For entrées we had Pad Thai with tofu which was very good as well as the Thai Basil Noodle with chicken. On April 1st the mango w/ sticky rice was in season and I HIGHLY recommend. It is vegan for all who'd like to know.
Server Bryce was very attentive and kind as was the rest of the staff. I will come back!

Have been here about 5 times now and this place is buzzing for dinner. Constant high quality well prepared and presented. I had the butterfly shrimp on a bed of vegetables and a side of white rice. There were 5 shrimps about 3in long and cut open in the middle. Very delicious. Service excellent as always!

This hidden gem has the nices staff I've ever experienced. We immediately were sat down and asked what we would like to drink. We tried the summer rolls, their calamari, yellow curry, fried chicken, Thai tea and a deep fried cheecake. EVERYTHING WAS PHENOMENAL. #TRYIT

Excellent meal and service! Been going here since about 2005 and once again they did not disappoint. My favorite is the #62 Crazy Red Curry. The flavors and spice are like heaven. It was a bit busy tonight, but once seated the service was prompt. Nice people.

We have been going to Thai Basil since I was born and is my favorite restaurant. Everyone is friendly and the food is the best! It is sad to see it close soon. It will be missed heavily. Thank you for making such delicious food! 😋

The service was horrible!!! I felt rushed to leave the whole time and they were just there staring at us eating.
Plus when I payed my bill they brought it back to me and told me to tip more money!!!
Also the food was not good either. It was fine but not a place I would ever ho back combined with the customer service made it a truly disappointing experience.
The only plus is that the restaurant itself is pretty but that the only positive I can find.

I am disappointed with the quality of food. The appetizer is the only item that came out hot (crab Rangoon). The panang curry was cold and the vegetables were nearly raw. An extra $4 for 5 medium shrimp is ridiculous. The server never brought out the chilli oil. The atmosphere was nice, but just overall disappointed for the price point.

We wanted to try the new Lemongrass restaurant on Old Lockwood but arrived to find their doors locked. We ended up at Thai Basil after a quick Google search. Despite being busy on a Friday with several large parties we were seated quickly and greeted for drinks. Servers worked as a team and answered all my questions about ingredients and preparation with great personality. My soup and noodle dish were exceptional. The dining room is clean and small and decor/furnishings are outdated but functional. The restroom was incredibly dusty all over the vanity, flowers, and paper towel dispenser. It could definitely use a more attentive cleaning. Overall, the food and service was wonderful and we will be back and suggest a little more attention to the restrooms.

The food was not that authentic, I felt like it wasn’t that fresh. It’s just ok. Service was good. Needs work on the dark outdated atmosphere. Does not feel clean.

They don't answer the phone anymore for takeout so you have to go there and order and then wait 20 to 30 minutes in a crowded entrance. Seems like they have cut back on the staff at the expense of customer experience

After coming here and having good food for over 3 years, I've gotten over their limited hours. I just want to eat Thai Basil all the time. They do Curry absolutely perfect and their staff is friendly. But, when they are busy, be prepared for a wait. For me, its worth it.

Great place to go. This is a diamond and well worth coming from the surrounding area. The service here is outstanding. The wait staff is friendly and makes you feel welcome at at home. The food is great. The dumplings are excellent with a nice crispy topping. We had the salad which was very good. My dining companion had the crispy duck secret was excellent. The noodle dishes are great. You can't go wrong. They also have great lunch specials.

they really need to improve their take out system

This place has a long line on Friday night and we waited about 45 minutes to be seated. It was well worth the wait! My husband ordered the Phad Thai and I had the Panang Curry and it was beyond amazing. We also had the bananas a la mode for dessert. We're so happy to have found this place and will definitely be going back!

I ordered the Pad Thai Chicken for take out and the chicken was hard chewy, flavorless, and dry. The noodles were dry with hardly any sauce on them, even at the bottom. I let the host know and she was unprofessional and said having it remade wouldn't matter that it would "be the same". I hoped she was wrong and let them remake it. It was still awful. I went to fresh market and bought Pad Thai noodles, sauce etc and made my own. I cant believe they are serving $15 plates of food with clearly old and over boiled chicken in it.
I would give it 0/5 stars if possible. Don't waste your time or money.

They always close early or take their phone off the hook so that they don't have to take any more orders. Really disappointing because I really like their food. Maybe they're understaffed?

....They always close early. So it's really disappointing I call 30 minutes ahead and absolutely no one picks up the phone, even just to say "sorry we can't take anymore orders." It's just simply bad customer service with loyal customers. Their door says they close at 10pm and the doors are locked at 9:45 and I tried to call ahead. Nothing.

We like to get their takeout but be careful that you get what you ordered before you leave. Last night the spring rolls and extra sauce we ordered were missing. I tried for an hour to get through on the phone, redialing over 23 times, and always got a busy signal. We didn’t want to drive all the way back and wait for them to make them. Very frustrating that I paid for the items and never got them. Even more aggravating that it’s so hard to get through on the phone. I have to say when I picked up the food no one was on the phone and it wasn’t ringing, but the lady at the desk was the person that took my order. Makes me wonder if they take it off the hook while helping customers or something. It took me multiple tries to get through when I ordered as well. 😡

Food is great but they clearly do not care about takeout as I had to call over 11 times just to place my order my wife really wanted Thai don’t know if I will order again because takeout is so difficult

My family and I have been very happy customers for over ten years. Whenever we have visitors, Thai Basil is the first place we take them. Every meal and takeout order has been perfect and delicious. We can’t wait until our 8 month old granddaughter is able to enjoy a yummy meal at Thai Basil with us! The staff is always helpful, nice and friendly!

The food is always awesome

The food tastes great, but they only get 2 stars for the following reasons:

1) they don't have online ordering so you must call which greatly ties up their phone and it takes an hour to get through sometimes.

2) they take their phone off the hook to slow down orders, instead just hire more cooks.

3) they changed from the large Styrofoam take out boxes to a box which is better constructed but is half the size meaning for the last year they've been serving half portions for the same price. They must be doing this to cope with higher demand so they have more noodles and rice available. Terrible decisions 😠

This place would be the number 1 thai restaurant in central Florida if they just hired more chefs, worked with a third party company to offer online/Mobile orders, and stopped serving smaller portions for take-out.

Love the food but the last few times ive tried ordering take out during posted business hours nobody answered the phone. I don't know if it's a staffing issue or what.

The food is always really good. Thai Basil Fried Rice is my favorite.

We took our friend, who had never eaten Thai food before, to Thai Basil tonight. We ordered several appetizers, a few different entrees and a few desserts so he could try them all. Well all I can say is all the food came out fresh, hot and tasty. So much so our friend is planning on going back next week!!! I told him not unless we get to join him. Guess who’s in for round 2 :-)

This place was completely unprofessional & very rude when it came to fixing my order. We curry entree & the duck as well. The curry tasted like a bowl of peanut soup. The food runner then tried to talk to me like a child & that I don’t know how dining establishments should conduct there selfs when speaking to customers.

Love this restaurant. I used to work down the street from Thai Basil and would stop in for lunch at least once a week. The food is fantastic and was very consistent. There is not a lot of seating but we were always able to find a table during the early parts of the lunch rush. Now that I live farther away I still do pickup ever once in a while and the food is still great.

Been coming here since the early 2000's. Excellent food with a wonderful array of flavors. Very friendly staff even during hectic hours. I have several favorites including the Tom Ka soup, jungle muscles, green and panang curries and the bamboo and basil to mention a few. The flash fried cheesecake is the best! Best Thai food in town IMHO.

Thai basil used to be our go to restaurant pre covid. Last 3 takeouts we did, all of them were wrong/missing/badly cooked orders. Even tonight I ordered a simple drunken noodles with tofu and there was no tofu in the food. I guess time to find a new Thai place in the area because I am done with this place.

I love Thai Basil, however the take out that we've received is subpar. I hate when restaurants use Styrofoam for hot food as it sometimes melts if the food is placed in there too hot and no one wants to eat Styrofoam. And this is exactly what happened to our food. It was so hot that it actually melted the Styrofoam and was inedible. When I called the restaurant to explain this to them they offered a partial credit. In our current environment with takeout being a top choice for restaurants they need to up their service. See pictures. I transferred top layer to a plastic dish so my husband could at least have something to eat but it was unbelievable.

ordered yellow curry dinner with Calamari. The calamari were so overcooked, they were very hard and chewy. Absolutely inedible, and paid $3 surcharge to boot. $16 dish that only veggies and rice were edible.

Yellow curry and pad thai are some of the best meals that have ever graced my pallet. Both use spice exquisitely allowing you to customize how spicy the food is. The spice also goes down smooth and allows for spicy dishes which also taste great. The yellow curry is sweet and creamy while also delivering savory thai spice. The pad thai is a magnificent noodle dish which uses the iconic flavor of peanuts. Overall each make it I can go back time and time again and never be bored.

Came here for the first time, had the Phad se-ew.(wide egg rice noodles stir fried with broccoli, carrots, egg and black pepper in a mild soy garlic seasoning) The flavors were spot-on. Food was hot and fresh! Also I highly recommend the Thai custard with coconut sticky rice. Sooo delicious, melt in your mouth goodness and not overly sweet. Definitely be coming back soon!

Food is consistently great and the service is consistently poor. Last time I ordered I was pressed for time and tried to place an order for pick up over the phone so I didn't have to wait around doing nothing while they prepared my food. They answered and immediately asked if they could place me on a "a brief hold". I was on hold for 5 minutes, so much for brief.... When I hung up and tried to call back I got a busy tone. tried a few more times, busy tones every time... Brought me back to my childhood and I was thinking "what is this 1995? Why am I getting a busy signal lol?" Anyways, went there to place the order in person and stood around in the front for a solid 3 minutes before anyone even approached me to take an order. There was only one other to go order when I was there so they weren't slammed... When I came back in to get my to go order waiter said "your order's over there and pointed to it". I used to be a server so I ALWAYS tip... This being the one exception. Horrible experience, but at least the food was great. Only reason they didn't get one star

Salty Thai rice.

I’ve heard many good things about this place and I gave it a try.

The appetizers were so good. And the waiter was very attentive. However, when they served the Thai fried rice my experience went downhill. At first when I tried the rice I wasn’t sure if it was supposed to taste like that but after a few tries I started noticing all the salt they poured in the rice. And it wasn’t just me, I was with a group of friends and they all agreed the rice was extremely salty.

I could not finish eating my food because of it. I informed the waiter about it and seems like the kitchen people made a huge mistake and they knew about it. They sent out the rice orders even though they mixed up ingredients and put too much salt. I can understand that this things can happen but when they do and you know it’s your mistake then fix it. Remake the rice, or give some discount. It’s simple. I did not eat my food not because I did not want it but because I did not want to eat an excessive amount of salt and the rice was awful.

I left the restaurant not wanting to come back to this place again.

Over salted my food and did not disclose this upfront. After we confronted them, they admitted they knew about it and did not have the courtesy of letting us choose whether to get a different plate or have their cooks make it again. No discount was offered either. Never coming back here.

Am not going to get into details, however your clients before your employees, your customers come first, a solution to honor and assist and do your job is of importance. If management is not present as the saying goes when the cat is away the mice will play. " Never deny a guest even if it's the most ridiculous request" that is a quote I will leave here for this staff to ponder on. Do on to others as you like done on upon you. God is a great God, he is present in all places at all time. God was present as well that day. These sites should give options not allowing absolutely no stars. As for will I be back or will I advise anyone I know to go back, I will make sure to share of my experience and share that money comes before honor of thy clients.
We felt after reviewing the other customers who had complaints it is very important we add to this. Rude owner, rude staff, the wait, the customer who complains of the food ordered was wrong and she left the restaurant with the wrong order and lives a distant. The owner told her you need to return the food for money. And they would not admit taking and selling the wrong food. Poor customer service and management there. In others the waiting and not being greeted, to see the stressed on their faces as they are under staffed, it shows not a professional atmosphere when under staff and they put blame on the customers. In the business world the customer is always right, however I don't always agree, however if they are and the staff and management would do whatsoever they can to fix the situation than to find no fault in themselves. I will be honest the food is wonderful, but the staff and management work on the customer skills. There are other great places such as our own kitchens and other businesses that comes with great quality food and great quality customer service.

Favorite spot for take out for sure! Love the Tom kha gai and the green curry w/ scallops. Everything I’ve tried on the menu so far has been delicious but those two are unreal!

I got garlic pepper chicken. My wife got the garlic duck. Kids shared a side of rice. Broccoli tasted fresh. Food tasted good. Kid friendly too.

Now THIS is the best Thai food I have had since moving here! I ate Phad Thai in Thailand everyday and that is how I judge a restaurant. This one was spot on and I have since tried the Eggplant Basil, Red Curry, as well as the Cashew dish and the one with the sweet jam. I have not been disappointed! They give nice portion sizes and are always friendly! I tried another place because they were closed and boy was I disappointed!! This one is top notch!!

Thai Basil is the BEST when it comes Thai Food. We love it there and can honestly say 5 stars is not enough.

Thai Basil is a great Thai restaraunt with small and intimate dining area, yet allows for larger groups. The food is wonderful with fresh ingredients and beautiful presentation. The servers are attentive and timely. The place runs like a well oiled machine and provides fabulous Thai food that you dont want to miss.

Fantastic Thai food & great customer service. We love the small atmosphere when dining in and have had nothing but a positive experience dining out. They are also very accommodating with my shellfish allergy which hasn’t always been the case at Thai restaurants.

Food is GREAT!!! People there are GREAT!!! but the constant busy signal for at least 15-30 mins before you can even get through to put in your oder is troubling...

Sad i have to have a plan B for whenever I have a tasting for there food... Definitely makes one truly not ever want to try calling and waste your time... btw i'm at minute 30 and 75 calls of trying to get through... no food or restaurant is worth all that trouble.

Picked up my dinner here of curried snapper fillets steamed yesterday . The taste was perfect Thai flavor. The Thai hot spice did not disappoint. A healthy potion of vegetable and I had some left for lunch today. Young lady who checked me out was very motivated pleasant and upbeat. My first time surly will not be my last.

As a local business owner, I love it when I find a restaurant that has great food, and really great service. My son has autism and is on a special diet. Even though I called when the phones were busy, the owner was so patient. She gave me options my son could eat and told which items could be switched out for others he could not eat. The food was amazing. My family loved it. Even my texture sensitive, picky son loved the food. The Yellow Curry was so yummy. it was like visiting another planet for just a little while. The Pad Thai was also a hit. I went back three days later for more Yellow Curry. This time I literally sat in my car and enjoyed it by myself. No sharing. Just enjoying. With all the craziness of the world, great customer service and delicious food can still be found.

had to try something very different! I had the peanut chicken, I dont remember the exact name but oh my lord it was good! but very nutty so anyone allergic to peanuts this is literally a huge no since it has a strong smell.

we tried calling but always had a busy signal, went to order in person and it was extremely busy. from the outside the locations seems big but the inside it's very small and cramped. regardless I didnt dine in and the food was good overall.

I'm not sure who answered the phone today, but she clearly has a bad attitude. Simply asked for my soup to include extra broth, and was told that there would be a $2 up charge. I having been ordering the same thing for over a year and have never been told that. The way it was delivered was quite condescending as well. Heads up - phone etiquette can take you a long way.

My family disliked the food. Tried it a year ago and decided to give it another chance today. A year ago the extreme sweetness of panang threw me off. Today I craved thai but didn’t want to go far to get it. Decided to try this place again. The dumplings look so unappetizing and taste bland and has a weird texture. My husband gagged while eating calamari as a string was hanging and dangling after he took a bite. Never had calamari like this. Each piece did this. Didn’t try many more. The fried rice and shrimp wonton were ok. The satay was dry and tasteless. It was a good amount of food. But unfortunately a lot may go to waste. Lost appetite.

It was my first time at thai basil and wasn’t sure what I should order. The young blonde gentleman that was working there recommended a spicy chicken dish and it turned out to be amazing! Love the food and customer service! Cant wait to try their other dishes.

Love this place. I just wish they would get a second phone line for take out. Very hard to get through to place an order sometimes.

My family has been going here for years! I moved away and my little brother just started working there this year. I found out that all of their spring rolls and dumplings are all made fresh (he has to roll them) and it just made me love this restaurant more! Best Thai food you can find in central Florida.

Small restraurant, friendly staff, great food. Friday nights are busy, but the relaxed and friendly service made us feel at home. The small space and open tables make conversation occasionally difficult, but we were busy eating the great food.

I love Thai food. And this place just isn’t that good. Is it the only Thai place remotely close to us? Yes. I feel like Pad Thai is the baseline staple food that should be delicious there- and every time I get it I am sorely disappointed.

Very rude owner very bad service, they took the wrong order down and they refused to acknowledge that. Will never go back again it’s a matter of principle. No courtesy whatsoever.

This is my wife and I favorite restaurant and food at Thai Basil is so good. I had shrimp wontons appetizer and it is always good. So I tried and new appetizer curry potatoes with chicken puff pastry. OMG a game changer for me so freaking good. My wife always getsThai Basil tofu which she love. I always get the Thai Basil chicken which is always fantastic, but I changed my dinner last night to Thai Basil duck OMG it is now my new favorite. It is a family run business and they are so friendly and nice. Like most Thai restaurant there hours of operations are different. They are closed mid afternoon and open back for dinner. So check before you go. Bon appetit

Service was awesome! The calamari was fantastic and our soups were good. Tge spring rolls were a bit greasy but tasted good. My pad thai was a bit bland since I requested it medium spicy and my husband's fried rice qas not spicy either. We will definitely be back to try more options.

Always absolutely delicious! Been here hundreds of times over the last decade or so and have never had a bad experience. There may be a wait but that’s just because it’s popular.

New management I guess. I have been going here for 8 years, and had the worst experience I’ve ever had at any restaurant today. The most disgusting food, and the “owner” says they can’t refund money unless I bring back the food. I drove 30 minutes to get their food, and now they want me to drive 30 more minutes to return their mistake. I’ll never be back. Get a Cook you can rely on, or close your doors.

Been going to this place for years and I've yet to have a bad meal. Pad thai with shrimp, panang duck, crispy rice salad, whole fish, chicken soup are a few of my favorites. Oh and their thai tea is really, really good.

I've been here before, quite awhile ago, and had a great experience. Decided to order take out last night and was absolutely disgusted! I was given the normal wooden chopsticks. When I went to use them at home, they were used! They actually washed and re-used disposable chopsticks. The handle was molded and it had a bug crawling on them! I wish I could post a picture here but it's not letting me. So grossed out!
