When our planned dinner location was closed we rapidly googled something close by our hotel and settled on this hole in the wall sushi and cocktail bar. We were very satisfied with this choice. First the food was very basic, very well executed, and came super quick. Definitely try the Hawaiian Cucumber Wraps for a low carb treat.

The service was unreal and very much personal. Whether it was “Grandma” (nothing meant here, but it just seemed like a family working together and she was the oldest (60-70) female working and reminded me of my Grandma) moving from table to table checking on you, or the line staff moving your food and drinks out fast it was great. The drinks were well made and cold. Price point was great for down town.

We ordered vegetable tempura and sushi, and everything was fresh and delicious and served quickly. I think it’s cute how they give you a little jar of ginger and a dish of wasabi to share at the table. We will definitely come back soon!

Stopped by on a trip through Lexington and genuinely enjoyed my visit. The food was delicious: some of the better eel I've had in a while, and the tonkatsu was thin but juicy, served with crisp veg and delicious rice. Service was prompt, friendly, and attentive. Will definitely stop in again.

Solid, but not extensive menu. The sushi I had, Kim Bap Roll, held a Korean flair in its flavors and level of spice. Well made and delicious. Good service - attentive without being invasive. Good pricing on food items and drinks. The place has a very minimalist, Asian vibe to the interior - though not specifically Japanese. Wine list was "meh" but that is to be expected in the area (no one seems to have figured out that sparkling and white wines pair very nicely with many types of sushi and sashimi). The sake list was solid, varied and covered all the bases of styles and price points quite well. Would definitely eat here again.

Absolutely delicious- we love this place!! The food is incredible, and the service is so fast. We were in and out in less than 30 minutes. The staff is so sweet. Absolutely recommend!!!

I got the bento box lunch w chicken karange, shrimp tempura & salmon avocado roll. The chicken karage was so salty that my friend couldnt finish half of it. ‘This salty food will cause me high blood pressure and kidney stone!’ was my friend’s feedback.🫀

Could have done better, even in Lexington KY where there’s not a lot of asian around.

Excellent sushi. That's all I ever get from there. They have a very impressive bar area with an extensive drink list as well.

Update 06/03/2024:

I ordered carry-out and was having a great time talking to the elderly owner lady who is always there. Some younger girl (maybe her daughter) pushed her away and took over the conversation and began acting very rudely toward me. I tipped $1 on a single carry-out roll and this must have upset her. She was very bothered by the fact that I requested the house Wasabi rather than the commercial to-go packet. She held the house Wasabi in my face and then slammed it in my bag in a harsh way. This took me by surprise because I am a regular customer there and I have been treated great by the staff here in the past. This experience however will reverse every positive feedback post I have made and I will now encourage people to avoid this restaurant.

Buddha Lounge always has wonderful sushi! This restaurant is consistent with their high quality food.

My favorite sushi place. They have the best miso soup too 😋 the real crab roll is officially my favorite. Love dipping in soy sauce for better flavor.

Ended up only have a drink and app. Edamame was quite good and the bourbon prices were reasonable (12 for single pour eagle rare. The bar is GORGEOUS.

The woman that was in charge of my table was so amazing, she was super friendly, always made sure that our cups were full and let us have as much time as we needed to figure out our order. She also joked around with us and made us feel very welcome. The food was also wonderful! I would definitely recommend this place to everyone :)

Panang Curry had a sweet taste and no peanut flavor. Not sure why. I don't recommend it.

Terrible experience for a first timer in Lexington. I saw great reviews on this restaurant but was incredibly disappointed… table was dirty and sticky, the table next to us sat dirty for most of our dining experience, the sake had a bug floating in it, and the lady who came to take our order walked off when we were asking questions. For a Thursday night, this place seemed severely overwhelmed and lazy with staffing. The food took over 45 mins to get to the table. The other server rushed out with food and aggressively threw plates down. Food was average and not worth the money. Suggest going somewhere else for dinner.

This place was great! The service was fast and friendly. The food came out quick and was delicious. Seriously even the salad was sooo good. I got a bento box and it was the perfect portions. I will absolutely eat here again when I next visit Lexington. Should have taken the pictures before we dug in but I forgot haha even my 5 year old was so happy eating everything. Very great taste 👌

I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was there!!! The restaurant was very busy however our server was so helpful and amazing she got everything done and got us seated and fed quickly! I was so full and happy after leaving!! We had the green curry dish, the Hawaiian wrap and the spicy California roll everything was so good. I also got the miso soup which was the best miso soup I have ever had! Thank you so much

We love coming to Buddha Lounge! It's usually pretty busy but that's okay.. food and drinks are always enjoyed. Staff is friendly and wait time for food isn't bad. There's a bar area that we sometimes sit at if possible since it's off to the side and that's nice.

Great, quick bento box for lunch in an even better atmosphere!

We had the panang curry, two sushi rolls, fried potato appetizer, and sashimi. The curry was small and less flavorful than most other panangs I’ve had, and the chicken was dry. The sushi roll options were standard, nothing too original, and tasted fresh. The potato appetizer was bland. The sashimi was phenomenal, freshest I’ve had in Kentucky! Considering price and other options available in Lexington, I can’t say I’ll be back.

To me, it seems in poor taste that an Asian restaurant would serve Kroger brand green tea. Also, some of the dishes didn’t appear to be all the way clean.
Other than that, the food was decent, the service was great, and I’d eat lunch there again.
Only chiming in because I care and want them to succeed and hold themselves to a certain standard.

The Bento box lunches are excellent; a good value with nice variety. Lunch served until 4p!

Always have a great meal at Buddha Lounge. My go-to for Sushi lunches downtown.

Go to lunch spot on West side of Lexington. Cool atmosphere and plenty of choices other than fish. I usually get the bento box, but tried the Chirashi bowl instead. If you like sushi you will love this!!

This place is just okay now. The sushi rolls were loose and lacking flavor. I am a returning customer and looking forward to a great meal. Last year I raved about this place, this year it was meh.

Delicious bento box, everytime!

Rude staff. Went here to pick up a DoorDash that was supposed to be ready. Was told it would be about 5-10 minutes, so I waited in my car (where parking is horrible and you will get towed quick) went back in and waited about 10 minutes with not one staff member even acknowledging me. Finally I went up to the bar and asked if they knew how much longer it would be. When I asked this eye contact wasn’t even made between the staff and me. Then the man said “I don’t know maybe 5-10 more minutes, we’re busy. It’s an 80$ check so id say it’s worth it” beside the point of how much the tip was, it’s ridiculous I had to wait that long on an order. And actually the customer tipped horribly. So I waited 30 minutes to make 6$ and risk my car getting towed and felt like I got treated like I was to poor to be in the restaurant. Tell your servers and other employees their time isn’t the only time that’s valuable, & a simple “I’ll be right back with you” would be helpful. I really feel like the staff felt like I was not upper class enough to be in the restaurant or something. Bad vibes

This restaurant is not nearly as nice as it appears online! The Moscow mule was not good. The decor is awful. The food wasn’t anything special. I would not recommend it!!!

Second time here. Food and service were great! Crab Rangoon Roll is super tasty with the sweet and sour sauce. Large bourbon selection at the bar. Becoming a favorite spot when in Lex.

Absolutely loved this restaurant and can not wait to go back!! We were greeted and seated as soon as we walked in. From there we were taken care of by what felt like the whole restaurant! They made us feel like family, always asking if everything was good or did we need anything. I tried Sake for my first time and fell in love with this coconut infused 1, highly recommend that as well! We only ordered some sushi and a tempura plate but all of our food was hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious!!!

First time my family & I ate here. 5 stars hands down. I always look at reviews before going to any new place and when I saw the reviews from here I decided we’d go there for lunch. Wonderful sushi and amazing service.

We had the dumplings w/ponzu, fried shrimp, a rainbow roll (last option in special rolls) and the nigiri and sashimi small samplers. All of the food was amazing and we have been to a lot of sushi restaurants. After 7 years in Lexington this is now our #1 sushi spot. The rainbow roll(sorry, I forgot the name) was absolutely amazing. Will definitely be back. The only negative was our wait time of the nigiri and sashimi. The waitress apologized and everything else came out quickly.

Great asian fusion place for a quick bite

OMG so good! Shared 2 spicy tuna rolls, gyoza, lg miso soup, and 9 piece sushi. The fish was so fresh - excellent taste and beautiful color. Prices are reasonable and staff was super friendly and helpful. Pictures were taken after i already nibbled a little lol. Highly recommend.

Everytime we took a bite, we didn't think it could get any better and it did! The staff was so kind and attentive, checking in with us and refilling our drinks promptly. Hands down the best sushi I've ever had, I'm planning on making daytrips from Ohio to here just to come back!

I was greeted and seated quickly; offered the option of the bar or restaurant. Not a lot of folks in there when I arrived but it was still early!
All of the items on the menu looked amazing, but I went with seaweed salad, karaage (boneless fried chicken pieces), the Philadelphia roll, and an Old Fashioned.
Everything was really a delight and I could tell this place is beloved by locals, too. (Though I haven't figured out where the locals live yet!)
I would absolutely come back when in Lexington, or make it a regular spot to eat if I lived here.

The sushi looked like it was rolled by a child. No self-respecting restaurant, convenience store, discounted bento, or host mother in Japan would dare serve such a roll to a customer/guest. It would be shameful. I guess it was a busy Friday night...

That said, the food tasted fine for asian fusion. Nothing to rave about.

We had a great dinner here on a Saturday night! I think we came at a good time because we didn’t have to wait for a table, but people that came in after us had to wait about +10 minutes. All of the sushi was delicious and the veggie gyoza was super good too! It was a nice atmosphere, definitely not quiet but not obnoxiously loud either. Definitely recommend for a date night! If you have a large group, it might be helpful to make a reservation.

We just ordered curbside while in town staying at an Airbnb and had a taste for fish. While I'm no connoisseur of sushi, I can decipher between good and bad! This was a delightful experience, fresh flavors, great rolls, great all around! When in LX we will be back! Kudos to the Buddha Lounge team :)

Incredible food and service. Covid protocols were being followed and we felt perfectly safe eating inside the restaurant. Our server was attentive and kind. And it was the best sushi we had eaten in a long time. Can’t wait to visit again!

Korean tacos were very good. We also had three rolls and we're stuffed for the two of us. Give it a shot.

Everything here is always delicious and fresh. I’m vegan and they will always use a fresh surface to prepare my rolls on so they don’t taste like fish. This is definitely a regular spot for us.

Get the Sashimi sampler

I had high hopes for this place after all the reviews, but I don’t know how this place has such high ratings. The loud music made it difficult to understand what the server was saying; I asked if they could make a particular drink and they said yes, then they gave me the wrong thing; the sushi was ok, but nothing amazing (although we aren’t by the coast, so I wasn’t too surprised); and I found a hair in my food, which didn’t help anything. One of the servers was also loudly swearing while chatting with another table, so don’t bother bringing your kids here if you care about such a thing. Overall the place just seemed very unprofessional and did not at all live up to the other reviews, don’t waste your time.

This is a great little spot for sushi in the heart of downtown. The sushi is always fresh and tasty. The environment is quiet and cozy but the service can be a bit slow at times. The staff has always been very friendly when I go so speed has never been my worry.

We eat here for lunch regularly (wonderful selection of bento box choices, sushi rolls, & curries at a very reasonable price; plus service is almost always super fast) so thought we'd try dinner too. Dinner menu has a variety of tapas, rolls, nigiri and sashimi (sliced or combos)! Freshest most flavorful ingredients presented artfully. Loved everything we ordered. Chirashi box was packed! Lots of vegetarian options as well. Only drawback was the cold blast of air (35° the night we went) when front door opens. Sit further back during cold months when possible unless you always run hot.

Some of the best sushi in Lexington. Cherry Blossom Roll and Spider Roll are personal favorites. They make good drinks too, and have a huge Bourbon selection.

Dear God never have a senior citizen need to use the restroom there. I offered the bartender $100 for my father to use the restroom and they refused.

The venue is very modern, and pleasant but the acoustics are so bad it's almost impossible to carry a conversation.
