We took the fam here because it was our 14 year olds birthday and she loves Thai food. She really really loved her Thai fried rice, but honestly I’ve had better yellow curry and pad Thai at basically every other Thai restaurant. The yellow curry was just meat and potatoes and the pad Thai kinda tasted like the sauce was ketchup based. The Chicken Satay was bomb though and the kids loved the spring rolls. Probably won’t eat here again, especially because it was $100 for the fam.

My son accidentally put creamer instead of sugar in his ice tea and the man acted angry with us, asked me to hand him the sugar tray so he wouldn’t do it again?!!! What?!! The food actually sucked, pad Thai had a red greasy sauce on it with thick cabbage sliced on top. If you’re gonna be rude your food should be good and if your food sucks you shouldn’t be rude. Surprised this place is still in business. Spent $65 of my hard earned money, on our way home my son said my McDonald’s egg McMuffin was better than that mom.

We've eaten here many times over the years. The food is authentic, affordable, and close to everything in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. We ate the Satay as an appetizer and enjoyed the Salmon Choo Chee Pla as a main course.

The service was friendly and you can tell they work very hard. However the ambience is not the best and the food was just so-so. Not as much flavor compared to other Thai restaurants. I'm glad I tried it but I would not go back.

Amazing food! Some of the best Thai food I’ve ever had. Don’t judge a book by its cover, stop in and find out! I got the yellow curry and green curry, wonton soup and chicken satay. It was all so flavorful! The green curry is a must try!! It’s the best.

The guy that works here was so mean. He got the order wrong and was super mean. Food was good.Disappointed on customer service and talked really loud and meanly to my little boy and my wife. Won’t go back.

Incredible Thai food in Lava Hot Springs! We went in to order takeout. The inside of the restaurant was almost spotless, we were super impressed with the cleanliness. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful and the food was amazing. Tried the green curry, wasn’t as spicy as expected but still delicious. Hoping to stop by again next time we’re around.

We unfortunately ate here on Sat 6/29/24, My Husband ordered Pad Thai, with Shrimp and med spice, came with no spice and shrimp was practically raw with parts of the shell left on. they left the peanuts off as well it was VERY BLAND he couldn't eat it.I ordered the chow mein it too was very bland I managed to eat a little more than he did but not much . The atmosphere was non existent, service wasn,t much better, we paid and left , Never Again.We went into town and ate

Were treated as an inconvenience the second we walked in. No smiley or friendly faces. I would not have minded it if they were busy at the time, but there was only another table with customers at that time. I was asked to move the stroller for our baby in such a tone to which I did not object and moved it immediately, but he kept babbling on how we had to move the stroller and how it would be in the way of other people trying to sit in the table behind us. Rude. Food was mediocre at best. Prices are high for such mediocre food. Ordered pad thai for to go for my husband waiting outside of the establishment with our dog, but when I asked about it, he said I did not order it instead of double checking the piece of paper that he wrote down our orders on. I usually love Thai food. Such a pity. 1 star for service. Although I would give 0 stars if I could. Yeah needless to say we will not be coming back.

We tried this place for the first time and loved it so much that we had to give it 5 stars!!! Immediately clean and such a nice atmosphere. The service was so friendly and amazing! The waiter always had a smile and was so genuine. The food came out quickly and was so delicious! It was my boyfriend's first time eating Thai food and he was won over and is trying to learn to make phad thai now. The portion sizes were also perfect; one serving of rice with yellow curry left me with 1 serving of leftover yellow curry. When I asked for a container for the curry, they gave me a new serving of rice in a box for free!! I

My family came in ahead of 3 large parties, and the only guy serving ignored us and served the 3 large parties. I finally asked him if we could order and he said, “no! What do you want?” Not impressed with that.

So nice to eat in a clean well kept restaurant with very friendly owner/chef. Smells divine when you walk in and the coconut chicken soup, cashew chicken and chicken lettuce rolls were absolutely wonderful! Thank you for a great meal!

We had a delicious dinner and quick service. Spring Rolls, vegetarian salad, cashew veggie Tofu and catfish dinner. Service was excellent too!

We went there for dinner, we were so hungry as soon as we got in the servicer/owner was saying sit wherever. The food was ok not fabulous either. But the service was horrible I have ever received, he was in a mood it seamed like we’re asking him for free food. Even though I and my husband showed him very nice manners.

I love Thai food and we don't often come across Thai food that's LACKING. Unfortunately this was just that. Unseasoned, lacking all the right Thai flavors that makes Thai food delicious. The chicken satay was super dry, tasted a day old. The pad thai had too much of the soybean oil, so much so that it tasted awfully spoiled. Curry without any seasonings. Our only hope was tremendous amounts of Sirarcha to get it down. That was sadly our experience.

Boyfriend just stopped by here to order food. They told him that they still had the Crab Pad Thai that used to be on the menu. When he got home, there was chicken not crab, and it tastes nothing like Pad Thai. When boyfriend called to correct the mistake is when they told him they no longer had the Crab Pad Thai. Should have let him know when he was there placing the order, not when he got home with an incorrect order. No idea what we actually got, but it's nasty tasting.

Good food Good Service Good Atmosphere for small town America Lava Hot Springs. Glad I ran across this place and I found it somewhat trying to be authentic. The food quality is the only thing that could have made the experience better. Had egg rolls hit black tea and sweet n sour chicken. Full and satisfying. Thank you.

Watch out for the hours on their Google listing; might want to call ahead before relying on a meal here. Food is decent; not memorable, except for the sticky rice which was awful. Disappointing overall but I’d try again based on other reviews.

Awesome service and the dressing for the salad was INCREDIBLE! I poured it over a side of rice. My family had wonderful pad thai & steak lao. We highly recommend!

So happy that this restaurant has reopened! The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and attentive. The decor was nice as well. A bit loud because of the conversations from other tables, but not really a problem.

We entered the restaurant when they were obviously experiencing an extremely busy period. We still made the decision to stay and accepted the long wait to place our order. It was a pleasant surprise that, after ordering, the food was served soon after. It was very good and I was especially happy to finally have some good pad thai. It is variable wherever we go. Even though water was very late to arrive, and my hubby's soft drink was missed, we considered this to be a minor issue considering that the staff were "slammed". Their coping ability was impressive. We would go back for sure.

Riverwalk Thai Food is a delightful, family owned restaurant that works really hard to make customers happy with fresh, tasty dishes. They are incredibly accommodating to dietary restrictions and it is my favorite place to go when we have celiacs (gluten free), vegetarians, vegans, and other dietary restrictions that are too complicated to list here. The owners work really hard to understand their customers needs and make their dishes work accordingly to the customers needs and preferences.

The family that owns this restaurant is also incredibly sweet. They work hard and well they can occasionally be understaffed, they will stay late trying to make sure that customers are taken care of. They are one of my favorite stops when I come to visit Lava and I highly recommend them.

Also, if you're not sure what to order don't be afraid to ask them for their recommendations. That they have never steered me wrong and they have branched me out into things I might never have tried on their menu. Some of those things are now my new favorites.

I ordered the Tam Kha Kai soup, sticky rice, and Thai iced tea to go. The food was amazing, better than I’ve had in NYC and San Francisco. Great service too… I will be back.

Was super excited to try it and I didn’t even get my order. Everyone else at my table did and when we brought it up I still didn’t get my food! The man was super rude the entire time we were there. Definitely try the Mexican place instead!

The guy at the front desk seemed so irritated that we wanted to eat at his restaurant….. he had us do everything including pour all the waters and pass them around…. And he acted so annoyed when taking our orders. He was just rude. However, the cook brought out some of the meals and he seemed nice enough….. won’t go back ever again though….

10/10 the employees are good hardworking people. They accepted my order shortly before close and delivered quality food quickly and efficiently. If I come this way again I will be eating here. I got the pad Thai with tofu and it was some of the better pad Thai I’ve had. Outstanding location too. About 4 feet away from a beautiful river, and not to mention there’s a ice cream shop right behind the restaurant.

Upon arriving the place wasn’t very crowded. We sat at our table and the table had food from past customers and hadn’t been cleaned. Kinda gross, but it wasn’t the end of the world. My husband got his food and I didn’t get mine for another 20 minutes and during that time my husbands food got a little cold. The place did get busy and crowded and there seemed to only be 2 people working which explains a lot. I just think it’s common courtesy to bring out a tables food at the same time. The food itself was really good!! I had Thai noodles and they were great!

This place is never opened, but when it is you get the worse service ever. We wait at the door to be seated for 10 minutes, owner didn't even look at us, when he finally came to us we asked how long until we would be served, he answered: "if you don't have time it is going to be a long way. Look at those people over there, they are waiting a long time to order" very rude, with at tone of voice that suggested he was very annoyed with us. Rude! Don't want my business? I will take it somewhere else.

Lovely small family run place located right off the main road in a former gas station building. The decor is authentic, food is tasty, flavorful and of high quality. We had the spring rolls as appetizers and they were some of the best I've eaten. Strongly recommend to stop for lunch here if you are driving through the springs areas.

We like to eat here after soaking at Lava Hot Springs. It's a family owned business with good fresh food. They are often really busy. Don't give up if they don't answer the phone - they are concentrating on customers at the restaurant.

I've been going to Riverwalk Cafe for 25 years. And I have loved it every single one of those years.

Food was very good, and the atmosphere is great!

Great food but busy on weekends so expect slower service.

I have been eating at Riverwalk Thai for 10 years and I have enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. It's a place I enjoy visiting when I come to Lava Hot Springs... and I have brought many friends, family and international students to eat there over the years. However, this past Saturday the owner had an ugly emotional meltdown with my group of USU international students, and some members of my group left to eat elsewhere in town. Yes, it was the Fire and Ice Winter Festival in Lava last weekend and it was insanely crowded in the small town... and it must have been very stressful to run the restaurant with lots of patrons and few staff in the kitchen. But... that does not excuse the owner's behavior when he treated his patrons rudely. I tried calling many times during the week ahead of our visit and I texted our plans of coming on Saturday for lunch, but I didn't get any response from the owner. I even left the hot springs ahead of our group to let the owner know that I would be bringing a group of 27 people to eat there for lunch. I tried everything that I could to be a good patron and friend of the restaurant, but it was hard to communicate with the owner because he was so stressed out! The owner regained his composure and we ended up staying to eat. My group of 19 were served and we enjoyed our meals and conversation. We managed to leave as a bus load of 20 boy scouts and their leaders arrived. Like I said... the Fire & Ice Festival in the small town of Lava was crazy... with way too many people descending on the town. I felt bad for the owner and his staff because he left a poor image of himself and his establishment. (I'm giving a one-star this time because of the negative meltdown of the owner. I hope he can work on his hospitality and I'll be happy to give him five-stars next time I come up to Lava.)

Best Thai I've had, they make the BEST sticky rice and sauce to dip it in. 🤤 Me and my fiance LOVE going here on our date nights and then finishing the night off soaking in the hot pools.

It's a fairly small sitting area, but don't be discouraged! The wait is well worth it 👍🏼! The food is both affordable and really good!! Wasn't spicy, as I thought Thai food was!!

The service was slow, the food mediocre. The staff was kind and took care with my allergy. I'm not sure I would eat here again, many of my noodles were not cooked all the way. There was no spice and the food was just kind of bland, I'm pretty sure they used lunch meat in the fried rice.

Out of the way at the end of town. When we showed we were the only ones there at lunch so we wondered how good it was. Food was tasty and a lot for the price. By the time we finished our meal the place was bustling with customers. Definitely worth a stop. They could use some fragrance enhancement though.

I've never in my life had someone be so rude to me. Literally annoyed I was there. Angry with me while I ordered and cut me off while I ordered for my kids. He didn't bring out two dishes and when I asked about them he acted horrible. I traveled to come here because years ago I had the best experience there. I will NEVER go back.

Great food but a horrible onery owner with no staff. Not surprising! Tried calling but it rang and rang then just hung up on. So I drove there and waited in line for 45 minutes to get the owner to take my take out order only to be told he wasn't doing take out orders. He needs a manager and he should go back to cooking.

I ordered the fried rice. It was good and I really enjoyed it. I don't know what was the deal with the waiter, or if he had things going on. He was almost uncomfortable communicating with me, even when I thanked him. I ordered togo in next visit just to avoid that awkward communication.

Picked up to-go food. Husband had PhaNaeng curry, I had Phad Pak. Curry was good, very flavorful. Unfortunately, my Phad Pak lost much of the sauce (leaked out of container) despite the fact that all we did was walk back to our hotel with it. What was left was lacking in flavor and extremely bland. Tofu was left raw, not seared or fried, and the entire dish lacked seasoning. Service was prompt and polite.

Stood in line for over 20 minutes to order takeout. Waitstaff ignored us, obviously understaffed. A friend of owner came in to pick up to go order - he received an exuberant welcome. We were still ignored and not even “be right with you”. We left without ordering feeling very insulted.

The food tastes ok, but it is 100% the least awesome/authentic Thai food I've ever eaten. Pretty sure they use straight up frozen bagged vegetables in their fried rice and curry dishes. Skip the chicken satay, that tasted like rubber. The Riverwalk salad was good, but everything else we ordered was pretty meh. Totally edible, but definitely nothing special.

Excellent chicken musaman curry, and the Jan Pu is a unique dish I haven't seen anywhere else. Really great!

I always LOVED this place. But just drove all the way from Prescott AZ on moto, looking forward to eating here the whole way and they were so rude when I was ordering that I didn't even stay and eat. I am so disappointed! I chose instead to spend my money where theres good kind people. Cheers all

Only one person on shift, who took our order and cooked our food. No indication of cleaning hands before switching roles. Had to hunt down my check. They were so understaffed they should have closed.

Waiter was extremely rude when we came in with my friends to kids, who are 4 and 5 and very well behaved. We sat down and he literally threw the menus at us. Slammed water, and water glasses on the table, and walked off. I have been a server for the last 6 years, and I look young, so sometimes I get treated with not the best service because they think I’m not going to tip, but this was because of the kids, who were very respectful the whole time. On top of that the food was VERY lackluster

the food is amazing but the staff is severely understaffed. there’s one man being the waiter and one person cooking all the food. we waited over an hour and had two people who came after us served before us. for a tourist spot they desperately need more people. the place was clean and modest and i just felt bad for the man taking everyone’s orders and delivering the food.

From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt far from friendly. The waiter tried to get our attention from across the restaurant to show us the table to sit at. When he took our order, it felt incredibly impersonal and short handed, so much to the point that it was uncomfortable. On top of all this, the food was mediocre at best. I don’t know if the waiter was just having a bad day, but regardless, we will be taking our business elsewhere in the future.

Constantly great good! You can count on full flavor with each dish served! This place CAN get busy! So think about and prepare to dine at very popular time slots. AND if they are slamed .... help bus a table. You and they will be thankful!

Always delicious food!! We love to visit every time we are in town. Our trip is not complete without some red and yellow curry, beef masaman and chicken lettuce wraps!! I have never ordered anything that wasn’t delicious from here! We actually had this twice in the 3 days we visited last time haha!

A treasure of a place to eat.

Great food and well priced, but don't be in a hurry. They were understaffed on a Saturday night. It was a full house with only two in the kitchen and one server running the show. Our takeout order was going to be "35 minutes" and it was about double that time. To be fair it was a big order with about 7 entrees.

Been to this place several times. This time changed my opinion on it. Food tasted off and nervous of food poisoning. Service was absolute garbage. Couldn't get one word off to the server before he'd rush away and cut you off the middle of a sentence. Several other people were struggling with the same issue. Would not recommend it anymore.

Tasty as always! We arrived at 4ish and were able to get a table right away. All 3 meals were to our table quickly and were hot and yummy.
Most tables were full when we left.

RiverwalkThia is worth the drive....from Utah. We always over order so we can take home the leftovers. Really, it's that good.

Been coming here for a decade. The food is always amazing. I recommend anything with chicken, particularly the Satay, Tom Ka soup and sweet and sour dish. The Massauman curry is my go-to comfort flavortown. Dining room is casual and authentic. I love the cool history surrounding about the place. I will always return here.

My family drives to Lava Hot Springs from our home in Utah at least yearly and every time we go we make sure to eat here. I have had nothing but delicious, positive experiences at this unassuming gem.
