Casual neighborhood haunt offering an extensive menu of Thai food specialties.
We accept takeout and delivery. Order online via Beyond Menu only. Phone call orders are also preferred.
Dine in with 3 of my friends. Best Tom Yum Goong I've had outside of Thailand. I was surprised to see on menu that they had Tom Yum only with chicken and tofu. I would expect shrimp to be standard. I asked and they happily substituted shrimp. It was excellent. Good portion size, with many shrimp and mushrooms. Flavorful. It was a meal for me. Could've shared with one other person if I had ordered an additional entree.
Little bit of language barrier, but adds to the authenticity :)
Friendly service.
"Spicy" came with a bit of a warning from waiter. But I wouldn't say it was very spicy for Thailand standards. I think it was the perfect amount of spice for Tom Yum, but I think I would've been disappointed if I had asked for less spicy option. So, I would say that if you frequently eat spicy food, spicy will not be too spicy. At least with the Tom Tum :)
This place is my go-to Thai food spot after moving to the area. I've tried so many different ones and I think Tub Tim Thai makes the best food around. They are also always very friendly. I am gluten sensitive and they are always willing to accommodate.
I have seen some complaints about the food taking a long time to be made however I have never had this issue but at the same time I would rather wait for fresh food knowing it's being carefully crafted than have reheated food.
First time at this Thai restaurant in Skokie, it’s nice because there is free 2 hour street parking along Oakton. I thought there was a great selection of authentic Thai dishes on the menu plus some dishes I had never seen before. Abby our server was really pleasant and prompt.
The entrees took a bit long to come out but I felt everything was made fresh to order and it all came out steaming hot. Appetizers of summer rolls and crab Rangoon were excellent. I also recommend trying the Thai BBQ Charbroiled chicken which came with sticky rice, the chicken was so tender and such a great taste! I will definitely come back to try more dishes. This is a little gem in Skokie
I had a great experience here! The service was fast and the food was stellar! I loved the appetizers we got as well, and I can’t wait to try more of the food when I go back.
First time dining here and it was alright. My husband and i walked in there and didn’t realize you seat yourself so we just stood there for a while until we realized it ourself. We were there with one other party but service was slow. My husband and I ordered spring rolls but what came out definitely didn’t look like your traditional spring rolls. It tasted like a mouthful of bean sprout (3 ingredients in there- egg, cucumber, and bean sprout) I told the waitress I think we meant egg rolls and she just shrugged it off and left. Crab Rangoon’s were okay, I couldn’t taste any crab.. they tasted more like cream cheese Rangoon’s. I ordered the vegetable pad kee mow and my husband ordered the vegetable fried rice. The entrees were both good which is why I’m giving this 3 stars instead of 1. I’d come here again but probably for take out instead of dine in.
Worst Thai food I’ve ever had. Zero flavor, terrible consistency. How do you butcher Thai Cuisine so bad?

Portion was tiny for an entre, the smallest I've ever seen.

The place was empty and it took forever to get our food. After the satay I asked for the rest to go since we had somewhere we needed to be. The satay was average and the sauce was chunky with peanuts. It was too chunky and didn't stick to the chicken. It was bland and very disappointing.
Absolutely love this local spot. Reasonable prices and incredibly good food. I recommend the pad kee mao with level 1 spice. Chicken potstickers are also great.
Quick delivery , cordial phone person. Tasty food!
This place is the most authentic Thai food I’ve had in Chicago. Make sure to ask for a spice tray with your meal, it has such great flavors!
We live around the corner. The food here is top notch! The Pad Kee Mao especially is my go to order. It is packed with flavor and just the right amount of spice. I could eat this every day! Try it!
Family owned and run. Our server was son of the owners. Mother who was cooking came out to see if everything was okay and to say hello. Things like that coupled with superb food Just make this restaurant a joy to go to.
Be prepared to wait well over an hour for your food. This was dine in, can't imagine pickup. Food was good otherwise. Waitress could have been nicer and helpful but was not.
Good food
Tub Tim Thai is the place to be!! The servers are so nice, the food is so good and they have such an amazing atmosphere. It's a very chill place which amazing food and the servers and cooks are genuine and care about you as a customer. I love it here ◡̈ if youre looking for amazing thai food, this is the best place to be ♡
Food was decent, but false advertising on menu for the clay pot fried rice with crab. Said its serves two but was definitely a portion size for one. Buyer beware.
While this is sort of a "nothing special" kind of place, they don't make any serious mistakes either. They were not just willing to adjust heat levels for each dish, but rather they expected to and asked about preferences during the order process. We were a somewhat large group, six, and all points in the spice spectrum were represented and catered to. We had a vegetarian at the table as well as some sensitive to food allergies and they were completely accommodating.
As long as you are looking for "American Thai", you won't be surprised but you won't be disappointed either.
Good food
A bit pricier compared to other Thai places in the area but a much better quality and taste.
Delicious fresh Thai food made with love.
Support this small business
My long-time friend wanted to take me out to lunch. She had Tub Tim Thai in mind for our lunch date. She highly recommended this restaurant in downtown Skokie. Now I have to be honest. I have eaten at several different Thai restaurants and never thought the food was all that great. So my expectations were not that high when we arrived at Tum Tim Thai.
The inside of the restaurant is a pleasant place not too highly decorated, but quiet since there were about five or six tables with other diners.
My friend ordered an appetizer, Meant Kim, which consisted of fresh Chapoo leaves topped with roasted coconut, sun-dried shrimp, bean sprouts, ground peanuts, diced ginger, shallots, lime and peanuts along with a side of hot Thai sauce and the regular sauce.
When I saw that it had coconuts, I was worried. I really do not like coconut. However once I applied the regular sauce I absolutely loved the flavors. Excellent appetizer.
Then my friend ordered what she wanted and I am sorry, but I can not remember what she ordered but I guess it was a dish she usually orders. I ordered the Stir-Fried Vegetables which included red rice, mushrooms, asparagus, pea pods, carrots, onions and green beans. I added sliced pork and it came with a side of the regular sauce and a wonderful peanut sauce. I absolutely loved this dish. I thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful flavors.
I would say that Tum Tim Thai is a wonderful place to come and enjoy a wonderful meal, plus the waitress/hostess Abby was wonderful to have work with us and serve us. Her mother Chantra is the cook.
Just the best Thai food I have ever had. I highly recommend Tum Tim Thai. This restaurant is located in downtown Skokie at 4927 Oaken Street.
This is the best Thai food around. I've been coming here for years and it's always excellent.
I absolutely love this Restaurant. Everything is so fresh. Meong Kum is my favorite appetizer & they are the only Thai restaurant that offers this. I tell everyone about this Restaurant.
Amazing! Best Thai food EVER.
Noodles are perfectly chewy sauces are seasoned to perfection. As my friend said "Best Thai food I have had outside of Thailand"
This is a really great place for very good Thai dishes. The pad se eww it's great and there's some really good curry dishes to be found here as well
Came here for a chill double date night with some friends. It's what you would expect: small Thai restaurant, no frills. Good food, decent prices.
Great food with wonderful service. I love their pad see ew.
Delicious pad ke mao and Tom yum soup on my last take out order last week.
I had the panang curry with vegetables. It was amazing and super filling. Great service too.

I wanted so much to enjoy the food. I was very disappointed. It took an hour for our meal. There was only one server perhaps there was only one cook. The food was bland and flavorless. Nothing was seasoned with salt/pepper. Thai food was very Americanized and i was missing the authentic fresh herbs that Thai food is cooked with.
The pad thai with chicken medum spicy, the crab rangoon & spring rolls oh my God it was so good and the service was on point. Mind you I live in Chicago.
I can’t believe I just found out about this place! So good and fresh, definitely will be back soon
Great food, great prices, super friendly staff
Great food. Best pad Thai I've had.
Curry was good also.
Very cute little place to go to for a nice meal. Had a taste of the pad thai but it wasn't like other pad thai I've had. This one was a bit stickier and more nutty than the rest.
The pad Thai is excellent. I believe the krab meat with egg noodle is fake. Chicken satay is quite nice.
Their three-flavored sauce is out of this world!
We usually get a Pad Thai, It is aways great and enough for 2
Been going here since it first opened. My favorite place for basil pork.Thai hot+ is the best.
good food nice service
Never ordering from Tub Tim Thai Restaurant Skokie again. At first, I was really upset about how small their portions have gotten, but after tasting the food I was OK with that. The chicken was dry, the pork was mostly sauce, and the crab fried rice had almost no trace of crab, other than a bad fishy smell. The $3 sticky rice was the size of an ice cream scoop. We got half as much food as the last time we ordered, and there are leftovers (nobody liked it). I have honestly had better Thai food at a Chinese restaurant.
the food is okay the plates are small . the place looks clean .The prices are affordable.
This place was chosen because of its proximity to where we were going for a show, and the service was awful. We were there for over an hour waiting for the food; people who came in after us got their food, the woman serving answered someone on the phone and said the caller would have to wait as they were busy, and the bus boy was sitting around on his iPad. It was generally a bad experience. Will not be going back. Food was okay.
Soooooooo delicious!!!
Easily some of the best Thai food I have had in the states. I'd recommend a dish but it's all amazing
Tasty food, especially the Tom Kha, and friendly service. Really enjoyed every thing. My new goto for Thai.
Best Thai food ever. The Tiger Cry is really worth a visit. . Casual but great service.
I could eat here every night.
The food was excellent, but we used to come here for brunch on Sundays and they are now closed Sundays, so we have have not been back since then. It's a shame.
Salmon curry is a must! I had it with the green curry and will try the red curry next. The roti dessert is amazing! Great job guys!
Delicious and bountiful options available on the menu for vegatarian & vegans. The service was excellent; attentive, warm & friendly. It was my 2nd visit, and it did not disappoint.
My friend bobster lives there
Sweet little spot in downtown Skokie. Great for take out!
We were there for over an HOUR, and did not get the food. We walked out. Not the way to impress a first time customer.
The lunch special with noodles and potstickers is a favorite
Great meal with good friens. The salmon with stir fried veggies was done perfectedly, the meat was tender and not dried out, not fishy. Pad See Ewe with beef was very tasty, no problem substituting rice noodles. Panang Curry was very good, flavorful but not too spicy.
This is our 4th time dining at this establishment. We remain pleased with the service, good choices and prices. Look forward to our next visit.
Nice service from owner lady but not impressed with food store bought eggrolls who does that.?? Mouse dropping in ladies restroom my friend told me ..we ended up throwing our left overs away...sorry if this offend anyone
The service was terrible, my pregnant wife and I sat at our table for an hour and a half and never recieved our food (mind you we were only 2 of 7 people there). When we got in there was a group of 3 that had already ordered, it took the waitress 23 minutes to take our order (at this time another group of women came in) and another 11 minutes just to get water. As we waited for our appetizers we noticed that the table that came in after us received their appetizers before us. We tried to get the waitress attention but she never came by to check on us once. After an hour and a half of waiting and only talking to the waitress once we decided to leave.
This restaurant is amazing! You're must go!
Delicious food, as well as large portions for the price.
Wonderful food and great service. I will visit again soon .
Very nice atmosphere and Great food and service
Love the food, they have a lunch special and it gets busy around 1.
Amazing
Tried this place twice and they are very good and consistent. I definitely recommend this place to everyone who is interested in Thai food.
Food is always amazing, fast and friendly staff
Great service, good Thai food!
Carry out order, super friendly and great food!!! Thanks
I love this place. They have several traditional Thai dishes on the menu along with all the Americanized pad thai.
The thai iced coffee was excellant.
The lady who waited on us had such a passion for the food.
Meang Kum is a must try. The shrimp cacoons are phenomenal.
I can't wait to have dessert.
I'd give one star if I could, forgot some of my order... Told me it would be 10 minutes to replace but they never showed up then screened my calls. DO NOT ORDER! AWFUL RUDE SERVICE! NOT WORTH IT!!!
Noodles were gross and soggy, food was 20 minutes late. They should pay people to eat here.
Great pad thai!
My new favorite Thai place. Good portions and authentic Thai flavors.
Great restaurant that's hidden in plain sight! Delicious food, and very friendly staff! And very reasonably priced!
First time at Tub Tim and was very much impressed with menu food and service. The menu is large including specials. Went with some vegi curry puffs and summer rolls that were fresh and tasty. Entrees were generous and well worth visit. Had no room for the dessert menu.
This has always been one of the best restaurant around the whole area.I like how they handle customers
Very mild, but tasty.
The food was great but some of the appetizers didn't seem so fresh. Good quiet place in a town that doesn't have that much.
Great food. Very helpful manager

This place rocks! Service is always outstanding and prices are good too. Suggest everyone to go.
The food is always so good tasting and their lunch specials are amazing. Come with a big appetite because they have huge servings
My wife and I, along with a couple of friends who are strict vegans, went in on a Sunday for brunch. The environment was very inviting. Our waitress, Sarah, was very engaging and very knowledgeable about the menu. She answered all of our questions and made some great suggestions. I had the Red Curry and she had the Pad Prik Khing. The food was great and very nicely flavored. This was our first visit. Needless to say, we will be going back. Thanks, Sarah.
I ordered Calamari. It was crispy and delicious. The side of dipping sauce completed the appetizer perfectly. Will definitely try more things off the menu.
Our family Thai place in Skokie
Really good food. Very nice service too.
Nice clean friendly, prompt
Very bland. Served garlic bread with the chicken satay (?)
Finding Khao Soi on the menu was a huge surprise for me and I knew I must try it. It's a Northern Thailand specialty that is quite uncommon in Thai restaurants in the US. I ramped up the spice level to 4, which added plenty of kicks. Overall, I was very pleased with the consistency and taste of the yellow curry along with soft and crispy noodles, although I do wished they used egg noodles instead of ramen noodles. There are also plenty of authentic dishes on the menu that I would love to try next time.
Very relaxing atmosphere. The food tastes so fresh and delicious. And BYOB!
Our waitress was Sarah who was extremely helpful and attentive! She made sure that what I was ordering was vegan and explained that almost everything in the menu could be veganized. My mom ordered a curry that ended up being very spicy (they use fresh peppers so she explained it can be hard to judge the spice) and Sarah brought her a drink on the house to cool down. Overall amazing service and delicious food, and I hope to be back again!
Great ambiance , good service.
Fast food preparation. Good tasting food. The portions are on the small side and the prices are higher than other Thai places in the area.
Simply one of the best chicken red curry in the area.. fresh, delicious. You have a choice of healthy rice or jasmine.
The food is delicious, and the service is exceptional!
I wrote a review on Facebook. This is what I wrote and I still stand by this:
It's not the same as it used to be. After my sister told me the owners are different I became skeptical... And I was right. We were seated and had placed our orders before two other tables and they both got their food before us. Pad Thai was awful. It was like gray glop. I'm sad to see a family-owned restaurant change like this. It used to be amazing.
Great place for people with gluten and dairy sensitivities. They have a lot of options, are super friendly and patient! Highly recommend this place!
So good. Is a great place for Thai. OMG eeeee so so SO good. Great tea too
So good! Great help with gluten issues.
Excellent meal and service. Conversation friendly.
Holy Phayao, this place is the tops. Specifically, Sarah is arguably the best waitperson in existence. A few friends and I came on a recommendation and were ecstatic to try great dishes alongside the delightful and kind waitstaff. Sarah was generous enough to offer tips and pronunciation guides to friends traveling to Thailand in our party. To top that...She asked about food allergies with each dish, and she even remembered some of us and our allergies from a previous visit. Can't recommend this place enough, really love it for larger (6-10) groups.
Wonderful! The crab fried rice was really unique and amazing and piled high with real crab meat. Amazing gem of downtown Skokie!
Excellent food!
Excellent food!! Best pad Thai I hv ever had. Very friendly staff. And considerate for people with specific dietary need like vegan and vegetarian. Well deserved for all the awards they have won: Michelin guide and chicago tribune. M glad we found this Thai place.
Such great customer service and extremely delicious food! The food items I've tried and definitely recommend: crab fried rice, pineapple seafood fried rice, chicken pad Thai and Thai iced tea!
Before trying tub Tim Thai my favorite Thai restaurant was thara thai. But I can say that this restaurant beats thara thai in Champaign IL. I have so far tried their pad Thai and red curry and these items are easily the best of a dozen or so Thai places that I have tried. I will be back for more. In case you guys don't know Tub Tim Thai was featured on Michelin guide 3 years in a row. Now, that is something. And I do think that award is not for nothing.
Tiny portions mediocre at best flavor.
Probably my favorite Thai restaurant in the Chicago area. Their pad thai and see ewe dishes are fantastic. I try to visit here whenever possible.
Awesome food
Tub Tim Thai's pad thai is a little juicer, tangier and sweeter than other thai restaurants. Its the best. The customer service is always impeccable. Recommended.
First chicken satay appetizer was undercooked, they remade. Spring rolls had a thick wrapping. Then food came out and a stench came with. The pad Thai smelled like the inside of a portable potty and was very wet. When we informed them to take it, the waitress asked if we still wanted to pay for it although we were sending it back. Asked for knives and waitress directed me where to get up and find them. The pad see ew tasted like something was sour in it. Although, the fried curry and crab Rangoon appetizers and the tiger eye, orange curry, and curry fried rice were good.
Delicious
Great to see Thai dishes on the menu that is not usually served anywhere else.
The food here is tasty and the prices are fair. Their "healthy rice" (a great alternative to white rice that is more like brown rice) is interesting and adds an interesting flavor. Some of the dishes are a bit unimaginative, but if you like Rama Chicken, I would order it with the healthy rice as their peanut sauce is really interesting and delicious.
Love food
Best place in town
Friendly service, authentic atmosphere without being campy, fresh delicous food all at reasonable price.
Awesome good. Friendly atmosphere
Great food, portion size is good but not generous on some items like appetizers. Fast service, good for lunch
Delicious flavors with an authenticity and elegance of the Kingdom of Thailand. Comfortable and spacious dining area that can accommodate a large party. Prices are very competitive and the portions will leave you with room for your experience to continue at home. If ever in the Skokie area be sure to check out this gem!
Excellent service and the food was very good!
Love this little Thai place in Skokie! The staff are very nice and you can get a nice discount if you post a picture to their Facebook page!
My favorite carry-out thai restaurant.
I've gone on several occasions for lunch and ordered the Pad Prik. The chicken pod stickers were very good, the ginger salad has the best ginger dressing I've ever had and the Pad Prik is straight up comfort food. I don't know why the other reviewers here have such bad reviews but I've been here several times and always had good service and better food. Delicious!
They make the best pad thai!!
My wife and I just had lunch here. Personally I think the food was good but the girl who served us was rude and I felt very unwelcomed. Even if you have to fake it, At lease have a smile on your face and be courteous if you're trying to get return business
