I loved the original owners but they have retired after 20 years of service and are in Thailand currently. but now since the new owners have taken over they are now open for lunch which is a big deal and they are adding new menu items but still have the same Thai recipes which are on point if you live in Lawrence or are going through Lawrence I can’t recommend this place enough

My order was loaded with the same chicken, but had the SPICY General Tso’s sauce (we got the hottest version for me - because that’s how I roll!). It was money well spent for great food. We look forward to revisiting her again when we come back!

Order delivery got the Pad Thai, egg rolls, and crab Rangoon. Pad Thai with shrimp was delicious got medium spicy was perfect potion was large and shrimp where cooked properly. Egg rolls probably the best I have had in a long time perfectly done loved them!!!! Crab Rangoon was a large portion 6 and plenty of dipping sauce I would highly recommend Thai Siam will be getting again when I am back in town.

Tried it for the first time last night and loved it! I loved it so much I got it again tonight, great staff always super nice and quick service! The food is also a 10/10!

The crab rangoons have changed and are not good anymore :( Also, there were very few noodles in my Pad See Ew, which was disappointing because it did have good flavor.

Thai-siam has been one of my favorite Lawrence restaurants since I discovered it. I was very disheartened when I heard it was closing down. Then I learned that the old owners were training up a new couple to take over the business! I hadn't ordered in a while but finally did today. I'm happy to say it's the same delicious comfort food I loved. Maybe a little spicier (not a bad thing). I hope the new owners and thai-siam stick around Lawrence for a long time :D

Been here multiple times, and always very friendly service and very fresh food. Try any dish there I'm sure it won't miss the mark, I'm partial to the red curry.

Thai Siam has always had a special place in this town. I was worried that when the previous owners sold the place that it would not exist but was pleased when I found out the new owner would continue with the same restaurant and menu.

I have tried it several times since the change in ownership and WOW, it’s actually better in my opinion! They’ve added some options like pho and bun as well and every time I call or go in for pickup they are very nice and welcoming. It’s becoming my favorite place in town now! Can definitely recommend the chicken pad phet, the Tom ka Kai, beef tendon soup and pho. Noodles kee maw and pad Thai were always great go to orders but I have not had them since the changeover. I am sure they are just as good or better than they always were, as this has been the case with everything else. Give it a try!!!

FANTASTIC ! We ordered Massaman Curry with beef- hits all the notes of spicy, salty and sweet, I kept sneaking in bites. Tom Yum soup is the treasure hunt of all soups with bites of ginger and lemongrass. Beef and Broccoli is well balance of meat & veggies and not too salty. Spring Rolls were a sad miss, very minimal, almost soggy with the chopped lettuce and noodles. Overall we plan to go back very often!

Food is FANTASTIC and authentic.

Unfortunately my experience has not not been great. My first experience I received a very small portion compared to other restaurants, I usually wouldn't mind but I noticed extremely large portions on the plates of those dining in. The next experience was today, I ordered over the phone, when I arrived to pick up my food I noticed the bag was much heavier than the previously one. The problem was that my order was wrong, I asked for no egg on both dishes, my order was remade and surprise, I received a little more than half the portion of the exact same dish! To add insult to injury the very nice gentleman at the register told me to keep the incorrect order, give it to a homeless person or whatever, I planned to give the meal to my neighbor who actually can eat egg as a special treat, but no, while sitting at the booth waiting a lady who I believe to be the owner, came and took the container from me.

I'm not owed free food, but don't say one thing and do another, coming taking something without stating you intentions os extremelyrude.

I'm not guaranteed a large portion of food, but I deserve consistent service regardless of what the color of my skin is( A black person didn't call in the order). I will do the owner a favor and spend my money elsewhere, it has been made clear that those who look like me are not welcome.

Best Thai food I have ever had! Grew up eating here, amazing people and service. Was worried after the original owners retired, they were always so cool with me and my friends. The new ownership however is amazing! Food is just as amazing as ever. Can’t recommend enough!

The food and the service are excellent!!!!!!

We’ve been big fans of Thai-Siam for over a decade, and were sad to hear that the old owners were selling, but willing to give the new owners a shot. We have gotten takeout here three times since they changed ownership, and it’s been getting better every time. The service has gone from a little slow (in the first week) to impressively quick; today, we were quoted a 20-minute wait—not bad at all for prime dinner time on a Friday night during the school year! And the food has been consistently delicious, with generous portion sizes at fair prices. Their panang curry in particular remains the standard against which I judge other Thai restaurants.

This spot is only getting better, so I imagine it’ll be my yardstick for excellent Thai food for years to come. I’m looking forward to dining in soon!

Been going here since I was child, one of the best Thai places in Lawerence. Can’t wait to see how the new owners do, love their food.

I found this place through Google maps explore feature and was craving Asian inspired food and flavor. I really enjoyed my visit and the food. At first I was dismayed because it said carryout only, but when I entered and asked about it, they were kind and let me eat at the place. I got chicken pad Thai at the mild level and it was delicious 😋. My only preference would have been for more chicken in it and some zucchini and yellow squash added in. But that is my personal preference and they said that it is okay to ask for extra chicken. All in all great food and a great experience. The staff was friendly and helpful.

The new owners are absolutely what Thai Siam needed most! Personally I found the past owners to be very funny but I understand that lots of people had issues with them. The new owners are super friendly and helpful! The food was just as amazing as i believe it had always been. The inside of the building is much cleaner now and looks much better! The woman I spoke to said they are hoping to open dine in as soon as they can. Can’t wait and I love this place.

This was our first time. Got 2 jerky appetizers and was instantly a BIG fan. WOW! Plan to add Thai-Siam to our weekend delivery dinner list. So, so good.

We came in expecting a good service because of the reviews, but oh my gosh were we wrong lol. We came in, not knowing that there was no dine-in option, so we wanted to place an order for dine in. The lady said “We don’t do dine in. We only do take out. Sign was on door.” and we say, okay, let’s do to go anyways. I saw the man (owner I assume) picking up vegetables and putting them into to go boxes with his BARE HANDS. not one set of gloves were seen in that entire establishment on any of the cooks. this was after we placed our order so we didn't ask for a refund. They said we’d need to wait twenty minutes after complaining about how busy they are. Okay, lol. Anyways, we come back and this poor guy was picking up the food his wife ordered and he didn’t know if it was an online order or a call order. The owner was yelling at him?!! He said, “What do you think, we just give food away for free??! There’s a big difference between online and call orders, you need to pay.” Just completely screaming at the dude in front of the entire restaurant lol.

They have some of the best dishes in the area. Very high-quality, super delicious. I consider myself lucky that I live so close to this amazing restaurant for all these years. Best general TSO chicken, Best curry soups Of course I leave out the bamboo shoes. That’s totally up to you. That is an acquired taste. lol They are very willing to accommodate your taste buds. Tell them what you like. Tell them if you want it super spicy or just mild. Tell them if you don’t like bamboo shoots like me and they will absolutely take good care of you.

This place made me sad. We tried it because we live in the neighborhood, but should've heeded the warnings. Food was inedible (curry was broken, flavor was okay though, meat was just awful, vegetables not cooked). What a huge waste of money. Least important thing but quite alarming, the owner is verbally abusive. Would not eat here again if it was free and I was paid.

Thai-Siam's food is phenominal! I especially love the veggie fried rice with basil. So many delicious greens packed in with a bit of spice. I know previous reviews have complained about the service, but knowing that the couple prepares every order on the spot is justification enough for me when it comes to longer wait times. I'd recommend calling an order ahead of time if you're short on time. Seriously though, great food!

Terrible customer service. The guy taking orders always has an attitude. On the phone, he wouldn't let us finish a sentence without interrupting. And was rushing us, and wanted payment over the phone. Every time I order Thai, I pay for the food when I go to pick it up.

This is one of those times that you don't even believe it should get 1 star. This was the first and last time I'll get food from here. The order took over an hour and 30min to make. When we showed up the lady was rude, stating we where early and we need to give them more time. We didn't even demand the food we just came in to get it when it was said to be ready. We get the food or lack there of food. What a rip off. $65.00 for the food and we got 4 small nuggets of chicken for each order and less than a half cup of beef for the other.
The food was not good for what little we got. Such a rip off. Don't go here. I wish I could ask for a refund.

I finally found the best panang curry in this little Midwestern suburb. The smell of the cafeteria and the takeout I ordered literally reminded me of home (Southeast Asia). Sorry no photos, I literally inhaled the dishes. The owners are a bit ornery, but just think of them as your always harried aunt and uncle.

Food is good but after four years of putting up with the grumpy owner, I’m done with them. You never know what kind of a mood he (and she) is going to be in and they make you feel like you are a huge burden to them. He always talks about how busy they are and tonight, he rambled on for what seemed like 10 minutes about how they haven’t had cashew chicken on the menu for 15 years and why would I order that. ( sorry I don’t memorize each restaurant’s menu) He also told me not to call him because he is too busy and to order from Grub Hub. Although I have liked their their food, with a few exceptions, putting up with verbal abuse is not something I’m going to accept anymore.
I was talking to a guy at the Verizon store awhile back and we were talking about our favorite Chinese restaurants and he said out if the blue that there is a place where he goes but the owner is rude and acts mad all the time. I asked which restaurant and it was Thai Siam.
I honestly don’t know how they stay in business but they have one less customer after today.

The springrolls are the best as the appetizer. Chicken Pad Thai medium spice is delicious. Very consistent and ALWAYS excellent. Better than any other Thai restaurant I've tried.

I am visiting Lawrence from MN. Thai was the craving and this was an awesome choice!! Ordered the cucumber salad, egg rolls, pork lomein and beef with basil leaves!!
The cucumber salad was crisp, fresh and delicious!!
Mom said her pork lomein was hot and tasty but the pork was cut a little too big for her liking and for eating with a plastic fork in a hotel room. Lol. I liked the thicker noodles and the visable sauce on everything in the to- go container and some in the bottom. Not a fan of dry lomein.
Egg rolls were crisp and had flavor all the way through. So many egg rolls dont!! They are on smaller side though.
The beef with basil leaves was GREAT!! I love how they thick shave the carrots and cooked them perfectly, same with the green beans! Nice big slices of jalapenos and a ton of basil. Beef was sliced well and pretty tender.
If you live in Lawrence, and haven't tried it, please do! If you're traveling and craving Thai/Chinese, take a look! You should not be disappointed!!
Funny side note, place seems disorganized when you first walk in but they know what they are doing!! When you pick up, just give your name and stand back!!

Best Thai food I've ever had. As others have stated, don't piss them off. They know what their doing and if you request a modification to the menu then you are forever cursed.

I highly recommend the panang curry with tofu. Blows my mind everytime.

If you don't mind the couple who owns the place literally yelling at each other (and sometimes you lol) the whole time, this is my absolute favorite restaurant in the whole world. There's definitely a certain charm about the place. I get thai green curry or pad thai every time I go to Lawrence from Kansas City. They make the food to order and the vegetables are always fresh. It is so delicious.

Food here is amazing when it’s amazing. It can be a little hit or miss. Very authentic street food vibes. The food is the best when they are angry, so if the person in front of you messes up, you’re golden.

Do not attempt to make modifications. Do not ask questions. Do not arrive early. Do not complain. Do not touch the food before they hand it to you.

Order directly from the menu. Call in your order. If it’s not done when you arrive, wait in your car. Leave immediately after getting your food.

I think they also take notes based on your phone number, so if you break any of the rules, you should probably get a different number if you want to go back lol

If you can follow the unspoken rules (and the ones I’ve listed above), you will have a good time here.

I love the Pad Thai. My siblings and I have ate here for the past 15 years. Always recommend the chicken pad thai with medium spice.

This is in response to some of the other good people who have left reviews here for Thai Siam. Please note I'm not discounting other people's experience at TS, However, I think TS is better than some other reviews. First, I've been going to TS for years. They've never gotten my order wrong and given me something I didn't order.. As far as the taste of the food goes, I think it's better than Thai Diner, though I like Thai Diner too. I should add we always get the curry at TS, so I can't speak about the other items on TS's menu because I haven't tried them. I haven't been to Thailand, but I have been to other Thai restaurants in KC area and also several restaurants in "Thai Town" in Los Angeles. TS, at least their curry options, are better than anything else I've had at these other restaurants. This is of course my personal opinion, I'm writing to support a small mom and pop business that could use a little more love. Happy eating!

Low quality food. Rice was old and soggy, and had some brown color at some parts of it. Made me wonder if it’s leftover from another dish! Pad Thai tasted okay but didn’t feel good on the stomach the next day. This was my second try and I think I’m done with this place.

Best food in town

The people that own it are nice but the food was awful. I ordered the seafood delight and it was covered in so much soy sauce that I could hardly choke it down. My daughter ordered pad Thai but got chicken fried rice. I think they are just getting old and don’t know what good is anymore.

I was told that the Thai food at this place was the best in Lawrence for the money, but that the rudeness of management was unsurpassed, as well. My opinion is that the quality and tastiness of the food doesn't come close to the other Thai restaurants. In fact, it was quite bland and amt of rice was insufficient in comparison. The impatience of management is inexcusable. I will not be causing any more stress for the guy, however. One time is sufficient!

I'm not sure where the bad reviews came from, but this restaurant is authentic and damn good! If you are in Lawrence, I highly recommend stopping by for a quick bite.

The Tom Ka Kai soup is the best I've ever had. I come just for that. The curry is also good, but you need to ask for it extra spicy if you like heat. The red and the green are my favorites and I don't even usually like green curry.

Thai Siam is and has been a great Thai food to go spot. The green curry pictured is as good as any you will find in this part of the country. You will not regret dining here.

My family and I ordered $90 worth of food for delivery. We got 5 pieces of orange chicken and tso’s chicken. And the food was cold by the time we got it. Very disappointed. Will never order again. Tasted good though.

Best Thai place in Lawrence hands down. Some people can't handle the owners, who are exactly like what you would find in southern China or in Thailand~ will give you an earful if you inconvenience them haha. Dont take it personally as it is part of the authentic experience.

Been coming here for a couple years from Topeka. Got it for the first time while looking for dinner in Lawrence. Come back once in a while and always worth the drive.

The people who run this place are extremely rude for no reason. I literally got yelled at for not locating and approaching the cash register quickly enough. They also made fun of me in their home language and laughed at me, which is all pretty triggering for someone with social anxiety (which is the reason it took me a little bit of extra time to figure out how to approach the register).

Owners are hilariously unfriendly, but not always. Best pad Thai around with limited options. Worth the to-go wait. Piping hot, fresh and always a heaping portion. Tofu fried to juicy perfection.

The male owner is rude and condescending. I heard him disrespect my wife on the phone and when she went in to the restaurant to pick up our order he was rude again. I went in to tell him to cancel the order. I wouldn't go here and I would expect this place to be closed in a year or so.

Simply amazing food by very kind people. Easily the best Thai food in Lawrence and in my personal Top 5 favorite places in general. To try it is to love it. I wish I could give it 6 stars. ♥️

I called in to order and the phone just rings and rings and rings....

Drove by to see if they were open, and they were, the open sign and the lights were on yet, not a single customer inside. I parked and called again with no luck.

I didn’t get to try their food but after reading the review comments, I don’t want to anymore, what’s wrong with them?

We went in for lunch and had a very nice time. Order at the counter and it was clear they made our food to order. We had pad thai and the noodles kee mow and both were very good. A really inexpensive and laid back place, would definitely go back.

They obviously don’t own an alarm clock. Sign says 12::00-10:00, but rarely are they even there before 12:30. Not real friendly either. Food is ok.

Under great Family ownership, very clean and absolutely thee best Thi-Chinese food ever...We moved and still travel to Lawrence to eat and enjoy.

Cannot compliment the food enough. We ordered take out while they were very busy, 35 minutes later it was hot and ready. We had orange chicken, chicken Panang curry, and Praram's chicken. We'll order all three again.

I went to order our food some woman, fairly young, was standing where they take your order. She was playing on her phone and totally ignored me. I even said hello, still nothing. So I put my money back in my pocket and we left. The woman yelled insults at us all the way out of there. Not going back!

There food is amazing. The chicken pad thai is perfect and the price is worth it.

They do have bad service. I find it comical in it's hole in the wall bad service. But definitely skip this place if you don't appreciate that because they will likely yell at you or tell you you're wrong.

Extremely rude! I dont think they appreciate our business! I came in to order a salad and eggrolls and told they dont have time! And prior to that she talks to her husband in her language loudly which is rude when it was obvious she's talking about me! Another time I called ahead and was told 30-45 minutes so in 30 minutes I called to make sure ready and she yelled we told you 40 minutes!! So I called after that in 40 so I dont show up and have to wait another 30 and her son yelled we told you 40 you just show up! If everyone calls in first to see if ready I'd be on phone all day you just show up!! I will never do business with such rudeness! Foods not worth this kind of abuse!

Ohh my goodness!!! Best Thai food or any other food in Lawrence! Great atmosphere, great people, fabulous menu, prices are reasonable but I'd eat there if they weren't!! A definite must try! You'll never want anything else!!

The food is ALWAYS delicious. Wish I would have known about it years ago. Everything made fresh. Really like the couple that own it. They are very helpful making my choice. I want to try every dish.

Of the few thai restaurants in Lawrence, this one has the best main courses in town.

Food is consistently amazing. It’s a mom and pop shop with nice decor and large quantity of food. The food prices are 7-10 dollars not exactly fast food prices but the food is delicious. The ONLY maybe-complaint I have is that they dedicate one of their tables to themselves. Like it has their paper work or boxes or some other stuff. It makes it look cluttered and adds to the hole in the wall feel. They keep the rest of their restaurant tidy and clean and I can easily over look that table because the rest of the experience is just too dang good.

Extremely poor service. No customer appreciation and the food quality was below average.
I definitely do not recommend sitting down to eat at this place, the place does not have restaurant ambience and the owner raises his voice to every second customers. Definitely not visiting this place again!

I can't comment on the food because the owner refused my order in a long winded tirade about walmart and big mac after I asked him if the spring rolls were gluten free. He wouldn't let me talk and just kept raising his voice every time I tried.

Pad Thai was delish. Called in my order and was able to pick up quick and on time. Prices were good. Maybe not the best place to eat in, but take out was really good.

Why do people complain about the service? They are always nice to me and smile. I guess it must help to have a smile on your face as well and not treat a small business owner like they owe you something for your patronage.

Incredibly rude service. Kept insisting that we call in next time. The vegetable stir fry had uncooked vegetables and a hair in it.

Seemed legit but very rude service. Cashier berated me for coming back into the restaurant to pick up my to-go order 8 minutes into my 15 minute wait. I was told to sit down and wait..

I don't go in but I'm told the service notes in other reviews are true. I do like the food, though.

Best pad Thai on the planet. I have eaten here 50+ times and never ordered anything else.

Delicious. Tum yon soup (#13) is a staple for me. Good is clean, tasty and well prepared. I have a restricted diet and can't eat most places. But I can always eat here. And do often. Price is good. Decor doesn't reveal quality o food.

We came in late for a take out. The owner was rude and the restaurant is not very clean. Th owner couple had poker face probably we didn't spend a good amount of money. However food was ok. It isn't worth what you have spent. I wish I can give him negative star. Won't go there again.

Did I tell you the woman cook, after handling money, didn't wash her hand before grabbing fresh ingredients? Terrible place.

Excellent Green Curry Chicken! Just the right amount of heat. If you don't like things spicy at all, it would still be too much for you, but to me it's just right. And the flavor was very good too. They served it with a big spoon, which was kind of hard to eat with, but manageable.
