Today I got a spider roll to go and when I got home I saw they put no roe on it at all. They've always put roe on their spider roll and their website says it includes it. That's my favorite part. Also ordered a shrimp sauce which they charge almost a dollar for and it's water consistency and almost Pepto bismol pink. I've eaten a lot of sushi in my life and have never ever had a shrimp sauce look or feel like this. Totally unappetizing and can't even stomach to try it. The picture doesn't even do it justice. This place charges way too much for their food to be acting this careless. You either get to have cheap food and cheap quality or you can have expensive food that's good quality. You can't do both. I guess I'll be taking a break from this place for awhile.

We eat here at least once week. It is family run. I have NOT seen young children working here. Communication can be a slight barrier. Everyone tries hard to make good food fast.

We ordered two Japanese Dishes to go and were quite pleased with the taste, quality and freshness of our food. The restaurant was clean, the staff were very friendly. Food was cooked to order and done within 20 minutes.
The price for our dishes were quite affordable. We will definitely make this one of our favorite food spots in Troutman.

Food was good but it was hotter inside than outside temp. Needs to turn on the AC and serve with a smile and not have your AirPods on your ears.

Kyjo's is the best Japanese Restaurant!!

They close all the time with no notice. At least 4 times in the last few months they are closed Sunday or Monday when should be open according to hours. The food portions have gone to half the size and the prices have gone up!

Think twice if you plan to dine in. We waited an hour to receive our food. They prioritize walk up to -go orders over dine in customers. One to go order arrived 30 minutes after our order was placed, then decided to eat in and they received their food 15 minutes before us. I was very unhappy with our experience.

Wanted to love it. Onion soup had a strange plastic taste. Pork Dumplings lacked flavor as did the shrimp sauce. The salad was OK. Egg Rolls seem to always be burnt.
Strong cleaning smell at times inside.

I stopped in for lunch after always passing by the place but never having time to come in and eat. It's a really small family-owned place, and they were decently busy, but managed exceptionally well for how few people they had working the front.

Everything is super affordable, and the portions are really generous. I got the Onion Soup as a appetizer, and it comes with cilantro in it. I've never seen any Japanese place add cilantro to Onion soup before, but it was the best I've ever had.

I got the Kyjo Shrimp with Noodles entrée, and it was really large for only being about $13. I feel like it's more than you would get at other places for a comparable amount of money.

I didn't get a chance to try any sushi as I was really full after what I had, but I'll definitely be back by again when I'm in the area.

Good people, great food!

When I'm in Troutman I come by this restaurant a lot. The cuisine is great and I personally believe the place to be underated. It's obviously family-owned and ran very well. The establishment is clean and you have a clear view of the chef preparing your food.

to be honest these folks do such a great job catering to the customer that I think they haven't much time for marketing so hopefully this review helps.

The staff is obviously the family and they are wonderful to talk to. The food itself is exquisite. and although I prefer the shrimp and salmon hibachi I do get their crab rangoon as well. All of the hibachi dishes are great but I like shrimp and salmon the best. The Tea is good and although I wish they had a larger selection of drinks for everyone else to choose from my go to choice is always sweet tea. I never order anything else 🤷.

typically when I call in and place an order the food is cooked and prepared within 15 minutes. The place is right off of main Street and the parking is plentiful so there's no issues getting to the place or retrieving your food once you purchased it.

If ya like sushi take the time to hit this place up. Reasonably-priced and big bites. Will definitely. go back.

Got the hibachi steak, chicken, and shrimp along with the dragon roll and the crunchy roll. Everything was fantastic, hands down the best dragon roll I've had. Definitely coming back.

Try to have lunch at this place today, and the owner completely discriminated me for having a Service Dog, at first the man inside the restaurant told me that his insurance was not able to cover my dog, in case of a possible bite, then he was yelling that my dog, was scaring customers away from his business. The local police was called, and told the restaurant owner that my dog was a certified service dog, and that it was illegal not to allow service dogs. Im a retired combat veteran, who served 20 years in service, and completed six combat deployments between Iraq, and Afghanistan. Be aware and spread the word, that this establishment is being prejudice against service dogs.

If I could give 0 I would. Gave this place 3 times to get it right and they never do. I ask for my sushi to be plated separately for a allergy issue and they didn’t not listen nor care. They have 7 and 6 year olds cleaning tables and handing out food. You think I want Cheetos finger booger picking eating kids handing me my food? You guys run a gross business and a very poor value in restaurant industry.

Love Sushi. Handing access. Bathrooms are average. Staff is thin and don't speak native English.

New restaurant to visit often

We ordered takeout/delivery tonight for the first time from this restaurant. Unbelievable!!! We ordered the the Green Tuna sushi, delish, the spring and egg rolls, delish and the hibachi chicken and steak combo…of course delicious!!! We will absolutely order from here again!!!

What a hidden gem! The lady at the counter was adorable. Hibachi steak and chicken was amazing cooked perfectly. Sane with the fried rice. Pork egg rolls took the award tho!

Unassuming location and interior but don't let that fool you. Great sushi and hibachi at a reasonable price. I only wish I lived closer so we could visit more often.

I rate my sushi restaurants in way where they're categorized. High end sushi, something you'd get in Japan, or made by authentic top notch sushi chefs. Very good sushi, something you'd get at an Asian themed restaurant where a roll will cost you $20 and the taste reflects that. Great sushi, which can be everything in between a high end restaurant and a buffet. Then lastly okay sushi, which is sushi you'd get at an American buffet or all you can eat place usually. Mostly consisting of California rolls.

This is a place that I put at the very good mark.

In blunt terms, it's an excellent place to get sushi. While it's not something you'd get in Japan, or at a top notch high-scale restaurant. It's pretty dang close, the sushi is very yummy and the price is perfect. I'd highly recommend coming here when you want a good priced yummy sushi that isn't super fancy or sit downy. Where you plan on spending $100 per person, for like $20-25 you're set and you'll be happy you came here.

Love this place however something is messed up with online orders. You get a confirmation of order but they are not working with the company anymore doing the online order. You should call it in.

Waited an hour for my food (they were not busy while i was waiting) and when I got home I found they barely gave me anything, was extremely dry and they put two ripped soy sauce packets in the bag which drenched my girlfriends food. I will not be going here again this is the 2nd time I've waited forever to get $20 worth of bland food and bad service.

Highly disappointed in the sushi i got Smoked salmon and it didn’t taste fresh at all. My tempura roll didn’t have the end shrimp pieces either.

Only Japanese place in town. Sometimes 5 star on grilled items and same on sushi. Never 5 star on both at the same time.

It was not busy and they are so bombarded with togo orders that the service is a bit slow. So if you have time and aren't in a rush. If you are call it in and pick it up. The food was very decent. I would say it's a notch or maybe two above your average Japanese take out restaurants. The sushi was really the highlight and would be the main reason you would go here over most spots!

Sushi here is great. No lie, I was actually shocked for how good it was. Sushi (exp takeout) in a small town in NC, didn't have high hopes but they are good.

It’s a quick, pleasant place to get some Asian food and conveniently downtown Troutman.

A couple of stars cause the guy was so nice. Food was gross. Hibachi steak and chicken that looked like stew it was swimming in sauce. zero vegetables a mound of inedible rice that tasted like chemicals. Not even carrots..shrimp sauce tasted like homemade mayo and thousand island. We did get a sushi roll and that was the only edible thing ordered.

We had dinner one evening at Kyjos while camping at Lake Norman. Its just a 10-minute drive from the park. They have outdoor seating so we could eat with our dog. I had hibachi and my wife got the Lotus on Fire roll. The hibachi wasn't great but the roll was pretty good. Service was decent and prices were very reasonable. I might eat here again if camping at Lake Norman, but would stick to the sushi.

Japanese options in Statesville are slim to none. I refuse to eat any at Shiki. This place has pretty good food and they have the chicken tempura sushi roll. Not only do they have it, but it’s great. I’ve been back a few times.

Sushi are best and affordable!! But no alcohol. Closed on Sundays. Come one Tuesdays or Wednesdays for 20% off for only sushi bar!

My favorite place to get sushi around the area. Definitely recommend the "tiger" and "crunchy" rolls. I like how is a family owned restaurant, it sets a welcoming atmosphere.
