Thai Restaurant. Variety of made fresh thai dessert everyday
Wait was too long at saranrom Thai so we went here instead ~
Ordered the chef special and the braised pork was very soft and tender. It came with a spicy sauce that was very delicious! My friend said the food tasted like something off the streets from Thailand 😋
The only negative thing is that the drinks were too sweet :( unsure if u can adjust the sugar level
Everything we got was amazing!! Since it’s on the lane with so many other Thai restaurants Khao Nom still manages to stand out!! They specialize more in appetizers and rice dishes here as well as their dessert menu.
Tip: if windows are open and you’re sitting by there, don’t have your bag/ phone so close to it where someone can steal / run with it bc that happened to someone here before which the waitress was giving us this advice. Super helpful and thankful for her on the heads up!!
They also give you a wide range of home made Thai sauces which were also great but didn’t like that it was on the sweeter side of the spectrum
We got:
- crispy tofu skin 4.5/5: enjoyed this a lot, skin was perfectly crispy and very meaty, could’ve been a 5/5 if the sauced it paired with was more sour than sweet
- corn fritters 4/5: not sure if this dish was always around but I’ve seen this at more Thai restaurants more often nowadays and if it was my first time eating it maybe i would’ve been more impressed. But fried corn fritters here were too fried and can taste the oil but the sauce makes it better. But still sweet here too
- spring rolls 4.5/5: these were sooooo good, easily a 5/5 if the sauce was made better! Crispy, juicy, meaty, and flavorful!
- pork belly and rice 4.5/5: soo good too, the pork belly here actually paired with the sauce very nicely!
- Thai ice tea 5/5: perf milk to condense milk ratio
We were also so sad the pandan dessert was sold out!! Will def come back to try that next time.
Second time here - I liked how they serve all the staple Thai foods, the rice, fried and soup noodles. Had the shrimp paste fried rice and kuey teow tom yum soup - both were really good. Mind you “spicy” is really spicy. It’s really nice as well that they make a lot of different kinds of desserts. We tried the Tokyo pandan which is an egg roll with pandan filling and it was a nice snack. Would definitely come back again! Very friendly owners and chill cafe vibe.
I ordered takeout from Khao Nom and the order was ready relatively quickly (10-15 minutes).
🍗 BBQ Chicken: I feel like the skin could have been a lil bit crispier but the chicken tasted good. Dip it in the spicy roasted rice sauce (this is what they called it) and you’ll get a lil spice that is light and a great complement to the chicken and rice.
🍰 Thai Pandan Layer: I’m gonna be honestly, the pandan flavor was there but for some reason, it felt a bit artificial. Perhaps it was the jelly itself, I’m not sure. But they were soft and slightly chewy - easily melts in your mouth with just a couple bites.
I should have been given the choice regarding how much I will give for the tip😉
Our friend group would often gather at Khao Nom.Cozy and comfortable atmosphere with great food.
Bad service and the chairs are so uncomfortable. The waitress was so rude from the start. I was polite and just chalked it up to grumpy people working.
Why are they treating customers like that?
I'm not sure why the waitress was so rude. I felt it right away when I was placing our orders. No smile and with a hint of disdain. I've always felt they were not super friendly but today I felt animosity. I brushed it off since I like their food. Then I started watching her with the other customers and she was full on smile and very nice and laughing with them. I continued to look and I realized she really is just acting this way with us. Is it bc we're not Thai? This really soured our dining experience.
I ordered 3 main dishes, a drink and side order and water for the table. The first 2 dishes I said mild, no black pepper. Obviously we don't want spicy. The last dish was the pad Thai and I forgot to say mild. She didn't ask either. Everything else was fine and my pad Thai was spicy on fire. I couldn't eat it but I didn't bother saying anything bc I already feel this bad attitude so I don't want to deal with it.
I think I would have been fine if she didn't smile at everyone else but bc it was only towards us, it made us feel unwelcome. Needless to say I tipped the bare minimum and I won't be back again. Sad bc I liked their food but there's plenty other Thai restaurants nearby.
cozy & delicious

I went to this Thai restaurant during a tough time in my life. I was seven weeks pregnant, and my doctor had just told me things weren’t progressing as they should. Hoping to distract myself and feel better, I decided to have a meal at a spot I used to like. Turns out, that was a big mistake—one I deeply regret.
When I walked in, I wanted to order something to-go for my husband before sitting down to eat. They had pre-cooked dishes displayed on the counter with price tags, so I picked one and told the girl that I was dining in, but the dish I picked was for my husband, and I wanted it packed to-go. I didn’t ask about the price since it was clearly marked next to the food. When the dish was ready, I noticed they served it on a plate instead of packing it up. I kindly reminded them it was supposed to be to-go. That’s when I saw the first eye-roll and heard some annoyed muttering as they repacked the dish.
After they finally packed it, I paid with my card and sat down to order my own food. While waiting for my meal, I happened to check the receipt and saw that they had charged me more than the price displayed on the counter. When I went back to ask about the difference, the girl said they charged me the dine-in price because they thought it was a dine-in order. Nobody mentioned a price difference before charging me, even though I’d made it clear from the start that it was to-go. Still, I didn’t want any drama—I was early in my pregnancy and just trying to stay calm. I simply said, “Oh, okay. I’m fine with the extra charge; I see you added more vegetables than what’s on display.” I thought that was the end of it.
But as I turned to go back to my table, the two staff members started yelling at me. They accused me of making the wrong order in the first place, raising their voices and throwing in some eye-rolls and smirks for good measure. I couldn’t believe it—I wasn’t even arguing with them! I’d already agreed to the price. I tried to explain, but they wouldn’t listen and kept yelling like mean girls straight out of a high school movie. I started shaking from the stress and anger.
I asked to speak to the manager, but one of the girls smugly told me she was the manager. At that point, I completely lost trust in the place. The argument dragged on for 15 exhausting minutes, during which they finally admitted they were just “defending themselves.” They offered a weak apology but kept smirking and rolling their eyes.
Eventually, another staff member came out of the kitchen to talk to me. She was more polite and apologized, saying, “They’re just young.” While I appreciated her effort, the damage was already done. I asked for the names of the two girls and the contact information for the owner, but I didn’t have much hope for any resolution after learning one of the rude girls was supposedly the manager.
A week later, I suffered a miscarriage. I will never know to what extent the emotional distress of that day contributed to the outcome, but the experience continues to haunt me. Even now, more than six months later, I find myself awake at 5 a.m., replaying the events in my mind. I didn’t contact the owner, though I’m surprised at myself for not doing so. I tried to chalk it up to young people making mistakes, but deeply in my heart I know I will never forgive them.

Tasty! The fried shrimp paste was really good.
Very tasty food! The fried shrimp paste appetizer is incredible.
Big fan of the sister restaurant next door as well (more budget friendly and bigger portions)
Food was really good. We had fried pork belly over rice and pork jowl

Pork jowl and the fried pork belly were absolutely fantastic! Great cozy spot, awesome dessert menu!
While dining at Khao Nom, found the environment and food to be extremely well made. Our waitress was extremely helpful and respectful, really enjoyed her helping us with our non decisive food orders. Will be coming back as it is a great alternative to the other local Thai spots.
The food was great and the place is very cozy and cute! Good service! Not many veggie options
Amazing amount of options and everything is authentic
Great tasting and affordable Thai spot that you order Panda Express style. Got grounded pork, fried fish, and braised pork belly with eggs over rice. Thai iced coffee and tapioca dessert were amazing as well. Would definitely come back again
Will be back for desserts and other dishes.
Best Thai food in NYC! Huge spectrum of rice dishes, soup options and stir fries. I’ve tried at least fifteen things off the menu and never had something I didn’t love. To top it off, the tea and coffee drinks are inexpensive and there’s a wide assortment of desserts. Highly recommend if you’re hungry in Jackson Heights!!
Always my go to for Thai crispy pork basil! The best!!!!!!!!
Diverse menu of desserts you don’t find in many Thai restaurants. The mixed pork dish was delicious with roast pork and crispy pork belly and a delicious black sweet dipping sauce, alongside sweet sauce, hard boiled egg, cucumbers, and a light cleansing broth. I’m a fan and I will come here again to try their other dishes.
Beware: almost all items on the vegetarian menu contain fish sauce. Was my favorite place to have veg Thai food before I found out :(
Good food
Delicious food and service! I highly recommend.
It is good
the food was delicious
Yummy Food & delicious dessert!
Love dessert and food :D
Crispy pork is the best in the little Thai town.
I would give zero if I could. I came there with my friends and we only want to get Thai dessert. We were forced to order at least one order per a person if you don’t want to order any food. You have only 15 minutes for dine-in. We ordered ice cream. We only have 10 minutes to finish our ice cream because server already took 5 minutes from us to prep&serve. We were so uncomfortable and not enjoyed at all.
Moreover, the server was rude and gave us her attitude. Definitely, we won’t be back and not recommend this place to anyone.
Absolutely rude staff!!
The staff is always yelling at one another, but the food is undeniably good, and that's what keeps me coming back.

My wife and I FINALLY found true authentic Thai cuisine. If you are accustomed true this flavors, this will be your place. If you want American-Thai flavors and dishes, then I don’t recommend this place because you may not understand the cooking behind it. This restaurant does not sell typical curry, Papaya salad, and altered Pad Thai.
For example, if you want True or close to true Italian food, go to Little Italy in Manhattan but if you want American-Italian then Olive Garden will the place.
nice people nice food
Experienced absurdly rude and demeaning staff + mediocre food
Thai street dish and dessert ! Not tasty at all . So disappointed
Cool place. The vibes, feels like home.
Wow, The Food was Awesome!! Prices are good, Authentic Thai food... Will be back over and over
Dusts on the plates. The food is okay. The seating is very small and some might find them little uncomfortable to sit. The plates are not clean, they have dusts build up. When the first dish arrived. I quietly told the waitress and politely inform her that there is dusts on the plate. I didn’t want other customers hearing it for the staff and the restaurant’s sake. And it is okay, I am fine with it. But please for the next dish please wash it with water before putting the food on it. That’s all I asked. But she unnecessarily try to control the situation by saying you can add chili pepper powder to the sauce. And she started putting the chillies in my sauces. Which I still don’t mind. I am very compliment person. And I am used to visiting Asia and eating at restaurants don’t have city health rating systems.
When the other dish came, the dusts are there again… all they had to do was just put the plate under the running faucet water. Then put the food on it. It’s not that difficult. Instead of trying to brush off what the customer is asking, they should have brushed off the dusts off the plate instead.
SO cute! Their pandan desserts hit particularly hard. Loved all the things we tried and wish we had more stomachs to try it all. It would be such a cute date spot for friends or a date!
Pretty tasty food and Thai desserts
I’ve been ordering both dine in and delivery exactly the same dish (ka prow moo grob) for years (with instructions saved in the restaurant ordering system says NO BELL PEPPER) and there was one time they accidentally put bell pepper in my dish, the lady who took my order promptly apologised with a sincere voice and I got a replacement in a few.
But today, another waitress was quite rude, I called back to let them know I got a bell pepper in my food again, she asked me, so, what do you want to do? She even awfully asked me to just take it out since they wouldn’t sub anything extra for not taking the peppers anyway. I told her I’m allergic to bell peppers, and need a new one. She said ok, with a voice like talking to her friend (we’re both Thai, so I know the way she talk is informal). Moreover, after few minutes, she called back telling me a delivery guy is on his lunch break, so I have to wait till he finish his meal (I feel bad for him though). Finally a food came and I returned the wrong one back to a delivery guy.
I don’t understand how can a restaurant hire a person who has this attitude to work for them. It’s like she has never been trained about food safety at all. Asking customer so what? What you wanna do? Instead of offering a way out is definitely not professional. Things can escalate if I got so allergic and have to see a doctor. Hope the owner will train their employees to be more cautious and better manners.
New York dining is expensive, we know this, and the quality and portions have gone down, rents are through the roof and profit margins for restaurants have plummeted. So restaurants must do what they can to survive. Understandable. But!
We went to this place today, we had come from far, we were in queens for a great authentic Thai meal. This place is close to many other Thai places, we deliberated carefully and finally walked into this one. We got 4 dishes, nothing tasted right! The sauces didn't strike a balance and tasted off, the savory things were way too sweet, everything was greasy, even the white rice. We felt queasy afterward. It was yet another disappointment, only a fantasy of great Thai food. Two questions still remain in my mind, 1. why were so many people there and 2. how does this place have 4.6 rating? I will never know, what I do hope is that people like us will be spared.
P.s. Thank you to the servers, the service was great.
I’ve been wanting to go here for years, and it did not disappoint. Not only was the food *amazing,* the service was impeccable. Our waitress recommend the best dishes and desserts and told us all about the restaurant and Thailand. She knew it was my first time there and how excited I was to try the food, so I feel like she made my experience extra special.
I wish this restaurant wasn’t so far from where my husband and I live because I’d go back every day.
Very good food with lots of flavor. The space is a little small but they have plenty of seats. Take out as well, I recommend looking over the desserts
Recommended by a Thai friend for its authenticity and desserts. Was not disappointed. The food was so good I had to stop eating multiple times to enjoy the flavors. Service is amazing and it's a really cute place for lunch too. Definitely would come again.
The food here is so good that I hate when I get full and have to stop eating! But save room for dessert because they have many choices. The people are nice. “Medium” is pretty spicy. It reminds me of the best smaller restaurants in Thailand.
Great authentic Thai restaurant. The Tom Yum Noodle Soup and Chicken Khao Soi are really good here. Mango catfish salad is also one of the best. They also have amazing Thai desserts.
Portions are small. Not much variety of classics. It’s an okay place to have good Thai food.
Absolutely recommended.
The chairs and benches are so uncomfortable..
Friendly staff and such good casual thai food without the frills
A lot of desert selection. Thai street food at affordable price.
Amo venir a este lugar. Disfrutar de una buena comida. Atención y los postres.
Super recomendado
Great place. Excellent food … the shaved ice dessert … the best
I've been going to Spicy Shallot for years and decided to give this place a try since I'm always passing by. The food here blew me away. Much better that Spicy Shallot or anything in the area, the place is more intimate, price is great for the quality and the desserts are amazing.
Came here on a Wednesday at 8 PM and it was empty. I loved how they have desserts and some to go food platters on display. We ordered the Thai iced tea, Thai iced coffee, hoy jor, pork skewers, kuay tiew tom yum, and mango sticky rice. I loved the shaved/cubed ice they put in the drinks! For the appetizers, I’d recommend the pork skewers as they were huge and super tender. The kuay tiew tom yum was also really good if you like a sour tasting broth. The mango sticky rice also really hit the spot. I’d return to this place to try the other appetizers, entrees, and huge variety of Thai desserts. CASH ONLY 4.4/5
Actually I came to Khao Nom so many times for takeout. Mostly i buy their desserts but they also selling food. Today i decide to try plus my friend tell me the food is pretty good. I order crispy pork belly with Chinese broccoli medium spicy ( this place makes food as Thai spicy level so if you order very spicy it is crazy spicy, lol) food came very fast. I just to go inside to order by myself but they serve the food to my table. They only accept cash or zelle.
I love the way they assembled my meal. I had a vegetarian option as well as some desserts that were made available. The service was good. The server came by a few times to check on us and refill our water.
Really nice service. Foods amazing and surprisingly affordable too!
One of the best thai restaurants in Queens. Will definitely come back.
Great food, good service and cozy setting. Definitely worth the money
Great thai desserts!
I got some Thai desserts here. It was very good. BUT no hospitality. I walked in, said hi. They just glared at me. Tried to have a conversation but they didn’t seem to like it. Very disappointed. I always love to support Thai people and businesses. But I won’t come back here.:(
Cozy, quick authentic Thai food and sweets. Interesting atmosphere
Amazing food!
I got the tamarind egg, ground pork w/ Thai basil, and water chestnuts for dessert and it was all absolutely delicious! FYI medium spicy was on the upper edge of what my western mouth could handle.
As I continue to my journey to find the best Khao Soi dish in NYC, Khao Nom stays on top. It is a beautiful and perfectly made dish, highly recommend. I write this as I eat a decent Khao Soi from another restaurant... it is good, but nothing like Khao Nom! Sends me back to Northern Thai, authentic as can be, no frills!
thank you Khao Nom! Can't wait to come by again soon.
Hot summer day, place was empty, went in for a quick refreshing dessert in a cup with shaved ice. We both sat down to enjoy it and was asked to leave by a rude waitress. We had to buy more stuff to stay and enjoy our dessert. BTW, place was empty.
Dessert was not good and staff are very rude. Wanted to come back for dinner but avoid this place... not worth it!
Khao = Rice in Thai
Nom = Snack in Thai
This is one of the best authentic Thai restaurants that we really love to visit. Eventhough this neighborhood is called "Little Thai Town" and surrounded by a lot of Thai restaurants, this restaurant is outstanding. The food taste is authentic as well as the taste of the Thai snack.
If you love spicy food, I recommend "Ka Prow Moo Krob" And spicy drunken noodles (Pad Kee Mao) and the spicy Tom Yam noodles. The appetizer on Shrimp Pancake (Tod mun Kung) is also good. The Thai dessert such as "Tub tim Krob" is also good. Thai Ice tea is a must and it will get along very well with your spicy menu. They also accepted the credit card for the order over 10.
A good food, affordable price
Very good food
Good Thai food. I like to come here with friends for dinner.
Bring extra money if you decide to eat here, they recently raised their already high prices even higher, $2 across the board on all items. I wouldn't normally mind, but the portions are very small to begin with. Sadly, this is a new trend where greed has taken over and ruined a business. I won't be back after getting surprised with the menu shock.
I don’t know how could they get so many good reviews. The food is terrible and waitresses are not friendly at all! There are so many good Thai places around the corner, if you haven’t been there, just don’t go!
This is my absolute favorite local restaurant! The nicest staff and it feels like home. We get the mock duck (lifelong vegetarians) and it is always amazing! Their Thai iced tea and pretty plants make august in ny enjoyable. On a street filled with Thai restaurants this one is the best!
Great restaurant. They have hard to find Thai traditional dessert and dishes. Quick service. Limited seating.
I can’t believe how authentic and affordable
This Khao soi is!! So grateful for this place.
Affordable Thai cafe with dessert, confectionaries, tea/coffee/traditional Thai drinks. There are also I've cream with Asian flavors. Think of it like Thai version of Chinese cafe (Fay Da & Taipan bakery).
Ready to take out food available always.
We love this place! Foods are delicious 🤤 friendly stuff and great service 😇 we definitely be back!! อาหารอร่อย ถูกใจมากกกก พนักงานน่ารักและยิ้มแย้มแจ่มใสมากๆ ขอบคุณนะคะ ♥️🙏
Our family came here with Joe DiStefano on food tour of Southeast Asia. This is where we finished the tour with delicious authentic Thai dessert. Thai Taco!! both hard & soft variety filled with egg yolk and some with salt coconut and others light cream filling. I also ordered on my own chestnut 🌰 (red) + coconut milk served over shaved ice- it was soooo good!!! *They only have tacos on weekends and you need to call in advance to order them - especially on HOT days - they will not stay fresh - so they are made to order - if you are lucky they will make a large batch when they get an order and have some left over for walk-ins! So if you see them GET THEM!!! This is also a good spot for authentic Thai lunch or snack. Very friendly & welcoming. Clean bathroom. Outdoor & indoor seating available.
Very nice dessert and sweets. I have never tried their savory food so this rating is purely for the sweets and drinks.
They have a large and very nicely decorated outdoor seating area - post covid.
Still easily top 3 Thai places in NYC, money goes further here than 90% other Thai places, food is more legit and true to Thai roots......spicy means THAI spicy, be warned haha xD I'm conflicted because I really want this place to be out there and want everyone to know how delicious this place is .......but I also love that it's not crowded and I don't have to wait! It's awesome!
They've got a cute little setup for outdoor dining which is more spacious than the interior, they also have been doing grab-and-go, pre-packaged, freshly made meals (mine was still hot) at just $10, some even less. We bought the pork basil, steamed chicken with rice and pandan crepe ($5).
The chicken dish was unfortunately dry and underwhelming , so give this a skip. The basil pork was delicious, the egg on top was perfectly gooey and the pandan crepes were extremely good (a bloody steal at just $5!!!!!!). If you don't know what pandan is, your mind is about to be blown ;)
This restaurant deserves more attention and I know New Yorkers love their Thai food, so why not indulge in quality at a low price? Be sure to stop by and don't forget cash :D
If you’re going for boilerplate American Thai food, this isn’t it. They have an unusual menu that sets them apart from other phenomenal Thai restaurants in the neighborhood. The portions were generous, and the food was beautifully rich. Our service was fast and friendly, and the prices were very reasonable. We would definitely come back.
Food is really good I recommend 😋
I can't believe this place is not more popular! Probably because it's around the corner from the main street.
Very delicious, and they have this weekday lunch special for $15 which includes a soup, select main course and a dessert. Such a great deal and everything on the menu is so tasty!
They even have menu items like grilled pork on a stick, with sticky rice - which is very common and popular street food in Thailand. Especially in the Isaan region. Ah, memories of my childhood :)
Delicious food, friendly and attentive service made for a great experience.
Nice dessert and very good food
Love their Crispy Pork with Basil 🤤
Khao Nom is one of best Thai restaurants in the neighborhood. The interior decor is simple and lovely with vintage style adornment. We had a lunch with friends last week at their outdoor dining and it’s cozy with strong heater.
We had 2 small plates to share as appetizers, Crispy Crab Spring Roll and BBQ Pork Jowl. For entree, we ordered 2 bowls of Tum Yum Noodle Soup, 1 Grilled Fish Salad and 1 Chicken Yellow Curry Noodle. The food was amazingly delicious and our favorite was the Tum Yum Noodle Soup, which was flavorful with lots of ingredients.
Their service was friendly, attentive and reacted to all the requests quickly. We founded a iron string in the pork jowl and the staff served us a new one immediately with apologies.
There is a great variety of Thai pastries and desserts. We brought home a cup of mini taro cake and it was so good. We definitely will try other options shortly.
The yummiest Thai place in elmhurst.
Must try their tum yum soup, so delicious!
Bbq pork is delightful!
Spring rolls are crispy!
authentic thai :) great food and desserts.
This are should really be called Little Thailand. There is a thai restauant every where you look.
Food 5/5
DELICIOUS and so REASONABLE! Every entree is about $10 to $13 and MASSIVE PORTIONS! My favourite is the stir fried crispy pork belly with rice. OMGGGGG.... there is also a vegetarian section on the menu. And if you love thai desserts, this will be the place you definitely want to check out.
Service 5/5
Friendly, healful and quick! Thai hospitality at its best!
Ambiance 5/5
Heated outdoor seating with glass partition. Doors are kept open so this is a real outdoor dining area. Everyone was weating a mask.
My favorite Thai restaurant in this neighborhood!
