It was a bloody cold Saturday evening, and we didn't have a reservation. Fortunately, when we walked in, there was a table available after a short wait. Since my friend had already been here before, I had no doubt the food would be fantastic and my expectations were absolutely met. I had the phone bo, and it was so warm and comforting that after eating it, the cold New York weather didn’t bother me at all. I absolutely loved the experience! The cocktails were amazing, the service was excellent, and the restaurant itself was quite stylish. I definitely recommend it!

The food was high end and mostly not what you find on a common menu. The taste and quality of everything that came out of the kitchen was so good we kept poking each other with a "you NEED to try this!" and the portions were not skimpy. $220 for 6 people was not bad at all too.

This place has a great diversity of Asian dishes that can serve your different tastes depending on what you’re feeling that day. My Vietnamese friends have always enjoyed the pho here, and I was pleased with the khao soi’s flavor. The service is also very attentive and caring, and there’s usually ample seating!

This was some of the best Thai food I have had here in NYC. From the crab fried rice to the chicken wings and even a Vietnamese dish such as pho was spectacular! We’ll be back to try so many more of the phenomenal dishes they have!

We got the pho with the entire beef rib, the chicken dumplings, the calamari, and the beef cubes (can’t remember the exact name). The chicken dumplings appetizer was good as is but the sauce was too vinegar-y. The calamari was cooked perfectly but was a little sweet to our tastes. The beef cubes weren’t too noteworthy. The pho with the whole beef rib is definitely the best thing they have there, the meat is fall off the bone and among the best broth we’ve EVER had, no need to add sriracha or hoisin sauce. Definitely get the pho when you come here. The service was very friendly too and had very quick service.

Food is more like pan asian than pure thai, but duck noodle and pork chop were solid. Tbh I prefer OBAO over Little Thai Kitchen. Beer, our server was very attentive and super nice.

10/10 this was my third time here, because they really are that amazing. 🤩
Came here this time for a lunar new year meal. We got the calamari (so flavorful and unique compared to calamari you might get elsewhere), Duck Khao Soi - amazing curry flavor, the duck was tender and flavorful 😍, we also got the salmon bun and the Vietnamese pork chop both which were so delicious.
The cocktails… were incredible. We got the one thousand and one night, the flunk flink and the chrysanthemum cocktail. Each one had its unique flavor and are some of the best cocktails I’ve had at a restaurant.
Last but not least, we got the mango sticky rice which was out of this world. It was the perfect combination of sweet and salty, and the mango ice cream was the best I’ve ever had.
I have no words for how good the service was. Our server was named Beer (yes like the drink), and he was professional, warm, polite and so personable. He went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and to provide the best service. The other servers were also incredibly polite and friendly. Needless to say we will be back soon! Thank you Obao Midtown and Beer for making our lunar new year this year so special :)

Quite disappointed. We were two, on a VERY cold day, they gave us a seat on the front where the wind would get while there was quite a lot of space at the back where the atmosphere is nicer..
Pho noodles were frozen and looked like chopped since they were quite short even though we ordered pho… told the service about this and they did not even manage to do discount or whatever, just an “I will talk with the chef”. Pho soup was too oily.

Walking into OBAO Noodles & BBQ, one expects a culinary journey bridging the bustling streets of Southeast Asia with the vibrant pulse of New York City. Their mission: to elevate traditional Thai and Vietnamese comfort foods with a touch of luxury and elegance, all while preserving authenticity.

However, the Pho Ga served here tells a different story. The chicken, seemingly dyed with turmeric for color, lacks any depth of flavor—an unworthy homage to the rich traditions it aims to represent. The broth, reminiscent of diluted sugar water with a mere whisper of anise, fails to deliver the robust, aromatic experience that defines a true bowl of pho.

Attempts to salvage the dish with condiments were met with further disappointment. The provided sauces, a bootleg sweet sriracha and an egg roll dip, did little to elevate the experience. It’s as if the soul of Vietnamese cuisine was lost in translation, leaving one to wonder if the ancestors are stirring in their graves.

In a city where culinary excellence is the norm, OBAO’s Pho Ga doesn’t just miss the mark—it doesn’t even come close. It’s a stark reminder that while innovation has its place, it should never come at the expense of authenticity and flavor. A return to the drawing board is not just recommended; it’s essential.

What a great spot! We got here right at 3:55pm and they were kind enough to offer us the lunch special (free appetizer on weekdays from 11:30-4) so we got chicken wings and spare rib, both delicious. I also got pork dumplings which were equally delicious. For our entrees we ordered drunken noodles and pad see iew and the flavors were on point on both. Such rich and complex taste and would recommend to anybody. My son also got a Thai iced tea which he said was perfect. Our server Rose was excellent and super sweet to us. Overall a remarkably great experience and we can’t wait to come back soon!
