Ling & Louie's Asian Bar and Grill is for people who want to have fun and enjoy a unique dining experience. Serving Modern Asian Cuisine with American Flair, our chefs use traditional Asian cooking techniques and ingredients in non-traditional ways to create bold, craveable flavors that appeal to all tastes. With an upbeat atmosphere, an innovative bar and friendly service, Ling & Louie's redefines what Asian restaurants are expected to be.
Great food, service and atmosphere. went with a rather large group, reservation highly recommended. Service started off slow but once we placed the order, things moved rather fast. They have a patio area that I would love to try during warmer weather. Parking seemed tight, maybe there is an overflow parking that i missed.
overall, good food and great variety.
Dropped in for a late dinner & was pleasantly surprised. We started with the Pineapple-Chili Shrimp, the coleslaw with pineapple was a nice addition. For the entrée we order Sea Bass and Mongolian Beef, both were delicious. The evening closed out with Raspberry Cheesecake and a flour less Chocolate Cake, like a rich chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream.
On 9/7/24, after a long day at Art in the Park, I treated Mechelle Wilson to dinner at Ling and Louie’s in Garden City, to celebrate her recent birthday. This location was originally a Chart House restaurant, followed by Joe’s Crab Shack.
I was impressed with the outcome of the $6 million remodel, which includes a stunning bridge over the Settler’s Canal to connect Ling & Louie’s to the parking lot of The Riverside Hotel.
Mechelle and I ordered two entrées, and a dessert. We ate family style. Here’s what we tried:
Ling’s Meatloaf - Szechuan-style vegetables and wasabi mashed potatoes, topped with red wine-mushroom gravy ($21)
Shanghai Shrimp + Scallops - with asparagus, red onions, red bell pepper and mushrooms, served sizzling in garlic-soy ($26)
Mechelle liked both entrées equally. I preferred the Shanghai Shrimp + Scallops, which I would go so far as to say is one of the best scallop dishes I’ve ever had. I would definitely order it again.
For dessert, we shared the Banana Caramel Spring Roll - serve with vanilla be ice cream, mascarpone cream, fresh berries, caramel, and raspberry sauce ($12)
We both loved the dessert, and would order it again. P.F. Chang’s has a similar dessert on their menu. I’ve had it. Ling & Louie’s version is superior.
In addition to a beautiful environment, and great food, the service was outstanding!
I have dined at the Meridian location twice. Both were 5-star experiences. The Boise Riverside location exceeded those in terms of building design, food, and service. Whichever location you choose, you are going to have a great experience!
Highly Recommended!!!
The food was delicious! This was the best salmon I’ve had. It was so buttery and the color was amazing! Not pictured is the nigiri that I scarfed down because it was so delicious before I remembered to take a picture. Sitting on the patio near the river was gorgeous and the staff was so nice! We will definitely be coming back.
We've eaten here twice and I honestly tried to like it. I didn't review the location after our first visit because I hoped I just needed to try something else off the menu.
- 🔻Everyone else had finished their entire meals by the time my wife's sushi roll came out.
- Food was not nearly what I expected... The shrimp appetizer we had on our second visit was the only reason I gave 3 food stars because it was really good, but everything else I've eaten here was seriously lacking.
- The location on the river and green belt is cool, but I probably had better meals back when it was Joe's Crab Shack.
- Staff was kind but slow and stingy on drink refills.
- Kids usually enjoy the kids meals.
Shaghi shrimp & scallops were delicious. Waitress friendly and helpful with spice level in the chosen dish. Perfect seating by the window along the greenbelt.
My husband and I enjoyed a beautiful lunch at Ling and Louie’s in Boise today. A bit pricy for lunch but worth every penny. The food (Orange Peel Chicken and Mongolian Beef) was delicious and the service was outstanding. Thank you for making this a hometown favorite!!
Great food & service!

overall, good food and great variety.
Four visits in one week, four!
Terrific food each time. Terrific service. Thank you very much.
Now 6 visits, great service & food.
Very happy.
Large selection of good food nice atmosphere and good service

The chicken and rice soup is absolutely delicious. Simple but full of flavor.
Excellent service great atmosphere!
Tyler was amazing!
The vibe is very cool but we were sat next to a huge birthday party, which is fun, but made it hard to talk at our table. We loved the sushi, mash potato's and firecracker chicken. The pot stickers were on point
Always enjoy this restaurant. It's got wonderful Americanized sushi, and fun Asian fusion dishes. Everything's always been full of flavor, and this is a regular haunt for me and those I work with for lunch. Great view on the patio!
Very good food and service, will be going back.
Everything was absolutely fantastic, but basically, $100 a lb for a fish dinner is one of those things that's for a very special occasion happening only once a year. That's the only reason I can't give 5 stars.
The fried rice and orange chicken was delicious! Great atmosphere, beautiful view of the greenbelt. Ayanna was super friendly and fun to talk with! The slide show dessert menu was adorable!
Clean, modern atmosphere.
Friendly, efficient staff. Great choices on both food and drink menus. Food prepared well and plated nicely. Dessert menu presentation was an unexpected joy.
My girlfriend and I came in from Oregon for a show and got dinner here, Jeri did an amazing job and made it such a special experience! Best service we’ve had in a long time!
Kelly was our server. She was awesome! The food was very good.
I say this as feedback for Ling and Louie’s to improve, and no I’m not a wanna be food critic like you see on some reviews - the food was a big disappointment. I had the sushi and my wife had pad Thai, and both meals were not very good. I was very surprised by the high rankings, which is why I chose it. Who knows, maybe it was an off night. The service was fantastic though, and the hostesses were very friendly.
My FAVORITE restaurant in Boise! Always incredible food and drinks, always great service with every server we've had, and my boyfriend and I have had zero complaints every time we've been (5+ times together, and I've been 10+ on my own).
Food is always delicious, especially for someone with Celiac, like myself. Basically the entire menu is gluten free! 🥳🙌🏼
I order Uber eats all the time too and the food is always great that way as well!
10 out of 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Great service. Food completely mediocre. Have no idea how this restaurant has a 4.5 google rating. I’d give it 3.5 max.
Great food, great service, but it was hard to converse because of the noise
I have been there several times, have always been pleased but this time the food was just so so, maybe they changed or got a new cook? Maybe next time it will be better.
Consistent, great food and service!
It was a Saturday night before Halloween, the restaurant was not busy, or the sushi bar.
We ordered a shrimp app, it was one of the last things to come out. Small portion of rice for main meal, with 4 pieces of steak, very bland. 2 sushi rools that looked like a kindergartener had rolled it, just slopped together. To top it off this was my birthday meal.
Our server, pappa smurff was the only good thing about my bday dinner.
Would not recommend this restaurant.
Great place to eat with reasonable pricing for the quality of food. Very friendly for families and amazing atmosphere. Our server Reagan was awesome! My wife posted pictures of the food and drinks.
Go enjoy your self it's a great place
Excellent food & atmosphere. Grant was our server and took great care of us. We will be back!
I hate to be negative but I had the Asian chopped salad and the dressing was so sweet it was almost inedible. It was like eating a salad dessert. The blackened tuna wasn't marinated adequately nor was it flavorful or even blackened. Super disappointed. Sugary savory food is not what I wanted. Personally, it was a waste of money. $30 for a salad and diet pepsi.
The best staff. Super attentive, caring and kind.
They gathered to sing my baby happy birthday and brought her dessert.
Great service!!! Thank you all so much.
This is a great place! Food, staff, atmosphere all were great. Fun menu with Asian American fares. I would recommend the Char Sui Bao Tacos!
Food was so good service is out of the world
This is my go-to for lunch Americanized Sushi.
Love the Bit O Mexico roll
Wow must have new owners ! The food good but every time I go they change menu ? Waiter worst ever . My group of 11 gave 100 dollar tip and I was ready to fight. Oh waiter showed up for that. May go back to Meridian but even with river never that location again !
We did NOT eat here. This is a bar review. If you are looking for a place with a great view and great drink options, this is the place. With the variety of specialty cocktails you will find one that stimulates your palate. Great service from the bar staff.
Every dish has a different flavor. So much flavor.
If you're in the area and have the time this is your stop for dinner, and Kriss is the server you want. Great food, top tier service.
Great food, great service and great atmosphere... one of our favorite restaurants in the Treasure Valley!!!
Went right off the greenbelt to Ling & Louie’s. Great atmosphere! The food was fantastic and so were the drinks. We got the double dragon sushi roll and orange chicken. Can’t wait to go back and try different orders.
The food was fabulous, the service attentive. The only drawback was the noise which, unfortunately, is very common in restaurants anymore. I think the high, open ceilings causes it to echo. It makes it hard for my hearing impaired mother to join the conversation at our table. It won't stop us from coming back, though.
Remodel is gorgeous. Food is delicious. Service is only so so. If you want excellent service, then you need to visit their Meridian location. They’ve raised their prices twice in the past two months. No more takeout for me. Too spendy for warmed over fried rice that’s not made fresh!
Attentive staff and beautiful view of the river. Great food, reasonable price $120 for 4 people. A little loud, but were sat near a large 🥳 🎉
Outstanding calamari, sushi, drinks, scallops, shrimp, and fish dinners! We had five different sushi rolls for three people and two meals and appetizers and drinks, outstanding food, and service. The atmosphere overlooking the river was great, but it is very loud loud and noisy in there! Hard to hear One another talk. Would definitely recommend this location. We also love the location in Meridian on Eagle Road.
Sushi’s a 2 star at best. Not as good as there other locations. Drinks were weak sauce
very yummy, Leslie was very nice.
Food was delicious, the scenery on the water was beautiful. The service was perfect! Was a wonderful evening!

Highly Recommended!!!
We spent the day on the Greenbelt riding our bikes and taking it all in. We decided to end with some sushi at King and Louie's Asian Bar and Grill. My husband was thrilled to see Kirin Ichiban on tap and I reveled in seeing a cocktail with lychee!! Pomp and Circumstance was the name of the drink and it was delicious! Our Kung Pao edamame were awesome! We chose the Dynamite Roll and Salmon Nigiri to share. So good!! 10/10 would recommend!!
Matt served us at the bar and it was by far the most welcoming and enjoyable experience we had in Boise. His food and drink recommendations were on point 👌 Thank you Matt!
Our waitress Kelly killed it tonight! She's a keeper!
First time there. Great atmosphere, not loud, amazing staff, and the food was top notch!
The food was extremely salty and tasted as if it came from a box. I see in responses to previous reviews that they claim sauces and such are made from scratch I doubt that we were looking forward to this place based on reviews maybe we hit it on a bad night
Josh was a great server! Super friendly and quick to help us. Food is 10/10
Jeri served us on the patio. It was our first time. She was very pleasant, kind, knowledgeable and efficient in service. Thank you for being so pleasant, Jeri!!
Great dinner and experience
The food was delicious! This was the best salmon I’ve had. It was so buttery and the color was amazing! Not pictured is the nigiri that I scarfed down because it was so delicious before I remembered to take a picture. Sitting on the patio near the river was gorgeous and the staff was so nice! Great place and location. Love outdoor seating, but also has a great indoor. They have happy hour food and drinks. Reasonably priced.
Reagan was fabulous. All smiles. Cheerful. Eager to please. I'm very impressed.
The place is beautiful! The food taste good and the service is top notch! Would definitely recommend it, if you are a food lover and looking for something good at Boise.
Katie was our server and she was amazing!
My family and I haven’t had that type of service in years so it was very welcomed. Katie definitely knew the menu not just when I had question but I also heard her at other tables and was very impressed with her knowledge of the menu. The appetizer, sushi, miso soup and from wok meals were delicious! I will definitely be back. Thanks again Katie!
Jeri was incredible. Above and beyond. Friendly, accommodating and made our time together that much more special.
It was so delicious.I would definitely go back again
Good service and a nice 2 for 1 happy hour on Wednesdays. The food is decent - I had sushi and it was ok, not amazing.
Unfortunately the place is absolutely freezing. They have the AC cranked up so much that even with a sweater on I was cold and my feet were numb. Our waiter said they get a lot of complaints about the temperature being too low.
I won’t go back until it’s winter and I can go in boots and a sweater.
Love the outside seating near the river, my first time here and found that the food was delicious, and the service was coutourious and knowledgeable, and if I needed an explanation on any item, I got answers that helped me make the best food choice for me.would recommend to everyone.
A top notch place for good food at an affordable price.
Great food and atmosphere!
Sonya was our waiter . She was amazing , great service . The food was delicious we specially loved the sharing tower. Will be coming back 🫶
Our first time at Ling and Louie’s! We sat outside and a great server, Mia, who gave us a great run down of the menu and was super attentive during our meal. We started with the yummy calamari appetizer and followed it with the seafood hot pot meal. So delicious. My taste buds were satisfied!
Had a late lunch/early dinner and it was really good.. we had lettuce wraps, wontons and I had orange chicken for my meal… it was the best orange chicken I’ve had in a long time… the staff was excellent as well!
Was disappointed in the portion size we got for the price. Over $50 for 2 small meals and a beer for lunch.
Kriss was my server, very attentive and easy going. I’ll definitely come back because of him!
Stopped here on our way back to Utah from Oregon. Our food was delicious, and our waitress Katie was very helpful and quick to serve us.
We really enjoyed taking a walk along the river after our meal.
Price is a little steep, but it's worth it given the quality of food and atmosphere. So not a very good place to eat at every day, but a great spot for a special occasion, or if ya just wanna treat yo' self.
Nice atmosphere and location, but the food sucked. The calamari was chalky, the shushi was roughly gas station quality, and was all around a let down.
Benz was an amazing wait person! He was so helpful and actual alerted me to something in the sauce I was allergic too! Ling and Louie’s is lucky to have him!
Kriss was awesome! Great service, great food, and his recommendation for the Jeremiah Johnson Blond was spot on. Ling and Louies has become our favorite happy hour.
La mesera estube un poco distraida.
Best restaurant in all of downtown Boise. Bloody Mary's are to die for.
After months of construction, they slapped paint and some Asian adjacent symbols on an old Chart House and called it a day. The food was equal to a mall food court. Super disappointed. The sushi wasn’t fresh at all. The shishitos were the best part but very heavily sauced. The patio would be lovely if the restaurant was something else.
Riverfront patio is amazing , inside looks like an old Denny's . Decor dated. Food has massive chain restaurant vibes unsure if that is the case or not but it tastes like it. Miso greens with Ahi was as described, sushi roll went mostly uneaten.
General Lings dish is My Favorite!!!! Love the Post Stickers..One of my FAVORITE places to eat.
The food was fantastic. We had a birthday party here, and everyone enjoyed their dinners. Service was slow and not very kind, but everything else was fabulous. It's a beautiful view of the Boise right from your table.
Kris’s (our waiter) was a gem……made our time here fabulous. Thank you Kris’s (with two ss’s). They got a winner with you. Food was great too!
Atmosphere was excellent! Kris our waiter provided great recommendations for happy hour drinks & food. Bloody Mary drink was really good & Heff beer on tap was great! Chicken Lettuce wraps are good appetizer & we shared Firecracker Chicken for dinner with a view of the River!
Josh was great!
A nice place, and the food was adequate, but nothing I'm in a rush to get more of. I thought it was expensive for what we got.
Always a great time, with a great crew and good food…And those specialty drinks !!! BOOM .. Kriss was great tonight in the bar area .. Top notch service. Thank you
Great food and nice menu
Our first time dining here and the food service and atmosphere were great! Kalynn was our server and she very pleasant and efficient.
Kelly was great!
Just had the best time at Ling and Louie's! We snagged a spot on the patio with a perfect view of the river and ducks drifting by. No wait at all in the early afternoon, and we hit Happy Hour—score!
I've been a fan of their Long Life Soup for years, and I'm so happy they make it just right here. Had a bit of a letdown at another location, but this place nails it every time. This was my second visit after a fun day of paddle boarding and bike riding, and it was just as awesome as the first.
The sliders were a hit—absolutely delicious! The wait staff had us laughing and were super prompt with everything. We were too stuffed to try dessert, but we'll definitely be back soon. Can't wait for our next visit!
The view, the food, the drinks, totally recommend. This restaurant is amazing but Mia makes the whole experience even better!
Nice river spot with courteous and quick wait staff. The food is 'meh'.
Jacob and Katie were great servers
I don’t have pictures with all the food that we ordered but they are really delicious!! Generous portion!!! Will definitely come back again.
We had Aaron as our server and he was so accommodating and friendly! Honestly, love the look of this place, the servers are very friendly and knowledgeable, and the food (while pricier $$$) is definitely worth it.
Food was phenomenal, atmosphere was delightful, and we thoroughly loved the cocktail and sushi selection. I wanted to make sure our server got the kudos he deserved- Aaron was very attentive, charismatic, and accommodating! Very helpful :) Thanks!
When this restaurant opened up, I was very excited to try it out and since the first time, have been back three times!! The view of the Boise River and Greenbelt sets the restaurant in such a picture perfect atmosphere! It’s truly wonderful! The food and service is outstanding and the desserts are to die for!! Have introduced this place to many friends and family and they can all say the same!! Definitely will be back again soon!!
Food was delicious and staff very hospitable and attentive. We sat outside by the river and it was a great place to enjoy time with family. All around perfect.
Does anyone go to Ling and Louie’s for the food? It’s what you expect in that it’s over sauced and poorly cooked. The only reason to go here is for the amazing patio views.
Great food and pricing and views of Idaho River!
Beautiful setting by the river. Food was great (highly recommend the chicken lettuce wraps). Maya was our server. So nice and accommodating.
Everything I have ever had here is different, but sooooo good. Staff is super helpful and attentive which is hard to find these days. Love the atmosphere. We were there while they were super busy and we felt like the only people there. We didn't have to shout and it seemed intimate enough. While there is noise from other patrons, the building seemed to muffle it which allowed us to hear each other..
Great location right on the river with outside seating. And the food is always excellent
Love the new riverside location.
Jacob did an amazing job. Took great care of us. We highly recommend him.
I have been to Ling & Louie before and have always had a good meal. The food was delicious and the location is really nice too - right on the river. A delicious meal and overlooking the river, it doesn't get much better than this. Oh our waitress Bob was the best.
Amazing location, consistently great food, the service is friendly and attentive, and management is wonderfully engaged and focused on creating great dining experiences for guests. One of our favorite spots!
Went here with my sweetheart 💕 💗 we absolutely loved it!!!! Sit by the window if you can for great views!!!
So glad to have a grand... good food... comfy bar... back in this beautiful spot. A regular for us for sushi.
Delicious!! I loved every minute of my time at Ling & Louie's! The server was awesome. The food was everything I had been craving and more! I can't wait to return!
Service was great, food was super flavorful except the fried rice which was bland. Meatloaf was good my grandmother had it, my Korean salmon was okay, my mom had no complaints about her seaweed salad and a regular lettuce salad, my dad felt like his pad Thai was a lot of mixed flavors which were kind of overwhelmingly strong. Overall it was mediocre. The service was excellent and the environment because of the outdoor patio was really great because it's got a great view of the Boise River and the greenbelt.
Always delicious try the dragon rolls and Boston rolls
We waited 50 minutes just to order, after arriving with a reservation. We arrived at 4:30, and our order wasn’t taken until 5:20. The waitress refused to give us Happy Hour prices on apps, even though we would have received them if they had taken our order in a reasonable time. The restaurant was less than half full. The food was fine, but not worth the wait.
Food was good. I tried the pad thai. Was fine.
Food was awful, tastes like it’s all frozen and then microwaved.
Sushi I had was just ok. Research menu before you go.
I ordered delivery....come.to find out its sitting at the restaurant. I had to drive down and get it. The Shanghai shrimp and scallops was excellent but the Vegas roll was terrible. Plus they apparently don't give Wasabi with that roll...ugh.
Awesome food and awesome staff!!!
Tasty exotic food and drinks
This is like a PF Changs on steroids. They have a sushi bar that provided and outstanding shrimp roll and the seafood curry was very well done. Location next to the river and bike path provided good views.
Great food. Love their sushi rolls and poke, eel, and king salmon sashimi. The location next to the Boise River and greenbelt is fantastic scenery.
We've eaten here twice and I honestly tried to like it. I didn't review the location after our first visit because I hoped I just needed to try something else off the menu.

Delicious Asian with a twist. Amazing Boise river views. Orange chicken wasn't as good as I had hoped
Wonderful place with nice views next to the river. Food and service are equally good. Spacious and definitely recommended for family and gatherings.
Outside seating along the Boise River and greenbelt. The wait was a little bit but well worth it. We had a wonderful waitress and the food was delicious. She made adjustments by request for some of the meals to satisfy their taste.
Had a wonderful dinner out on the deck. The building is beautiful.
The food was great but the view even better!
