Vast menu of authentic Thai noodles, curries & meat dishes spiced to order in low-key environs.
Hello,
I’m visiting family here in Syracuse and decided to try out some Thai food from this restaurant. I ordered the Thai spring rolls and Shrimp Pad Thai. The spring rolls were decent. It came with a vinegar/sugar/water dipping sauce. It was different but good. I still requested peanut sauce and the combination of the sauces was good! Now for the pad Thai…it wasn’t very good. It was really sweet, goopy and only 6 shrimp in the entire dish. I had to add extra lemon to cut the sweetness of the sauce and it was still too sweet. I’ve been to Thailand and ate pad Thai there and it still wasn’t as sweet! The customer service was blah. Soon as I entered the restaurant to pick up my order, the one server was kinda surly and told me to “go over there” to pick up my order. I was tempted to just leave based on her attitude alone. While, I get it’s 45 minutes before closing, but between the service and the food, I definitely do not recommend this Thai restaurant…
Super kind staff, with very quick results. Had our food ready to pickup in less time quoted. Fresh and healthy sized servings. Sausage in the fried rice was out of this world. The Thai fried rice was one of the best I’ve ever had and I get TFR in every city and town I visit. Wife’s tofu curry was also full of flavor with the tofu being actually tasty!
Still a solid option for Thai cuisine. Food is consistently of good quality. Enjoyed red coconut curry. Atmosphere is on the level of a no-frills family owned restaurant.
I’ve been searching for a restaurant that is better than Erawan for Pad See Ew and have never found one. My family and I have been going here for 15+ years. This was my first introduction to thai food.
I have since moved out of the state and always make a point to stop by when I’m in town visiting.
Their pad see ew pork, pad woo Sen, and pad Thai, are classic (lol basic but incredible) staples that my family and I get every time.
A great ambiance with some of the best Thai food I’ve ever had. Perfect for a date night or just a nice dinner with friends. A must go to spot!
Been going here for years. I am a huge fan. My favorite restaurant in Syracuse overall. Food is authentic and fresh. The owners and servers treat you like family. I’ve had Thai many other places, in many other cities, and nothing compares to here. Such a nice place to go to for a peaceful dining experience. Picture I added is of my Shrimp Pad Thai I got as take out recently.
Overall very good. I just wish they'd take reservations. The food was excellent with one minor suggestion; the sauce for 123 on the menu was tasteless. I do greatly appreciate their knowledge of gluten free cooking.
Short version: With all the Thai food options in Syracuse, you should AVOID THIS ONE. Food was terribly cooked – we got food that was both over/undercooked. This was my first time here, and also the last.
Long version: I was very disappointed to say the least. I’m not sure how Erawan has anything more than 2 stars on Google, but definitely over-rated. Being dinner time on a Friday, we were expecting the food to be very well cooked, but it was the complete opposite. Not sure if they had new cooks or if this is the standard. In the appetizer platter, the tofu cubes were like croutons. I took a bite and didn’t know I was supposed to be eating tofu. It all turned to dust in my mouth. The fried spring rolls were drenched in oil. When you took a bite of them, oil just oozed all over. I forgot to take a picture of the Chicken Satay, but you can see it included in one of the other pictures. You can see how little that was cooked. Phad Thai had very little flavor and was NOT authentic. The pictures provided actually make it look better than it was. It tasted like one you’d make from a package in the Asian section of a supermarket. My wife got the Veggie Phad Thai, and the broccoli was close to raw. In Phad Thai, veggies like that should be steamed and nice and soft to bite into. To me the authentic Phad Thai is the darker brown because it caramelizes in the Wok. Maybe I’m just used to authentic Thai restaurants from NYC, but this was not it. Thai Flavor across the road is WAY better. Although they are pricey (not much more than Erawan though) the food is phenomenal, always hot and fresh, and wait times are less. I still have to try the other Thai restaurants in Downtown area. Will post when I do :)

Good but not very authentic

I had an appointment at SOS so my friend has talked about Erawan for years. So we went there and it was delicious! She had Shirmp Pad Thai and I had Chicken Pad Thai. No pictures but I'll try again. I'll go back again!!
Outstanding food. Can't go wrong
The food is amazing every visit, very affordable as well. If you like it hot and spicy, just ask and they will bring the heat.
Overall very good. I just wish they'd take reservations. The food was excellent with one minor suggestion; the sauce for 123 on the menu was tasteless. I do greatly appreciate their knowledge of gluten free cooking.
Nice service good stuff and food
Always very friendly staff, food is always to my liking. I have never had a bad experience dining in or with take out.

Best Thai food in CNY
Always my go to Thai restaurant when I’m visiting Syracuse, NY. My favorites are Pad Thai, Gai Pad Pak Lad Nan Satay, Goong Ham Pha, and Tom Yum Gai soup.
I had lunch here for the first time. My staple for Thai is Tom Kha Gai with steam rice, Fresh spring roll and crispy fried spring roll. All were very delicious. I’ll be back for lunch special or dinner.
I've been going there for years it always good

Lovely people, excellent food. A friend who eats like an 5 year old absolutely LOVES it here. Recommend everything.
I've been a customer of Erawan for more than two decades and, in my opinion, it is the best Thai food in Syracuse. Furthermore, the staff provides exemplary service and treats you like an old friend each and every time you visit.
The food was delicious, the portion size was big, the price was reasonable, and the staff was friendly. Would definitely recommend!
This is a great Thai restaurant. I go here a lot. I usually get a glass of wine and chicken with ginger, mushrooms and broccoli and an extra rice (#35). I share my meal with a friend and still take home leftovers. The chicken is tender and the vegetables are well cooked and the sauce brings it all together. The staff is very friendly and the service is usually quick
Food was great. Spicy and delicious.
My go to for quick Thai at lunch. Thai ice tea is perfectly balanced. Love the veggie and vegan options and they're willing to adjust most dishes. Go for Thai hot!
Erawan is amazing. The food is always perfect & the service is wonderful. If you’d never had their banana ice cream - do yourself a favor & thank me later. Tastes like banana bread & it’s my favorite.
By far the best restaurant in Syracuse. I could go here everyday!!
After 40ish years, the place is showing its age. Food is still good but less and less authentic. Lunch dishes are one big soupy mess. They don't even thicken the sauces anymore.I haven't been there for dinner in many years. There are better options now in the Syracuse area.
Overall, the food is pretty good restaurant Thai food, however, it isn't the ethereal delight it used to be. Pad Thai without egg and peanuts? Seriously?
My favorite Thai restaurant.
I came here with a friend for her birthday for dinner. She wasn't feeling great so we asked the waitress if we could order to go. She was very pleasant and said sure! I have eaten here before and liked it. This time I ordered the sweet & sour shrimp. I like what one reviewer said, that it would be a good idea to look at their menu before you go! There are so many options. I was a little disappointed with the meal as I thought the sauce was like soup and not thicker. Maybe there is a difference between Chinese and Thai food. It was probably healthier. I heard no complaints from my friend, so that's why I gave it a 4 star plus the service was very good.
Excellent Thai food, friendly staff.
The worst Thai food i've ever eaten. I love Thai food and have eaten at many Thai restaurants in different cities.
The appetizers, all the the fried food came out dark, almost black, looks over fried but it wasn't. The dark color shows that they didn't change the oil and it was overused. Ordered the duck curry. Curry was full of bamboo and almost nothing else. Sauce was runny, duck was not whole pieces of duck but slices of something. Didn't taste like duck. Next dish was a thick noodle dish, with beef, etc. Well the "noodle" dish had thick noodles but they were cut in to little squares. How is that a noodle dish when it's cut so short? Minced beef with frozen carrots, peas on some lettuce. That was the dish. How is that a Thai dish? Tom yum soup. It was so sour, didn't even drink it.
Please. All the people that gave this place 5 stars should really get out more and try more Thai restaurants. I was duped by the high ratings for this place.
Great authentic Thai food. Their menu is HUGE! I suggest you have look at the menu online prior to going. You'll have a better idea of what you want. Each menu item is described in English, no confusion
I had a soup chicken and coconut milk just a touch of coriander and lemongrass. So yummy. My main was a shrimp meal with yellow curry and veggies. I ordered mild, which still has a little kick. It comes with white rice. Fluffy and hot. Ate maybe 1/3 and took the rest home for next day lunch
Portions are very generous. Our waitress was pleasant and friendly.
Ladies room was clean
Parking on the side and then more in the back. Perhaps more lighting could be used there at night
The best Thai place in Syracuse. I would recommend Tom yam soup - get medium spicy. Panang gai - medium spicy as well. If you like rice with vegetables, #27 with tomato sauce. #60 is really good. Spring and egg rolls are very good.
The best "drunken noodles" I have ever had in my entire life
Been going here for years.
Great Thai restaurant.
Food doesn't taste like Thai food at all!! Won't be coming back!
Small from inside with tables too close with each other, prices on high end and service not the best
excellent food. parking lot is very spacious with bright lighting and very safe. menu is very large and huge variety. i was with family and we had a large spread of dishes. green curry, yellow curry, shrimp, chicken, duck, pork, tofu, etc. every dish was excellent and my favorite is the green curry. our server was also very aware and wrote down that one of our party is vegetarian and made sure her dish was specially attended. MUST order the corn tapioca unless you have an allergy, aversion, PTSD, etc. I know, it sounds weird but the corn tapioca is a must try. ice cream seems to be genuine - real banana is in it and it was delicious! i didn't try the other flavors. they also have thai iced tea and thai coffee! very tasty! i eat spicy food and their hot is not very spicy. they probably have spicier for the more adventurous. i'll be eating here again numerous times. the physical space itself is on the smaller side. bathrooms are clean with cleaning buckets, plunger, chemicals, etc. toilet seats are round and small so, big boys will have a um, challenging ride.
I ate here last year during The Fair and it was the best Pad Tai ever. I ate here Sept29 23 and it was a very big disappointment!
Pad Tai was red in color and tasted like red curry after 3 bites decided it wasn't what I ordered. Erawan offered to make another dish but I'm too wise to do something silly like that, to give an offended cook the opportunity for something gross. It wasn't a spice thing either, I like a lot of heat. The server was able to get the owner/manager to refund 50%, normally no refunds. I didn't eat 50% so why only 50%. I tipped the server well because she will be putting up with a lot more upset customers due to a bad cook. Find another Thai restaurant to support.
The pad kra pow was excellent with both the chicken and the tofu. Our waiter was super nice and was really cool about answering questions we had about the menu. The lunch special was also an absolute deal for how much food we got.
Worst thai food I have ever had. Ordered thai food, expecting to get brown noodles with a umami and sweet flavor but instead I got thing spaghetti style noodles that were carrot orange color and extremely sweet. Not happy that I spent $15 on a terrible entree.
Always fresh and delicious. Great service whether dining in or getting takeout.
Great Thai food for a consistent winner of the "Best of Syracuse" award
Great comfort food at a great price!
Really delicious food, quick, inexpensive. Great fresh veggies. Even tried some Laotian specialties--the omelette is really killer. Well done Southeastern Asian flavors can be hard to find. Thank you for the great experience!
Excellent in every way, as always!
Very friendly & accommodating staff.
I don't know authentic Thai food, but I know what I like. Had the Pad Woon Sen and their appetizer sampler and it was all delicious.
Best Thai food in the 315.
We love Erawan. The food is always hot ,delicious and ready when promised. We mostly get takeout, but the restaurant itself is charming with beautiful elephant artwork. The staff is super friendly.
Excellent Thai food. Best in Central New York! Very reasonable prices, great staff. A must try for fans of Thai food.
Family favorite for over two decades; still the best, most authentic Thai cuisine in the Syracuse area!
At this point Erawan is my favorite restaurant in Syracuse. Love an excuse to order takeout from them. Have yet to try something I don't like!
My friend and I went on a very busy night so I don't fault the servers for being spread thin. The food was the best Thai I've ever had, and the portions are nice and large. (Ps. The pad thai is still great reheated the next day)
Excellent. One of the best Panang Curry I ever had, and I've had a bunch.
This is some of the best Thai food I have ever had. Not that I am some expert on Thai food, and I only ever get that Larb Nua and Pad Ki Mao. That wouldn't make me a subject matter expert in the least, but I know good food, and this place has it!
Coconut soup was amazing, prices reasonable. Good sized portions!
I have always had a very good experience here! Food is always fresh and flavorful along with being decent sized portions for the price. I don't think I have ever had a bad meal here and we order at least 3 to 4 times a month. They are also very accommodating and have a good attitude, there is a specific young guy that works there that is super nice and helpful everytime I order, and knows the menu and what he is talking about so that is refreshing to see! I say if you haven't tried their food it's a must to try and if you tried them only once and are on the fence, try them again because they are great in so many ways!
I've been ordering from Erawan for years. When I'm out of town, look forward to having it upon return. The food is outstanding, and the portions are large. My takeout order is always correct. The staff is friendly, and they accommodate you. It's a must if you enjoy Thai food! Thank you, Erawan!
So many amazing things to say about Erawan. Besides the friendly service, the food is outstanding. It's probably one of the most underpriced lunches in Syracuse as well. You can sit down for lunch order and be finished up in well under an hour. These are seriously the best egg rolls in all of Syracuse
I've never had a bad meal here. It is consistently delicious! When we eat at the restaurant, the atmosphere is inviting and when we pick up a to go order, it is fresh and hot. The server we've had the last few times is extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. She even took the time to interact with our busy toddler (who loved the attention!). I've been coming here for several years with my family and we will continue to come back as long as the food and service continue to be this good!
I love their food! But the appetizer size for the price is not worth it though. But will definitely be back to try other dishes
Great food and service!!
I drank their Thai iced tea in 3 seconds. This place is deliciously authentic!!
The pad thai, prig pow, fresh veggie spring rolls and mango sticky rice are SO GOOD. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. I have been coming here for 15+ years.
This was the WORST pad tai I’ve ever had!!! It was so bland and watery and was no noodles. I’ll never go there again!
This is a very good Thai restaurant. I was visiting from out of town and was unfamiliar with the menu. The staff were very helpful in helping me find what I wanted. The egg rolls and Yellow Curry with chicken were excellent.
The #8 rolls are great. The spicy soup excellent. With that said I struggle finding dishes that really appeal to me. Most of the family loves the dishes so this is more my issue....
A word of caution is in order, they DO NOT have a kid's menu. In my opinion some simple offerings, like chicken tenders or other would REALLY help if people bring young children.
Great service

Great food at a good price. Portions are large. Try the Panang Gai. Pad Thai is also great there. Egg rolls are the best I've had. I've been going here for years and have never been disappointed.
Our favorite go to for Thai food - Gaeng Gai. Absolute fave - and those egg rolls! Fantastic service - always.
Meh. Decent, but waaay overrated Thai. Dishes tend to be too sweet for my liking. Found a nice crispy insect friend in my dish, which I was surprisingly okay with. Owners were apologetic enough, but not so much to comp me for it. Whatever.
I spent a month in Thailand once and I saw a street vendor making this dish that had some kind of meat (turned out to be chicken, but in Southeast Asia you never know) and cashews. It looked delicious so I ordered one. It was even more delicious than it looked. It was also so hot that by the time I got half way through the plate, it felt like I was chewing glass because my mouth was on fire. I couldn't stop eating though, because it was just too good. I'd been in search of Thai cashew chicken of that quality ever since and had all but given up hope until I stopped at Erawan one day and saw it on the menu. #41, Gai Pad Ma Moung, is so ridiculously good, and the most authentic I've found anywhere I've looked on the east coast. The Thai spring rolls are so fresh and perfectly balanced. This is my favorite place to eat Thai outside of Thailand.
EDIT: to assuage fears of the spice sensitive, the benefit of ordering at Erawan vs in Thailand is that you get to choose your spice level when ordering. This dish will always have a little heat due to the nature of the base ingredients, but you can get it anywhere from medium buffalo level of heat, to a melt-your-face-off level of heat.
I lived in Buffalo in college and recently moved back to Syracuse. While there, I tried to find a restaurant to scratch the itch that erawan did, but couldn’t. Since being home, I’ve eaten here often and their food is as consistently excellent as when I was in highschool nearly a decade ago. Also I love all of the people who work there, they’re super nice and excellent at customer service!
Staff- always friendly
Food- always delicious
Staff was great and friendly as always, and the food was excellent.
Delicious!
I can't recommend this place more. They have the friendliest staff and excellent menu options.
I ordered takeout for my anniversary dinner on a Wednesday night and was told I could pick up in 45 minutes. I arrived 45 minutes later and the food was ready. When I got home (I live less than 10 min away) the food was completely cold and I had to microwave everything. I called the restaurant to let them know what happened and the person I spoke with told me it was impossible for my food to be cold. I have ordered from this restaurant a lot and it's usually pretty good, but I really don't appreciate being gaslit by the staff when I was calling to let them know of an issue. I probably won't be back since Thai Flavor always has a shorter wait and my food is always hot.
DO NOT EAT HERE! Saw roaches in the kitchen, hair in the food and slime in the ice machine.. I will be reporting thr to the county health authority.. Terrible food, terrible service...completely rude to me. If you like good Thai food, try Thai Flavor right down the way. Better service and fresher ingredients
Terrible food, terrible service, wouldn't feed my dog with that food and the staff was completely rude to my pregnant wife
One of my daughter's favorite places to eat. The food is good with many options, and staff is friendly and hospitable. Dining there feels quaint, down-to-earth, and homey, like you're eating with family. We'll be back in a few weeks for my daughter's 17th birthday, as that's where she has chosen to have her birthday dinner.
Always delicious.
Exquisite and authentic Thai food made by a family that takes great pride in their business. Well-chosen dishware and tea sets add to the ambiance and elegance of the dining experience, as does the simple but welcoming dining furniture near windows with lots of natural light. Worth a visit anytime you're in De Witt.
Have been eating here for 13+ years. Best around.
I've been going to Erawan for years and it's always been fantastic for both lunch and dinner. The red curry and pad prig pow are my go-to dishes and they'll make it plenty spicy if you request it that way. They're not super thick or overly sweet like curries can be at other Thai restaurants. The tom yum soup is also very bright and vibrantly flavored.
Both the egg rolls and spring rolls are delicious and the clear dipping sauce they give you is so good I always end up sipping the rest like a degenerate. The lunch deal is especially good because they give you a pretty filling portion and an egg/spring roll along with it.
Absolutely lovely staff. Good prices. Large menu with delicious food. I would definitely come back here. Most Thai restaurants don't have this much variety in their offerings so I was super excited to be able to get yellow curry here.
Good thai food. Reasonable price. A local favorite.
Pad Thai was not listed as being cooked in tomato sauce on the menu and tasted like ketchup. Menus are giant and plastic which was difficult to rustle through. Far too expensive for eating something that tasted like spaghetti. Have had curry here before and it was good, but this was extremely disappointing.
The pad thai was made with a tomato sauce that tasted like Heinz. Who makes pad Thai in tomato sauce? The menu didn’t mention this preparation. I ordered mine with beef, but there was little meat in the dish. I had the coconut soup for an appetizer, which I couldn’t finish because there was too much lime juice. Don’t think I’ll give it a second chance.
Only place to go for thai food. Loved it for over 15 years!!
Had a great work lunch here!
My lunch and the take out for dinner was delicious. This multi-generational business is awesome. To see Remi in the front of the house and his sister Vivienne in the kitchen brought back memories of their parents' Wilson and Dawn 28+ years ago. The food has been fabulous since the mid 90's. I love going back and seeing the family. It is always amazing.
I ordered chicken rice peanut sauce.....so i came all canned vegetables, no flavor, and peanut sauce poured on top like spaghettti sauce, couldnt eat it, and told them so, they would not remove it from the bill. Ridiculous and my friends meal was flavorless also
Best Thai food in the area, good prices.
Been going here for over 10 years. The food is authentic and delicious
Best thai place in syracuse
I love Erawan. I had the #18 soup, coconut, chicken and mushroom soup. I had the medium heat. not too hot , just right. Warm and satisfying. I had Pat Thai with veggies and Tofu. A great meal .
Amazing food! Very friendly staff. Me and my son love this place.
Love this place. Some might say the ambience is a little lacking but the food makes up for it!
Wow. Simply delicious. I absolutely enjoyed the hot-Nua Pad Kra Pow. My first time having a meal from here, the spicy beef stir-fry dish, left me with the intent of trying the entire menu!
Always excellent in every way 👌
Egg rolls (#8) are amazing.
It is the greatest Thai food in Syracuse! Everything is super fresh and moderately priced
Best place to get food. Amazing food for a great price. Get more for your money and it fills you up nice.
Don't let this unassuming Thai Restaurant fool you, the food is, and has been amazing for decades. The menu doesn't have the entree names translated to English, but don't let that stop you from trying their fantastic authentic Thai cuisine. One word of warning, Erawan only has three levels of spiciness; mild, medium, and hot. From my experience, hot = Thai Hot, so, it's not for the faint of heart.
I love their food. It is the first Thai food place I ever ate at. That was almost 20 years ago and I keep going back for more.
My favorite thai place ever!
5/5 needs more stink
stinky
Best thai in Syracuse
Always at the top of the Thai list. Classic, delicious, reliable.
Wonderful Thai Cuisine! Great service!
I was a bit surprised. Thought it would be better. Pad thai was missing key ingredients. Was hoping for better.
This place never disappoints!! We love it.
Egg rolls very greasy but great #49
Worst Pad Thai I have ever eaten in the U.S. Just don’t go!
I felt like it was a little past its prime. I had a spring roll which tasted good but was crudely constructed. We also had the pad thai and the #69 a mix of pineapple and pork. Both were average to good with the portion size being very large and easily 2 meals. I guess I was looking for slightly better food and smaller portions. I also didn't love that I was the only customer there at the time and the 5 closest parking spots were taken.
Absolutely love everything at Erawan. Best!!
Awesome food
Pad thai is not so good: sweet and different than any other that I've tried.
Nua Pad Khing very savory, great flavors!
Vegetarian Paw Peea Sod tastes so fresh, very interesting see-through wrap
Paw Peea Tod was just like any egg-roll,
So amazingly good! I recommend any varieties of the Pad Prig Pow. Also, their egg rolls are the best I've ever had. Extremely friendly staff. You'd be doing yourself and your friends and family a great service by choosing to eat here.
Great food and great staff!!
