I am so sorry to give them only two stars for the food. For AYCE at $29.00, dessert and drink not included, I did not get my money’s worth. The selections are few and the food was cold. The chicken pad thai was overcooked and mushy, the dishes are subpar. I’ve had much better and authentic thai food. Parking was a challenge.

Free Champagne Does Not Make Up For Poor Service

I visited this restaurant on a Monday evening for a friend’s birthday dinner. Based on the menu, the ambiance and the lovely customized birthday message on our table, I had high expectations. Unfortunately, I (actually my entire party) was highly disappointed. From valet to closing of the checks was just a terrible experience.

Our entire party arrived by 7:15, our server took at least 20 mins to come over and take our drink orders. Out of the 7 of us, we only had 3 mixed cocktails/mocktails and the rest of us had hot tea or Topo Chico (bottled)... it took 30 mins for these to come. The 3 apps that were ordered took another 15-20 mins to come out after the drinks were finally on our table and were cold upon arrival. Finally, our entrees took another 30-40 mins to come out and that was also cold. One entree was completely incorrect, and another was never put in.

Our server wasn’t attentive, he was combative and nonchalant when we initially brought our concerns to him regarding the service and food. We ended up having to bring our concerns to management, who apologized and sent over a complimentary bottle of champagne. Now, this would have been great; however, most of our party did not drink alcohol, so the gesture was nice, but it was also a waste as no one drank it.

I would like to visit again on a busier night to see if the service is better, but I’m not sure if I want to waste money on entrees if everything will still be cold or rubbery. I really hope the poor service is addressed. Management seems kind but our server Alex was not, and the timing of entrees being brought out could use a lot of improvement.

This is not a vegan restaurant, BUT an awesome Thai restaurant where they are able to make just about everything vegan. Huge shout out to Kiarra (I hope I spelled her name right) for THE BEST service!! She really looked out for the table and was so sweet as well as kind. The food was great to me and my party enjoyed their meals too! I was even able to try a vegan appetizer...yummm!! There's a parking garage across the street as well as valet parking. I think this may be a new spot for me to frequent. Loved it! #plant-based #vegan #deliciousveganfood

Went here for my three year anniversary and i LOVE this place. our server was nan i believe im sorry if i misspell her name but she was amazing!!!!! Im not from houston and I have always tried to look for places that are similar to my moms cooking (she’s lao) and this place taste exactly like how my mom cooks just with a little more fancy touches. The papaya salad only comes thai style so be prepared for some sweetness compared to lao style which is my favorite. However, everything else tasted perfect! Just wished they offered more roti for their curry sampler as appetizer. For our anniversary they gave us complementary ice cream and we greatly appreciate that!!! will definitely be coming back!!!!please ask for nan (i hope i spelled her name right im sorry) she’s the best and always try to make sure ur having a good time!

Let me start by saying that I don’t usually write reviews, but I feel others should be aware.

My friends and I went on 2/15, and it was horrible—probably the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. Our server took 20 minutes just to ask what we wanted to drink, another 20 minutes to bring the drink (a lemonade), and then 30 more minutes to take our order. We had to ask another server to get him because, otherwise, he probably wouldn’t have come at all. After that, it took another 30 minutes for the food to arrive, only for it to be disgusting and cold (I ordered the crispy chicken with rice). Then, it took another 30 minutes just to get our bill, and once again, we had to ask another server to go find him.
(BTW it wasn’t packed at all)- ALSO he never came to our table to check on us or nothing. Only time he came to our table was basically because of us asking someone to go get him for us.
Not only was the service and food terrible, but he also tried to charge us for items we didn’t even order. If I could give this place zero stars, I would..

Diner Review №8

This has been one of the most horrible experiences I’ve had. It took 20 minutes to get a Diet Coke and it was not busy. When I ordered my food the waiter came out 15 minutes later to tell me they were out of chicken. Waiter never came to check on the table. I had to call him over in order to order. The only great thing was the DJ her music was amazing! But will not be coming back. I waited 40 mins for some beef drunken noodles that were warm not even hot!! Do better Makiin.

Diner Review №9

Y’all I know I ain’t crazy when I say this. This place has very nice lounge-y interior, but terrible food!
Waiter was very nice though. The “Instagram worthy” interior is just to cover up and to bring in people for the under bar food.

BG: Valentine’s Day, $29 AYCE lunch special (9 dishes included from their classic menu) + (extra) galangal crème brûlée, first time.

Notes: rice was over cooked, drunken noodles (the noodles were starchy) flavor was bland, pad see ew noodles were starchy & veggies were raw, (Tom yum soup and curry was good though).

-crème brûlée ($13) for the dish + a very small cup of tea. Brûlée was undercooked BUT good flavor.

Everyone in the restaurant had the same face as ours. Like you HAD to eat it because you were already there. I am so glad we didn’t order the classic dishes on its own ($15-$30 a dish) that would’ve been a waste. We couldn’t even finish one plate for the ayce buffet. It wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t good. They put all their effort into the interior look and none into the actual food! We were still hungry and wanted to try maybe a signature dish. Maybe it would taste better, but we saw a table next to us order them and they said it tastes bad. We lost all hope for the rest.

Extra notes: I thought we would be served small dishes from the classic menu to our table, but there’s literally a cafeteria style buffet in the back you have to get your food from. Not what i was expecting from the social media posts and from an upscale restaurant. Loud edm covers music (not romantic)

I am not a picky eater at all. This was the first time I ever went to a restaurant and didn’t like any of the food…

Rating:
Classic dishes: 4/10 (points only for the curry and soup)
Crème brûlée: 6/10
Mimosa: 9/10 (strong though be careful. Less citrus-y, more alcohol)

Diner Review №10

I visited this restaurant for a business dinner. The ambience, services and food were top notch. The server was welcoming and explained the menu very well. We had dietary restrictions and she made sure with the chef what options were okay for us to try. I have had thai food in Bangkok and Phuket. The food and the experience, did not disappoint me or our guests at all. The restaurant did get busy later in the evening, but that's any good restaurant nowadays. I would consider Makiin my place of choice when it comes to Thai food in Houston. I'd definitely visit again!

Diner Review №11

Amazing atmosphere, great food and drinks.

Diner Review №12

The only reason this place even got a star was simply off the strength that they had clearly outlined plant-based options. I ordered the vegan curry with roti which was tasty but the drunken noodles for my entree, which they forgot to put in when taking the orders at our table. We all waited over an hour for our food to arrive, but I had to wait longer since they forgot to put it in only for the noodles to be quite mediocre in flavor. The service was very slow and they just weren’t sympathetic or verbally apologetic for their lack of urgency. If they were short staffed, not once did they express that or make us aware so doubt that was the issue. It was clear that they prioritized certain customers and not others which was disheartening as we were celebrating a friend’s birthday. After all that, there were no discounts offered for the inconveniences which to me was again poor customer service. The one time I heard “I apologize for the inconvenience” was after I said out loud that “this whole meal was an inconvenience.” 🤦🏾‍♀️ Hopefully they get it together because they could be a nice spot but I will not be returning.

Diner Review №13

Service was nonexistent. The food was disappointing. The AYCE was a small buffet with a sad selection; the worst Pad Thai and Tom Yum soup I've ever had. The photo is all I ate for $30. The best Thai food I've had in the Houston area is at Thai Halal Bistro in Sugar Land!

Diner Review №14

The presentation is by far the strength of this place. I mean look at the karn blue gem and tonburi smoky (which was actually smoky) that we got. However, the taste of both the food and drinks were nothing special. Worth a visit but not going on my favorites list.

Diner Review №15

This restaurant is definitely one to remember. The ambiance is stunning, with a beautifully designed space that sets the perfect mood. The bar staff is incredibly knowledgeable, going the extra mile to ensure every drink and dish is just right.

The food? Outstanding. For Thai fusion, it’s top-tier. The calamari with black caviar is a must-try—delicate, flavorful, and unique. The charm fried rice is packed with deep, perfectly balanced flavors, and the crispy garlic chicken? Absolutely delicious.

Beyond the food, the experience itself is top-notch. The bartenders, especially Lynn and her counterpart, are some of the best in the business, crafting excellent drinks with great service.

This spot is officially on our regular rotation, and I can’t wait to go back for another incredible meal and cocktails.

Incredible food great atmosphere with live music. A Houston must eat. Chef has incredible twists on classic Thai dishes and many new flavor combinations that invigorate the pallete. Coconut ice cream was so creamy and perfect. Service is incredible and personalized. Nann our server was so sweet and really elevated our dining experience.

Had gone to celebrate my wife birthday. Green thai curry and roti canai with the three dips was awesome plus the coconut ice cream. Portion size of the canapés could have been better. Service was top notch and we got an attentive server. If you are looking to taking pictures the ambience is dark and the staff helps with a ring light but not sure that is the best way. Overall will come back!

Diner Review №20

This place is overhyped. I was excited to try this place since I saw it on IG but the food is average. I don’t know if the food was only average because I came in on a Saturday for the lunch buffet…

- Thai tea was overly sweet as if I was drinking a cup of sugar.
- Coconut ice cream was slightly gummy which was weird.
- Buffet setup only had like 10 items including jasmine rice. A little disappointing.

TBH, I think there’s better Thai restaurants in Houston.

Yesterday my family and boyfriend came to eat and have a good time because I saw this place on tiktok and thought it would be amazing. My mom doesn’t really like trying new things but I assured her it would be a great experience and food. The food was good and our waiter was great, but when we were had finished up and paid we were sitting and talking for a little while and one of the staff came over and started wiping down where we were sitting. My mom was very offended by this and after I thought about it so was I. How can you wipe down a place where people are still at usually they wipe it down after you leave. It was as if we were being rushed out after we paid good money to be there. I don’t think that’s how to run a business and it didn’t look full of people for that to be happening. Don’t waste your time unless you want to be rushed out lol.

Diner Review №25

I've been wanting to check out this place so we came here for a group dinner. Reservation was easy by calling the restaurant. It's more of an upscale Thai restaurant given the ambience. The menu was on a tablet and I liked that it had pictures too.

We didn't have to wait too long for the food to come out. We picked a variety of dishes to try below. Portion wasn't great for sharing. I didn't feel that any dish really stood out. I was expecting a twist to the Thai dishes but the food was subpar. Overall, service was friendly and attentive. They brought out birthday desserts for us given we were celebrating two birthdays.

- soft shell crab papaya salad
- royal pad thai delight
- flavor of siam filet mignon
- charm fried rice
- crispy garlic chicken
- beef massaman curry
- mango sticky rice
- dessert wonderland

Diner Review №26

Totally not worth the hype. We tried the buffet and the food was okay but nothing great. Several workers checked the buffet line while we were getting food and yet two items were completely empty with other dishes on the way to empty. The server was nice, but service left a lot to be desired. Very slow even though the restaurant wasn't full. We wanted to order from the menu but it took so long for them to check on us/ take our order that we ended up going to the buffet line. Our plate was not taken away when we went for other servings in the buffet line. Took a while to get our check too. We decided to skip dessert as we didn't want to wait even longer for not-so-great-sounding items. We spent $100 for three buffets.
Would not recommend or go back as there are other great restaurants at the same price range.

Diner Review №29

What a total waste of time. We were the second table to sit down at lunchtime and ordered at noon. 12:45 we had gotten one side of Brussels sprouts delivered. Every table that sat down after us had received multiple courses of food. Every update was “still waiting” from the waitress. Asked to speak to the manager and he was “too busy” cooking to come and speak with me about why it had been so long and for some reason everyone else’s food was coming out before ours. Don’t recommend coming and wasting your time here, when they can’t even be bothered to come explain why no food has showed up.

Ordered my whole meal from Nara in the parking lot and it was ready for pickup when I got there 10 minutes later.

Diner Review №30

There’s no parking in the center, so I walked in. There was no host, and I had to wait 20 minutes. When it was finally my turn, I was told to wait an additional 10 to 20 minutes. It’s clear they are understaffed; if you’re offering a great deal like an all-you-can-eat , you need sufficient staff to support that concept. I was looking forward to enjoying good food, but the service was really disappointing. I couldn't even get a table, and it took me 20 minutes to find a parking spot.

Diner Review №31

Ambiance was amazing! Food was flavorful and was good. It’s not the best but it is up there for sure.

Diner Review №32

More upscale Thai infusion food. Really great presentations with their cocktails, food plating, & the desserts. My favorite was their colored coconut ice cream with some type of smoke fog coming out of it. They have some mocktail options as well. I really like the ambiance the most. Sitting at the bar is a whole vibe. Various items to choose from whether you’re a carnivore or gluten free & vegan. Can get pricy if you are ordering multiple dishes but worth it. You’re coming for the experience & leaving with a smile on your face. I saw a lot of birthday parties here and dates. It is intimate, romantic atmosphere. They have live music sometimes and a DJ who comes out. No dance floor or anything.

Pretty inside but the food is mid.

Diner Review №35

TLDR: Food is terribly executed, not fresh, and both unauthentic and unoriginal . The WORST “Thai” food we’ve ever tasted. Avoid this place.

Service: good. Attentive, friendly and polite. Manager visited table after we sent one entree back. He ended up comping both entrees (he must know how bad it all is)

Atmosphere: it’s definitely a vibe. Not the vibe my wife and I were looking forward to, but the dinner-before-hitting-the-club and/or instagram pic crowd seem to enjoy. From the pictures in reviews, you could think it’s a cool, romantic, well lit and decorated new concept. Once you’re in there, you can see and feel how cheap and gaudy the decor really is. The music is too loud and not dining music. They cram customers together in certain sections, while around half of the seats are empty.

Food:
Appetizer Symphony (it’s “chef’s selection, so be warned it can be anything they want to give you and not what’s in the picture, but probably doesn’t matter. It was all awful)

From top to bottom of our tower-

Cube of watermelon- the watermelon was tasteless, low quality (why you giving us watermelon in January?) that had clearly been sitting around for a couple of days so it was slimy and not crisp. Topped with tajin and I guess some other stuff. Gross.

Mystery slop- nearly gagged getting this down. Shredded chicken? Crab? Meat? Clearly thawed from frozen. Vague wet animal food flavor. (These are all designed as one bite pieces, so the whole thing went in and it was a true struggle getting it down)

Peanut butter leaf- clearly a “take” on actual true Thai dish. The only flavor was heavy peanut butter, followed by hint of spicy. No nuance, no depth of flavor. My wife searched for her napkin to spit out hers

Soylent Green brick- the pièce de résistance. The “chef” should be proud of their use of decade old cool cheffy techniques here. Tiny squeeze test tube of store bought sweet Thai chili sauce. Topped with a quail egg. The egg was admittedly well executed. The main item was a green cakey thing. Rubbery on the outside. Mushy on the inside. Little to no actual flavor. Clearly frozen and thawed. Thankfully only took a small bite of this and left the rest.

Beef Massaman Curry- so salty it was inedible. After we did, the table next to us told us they wished they had sent theirs back too because of the salt.

Crispy Garlic Chicken- waaaay overcooked. Possibly par cooked and finished to order. Despite it being chicken thighs, it was still extremely dry. The sauce was just sweet and jarred garlic. Not something I’d be happy with, even for half the exorbitant price.

Sides of rice- HOW DO YOU SCREW UP RICE?!? By serving old, dried out rice. Ugh. Any random cheap take out spot has fresh rice that is 10x better than what is served here.

Came here on a date, and I honestly and truthfully we will probably not come back. Granted we were a bit late as there was no parking but when we came into the restaurant we stood at the hostess booth for 5-10 minutes before someone acknowledged us. Server even passed us up without saying anything…so disrespectful.

The food…it was very bland and my boyfriend ate his crispy garlic chicken because he was hungry but he didn’t care for it. It wasn’t crispy and was a bit on the soggy side.

I ordered the seafood dish with vermicelli noodles and it was flavorless.

On top of that the server barely came to our table to check on us, or even ask us if we liked the food. I really was excited to try this place, but they dropped the ball. Definitely do not recommend and will not be returning.

My date and I came to Makiin on a Saturday evening for dinner, and it was a wonderful experience.

I started with a cocktail that had lychee at the bottom of the drink. It was delicious. Our waitress brought out pomelo refreshment before any of our food arrived.

We had the appetizer symphony, which are chef selected mixed bites. Each bite-sized appetizer was different in flavor and texture from the next. We also ordered the creamy thai comfort, which is their tom kha. The soup was fragrant.

For entrees, we had the antique charm fried rice and the salmon royale. The fried rice was great. the salmon was well seasoned and the curry was very rich. The only hiccup was that the salmon arrived undercooked in the middle, but both our waitress and the manager took measures to alleviate this.

For desserts, we had the coconut ice cream fantasy and zesty mango sticky rice. Both desserts were light, sweet, and refreshing. We would come back again!

First, the food was amazing!! Very flavorful and presented well on the plates.
Service quality was not great, very poor. Ignored.
We had a reservation and found out it was listed as a no show, found this out after I called to get a refund for double charges on my check. It was my daughter’s birthday and it was supposed to fun and special and they failed to make it happen.
When we arrived at 3 pm, the server told us to seat ourselves… other customers came in and were seated.
I order our entrees and mines came out first, it’s customary to eat the meals together. I waited so long my soup got cold. I had to wait for the manager to come to ask what was wrong. I explained that soup typically is not shared and we are waiting for my daughter food. They thought we were sharing the soup!!!! Flabbergasted.
Took 15-20 minutes for our food to come out together.
I paid and could not see my charges on the app until I got a text to rate my experience along with my charges, only to find out that I was charged twice.
I called immediately and was told the manager would call be back in a few minutes, no call. I called the next day to get the same response.
If you want to eat here, order take out and go home or eat in the park. You’ll have a better time.
Won’t be coming back. Visiting Houston food spots have been disappointing. Customer service is awful.

Came here for my birthday. We got the drunken adventure , pad Thai, and tom yum. Drunken adventure . Good flavor. Nothing special. Pretty traditional. Pad Thai great flavor ! Lobster was cooked really well too. Tom yum had a nice fancy presentation . Think it was the waiters first time doing it though. He warms it up in what looks like a bong 😅😅 wasn’t that warm when he poured it out though . Should’ve heated longer and it also had the least flavor out of the 3 dishes.
We had two appetizers as well. Calamari was soggy in the sauce and needed more seasoning. But the brussel sprouts were GREAT! Cooked perfectly too! They had live music on a Thursday night. She was great.

My partner took me here for birthday. Upon our arrival we did have a little trouble actually finding the place so we needed up calling and they gave us perfect instructions which led us right to the restaurant! We did place a reservation but around the time we went it was not very busy. But reservations are always encouraged so usually we try to make them. We put on the reservation that it was for my birthday so they gave us a really cute little letter board that said “happy birthday”. The place was very cute and had a calm ambiance. It was very quiet which I am not to used to. There was some background music which helped with that though. Our server was a polite young woman who was very attentive with our needs. Especially when we had questions or needed recommendations. The buzzer also was super quick when it came to empty plates and water refills. The appetizer was called Pangang Dumpling which were very crispy and yummy. For entree my partner got The Drunken Adventure and I got the Noodle Magic. Both portions were super big and scrumptious. I asked for some hot sauce because I love spice and our server promptly delivered a hot sauce flight! We also had noticed they served tea so I decided to get some of the yuzu green tea which was delivered with some honey! Since it was my birthday I got a complimentary ice cream which we split. It was a watermelon sorbet. 10/10 would eat here over and over again!

NOT COMING BACK. Over all disappointing visit and not worth the money. Great service, Horrible food (I would not ever order the dishes we ordered if I had to do it again) & horrible atmosphere (tight space, my left and right table is arm length away and I can hear every part of their conversation). Dinner for 2 however we ordered a lot to experience the different dishes. We ordered the Appetizer Symphony, Softshell crab papaya, Sizzling Northern Adventure & Golden Turmeric Deep Sea, coconut ice cream & mango sweet rice.
Golden Turmeric Deep Sea is a $68 plate - they give you very little dipping sauce. In the end, it tastes like deep fried fish with a yummy sauce. Pretty good but tastes more like a $35 plate.
Softshell crab papaya - This was a joke. Softshell crab was not fresh at all.
Sizzling Northern Adventure - Curry is great but there's nothing to eat with it. The short rib was super fatty and they only gave us 2 small bones. The noodle became super soggy because they poured super hot curry on it.
Appetizer Syphony - Khao Tang Na Tang = not so crispy and shrimp floss not so fresh.
Chives Cake Sunrise = sriracha sweet chili sauce pretty good and chive cake, no complaint here.
Thai-Kick Chicken = dry meat and all you can taste is the spice.
SUMMER Salad = tastes like fishy watermelon (not good)
Coconut ice cream was tasty but very small portion. Mango Sweet Rice - the rice was dry but I maybe a bit biased as we make this at home and it's a 100 times better.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting this Thai restaurant for afternoon tea, thanks to a friend from my Tea Group who chose it for her birthday celebration. From the moment we arrived, I was thoroughly impressed by the attention to detail.

The restaurant’s decor was stunning, with beautifully hand-painted tea sets and elegant dishware that added a touch of sophistication to our experience. Each component, from the stemware to the flatware, was thoughtfully curated, creating a delightful atmosphere perfect for a celebration.

The food itself was exquisite. We opted for the unlimited service, and the staff graciously kept the delicious offerings coming until we finally said we had enough. Every plate was artfully arranged, showcasing not only the flavors but also the care that went into presentation.

The ambience was enhanced by charming decorations, including a lovely light-up sign for my friend’s birthday, which added a personal touch to our celebration. The service was exemplary; the staff was attentive without being intrusive, ensuring that our experience was seamless and enjoyable.

A highlight of our visit was speaking with the owner, who expressed her heartfelt gratitude for our presence. It was clear she puts immense effort into the restaurant, and her passion for creating a welcoming environment truly shone through.

Overall, this restaurant is a hidden gem that brilliantly combines the art of afternoon tea with a Thai twist. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and memorable tea experience. We left feeling pampered and appreciated, and I can’t wait to return!

The food was amazing! I ordered the garlic chicken with the jasmine rice as my entree which had a great flavor profile and textures. I also order the crab rangoons, which were the best ones I have EVER had. The chef also prepared a palate cleanser which was something I have never experienced before. The different textures and flavors in that small bite were so refreshing and unexpected! Highly recommend trying this place!

Had wonderful experience with the ambiance and our models being apart of the grand opening, create entertainment and thai food experience.

Diner Review №84

Went there recently and food was great. Love the pumpkin curry and the appetizers.

There was a tree desert where it looked like a cherry blossom tree made out of cotton candy. That was really awesome to see. Sorry didn't take any pictures.

Diner Review №85

The Basil mussels are the very best. I love the service here. The quality of the tack out and the diversity in flavors. Love this place!

Diner Review №86

Walked in to check out the place and decided to sit at the bar. The service was wonderful and the drinks our group got were delicious. The DJ was playing amazing music and the design was cute. Can’t wait to come back.

Diner Review №87

The service was terrible.

I took my review down because I thought they were gonna do something about their valet driver but no response from management. I wouldn’t let the valet park your car one of them kicked my rim and as I was leaving he tried blocking me in with a customers car. Guess I’ll be pressing charges still against the restaurant and valet service.

Wonderful food and experience!

Diner Review №92

One word to summarize: DELICIOUS

FOOD: The food was amazing. I happened to visit during restaurants week, but the menu looked so delicious we ordered from both menus 😅
We ordered the silken calamari soiree, curry carnival, Thai grilled pork bliss, crispy delights unleashed (these names, huh? 🤣), I'll keep it short and sweet, AMAZING.

For entrées, we got the Salmon Royale and the esan pork rib... same sentiment as above.

And if you've read any of my other reviews, you know it's all about the dessert! We had sticky rice and creme brulee (I don't feel like getting the actual menu names), again delicious, amazing etc etc. My creme brulee came with a nice surprise... lemongrass tea...wow! I thought Thai tea was the best tea ever, and then I tried this lemongrass tea.

Can I just mention how beautiful the plating is? Everything about this restaurant was intentionally thought through thoroughly (look what I just did there lol).

Ok, ok....surely, it couldn't be that AMAZING, lol. Well, it was on the salty side for me. I'm someone who was raised on less salt is better for your heart (completely true), so I'm sensitive to salt and the food was saltier than I would have liked but it was so delicious, I also ate it all. Since, I'm not Thai, I can't speak to the authenticity of the food, but it is the closest thing to Thai gourmet. I'll edit this after my visit to Thailand 😄

SERVICE: Excellent. Our waiter (and now I regret that I have forgotten his name... we'll blame that on age) was super knowledgeable, polite, kind and attentive.

AMBIENCE: Again, the word AMAZING makes its way here again. The restaurant is welcoming yet sophisticated yet hip yet grown and sexy.

PRICE: $$$ well worth it. AS I looked around at other meals, the portion sizes are HUGE!

I haven't been this happy eating out in a while, so thanks MaKiin for restoring my belief in the new restaurants on the scene. I'm about to be a regular.

Diner Review №93

fun dishes the tom kha is a trackside pour, the roti is a curry flight and the appetizer flight is nestled in leaves of a tree. the flavors and hard hitting and express. the service and dining room are equally as great

Diner Review №94

I recently visited this Thai restaurant, and while the atmosphere was amazing and we had fun taking pictures of the colorful decor and dishes, the food itself was a bit of a letdown. Some of the dishes lacked flavor, while others were overly salty. The presentation was great, but the taste just didn't live up to expectations. Overall, it's an okay spot if you're looking for a nice atmosphere, but I wish the flavors had been more balanced.

Diner Review №95

10/10 ⭐️ The vibes were vibinggg on ladies night! Our waitress was so kind, bubbly, and energetic! Awesome musician and the ambience is perfect. Will definitely be back! 🤩

Diner Review №96

Hands down the best Thai restaurant in Houston! Makiin truly captures the essence of Thai cuisine and presents elevated thai food experience amazingly well. Often times modern Thai restaurants will take inspiration from Thai dishes and turn them into something they’re not. But Makiin stays true to the original Thai dishes and makes them the center piece. Every dish was thought through and meticulously executed. This is what an authentic modern Thai restaurant should be!

The ambiance will transport you to Thailand. Every piece of decor is from all regions of Thailand, from northern Thailand to its Thai-Chinatown- and even the finishing touches of the gold emblems at the restaurant are made using the same process at the Thai temples. Makiin aims to give the true experience of Thailand and delivers.

Diner Review №97

Drinks were not good.
Never understand the 3 shots, sweet, tequila, and rum.
Food was ok but too expensive.

Go, but with low expectations.

Everything tasted sweet to me, maybe Thai food is not my cup of tea, but good high class service.

I'm
A frequent dinner and typically enjoy my overall experience when I come,However this time was not that.Ordered takeout the night before last only for Alex, the manager to be very rude and insulting. I always get the curry broth because I don't eat meat only to find the portion size half of the size of the past times I've ordered and was the wrong curry I ordered. I had shared with him that I get the massaman curry broth all the time and they never skimp on the portion size and they provide rice. I wasn't so much bothered that they didn't give rice but the portion size was my main issue. Now keep in mind I had already placed my order over the phone so when I got there and my food was the wrong curry and he wanted to charge me more for a smaller portion I shared with him I'm not paying anymore for a smaller portion that's crazy. He said he would make it right I had took a call went outside n came back shortly after only to find that he had only gave me the other curry but didn't correct the portion size. When I asked about the portion and why it was only half full when any other time the container is full he had the audacity to say that's just the portion and he wasn't going to make it right. Had it not been busy I would have asked to talk to the owner. He was very condescending I had to wait additional time for them to remake my food and when I shared my concerns about his attitude and portion he didn't offer an opportunity or try to make a effort for the wait or customer dissatisfaction. Worst experience there and will not return and will be telling my friends not to go as long as management treats their patrons like that!! Bad for business!!!

A hidden gem where you experience various true Thia flavors imported straight from the villages in Northern Thialand.

As many have read my reviews, I am very hard core about hospitality and every little detail from the minute I walk in the restaurant.

Makiin, this restaurant will definitely be a great story to tell if you go.

The design of the restaurant is beautiful, great ambience, clean, and organized. I am not a big fan of bars in the middle of restaurant but this place is actually well put. More of loungy restaurant where you can enjoy great music in the background but also carry a conversation with your guests.

Food was great, I tried many different appetizers with a main course dish, which was beef curry with rice. The aroma and combination of flavors are excellent. The variety of these flavors are balanced and has this devine taste.

Hostess: she was very friendly, super welcoming.

Service: we sat at the bar. High Chairs were comfortable and soft. Bar area was clean and organized. Our bartender was super knowledgeable and accommodated our drink specialties. He knew the menu very well and recommended some of the items you see in the pictures.

Dessert: creme brulee was super nice comes with hibiscus tea cup , a nice design with a little touch for the presentation.

Design: There are many details where the silverware was placed on a dragon holder. Super cool representation. Also the Statues around the bar took 6 months to get permit to be shipped to USA because it's very sacred to the Thia government. Tables were setup very nice and beautiful choice of colors.

Restrooms : Beautiful, clean, and well done on the design.

Patio: looks nice and neat, I would definitely try to make the wall higher little bit fir more privacy, and install some fans for air circulation.

Parking: plenty of parking, assuming that the valet is also in charge on the weekends.

Location: prime location, little hidden from the main street of Kirby.

I recommend this place for dates and special occasions. Staff and owner are super friendly and showed us great hospitality and service.

Friends from Outside of the country came to visit and we went to experience the restaurant and we had a very disappointed dinner, we tried the HRW menu and 3 rounds of drinks with some shots and the server was really not into our table, at 5:00 pm it was not even busy, we never had Thai food before and we told him, he didn’t explain nothing to us, we had to ask many times about the food and we notice just at the table next to us other server explaining every detail of the plates and that table had only apps and desserts, I understand the server could think we had a cheap menu but we had so many things more, the drinks were not really good, I ask to change one of the drinks and the second one I don’t even finish it and the server never even ask if it was good. Really amazing presentation for instagram pics but just that.

Diner Review №109

Food was great but too pricey

Diner Review №110

For about $75.00 per person, we shared an array of appetizers, entrees, deserts, and drinks. Overall, the food tasted great, with notable presentation.

I ordered the Garden Bowl Elegance. It had very fresh vegetables and tofu, with a crispy tofu skin to balance the texture. The oyster sauce was a rich, savory addition to the flavor. It came with a side of Jasmine rice that was warm and well cooked.

The chocolate tree was beautiful in presentation but somewhat disappointing in flavor. It was literally cotton candy and chocolate, and the quality wasn't too notable either. I thought it might be better with some sort of cake, crispy rice, gnache, or wafer filling to at least make the chocolate portion stand out. The cotton candy could also come in maybe 2 or 3 parts, so sharing it is not as messy.

The ambience was nice, giving off an elegant Thai and club vibe. The staff was very pleasant and attentive to our table.

Overall, great presentation, great food, great environment, but the chocolate tree could do better.

Diner Review №111

Food left a bit to be desired but the atmosphere and service was great.

Diner Review №112

Makiin is a very nice establishment on top of the esthetics and the vibe was definitely there. Did a tea party birthday on a Saturday and the experience was amazing both tea choices were delicious (lemon grass and butterfly pea) Nan did an amazing job of explaining all the food items and making sure we had everything we needed and just a wonderful host all around she also deserves Five stars!!!
I will be going back!

Bad service and foods came out very slow and cold.

Diner Review №115

The quality does not match the price point…..in any category.

Diner Review №116

Fun vibe but the menus were very irritating- screen shots on an iPad. The food was good, but not great. Except the mussels were 10/10.

Diner Review №117

Food order was in at 9:20, it’s 10:10 right now as i am writing this and nobody’s bother to bring the food out or worst bother checking on the table. The bartender saw, swung by, spoke to us & tried to help, but nothing.
Terrible service. The appetizers we had in the beginning were excellent though. We thought that the food would be as good as well, but 50 minutes wait was too much for us. Had to leave and go to a different restaurant to eat.

Diner Review №118

Dined here multiple times now and the experience has always been a pleasure.

The food has hit the mark every time across a variety of dishes, the service is consistent, and the atmosphere doesn’t overwhelm your senses.

Diner Review №119

Nice restaurant with lots of Thai’s decor.
If you like little details, taking pictures, checking in places, posting to social media, it’s the place.
If you want to eat good food, taste authentic, you will be disappointed. I feel like they focus too much on little details and totally forget that the food has to tast good as well. The “Symphony Appetizer” was a joke. It Looked great! but what were I eating? 😤😂
Not even mention the service here. It’s super slow with bad management. Overall, it’s just an experience for us.

Diner Review №126

Nestled in the classy River Oaks neighborhood of Houston Texas, Makiin Thai is a culinary gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience. It acts as a true destination escape. The fine details in the decor definitely reminded me of the beautiful culture I encountered in my visits to Thailand. The owner, a native Thai business woman, share with me it was her desire to bring a memorable Thai cultural experience to Houston’s culinary scene.

On my recent visit, I had the pleasure of trying two of their delicious seafood dishes: the Panang Salmon and the Ocean Medley. The prices, were well justified by the generous portions of high-quality seafood and the top-notch presentation that graced each plate.

Beyond the food, Makiin Thai's ambiance sets it apart. The interior is a stunning blend of gold, red and tiny beautiful details creating a cool lounge vibe that is both sophisticated and inviting. The instagrammable bar, with its Thai inspired cocktails, is the perfect spot to start your evening. The entrance, adorned with a red carpet and majestic golden doors, offers a grand welcome that hints at the exceptional experience to follow. (Also fun for your social media adds)

Lastly the service: I sat at the Bar and had a very friendly experience. The drinks were professionally presented and well balanced. Food was served in a timely manner and my dishes were explained to a T. Thank you so much for such a fun night!

I recommend Makiin Thai for those looking to impress on a date night or celebrate something special with a large gathering (I saw a group on the other end of the restaurant and it looked fun).

A great date night spot or place for group events. On a weekday night, would definitely be a great spot to grab a drink and enjoy the vibes.

Diner Review №130

This restaurant is immaculate and beautiful. The decor is very classy and elegant. We were here to celebrate a birthday and they had a happy birthday sign on the table. The drinks were so good. The mango cocktail was spicy and smooth. The mussels were to die for. These are the best mussels I’ve ever had. The calamari was very crispy and yummy. The Pad Thai was also very good. The sizzling northern adventure was rich and delicious as well. I didn’t love the flavorful drunken adventure. It was kind of dry and lacked flavor. The service was impeccable and very friendly. The live music was a nice touch as well. It was great and not too loud. We didn’t have room for dessert but would love to come back to try more dishes.

Beautiful interior and plating. Very nice manager and servers. Appetizers (crab bites, corn fritters), cocktails (hua hin mango, blue gem, shot trio), entrees (antique charm fried rice and salmon royale) and dessert (dessert wonderland) were delicious. I would order everything, but the salmon again. I am excited to come back and try more! The dessert and cocktails alone are worth a visit for the fun whimsy of the cotton candy tree with delicious drinks!

We had a reservation for 5:45 pm last night. We arrived on time, restaurant still pretty empty. The hostess seated us without saying a word at the table and left. I figured out the menu was the tablets. We sat around for about 8-10 minutes absolutely nobody approaching us. I saw several waiters standing in corners, one of them yawning. I didn’t understand why nobody came to us, so I waived to one waitress asking for someone to attend us. She said, oh I’m calling your waitress! Okay, so finally our waitress came apologized for not being in the dining room. By then, my mood was gone. I asked for calamari and garlic chicken , both of them very average or below average. The garlic chicken was so salty that I didn’t eat more than 2 bites. I got pretty much all of my food to go as my husband said he’ll try to eat it at home later. I didn’t say the waitress that my food was bad, i didn’t want to converse, I was already done with this place. I give one star because our waitress eventually was very pleasant and my not picky husband ate all his food. We are not coming back.

Diner Review №136

4 stars because it’s Thai food and my rating criteria is tough since Thai was my first language.
Atmosphere is the best in Houston for a Thai restaurant. Beautifully decorated with many old Thai artifacts. Spacious and cozy.
Parking can be difficult and valet is probably a must.
The service was mediocre. Perhaps it was a Sunday afternoon so the staff were not in their A game. Perhaps lack of organized training.
However, they were polite and showed efforts.
The food tasted very good. Delicious! However, it was not as authentic, but I do not think that was the intention. They put a lot of thoughts and ideas in designing each dish. Loved their Thai- theme cocktails. Some ingredients provoked a new adventure for your taste buds. I think Thai food foodies must try at least once.

Diner Review №137

Come to MaiKiin restaurant on a Sunday evening for dinner. My first impression on the atmosphere of this place, mixture of Thai and Western culture. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful in suggestions for order. The service here is quick and friendly. There is a Live music in the evening so it might a bit noisy if you looking for enjoyment date, however, I do enjoy the Live music here. The food was great, but a bit different from my taste.

Authentic with good quality ingredients
However food is much too salty;
Would be so much better if they reduced the salt
I’m still drinking jugs of water at home…
Not sure I’ll want to come back with this much salt in every dish: basil chicken, crispy shrimp, Panang dumplings. All super salty! Otherwise would be my new favorite Thai restaurant. Move over rim Tanon’

Pretty neat spot.

Diner Review №147

We reserved a table and they not only rejected but made us feel like we were beggars…you could reject but can say it politely without hurting feelings of customer. Especially manager needs to learn how to be nice.

Diner Review №148

Service was great but for the love of god please change the type of meat used in the khao Soi (sizzling northern adventure). It’s a disservice to the perfection of what real khao Soi is. The choice of meat used is hard to pull apart and when served in a bowl there’s no way of cutting it. Also, when it’s that thinly cut, the meat doesn’t soak up the flavors of the soup the same.
Lastly, the consistency of the soup is slightly thick for khao Soi. It’s in between where khao Soi should be and almost a curry. The flavor is good though.

Diner Review №149

Probably the best Thai restaurant in Houston. We had the Summer Salad for appetizer and it was amazing. Pad Thai and Pad Krapow were 100% authentic. Certainly don’t skip the dessert! Kudos to our server Nan, she was delightful

Diner Review №152

I, along with my party of 5 had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. Brought my aunt for a late mother’s day celebration and a visiting friend for Memorial Weekend from Los Angeles for his birthday along with my husband who was also out of town and myself who just came back from Hawaii so this is really an eventful weekend for us.

At first, during the booking and changing the party from 3 to 5, it was a delightful phone experience, however when we got there we noticed it was hot right away. That was fine because its tolerable but still the men were wearing buttoned up and and long sleeve shirts. Kudos to our waitress who gave me a hand fan from her car! That is really much appreciated!

Ambience was nice, aesthetic was on point remind me of my travels to thailand a lot! Food however was so-so! Pad thai was not blended. Best sauce ever for roti though! Our waiter was knowlesgeable as well. I’m on bankok every month before in my travels and I can’t help to compare the flavors - i don’t know if they’ve taken the dish to a very safe side but interesting that i’ve eaten better dishes on the less pricier side of town.

You see we love eating out and enjoy our travels with food and dining experiences. Unfortunately, there are a couple of things we did not not appreciate here. We ordered a bunch of dishes including the market turmeric deep fried fish that they took away without asking us about it. Evidently there is still the head and tail part that we are all going to to eat and was just savoring and having conversations in between. Another part was most of us specially my aunt is obviously working on the food because her cutleries are still arranged as someone who is still working on our food they also came and asked if we are done eating, then they took the plates away. Then , we’ve been asked again 3x following that if we are working on it. Obviously, one of us managed to keep our plate and at that point we felt rushed already and decided not to even order dessert. We understand that they close at 10 and we got there by 8 and even saw a party coming in past 9 so we are aware we have time so I don’t understand what was the rush about. To top it up, by the time we were leaving they also charged us a dessert that we did not order which the manager managed to reverse after we stepped outside. With all of us leaving town again at 5am the next day, we all felt we waisted our time and specially my hard earned money coming here. I waited to be able to come ro your restaurant for a special occasion and I got really disappointed. My expectation is high given the reviews, location and price point.

I highly suggest a couple of things, inform customers in advance that there’s no ac prior to coming in or in my case informed me at least, 2nd is to add more upscale fine dining training to service staff. I want to handle this calmly and didn’t want to cause any uncomfortable situation for everyone since its a weekend of celebrationbut I hope your management will do something about this.

Diner Review №153

The ambiance and service were magnificent here! Food is overpriced for the quality.

For appetizers, we got the Appetizer Symphony ($38) and the Curry Carnival ($14). The two I liked from the Appetizer Symphony were the crispy delight and the chives cake. The shrimp in the eggscellent was soggy, and the Thai chicken was dry The curry carnival was solid.

For the entrees, we got the Majestic Ocean Medley ($59) and Sizzling Northern Adventure ($39). The Magestic Ocean Medley was the most disappointing part of the meal. The scallop was the most dry. The lobster and calamari also weren't tender. The soft shell crab was the best. There was a ton of noodles, but towards the end, the noodles were unbearably salty. The Khao soi was very tasty. The short ribs were tasty, although was slightly undercooked

For dessert, we got the Dessert Wonderland ($22). I enjoyed all the chocolate pieces.

Diner Review №156

Dined in on a Saturday with reservations for five and was seated when everyone arrived.

Ambiance is posh, velvety, bold colors, and good for big parties.

Food was a bit bland and needed more umami. We enjoyed the appetizers more than the main dishes. Presentation was beautiful.

Our waitress needed a little more training.

We ordered:

Curry carnival: roti got hard quickly, the sauces were good, the green sauce was the least favorite

Appetizer symphony: this tower is nice if you want to try a little bit of everything before ordering it alone. Eggcellence was different but the Tom yum flavor was not strong enough, chive cake sunrise was an odd flavor and mushy, crispy delight unleashed was our favorite bite, pork bliss was bland

Savory cones: very light flavors

Fried shrimp: this was on the house and was bland

Mussels: strong herby flavors, I could only eat a few

Creamy crab bite: good flavors

Soft shell crab papaya salad: FAVORITE DISH! Flavors were on point

Crispy fish: very bland, need to hit it with some salt and pepper before frying, the sauce it came with will burn your hole

Short ribs: meat was very tender but the sauce was not all there

Cotton candy tree: super cute presentation, the tree trunk is made with chocolate, very good

Diner Review №157

Our server Lynn was so friendly and attentive throughout our meal! She had a beautiful smile on her face all the time and her politeness and attentiveness made our ‘mama’s night out’ extra special. We all enjoyed having her as our server.

Diner Review №158

I really enjoyed my dinner here. The ambience was beautiful. I love the attention to details and the food was amazing. I would definitely recommend getting the crusty garlic chicken, it was cooked to PERFECTION

Not knowing what we wanted, we ordered tea for 2 initially. This gave us an opportunity to taste variety without getting too much food. The tea is sweet, be prepared. I wish it was not, I prefer no sugar in my tea.
After initial tea we ordered other food. Everything was delicious!

Diner Review №161

The food and presentation was all quite good. For appetizers, got the curry trio and chicken satay which were both delicious. For mains, for the drunken noodles, massamum curry, and jackfruit which were all extremely flavorful as well. For dessert, we got a complementary sorbet for celebrating an anniversary, the mango sticky rice , and the creme brulee. Each dessert was so creamy and beautifully presented. Live music starts around 5:30.

Came here to celebrate my mom’s birthday and honest we had such a great time! The red carpet outside was such a nice touch. Made my mom feel so special. The ambiance and decor was very nice. Then they brought out some birthday sign which was great detail. They were able to accommodate for vegetarian dishes, such as substituting meat in the dishes, for tofu or additional veggies. The flavors were delightful (except for the savory cone, we didn’t enjoy that as much). However, the main courses were presented elegantly and tasted delicious. Then we ordered desserts, which again were presented beautifully and tasted mostly cohesive. I would not recommend the mango basil sorbet, but would highly recommend the coconut ice cream. Lastly, I want to shout out how nice the bathrooms were! It’s the details for me 🔥

Diner Review №164

Food was Okay, I would probably go back for the wine and live music. The cocktails were terrible, that’s probably why the price was pretty cheap. The ambiance was really nice with the live music. We spend around $1,300

Been to Kindee and the food was great. Would be nice if this place prioritize the food quality and service than to be aesthetically pleasing and instagramable.

Here's a rewritten review with some minor edits for clarity and grammar:

"I've visited this Thai restaurant a couple of times, and my husband is a big fan of their Pad Thai. He's tried it at many Thai restaurants, and he enjoys the Pat thai here, which is sweet and has perfectly cooked noodles. I ordered the Stir-Fried Chicky Pleasure (I think it’s Pad See Ew), but personally, I found it a bit too light on flavor and overly reliant on fish sauce.

The atmosphere is nice, but the service was just average - it got the job done, but didn't feel like fine dining. The staff could be more attentive, joyful, and caring. The restaurant relies heavily on its fancy name and fusion food options, which may not be to everyone's taste.

On the plus side, parking is convenient with both valet and street parking options. Overall, it's an okay experience, but not outstanding."

Diner Review №169

We had a beautiful evening. We sat at the bar and Ryan the bartender was amazing. We had the appetizer symphony that was totally amazing and beautiful. Ryan described Al of the appetizers and then we ordered Sizzling Northern Adventure which was delivered in a beautiful stone pot and tasted amazing. The Salmon Royale was also amazing. If you like Thai food you will love these wonderful interpretations. We look forward to returning

Diner Review №170

Our waitress, Nan, was fabulous! She made the whole experience by explaining all of our dishes with such joy. She was a positive energy to be around! The drunken noodles were my favorite! The panang dumplings and shrimp crisp cakes were delicious as well as the pumpkin curry. Flavors were on point and cocktails were not only pretty but tasty! Highly recommend!

Diner Review №171

I’m going to call this Tex-Thai, very interesting.

Diner Review №172

Makiin Restaurant excels in ambience and cocktails, creating a vibrant atmosphere perfect for unwinding.
However, the dining experience falters somewhat when it comes to the food. While the drunken noodles could have been a hit, they were disappointingly too oily, detracting from the overall flavor of the dish.
More significantly, there was an issue with the royal pad thai. The menu promised prawns, but the dish was served with lobster instead. The server's failure to inform us of this substitution at the time of ordering was a letdown. It was only upon our query that we learned about the change, and although the dish was promptly removed when we expressed our disinterest in lobster. Additionally, after requesting our dishes to be made spicy, the server mentioned he could not alter the dish but would provide separate spicy ingredients, which he then forgot to bring to the table. This oversight in service compounded the dining experience's shortcomings.

Diner Review №173

's a fancy restaurant with elevated fusion Thai food.
Went here for a friend's birthday dinner and made prior reservation. They had decorated our table ready very well. It was Thai new years time and they had dance performance and live music. The ambience is beautiful!
They have an elaborate drinks menu - I tried their shots and it was fun!
Coming to food - from the appetizers, I would definitely recommend chives pancakes and curry carnival.
I also like their Khao soy, Drunken noodles and fried rice.
The desserts are sumptuous and worth trying. The coconut ice cream was my favorite.
The food quantity is a lot and the food is good.
I would love to go back and try a few more items on their menu

Great food... awesome service.
We had the opportunity to be served by one of the bartenders since they were short on staff. We arrived after lunch and way before dinner.
Nevertheless, you wouldn't be able to tell the gentleman who served us was the actual bartender. He was extremely knowledgeable of the menu, flavors of the dishes and recommendations since it was our 1st time at a Thai restaurant.
Needles to say that I will be returning with hopes we are served by him again... I must've over tipped, but I'll do it again.
Best experience we had at a local restaurant, and the food was incredibly good.

This place was absolutely amazing. Babe planned date night and it couldn’t have been better. Food 10/10. Drinks, aesthetic. Chris was amazing. Received complimentary dessert. Definitely recommend!

We had an amazing experience at Makiin restaurant! The service was excellent - they explained the flavors in our appetizers, and our entrées were top-notch.
I loved the green papaya salad with blue crab and the chicken pad Thai noodles. The Sauvignon Blanc was perfect with our meal.
The sticky rice with mango dessert was out of this world! A must-try for all foodies! 🍽️🥂🍲🍷🍨 #TahiRestaurant #FoodieParadise #DeliciousDelights #FiveStarExperience"

One of my favorite spots in Houston - the food, staff and ambiance is 10/10.

Had my Friend’s birthday dinner here in March and from the time I spoke to Ami to the time we sat down , she was just amazing. The servers were the best I have ever experienced. I will be back. Your customers service is impeccable. Thank you Guys.

This place is ok. It seems to lean heavily on vibe and presentation rather than food. We got a variety of things but they were either cold or hard to eat because of poor meat quality. Unfortunate experience for us since we were very excited to try this new place.

- Curry Carnival
- Bangkok Brussels Sprouts
- Royal Pad Thai Delight
- Sizzling Northern Adventure
- Crispy Garlic Chicken

Makiin Thai offers many different delicious choices through their happy hour and regular menu items.

We started with the shrimp crisp cakes and papaya salad from the happy hour menu, both of which were delicious and a great start to the meal. I have to warn to be careful about choosing the spiciness of the papaya salad. Mild was more than enough for our hot cheetos tolerating taste buds. Moving on to the main course, the Pad Kee Mao and Tom Yum Goong Bisque were uniquely crafted, and the presentation was stunning. One of the highlights of the meal was the coconut ice cream dessert, which was a must-try. There is a little yummy surprise below the ice cream. The happy hour menu also offers half off on beer and wine, making it a great deal. For drinks, I tried the Karn Blue gem, which was served in a unique diamond-shaped glass with lemongrass syrup on the side, allowing me to control the sweetness. The drink was a perfect balance between the alcohol and everything in between.

Apart from the excellent food and drinks, the service at Makiin Thai was top-notch. The staff were attentive and friendly, making the dining experience even more enjoyable.

Overall, I highly recommend Makiin Thai for its delicious food, great drinks, and fantastic service.

Great Atmosphere, food presentation is amazing, service was good not great.

Diner Review №184

I am sorry but this food is terrible and overpriced. We tried four different dishes today. None of them were impressive at all.

I will never go back to this place. And the waiting service was terrible. $120 including tip for lunch. What a complete waste of money.

Also, they did not have muck duck (made from tofu). I've had this before at another Thai restaurant and it was amazingly good. No such options here.

I so wanted this place to be good. Save your money and avoid this restaurant!!! 👎

Delightful spectacles with every serving that taste every bit as wonderful as they appear. We are privileged dining out in today’s Houston without doubt. To be indulged visually as well as gastronomically is truly next level. We will be back!

Great dining experience. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Decent vegan options as well.

We went here for my Birthday and MaKiin made it such a special experience with a happy birthday sign and dessert. The entire meal was great with special touches like a complimentary chef bite to start the meal, hot towels provided to wipe your hands, and really great service. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu. They were also accommodating for dietary restrictions (vegetarian). They had options on the menu and were willing to modify other items accordingly. Wonderful experience and although a bit expensive it felt like good value with the attention to detail, special touches, and portions!

The food was amazingly delicious and the service was fantastic! I have been here twice and had Chris as our server both times and he is amazing. Very sweet, courteous and gave awesome recommendations for veg options. Loved everything overall and ambience is great! Presentations of the dishes is very well done too.
Definitely coming back again:)

Panda express quality . Shrimp was half cooked and smelled so bad all food smelled like eggs nothing fresh all vegetables we preheated probably cooked a week ago before served and whenever we complained they made the biggest scenes by getting all managers supervisors never seen a restaurant handling a complain this aggressive way
Yes you compromised after two hours of your staff trying to get any dollar out of us so cheap
All tables starring, your very unprofessional manager glued to our table like we are running away watching one of the guests wallets while getting the bill money fir you
As i said the poorest way to handle a situation by a restaurant been to most of fine dining spots in the nation never seen any place dealing with a complain so aggressively and rude like that
Its not what you have not charged us if, it took you an hour of giving us hell for you to do that
Never again

We went to Makiin for a dinner party.

1. The waitress was extremely clumsy and she dropped a whole drink on the table ruining my husbands phone with his credit cards and his glasses. We didnt want to create a fuss about it because we were invited guests. But much to our surprise the management didnt even come to ask anything about the damage they had caused. Now we have a ruined credit cards, phone and glasses.

2. My husband had ordered a vegan dish but had insisted to add eggs to it.We confirmed the order with the waiter and he said he had noted down. But when the order came it had no eggs and they kept saying its blended, as if we are blind and dont know how does blended eggs look like.

Makiin ruined our evening!
