We came on a Monday night for dinner. The restaurant was half full and we were seated right away. They seem to have a large amount of take out orders, which is great for them. We ordered, and food came out in about 12-15 min. The veggie sushi was fine but not amazing. My partners noodle dish was tasty. The bill was very reasonable.

According to Yelp, a 2-star means 'Could've been better,' so that's what I'm rating at Google, too. I think the restaurant's trying to offer a cozy, home-like ambience, which is nice, but the food also tries to follow this. The food (at least the dish I ordered) was okay, but it was something I could easily make at home and enjoy with more flavor and portions.

My boyfriend and I have been coming to Dozika since the last two years, and the food has consistently been great! We love the people here and the warm and fuzzy atmosphere. Highly recommend!

A pan Asian restaurant recently moved to this new location. Awesome lunch offers with a combo of Japanese and Thai items. Pad see ew was good. My only wish was the takeout order use less plastic disposables. There were 4 separate containers for one takeout.

Original price is already reasonable. If you are northwestern staff or students you get 10% off. Really friendly owner who is eager to serve the Evanston community.

It is now in the space, that was once Cozy Noodles, -it has retained some of the atmosphere, and the Dozika food-is still delicious!

Loved the old location but we took out food from the new location and my fiancee got food poisoning or the Noro virus from the food. Very disappointed

I've been getting sushi and curry takeaway from here for a couple of years. I'm always satisfied! I like that I get a free appetizer with my takeaway if I spend enough money. The workers are also always friendly, which I appreciate.

My only suggestion - some sushi doesn't have a description when you order online, so I'm a little hesitant to order them.

UPDATE: They updated their online ordering menu to include descriptions of all their sushi rolls! Hooray! :)

Very disappointing. Overly salted tonkotsu ramen, literally one spoonful of the chasu pork in the whole bowl, my son's tempura was bland with no flavor. The ramen bowl had a chip on the rim, YOU CANNOT SERVE FOOD IN BROKEN AND OR CHIPPED GLASS...THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS..NEVER COMING BACK TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT AGAIN...

This is a small locally owned Japanese restaurant. The food is always great and well-prepared. I have tried many things on the menu and it is always delicious. The bubble tea is also especially good. The employees are always very courteous and care about maintaining a positive atmosphere. The sushi and sashimi dishes are also very reasonably priced and high quality. Highly recommend this place!

A wonderful find in Evanston for pan-Asian food. I had the very affordable priced Bento box for lunch, which came with Miso soup, an appetizer of my choice (Tempura veggies) and my entree choice of Pad Thai. It was fresh and delicious. Our spacious table against the front window was a very pleasant and comfortable perch. A great place that I'll be trying more of.

The sushi is incredible and the sashimi is smoother than butter! So great every time! Not to mention the best miso soup with so much tofu, seaweed and green onion! Lunch specials are the best! Can’t recommend this place more.

I have ordered takeout from Dozika for over a year now ~quite~ frequently and highly recommend using their online platform for delivery. Our order is always the “favorite combo” and we order a side with it. When you use their online platform with *this* combination you also receive a free item which we use to get another appetizer; for two we EACH get two reg. maki, and we each get to pick a side (one free from the limited free item opt on the online platform) for delivery under $40. The food quality, and customer/delivery service serve us SO well for this price. Look forward to ordering from Dozika time and time again!

Service was good. Noodles were delicious. Tempura .was overcooked.

The food was very good. Service was fair, given they were preparing for takeout, which was plenty. Eventually the waitstaff came around and offer us a free sample of their plum wine.

I am very much pleasantly surprised by this place. We live 10 minutes down the street and were in the mood for something new yet close by as it was pouring rain outside. I read a few reviews, and by the judgment of the pictures, we decided to try it. There were quite a few options, but we chose to stick to apps and sushi. We had wings and calamari, both of which were very good, the wings super crispy with a nice kick. The calamari was delicious, I really liked the breading they used for it and at a reasonable price. Highly recommend both. Then we moved on to the tom kha, I am very picky with Tom kha as I can make it at home to my liking, and almost everywhere I go, it is beyond sweet and inedible. Let me tell you, compete opposite! I love how light the both is and not overly creamy from the coconut milk, just the right amount. You can still taste notes a sour/acidity from the scrumptious spices in the soup 10/10. This needs to come in a bucket.
Lastly, we had a Philly roll, Red Hana roll, eel Maki, and shrimp tempura Maki, all of which were very very good. 🍣
I really want to come back here to try a few dishes I was eyeballing but just couldn't eat anymore food.
P.S. the hot sake is about 8 shots and is totally worth the price.

Came here for the first time with friends for the lunch special. The host was very polite, friendly and accommodating. Tried the shrimp bento box. Omgg the miso soup was delicious, the tempura (especially the shrimp) was so good and crispy, and the sushi was delicious! Will definitely come here again when I'm in Evanston! The prices for the food items and portion sizes are reasonable!

Every single dish I've tried here is amazing. Their sushi is sublime and their rice/noodle dishes are very tasty. One of my favorite dishes to order on a weekly basis is their bun buns filled with pulled pork. I order more to eat for lunch the next day at work. My only wish is they had more options for the buns but this is no complaint whatsoever. Love coming here every single time

Appetizers are tasty but portion sizes are small for groups. Must try spicy Chicken wings.

Really disappointed since we love the food here. My husband and I tried eating in this time. We were one of two tables that day so not busy. The server was rude to us but more attentive to the other table. I am all about supporting local businesses but this experience makes me not want to return.

I've been eating here for years and tonight, when we got our food delivered, it was so fresh that it was like it teleported from their kitchen. I then asked myself why I've never reviewed this place.

Before Covid, we dined in a fair amount and servers are always super nice. Now that we order out a lot, I order online and their free appetizer with orders over... it's $20 or $25, can't remember, is awesome. Highly recommend. Love their food. I've never had a complaint and my kiddo loves it too!

Oh yeah, super kid friendly when you dine in. My kiddo asks about once a week to get Dozika. Sounds good to me!

My wife and I enjoyed a low-price and delicious dinner at Dozika. She had bibmbap, while I had teriyaki chicken with tempura vegetables. The servings were generous. The server was fast and friendly.

Very friendly service and very yummy sushi

Dozika is a cozy, little restaurant that fits in well with its surroundings.
Entering the front door is somewhat of a tight squeeze due the two front doors opening in opposite directions and a two foot space between them, in which you have to stand before entering or exiting.
Once inside this establishment the host makes you feel welcome. I've only ordered california rolls for pick up and must say that as far as California rolls are concerned, these are the best yet. They are always freshly made and you are able to taste the individual flavors without one overwhelming the other. The ginger is freshly cut and adds to the flavor.
Picking up my order was never a hassel or wait time. My order was always ready when I arrived to pick it up.
I have not tried other items on the menu as yet but if the California rolls are any indication, I must say that we are off to a great start. Quite possibly one of the best places for California rolls in the Chicagoland area.

My daughter and I were in town visiting Northwestern University, and we stopped in here on a whim. Turns out to have been one of the best meals of our whole trip. Highly recommended!

We had shrimp shumai, dragon roll maki , ramen and ikezo jelly sake. All the food were outstanding.

I am an Asian cuisine fanatic and really picky. This place is outstanding! They have stepped up their game big time in the last 5 years or so. Certainly my favorite place in Evanston and one of my favorites in Chicagoland. The food is always prompt, fresh and beautiful. The staff is polite, and efficient. Highly recommend their maki!

I loved the food. Some other reviewers complained about the service…it’s different culture, the server is not in your face the entire visit which I personally love! The food came out quickly everything was fresh and May is a sweetheart. Get the Salmon Bento box it’s so filling and provides many options for a decent price.

Lunch was good will go back again

We ordered sushi for our second night of our honeymoon and my wife is gluten intolerant and ordered gluten free sushi. When we got our order two of the three boxes had gluten free and one did not! She called to ask and instead of apologizing or trying to make it right the lady who answered the phone simply said I guarantee it did not say gluten free on the instructions. Clearly it did as two of the three boxes were marked as such. This could cause severe illness to my wife. We will not be ordering from here again and recommend others with allergies and intolerances do not as well.

If you’re gluten free, please avoid this restaurant. I have very specifically requested gluten free multiple times. Each time they mess it up. Tonight the staff argues with me that it wasn’t supposed to be gluten free, when my order and even the receipt very clearly said gluten free.
