Classic Thai & Malaysian cooking plus cocktails & wine in a polished space with a waterfront patio.
Just came here for valentines day with my girlfriend. Online it said nothing about only have the prix fixed menu. Once we got here we were told that we couldn't order off the regular menu. So we went with it. Apps were fine then the entree came and they were both spicy. No where did it say the food was spicy and my girlfriend can't eat spicy. It didn't make it any better that the 2 tables that came in after me we given regular menus after say that they weren't told that there was a prix fix menu. This is not right that I had this happen and my valentines dinner was ruined due to this. We didn't even want to be in the restaurant anymore so we got the dessert to go. While waiting for a ride back home someone asked for a regular menu and the hostess gave it to her with no issues. This will be the last times I come here and I used to love coming here.
Attentive service with authentically flavorful dishes. Loved that they had a few Indian Chinese - like Manchurian on the menu as well. My friend raved about the red Thai curry being one of the best she’s eaten (and she’s a Thai foodie) All plates were presented meticulously, the decor was fitting and the restaurant impeccably clean.
The servers were friendly, knowledgeable and efficient.
PS: Maybe someday soon they’ll add chili chicken to the menu.
Nice location right next to the review. Extensive menu with many of our favorite Malay dishes. The nasi goreng was good, although the egg was overcooked. The curry puffs could have used more filling to complement the fried exterior. The chicken rendang was great. Unfortunately the service was really slow. Although there were only 2 other parties in the restaurant we had to get up and get the waiter 3 different times to ask to order our drinks, get sambal and then get our check.
This food is basically the best Thai food I have ever had. There is a coconut soup that is so god it’s sweet but not overly sweet and a little bit sour. I had the pad Thai and it is so good. You can get any protein in it and tofu. The waiters are sooooo nice. There outdoor balcony is beautiful the chairs are pretty and the tables. The restaurant is right on the water and it’s beautiful , you get a view of the whole river. For dessert the best is mango moose. I’m not a mango fan and this is soooo good. Overall amazing restaurant.
One of my favorite places to visit. The views are amazing and I love their outdoor seating during the sunset time (carry your shades - if it’s a clear day, it will be gorgeous and you will need them). The food is great and the drinks are fantastic. There are many vegetarian options and they customize for special dietary restrictions as well.
If you are looking for a place to chill or just hang out you need to stop in in here. This place is a hidden gem. A roof tip with tons of parking on the water with a roof top. And there open on Christmas and all holidays. Gather all your friends and stop by. And they know how to pour a drink. And the decor is on point. And every person that works there has a smile on there face. I will be back very soon. I recommend the chicken it's very moist. And full of flavor.

I dined inside and the seats were so dusty. I got my food with an alcoholic drink and there was a bug in the drink, as I’m waiting to get another drink I see a roach run across my feet. When he gave me a new cup there was a fly at the bottom I told him and he didn’t care he wiped the bug with his finger , after that I left

The best Thai Restaurant I've ever been in Westchester County. And the service is top on the line. Located a few feet away from Hudson RIVER , perfect ambience. I'll be Back 😋
I love this place! Great food and ambiance . If you go during the summer you can sit outside with the view of the water . ❤️
Cool old building with fantastic Thai cuisine. I really enjoyed it.
My husband and I came here on a date night. Although the food tasted good I couldn’t finish eating since we spotted a roach 🪳 walking on the floor and one roach on top of our table. We didn’t enjoy our night I had a really bad experience. Was disgusted by the thought the kitchen might be infested with roaches. We told the waiters and waitresses but they behaved like they knew nothing about it. The carpet coming into the restaurant also looked very dirty. This place is not hygienic
okay y’all…the waiter was very nice and atmosphere was pleasant but WOW…this food is seriously questionable. we ordered the wings (5/10), beef and broccoli (2/10, genuinely no flavor, watery plain beef!!), and the pork spare ribs….negative 100/10!! wow… something was SERIOUSLY wrong with this dish. we gagged immediately. my girlfriend had to excuse herself because of the smell. we love all asian cuisine and have eaten it all around the world - this our forte. these ribs genuinely tasted like dog food mixed with stale fish. sometimes a meal is bad, but sometimes it’s so bad you genuinely need to warn others. i don’t write reviews. ever. go to the indian spot nearby for a similar but much more delicious fix. good luck out there yall!
Food and service was excellent! Well run restaurant by Indians and Hispanics
My first time at this restaurant the out door seating was nice. Food was good however disappointed with service. Had a glass of wine was never offered another glass. Once served our dinner my daughter was left with no fork at no time did anyone ask if we needed anything. I ended up eating with a spoon and gave my daughter my fork. Dinner was over and never offered dessert or coffee. We had to ask for our check and food we order to take out was on the bill but we never received it. I won’t return.
Food was amazing. Skip the cocktails...
Get ready to be wowed! Good and service that will leave you feeling great after your meal.
The views of the Hudson are unobstructed & the sunsets are priceless.
The food is perfect, literally made by a knowledgeable kitchen that cares.
First time here, googled some food places and this popped up so we wanted to try..
They are right by the water, plenty of parking onsite...you can sit indoors or outdoors...very nice decor inside..Staff was nice, we ordered curry puffs..that was good....and drunkman noodles( they were not good at all, no seasoning, barely any sauce).
I went with friends and my daughter today for lunch. We ordered green curry, pad see ew, and a couple other dishes. The food was flavorful and the service was great!
I love this restaurant! Everything I've ever ordered here has been delicious!
I gave it 4 stars because the Larb Kai I ordered was presented in a way that made it impossible to share and eat in an easy way. The romaine lettuce leaves were at the bottom of a bowl and sitting in about a 3/4 cup of liquid that I assume was leftover from the prep of the chicken. Then the ground chicken was piled on top of the romaine. I had to spoon the chicken out onto another plate and then put some back into the wet romaine leaves. Makes no sense. They were delicious but very messy to eat. It would be a simple thing to rectify. 🤞🤞
The outside deck looks terrible and the food was stale
The Best Thai in Westchester
The calamari was really hard and tasted frozen
Another gem was found yesterday. Delicious food and amazing customer service. Me ans my husband were able to dine here while on a keto diet.
Great location. I like it here.
Pretty terrible service. The place is almost empty and it took 30 mins to even be asked what our order was. Took very long to get the bill as well. Food was ok.
Absolutely the worst restaurant in Irvington and worst “thai” food I’ve ever had. I mean it. No flavor, no salt, nothing. The positive reviews have to be fake. It’s shocking because they also own the fabulous Indian restaurant, no one understands! The view is great sure but the food is terrible. Best Thai is in sleepy hollow if you’re looking for that. PLEASE close and open something else or fix it! Pad Thai has no sauce, curry dishes have no flavor.
Great experience and food :)
Best Malay/Thai restaurant in Westchester! Very polite, kind and attentive service. The food is a carefully curated collage of spices and flavors and the space is cosy and comfortable. Sambal feels like our second living room. I think we beat the menu already and we keep going back. Highly recommended to everyone.
Came here tonight with friends and brought my 2.5 year old son along. This place was perfect. I love the decorations, the music, the balcony lights with the river view. We sat by the window and enjoyed our meal as the sun was setting. It was beautiful. Everything we ordered came out delicious! We ordered house fried rice, drunken noodles, Singapore noodles, pad Thai, spring rolls, cauliflower (highly recommend), Thai chicken wings, lettuce wrap. The drinks were really good too, several of us got seconds. Even my picky 2.5 year old loved the fried rice. The service was excellent. They were so understanding and so lovely with my son. I appreciate this restaurant and will definitely come back again.

Good views. Nice servers. Good good.
Food has no flavor. Ordered delivery, pad see ew.
The food is overpriced & the portions are small. But the view is nice
Nice Thai restaurant by the Hudson river.
We went on new year's eve and had a delightful dinner. Very good and friendly service. Will definitely go again.
If you are looking for a place to chill or just hang out you need to stop in in here. This place is a hidden gem. A roof tip with tons of parking on the water with a roof top. Incredible food and speedy service. This is exactly what I wanted on a cold afternoon. Highly recommend visiting here for Thai food.
My husband and I have been going here for years! It is our date spot ! Absolutely LOVE IT!
Amazing food, great service, excellent ambiance. This was a perfect evening.
Many vegan options which is much appreciated. The food was flavorful and spiced great. The cocktails are also unique and tasty (I had the spicy marg!) My only complaint is the prices are a bit high for the amount of food you get, as well as for vegan entrees which should in theory be cheaper to make than meat ones. However, I understand the pricing is probably on par with the geographical area.
Came here for lunch yesterday. Had the green curry and drunken noodles. Both dishes were very tasty especially the curry. Not very busy at lunch time and the service was very good. I'm not a restauranteur so I don't really understand the economics of running a restaurant, but it seems to me that you might want to have lunch specials to attract lunch time business. Very expensive for lunch. This was a birthday outing so I was treated to lunch. Would never come here for lunch on a regular basis. Portions were sized appropriately and again the food tasted very good and I enjoyed my meal.
Went to a party there upstairs for 1 year old birthday on the 30th of September! Delicious food, cocktails, and very friendly service. Had a wonderful time! Nice view of the Hudson from the outside upstairs deck. Plenty of easy parking in the back.
Food was excellent, service good too. 👍 Walk over to riverfront great as well.
Save your money. Pad Thai was dry. Pad See Ew was dry and not flavorful. Roti curry was watered down. Disappointed. Only thing we enjoyed were the spring rolls.
Mediocre food. Expensive for the quality of food

Amazing place and spot but food sucks
Nice view, food, and very reasonable price
The food was good and very good service.
Love this place! The food is great and the outside deck is lovely
The food was phenomenal and the staff was great too. Took our appetizer order and did not bother or harass us for entre orders and when we were ready for entre orders they were very attentive and helpful when we had questions. Can't wait to go back !!
NEVER AGAIN. This restaurant is a waste of money, find another option if you're into taste and getting what you paid for. I understand a kitchen needing to be profitable, but this was a lower level of a dressed up TV dinner at best. If you're ONLY going for a drink and the view of the Hudson river from 200 feet away over and beyond an active parking lot, make it that. I should have read the other honest reviews about how bad this place actually is before going. Good thing I had leftovers at home because we left hungry having not even been able to finish our unappetizing meals.
The server didn't show up until we were asking for the menu for over 10 mins. Ordered 2 appetizers and 1 main and the main was never served after an hour we ordered it Their excuse was that we were waiting until we finished our appetizer. Instead of the food sitting and getting cold, they suppose to bring it to us while it is warm.
Also was asked to charge the phone and have been sitting at their desk without charging it the whole time.
The food was good but a bad experience with their service.
Great vegetarian options
Noodles and mock duck are extremely good
Veg Spring rolls were ok
I love this place. The food, service and ambience is worth it. I come herefor special occasions
I just ate there tonight, and it was the most disgusting food I ever had in my life. We had to wait forever to be served our food. My appetizer I almost threw up I asked for my dinner, which was the drunken sailor to be made mild. It was so spicy. The drinks were horrible. I left no tip. I’ve never gone to such a disgusting restaurant. The food is disgusting. Don’t go there.
One of our favorite spots: awesome location with Hudson River views (especially outdoors), scrumptious food and great service. Great for takeout food too!
Food was very tasty but beware: when they mean spicy, they really mean it here! Good service and nice view sitting out on the terrace. Definitely recommended!
Fried whole fish was decent. Drunken noodles lacking in heat and very small portions in general. Overall average but views from the outdoor balcony are nice and probably what you’re really paying for.
I’ve ordered food from this establishment twice through Uber Eats, each time for pick up. The first time my partner picked up and had a positive experience and was given my food no questions asked (even though in my name). The second time I went in (and presumably because I was not a white male like my partner), I was immediately questioned and asked to show proof that it was my order and that I was not an Uber delivery driver. It saddens me when minorities treat other minorities with disrespect and rudeness. I will not support this establishment with my business again.
Good food but very expensive for the quality and quantity
Good not great. Bit overpriced for the quality. Roti did not seem fresh, beef was kinda chewy, Biang biang noodles weren’t really biang biang noodles. Some flavors were good but not the kind of quality I would expect for this price
There is not a negative thing to say about Samal-they check all of the right boxes. Excellent food, extremely friendly and accomodating waitstaff, great atmosphere, really nice outdoor terrace facing the Hudson River, plenty of free parking. Is there anything else?
Had the lunch special Pad Thai and it was a congealed mess.
Great food in a nice setting. Different physical setup, with the main dining room/bar upstairs and the kitchen and a few tables on the first floor. Plenty of natural light and a great view of the Hudson River and Cuomo Bridge. The Drunkman Noodles w Shrimp entree was delicious. They also serve a really good Thai iced tea.
Very nice place
For a restaurant called "Sambal", there was a disappointing lack of traditional dishes containing that ingredient. The only ones on the menu were sambal salad and sambal chicken winglet, neither of which can be considered authentic dishes. Other than that, the food ordered was passable, and the Thai curry was decent.
Amazing location, although got to be lucky to get the window table, but food was amazing. Great flavors and good portions.
Loved their appetizer - gobi Manchurian it is not the typical sweetish sauce, this was different savoury flavor in a very good way.
amazing food
The most Overpriced bad food, not really Thai food, but India flavored food, not fresh, but old and over cooked. Felt like being cheated by the good reviews.
With the bathroom on the bottom floor and steep stairs this is not a good place for disabled people to dine. I gave it 2 stars because my family enjoyed the restaurant and the lighting was nice.
good food, good service ☺️☕
I'm inclined to not return, it was disappointing. The chicken wings were rubbery and not crispy. Ordered chicken with my Tom Yum soup, but came out without chicken, and it had to be remade/added. Ordered sticky rice with my beef randang, but there was no sticky rice, the server gave the reason that I wouldn't like it. Unsure how to take that, why not just tell me when I placed the order and have me decide then? There was no checking-in, and I kept having to call for the server.
Excellent Thai food! Great views!
Nice quiet place. Food is good.
I was really looking forward to this meal. Service was friendly and attentive until the food was put on our table.
My red curry was really small, but fantastic.
My wife's beef, pineapple fried rice was tasteless and the beef was overcooked and rubbery.
We would have told a waiter if one ever came by to see how our food was. Or if they came by to see if we needed anything else. Or just looked at us while we were trying to get their attention.
When I finally gave up they were a talking at the bar( see picture I uploaded). I stood up and waved.
They brought us a container for my wife's rice which I doctored at home and ate the next day.
I didn't immediately rate them on OpenTable, but left a note to management that I'd like to discuss the night with someone. I left my email address and as of this writing 5 days have passed without an answer. So maybe the problems start at the top.
Hey, the tasteless rice could be forgiven...stuff happens, but the lack of service and disregard but management cannot.
AMAZING service and attention to detail!! I hosted a pre wedding event here and the staff was so sweet. The food was delicious! The chef helped me create a special menu and signature cocktail. If I had more stars to rate this place, I would, because 5 isn’t enough
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Missed restaurant week, however still visited Sambal this past weekend and it was really good. Venue has a warm friendly vibe, staff was alert and courteous and the options we tried were yummy. Love the rustic Southeast Asian theme of whimsical color prints mixed with exposed aged wood beams and playful bronze lanterns. Great location! Hudson River view! Definitely encourage you to support this business.
MANGO MOJITO - Fantastic drink. Good mix proportions. Bartender not stingy on the rum given 15$ a cup.
SPRING ROLLS + CAULIFLOWER MANCHURIAN - Well made and flavorful with great presentation. **Spring rolls may need to bump up quantity for value to cost ratio :)
Though location is great & this place looks good on paper. The reality is the food is mediocre & service boarded line ok.
Delicious! This is one of my go-to spots when I'm in the Irvington area. The staff is welcoming, food is great, and the ambiance is fun. I'm vegan and there are tons of options to choose from, but my favorite is the tofu triangles. Drink of choice? The lychee martini hands down! Looking forward to my next visit.
Great place with great flavors! I would give 5 stars but I just ate at Catch Steak tonight which not too many places can compare to. For Irvington this place really rocks!!
Great food and great view!
Good food
Great restaurant. Really nice atmosphere. Food and drinks were great 👍
Nice outdoor with great food.
Place was really lovely with plenty of outdoor seating and views of the river, bridge and gorgeous sunset. The food was good, but a lot more delicate, spiced-wised than I would have liked. The massaman curry and the black lotus cocktail were delicious and a great pairing.
Nice Thai and Malaysian restaurant near the Hudson River in Irvington, NY.
Lovely place to enjoy a delicious dinner and a sundowner at the river view terrace.
Great 😃😃👍 experience food was superb, love it and want to eat here again
This place is absolutely excellent, all around, in all categories. Beautiful location, right on the river, we sat outside on the patio. Yummy cocktails, delicious creative starters, and fun twists on Thai classic entrees, all four in our party were very happy with our meals. The staff is quite friendly and helpful, answered all our questions, and made suggestions based on our questions. Will definitely be going back, would definitely recommend to a friend.
Great food and views of the Hudson. Should've made a 2nd food order to go
Good authentic Malay food. Great location and excellent service
The deck views of the hudson and the TappanZee are amazing but watch out for wind gusts and the heat even under the umbrellas.
Great drinks. Excellent river view. Really good food. The people that work there are really nice, I would definitely hang out with them after hours.
Lots of gluten free options clearly stated on the menu, that are truly gluten free. This place is safe if you have celiacs disease.
Love this restaurant any time of year but especially in the summer. The food is wonderful. The waiters are friendly and efficient. Just went last evening for apps and drinks on the deck. They have umbrellas for shade. I keep bringing friends and they fall in love with it just as I have.
This restaurant was fantastic. Parking was easy, plentiful, and close to the restaurant. The outside balcony was open and filled up slowly, allowing us to get an outdoor seat. The views were jaw-dropping and spanned from the Mario Cuomo Bridge to halfway down the Hudson River. After eating, we walked to the edge of the water (a few steps from the restaurant) and could see all the way to New York CIty. Our waiter, Aldi, did a phenomenal job in engaging with the customers and understanding when we wanted to change our drinks. The Thai Iced Tea was deliciously sweet while the Lemonade was more bitter and refreshing on a hot summer day. The Mango Mojito was a good mix of mango and minty flavor. Just a taste of the Mango Tasse sends your tastebuds to paradise. The Mango Tasse is sweet and creamy with hints of tropical flavors in every sip. We will definitely come again for the drinks. My meal excellent but my husband felt his meal reminded him more of Chinese food rather than Mediterranean cuisine. Our desserts were perfect. I had the chocolate cake which tasted outstanding with the Mango Tasse. The Mango Mouse was out-of-this-world with a perfect balance of sweet and bitter. Overall, this was an excellent experience in which I truly enjoyed myself.
Good food
Nice restaurant.
Great outdoor spot. The food was really good.
Mediocre, bland Thai food for American palates that don't want too much flavor/spice. 3 stars rather than 2 because of the amazing balcony, which gets a wonderful breeze and overlooks the river. Also 3 stars rather than 2 because they offer mock duck as an option. But prices at this restaurant are unreasonably expensive. $3-5 to add a protein to any dish, on top of a very expensive dish price? 99% of Thai restaurants include base-level proteins in noodle/rice dishes (with a $1-2 upcharge for a specialty protein), so this feels quite ungenerous.
I thought the malaysian food was good. I want to try more though.
Excellent food, great view, amazing atmosphere.
A delightful little restaurant overlooking the Hudson River.
They have indoor and outdoor seating, the menu is extensive, and the food is truly outstanding.
I have tried many of the Thai restaurants in Westchester…..this one however is top-class.
Will absolutely return and totally recommend this spot.
Nice Hudson river view with the best Thai ice tea I could think of. The service is pretty quick, prompt and friendly. We got drunken noodles, pad Thai and massam curry all of which were pretty good and had decent quantity. Definitely a must try.
The food was awful. My lamb and noodle dish had no flavor. Very mushy. My husband’s dish tasted like cheap canned Chinese food. Never in 67 years of going to restaurants have I ever been asked to leave, almost immediately after taking my last bite, with a drink left to finish, because others were waiting for a table. Go elsewhere!!!
Seamen Billingsley here. They forgot the flavor and texture for my lamb noodles. At least I could eat them despite forgetting my dentures. And as soon as I paid for them they asked me to leave, not even because of my gummy smile. Just the customers who were waiting were more important than the ones who paid already. I give my two stars for the view. But you can see that from the parking lot too, which in my experience is both less insulting and more flavorful.
The ambiance, the food, the service, I loved everything about this place
Outdoor view was great. Appetizers taste better than the entrees- mine was too sweet for me or and my friend's was not flavorful enough for her. A bit disappointing.
They can't think outside the box with food selections but they are very nice
Their outdoor views are beautiful especially on a sunny day. The food is very good and an overall great experience.
the food is delicious. on this particular day they had a buffet. it was worth it
Fantastic location, beautiful Hudson River views. Reasonable prices and friendly service.
Delicious food and good service
Very nice location over looking the Hudson.
We were there for Mothers day lunch buffet.
$30 per person + +. It was good. Not amazing.
Few good beers on Tap. Also Few cocktails for the ladies. Desert is below average. They just have to do a better job on it. I am only rating the buffet. I haven't ordered from the regular menu.
Nice deco.
The food is just okay nothing really impressive. The service was incredibly slow.
I travel for work, and this was the most expensive Thai restaurant I've ever eaten at. I'm easy to please and have very reasonable expectations. I sat upstairs and was the only customer in the restaurant at the time I sat down. My Chicken Satay appetizer was $12.95. I'm used to paying that for an entree elsewhere. My drink was brought in a small Mason jar and was never refilled. Once my food was brought, I was pretty much by myself. The Pad Thai entree was the smallest portion I've ever received at a Thai restaurant. The final bill was $41. For one person to get an entree, drink and small appetizer. The food was alright. The Chicken Satay was better than the Pad Thai. Some of the noodles were undercooked and hard, and the tofu bits were hard on the outside also. I left feeling disappointed overall, and I probably wouldn't come back.
Consistently delicious food over all the years I've come here, and this weekend was the best visit yet. Wait staff is very understanding of dietary restrictions (specifically vegan options, in my case), enthusiastic, and gave wonderful service to my group. The decor inside is beautiful and the location can't be beat. Truly cannot understand the negative reviews. The cauliflower manchurian starter is a must!
Great service and food fully recommended
Everything was so lovely! Staff was very courteous and attentive. Food was amazing. Really romantic and warm atmosphere, a bit dark
Amazing!!! So glad this was the place I tried Thai food for the first time in!!! I had such a lovely dinner, and I’ve never tasted more exotic East Asian flavor in my life! The atmosphere of the restaurant is so unique, with the interior filled with colorful lantern-like lights and comfortable seating. I highly recommend the Cauliflower Appetizer, the Vegan Curry (Massaman?), and the Pad Thai noodles. There’s so much more to try here though! Please post dishes that you think are worth it too :)
Decent food. Nice views of the river.
My fiancé and I love this place and make it our regular date night spot. Highly recommend!
