Our Thai menu is coupled with a full sushi bar, a varied wine list, and a knowledgeable and professional wait & bar staff, all of which work together to make your dining experience perfect!
I just had my first-ever experience with Thai cuisine at Surin of Thailand, and I must say, it was absolutely fabulous! From the moment I sat down, I was blown away by the warm, inviting atmosphere and the exceptional service.
The food was incredible—each dish bursting with rich, authentic flavors that made it hard to pick a favorite. The bartender deserves a special shoutout as well! The drinks were not only delicious but crafted with such care and creativity that they perfectly complemented the meal.
For a first-time Thai food experience, Surin of Thailand has set the bar incredibly high. I can’t wait to come back and explore even more of the menu. Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for great food, amazing drinks, and a memorable dining experience!
I had chicken, which was a dry inside and the sauce was too much of something.
My drink was amazing! I had a basil margarita. Enough alcohol in it.
Staff seemed to be in a hurry, which i kinda understand but they need additional staff. The two servers/cokk/bartender/host were respectful but rushy.
The restaurant could use a remodeling but it was nice.
We wanted some Thai and wanted some close so we gave Surin of Thailand a try. It was a great experience overall.
We were seated right away and ordered pretty quickly. I ordered a Ginger Martini which was amazing. Highly recommend trying it as it has fresh ginger.
For dinner I ordered the Pad See U ($16) and it had been a while since I’ve had pad see u and this hit the spot.
The restaurant itself is a bit lackluster but with a few art pieces it can definitely be a little more cozy.
I would definitely return if you are looking for great Thai food.
I can't understand how this restaurant doesn't have a better rating.
The food is flavorful and authentic. The kitchen is however conscious of spice levels - any dish can be made spicy but if you do not ask, they will prepare it as mild. I ordered everything mild so that I could taste the nuances in the curries and meats. It was delicious. So much so that I returned a few days later and order things spiced up. Equally as good, great presentation, and the wait staff is constantly checking on you to make sure everything is perfect. Really enjoy this restaurant and I'm glad I tried them out!
Surin of Thailand is one of my Atlanta go-to food destinations serving authentic Thai cuisine with a focus on the freshest local vegetables and meats. But Surin also feels like a community, where the wait staff knows you by name and you get to engage at the bar with interesting people.
Surin is located in Virginia Highland at the intersection of N. Highland and Greenwood Avenue. The owners of Surin also own Ocean Wave (Harry & Sons) in the same neighborhood and 4 Thai restaurants in Alabama.
Surin has been serving Atlanta since the 1990s. It is not the most modern interior, but it has a comfortable feel. Customer service is always top notch. The chefs are also able to accommodate spice level preferences.
We ordered:
Drinks: Cucumber Martini, Lemon Drop Martini, French Cosmopolitan, Margarita
Appetizers: Moo Yang (char-grilled pork loin), Spring Rolls
Mains: Ka Proud Lamb, Sweet & Sour Chicken, Thai Barbecued Chicken
Surin’s martinis are epic. All of them. I have not had a bad one, and I have enjoyed quite a few. I can personally recommend the Soho Lychee, Ginger, French Cosmopolitan, and Lemon Drop ones. My friend also enjoyed her margarita.
The spring rolls are your standard fare for a Thai restaurant. I enjoyed my moo yang, as it was well seasoned. I have also enjoyed their Chicken Larb, Thai Beef Jerky, and Thai Style Chicken Wings.
I love their Thai Barbecued Chicken, and someone also orders it anytime we are here. The marinade is so tasty and the chicken is always tender.
The Sweet & Sour Chicken is my friend’s go-to dish. I actually appreciate them serving the sauce separately from the chicken, as it allows us to enjoy the chicken’s crispiness.
The lamb chops are prepared medium and are tender and flavorful. I really like the chopped bell pepper, basil, and onion sauce that accompanies the lamb chops. Their fried rice is very solid as well.
I also recommend their Spicy Coconut Soup, Thai Spicy Basil Fried Rice, and Prik King. I have been meaning to try the Succulent Catfish and their curries.
Me and my daughter just did Uber eats and it very delicious 😋😋 hot n fresh I love this place top tier kiss to the chef
Pad Thai is almost neon pink and not good. I also had the egg rolls. Those are ok. The Thai tea is very good though.
I love this place!!! The food was amazing and the area has a fun atmosphere. The parking can be a little hard because of so much traffic but its definitely worth it.

Just visited again tonight and was hoping for the authentic sticky rice we had here a few years ago. Surin has succumbed to what most American Thai restaurants offer as sticky rice: over-moistened basmati. Very sad. This restaurant already used too much MSG, but had authentic sticky rice going for it. Alas, no more.
I honestly don’t know what has taken me so long to write a review. I’m literally here 2-3x/week. The food is amazing. You can find me eating beef satay, beef jerky, chicken wings or dim sum for an appetizer. I have the spicy mixed seafood, spicy beef salad, pad woo sen, or spicy noodles for an entree. And yes, although i don’t get it every time….they have desert and the brownie is amazing!!!!! When I come, I sit at the bar and I come on days when Sebio is working the most. He is so nice, friendly and accommodating and yes his drinks are amazing!!!!!! Anybody saying the drinks are small or weak needs to reevaluate! Do yourself a favor and COME TO SURIN ON N. HIGHLAND!!!!
Nice place, good customer service, good place
I enjoy thai food all around atlanta, but this place was extra good! Highly recommend even if you don't live in the neighborhood!
We typically love Surin, particularly the green curry. Tonight we decided to try something new. We ordered the Tiger Cry beef dish. We love our beef and thought this would be a fun twist What we received was beyond gross. We paid over $35 plus tax and tip for a piece of beef with two huge strips of gristle throughout. We had to throw out 3/4 of the meat. Actually, since this was take out we were at home. Our cocker spaniel loved it. We work hard for our money and are overtly irritated that we received such an inferior meal. Completely unacceptable, Surin. You need to do better. Honestly, we’d love our money back. Unbelievable.
Cannot seem to get their uber orders out without an extra hour to cook it. The food is solid, but don’t order from them through a delivery service. Twice in two weeks a delivery driver had to wait there for at least 40 minutes while they cooked.

Love this place
..get the wonton soup it's the bomb
I just randomly ordered from here on Uber eats. I wanted Lao style papaya salad and coconut soup. That papaya salad was the right freaking spicy! The coconut soup was made to my liking and was not overtly sweet. I’m going in person soon!
Very good food.
We always order from a delivery service. Food is consistently great! Today I called to ask a question and was hung up on by a rude team member.
Worst Thai food I have ever eaten. If you know nothing about Thai food this is the place for you. Running a scam with the parking lot behind the restaurant. Got booted parking in the handicap space even with a tag.
Love this place! I've been coming for years, and I always recommend it for good thai food. Their red curry sauce that they serve with the potstickers is insanely good, highly recommend it.
The service is also amazing. I've had the same server a few times (I think his name is Gabe), and he always recommends good items and is quick with our drink orders and knows when to check in.
I had the Thai BBQ Chicken .It was very dry. We had the duck, also very dry.
I’ve been coming here for years, the food
is deliciously consistent. Chill environment with a fun location.
Best curry and vegetable stir fry
This IS the restaurant that you ALL want to experience!!! They make the best drinks to marry your appetizers, and food that will send you into a new appreciation for their authentic, delectable cuisine!!! My personal opinion....don't order "to go". I've taken food that, in house, is remarkable, but not as good as "in person". This, I mark, as one of my favorite and frequently visited restaurants in Atlanta!!! You CAN'T go wrong!!!
Cliff Frierson, citizen of Atlanta for 43 years!!! Trust me!!! You can't go wrong here!!!
Cliff Frierson
The best Thai Fried rice! So addicted! We drive an hour just to eat at this restaurant!
It's been 20 years since I visited Surin Thai. In a town where restaurants open and close like a door, this place has staying power. The food was almost as good as I remember. Tasty, savory, sour, salty, creamy ... touched every taste sense. Will try not to wait another 20 years.
I got panang curry with tofu and fried rice. I expected the fried rice to have some vegetables with it. The taste was great but by the end of the dish the taste was monotonous as it was just rice tofu and curry. There were two strips of bell peppers
The food was splendid!! It was good to eat something so delicious on such an empty stomach! Definitely coming back, haha!
This establishment had roaches. The worst part, they had the audacity to share that they had just bombed the resturant the night before. Please, just close the resturant the day after! No one wants to eat while seeing roaches on their napkin and crawling on the floor. We left before ordering our main course. I definitely will not go back.
Best thai place in Atlanta!

Fantastic. Tastes great, quick friendly service, reasonably priced. Highly recommend
They close whenever they want based on what you look like. Very rude sucks because the food is good but doubt I’ll ever come back.
Hands down my favorite- this and it's sister restaurant Ocean Wave are my go to for Thai and Sushi! YES YES just go!

Met some family for dinner. Food and service was great.
Really fresh and delicious food! Sat at the bar and enjoyed a salad with chicken and shrimp and then had green curry with shrimp as ky main course - all delicious!!
Food and service is not as good as it use to be.I was very disappointed the last few times.I will not be going back. Not to mention parking SUCKS
Prices have gotten crazy - higher than most other Thai in the area. Just tried to call in and the person that answered the phone barely knew the name of the restaurant and couldn't figure out how to operate the phone. And no parking in the area according to him.
Enjoyable lunch
Usually love Surin and ordering for delivery. Tonight was a disappointment on the Thai noodles. They had absolutely no flavor and three pieces of tofu in the whole order. The rest of our meal was Surin quality, but one diner was extremely disappointed.
One of my favorite spots for a good plate and a delicious drink!
The food is one of the only places you really taste like you are in Thailand! Great service, but the ambiance is not great as it is super loud. That's okay for 2 people, but groups or hearing impaired, not great. But again, top notch food!
We ordered thai curries and both were so delicious. I would like to say this is the best thai food I've ever tried. Must visit💯
I had a VERY NEGATIVE customer service experience regarding my Uber Eats order tonight. My food was NOT secured to prevent tampering. When I called the restaurant about this the person on the phone swore me UP AND DOWN that my order was sealed and he hung up on me when I repeated that my order was NOT sealed. I will be reporting this to Uber Eats. Whoever hung up on me needs to be terminated. I have a picture of the order NOT SECURED NOT STAPLED!!! THE NERVE OF THAT PERSON TO BACSICALLY CALL ME A LIAR!!! DESPICABLE AND DISGUSTING!!!! The only thing that was taped was the Pad See U. None of the chicken wings or the egg rolls I ordered were taped. THE BAG SHOULD HAVE BEEN STAPLED!!! THE PERSON WHO LIED SAID IT WAS!!! If I weren't tired, I'd drive back up there to show the manager he has employees who lie to their customers working there. Down right sickening to call me a liar. Clearly....as you can see....from these pictures....NOTHING BUT THE Pad See U was sealed. I expose liars all the time because....they ask for it with their arrogance. SMH.
The staff is no where near on the level that they used to be when I was in college. They've changed the Pad Thai a few years back..it lacks the flavor it used to have and the color of it doesn't even look the same. The Pad See U had NO FLAVOR AND NO SAUCE. This place has severely dropped in quality, honesty, and customer service. Don't waste your money on time or this place.
This experience was really bad. The server never checked on us, empty glasses of water, and then got upset when I asked for the check. I told him the service was bad and he went on to explain that “gay people always have a problem” and literally slammed my card back to me. The food wasn’t good, but what stands out the most is the horrible unbelievably bad service.
Surin and Ocean wave (down the street) are part of the same parent company and were equally nasty as I tried to resolve a difficult conversation with one of the bartenders (Francis) who got upset when I requested a substitution that I’ve gotten regularly. He continued to yell at me to the point where I had to hang up the phone to stop the abuse. No manager was available at either location and I have never been spoken to like this before. The food is generally good, but the service has declined significantly over the years, which is disappointing to see.
Ordered pork larb and chicken curry and was not very impressed.
This place is ok, really laid back and casual, the food is decent but my wife didn’t like it too much, average at best. The staff are borderline lazy. We told our waiter to give us a few moments to read the menu and you would’ve thought we told him to go take a vacation. The food however has potential it came out very hot, I would recommend a little more seasoning but I do understand that everyone has their preference. Would I visit again…probably no
It's been a while since I've eaten here but every time I come the atmosphere is very pleasant! Celebrating my birthday today!
The food is always delicious!!
The food is always good and fresh. They give nice servings and we always have enough to take home for later.
This Thai restaurant never misses. Sixteen of us attended this visit. The service was friendly, patient, and quick. The food is consistently great and priced appropriately. There was only one server working, but there was no deficiency in service.
Dim sum was no good. The pad se u was okay, a little flavorless. Coconut soup was decent. The Panama curry was really good. Prices are outrageous though.
Great staff and my girl Ann is the best with making drinks! Been coming here for some years now!
I had lunch there with my significant other and the service was fine. The food was basic as far as thai food goes.
Unfortunately I got food poisoning later that day. It was the only meal that day where she and I had something different. She was fine, I on the other hand, violently lost a lot of water weight throughout the night. I will not be returning there.
Hands down the best Thai food in Atlanta. Their coconut soup cannot be beat. Their curries are fantastic, the Pad Thai is amazing, and the spicy seafood dish is unbelievable. I’ve tried all the Thai restaurants nearby and Surin is still unsurpassed.
This is a family owned restaurant that has apparently been here for years.
It's very spacious, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming.
The wait staff are so personable and pleasant. The food came out fast and OMG!
IT WAS SO DELICIOUS!!
I had boneless basil duck! It was perfection.
I will be back!
We have been patronizing Surin since 2005.
This restaurant used to have a line to get a table, but not anymore.
We dined here on a Friday night and it was not busy at all.
The food still very good, the service is attentive, but we feel the ambiance is missing. Walking in and the restaurant looks bland, something is missing.
Surin had the crowd, don't know what happened to it.
They used have a big flower arrangement that added a nice touch to the bar area, no longer there.
This time for starters we ordered the Dim Sum and the Dumplings, they were well prepared, fresh, great taste.
My main course, Massaman Curry, as I always remember it, well balance flavors, Yummy.
I will definitely patronize Surin again.
The Spicy Coconut Soup is amazing! Its presentation is unique, exciting, and the flame coming out of the top keeps the soup warm for a long time. We got Pad Thai and Fried Rice as well. They were okay. The service was personalized and very considerate. The atmosphere would be better if the bathrooms were cleaner.
We will be going back.
Excellent curry. Very loud when busy- shout-to-talk level. Prices fine. Crab rangoon was a miss- described by one redditor as "the best crab rangoon in Atlanta" but they were sorely mistaken.
A VA-Poncey favorite! Food is fresh and tasty w/soft shell crab and spring rolls as my all-time favorite. This spot is nice to bring a date & maybe peruse the neighborhood bars afterwards for some fun! Pricing is decent as are the curry dishes, with green curry with shrimp being the obvious standout in terms of flavor and appropriate spice! They have a full bar…my go to orders include lychee martini & lemon drop. Parking can be an issue in this neighborhood only because so many people enjoy various restaurants and stores in the area...
Definitely try the soft shell crab! This place is such an Atlanta treasure!
One of my fav THAI places BUT please put FRIED ICE CREAM back on the menu
Pretty good Thai food, though maybe lacking in variety. I ordered the spicy basil leaves and it wasn't really spicy but more so a bit overly sweet. A lack of vegan appetizers was also a bit disappointing. The price to amount of food ratio was pretty good though. The staff was very friendly and checked in just enough which was nice.
Rude, degrading and threatening lead staff members.
The food was amazing, and the service was delightful!
THE BEST THAI FOOD IN ATLANTA! the soft shelf crab is delicious and the wanton soup on fire is the best ever. the staff is great too. I highly recommend Surin of Thailand worth the drive for the delicious food! 20 years i have eaten at Surin of thailand!
Excellent food and service! The atmosphere was not as high-end as I remembered and it was a little loud for my taste (hard surfaces throughout) but the tin ceiling was charming, the background music was enjoyable and it was nice. I’ll probably get takeout next time.
This place is the slowest restaurant on the planet. Their food has gone downhill over the last few years.
The lamb chops was excellent went with family members very friendly staff and atmosphere drinks were excellent. Parking is in the back of the restaurant in case you didn’t know
This place is fantastic, have the hot beef salad with the mango sticky rice for desert you won't regret it
Lunch spot with all the Thai flavors, not too spicy unless you ask for it. Service is steady and on point. I have also ordered talke out before and the food is pretty good for a while.
This place right here!!!!! Never disappointed ALWAYS A1 REGARDLESS OF TIME OR DAY OF THE WEEK.
Great atmosphere and service. Thank you for your kindness. I loved my vegetarian dish but my daughter didn't enjoy her noodles and her second choice of fried rice. I guess the friend rice was too mushy.
Great place to get your car booted. Thank Surin and Empire Parking.
So, just why would you go there?
1st visited Surin over 20 yrs ago, since then the food and service has declined, this the 2nd time I was given dry Thai BBQ Chicken on a to go order, pretty sure they wouldn't serve that chicken on a dine in service, because it would have went straight back to the kitchen. Then they tell me to bring it back, I live in Douglas County, they should quality control take out orders.
Already reviewed. Google maps needs a tune up or something…
This one is our birthday, anniversary, or passing through ATL go-to! The Surin baskets, beef salad, and Pad-see-u are our favs! The service is always great too.
Loved every minute of our time there. Server was funny and on top of things. Food was amazing! I loved the coconut soup, a dish with glass noodles and the Panang Curry! My eleven year old daughter loved the food too! One of my all time favorite restaurants!!
Great food, great service and a great atmosphere. Highly recommended!
Great place, great food, great staff!!
ßopa de coco, papaya spaicy salad delicioso
Amazing Food!!!
Not a Thai fan and this place changed my mind! Pad Thai, curry, and the wings were AMAZING.
Best Thai in the city HANDS DOWN.
Always good food.
This place was a favorite for many years. My takeout was spicy mixed seafood and shrimp panaag. The shrimp was old, not fresh in both dishes. The scallops in the mixed seafood dish was not fresh, very soggy. I called the following morning and spoke to a lady who said management was not there however they would call me back.
A pretty good first experience. Ordered takeout via UberEats. Had the Thai Noodle with Chicken, Duck Curry and the Crab Angels - didn’t taste much crab but they were decent. I recommend the Duck Curry, it was really good.
The staff and waitresses and everyone is so RUDE here
They always are yelling and down taking Uber pickup drivers
I recently attended a birthday gathering at this restaurant. It was a small group totaling 7 people. Towards the end of the evening, I noticed that the crew was cleaning and preparing to close. I also noticed that there were 3 other tables with people still dining. A staff member came over to our table and demanded, "You have to go." Not in a friendly manner at all. In disbelief, shock, and confusion, we humbly gather our items and walked outside and gather in front of the restaurant to bid our goodbyes. A couple at the bar, 2 tables remained dining. We were not disrespectful or loud. As mentioned previously, it was a total of 7 black attendees at our table, which consisted of the birthday gir and her mother. We paid upwards of $500+ for our meal. They took our money and disrespectfully threw us out. There is a manner in which to communicate without being disrespectful. They did not address the remaining tables in such a man er. This experience was most unpleasant, to say the least. I will never patronize the business again, and I encourage others to stay away also.
Probably should be 5-star. Excellent chicken and rice. Looking forward to return April 29. (Parking terrible)
I've never had Masaman curry with avocado in it before, and it was a stroke a genius. Pure, delicious genius. Paired with the flavors so well!
Honestly some of the best coconut soup I've ever had! The spicy basil fried rice and spicy beef salad were also incredible, as was the sake. 10/10!
Just 👏
Busy so we sat at the bar. Generous cocktails, quick service, good food.
Second visit, the food is so good. Busy spot, love the ambience and the location.
Don't worry......about a thing.....😎. Been coming here for years and I see why.
Wished they had separate parking, other than that it was very good.
Good and affordable
Superb service every visit.
The Wonton soup is really good.
This place used to be my favorite takeout spot but it took them over an hour to prepare 1 noodle and 1 curry. Don’t know if management changed but this really changes if I’ll be returning.
Second time here. Wonderful food, generous portions, priced well. The staff was great.
First, let me say that the food was very good: tasty, full of flavour, and the ginger martini was a nice addition to the meal. Now, let’s talk service. We were a party of 9 celebrating as former colleagues. The restaurant was busy and it took the waiter an inordinate amount of time to take drink, appetizer, and meal orders. As each course was dropped off at our table the waiter didn’t not return to check on the table to see if we needed anything else. At the end of the meal 3 of my colleagues requested to-go boxes. When one colleague asked for additional soy ginger dressing to go with her leftover food the waiter said it would be $7 for additional dressing. She passed. Once the bill arrived, again after an inordinate amount of time, the waiter refused to separate the bill and had included a 20% gratuity instead of 18%. Not much of a difference but the principle. The menu clearly states 18% on groups of 6 or more. The manager was called and even though we advised him we had not been informed about split checks when the reservation was made, that we waiter was not attentive, and that the waiter included a 20% gratuity, the manager refused to work with us. He refused to budge on his position.
After a nice night of celebration and good food the way in which our evening progressed put a damper on the evening.
As a result of how things were handled, the inattentiveness of the waiter, and the inflexible attitude of the manager, as a group we have decided that Surin will not be on our list of places to patronage any time soon, or again. If you have a meal here, please review your bill carefully. Hope your customer service experience was/will be better than ours.
Best catfish fillets EVER! 🤤
I guess the host thought we were going to do a dine and dash, she placed us in last table in the back of the restaurant, just in case we didn't pay. Then when it was time to pay, she handed me the CC device and stood over while inserted the card and selected the tip. She didn't think I had ever used a mobile CC device and select "Print". But we still had a Great time.
My favorite is that green curry
This was my first place I’ve had Thai food. It’s wonderful! The coconut soup, duck, fried wontons, spaghetti, lamb, and Thai tea is amazing!
very rude waitress
Great food.
It's hard to find good Thai food ITP. I've tried a lot of different places and this makes the top three. Coconut soup was delicious! What a nice way to warm up from the cold. Green curry was excellent. The space is a little loud. The creme brulee was cold inside and didn't quite crack, but it was still a tasty custard. Our server was very friendly and prompt with our drink refills. Will be back!
Incredible food! The atmosphere is abit crewded, and loud.
My first time here was super amazing! I absolutely loved the wait staff. My waiter was hilarious!
I've been dining at this nearby restaurant for years. It's always been excellent. My recent lunch with a friend there was no exception. The appetizers and entrees are tasty and generous. For those who prefer to eat light there was a luncheon menu with smaller portions. It came with a coconut soup, no substitutions. It didn't appeal to me, but I tried the soup anyway. It was superb and I would not hesitate to order it again. My friend and I arrived for an early lunch and atypically were the only ones in the restaurant for the first 20 minutes. We were able to get our orders in and served to us before the lunch crowd hit. The service was good. I had the luncheon portion chicken masala. My friend ordered the dinner portion and had plenty left over to take home. There's street parking. Paid. And you might be able to find a parking space on the adjacent neighborhood streets. We took an Uber there and back, which eliminated any parking concerns. Surin is located in the Virginia Highland restaurant and entertainment area. So you might enjoy a leisurely stroll through the area to check out adjacent shops and amenities.
Be careful ordering from this restaurant via takeout a takeout service like UberEATS. Botched my order, called immediately, and the person who answered said they receive a lot of orders and sometimes it happens. He said "Call Uber", like they are going to fix the restaurant's fault. Hung up immediately after he said that. No dinner for me tonight! 🙁
Had the spaghetti.. very tasty dish.
The customer service at this place is horrible! Let’s just start there. The bill came to about $1000 for a party of about 26 people…some were totally strangers to one another, as this was a birthday celebration. They would not split the bill after knowing that the request was to have split bills. They should have never took our reservation if they couldn’t honor the request. Their reason behind not splitting the bill…they were too busy. There were about 6 other people in there…are you kidding me?!
And let me not forget about my Lemon Drop…the table was so sticky that my glass got stuck to the table every time I put it down. I spilled my drink every time I picked my glass up. A waste! Don’t even waste your time or money!
Amazing food and great service!!
On 11/19/2022, I and 26 others went to Surin’s to celebrate my 50th birthday. I had pre-planned the occasion by speaking with “AJ” twice over the past three weeks. During both calls, AJ advised that he “preferred” one check be paid for the party of 27. I informed AJ that I could not guarantee this could be arranged since not everyone knows one another which makes it difficult to have one individual assume the cost of dining, while hoping strangers would repay them. AJ appeared to understand during both calls.
What started as a great birthday gathering was quickly ruined by AJ’s unprofessional, unkind, and extremely arrogant demeanor. I, the party celebrating her birthday was handed a bill for nearly $1000.00. Why would I pay for others to eat at my celebration? Moreover, why would anyone find it appropriate for me to do so? I would not inconvenience myself or them by collecting debts from a restaurant that clearly had the ability and capacity to separate checks. Although 26 guests, there were not 26 checks to be paid! When I asked that the check be divided into separate checks, the waiter “Donald” claimed it would be “hard” to do because he was so busy. There were 6 other people in the restaurant, seated at two different tables. I pointed out this fact and Donald still pretended to be busy, while stopping by the two other tables to make small talk. Before abandoning our table, Donald and AJ advised we take the bill amount and divide by the number of individuals in the party. Incredible! So, those who only had an appetizer, or a drink, or brought children who shared an entree would pay for the cost of a meal for people they didn’t know. I am still appalled by the suggestion.
AJ, rudely, refused to look at anyone while they were speaking (averting his glass to his left) and refused to cancel the large check to provide separate checks. I reminded AJ that he stated he “preferred” a single check. A preference is not a requirement! Typical AJ-style, he asked that I not raise my voice. My voice had not increased a single octave! I asked that he look at me when speaking to me and when I am speaking to him. He continued to refuse to demonstrate any level of professional customer service. I asked AJ did he not want our business. AJ boldly replied, “No I don’t! Not when it’s over 10 people.” Say what?!? Then why reserve the seats? Why not tell me 3 weeks ago that he did not care to have his staff members work a large party? Incredible! When I told AJ that he will be receiving multiple negative reviews, he extended his ignorance by replying, “I don’t care,” then quickly scurrying and hiding in the kitchen.
I was NOT allowing arrogant and ridiculous regulations to be deemed as mandatory. However, a friend of mine decided to pay the check and collect from the others afterwards. Over 30 minutes was spent asking AJ to cancel the single check and allow all parties to pay separately. Another 30+ minutes was spent with my friend trying to calculate orders, divide gratuity, and wait for individuals to Cash-App her. What a mess! To add insult to injury, the last page of the menu clearly states an 18% gratuity is added to a party of 6 or more. A 20% gratuity was added to the single check!
Experiences like this is why businesses fail and why people poorly engage with one another. The level of disrespect, lack of concern for what was in the customer’s best interest and low-level action of boosting gratuity made today THE LAST that I will ever give a penny to Surin’s!
Shame on you AJ! Your rudeness, greed, and ignorance caused you to lose 20+ customers and everyone they know. You do not have the right to make your preference a mandate. Not sure if you thought the group of African-Americans would try to skip-out without paying or you simply don’t like our kind. However, many of us make a salary far greater than yours and our lives are blessed beyond measure. There are plenty of restaurants that welcome us with warmth.
FOOD ALWAYS GREAT BUT TODAY’S FOOLISHNESS…unacceptable!
Mediocre food
The male manager is so rude. We wait almost an hour for our food, soup in pot but not warm, with wrong meat we ordered. Dishes are salty, over priced. I took my husband here today, find our memories, I am so sad that we had a very bad experience and will never never come back...
Service is terrible!!!! We waited over 40 minutes for our dishes. We asked the male manager...he said if we want fast food we should go to the buffet. We and the two lades next table were shocked by this attitude. The soup is just warm not hot. Pad Thai is too salty... It was one of my favorite Thai food in Atlanta. I don't what is going on they are...
Picked up an online order here had to wait an hour once I got there to get it!! Customer service was horrible. Food was ok. Oh and I ordered it an hour before I went to pick it up! A few customers at the bar was complaining about the same issue.
Great combo rice with lots of flavor. Wonderful location and ambience.
Male Manager Very racist to Melanated people 🙄
Google says open till 10:30 and they are not. We showed up at 9:30 and they told us they we’re closed. We explained that we flew in from Florida just to come here and they still would t even give us an appetizer. Will never come here again. Horrible customer service.
Excellent food and customer service.
Nice Thai place. Had Thai beef jerky appetizer and it was great and chicken curry with rice. Good prices and service.
Went in with my family of 5 total. We ordered 4 appetizers and 5 meals. Total was 135 .76 I ordered chicken fried rice it was supposed to have eggs, cilantro and scallions. It had none of the above. It was sweet tasting. I did not like. My family ordered duck and seafood. On the receipt the server added 20 percent tip in pen on bottom. I asked him if that was a suggested tip. He said no that I had to pay it. I asked why if the receipt has typed on bottom that it is suggested. He said because I had a party of 5 that it was mandatory. I said menu says party of 6 or more is mandatory. He then changed it and we gave a $26 tip. Point is why did he think it was okay to write it in and then try to enforce it?
I had the lamb chops and fried rice. Delicious
So delicious every time!!!
