No-frills storefront preparing a variety of Thai standards, including curries & noodle dishes.
We've been regulars here for years. We return for the affordable, satisfying food and the friendly service. We find them reliable for take out as well. I'm not saying it's world-class cuisine that will blow you away as a gourmet, but it works for us and a steady stream of locals patrons.
Quiet, friendly service and hearty, excellent food, at fair prices in a good location. The seating is no-frills but clean and comfortable. Highly recommend the drunken noodles and shrimp appetizer.
We love Thai food, and this place was not a disappointment!
We started with an appetizer of spring rolls, which were hot and crispy.
We both had Pad Thai with shrimp, and it was delicious.
The staff was friendly and attentive, our food arrived quickly and it was nice and warm.
It can be a little difficult to find. You can pass the sign on Merrimon if you don’t look closely. Once you are in the parking lot, you’ll wonder where the restaurant is. It is at the far end of the building. Follow the sidewalk and you will find it.
They do a good volume of takeout, and even had a Doordash delivery guy pick up an order for someone. If you can’t make it to the restaurant, you might want to consider delivery.
Now that we know where it is, we’ll be back!
This is not Thai food. This is Asian style food like you would get in the mall and everything is overly sweet and overly cooked.
I asked for Thai Spicy and there was 0 grade of spice.
I don't give a lot of negative reviews and I'm saving some of the other things that happened.
I hope this restaurant steps it up. I don't like seeing restaurants fail but I'm angry that I wasted hard earned money this evening on this meal.
Fantastic Thai food in a low key, relaxed environment. The people running the place (servers?) as so friendly, welcoming and have the nicest, calming presence. Such a relaxing vibe, that after the wonderful red curry, I could easily take a little nap. This place is a new favorite!!
Nope.
Yellow curry: too sweet. sugary sweet.
Pad see ew: the noodles were perfect, but the spices weren't dissolved, making them gritty. despite indicating I wanted the dish "medium", the dish came without heat - instead the order came with to go container of hot sauce. Odd.
The salad rolls were fine but the peanut sauce was bizarre. I don't know what it was but if there was peanut butter it was one of the last ingredients in the recipe.
The worst Thai food in Asheville.
Pad Thai with extra vegetables.
Asked what vegetables. Was given a list of 6 vegetables.
Got my to go order home and there was celery, broccoli and over cooked carrots.
Very little flavor. Called and they literally asked me to bring it back.
Frozen Thai is better than this.
Sadly I think the worst Thai food I’ve ever had. Everything was bland and overcooked and tasted like dishwater.
not worth the price, the quality of the food is just
not very good

Amazing food that comes out so fast! Very friendly nice people too. I love how much tofu there is. Thank you!
And thank you for seating us only a half hour before close, we were so hungry and you revived us!
I love these folks for consistently good quality, fresh food. I also think it is one of the best values in town.
Se lo recomiendo excelente servicio y también esta deliciosa para ser la primera vez que pruebo 🤤
Great food
Food is good and portions are fair. Drunken noodle Id say is the best you're going to get in Asheville. Better than Pons and Siam Thai imo. Love the lunch specials!
Ok so decided to try this one so to start the atmosphere is pretty dark and gloomy the people are nice and friendly very welcoming the food unfortunately is the worst thai or Chinese or Japanese I’ve ever had it’s not disgusting it’s good it’s just the last place good would probably not be back unfortunately
This was hands down the worst Thai food I’ve honestly ever had, and I’m an avid Thai food consumer (including having eaten authentic Thai). I don’t understand the high reviews at all. It arrived stone cold, and the pad Thai was dry, burnt, and flavorless. The “papaya salad” was some weird concoction of raw cabbage, overly thick green beans, overload of peanuts, whole sliced tomatoes (rather than grape), hardly any papaya, and some kind of pink sprite-tasting sauce without a hint of fish sauce and no chilis whatsoever. The fresh rolls were fine, but the peanut sauce was completely bland. The mango sticky rice had three chunks of mango (not nicely sliced thin like it should be) and was SWIMMING in coconut milk. We literally threw over half of it away because it was inedible. Please don’t waste your money and time here, there are much better Thai places in Asheville.
This is a great place for a simple, well-prepared, and inexpensive lunch. I've enjoyed all the curry dishes I've tried, and they have good spring rolls and Pad Thai. The service is always prompt, friendly, and helpful. The atmosphere is basic - it's in an older, worn building and the restaurant hasn't spent any energy on decorating. But the free parking and good location make up for any lack of decor.
Great food,we love this place!
First time here. All the food was delicious. Pork Pad Thai,Green curry was excellent. Dumplings as well. The mussels were disappointing, only given 8 or so. Broth was decent, just not alot of mussels. Service was great. The homemade hot sauce was a perfect accompaniment to the food. Not too hot but just enough. Definitely would recommend this place. No crowd whatsoever right after 5p.m.
Very reasonable price. Tom yum noodle was excellent. Great service for multi people.
We tried to eat here Monday. Knew they closed at 2:30 so rushed to get there by 2:10 for a quick bite. Manager sent the chef home so told us they were closed while other diners ate inside.
No offer to make us something quick to go, discount for next time, or any other consolation. Won't be back regardless of how good the food is.
Good eats & good oeople. It's the neighborhood place.
Food quality has gone down these last few months. They switch me and my partners spice level every single time, she orders a 3 and I order Thai hot. Today we put specific instructions in the online order to make the drunken noodles extra spicy (they gave me the blandest noodles I've ever gotten from them), and my partners food was burnt. I love this place and I hope they can figure this out.
It tastes good and the lunch price is very competitive.
My husband and I had a great first experience at Thai Kitchen. We ordered the dumplings and spring rolls first and the sauces were delicious paired with each app. My Panang curry dish was AMAZING. So creamy and the veggies were so yummy. Carrots cut into cute shapes and green beans and zucchini. The service was also excellent. Will definitely be going back.
This place is such a hidden gem. The food is soooo good. The Massaman curry slapped. The service is great, really nice people. You don’t go here for ambience & touristy food, you go because the food is awesome
Its my favorite lunch in town. One of the few places I can get a full meal for right around 10$ and the flavors are so good.
It's a very nice Thai restaurant with a lovely owner.
Got curry, drunken noodles and fresh rolls. Most flavorless Thai food I’ve had and small portions.
Really good food and friendly service.
This place is amazing! The yellow curry was awesome! The owners are really sweet and made sure everyone was taken care of even though it was insanely busy! I will be back!
Food is amazing. The owner is awesome you can tell he works really hard. Great place highly recommend.
Great food, quick service, nice staff, and cozy atmosphere! I had the Pad Thai with chicken and it was very good!
I ordered via door dash otherwise I would have requested a refund. I ordered chicken pad Thai and there was 2 small not even bite sized scraps of chicken, the noodles were stuck together and not cooked fully.
I have been a regular @TK for a while now. It’s low on ambiance but high on food & service. If you don’t mind not being in fancy then the food is totally worth it.
I ordered the dumplings and Singapore noodles. Dumplings were reheated frozen dumplings like you would get at a cheap Chinese fast food place. The Singapore noodles were a joke. No curry, no spice, no flavor. Everything was cold and tasted like 5 day old leftovers. Why have a Thai restaurant but refuse to add basic spices and serve cheap frozen appetizers? Waste of time and money.
They are fast affordable and tasty.
The best Thai food in Asheville by far!
Affordable, authentic, tastes good
This place has great employees and really good food.
I had kind of written this place off as a lower-tier option for takeout. But, I was desperate for some food recently and decided to give it another try.
Chose red curry with duck added - DIVINE.
They really knocked the duck out of the park. Papaya salad was solid and spicy as hell.
Perhaps not the Thai place of choice in Asheville, but they can do a takeout curry as well as anyone.
I really enjoyed my meal. The Panang curry was light and refreshing. Exactly what I was hoping for! Perfectly prepared with large portion (enough for multiple meals or for sharing)
They are also super sweet here!
Food was way better when Noi was there. Wherever she is I hope she’s happy.
Delicious food. Tofu appetizer was good. I had one of the duck entrees and loved it. Nice, crispy duck on fresh steamed veggies in a delicious broth. The tom yum soup was delicious also with a perfect subtle heat.
Fantastic Thai food in a low key, relaxed environment. The people running the place (servers?) as so friendly, welcoming and have the nicest, calming presence. Such a relaxing vibe, that after the wonderful red curry, I could easily take a little nap. This place is a new favorite!!
Fresh , Delicious, consistent Thai food & the sweetest staff
AVL has so many great Thai spots, but of all of them - this one uniquely nails the service and quality. Never have I had such good service in a Thai joint- and the food rocks.
Excellent Authentic Thai! A nice balance from portion to spice. I’ll be returning. This is a “must visit” for Thai enthusiasts!
The food was without taste, specially the fried rice, the Tom yum was okay but not delicious, the Thai iced tea and the Thai iced coffee has a terrible taste that couldn't drink it, personally I don't recommend this restaurant.
I got the wide Noodle dish, some chicken wings and a soup.
It seemed quite overpriced for what I got! But that's Asheville.
The wings were tiny for the price, but for the record delicious.
The noodles were dry and tough and there was no sauce on them. The veggies in the dish were absolutely raw. I'm ordering cooked food so I don't want completely raw broccoli and carrots and undone noodles with no dressing.
The seafood coconut "lemongrass" soup was pretty awesome. Good amt of seafood. But I didn't taste any lemongrass in it.
They do okay for dietary restrictions but you should definitely scour your food and not trust that they got it right and didn't contaminate just to be safe.
I ordered thru Door dash and the food was not great at all.
Very disappointed in there dish's.
Probably one of the best meals I have had in a while! Every bite was delicious. The portions were well distributed, some of everything in each bite. The price is reasonable, and the service was very fast and friendly. I definitely recommend checking this place out.
Wonderful atmosphere. Great service.
Very good food. Pad Thai is fire!
We had take out. Food very tasty and it didn't take long to cook food.
Really great hole in the wall thai place. Will be returning when I'm in town.
Terrible. Pad Thai was so burnt it was inedible. Complete waste of time and money.
Best curry in town!
Very average food and overcooked.
Great portions and great prices! I grabbed take out and they even remembered the utensils. Very kind service and great quality food for a reasonable budget.
Nicest people, super helpful, good food, good price
Food is excellent!
Highly recommended
Had to wait an extra ten to 20 minutes for may be a little racist
We've been regulars here for years. We return for the affordable, satisfying food and the friendly service. We find them reliable for take out as well. I'm not saying it's world-class cuisine that will blow you away as a gourmet, but it works for us and a steady stream of locals patrons.
Delicious curry, well priced & perfect portions! The service was excellent as well.
Been coming here for years, but haven't been in several months. Got takeout, and have to say the quality has really gone down. Many things overcooked. Sad, because this used to be our favorite thai place.
We had the pad Thai, the satay chicken, and the fresh rolls and all was delicious! The Satay Chicken was a family favorite
The Penang curry is the best, especially with extra veggies.
We love Thai food, and this place was not a disappointment!
We started with an appetizer of spring rolls, which were hot and crispy.
We both had Pad Thai with shrimp, and it was delicious.
The staff was friendly and attentive, our food arrived quickly and it was nice and warm.

So delicious! Everything was fresh and not heavy. Don't miss out on the mango sticky rice. Just wow.
I get food from here regularly because it's right around the corner from where I live. It's a small operation and the person who answers the phone, takes orders, brings out food, and brings the bill is very friendly. They food comes out very quickly (often less than 15 min from ordering). My only complaint is the lack of vegetables. I've tried many of the dishes and the entrees are mostly broth or noodles. Tonight I ordered the Yellow Curry because I was craving potatoes. I sifted through the entire container of curry and found one single piece of potato. It is quick and tasty but lacking on vegetables.
Absolute worst Thai food we've EVER had. The shrimp smelled awful and were overcooked, and Pad Thai eggs and noodles were burnt black. I've never seen anything like it.
Consistently amazing food and wonderful staff. I love this place and try to find any excuse I can to have lunch here!
I moved away from North Carolina over a decade ago now and I STILL think about the chicken pad Thai from this place. It was always SO GOOD!!! Miss it!
Service was excellent and the food was delicious. I was unsure about what to get so I tried the singapore noodles, and they were awesome. You could really taste the curry. The noodles weren't super spicy, but our server brought us some sauce to add that gave it a little extra kick. The mango sticky rice was also really good!
Nice people running the place. Space is low key and private enough to talk with your friends. Food good and reasonably priced. A very popular local Thai restaurant for carry out. Size: The 9 tables & 30 chairs are nicely spaced apart.
Fresh and tasty food. I always feel like I am being welcomed into someone's home. The salmon is delicious with any dish!
My wife and I love the little hole in the wall places that just have great food. We have eaten at DTK many times, going back to when it was Noi's. Love love LOVE the food! We have never been disappointed. Always terrific vegetarian food at a price that won't break the bank. The best compliment we can pay is coming back year after year. Don't ever change guys!
We've always had a great experience at dtk kitchen. Take out has been reliably great and our dining experiences have always been relaxing and tasty.
Food is excellent. Good little hole in wall.
Excellent 👍😊 loved the Spring rolls with peanut sauce! Tried the sweet sticky rice with coconut milk & mango for dessert, delicious 😋 Will recommend!
Please put your actual kitchen closing time on the website. Do you normally refuse orders 15 minutes before close? If so, then 8:45 is closing instead of 9.
Nope.
Yellow curry: too sweet. sugary sweet.

My favorite Thai food in Asheville. I've been coming here once in awhile for years and it's been consistently delicious. I could eat the Tom Yum soup every day.
We stopped by for lunch today. The food and service was wonderful. I especially liked the Bangkok fresh rolls. They are light and refreshing. We look forward to coming back soon.
a favorite place for me to get my version of thai food.
Really good Thai food.
Sorry for the bad review. I'm a Thai fanatic and if I was to list the 50 something different Thai places I've eaten at up and down the east coast in order of best to worst, this would be in the bottom 10. The noodles I had were just flavorless which is really weird with Thai food. It was basically soy, grease, and noodles with a weird bland flavor.
Service was ok, food was great as always. Wonderful menu options. Pad Thai is always a great choice.. the ginger lemon tea is incredible. Laid back and casual.
This place has excellent food but be aware their lunch special portions are extremely small.
Service prompt , and the , Price Right , food is OK Stephen the owner is great. Go there!
Excellent and thoughtful service. Thank you for a very nice dining experience.
Delicious every time. Every. Time.
Super cool local thai place. They seem busy most times I have been!
Really well prepared food. The pad thai is good. It goes well with a nice cold Iced Thai.
I had the yellow curry with chicken and it was excellent. Ate outside with the kids and had a wonderful time. They loved their seafood platter.
We are regulars. Food always delicious, service very good. Family place.
Sadly my experience and food wasn't great. I'm not one to post negative, but hopefully the management/owner will see this.
I'm from out of town and love Thai cuisine, my sister thought to try this due to decent reviews. I walked in to order to go and was just greeted by "are you picking up?". No greeting, just a quick in a hurry attitude. Then I take a moment to order and walk a few steps to counter were another employee is texting on their phone, then looks up to help me. Sadly my experience with staff was a feeling of rushed and impersonal, no genuine friendliness. The food was bland, no spice or flavor and I wasn't asked how I wanted it. I got Kee Mao. I hope this translates to bettering customer focus. Maybe one day I'll try it again.
First time there, got Pad See Ew and it was dry and the noodles were chopped up into little 1inc bits. Looks like from others reviews that some of their other dishes are much better. I’d try again with a curry or something but definitely better places to get Pad See Ew in town. Friendly staff, good covid precautions. Large portion for $15- will probably be lunch tomorrow.
The Thai kitchen has delicious and very authentic fresh Thai food. The service is good and you get excellent value for money. Highly recommend.
Great food. The laarb and seafood salad were both delicious. Service was equally as good.
Great food at location away from long waits and crowds common to downtown area.
Long time fans. Wonderful hosts. Always delicious.
Best Thai in Asheville! And great about making sure things are vegan.
We really liked this restaurant
Vegetables in my stir fry were cut really large to make the disappear bigger than it was in caused the vegetables to be undercooked. Also the jasmine rice they gave me was overcooked and had no trace of the signature fragrance. Portions were small but the dish was priced accordingly. I might try them again at dinner since I came in towards the end of their lunch this visit
Not the fastest, but worth the wait.
Boring bland food
Food was delicious, ginger tea amazing, the staff was friendly and helpful. A real neighborhood gem
I was surprised with the taste! Great Pad Thai and Green Curry!
Great food, good service.
A local favorite for Thai
One of my favorite Thai taste in N. Asheville
Pad Thai and spring rolls takeout were very good.
Food was burnt. Tasted horrible and there were burn marks all over the pad Thai. We used to visit frequently, but not anymore.
I got take out, very fast. Food taste dry and slightly burnt. I got the Pad Thai, it looks ok, but there's burnt marks. I wish I had looked at it before I left.
Very nice, very clean! The green curry was amazing!! I will ask for extra tofu and for the veggies to be cooked a little longer next time but it was so damn good!! I want more now!! The service was spot on. They have made a loyal customer of me! Can't wait to try more things from here!
I love this place! The food is delicious and consistent and everyone who works there is wonderful. It's my favorite place for Thai in the north Merrimon/ downtown area.
Fresh, quick, carefully packed to go. Great takeout!
The food here is delicious and affordable. The best Thai place I've been to.
Great food, great service, quick and easy! Pad Thai (n-1) is not spicy, more savory and delicious with shrimp!
The Pad Thai is incredible. We've been to several places for the same dish, and this is by far among the top. Savory and filling, no spice heat.
Great vegan options.
We absolutely love Thai Kitchen and would like to consider ourselves regulars. The staff is friendly and remember us and the food is amazing. I never liked mango sticky rice till I had it here.
Fast service and an intuitive menu with great visit service from curbside or pickup. My go-to for Asian cuisine and never causes stomach aches like other take-out places.
This is my favorite Thai restaurant in AVL! Always friendly with wonderful dishes! My top favorite dishes are the tom ka soup with shrimp, the pad ke mow and the spicy green curry. And the Thai iced tea is always delicious.
Good thai food from a hole in the wall place that's ready as ordered! 😁
Small portions for the price not as authentic/tasty, better options around town. Place needs to be cleaner.
Best authentic Thai food! Absolutely love the dishes and especially dessert- try the mango sticky rice! I come back every time I go to Asheville.
Amazing, great food and people. Great vegan options! Favorite place in town!
Great Food!! Nice People!!
Our go to for take out. Fresh veggies always, delicious always.
We saw they were a new restaurant on GrubHub a few months back and I wanted to give it a shot. This place is sooooo good! We've ordered from here a handful of times and it's always amazing. Probably my fave Thai restaurant. It's not that pricey and you get a huge amount of food. We always have left overs. Would def recommend!
A friendly place with a broad selection, reasonable prices, and generous portions.
This is really good Thai food at good prices.
Great food, great service
I made a reservation for 9 and I am glad I did! It wasn't crazy busy but there is only one spot they can fit a group that large. The server was very friendly and attentive. He gave us space to talk but made sure we had everything we needed. The food is fantastic. Everyone enjoyed their meals from the curry to drunken noodles. Splitting checks was quick and easy. The prices are lower compared to other thai restaurants in town, which we appreciated! We are already planning our next trip there.
Great food. Great prices
The green curry and pad Thai were just ok.
Real Thai food. The staff was very nice and took great care of my family while we were there. Dumplings are a highlight!
Honestly some of the best food in Asheville, as long as you like fresh vegetables, amazing exotic flavors, and the friendliest staff in town. I could absolutely eat here every day. A nice range of options, nothing over-the-top, but you couldn't possibly be disappointed. This is exactly what I'm looking for when I'm looking for Thai food. These are authentic Thai flavors, if you ask me. Incredible prices, as well.
I just tried the Sushi here for the 1st time since the Sushi is fairy new at this location. I asked for a sushi with crab meat, the Chef recommended the Spider Roll which was delicious. There are many options on this new menu. The prices a very reasonable and I’d definitely pay more. I have to say I’d never been impressed as now with eel sauce, yummy. LOVE the Pad Thai and Tom Yum soup from here. The proportions are sizable and I always have leftovers for the next day that reheat well. The people who work here are very genuine and pleasant. It’s a clean and friendly atmosphere.
I had the green curry with chicken. It was just the right amount of spicy, and it was a sizable portion of chicken veggies and rice. It’s very tasty too.
The staff was quick and friendly. I highly recommend this place.
Magnificent
Phenomenal food, good prices
Not worth the price. Seafood dish was 1 mussel and two shrimp.
By far my favorite Thai restaurant in Asheville. My friends and I go close to twice a month and we are never underwhelmed.
Love going here for my lunch breaks! Very tasty dishes that are very affordable and the staff is also very friendly.
Good, solid Thai food
I had a delicious cashew nut dinner. Nice place, great service. Would definately come back.
I love they drunken noodles, for dessert sweet sticky rice.
Food was okay. Pretty pricey for the serving size.
Though small and rather humble Thai Kitchen now boasts the very best sushi in town. And I'm not talking about deep fried rolls full of avocado cream cheese and drizzled with mayonnaise. I mean truly fresh Sashimi cut with perfection. So fresh and flavorful you can be a purist and skip dunking in wasabi soy. I am not a big fan of tuna or avocado to start with but this appetizer was so perfectly put together with paper-thin slices of jalapeno adding just the right spice and whatever the sauce was added the perfect amount of sweetness my goodness was it good.
