I started with the appetizer of a salad, and it was really different and very good. Green papaya, tomatoes and carrots, with this really delicious, spicy dressing- very unique.
For the main dish, I got the Thai Sweet and Sour with Tofu, modified it to be medium spicy hot, and it was FABULOUS! Lots of Tofu, chewy and just right, everything was just perfect ❤️
Note: While there were SO many things to choose from on this menu, one thing that I really loved is that you could get Tofu as a protein option for literally any dish on the menu, and they know how to do it just perfect here, nice and soft chewy...A Vegan DREAM come true!!

After ordering Isan Thai’s amazing food from Uber Eats for 9 months, we finally made it into the charming dining room on Tamiami Trail today. I ordered the pork larb salad and my husband had the stir fried Mee Krob noodles with chicken, broccoli , carrots and spicy brown sauce

Everything was delicious, piping hot, perfectly seasoned and great serving size .

Amazing Thai Restaurant!! The food was delicious, and the services were fast. From the outside don't look like a fancy restaurant but once you are inside, you see the decoration from Thailand. They have 2 menus lunch and dinner, and they also have delivery with Door Dash. They have a drink menu with beers, wines, and drinks. When we arrived, we had to wait 15 min because the place we're full, I ordered some grilled shrimp, and the sauce was the different was spicy and tangy. My main dish was the stir fried cashew with beef and was delicious, the rice was serve with a shape of heart ❤️, my wife ordered the spring rolls and was good, but she was amazed with the yellow curry with the extra tofu she said was delicious. For drinks, we ordered a glass of Malbec Wine and Michelob Ultra that was cold like it had to be!. The waitress was fast and cordial.

Service was excellent. Helped us pick out some dishes we loved. Mild isn’t spicy at all. You can handle the medium 🥵

Love this restaurant! It's one of the best Thai restaurants in the area. We drive up from Englewood to eat there. Favorite dishes are pad won sen, drunken noodle and the curry dishes.

We've been ordering from here for over a decade and it never disappoints. It's our one take out order that we can truly rely on. Our family's favorites are the Red Curry, Pad Thai and Pad See Ew. Their peanut sauce with the chicken satay is also a staple for us. Truly delicious.

I have always been pleased with both the food and the service from Isan Thai, but the kai soi I ordered tonight was so salty it was almost inedible. As well, the portion was only 3/4 of what I usually receive. I have ordered kai soi before and enjoyed it, but tonight it was a definite miss. Restaurants should be aware of how unhealthy over salting is for their customers.

I was so disappointed, the food was super bland and the noodles were mushy, I ordered the fresh spring rolls and the bean sprouts were rotten and tasted like vinegar.

I have a one a day meal, where I fast until 12pm, have just one large meal for the day. I was ridiculed and was told by the waitress m, "Wow! You eat too much! " I ordered lunch portion chicken stir fry & stickie rice. I don't think that is a ridiculous amount of food for a paying customer to be ridiculed and made fun of in that manner. Never again !

This is a great Thai food restaurant. We were impressed with the dishes; fresh, very tasty but not over-seasoned, good portion size and reasonable prices. Very cozy, relaxed and pleasant place.

Amazing food with superb speed .. Quantity is good as well

Last night we took out an order. It was terrible. Fresh roll with shrimp had a very fishy smell and tasted like plastic. Chicken on stick was so dry it was choking. All other entrees were uneatable . This was one of our go to places but last two take outs were terrible.

Great Food. Our Favorite Thai in town. Service is excellent but with 3 little kids is easier To-Go which is another consistent service they offer.

This is a favorite of ours and my kids and I agreed that it should get a five star rating except for two things. One: there was a long black hair in my daughter’s meal. Ick. It was obviously not one of ours. Two: one son ordered calamari and it was extremely rubbery. Other than that, everything was great.

Toss up whether the best thing about Isan is the people or the food -- both are outstanding.

Very friendly servers, very good food, and clean restaurant. The food was excellent. Pad Thai tasted very authentic and their crispy pork fried rice is something I've never tried before. It is excellent. A little on the pricy side but worth every penny.

Small, but you are not on top of anyone. High boothes give you a feeling of privacy. Almost! In fact, the staff treats everyone great and they do make you feel special. Great and sizeable menu. Delicious Apps, Soups and Entrees. Outstanding Craft/European Beer! Love it. Highly Recommend.

4/21/24: We loved our meal today! Potstickers, Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles were fresh and tasty. Thai iced tea was good, too. We also ordered fried bananas; we asked for a couple extra ingredients on them and they were more than happy to accommodate. They were delicious! Very good food and friendly service!

10/10 Thai Food! Best bang for your dollar. Its soooo good, and prices and service are really good. Hot oil is so tasty, it turns your food up a notch in flavor and kick department. Drunken Noodles and PadSee- ew were phenomenal! Come and support your local restaurants!

I got food poisoning from eating the chicken pad Thai. Noodles were mushy and heavily soaked in a heavy brown sauce and unlike any pad Thai I’ve had before. The wait person insisted this was how they always make it. My companion also agreed it was strange consistency and also stopped eating it. After several bites I sent it back. Two hours later I had a bout of the worst diarrhea I’ve ever had followed by intense stomach pains. I will never go back.

Passing Sarasota and found this awesome gem. Lovely interior & clean restroom. We had a terrific lunch! The coconut soup & veggie potstickers were delicious. My brother really liked the 4 appetizers he sampled. All with a nice presentation. Highly recommend!

Decided to give this place a try despite the mixed reviews and unfortunately our experience wasn’t good. The rice they served was old and dry. Fried rice dish was awful and slimy. Red curry with duck meat was okay actually ok. Thai tea was mediocre.

Best Thai food I've found in Sarasota. Their prices are reasonable and their food tastes fresh every time. Red chicken curry and fresh rolls are amazing and honestly anything on their menu is worth a try. I eat here as much as I can now! Highly recommend.

I just had 2 meals delivered for a total of $64.00 and they were AWFUL! It ordered Panag Curry, Summer Shrimp rolls and Thia shrimp fried rice. The Panag Curry was a PALE YELLOW AND TASTELESS! THERE WAS NO HINT OF THIA LIME LEAF USED IN THE DISH. ALL THE OTHER PANAG CURRY I HAVE HAD IN MY LIFE WHICH IS ABOUT 100 DISHES WAS ORANGE COLORED AND A STRONG WONDERFUL CURRY TASTE. I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN WHEN YOU DIDN'T REQUEST HOW SPICY I WANTED THE DISH THAT IT WAS GOING TO BE LESS THAN EXPECTED BUT I DIDN'T EXPECT IT WAS GOING TO BE THIS BAD! I THREW IT IN THE GARBAGE. I WILL ORDER FROM SIAM GULF ON MONDAY TO GET A GREAT CURRY DISH. IF YOU WANT A CURRY DISH DON'T ORDER FROM THIS PLACE. EVEN THE SUMMER ROLLS WERE CRAP. Having visited Thailand many times for business I was delighted to be recommended by a Thai friend to visit Issan Thai and since then have eaten there several times over the last 3 years. In my opinion it is the most authentic regional Thai restaurant in Sarasota. Ambience is very authentic, food outstanding and the service excellent. We have recommended it to many friends.

Ordered delivery. Order was wrong. Food was disgusting and had no flavor. No answer when I tried to call restraunt for 2 hours. Not sure what other people are eating but this was NOT good.

I don't understand why this place gets good ratings. If this is considered a good Thai restaurant in Sarasota I can't imagine a bad one. The service was poor and the staff seemed so unhappy to be working and you could feel it. We almost left to go try another place but being in this area of FL the restaurants close at 8 or 830 so we didn't have time as it was 745. On a Saturday night no less 😂. The food was basic and bland. Green curry was watery and dull. Seafood inside was rubber. The Pad Thai was the same. I could buy that in a jar at the supermarket and you wouldn't tell the difference which is probably what they do. The next morning my stomach was upset as well.
I would skip this place if you're for good Thai.

Staff hangs the phone up on you without asking you what kind of soup or salad you want, and very rude when you get there to pick it up. Food is decent though. 🤷🏽‍♀️ It's pretty sad that the hospitality is so bad.

My favorite Thai restaurant in Sarasota. It is consistently good. The service is always great. The ambience in this little restaurant off of 41 is perfect. I love to dine in, but even ordering takeout, they never miss. Two of my favorites are the drunken noodles and wonton soup. The crab rangoon is notably, soft, and fully filled , also the crispy duck is very good. You can’t go wrong with red or yellow curry!

Did a spontaneous, quick take-out decision, and we were glad we did.
Had our food ready in under 15 minutes.

Isan Thai is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in town. It is so genuine, authentic, esoteric, and a gem to go to.

The atmosphere of this restaurant is welcoming, open, cozy and it feels like being in Thailand itself.

I’ve ordered their pad, Thai, fresh rolls, curry, and they are delectable. Their flavor profiles are on point, the consistency in the execution of their dishes is phenomenal, and the ingredients are so fresh.

I always feel so satiated and healthy after eating here, and I can generally say that’s not always the case when you eat out because they tend to overload dishes with salts and fats. However, Isan Thai is superb and never has this issue.

The staff are all so lovely, sweet, kind, and very welcoming. John, the front of the house manager is such a gentleman. He is so personable, knowledgeable, fun, and a joy to have a conversation with.

I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to have an authentic experience of Thai food, and to just be happy and satiated with the flavor profiles. It is an impressive restaurant, and I’m looking forward to actually dining in one day. It feels authentic, like home, and someplace that I would want to be at with my friends, or even on a date.

Vegan pad thai excellent

One of our favorite Thai restaurants in the area. Everything we had was flavorful and reminiscent of our time in Thailand.

As I was browsing my reviews I noticed most of them are negative because people almost never makes time to review the great ones.

Therefore I’m taking this time to give flowers to restaurants that have great food and great service. This is my go to DoorDash restaurant when visiting Sarasota. The food is absolutely delicious and it never fails. I’m always full with leftovers. Thanks for serving great food and handling my order with care.

Nice restaurant and very nice staff. Not crazy about some of the dishes and how they taste.

I sit in the same spot and order the chicken Khao Soi at least monthly. Sometimes, I get the crab Rangoon, too. I don’t care to explore anything else on the menu as it all seems Americanized. It’s the staff/ownership that I appreciate, as they recognize me every time I come in. My food comes out quickly and there’s no fuss when I want a delicious curry flavor for dinner.

More authentic than most in the area

I ordered out and got some truly excellent chicken samosas. However, the phad see ew with tofu was not as good as I'm used to such a dish being. The other diner was also not thrilled nor terribly saddened by her meal, but I can't remember what it was.

We were in downtown Sarasota for a Gem & Bead show and were starving when done at the show. We Googled for a Thai restaurant and Isan came up rated as possibly the best Thai food in Sarasota. The ratings were spot on. We loved the place. If it were closer to home we would go regular.

Every dish we ordered- green curry, pad woon sen, papaya salad and tom yam fried rice - were all very disappointing. Green curry was white and without flavor.
It was like a coconut soup and even one of the employees who gave us the go to boxes thought that. Papaya salad lacked flavor and pad woon sen should be basically fried glass noodles done at high heat. This one had the noodles floating in a sauce and the sauce was too sweet and ruined the noodles. The worst has to be Tom yam fried rice. It was lumpy and didn’t taste like Tom yam. I lived in Bangkok and know what good Thai food taste. I don’t know how on earth this place even got a 4.5 rating. Maybe the regular chef wasn’t in the kitchen tonight. But the owners if they are Thai should take pride in the food they serve. And please do not charge $6 extra for seafood combo. That’s too exorbitant. There are better options in Sarasota. Don’t waste your money here.

Went there last night for dinner and ate in one of their wooden booths. It’s a great ambiance with delicious food. They will work with you on changing dishes for dietary reasons without a fuss. Love coming here. My only complaint is that their wait staff isn’t that friendly. The other Thai restaurants in town have them beat on customer service.

This was my first time going to this restaurant. The first woman who sat me at my table and took my order was very kind. The second woman who brought out my food, had a very different demeanor. I ordered the Kao Soi with tofu. When the order was brought out to me, I noticed that there was chicken instead of the tofu I ordered and moved the bowl away from me. When the second waitress came over, she asked what was wrong. I politely told her that I ordered tofu. She grabbed my bowl without saying a word, and took it to the back. When she returned a few minutes later, my bowl had less curry in it, but I could see the tofu so I began eating it. As I’m eating my meal I notice a texture that is unlike anything else in the bowl. I then realized that I ate a piece of chicken. I then found another small piece of chicken and put it on the napkin by my drink. When the waitress returned, I asked her if they just took the large chunks of chicken out of my order and put the tofu in. She assured me that they remade my order entirely, and that the chunks of chicken that I found must have just been from the pot the curry came from. So either I was lied to, and they never actually remade my order and just scooped the chicken out and missed some, or every order with this particular curry has chunks of chicken in it and which case that should be listed on the menu. I never send back food and if it were another dish with vegetables or tofu I would have ate my meal without complaining. I don’t eat meat and the way I was made to feel like I was the problem is disappointing. There was not a single apology from the waitress on the order and she was noticeably annoyed with me for saying anything.

Meat and seafood was cooked perfectly. Great shrimp and perfect noodles. The sai ua was a bit dry, but overall food was good.

First time dining, my son and I loved the atmosphere, service and especially the delicious food. Highly recommend!

I've been to Thailand twice and eaten at dozens of Thai restaurants in my life. I've also tried many Thai restaurants in along the sun coast and this is easily the best Thai restaurant in Sarasota. They accommodate vegan options and the quality is always very high. The staff is usually very friendly, but of course very busy.

Fantastic food !!

We got the panang curry, drunken noodles & fresh spring rolls. The peanut sauce that came with the rolls was not good, the rice portion was very small,, both entrees were well portioned & flavorful, curry could have been a little thicker

I’m really picked and selective when it comes to my Thai food. It’s a food type that I really enjoy and have hd my fair share first hand from Thailand. Back to this restaurant, it has a very native and authentic feel. I selected a red curry dish and Angela selected Pad Thai (my personal favorite). Both dishes were amazing and the hospitality was too notch.

If you’re in the mood for Thai food, definitely consider Isan Thai Restaurant!!!

It mystifies me how all the great reviews are here. The pad thai had zero heat when i ordered medium and it did not have anything close to the flavor I've had everywhere else. The drunken noodles had a distinct taste of anise and that has no business in this dish. This was the worst thai we've ever had, both a fallacy of composition and apparent dispassionate construction. On the upside the crab wonton was very good and portions generous - If you like wasting leftovers. Maybe the fried rice is better but we won't find out.
Server was very nice. We didn't mention anything to her.

We always enjoy good food and service.

I love Thai food, but I am usually a bit skeptical when it comes to eating it outside of Thailand, “same same, but different” if you know what I mean. However, this restaurant offers so delicious dishes, the portions are large (I had duck noodle soup and Somtam Korat ) amd is good. Also, the interior and the vibes are super pleasant and relaxing. I loved it, will definitely come back 🙏🙌

Very authentic Isan Thai taste. The Sai Grok sausages were especially nice. I was surprised to find an Isan restaurant in Sarasota and it didn't disappoint.

I’ve had better Thai food. Service was slow and just okay. I wouldn’t care for slow service if the food was good.

The papaya salad was okay - actually spicy so that’s good. I miss peanuts in papaya salad. It had eggplant in it which was unexpected.

Only thing I liked was the dumplings.

Curry? Noodles was too strong for my taste. The flavor was overpowering that it made it hard to finish the whole thing.

My husband regretted the steak. It was a fatty cut of steak and wasn’t cooked right. Kinda serves him right for ordering steak in a Thai place but he thought it was going to be served/cooked in a different way. He expected too much.

Normally very good. Not so much today. Service very slow.

Had the tom kha, fresh rolls and drunken noodles. Everything was great. Asked for the extra spices, the chili paste had great flavor and kicked the heat up a notch. Friendly and efficient staff. Will definitely come back to try some other dishes.

Really enjoyed the food from Isan Thai. Was pleasantly surprised by the authentic taste and lots of great options to choose from. I lived in Thailand for a few years and go back to visit regularly. The decor, friendly Thai staff and flavorful dishes all remind me of being in Thailand. Northern Thai food is comforting with lots of coconut based dishes. This place does it well.

The food here is always exceptional. However, if you order takeout, you may be waiting quite a while for your food. I would order well in advance to get your food in a timely manner. The manager has no people skills, so don’t bother asking for him :)

very impressive Thai taste

Sadly, I cannot write this review and award more than 3 stars. Not because the quality of the food did not meet expectations as we have dined here in the past and all three dishes were well prepared and delicious. The reason for only 3 stars is the rude greeting by the man stationed at the entrance. Instead of greeting customers politely, his only words uttered were," do you have a reservation ? " He then assigned a table without another word. Learn some people skills. One server was somewhat more friendly while the other server found it hard to speak a single word and seemed almost angry that she had to work. Not once did either server check to see if all was O.K. They did however refill water glasses. We will continue to dine at Isan, however it would be a more pleasant experience with a more cordial and welcoming staff. I hope the owner reads this.
