Varied menu featuring noodle, curry, seafood & veggie offerings in a serene, plant-filled space.
I had a very positive experience here, the food was fresh and delicious and the staff were very friendly. My daughter had a few dietary restrictions but they were very accommodating. Definitely would come back here, an excellent place to eat after a long swim. We had the chicken friend rice with chili oil, the panang curry with a side of white rice, and the chicken satay. Overall due to the service and excellent quality of food 5 stars, would definitely come back.
Hey, listen up, Saeng's Thai Cuisine is the truth! The vibe in this place is straight-up authentic, the decor is on point, and the staff is next level. The waiter hooked me up, super friendly and knowledgeable. And the food? Fire, no lie. Flavors for days, hit me right in the soul. If you want a legit Thai experience, you gotta check out Saeng's. This place is the real deal.
I don’t think I have ever had a bad Thai meal, this is a first. We ordered the Pang Curry and a red curry with chicken and peppers. It was salty, had a watery consistency and tasted more like something you might get on an airplane. I would skip this restaurant. The staff is lovely, the atmosphere is great but the food truly disappoints.
I love Thai food, and this is the best Thai food I've ever had in Oahu! Everytime I go, I try different items on the menu! I love them all! My favorites are the Stuffed Chicken Wings (Must have), spring rolls, and of course... the Curries! If you love Thai Food, you will love this place!
Ordered takeout from Saeng's on the evening of Wednesday 11/11/2020. We ordered 4 appetizers and 4 entrees, and were told it'd be about 25 minutes for our food to be ready. After 20~ minutes we drove over; when we arrived, there was about 8 different parties already waiting for their food. We had to wait an additional 20 minutes, about 45 minutes total, for our food to actually be ready. Before Covid, we'd dine in/order out from time to time and never waited that long, so not sure what caused the hold up this evening.
Our order consisted of 2 Spring rolls, 2 Beef Sautee, 2 Shrimp Pad Thai, Pork Pad See Ew and a Chicken Curry. The sauce with the Beef Sautee is delicious but the beef itself was overcooked and dry. The spring rolls were okay, but overly oily. The Chicken Curry was good but nothing all too special. Luckily all our noodle dishes were very good. I always stick to the Pad Thai when I eat at Saeng's and I'm always happy with it. Our bill came up to $121. Their prices have definitely gone up over the years! The food is good, but the portion sizes and spotty quality don't justify the cost.
If you're craving Thai Food, Saeng's will satisfy, but it's expensive and depending on the day, quality can be really disappointing on some dishes.
At first, I was hesitant with only a 4.1 star rating, but we came here because everywhere else was closed. All I have to say is THIS PLACE IS AWESOME.
I am so disappointed by some of these ratings. The food was delicious and more than flavorful. The noodles and rice were cooked perfectly, not too soft or too hard. We ordered the yellow curry, panag curry, pad thai, drunken noodles, and spring rolls. It was all super tasty, and Susan, the waitress, was so nice and awesome!
I have lived in Hawai’i my whole life, and I will definitely be coming back. This is a family owned restraunt that makes all their foods and sauces from scratch. They deserve more business!

Amazing food for lunch would recommend
Bland, very small portions of food! Fried rice looks like leftover! I'm usually very lenient in rating but not for the amount I paid for this one.
Zero flavor, almost as if they ran out of spices.
Enjoyed the food

Very disappointing. Pad Thai Tofu: 5 small pieces of tofu, and there are hardly any vegetables in the dish. Most of the dish is noodles. The sauce is not tasty and did not remind me of Thai seasoning. The dish itself is very oily. Didn't finish it. Not worth $18 at all. We will not go back there.
Great service and great tasting food
Pineapple Shrimp curry with rice noodles was absolutely delicious! Beautifully decorated interior with a giant mural of the local marsh and birds. As well as the beautiful thai statues and motifs.

Every nice place. Good food
I’ve had Thai food multiple times and been to Thailand, and this place should be closed down…horrible food and service.
The atmosphere was clean, quiet and relaxing though slightly cluttered with decor/ stuff piled around, staff was polite. The waitress was thorough and available/attentive, The main reason I'm leaving a review is because I was really looking forward to authentic Thai while visiting HI and this food was super disappointing for price point. The rice was overcooked/gooey, the curries were super salty and not coconut milk based but rather a gravy similar in consistency and flavor to KFC, We ordered red curry, panang cashew chicken and pad thai and they all tasted about the same. No tamarind flavor on pad thai, rather a ketchup type flavor and where was the meat and veggies? Spring rolls were crispy but greasy indicating wrong oil temp with very little filling and all wrapper, I couldnt even figure out what was in them there was so little substance. Quality and price point dont match. I hope you step up your game so you can stick around.

Ordered $70 worth of take out tonight, and I can firmly say we will NEVER order food here again. Chicken Pad Thai: there were SIX (yes you read that right) small pieces of chicken in my Pad Thai, and it consisted of only noodles, those 6 pieces of chicken, a handful of crushed peanuts and some fresh cabbage. That's it. It had no flavor, no texture, no veggies. The Summer Rolls were 90% romaine lettuce. WHAT. I've never had such terrible and bland summer rolls before. They were disgusting and tasted somewhat soapy - we couldn't even finished them. The Pad Ka Pao had decent flavor, but was hardly enough food for one person (and they claim this is "Family Style" portions! The Pad Ka Pao barely filled one half of a take out box). The Mango Sticky rice also was good, but for nearly $14 we got less than a quarter cup of sweet sticky rice and half a mango. NOT WORTH IT. They weren't busy - there was hardly anyone in the restaurant when we picked up. There was no excuse for how bad and disappointing the food was. I hardly leave reviews, but I had to this time.
Our first and last time at this restaurant. We first ordered summer rolls, which was VERY different than the picture on the menu. It was tough outside, raw inside and the smallest I’ve ever seen. Than we ordered our entrees with tofu that was pretty much burned and the food had no flavor whatsoever. They also say it’s family size, but it came in a really small portion and we have to order rice separately which I’ve also never seen before. It usually comes with rice. We couldn’t finish the food and I left super frustrated. Got home and half an hour later everything went down the toilet because my body couldn’t handle all the grease. Just a terrible experience. And it is NOT cheap, so I was definitely disappointed and we DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!
My favorite thai restaurant with the best authentic flavors. I've lived here all my life and tried other thai places but I always come back to this thai place. Some of my favorites are the pad thai noodles, pineapple shrimp curry, Tom kha soup, and green papaya salad. Always hits the spot when I'm craving good thai food.
One of the most authentic Thai restaurants on Oahu. Family owned for 30+ years, an iconic restaurant in Kailua. Highly recommend ordering the Tom Yum Soup, Beef Laab, Cornish Hen, Green Curry, Panay Curry, House Special Fish, and the Pad See Ew. Mango sticky rice is also an excellent way to finish of the meal with dessert. Highly recommend if you are looking for a great family friendly place to eat in Kailua.
The food was meh. But they tried
We love Saeng's! It's our go to Thai food restaurant! (When we are not in Thailand LoL!) Great staff, service! Best Pad Thai on Oahu! Really love their sateh tofu, the peanut sauce 2 die for! Wonderful spring rolls, yum! They are one of the few places that serves delicious Mee Krob!! Recently we tried the Tod Mun Pla, fish patties, they were so good! Love their curries! & Evil Prince, Pad Ka Pao! U can't go wrong, go try them out!! Mahalo Saeng's for being a staple in our Kailua community!! KOP KHUN KA!!
Food very tasty but short on help. The food is worth the wait. Staff very pleasant.
good food, great atmosphere, and amazing service!
Exceptional service and amazing pad Thai!
Love Saeng's. We have been getting takeout from there for years and always find the food very good. Whether we dine in or do takeout, they are always friendly.
The food is so wicked good. The spice levels are set for Caucasians, so if you want real heat let them know. Really nice people. Very authentic.
The food was overpriced for the portion and the quality. The flavor was there, but the curry was the saltiest curry I ever tasted. In addition, this was the first time I ever ordered curry and it didn't come with steamed rice. I would say that is my own fault for not reading the menu, but still a surprise. I won't be back, there are better Thai places to eat in Oahu.
Not many Thai restaurants in Kailua & already pricey 6 years ago but good, so my lady friend & I wanted to go & try again. We noticed menu price went up by 5.00 more for every dish as we waited for 11am opening came & went. We actually waited 12 mins. & called from outside, knocked & nobody was inside with lights out! We left & went somewhere else. As we came back to check, we talked to another customer who said they never opened until 11:30am, but that's not what was posted on the internet & on the front door of establishment.
The spicy beef pad Thai was phenomenal
It wasn't great Thai food but the service and everything were fine.
This place never disappoints. I always feel welcome here and the staff seems to understand my questions about different options on the menu. Yes, sometimes I like to try something new. Not a problem here. I had a sweet and sour dish, chicken, and it was delicious. Pretty easy to get into with rarely align. If you're looking for a nice relaxed restaurant without the long way and attitude, this is the place for you!
Nice spot for tasty Thai in a happening area of Kailua, a lot of shops within short walking distance and a parking garage across the street. Very attentive service and great decor here, and I only have to nick them on stars for how slow the food was to come out of the kitchen. I ordered chicken laab with was very tasty. Also ordered stuffed chicken wings due to a good review on them. I personally did not like them and found them a strange addition to a Thai menu. Wife had yellow curry and that was also very good.
Party of 7 we were all satisfied with our experience. Great food, best Thai I've had, great service, great atmosphere
Delicious and authentic. You can request different spice/heat levels.
Arrived for dinner service. I waited a hour for my food. I saw other groups that came in after me getting their food. Asked the waiter what the timing was. He said should be out in 5 mins. He came back and said they lost the ticket and needed to get my order again. Left without getting anything to eat, what a waste of time.
Nice with good food. In store if it not being a busy time, we had to wait a while for our food. Other than being somewhat pricey for lunch, it was a nice experience.
Excelente comida
Had some very fresh and well prepared food. The service was great, too!
The food didn't last long at our table! I had the tofu masman (massaman) curry, my husband had the pad kee mao (drunken noodles), and our kids split a pork fried rice. All very ono! Sweet employees, too. We will be back, for sure!
Was craving for pad thai and decided to try this place. My husband and I ordered the spring roll, crab with cream cheese roll, chicken pad thai, and thai iced tea.
The thai ice tea was great. It reminded me of the thai ice teas back in nyc. The crab and cream cheese roll and spring roll were good too. However, I was disappointed by the chicken pad thai. It was so salty that I couldnt finish it and the chicken tasted not fresh.
Service was not the best. Our waitress with the glasses did not seem friendly. During the middle of the meal she asked us if we wanted to order more or want the check. Plus I reminded her I ordered a thai ice tea. By the time it came out, we were almost done with our meal.
Definitely will not come back here!
Great curries and noodle dishes
The food was pretty good but nothing too exceptional in my opinion. The portions aren't too big and the curries could do with a little more sauce. I'm not one to usually criticize waiters/waitresses but here it felt like we were being rushed out when the restaurant was more than half empty. There were several smaller mistakes like forgetting to return the payment card and to bring us some stuff out that overall made it slightly less pleasant. I know everyone has off-days which is why if you want Thai food in Kailua I would recommend, but I personally wouldn't go out of my way to return.
Not much for the money. Poor service. Dusappointed.
Got the Tom kha soup and it was great. Big enough for two people and very flavorful!
Loved it.
Tasty but ordered the spicy seafood combo and chose hot out of the spice choices. It was disappointingly mild...
Service was excellent food was not great.
Got some curry and it was absolutely delicious and came back for more. Fun interior design and well priced for the area.
Oh my gosh so good! Nice atmosphere, and even better food. I definitely recommend the curries, the chicken, the papaya salad, and the Tom Yum. The staff is also very friendly. When in Kailua, this is a must go to.
Traveled out to the Windward side for the night and received multiple recommendations for Saeng’s Thai Cuisine. We weren’t disappointed! We ordered Mai Tais and had multiple dishes including the Spring Rolls, Crispy Fish, Thai Ginger Tofu, Masman Curry, Drunken Noodles, and Garlic Chicken. For dessert, we ordered Mango Sticky Rice. Hands down the best meal we had on O’ahu. Great atmosphere, wonderful staff, and excellent chef!
Eric was really generous loved the place
Good food.
Good food. Has parking.
I can't even believe how great this place was! Our server Ashley was immediately attentive and recommended the ginger martini, which I didn't even get to drinking until after we already had our DELICIOUS spring rolls! The pad Thai was fantastic especially with the added chili sauce. My date had the crispy fried chicken curry which was totally different but still 100% complimentary to everything else. Great atmosphere, great staff, 100% recommend 👍👍
High-quality Thai cuisine at very good prices. Loved the summer rolls, Mai Tai, Thai iced tea, pad Thai and long-rice soup.
I called ahead to place our order. I was told our order would be ready in 45 mins. "Probably busy, must be good" is what I hoped. NOPE. Several people were waiting for their food when I arrived. One guy had waited over an hour. I had to wait 1.5 hours from the time I called. I'm not sure why it was so busy at this restaurant because the food was well below average. I ordered crispy chicken curry. The chicken tasted like it had been frozen too long and it was way over cooked. Rice was too dry and the curry was very runny and bland. For the amount of money we paid (nearly $70 for 2 people and they asked for a tip!), we will NOT be going back here again.
Good place
They are doing their best to keep up with demand. When the meal comes it is good!
We ordered take out last night; green chicken curry and Tom yum. It’s was very average and we wouldn’t order from here again. There are other Thai food options in Kailua and both are better. However, it does have the nicest interior decor for dining in.
It was ok Thai food. There are definitely better places to go in Oahu. If you aren’t looking for anything fancy this place is fine, but otherwise I would look elsewhere.
I usually enjoy the food from Saengs Thai restaurant, but this time the take out was not good at all. The Massaman curry dish usually has lots of different vegetables in it as well as the beef. But all this watery curry had in it was only beef and uncooked cut green beans.
The spring rolls were tough and cold. The chicken cashew basil dish was very uninviting and bland.
On the whole....very disappointing 😞 We won’t be ordering from Saeng’s again.
Fun service, tasty food!

I feel like this place quality of food gets worse every year customer service is good though.
My husband and I love this place. It is the most consistently good restaurant for Thai food on the Windward side. We have had the soups, appetizers, noodles and curries from here and all are delicious. They do get busy and can be a little slow for delivery but it’s worth the wait.
I'm celiac and this is my favourite place because they have so many delicious gluten free options! They also always label everything GF on the boxes and its super easy to make GF when ordering online. Highly recommend.
Delicious food made from scratch. In my opinion it's the Best Thai food on the island.
It's just ok. I got the Drunken Noodles, and my friend got pad Thai, and that was just ok. Serving sizes are on the smaller side for Thai food. The service was just ok as well.
We'll definitely try other places, because this place is just ok.
Amazing food. My favorite umps the Tum yum soup. But their specialty fried chicken is delicious too. Sorry, no photos - the food was too good.
Small portions, food was nothing special. Take out containers were each 3/4 full. Barely any meat in curry & you have to pay for rice...
Great comfort food
Go somewhere else ! Roast Duck Curry had litte -non- roasted meat plus curry was blend with no fresh ingredients plus no rice served with it .
Tom yum soup ... watered down with over cooked ingredients .
Won’t come back .Ever !
Taste wise, is okay. Little portions compared to other places.
NOT AMAZING. Average Thai food. Should have read the reviews before going here. The Summer Rolls were good and seemed fresh. Wife got the Pad Thai with shrimp and it was probably the worst PT I've ever had (and I've eaten it at probably 25+ different restaurants in my life, including in Thailand) -- it was super greasy and with a weird bland flavor, almost like they forgot half of the ingredients necessary to make an authentic PT. I got the Fried Chicken Red Curry which I have to admit was really good but also a bit too sweet. Overall I have to give this 3 stars since the PT was so bland... PT is supposed to be a go-to dish at Thai restaurants! Can't believe it was so bad here.
Over the past 20 years we have eaten dinner here several times. Sometimes the food and service is outstanding, other times it is terrible. Tonight: meh, not so great.
Very mediocre.
Our party of 4 came for lunch. Although it was not busy, service was slow. It was at least 15 minutes before someone came to take our order. Food was Ok. Prices seemed high for what we got.
The calamari is a must! The Tomka is delish.
Good food, but service was a bit slow.
Fresh food and fast service tonight
Authentic food and wonderful service.
Yum! Outstanding Thai food and gracious service.
Good food, drinks and service.
Really great service
Beautiful atmosphere
Food wasnt the greatest, it was good but it wasnt authentic
Nice quiet atmosphere and friendly service. We enjoyed the curry dish, but the ginger chicken was lacking flavor.
Good food. Not extraordinary but good. Service was reasonable. They can make dishes vegan which is a huge plus!
Monday Sushi is great! Kids like the avocado rolls.
Hands down best Thai spot
Good service. Food wasn't too great. Small portions also.
Outstanding family style Thai in the heart of Kailua. If you're looking for the best Thai on O'ahu, look no further. This. Is. The. Place.
Good quality Thai place. Will come back to explore the interesting menu.
Everything is so good here! The best sushi I have had in a long time. So fresh and huge portions too! Monday night is half price all sushi. Make sure to get there early since they only have a couple of gentlemen making sushi.
Spring rolls are also so good! Highly recommend this spot!
Delicious!
Friendly staff.
Hidden downtown sweet spot. Outstanding food and reasonable prices. Our best seafood lunch on Oahu vacation
Slow, I mean it, very slow service. Food was decent, small portions but still it was okay. I was more annoyed with the time of service when there were very few customers. Wish I read reviews before coming in because it shows that they have not improved their timely manner.
They took dang good care of us. Amazing ambiance, quiet and full of people who take pride in their work.
Would 10/10 recommend for lunch, dinner, weddings, graduations, baby showers, ect ect.
Good place with good food and reasonable price. There are better thai places in town but you won't be wronged by going here
The staff was very friendly, but just a bit slow (no major complaints). The food was fairly average with portions a bit on the smaller side. The cocktails weren't the strongest, and I didn't have any dessert. The restaurant itself was very nice and the owners did well on the interior decorations.
We were celebrating a friend's birthday it was the best meal I've ever eaten there !!we had roasted duck Curry, chicken mushroom eggplant bamboo Curry ,and the chicken cashew basil Curry ,with Jasmine rice they were delicious. For our pupu's we had the honey shrimp, spring rolls with the mint lettuce and cucumber it amazing and calamari we had no leftovers we ate it all😃 it was very nice and an enjoyable atmosphere and a great dinner for all!! the service was good😃
Best Thailand restaurant in town
Absolutely the best!
Place is not crowded 2 other tables here and the service is so SLOW. And the waiter has to be asked twice for just about everything
The food was good !
Food is always excellent and always worth the wait.
Always great food that is consistently predictable. With Monday half price sushi a win win situation.
It's good, not the best Thai, but good enough for us to go back. We have been unimpressed with the Thai food in general on Oahu.
The food was good as usual, this is one of our favorite places. On the other hand, the waitress (Natalie, according to the receipt) was awful tonight.
I will not waist my time with details.
Slowest service ever!
Nice atmosphere and delicious food!
ok... used to go alot more. Think they changed chefs or ownership a few years back. Not sure but food changed..not as good.
Excellent food, but small serving sizes, and they charge for white rice!
We went last night and they were super busy, but the food and service was excellent. The Tom Yum soup was perfect. I recommend this place and will be back.
They seemed always busy, every 15 mins, a group of people waiting at the door. We just got lucky last night, we got a table right away from someone who cancelled their reservation. We were happy to be well-accomadated for. Food was ok for the price. Their Tom Yum soup was the best in the menu we ordered along with our appetizers: Mint Cucumber Salad, Fried Rice, and Calamari. Individual orders of Spicy Mixed Seafood, Chicken Curry, and Cashew Nut Basil Chicken. Waiting time for our orders, averages 25-30, not bad.
Good food
Saeng's is a very nice place. Quiet atmosphere. Good for big parties. But it's not the most flavorful food. Thai food should be full of spice and taste, but it's all a little bland. If you're not really into spice it's pretty good.
음식이 좀 많이 짜네요 맛은 나쁘지않고 맛있는데 너무 짬.
사람이 없는데도 조리시간이 기네요
Exceptional. The cooks actually prepare the dish the way you requested.
Quality food at a decent price. The service can be a bit slow and uneven. Basically, bringing individual meals several minutes apart, leaving an uncomfortable feeling for those without food. The food is very authentic compared to other Thai restaurants in the area. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxing. It is obvious they take pride in the Thai tradition and the quality of food. It is worth a monthly stop. They also have take out.
I’ve been eating at saengs for years and have never had a bad experience. I’m not going to say what to eat because you should try what you’ll think you’ll like and you won’t be disappointed.
Really good Pho and Curry, beware the spice level because they will make it as spicy as you ask.
excellent food, fresh, good amounts of beef, lettuce, cheese, etc, they don't skimp on ingredients. You do have to pay for chips, but, they are fresh and warm.
Nice and friendly service. Spring rolls are fresh and delicious. Highly recommend!
Love dining in and take out from Saeng's. Best Pad Thai in Kailua.
Food was delicious.
Quiet intimate atmosphere. White table cloth. Interesting decor. Food very tasty. Servers , host, etc. very professional.
Dinner is great
Great food and friendly timely service beyond expectations
The pad thai is a bit non-traditional ("weird") but the pad see yu & the panang curry are spot on. Really nice.
Great food, great service, great experience. Half off sushi Mondays was awesome!
had the crispy calamari it was really tasty..
Food was decent but not worth the price The main entrees are about $15-20 dollars. The restaurant in Kaneohe called Chao Phya Thai is a much better option.
Love this place
Love this place love it going there tomorrow again
The sticky rice was so sticky!
