Authentic Thai and Burmese Cuisines
This is my first time at this place. When I walk in, there are no guests sitting down so i was alone and the owner well who i think is the owner came out of the kitchen and thought I had ordered something. I eventually ordered something and he himself took the order and then went back to the kitchen. So he is a chef and he a cashier and does delivery by himself! Much respect and I gave him a small tip . Place is small. I don't think there are any bathrooms in there though I never got up to check. So for the atmosphere I'm giving it a 3 star. It isn't bad but just very empty therefore kinda uninviting.
I ordered the beef curry which comes with white rice, pork dumplings, cheesecake, and a strawberry smoothie.
Smoothie was definitely real as in they used real strawberries and it wasn't drowned in fructose syrup. With that being said, it wasn't super sweet, but just right especially with the food I ordered. Very hardy food i ordered. It was refreshing and a nice texture so that is a mega plus!
The dumplings were also good and savory. Dunno what kind of sauce that was but if it was soy sauce, it definitely wasn't your typical soy sauce. It wasn't super salty and sour. It was comforting really!
The Beef curry was hardy and good and had a wonderful sweet aroma to it too, but there definitely needed to be more sauce. The curry was more so big chunks of beef than anything else. It
The cheesecake was good. They didn't have strawberry or raspberry sauce so they'd used chocolate sauce. The cheesecake itself was thick and it wasn't really cold so I'm wondering if it was a fresh batch or whatever i dunno but it wasn't too rich for me to not be able to finish it all so I love that.
Everything was good. I don't really have any complaints. I will be back but next time I may just do take out or bring a friend who likes Thai food cuz being alone kinda sucked a little bit you know.
Shout out to the owner and the other worker! Thank you!
This food is excellent. This is authentic Thai. The flavors are balanced perfectly and the food is always fresh. Everything I've had is great. I love the curries, rice noodle dishes and the ginger salad is phenomenal. The samosas are boss - the sauce that they serve them with is amazing. I highly recommend this establishment.
“Don’t judge a book by its cover” couldn’t be more true when it comes to Family Thai Restaurant. The area around the restaurant may look a bit old and quiet, and even the restaurant itself has a simple, unassuming appearance, but don’t let that fool you. Inside, it’s clean and welcoming, and the food is truly a hidden gem!
I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious everything was. The Burmese Fried Noodle with Chicken was the standout for me – packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. The Tom Yum Soup with Seafood and Kung Pao Chicken were phenomenal as well, bursting with bold, fresh flavors. Even the Sesame Chicken, which had a great crunch and flavor, felt more like a sweet and sour chicken – still very tasty!
The portions are extremely generous, and to top it all off, it’s incredibly affordable. You can easily eat for $10-15 per person, with each person ordering their own dish. It’s a fantastic value for such high-quality food.
Definitely worth the money and the visit. I’ll absolutely be coming back again!”
Awesome small place for sure. The food was great and the staff was friendly and courteous. Ordered 2 Thai teas, Pad Thai chicken, Burmese chicken, and noodles. Softest chicken I've ever had and the noodles on both meals were great and the perfect softness. Thai teas were creamy and smooth. If we lived closer we would make this the place to go with friends and family.
We were on a vacation to Niagara falls and stopped on the way at this fantastic place. I don't know if this place is underrated, but it's really worth trying. We had a dine-in and the customer service was amazing. The food was super cheap and the quality of food was amazing. We ordered a bunch of food: sushi, noodles, wonton soup, general TSO chicken 🐔, duck, samosa.. Everything was amazing and so delicious. Fresh meat, great flavor and the food was ready within minutes. I believe it's a family run business, they were friendly and it was nice to sit there and have some great food. The location where it was situated looked odd as if the neighborhood is not well developed (saw some posters on car theft). This restaurant really surprised me with the location and quality and price of the food. Definitely a must place to visit 👍👍👍👍
Love this place, and as a well-traveled Malaysian, I approve this place! Please don't change anything in the way you prepare your food. We each got a noodle soup bowl because that's what we were craving, and they didn't disappoint. The broth was flavorful and perfect. We will be back to try other dishes on the menu!
We got Thai Family take out tonight for dinner. They were really good about making sure we got our vegan meal, they were very accommodating. We got Pad Kee Mow, which didn't really have much taste. But everything else we got was REALLY good. We ordered a Thai fried noodle but got Burmese noodles, but they were REALLY good so we weren't mad. The Pad See Euw was pretty good. The best thing we got was the basil fried rice with a giant fried egg.
If we went back I'd definitely get the Fried Rice, it was soooooo good.
The food was really good! I ordered the crispy tofu salad and vegetable stir fry and vegetable curry it was very tasty and flavorful… I forgot to make pictures but the food was really good… the only down side was I dined in and the server sucked, she was not friendly did not check on us to see if we needed anything, but I would definitely get my order to go next time…
Truly authentic and yummy food!
Food is amazing! Fresh, high quality ingredients and the cook knows what he’s doing!

the reviews seemed good so i ordered here. it smells like mop water when you walk in and just isn’t a generally clean area. the wonton soup tastes bad which confuses me bc i’ve never had bad wonton soup. the spring rolls have all vegetables and a skinny piece of shrimp. none of the pictures are real and all seem to be from google. the reviews also seemed staged bc no way the food is good. waste of money

This cute little place had absolutely delicious food for a pretty affordable price and a good portion size that kept me full for pretty much the rest of my day. 10/10 recommend
Chicken curry @ level 3 spicy.
I've eaten at several excellent Burmese places on the West Coast and the food here is just as delicious.
Their dishes have a warm, family vibe, make you feel good!
The food is delicious.
We were passing through the town and ordered pad thai as takeout. It was excellent, and I highly recommend this place!
We are the only ones in here, but I can't understand why. The food is top notch! Sure the outside looks a little rundown, but food more than makes up for it. If you like Asian food try it!
Lunch was wonderful here! Staff was so kind! Food was out quickly and was DELICIOUS!
Outstanding! A gem of asian cuisine in buffalo.
Husband & wife can seriously cook. 5 star spicy is about the hottest you'll find too
Incredible food. Service was very friendly and helpful. We were not rushed and was a very relaxed atmosphere. Very simple for "decor" but had a great time and food was very fresh. Tried entrees and appetizers, all very flavorful. Delicious!

Delicious quality (fresh) food!
The portions were generous and delicious! I got the roast duck with steamed veggies and fried wonton. My husband got Tom Yum Soup and my daughter got a caterpillar roll which is grilled unaqi (eel) and cucumber topped with avocado, sesame seeds, and eel sauce. It was a work of art!!!
BEST PAD THAI in WNY!! I've tried other places and they don't measure up. I love their pad thai and samosas. They give a reasonable amount. The veggie curry was good as well.
Ordered takeout Pad Kee Mao Noodle (Thai hot) and Red Curry (Hot). Order was ready exactly on time and packed well. The bag even completely flipped over in the car on a turn and not a drop spilled.
Very good portions for the price. Will definitely order again and try other dishes. Thai hot was spicy but nothing too crazy, so I am going to kick it up to 'Extremely hot' next time.
I went for lunch to FTR with friends on Saturday. We had green papaya salad, green tea leaf salad, panang curry and fresh vegetables rolls. The food was very fresh, well cooked, tasty and overall a very enjoyable meal. The atmosphere is not the best, but worth going to. I'm going back for sure.
my new go to Thai spot. worth the drive from the Elmwood Village. the portions and flavors are excellent. huge portions and the dishes are so inexpensive. I got a curry dish, drunken noodles, and an appetizer and it was only $32. flavors were on point. ordered the dishes thai hot and they did not disappoint.
I LOVED the curry chicken and Thai tea! Highly recommend this place. Never disappointed. Travel from Niagara Falls for it.
Best crab ragoons in town!
We were just passing through and decided to visit based on other Google reviews. Tell you what, we almost didn't get out of the car when we got there - but we are so glad we did, the food was just excellent. Authentic Thai and other Asian food, tasty California rolls, and big portions. This is run by a family and their attention to customer service really makes a difference. But the interior of the restaurant looks like high school cafeteria, so don't expect any ambiance 😅
Not somewhere I would recommend
Wonderful food! The curry pork is to die for. Best I've ever had.
Best Myanmar restaurant outside of Myanmar.
Burmese lady runs this business
The shrimp pad thai was delish!!!! I've never had it with bell peppers before and it was delightful. I also had 2 different sushi rolls. Everything was great!!!!

Good place for Burmese and Thai food.
Late night best order thanks
Food and service is always good.
The vegetable samosas were good, the crab rangoons were good…. Chicken pad Thai was not so good.
Very flavorful food. Good prices.
Like Tom Kai Suppe.
Horrible experience I will never eat here again. I ordered green curry and that is a picture of what I got. It was absolutely disgusting and didn’t taste like curry what so ever. I go back into the restaurant to have the food remade and I order potato curry instead, they didn't give me the chicken I paid for or anything. Safe to say the only good food you can get in Buffalo is pizza and wings.
The papaya salad was really bad they literally make it without 🦂The taste of the food was horrible they just make it to get money . Should tasted the food first
Awesome wonton soup full of flavor and rich n light at the same time. Really good and will be going back.
Ok, I'm going to be honest. This place is not beautiful, or fancy at all, not a place to take your significant other on a date... That out of the way, the food is for real. It's solo delicious, the pad Thai (beef) was amazing as well as the Samosas and Thai iced tea. Great flavors.
Very good Thai food awesome place to eat lunch quiet and clean
This was really delicious. I got chicken pad thai, pork spring rolls, and thai iced boba tea.
The pad Thai was amazing. Very fairly priced- I believe $10. I normally get pad Thai from west side bazaar, which is still the best place I've ever gotten the dish from, in any city I've visited (of course only in North America. I'm sure other countries would have really great options too 😄). With the fire that happened there, though, I had to find another option. And Family Thai was perfect!! It was a HUGE portion and I will definitely be getting this again.
The pork spring rolls were alright. I wasn't expecting the sauce to come in a packet but hey why not? I actually really loved the sauce. The rolls themselves were alright. I would get them again, just maybe not pork.
The boba was alright. They didn't have it ready when I got there which I really appreciated. That way the ice didn't melt so that was nice! But the flavor of the tea was just alright. Probably wouldn't get again. I think it was $4.99
And the service was great! Everyone was very friendly and I only waited a minute or two for my food upon arrival.
Definitely would order again 👍🏽
Definitely one of the top thai/burmese restaurants in Buffalo. The food is flavorful and perfectly prepared.

We went there on the recommendation of the Buffalo News and weren’t disappointed. We had Wanton soup, Tea leaf salad and Pad Thai. It was excellent and will definitely go again. Large portions and well prepared. When you visit you will be pleased.
Pretty tasty, quick service and authentic taste.
Excellent! My daughter loves the coconut chicken noodle soup. My wife and I got the curry chicken and potato, and it was delicious.
Okay, so technically speaking, Street Asian Food serves the best Thai in Buffalo. But man alive, do they gouge you on prices. I guess it's an unavoidable side effect of what they're probably being charged for rent on Elmwood Avenue, but hey, I didn't tell them to open their restaurant there.
As for Family Thai, they're a close second in terms of food, but their prices are so much lower that it's worth my while to drive all the way out to Riverside even though Street Asian is just a couple blocks from my house. I pay probably about 25% less and the portions are twice the size. Literally. And you'll never meet a friendlier staff.
Give them your business. Please.
The food was really good! I ordered the crispy tofu salad and vegetable stir fry and vegetable curry it was very tasty and flavorful… I forgot to make pictures but the food was really good… the only down side was I dined in and the server sucked, she was not friendly did not check on us to see if we needed anything, but I would definitely get my order to go next time…
One of the random restaurants we were looking for in buffalo. The restaurant is quite clean and quite comfortable.
The chef who cooks is indeed very experienced with menus from East and Southeast Asia. The portion served is very large.
We ordered some path thai menu, laksa and also wonton soup. The three menus are very tasty and suitable for Asian tongues. The taste is also full of spices and very similar to the original food from the country of origin.
We highly recommend this place for those of you who want to try Asian flavors
Me and my siblings ate here for the first time today and we loved the woman who was working register, waiter and made our Boba. She was very nice and welcoming! Soup was good, shrimp and calamari was tasty and the noodles were nice! We had to use takeout boxes since we were so full 😊.
Service is friendly. Food is okay. The tamarind and fish sauce ratio is off on the Pad Thai. I was confused that they serve it with lemon. Not a fan of that at all. Tom yum was decent. I think I would search for greener pastures rather than returning.
Spoke to a very professional employee on the phone to place a takeout order. Was greeted promptly by another staff upon arrival, order was ready within a few minutes, pleasant experience overall, my taro bubble tea was just what I needed and the food was pretty delightful as well
It’s a hole in the wall. But the food is excellent. We had the Tom yum soup, pad see ew, and spring rolls.
Very friendly. Amazing food. Great Thai iced tea. Great sushi. We had about a dozen dishes and every one of them was great.
Great food and a lovely service too! I recommend you try their basil fried rice (medium spice)......
Really tasty and fresh food! Was worth our 30 minute detour looking for a good thai restaurant to eat.
Great service. To go order we picked up was ready quickly and the service was friendly. They forgot a part of the order and when we called about it, they were really apologetic and delivered the missing item for free. Better service here than I’ve ever had ordering through doordash, Ubereats, etc. Plus the caterpillar roll was beautifully made and delicious.
Always a pleasure. Ordered the Chicken Curry! Yum!
Loved the food here. Pad Thai chicken was made very good. Papaya salad was bit bitter, but I don't know how it's suppose to taste. It was my first time trying the famous papaya salad and I don't think I'll try it again. The chicken curry was good but the food overall and the drinks are good. Would go back again and try all the other things on the menu.
The food was good
Amazing tom yum soup inspired me to try making it for myself
Very unassuming little place. Staff very friendly, family all involved. The food was outstanding and reasonably priced. Tom Kha Gai was amazing soup. Partner's Pad Thai was perfect. And my Roast Duck special was so perfectly cooked and crispy.
The food was amazing worth the wait during entry cause after you eat and wait for your food you feel amazing
Good food!
No frills place, nice staff, great food
Our favorite restaurant in Buffalo! The pennywort salad is addictive. Every dish has more flavor than what you will get at other restaurants. The service is quick, too. Highly recommended!
I ordered the Pad Thai with Chicken (10.99) and the pork wontons ($6.50) and was not disappointed. The pad Thai was flavorful and the medium spice level was what I expected (definitely want to go back for hotter levels). There was a good amount of chicken in the dish and the noodles were not over cooked. The wontons were wontons and came with a sweet-and-sour sauce basically something I’ve had it lots of other restaurants but that wasn’t a bad thing because they tasted great.
I ordered my meal to-go so I can’t comment on the dine-in service, but the staff were prompt and attentive when I came to grab my order and it look like a pleasant place to grab a quick meal. Will return to try many more things on their menu. Very reasonable prices.
AMAZING! All around great food, everytime my family and I go there we are all extremely satisfied. I've tried a bunch of different stuff, and its always delicious. They have been very accommodating to vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free. Thank you Family Thai! We'll be back again soon!
The Food there is Exceptionally Great. I enjoyed Dining in before this Pandemic, Definitely family oriented. The service is Good there as well
We got Thai Family take out tonight for dinner.
Nice lady. Quick service. Good prices
It is good for a quick bite to eat or a small group of people to eat inside. The good Is good and the patron is hospitable. It is small though and I wouldn't recommend having a very large group here. The food is very spicy as well. If you don't like spicy they are very good at making their food delicious and non spicy. My biggest complaint is that they don't always answer the phone. Other than that, I have become enthralled with this place lately and find myself here for lunch often.
This restaurant serves a superb vegetable fried rice; the best I have anywhere in Buffalo and beyond I was given a generous portion size; the short grain rice was cooked perfectly (tender inside yet firm on the outside) and loaded with mixed vegetables and egg (scrambled well done, but not hard). I was full after eating, so this could be a meal for lunch or a light dinner. Sometimes the most memorable meals are a simple dish that has been perfected and Family Thai gets an A+! I am looking forward to trying other items on their menu.
good food
The burmese food here is authentic, but the Thai not so much, but that's not to say it's not good because it is. The food has been changed a little to please the western taste I've noticed.
So DAMN good!!! Ugh addicting. Best thai food in buffalo period!!
Very delicious homemade Thai food, friendly staff
I’m surprised that they had 5 stars in here.. I been there with Thai group last week, We Oder only 3 menu to test before we going to Oder more BUT We leave because food doesn’t test anything Thai and not even Thai people in that place, Only Myanmar people working there.. The best I can give to them only 2 star
We went for Burmese food and their Kyae Oo and moh hnin kar were very good...a lot better than Linn Restaurant..
I went on a Friday evening with my husband, small children, and in-laws. The food was phenomenal. My father-in-law ordered penang curry with seafood. When he got it though, it came with chicken instead. That was quickly remedied, and he loved it. My mother-in-law and I both got beef pad see ew.
Best Asian food
I recommend everyone to stop by . The foods from Family Thai Restaurant is so delicious. I ordered (Kay O )it come with the rice noodles ,And Thai foods . The orders come out on time .The servers were so nice and pretty. They make foods very clean and They have amazing foods ..They don't use (MSG ).I Love it 💕💕💕💕💓💓💓⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐......
Authentic taste and great services! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Great food
Love their Pad Thai. I get it a lot. I also recommend their Bubble Tea🙂
Remembered them from the West side bazaar. Food was excellent, as usual. Staff was very friendly.
Great food, good service, decent price..
The larb salad had a great flavor. I was very happy to find a place that served Som Tum with the requisite dried shrimp.
Great food...great customer service
love their food
The only place to get authentic Thai food. It's very inexpensive and it is run by a great family. Do not miss this place.
Great little place! The price is very reasonable.
I only get som tai (papaya salad) every time I go to a Thai eatery. My brother got the seafood stir fry, it was also very good. The place does not joke around with the spice levels. The beef curry was also very good. The peppery broth was the bomb,it was tingling to the tongue. The seafood larb was good, I got Thai-hot, but it wasn't as spicy as I thought it would be.
Delicious food
This family owned restaurant serves the most delicious and authentic Thai food in Buffalo. I highly recommend Family Thai. If you want legit Thai food, this place is a hidden gem. The service is also amazing. Definitely my new favorite Thai spot.
If you some hot ass, Soup that's is on time all the time. Come here!
Amazing food. Authentic.
Excellent food
I ordered takeout here and asked like 10 times for them to make sure there was no eggs, nuts ( due to my nephews allergy) and no meat well 75% of my $120 order had at least one. They was suppose to send someone with the right order by that was 3 hours ago. I mean what I could eat was good but they messed my order up BIG time!
Great food! Authentic and delicious!
