but there was decent space. We will go again and explore some sushi 🍣.

Disappointed with the service. Only one server working, took about 10 minutes to be welcomed and given a menu. Waited about 15 more minutes while other customers were greeted promptly and given drinks. Once they took orders of two people who came in after, I left.

We absolutely love Madai! Excellent service, delicious food, great experience all around!! The waiters are very friendly and get to know you. They have our order memorized when we walk in. Very comfortable atmosphere with delicious, fresh food. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, it's all good. My go-to is the beef teriyaki and my husband loves the miso soup and sushi menu, rainbow and spider rolls in particular. Madai is a true gem to the Frisco/McKinney community 🍣

The best place for quick, fast pick up. I love their basic rolls and fried rice. They also carry a wonderful plum sake called moonstone. I personally like to pick up rather than go inside bc they have a pretty small inside and patio as well. I wouldn't recommend for a date night bc it's pretty casual but it's my favorite in West McKinney Frisco area. Like if this helped you!

Order anything but the sushi!
Their fish is bad in the raw sushi and has a very bad smell to it. Woke up with food poisoning this morning and this is the last thing I ate yesterday. Highly not recommended

We went for husband birthday because he loves Japanese food. He ordered the galamari, deep fry tofu for appetizers, the sashimi combo and tariyaki chicken bento box for the kid.
Husband loved the deep fry tofu and sashimi combo.
The customer service was good too.
The only thing I didn't give a five star is the portion of kid bento box was smaller than I expected.
Will come back again!

Good food horrible customer service, the person who answers the phone should be fired!! Not helpful didn’t send my kids rolls and when I asked to reorder was cold and rude, left my kids hungry and crying!!

The servers were so nice

they advertise being open, with the open sign on, then tell customers to leave because they close in 15 minutes. I get it, but if you don't want people walking in then turn off the open sign and lock your door and adjust your hours of operation to accommodate for cleaning and prepping for the later shift.

We dined in and the service was great, and the food was delicious. It started to get busy as soon as we got there and realized we came at the right time. It was around 6:15 on a Friday night.

It didn't take them long to have my food out so that's always a plus.

Fresh sushi!

Our go to spot, usually get the roll and fried rice and both are great. Service is also always top notch, and their prices seem right in line with what I'd expect. The only downside is they are closed Mondays, which always seems to be the day we want it! Lol

I am OBSESSED with Madai Sushi. If I could eat here 5 days a week I would. We have been ordering from here for over a year. My husband and I usually order the same thing. Not once have we ever experienced an issue with our food or service. It’s quality every single time.

Sushi chef purposely did not prepare our chirashi order and tried to blame on the server.

For my money one of the better sushi places in the area food wise. The atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired . If you want really good sushi go here

Its very delicious, to be honest. The sushi tastes good, and the sake tastes refreshing! The chocolate cake tastes fresh, and ill admit i havent tried everything, but its so good i look forward to the time i come back.
