Casual outpost for traditional Thai fare & a kids' menu in bright modern digs with BYOB.
Just in case it's still not clear in the name of the restaurant on Google Reviews, or on their web site, Spice Thai Cafe is takeout only. The best way to order from this Thai restaurant, in my opinion, is to go to their web site and order for take out. This will save you time and you'll know your food is being prepared while you're getting ready to leave the house. Whenever we feel like Thai takeout, we order their pad thai, pad woon sen and kids' fried rice. Portions are satisfactory, sometimes going into the fridge as left overs. Their Thai iced coffee is delicious and gives me that caffein boost whenever I need it most. Service is quick and efficient, and always on time by the time I swing by to pick up our take out.
This is definitely my favorite Thai takeout in Allen. They’re pretty quick and super consistent. I get the Thai fried rice and my husband gets the pad see ew. I also tried the dumpling soup recently and it’s officially my sick soup. Love this place.
Update - 8/28/22 Their prices went up 8/1 I was told but this is expected with the inflation. But the quality of the food drop drastically as well, very bland.
Update - 3/15/22 Went back order the same. Mongolian beef with chicken as extra, Kids Chai Cafe, Thai fried rice. Now you get 4 spring rolls when you spend over $30.
Good actually came out better than expected and on time too. We can kids chai Cafe, that chicken on that was really good but my son didn't like the sauce that came with it. The combination fried rice was good as well and we had the steak with plain fried rice. You get 4 springs rolls when u spend over $20. All came out nicely.

I ordered a lot since it was my first time. The shrimp fried pineapple rice was mediocre, rice tasted like that "refrigerator smell". The corn caked were over fried and super hard to chew (great taste and amazing dipping sauce, just hard since it seemed overcooked). The fresh spring rolls with dipping sauce were good, large dipping sauce. The lettuce was browning and the first bit made the entire roll came undone (wasn't rolled properly), which is fine for me - I still ate it. BUT THE CRISPY SHRIMP ROLLS 😳 THEY WERE SOOOOOO GOOD LOL I DIDN'T EVEN TAKE A PICTURE, I FORGOT! THEY ARE SO AMAZING AND THEIR HOMEMADE SWEET& SOUR DIPPING SAUCE WAS DELICIOUS!!!! I WOULD COME BACK JUST FOR THIS APPETIZER.
We are so fond of this place. The staff , they are super friendly, sweet, polite and the chef is a good cook. The portions are well served . Clean and small cute family operated thai place. Me and my husband we love this place and we often eat there.
* Surprisingly, Cheap for great tasty yummy Thai Food*
The food is amazing and customer service is exceptional!!!! Best Crab friedrice and thai curry ever!! Love that place!
I had to wait 17 minutes for my Uber Eats that had already been marked as ready. Nobody greets you when you enter the store. The food was mediocre. Nothing about this place merits a second chance.
Pad see ew
This is definitely my favorite Thai takeout in Allen. They’re pretty quick and super consistent. I get the Thai fried rice and my husband gets the pad see ew. I also tried the dumpling soup recently and it’s officially my sick soup. Love this place.
Best Thai food in the area. I have never had a bad experience here both before and after COVID when they switched to carry-out/delivery. Friendly staff and good food for the price.

Best Thai food I've ever had.
Was in facto not open and a waste of my time walking here.
Noodles were okay. The beef and chicken in the two dishes we got tasted like shrimp. They obviously reused oils and it ruined the proteins in the dishes. Did not provide silverware either. Stay away especially if you have a shellfish allergy, and both my girlfriend and I’s stomach was upset after eating their food. We won’t be going back
Reliable Thai take out only place. Love their crab regions, crab soup and spring roles. I’ll be back!
Best thai place in Dallas. We are take out almost every week and the taste is consistently great!! Must try.
I was visiting Fort Worth fot a business trip and had this delivered to my hotel. Panang Curry with brown rice and spring rolls. I can't believe how delicious it was! The curry was exactly what I expected after finding my favorite place and favorite curry in my hometown. I didn't expect it to be such a close match. The brown rice was the most amazing plain rice I've ever had. The spring rolls could have used a little mint, but they were still fresh and delicious. It was delivered 7 miles away and still too hot to eat at first. I doubt I'll ever be in this area again (kinda hope I won't) but if I am, I know where I'm eating.
Our go-to Thai take out place! Portions are huge, service is quick and consistent with their flavor. Their pad thai is 2 portions for me!
Tom Kha has lettuce in it.
Food is amazing every single time.
This is the BEST Thai food in the Allen/McKinney area! I’ve been coming here for years. Great quality and great portion sizes. Highly recommend!
Very disappointed with order after requesting substitution of green beans for bean sprouts, and it was totally ignored. When I called to complain I was told the wording was confusing to the chef. Can't understand SUBSTITUTE in a restaurant???
Excellent authentic Thai food! The food is always consistent and the service is good.
This place is carry-out only, but have ordered 5 times in the last 6 months, really good quality food, definitely my favorite Thai food place. My goal is to try out all the dishes!
Best Pad Kee Maow!! We order with beef and medium spice, it’s a great dish to share with friends!
Easily the best Thai food I’ve had in the DFW. I’ve tried so many different Thai restaurants looking for a quality restaurant and this is it. Food amazing every single time. HIGHLY recommend.
The Chicken Puffs are the BEST!!! Pad Thai is awesome as well! Love this place!!
Great takeout spot here in Allen. Yellow curry fried rice is a favorite for sure!
Ordered Pad Kee Maow with Tofu to-go for lunch, hours later got violent food poisoning the rest of the night into the morning. Eaten it before with no issue, but will never order anything from this restaurant again, worst night of my life.
Was in the neighborhood for something else. Searched for a Thai restaurant to feed four and found this place on Google and decided to try it. Food was tasty and what was impressive were two things. One the fried egg on top of the noodles and the price of around $50 with tax for four entrees which is hard to come by now-a-days although there is no-dine in.
I was really hoping to find some authentic Thai taste but it was quite disappointing. Had penang curry that was way too sweet. Tom yum was also on a sweeter end, had zero flavor of lemongrass or kefir lime leaves which means it didn’t taste like Tom yum at all. Papaya salad wasn’t as fishy as it should be but it satisfied the cravings. My kid loved the kids meal. Two stars for having legit choices for kids meals.
This place is amazing! We have been customers for years and order frequently. This is my go to comfort food, it never misses. We especially love the pad kee mao, the curries, the fried rice, and the spring rolls! The food is always hot, fresh, and very tasty. Highly recommend! My favorite restaurant ever!
Was the best Thai we have had in a while. Pad Woon Sen slightly sweet and super yummy. I couldnt stop eating. Red curry fantastic! Best of all was the cream cheese wontons: quite possibly the best I have had. Just so much flavor. Usually they are so-so but here they are amazing.
Amazing! Nothing beats it
Honestly, I’ve been coming here since before Covid. This is by far one of the best restaurants in Allen. Not only is it a killer deal for what you get, the quality is always fantastic. I can’t get enough of this place. It’s family owned, so they have some strange hours sometimes, but the food is so so so good. I cannot recommend this place enough
Come on guys, I picked up my order and when I got home , What a surprise, the noodles plates where almost empty, it looks like they split one in two, come one guys don’t do this to customers….
Love their authentic Thai menu. Ask for it, you will not regret ordering their Kangsom and kangpa.
I didn’t read the description very well, missed the part where it said no dine in. But holy cow. Great take out. I just got back from Thailand and was looking for something authentic. This is it.
Ask about “Mom’s secret menu” if you want the real stuff.
I’ll definitely be back.

Can’t dine in anymore however, hands-down no Thai food has ever come close, except for one place in Dallas everything on the menu top-notch!
My go to place for Thai in Allen. Always ready when I arrive for pickup. Can't eat inside they look like it's week 2 of COVID in there. Everyone wearing masks , tables piled up. Yeah, no atmosphere. Good food!
Don’t know about the atmosphere as I always pick up. Great food, good prices.
I go here at least once a week. They know me and my order, I order the same thing every time Pad Kee Mow (Drunken Noodles) I absolutely love it. I do live in McKinney and have a good Thai restaurant near me, but this one is worth the drive for me. Family has ordered Pad See Ew which was equally delicious. 10/19/23 still true. One year, weekly customer.
Spice Thai Cafe is To-Go only! No indoor seating available and it doesn’t say that on their website or on Google. I was looking forward to trying it but didn’t want it to go. Hopefully that changes quickly. My 2 stars doesn’t reflect the food as I didn’t try it but the atmosphere.
只有外卖,但食物还不错
Best Thai food in the area! Reasonably priced with large portions of curries. The roasted duck curry is our favorite!
There is zero atmosphere, but it's pick-up only so doesn't matter what the atmosphere is. Preparation is slow but the food is always good. We love their Pad Thai, their Tom Kha, their Spicy Green Bean Chicken, and their Panang and Red Curry Chicken. It's hard for us to order less than $80 to $100 worth of food. We like to order a variety and have our own Thai buffet at home. The left overs always get eaten! The dumplings, steamed, are also amazing. Bottom line, great food. Parking stinks. If you can bring two people so someone can circle while you run in.
Fast friendly service, huge portions and awesome yummy tasty food every time we order !! Highly recommend the F7 Spicy Thai Garlic fried rice with chicken & shrimp AND the Thai tea 🥰
Best Thai food in the Allen, McKinney area! Consistent quality, very quick service, and offers many vegetarian options, so my go-to place - when they are open. They have been following a somewhat unusual schedule due to worker shortage issues, but are getting better now. Also, they do not offer a dine-in option anymore, but takeout is quick.
Chicken nuggets so good
My favorite Thai restaurant in Allen! Everything feels homemade and tastes delicious every single time.
Been going to this place for years, always great food. Prices have gone up twice in the last year, but to be honest they were cheap for the longest time when others were raising.
Food is always amazing!! Freshly made and fast service.
Something seems to have changed here. The food was always good. But today we ordered 2 dishes and it wad bad. Pad thai did not even have salt in it :(
Good food, but place is only take out
Pad kee maow, chicken was over cooked and overall flavor was very bland. Ordered Thai hot spicy and got some sort of medium.
Food might've been good. However, I don't live close by and it's only takeout. No dine in. In my opinion, quite silly since every other Thai food place I have been to recently especially in the Dallas area you are able to dine in. ...
Second time ordering from this place. First time was good, but this time the food was below average.
Some of the best tasting and best priced food in Allen. Staff is always friendly and fast. Only downside is no dining in at the moment.
Love the pineapple fried rice with chicken
Ordered delivery. Requested one meal mild and one medium on their spiciness scale.
The med was good, but the mild way too spicy for that diner. She couldn't finish it. Aside from the slightly high spice levels, the flavors were a bit flat.
The food was fresh and cooked well, but because there was more heat than flavor, we likely won't be back.
Food is soooooo good
La comida muy buena y las personas que atienden son muy amables
Takeout only .
Disappointed that they still wear masks and don't allow dine-in.
The tom yum was okay, but the shrimp were cooked on too high of heat and had seized.
Also had shrimp pad see eew and it was terrible. The shrimp were again seized, the eggs were scorched, and the blackened egg had made the noodles an unpleasant greyish look.
The entire dish looked dull and colorless and tasted a bit like the burnt crust off a barbeque grill.
If I'd been able to dine in I could have asked for a new dish or refund. But with it being my lunch hour, that's a $22 lesson not to go back.
Best Thai in Allen IMO ;)
We love the Basil fried rice
Everything I’ve ever ordered from here has been spectacular.
Best Thai food in Allen very fast service and friendly staff. I’m just order the green curry seafood and Padthai ck for dinner and chicken stay with sticky rice for my kid that love it. Yummmy
Very fresh and tasty, we love ❤️ it. My husband Jessie said he could eat there every day.
My mom is from Thailand and when she leaves to go to Thailand for a few months or she just doesn't feel like cooking this is my favorite spot to go! Delicious Thai food!!
One of my favs! Panang curry is great!
Ordered the Combination Pad Kee Mow and only had 3 small shrimp. Totally unacceptable especially with their recent price increases. Sad part is I’ve ordered in the past and had more shrimp.
Very good Thai food. Highly recommended! The red curry soup is outstanding. Make sure you get it spicy. It’s the best. Pad Kee Maow with pork is so good. It’s even good the day after (left overs).
My absolute favorite Thai place! Pad see eew forever! Just be sure it's spicy as you like. I'm v disappointed when they make it not spicy. The Thai tea is great too!
Great curry!
Ordered for the first time and it was amazing….haven’t had good Thai food in several years after moving here..my new and to be frequent go to❣️
Out of the many different Thai places I've tried this is by far the best!
I love the food and the quick take out service. I get the Thai garlic fried rice and Thai tea. You can call or order online.
This place is amazing! Wonderful food. Great service as well, there was a miscommunication of one of our dishes we ordered and they helped no problem!
Had this three times now and the food is delicious and always ready on time. Thanks for a great experience whenever I come into town!
Not sure how to explain them, even when they took vegetarian order there was a piece of meat in my order. Better we need to show what is veg and what is non-veg.
Very disappointing
I had the garlic fried rice and it was spectacular. I often get it at Chiangmai Thai Kitchen in Tyler and while theirs is very good, this is better. Generous portions.
Been going here for years and everytime their food is amazing. Even after covid, the quality and quantity of the food did not change. The service is fast and friendly as well. You can never go wrong ordering food from here! This is mine and my family’s favorite Thai place
Get the Thai Menu. It is by far the best all around Thai restaurant in the DFW metroplex. Every dish I have had from the Thai menu has been excellent.
The restaurant is delivery service and to-go only with no plans of changing.
The Thai menu has new additions (Gaeng Som - Southern Thai Sour Curry, Gra Pow Kreung Nai Gai - Ground Chicken with Ground Livers and Gizzards stir fried with Basil) and all of the same favorites (Pla Goong - Shrimp Salad, Gra Pow Moo Krob - Fried Pork Belly stir fried with Green Beans and Basil)
I really wanted to like this place because my family loves Thai, but we didn't. All the dishes purchased came out bland. There was very little flavor. Mongolian beef, Ground chicken basil and Pineapple Fried rice were some of the items purchased. No spice, no flavor. Because we ordered over a certain $ amount, we did receive a free order of egg rolls. Each main dish had the option of white or fried rice. The fried rice was just egg and rice, no vegetables. Again, there was just no taste.
Superior Thai food. I had the crying tiger, drunken noodle, and garlic fried rice. Without a doubt this place serves the best to-go Thai food. I've eaten at 30 locations and they are universally generic and cater to western palettes. This place actually tastes different- more pungent, flavorful and texturally consistent. I will repeat!!
Good Thai food& price. for Texas, still can't find a authentic thai restaurant, but so far this will do.

Great thai food! a lovely takeout place!
Go to Thai restaurant for my family. Always delicious and consistent. Comes with a free order of spring rolls and just a great experience.
Supported this location through the pandemic and they only do take out now.
Great quality and the prices were actually really low compared to others around town. Will be back for more!
Good
We got Christmas eve dinner here! First time trying this place. Great service, really nice, and so grateful they were open today. We got a bunch of different dishes and it was some of of the best Thai we both had ever had. Tasted like someone's home cooking! Fresh, funky, spicy, sour, sweet NO slacking on the beautiful authentic flavors anywhere. I'm still riding the spice high as we speak. Can't wait to come back for more. Highly recommend you give it a try!
We order often from Spice Thai .. what we like about spice thai cafe is not only the quality of the food good but also portion size.
Very best food
Amazing thai at great price! Must try for thai food lovers.
Terrible customer service. Waiters are rude, cut throat, and they will not service you 30 minutes before they close. They gave good food but they need to up their service. So sad!
Best Thai north of Dallas
My favorite place to get cream cheese wontons, pad Thai, and duck basil.
This place is seriously awesome! I cook a lot of Asian cuisine, including Thai green curry, and this is one of the few places I trust to make it better. 😉
I have a decent spice tolerance and the medium has got a good kick to it - perfectly on the threshold of what I find enjoyable. I'd recommend you err on the side of caution and get mild if you're not confident in your ability to take the heat. Of course, if you want it really spicy, you can get the next level.
I really enjoy the noodles, as well - pad Thai and pad see ew are the go-to for us and a great choice when we have pickier eaters around. Also, the spring rolls are addicting and that sauce is 10/10. Overall, I've enjoyed everything I've had here and highly recommend it!
This is my go to Thai food choice in Allen - amazing
This is my all time favourite Thai place. I’ve tried to like others but none of them can compete. I highly recommend their chicken pad Thai, as well as their fried Tofu. Other places that have fried tofu I’ve tried are always bland tasting with no texture whatsoever. Spice Thai’s cafe? *chefs kiss*
I’d also like to add that they always give me the spice level (5) that I ask for while everywhere else I’ve been doesn’t
From Customer Service, Food, Speed, Cost & anything else you can imagine - this place is getting it all Right! Lucky us to have a awesome place like this in our community!
It's good!
Dishes were reasonably priced. We ordered a curry and a noodles dish to go (place still closed to dine in). Both were really salty.
I ordered the beef pad Thai 2 spice, the noodles were really good. The meat was not beef it was chicken and it was hard. Like eating jerky. I also got the yellow curry. The curry itself was really good but the rice also hard undercooked. I’ll try this place one more time.
Found this place online while waiting for my father to come out of the Dr.'s office down the street. The reviews were high so I thought I give it a try...I was not disappointed! I orderd the shrimp and they were large, crispy, juicy pieces. The portions were generous...I'll be back.
I was really sad to leave my favorite Thai place behind when I moved from Plano to Allen, but I am so glad I found Spice Thai Cafe!! I order from them at least once/week and it is consistently delicious!! And their free springrolls with a $25 order is a huge perk! They only thing I wish is that they would identify pick up orders by name rather than phone number to make it feel a little more personalized.
I’m in love with this place.
Amazing. Good portion sizes. Great flavor. I love the green curry
I was very impressed with the curry here. I got yellow curry with rice and the curry came in a huge container. I ate it for 2 meals and it was 11 dollars for the meal. It was ready when i got there to pick it up and everything was hot.
Our go-to Thai food in Dallas! Excellence in every dish we have tried.
Yellow curry chicken my favorite
Awesome food and employees. Our go-to for thai food.
Very good food and service too
Good vegan options and easy to order online. Curries are delicious! Plus free spring rolls with orders over $20, always appreciated! My picky parents enjoy it too.
Food is extremely delicious!
1st time eating here. The best panang curry I have ever had!!! They put all kinds of veggies. I have tried many great Thai restaurants in California. This panang is out of this world. Thank you I will only order from spice Thai Cafe now that I'm live in texas.
Good food, but not too spacey
Food tastes better& fresher than ever!
For nine bucks you can get a Pad Thai lunch that's enough for lunch the next day too.
Good quality and flavor for a nice Price. Fresh tasting. We love their flat noodle dishes.
They put a horrible message on my receipt stating that I was trying to get free food because they messed up the order. Don't patronize.
Excellent food. The duck curry sauce is amazing
A friend of mine suggested this place to me. This is one of the good Thai food I’ve had. Although they messed up my starters, but I didn’t go back since it was super cold out :D gave us free spring rolls. Had I known earlier, I wouldn’t have ordered another one. Ended up with 8 rolls for 2 people :/ their green and red curry is very good. Could have done with more spice level for a medium spice.
Just ordered, TomYum Soup taste exactly like a BBQ SAUCE! I’ve never had Thai food with this kind of flavor, I’m really disappointed. The papaya salad was good but they ignored my level of spice requested. Green curry chicken was also good. The bbq/Smokey flavor of the Tom Yum soup is unforgivable, they also used white button mushrooms.
Gahhhhh, can't get enough of this food. For the record, I grew up eating Thai food. My parents love it (introduced me to it) and this place is where all the Thai people in the area go, even other Thai restaurant owners. IT'S LEGITTTT and completely family operated. And I've definitely run into many of them here! Hahaha! The place is small, so I wouldn't recommend it for big parties, perfect for 4 or less and even better for pickup.
My go-to dishes are (there may be menu changes for COVID/economic responses... i don't see some of these listed online - but doesn't mean they wont make it!):
Chinese broccoli with crispy pork (Chinese Thai style! It's the bombbbb)
Duck curry (on regular menu!)
Duck Kra Pow - duck version of an always good Thai dish (kra pow is a basil dish often made with chicken or pork)
Bla Pacha (a fried fish dish)
Homok (thick curry over a steamed fish)
Gang Som (sour soup with fried fish and a fluffy egg omelet)
The best Thai food I’ve tasted! And I’ve tried a LOT! My second time eating here and both times were the same. I’ve found a new place to eat Thai. A little bit out of the way distance wise but well worth it
Food always good here and got a nice surprise with free order of spring rolls!
Our go to week night Thai place. Love their Curries and sticky rice.
This is fantastic Thai food. Some of the best in the area.
We called to order and got curbside pickup within 15 minutes. Everything went very smoothly and it felt quite safe.
We ordered pineapple fried rice (medium), pad kee maow / drunken noodles (medium), and pepper garlic shrimp (mild). They were generous with giving extra spring rolls, which were delightfully crispy on the outside and were devoured within minutes.
The pineapple fried rice and pad kee maow were competitively priced as part of the lunch special, and the portions were decent. The pad kee maow was the crowd favorite, with supple, addictive noodles. The pineapple fried rice was delicious and had just the right amount of oil and sweetness. The medium spice level was great for us relatively spice-intolerant individuals.
However, the protein in general was not to the same standard. The pepper garlic shrimp dish could be improved. While the shrimp was tender, there were only 6 medium-sized pieces. The dish mostly consisted of sauce and veggies alongside plain white rice, and it was the most expensive dish. The chicken in the pineapple fried rice and the pork in the drunken noodles were dry, although flavorful.
Overall, we would come here again for the bargain prices, robust flavors, and kind service. However, we hope the meat is better next time.
15 mins quoted for takeout took 54 mins. Save your time, go elsewhere
We love this place! Never had a meal we didn't love. You have to try the Thai coffee, it's amazing. Would definitely recommend this place!
Authentic Thai food. Have Thai menu.
Wonderful food, the staff were so nice to us. They were kind enough to grab us some waters and a bowl for my friend's curry even though they are, at the moment, take out only.
Absolutely wonderful. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Everybody was polite and as we are outside because they are take out only during Covid they brought us water without asking. Nowhere near where I live but I'll have to come back anyway.
Good Mongo rice
Sooo good! Especially for the price!
FOOD POISONING - DONT GO
I ear Thai food regularly, 2 to 3 times a week. I like it spicy. I'm accustomed to it.
I've never been so sick from any meal as I became after eating here. . Days of violent illness from the food here.
Avoid it!
Great tasting food, with affordable prices. My regular spot!
This is the best thai food! This is our family's new go to place. Everything we've tried has been great. This is one place you can get "COVID" take out and it's just as fantastic when you get it to your kitchen table. (They are take out only currently, due to COVID.)
Good food and reasonably priced
First time ordering here after seeing great reviews. Everything was delish! I ordered the Mongolian beef which was not similar to past chinese places I have ordered it. This had a much thinner sauce but what an amazing flavor! I ordered it with medium heat but it was so mild but very fresh flavors and delicious! Also ordered the Panang curry in a mild heat but it was very, very spicy to the point my lips were tingling! Despite that it was phenomenal! Also ordered the chicken thai cafe chicken in a children's plate and it was so good even my very picky child loved it. Will definitely eat here again! Beware tho, parking is very tight.
Amazingly flavored food. Hidden gem
Made me wait indefinitely at their curb for over half hour with no delivery as promised. Called them once at the time they said the food will be ready, but I was told it will be another 10 more minutes. I waited for another half hour, but received no calls from them. Called them more than 10 times, they did not answer my call.
