Gumrai Thai has been serving the Arlington Heights and surrounding communities for over 15 years, offering a vibrant and authentic dining experience.
I should have read other reviews before trying out this place. What they serve IS NOT THAI FOOD! Pad kee mao is not supposed to be sweet like pad thai. What i got was very greasy, slimy mushy noodles in overly sweet red sauce. Noodles were way overcooked so were all cut into small pieces and had no texture. Beef pieces were tough like beef jerky. The flavor of the sauce was very weird, not thai not chinese, a very weird sweet suace that i never tasted before. Khao soy, flavor wise, it was not bad. But again the noodles were overdone. You can very easily tell the cooks do not know how to cook thai food or even just cooking noodles or veggies properly. they were not trained properly. If i was the owner of this restaurant and if i saw similar reviews where people complain about the quality of the food, i would do something about it. Another thing i wanted to mention was they had latin music playing from inside the kitchen so loud. It was not a pleasant dining experience, food was bad.
I heard many great things of this restaurant and I was finally in the area to try it. The young man at the door was very nice, greeted me and brought me to my table. I ordered the sampler platter which had 3 Crab Ragon (which were pretty good, the homemade sauce was different then the normal sweet & sour sauce), 3 Fried Pot Stickers (which were very tasty with the sweet soy sauce), and 3 Egg Rolls (which were very disappointing. It had so much cabbage in it and no taste of anything else. )
I also ordered the Khao Soi with Fried Tofu and specified that i want Crispy Tofu. It was fried for sure but it was like they pre fried it and then put it in the curry. It wasn't Crispy at all. The noodles were luke warm not hot in temperature. I've had Khao Soi before and it's usually more flavorful then this. You usually taste the spiciness from the curry, they usually put pickled cabbage in it for the tartness with the lime. But unfortunately they didn't have pickled cabbage. They had Shallots, cilantro, ginger and lime. Overall it was ok. If you ask if I would be back. Unfortunately, no I will not be returning to this restaurant.
Also, the ambiance was very clean. But in the women's restaurant it smelled like someone was smoking inside or near there. It smelled really bad.
The One Star is for the only young man with glasses serving who tried hard to make everyone happy. I understand working in a restaurant where your not familiar with the food can be hard. I feel the young boy needs a bit more training on Thai food.
The worst thai food we have ever had and worst dining experience in general. I strongly advise to stay away from this place if you don’t want get sick or simply disappointed.
We entered the place on Saturday’s afternoon and was completely empty. We were one and only clients but the servers still didn't pay attention to us. The waitress gave us a face and didn’t even asked how we liked the food. But she had no problem with asking for a tip.
Silverware was dirty and gross.
But still - food was the worse, absolutely disgusting. Both tofu and shrimp dishes were simply soaked in the oil or some of fatty sauce and overstuffed with soy sauce. Egg in pad thai was smelly.
We are still amazed how servers can be that rude and careless.
I wouldn’t recommend this place to my enemy.
Not really sure if inedible pad thai is worth almost $18.
I regret that I didn’t speak to the manager.
I was disappointed with my recent visit to Gumrai Thai. It is our favorite Thai restaurant and we have visited many times, usually it’s a 5 star experience. We brought out of town guests and had a party of 10. Our food took an hour to be served. Our waiter did not check on us, and we had to waive him down to refill our waters.
I understand he does not control how fast the food comes out, but it would have been nice to get some updates and at least refill our waters or ask if anyone needed anything. He also told us at the end of the night as we were paying our bill that they are short staffed. Again, this is understandable but it would’ve been more helpful to tell us at the beginning so we could adjust our expectations. The restaurant appeared pretty empty but I’m guessing the kitchen was busy with take out orders. I am a patient person but a 1 hour wait with no explanation or apology is unacceptable to me. The food was good but I hope they can improve their service.
Thai..!!! You looking for Thai Food? Well seems you have been missing a lot if you haven’t been here..! 🤩
We ordered different types of food for sure to try..! From the Appetizer “Crab 🦀 Rangoon” to the Yummiest Soup you for sure missing out..! Called Yum Thai Soup.
Everything we ordered was exceptionally very way up to the mark..! This family owned restaurant is one of the best Thai Restaurants I have been.
The food portion is very very very generous portions. The flavour is up to the mark on every bite.
We will be for sure back to have next time to have this flavour filled foods again. ❤️

First time here.
Our server was very nice. Very welcoming.
We went early for dinner so at that time they were not busy. But people started coming in and the place started getting busy.
Service was fast.
Ambiance is nice and very quite place with cute decor.
We order tom yum soup with tofu. It was yummy. Loved the taste. Edamame were good. Pad Kee Mao spicy were the best. Were not that spicy as much as i expected but they were good. Green curry was good and spicy.
Will definitely come back.
Restrooms- very clean.
I love the food! Bursts with flavor and it is tasty. Been to a couple of Thai food places and I liked this the best so far! The Crab Ragoon is really really good!
Pictures show Crab Rangoon, Penang curry, Yellow Curry and Vegetable rice noodle soup!
I preferred rice and curry to be separated! Next time! Well a Great place for family too! They’ve got a bar which I’ve never tried.
Dined in late lunch. Server was very friendly, polite, and accommodating. Atmosphere was quiet with pleasant low piano music and comfortable chairs, clean looking.
We started with the appetizer sampler. Three each of egg rolls, crab Rangoon, and steamed dumplings. All delicious. The egg rolls were some of the best I've ever had, as the wrapper was thin and crispy.
I had the pan fried wide noodles with peanut sauce and carrots and broccoli. I added chicken. The presentation was beautiful, the chicken tender and plentiful, and the peanut sauce delicious. However, there were only 3 pieces of broccoli. And the noodles were perplexing: they were covered in a thick crust and deep fried. Serving separately to the side of the dish. I thought this dish would have everything stir fried together.
My husband had the Thai basil fried rice with chicken. It was quite spicy (which he expected) but the taste in general was a bit off-putting, as it tasted faintly of seafood. We thought it tasted like they had stir fried this dish in the same wok as the one they just cooked seafood in.
We'd come back to try other dishes when jn the area and craving Thai food.
We have been coming here since we moved to AH in 2006 and the food has always been soo good…… today the food was completely different and not good at all. It site
If there is a new chef, new owner but something has definitely changed. Pad Thai did not taste like pad Thai at all. Pad see
Ew was flavorless and mushy. Crab rangoons were dripping
with grease and not
Much flavor. Do not recommend anymore. So sad as it used to be soo good
Picked up dinner from Gumrai tonight and everything was excellent! We ordered the Panang Curry, Beef Pad Woonsen, steamed pot stickers, & Sweet n Sour Chicken. All was SO good! Highly recommend this restaurant!
Place went down since they sold it. Do not go here . It’s not authentic. I’m warning you !
The staff is friendly and attentive. The food is always excellent, with sizable portions. We always have leftovers to enjoy the next day at home. The decor is pretty and the music is soothing.
Food is very good but Very bad service
First time ordering and them missing my drink!!!
Waited 35 minutes for soup. Saw other customers come in that were served their food & appetizers right away. It was empty so no excuse for it being busy. It's 32 degrees outside and it's cold inside the restaurant.
Love this place! Been coming since I moved to AH in 2012. The Penang curry is the best!
Next time please add folk and napkins to my delivery, it’s basic customer service
Transcendent experience. 10/10 would recommend.
Beef pho is really good and feeds three adults.
The best Thai place in the area! We absolutely love gumrai Thai, my husband and I are very picky about Thai food and this is by far the best place in the area. We always order the red curry and pad Thai, the service is always wonderful and very prompt. We went there tonight and it continues to be a great place to dine in!
Delicious food, excellent service, timely, generous serving for catering our event highly recommend! Also, restaurant is great for dine in!
We had dinner at the restaurant with my family for the first time. The server was amazing. The pad kee mao was perfect with shrimp. The chicken Satay was my personal favorite! Will come back again for some chicken tenders.
Food was the best Thai I've had in some time!!
Waiting on an order they said would take 10 min - been waiting 25 and they just yelled from the back to ignore the requested wait time. It also smells like toilet. This was a complete waist of money and time. Walked out after 30 min with no food.
I heard many great things of this restaurant and I was finally in the area to try it. The young man at the door was very nice, greeted me and brought me to my table. Ordered take out and food was ok. Certainly not the best Thai food I had but not the worst either. I definitely don’t think it was worth it for the price. Mostly giving 4 stars because they didn’t even include utensils, napkins, or condiments. You’d think at that price they would include something. Wish I hadn’t left a tip.

Excellent Pad Thai and beef Panang! We will be back!
Great place with amazing food, spacious dining room and lovely staff! I always get leftovers for the next day!

This place is the best place to try Thai food. I don’t live near by, but when my niece told that we should try this place it did not disappoint. The service was 10/10. The staff makes you feel welcome, not only that but the place is such a good vibe. I asked the waitress on what she recommended and she had told me that about the curry’s and noodles. I order a chicken panang curry and my niece got the vegetable pad thai. The curry was delicious and it was delicious you can tast the coconut milk a bit. I ended up trying my nieces noodles and those were amazing too. As a dessert we ended up sharing the banana custard and the banana sticky rice. Both of them 10/10. If you haven’t tried the banana sticky rice you should. It was covered around this green leaf with I later on found out you’re not supposed to eat it. It looks and taste really good. The custard was amazing too, it was topped with Chocolate syrup and crushed peanuts. This place did not disappoint and I highly recommend it. After all, I think the price is decent and affordable. You go somewhere else and you will be spending the same amount for only two people.
The worst thai food we have ever had and worst dining experience in general. I strongly advise to stay away from this place if you don’t want get sick or simply disappointed.

Not really sure if inedible pad thai is worth almost $18.
I regret that I didn’t speak to the manager.
Here is a summary of our experience from Saturday 8/10/2024 in order.
- We entered this place around 4pm on Saturday and it was completely empty. Staff looked uninterested, utensils weren't clean and the whole ambiance just seemed odd. We still decided to try this place, so we ordered a tofu appetizer and two noodle dishes. Our server acted indifferent making us feel like intruders. She looked at how we moved bar/drink menu to the side and exhaled saying "so you don't want this". Fast forward and we're 15+ mins later and I am absorbing knowledge from other recent negative reviews left on google. It's all starting to come together... Appetizer finally shows up on our table with no further words and eye contact from our server. It's very greasy and soaked in oil.
- Both main dishes are ready on the table and... calling them mediocre or even thai would be a huge compliment. It's not that they lack flavor or something. They both taste like a mess drowning in too much sauce and it was just unacceptable to serve quality wise. I forced myself to eat most of my entree while my wife just couldn't handle that. We looked around multiple times and saw our server on her phone by the bar/front desk area. No communication and no interpersonal skills coming from her whatsoever. I get how we all have problems and good and bad days, but maybe consider trying to pretend that you care especially if you're in service/customer service industry?!
- Overall, we felt like we were trespassing patiently waiting for someone to approach us to inform that we were a part of some weak hidden-camera prank. Sadly that was not the case here. Feeling like we hit a jackpot of negative restaurant related things and issues from the food to service and to the general 'restaurant' vibe.
- By the time we asked for a check and for a takeout box our server seemed to realize that something was wrong, but she did not bother to ask. The tension concluded when I attempted to pay by putting my card in a server book & the server took it out standing right by me with a card terminal where I had to press multiple buttons to leave a 10% tip. It definitely felt odd with her just standing above me looking at that screen all the way until the end.
- I have two major regrets. The first one relates to curiosity, because I really wanted to try this thai place since I drove by it many times. This place felt off since we sat down and I regret not getting up to leave before I got myself & my wife in this mess. We do have two thai restaurants that we regularly visit and thinking about expanding that list by giving this 'restaurant' a chance was not a wise choice. The second regret relates to not being vocal about a number of mess ups that turned into big disaster, but at the same time I was aware that everything that could possibly go wrong actually went wrong, so there was no way of offering an acceptable solution or 'fix'.
I almost forgot the thrill associated with driving back home where we were contemplating whether we'll get sick from ingesting this food.
TL;DR avoid now and thank me later
Place is really cool and really good food really clean and nice
Delicious food, we enjoyed leftovers for days. Very friendly staff. Would definitely return again!
The Panang curry (I get the combination, beef, chicken, and shrimp ) is amazing! One of my top five favorite dishes anywhere). I’ve had it six times in the last 3 months and it’s consistently wonderful with a nice amount of spice. Kantigo is the manager and always very welcoming. The red curry is also very good.
Very good food but the last couple of times it wasn’t ready on time - like 15 minute wait past what they told me. Don’t order online if you order anything but directly from the menu. The last 2 times they got our order wrong. When meals are $16 each - it’s nice to get what you order!
Ordered a couple appetizers for takeout, the portion sizes were plenty and service was quick and efficient. Will definitely be back again!
We were celebrating a birthday of 8 with a reservation. When we got there the table wasn’t ready, it didn’t take long because the restaurant wasn’t busy, after that, our waitress disappeared a couple of times but the biggest issue was after the cake (when I did the reservation I asked if we can bring one and the person, male, was very friendly and say no problem); so after we cut the cake and were leaving we asked for the box to take the left over cake and instead of letting me know she throw it away she went a took the box out of the garbage and brought it to us, off course the box smell disgusting and, once again, I have to get out the table to complain and ask for a solution. We won’t never go back and I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant. Unfortunately one waitress damaged the whole experience
Waitresses are not nice. Cooks are don't know on how to cook garlic dish. I ordered Garlic dish but they they cook completely different porridge 😃lol. I told this is not a Garlic dish but they said i have to pay. Lol I paid. But I would never come back. Eqq roll bad I was very hungry I ate😔
Very cozy spot right next to downtown Arlington Heights. I don't know what I was expecting when I walked in, but they beat expectations by a lot. I will definitely be coming back here often.
Crab Rangoon was pretty good. The Basil Salmon was super salty, and the Pad Thai was unexceptional. This place was a disappointment.
Fresh and generous portions.
Service from Dia was the best we’ve ever had, deserved a great tip.
My order took longer then was promised. Also I said no eggs and my food smiled like eggs
Green curry was good and they weren’t skimpy with the ingredients but I took a star off because I asked how spicy it was and the waitress checked with the chef who said mild and it definitely is not mild. I had a canker sore and that wasn’t a good night for my canker sore.
First of all let me just say wow! Absolutely wonderful Thai spot. I went with a friend for dinner recently and it’s such a cozy and welcoming place. The food was incredible. I highly recommend the crab rangoon and the Tom Yum soup which was big enough to share! The Pad Thai was also a huge hit but the thing that stood out the most was the exceptional service. Our server Dia was incredibly attentive and so kind. We will definitely be back again.
Great food as always! Service was excellent as well. The spicy basil chicken is a must try!
Their new lunch specials are perfect! I went with my husband and we each got a soup and he got an egg roll while I got a crab rangoon along with our orders. He ordered the seafood pad thai and I ordered chicken yellow curry which came with white rice. Both of our orders were equally delicious and the portion for lunch was spot on. Don’t forget to add the Thai iced coffee to your order, it’s the perfect afternoon pick me up!
Good food, friendly staff.
My husband and i went there for lunch yesterday and we are so disappointed with the food very expesive it is better to go to a chinese restaurant cheaper and much better food i ordered pad thai with the combination of the 3 extra toppings but they gave 2 pcs of cold shrimp and more chopped squid and tough beef on top of the soggy noodles
I’ve been to many thai restaurants but this restaurant is the worst i don’t know if the chief or the owners know what they are serving . The food in the menu is totally different on what u get i think the owners are not even Thais. Really disappointing i wish i could give zero rating f possible i don’t recommend this restaurant
Thai food... but painted over in white!
Very disappointed in Gumrai Thai. The food is just not there, it’s too soggy, beef is too hard, doughy and uses American broccoli 🥦 instead of asian broccoli. The soup tastes like powder mixed with water. No wok flavor, doesn’t wow me at all. Very cheap on the ingredients used but wants to charge $13 for Pad See Ew and Pad Thai…
Service was pretty good but it seems like they don’t know for an asian restaurant that chop sticks should be the standard with forks and spoons on the side.
2024.02 This place WAS our ABSOLUTE FAVORITE and is not the same since it has been sold or transferred to a new owner. The food is not cooked by the same cook....my husband and I were told the cook didn't leave but we watched many new individuals walk into the kitchen and food definitely tastes different especially the thai rice. In a pinch it's okay but it just lacks the authentic Thai food taste now.
This is our date night spot! This is the absolute only place to get top notch Thai food in the area. If your ever sick....send someone to get you there Tom Yum soup...its phenomenal!!! Their food is ALWAYS amazing, cooked by someone with love and passion for cooking, and the owners are the kindest.....this place feeds your heart and your soul. Everytime we walk in we are treated like family!💙💙💙
Food is very flavorful - ambiance is very cozy - and great service - highly recommended
Good test
The chicken fried rice was amazing and the people were awesome and the atmosphere was like I was home
Chicken Pad Thai was amazing! The staff is friendly and accommodating! Will definitely be back!
Did we eat at the same place?
Pad Thai or disappointing gummy microwaved ramen??
First timer, was excited by the reviews. Lower your expectations, at least for pickup. This may be the worst pad Thai I've ever had.
Nice enough folks and they seemed to be very busy for takeout. To be expected on a Friday night, no issue there.
The chicken pad Thai was inedible. I had a few bites and can tell you: Chicken was tough, noodles were a oversauced gooey/gummy mess, sprouts were scant. The Crab Rangoon was okay/edible, a little sweet for my tastes, but that's subjective, husband liked them.
Back to tried & true, including Bistro Chen just down the street.
Stopped by Arlington heights and visited a friend and found this restaurant. Great food. Recommended to everyone
Maybe we ordered on an off day, but I would definitely not recommend ordering takeout from here. Maybe eating in has better quality, but for $15-18 a dish, takeout was appalling. We were excited to try this place due to the reviews, but were dismally disappointed by the taste and quality.
Pad Thai noodles were super soggy and reminded us of overcooked instant noodles. Papaya salad had a weird flavor (had many amazing papaya salad before) and was swimming in a sea of liquid. Included pics so you can see. We actually had to throw out uneaten leftovers because we knew we would never eat it again.
Do not recommend takeout/delivery.
Huge huge portions! Nice quiet atmosphere and attentive service. We got some pad Thai, khao Soi curry , garlic chicken and pad see ew, and papaya salad. Really enjoyed the khao soi curry, the curry was thick and creamy with and had a rich flavor. The noodles were also crisp and complimented the curry well.
Slow service, took a long time to take order and get drinks.
My Fav thai place to go to. Have never had a bad experience.
Food was great!
Excellent service 👍
First time here.
Our server was very nice. Very welcoming.
We went early for dinner so at that time they were not busy. But people started coming in and the place started getting busy.

We order tom yum soup with tofu. It was yummy. Loved the taste. Edamame were good. Pad Kee Mao spicy were the best. Were not that spicy as much as i expected but they were good. Green curry was good and spicy.
Will definitely come back.
Restrooms- very clean.
For those people who said the food is really good, are the same Americans who say that Chipotle and Taco bell is good Mexican food, I didn't like the food, is not the worst but neither what I expected
Service was amazing, food was very good
Prices ordering online differ from prices posted on menu in restaurant. Asked worker about price differences and they didn’t have an answer. Service is always slow, had a few mistakes in my order details. Waited 45 minutes for a take out order at lunch time. Food is fantastic though, so unfortunately we have to come back.

GREAT, WONDERFUL FOOD! I got halfway through my Chicken Tom Yum Noodle Soup (towards the end of the in-person menu) and knew I had to take a pic to write an excellent review. My boyfriend got Chicken Pad Thai and loved it as well! We will definitely be coming back! SO, SOOOO GOOD.
I was very disappointed with the food and the service at Gumrai. Two of the three dishes I ordered were missing key ingredients. The Papaya salad was missing peanuts, green beans and spice. And the two pieces of pale tomato were inedible. The satay chicken was dry and they neglected to include the peanut dipping sauce. When I called to inform the restaurant, the manager was talking to other people while I was sharing my concerns. He asked me to hold and then hung up. I returned the call and he said he would resolve the problem and would call me back in 30 minutes. He never did.
They can make anything vegetarian. Food is absolutely fabulous. It’s got new people running it but if you like Thai food, it’s really good. The tofu is fluffy and delightful.
Thai..!!! You looking for Thai Food? Well seems you have been missing a lot if you haven’t been here..! 🤩

Title: A Culinary Journey to Remember at Gumrati Thai
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Gumrati Thai and I must say, it was an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. This restaurant truly exceeded all of my expectations and provided a culinary journey that will be etched in my memory forever.
From the moment I entered, I was captivated by the vibrant and elegant ambiance of Gumrati Thai. The decor, infused with Thai elements, transported me to a different world, setting the perfect stage for the flavors yet to come.
The menu at Gumrati Thai is a masterpiece in itself, filled with a wide array of authentic Thai dishes that cater to all taste buds. The culinary expertise of the chefs was evident in every dish that was served.
One standout dish that left me speechless was the Pad Thai. The combination of perfectly cooked rice noodles, succulent shrimp, and an exquisite balance of tangy and savory flavors was absolutely incredible. Each bite was a harmonious explosion of tastes, showcasing the culinary mastery of the chefs.
Aside from the exceptional food, the service at Gumrati Thai was remarkable. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure a memorable dining experience. From the moment I sat down until the final bite, I felt well taken care of, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that further enhanced the entire experience.
Moreover, the attention to detail at Gumrati Thai was admirable. From the presentation of the dishes to the beautifully arranged table settings, it was clear that the restaurant takes great pride in providing a complete dining experience.
In conclusion, Gumrati Thai is an outstanding restaurant that delivers an incredible Thai culinary journey. Whether you are a connoisseur of Thai cuisine or someone looking to explore new flavors, this restaurant is a must-visit. With its delightful ambiance, expertly crafted dishes, and impeccable service, Gumrati Thai has earned my highest recommendation. Prepare yourself for an unforgettable dining experience.
Only negative was that they didn't have beer! Food was EXCELLENT!
First time here, the food was so delicious and the portions were very large. Great service, will be coming back !
A Thai Gem in Arlington Heights
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)
Gumrai Thai is a treasure in the heart of Arlington Heights. The family-owned establishment embodies warmth and hospitality, making you feel welcome from the moment you step inside.
The menu at Gumrai Thai is a delightful blend of traditional Thai dishes, all prepared with an authentic touch. For us, the standout dishes were always the Tofu Kao Soi and the Tom Kha. The Tofu Kao Soi, with its creamy coconut broth, crispy noodle topping, and perfectly cooked tofu, was my wife's favorite. She always appreciated the restaurant's commitment to providing delicious vegetarian options.
As for the Tom Kha, the balance of flavors in this soup was simply outstanding. Tangy, creamy and aromatic, it was a dish we always looked forward to.
Our son Leo, meanwhile, was an ardent fan of their Chicken Satay. The staff's willingness to adjust the spice levels and tailor the servings to be child-friendly was much appreciated.
The service at Gumrai Thai is top-notch. The staff are attentive and efficient, ensuring a pleasant dining experience every time.
In conclusion, Gumrai Thai is a must-visit spot in Arlington Heights. With its inviting atmosphere, authentic and flavorful dishes, and excellent service, it remains a favorite in our family's memories.
Food is really good, someone mentioned they may be closing, hope I'm wrong
We have 3 favorites in this place, the nabeyaki udon, thai basil fried rice with shrimp, and salmon curry.
Food is amazing and very authentic! Definitely try the crab Rangoons and Penang curry.
The lady who is the owner is sooo sweet and friendly!
Highly recommend it!
Good service but poor food quality. We ordered pad Thai and pepper steak. Pad thai was very sweet, no salt at all and noodles were sticking. Pepper steak had no pepper and no taste. No salt was added. We asked for more salt because the pad thai was not edible. It was as though they poured sweet syrup into the noodle disk contains beef.
Such good Thai food! Love it here!
The best curry.
Love their food.
the Pad seeiew and Mango sticker rice is so good.😋
Gumrai Thai is AMAZING. The staff and servers are beyond kind. The food is absolutely delicious. You can always tell the ingredients are fresh. If you are looking for something to try I highly recommend the Panang or yellow curry. Can't wait for my next visit.
Absolute love this place. My very first time here and I can't wait to go back. The greeter was nice! Showing us to our seats, giving us water and menus. The server was the best and she know exactly what the best sellers. What to try and what not to try. The cook was great too! Clean food! Great tasting! And willing to go back real soon. Thank you all again.
We carried out but the restaurant appeared very welcoming. The Thai cuisine was very good.
Best thai food I’ve ever had. It is absolutely amazing!! I highly recommend the appetizer platter, pad thai, pad kee mao, and the papaya salad!! I am hooked on the papaya salad the sauce is AMAZING and captured the greasiness of the other dishes. It was so delicious I cannot wait to go back there again!! Highly recommend this restaurant. The owners are also soooo friendly!
Great food, service, staff.
Appetizer platter is perfect for 3 people.
Moderate, most of the dishes are sweet. I like hot and spicy items and if you’re like me this is not for us.
Absolutely delicious food and wonderful customer service :) highly recommend!!
Very cozy, clean, and flavorful
Their curries taste really good, however I have ordered Salmon twice and both times it wasn't fresh and it was chewy, didn't taste well.
Their paupya salad is spicy and so yummmmy!! Yup if I lived close I'd eat here twice a week or more!!
Best Tom kha soup ever
Best Thai food in Arlington Heights - with the bonus the make amazing vietnamese beef Pho.
Great hostess!! New comfy chairs.
Good food and service
We had heard about this Thai restaurant from few friends so decided to try it out. It's a small size restaurant close to downtown Arlington Heights. We went on a Sunday night, and the place was mostly empty.
A few items, such as papaya salad and tomyum soup, were really good. Non-vegetarian items such as Kung pao chicken were not good.
Overall, we had an average experience.
The food had little taste to it. The rice looked like instant rice and not made in slow cooker, the noodles in pad Thai were ramen noodles, and the service so so slow. We waited about 15 minutes before anyone came to take our order and there were only 2 other customers in the store.
Please change the music. It's the same lady singing a cover of every song in the same tone. Food and service are great. Little pricy on the apps.
Good red curry
Not authentic at all. Can eat it but won't go back. Those Thai res in the Schaumburg area are much better.
Awesome curry dishes, pad Thai, and Mongolian pork/beef, and Tom Yum Soup. Fair prices and nice service. Highly recommend this place if you're in the Arlington Heights area!
A hidden little gem in AH but so good! Portions are great and food is delish!
Great food and great service
Beef Salad was outstanding!
The BEST pad kee mao
Great experience! The catfish sliders were AWESOME!
Favorite Thai restaurant in the NW suburbs. I really like the catfish pudped. Pad thai and tom yum are all good. Portion sizes are great for the price.
Amazing Thai food.
The crab rangoons are made in house and are the BEST around.
The panang beef is my favorite dish.
My kids love the orange chicken.
This is my favorite Thai place in Arlington Heights. Their noodle dishes are all tasty and I like the tofu, it's fresh and large cuts. Unlike tiny dry tofu you'll get other places. Great decor too, a nice quiet place for dinner.
This is my favorite Thai place! It is a must try and hidden gem in the Arlington Heights area.
Since moving from the city to the suburbs, I've been looking for my go-to Thai restaurant and I've found it!
The service was wonderful and the food was even better. I ordered crab rangoons (they were enormous!), "small" spicy Tom Ka soup that wasn't at all small, and a platter of basil fried rice. I couldn't believe how huge the portions were and, again, it was all delicious. Rangoons, soup, rice, and two cokes cost just under $32 after tax - and I'm pretty sure I took home enough leftovers to feed me for two more days!
Their food is amazing. Their portions are generous, especially for the price. Everything we have tried on the menu is delicious. I especially love their pad thai and thai iced coffee. Will definitely become a regular here.
Great food! They play a lot of slow-remixed oldies. The Thai food is good - my favorite is the Pad Thai but my comfort choice is curry fried rice. The panang curry is also great. $13 for most basic entrees after tax. The door is a bit hard to open due to pressure/wind
We had nicest, most pleasant server. Outstanding service and food. Had the Tom Yum and Panang Curry which were delicious.
Always an amazing experience! Delicious food.
Absolutely the best Thai food! Generous portions, plenty of veggies, quality meats. Also fast. A must try for sure. You’ll be glad you did. 😃
EVERYTHING we've had here is fantastic! Best Thai in the area. On point with their Panang Curry and Pad See Eiw. They have THE best service! In so many places, service and quality has suffered in this era of COVID-- NOT HERE!
Complete disorganization. We where the only customers inside. Still I waited 40 min for my plate. My wife never received hers. We walked out after an hour of waiting. The manager laughed at us and asked why do we have a problem with service. Joke of a restaurant.
This is my favorite Thai place in the northwest suburbs. I visited Thailand a few years ago and eating here always brings me back! You get LARGE portions, attentive staff, and delicious food! You couldn’t ask for a better place! Cozy yet bright atmosphere! A must visit if you’re in town!
I used to live in Arlington Heights but moved to Schaumburg. I drive all the way to come back to this place because no one in Schaumburg is nearly as good. Love their food!
My favorite place for Pad Thai and Tom Yum soup. Always great service as well!
Terrible customer service! We were waiting for our dinner for over 30 min and we were the only customers inside !!! We received half of our order. Just one plate for one person. When we asked what happened owners were laughing and never served second plate!! We left hungry and NEVER gonna come back !
Very good food. Staff is very friendly.
I LOVE this place! Ate here for the first time two weeks ago and now it’s my favorite! I can’t stop coming back😭
The food is amazing, the prices are great, the portions are great, and the employees are awesome. The waitress Apple is so kind and helpful that I come back not only for the food, but to feel warm and comfortable. The Pad Khee Mao is great for spicy food lovers and the Thai iced tea is to die for ;)
Highly recommend Gumrai Thai!!
Delicious food and kind servers!
One of the best Thai food that I have tasted. Definitely a must go place. Their drunken noodles dish is the best. Please continue to maintain the great taste in your dishes
I wish I could go to Gumrai Thai more often; however, it’s far from our place. We always go here whenever we are in the Arlington Heights area. This is one of the best Thai places around in the Western and Northern suburbs. We haven’t found any place that comes close to this place. Alt-Thai is also quite good, but this place offers similar quality at cheaper prices. We’ve tried their Thai curries, Pad Thai and other kinds of noddles, and a few appetizers. All of them are terrific and absolutely delicious. My kid likes their curries a lot. The staff is also quite courteous and friendly. Overall a great find (and a reasonable alternative to super-pricey Alt-Thai). We love this place.
The food is amazing, very flavorful and authentic. This is the only Thai place me and my husband eat at in the area. Portions are good. They seem to have a problem with online ordering, we go to pick up and they haven’t gotten it sometimes. I’d say just call to order if you’re doing takeout. Staff is nice as well! Basil fried rice is my fav!
Amazing food and excellent service
One of worst meals ever had
Decent but they got our take out delivery totally wrong.
I was very excited to try a new Thai place, but I was left pretty disappointed with my order. I got tofu pad thai with extra veggies, but when I opened it at home there were three pieces of tofu and very few veggies. One of the containers had basically all noodles, something I paid $11 for in addition to a tip- I wish this was a better experience.
A hidden gem on the north tip of Downtown Arlington Heights. Everything was well-portioned and tasted great. Very inviting staff and will definitely visit many more times.
