Casual eatery in a strip mall offering familiar Thai dishes & a classic selection of sushi.
It sounds like you had a pleasant dining experience. Enjoying good food and service can truly enhance a meal. A decent atmosphere adds another layer of enjoyment to the overall experience. It's always a pleasure to find a place that offers a well-rounded dining experience. Hopefully, you'll have many more enjoyable meals to come.
My husband was disappointed with his #57. Paht Thai. He said it was too sweet for his liking and had to add soy sauce. He did enjoy # 12. Gyoza and was pleased they steamed it and not fried. My # 7. Fried Calamari was cooked correctly. The 60. Paht Woon Sen was sweet as well and not savory, so I wasn't fond of that. But most disappointing of all was # 75. Crispy Pork Belly Paht Krapow. I did not realize it came in a sauce. Therefore causing the crispy part to be soggy and chewy and on top of that the first piece I was about to eat I noticed it still had hair on it. After seeing that I lost my appetite and not longer wanted to eat the 75. Crispy Pork Belly Paht Krapow . Definitely upset about that because 75. Crispy Pork Belly Paht Krapow cost $22!! I've had better Thai food while stationed in Germany!!!! I can't believe I spent $108 for food that lacked flavor!!!
Very impressed. The restaurant is in a small strip mall but man is it delicious. The food was very good, the service was good too. I loved that they had such a huge variety. No fault of their own when I went it was cash only because of the internet being down all over San Antonio so unfortunately I wasn’t able to try as much as I would had liked because I didn’t prepare to have to pay with cash. I was a little shocked at the $2 up charge for soy paper. I am allergic to seaweed so always have to sub and it’s usually only $1.00. However that would not change my opinion of how amazing the food tasted.
4.5 stars. It was my first time here. The service is fast, and the portions are huge. The restaurant fills up quickly, so be prepared. The staff is nice and friendly. They are expanding this spot to include hibachi, so that will be interesting. The food was pretty good, but I my dish didn't have enough duck for the up charge I paid. That was my only my complaint.

I am a Thai native, and I can confidently say that this Thai restaurant in San Antonio serves the best food. The authenticity of the flavors and textures is remarkable, making diners feel like they are in the streets of Thailand with every bite. Each dish perfectly balances the sweet, sour, salty, and spicy elements that define Thai cuisine, while maintaining perfect textures, from chewy noodles to crisp vegetables. The chefs' commitment to traditional techniques and ingredients shines through in every meal, creating an experience that's as close to eating in Thailand as one can get without leaving Texas. Whether you're a homesick Thai expat or a local foodie seeking genuine Thai flavors, this restaurant offers an unparalleled culinary journey that satisfies both the taste buds and the soul. It's not just a meal; it's a delicious slice of Thailand in the heart of San Antonio.
Thai Spice Sushi and Hibachi Grill is a hidden gem for those craving a fusion of Thai and Japanese cuisine. The pepper steak is a flavor explosion, perfectly cooked and seasoned to perfection. The cashew sauce drizzled on their entrees is a game-changer, adding a rich and nutty dimension to every bite. And let's not forget about their sweet tea - a Texan essential that perfectly complements the bold flavors of their dishes. If you are in the Live Oak area, definitely check out Thai Spice.
Only reason I’m taking a star away from the 5 is due to service. Maybe it was just a bad day for them, but it took over 15 min to be given any kind of attention to get our drinks at minimum. By the time a waiter came by, we were ready to order all together. Also, getting a refill for my husband took longer than it should have. It wasn’t until he kept looking around for our waiter that someone noticed and got their attention.
It was our first time. Food wise? Delicious! We both got a duck curry can’t recall the exact names. Las Vegas roll, 10/10. We would like to come back indeed! Hopefully service is a lot better from reading other peoples reviews.
Again, not a bad place we are just thinking maybe it was a bad day for them. We came for dinner on a Sunday evening.
I’ve been going here with my husband for 6 years and we love it! Our food comes out perfect everytime. The staff is so friendly and so helpful. I love that they all help out and we aren’t always waiting for our server they all help and serve. They do get really busy, but the food is always out in timely manner we aren’t left waiting for a long time. I love the new atmosphere and look of the place it’s amazing. I love seeing amazing businesses be able to expand thrive.
Their calamari and red curry is my absolute favorite!! This place is a must try, it’s our favorite Thai place!! And it’s reasonably priced.
Try the Tiger Cry! It will not disappoint.
Lunch specials are great and staff is always smiling. The food never disappoints either!
Love the place, the food, the environment in general. Very courteous staff and customer service. Good food and lots of it is served. Had a plate of fried crab rice and it is delicious 😋 😋
Will definitely go again to try other plates.
Very delicious and the atmosphere was super cute!!
This place does not disappoint. We have been going there for 5 years. Good service, better food.
Beef Phat Kaphrao served in Thailand is finely chopped and it adds to the uniqueness of the dish. Here, they attempt to serve it with sliced beef unless specifically asked otherwise, which they only offer ground beef. As if the leg work to prepare the dish properly is too much to ask. Oh, but it is, because for ground beef (still wrongly prepared), they charge extra!
I ordered something different and carried on about my meal.
But a note for the managers owners or cooks… do better. Some of us actually know what to expect when it comes to Thai dishes.
I had the beef salad (medium heat/spicy) with fried rice. Delicious!!!
Thai Spice has been my favorite restaurant for about two years now. Everytime I come in, I am greeted with friendly, welcoming faces. The service is excellent and the food is top tier, especially the Fiesta Roll and the Sesame Chicken
Is Meh a real rating? Morning to write home about... Food wasn't all that expensive but it also wasn't all that good either. There wasn't anything in particular that was bad necessarily but I also can't think of a single dish I really would go back for. Nice enough folks and the service was allright but I don't go to a restaurant strictly for service and company... That's what gentlemen's clubs are for... Kidding, but still, the food has to count for something right?

The food and staff at this location is great. They make really tasty spring rolls and Chicken with peanut sauce. One of my favorite places to eat.
The food tastes authentic and it's good. Thumbs up 👍
I love this place! We tried the #50 and #52, and WOW! If you order Thai hot, be ready for some serious heat!
The Texan Roll and Philly Roll were hits. Paired everything with a Kirin Ichiban and a Sapporo Light. Both were great choices.
For mains, the Green Curry with chicken and eggplant was rich and flavorful, and the Nua Nam Mun Hoy (beef in oyster sauce) was cooked perfectly.
The atmosphere is cozy and inviting. They’re also working on a hibachi space next door, but it’s still under construction as of July 2024. Can't wait to see it when it’s done!
Highly recommend this spot for great food and a friendly vibe.
The food was plentiful. I ordered sesame chicken. It was pretty good. I ordered a dinner special. The service was good. Very patient and polite.
Friendly staff and the food is very delicious here. I recommend trying this restaurant.
Duck fried rice is excellent
My husband and I came here for the first time and we ordered 2 appetizers and 2 entrees.
The appetizers were really good! We have the rice paper spring rolls and the cheese rolls.
We ordered the sesame chicken and chicken paht thai.
I enjoy paht thai and have never had a negative experience with it no matter where I went to get it.
When I tried it here the noodles were super mushy and the chicken was a little tough and it had an odor to it.. I don't know how to describe it.
I didn't like it so my husband offered to trade with me and he didn't like it either.
We've never sent back food before or asked a restaurant to take it off so I felt bad but also felt like they've be understanding.
We told them the issue and apologized and just said it seemed over cooked and asked if they could take it off.
Our server went to get the manager and she came to us and said "Excuse me, what's the problem? All Paht Thai is the same, no one has ever complained about it. Have you even had it before? Because nothing is different"
It just seemed very aggressive when I wasn't trying to be mean at all. And from the on the remainder of our service was a little bit rude. 🙁
Our server was a male, didn't get his name, but he was awesome! Took my family to lunch and he got everyones order exactly right and was friendly and professional. The food was great and had a great time with my family!
The curry was good but the noodle dishes had no flavor. Drunken noodles had no basil or sauce and were greasy.
I've been eating at this restaurant for over 6 years. I moved away to the valley and decided to come back and try it after they renovated. Much classier establishment now same people. Same quality food same atmosphere.
Very tasty!
Pad thai and pineapple fried rice are so good. This is our go to local thai spot. The quality and portions are solid. Service is friendly. Will be back again soon.
My wife and daughters went there twice and each time they were served water and forgotten about. Other customers were served but not my family. I'm not sure what's going on but might I suggest some employee training.
It's been a while since we ate there and it has changed ALOT... food is still very good, just smaller portions 😋 I am not a fan of the darker interior but that is just my personal preference...I still recommend this place for the food!
I came in for a to go order, it was my first time in this place, the man at the counter was very impatient and rude, patronizing me and looking at me like I'm dumb, he didn't speak English well and didn't understand what I was saying but tried to made me feel like I didn't know what I wanted. I saw him behave rude to other customers too, when he brought my order he just stood in front of me and handed me the food, no thank you no nothing, I was by the door and didn't bother to open the door for me since I had my hands full.
The food tasted ok but it was cold.
the lunch prices are very high, almost like dinner prices, an order for 3 was 87dlls!! lunch!
won't come back and do not recommend
They've remodeled and added more tables plus opened up the wall that between the two areas. It looks great. One issue, it is so very dark. Coming in from the TX 🌞 sun. I was blinded. My eyes didn't have time to adjust before they were whisking us off to our seat. While waiting for our food, I watched as each person that entered behind us ran into table after table. So it wasn't just me. This is an issue Thai Spice that you may want to correct before someone gets seriously hurt!!
Great food, but like everywhere getting pricey. It's my to go place for pad thai noodles
It was our first time here. We got the gyoza and tempura shrimp as appetizers and thom yum and paht Thai as the main dishes. Omg everything was SO SO delicious! Taste was authentic (reminiscent of when I was in Thailand) and I don’t think you can go wrong with whatever your order. Will definitely be back.
Food and atmosphere was amazing and comfortable. I had the green curry, green tea, and sushi which were all delicious. Also, Henry was the best part of the visit! He had amazing customer service skills and a great personality
Great food, reasonable prices, serves alcohol, service is always fast and friendly.
The service was mediocre the food on par and for some reason the fried rice, noodles, and even the calamari tasted like it had nutmeg or cinnamon sugar.
I don't plan on going back.
I like the San Antonio Roll what do you like?
I asked a Thom yum soup 🥣, but mild!
Either they don’t know what mild means or the waitresses gave a wrong order at the kitchen.
My lips are burning 🔥. I gave no tip for this!!!!
Looks like a good restaurant though. If you try it, double check the spicy 🥵 level!
Great dishes, reasonably priced!!
We had two refillable drinks, two appetizers, two meals, and two rolls.
Coke products but no Coke Zero.
Sweet tea was excellent, but no drinks to go.
Calamari and tempura shrimp were mediocre.
Katsudon with fried rice was dry and tasteless. Lemon chicken and fried rice was katsu chicken with lemon slices on it; so it was the same meal but differently plated.
Shaggy roll and tuna bomb were great! Actual tuna and plenty of caviar! The only things worth having.
The atmosphere was amazing!
The service was constant but nothing warranting a tip.
Because the meals were just ok and yet expensive I chose not to tip.
However, we were chased down for a tip. We were asked if anything was wrong with service; no, but nothing was great! If the MEAL was better than we probably would have tipped but that is my choice. Don’t chase customers down for a tip, try again, if your customer decides to return. It was almost a great experience.
Excellent service and food!!! We will 100% be going back.
I have been coming to this place for over 18 years and I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad experience. This place is awesome.
The food had no identifiable flavor/taste. I wish they would sell what they themselves would eat. There’s just no other Thai competition in the area so they get a lot of business regardless of being flavorless.
Me and my friend went there to celebrate my birthday so we ordered our food and appetizers and soup but while my friend eating the egg roll and soup she suddenly bit on something that cut the roof of her mouth and doesn’t stop bleeding so we took her to the nearest emergency room by schertz baptist hospital and they treated her and after they treated her wound stop bleeding, we went back to the restaurant to see what they did to our food and the manager said that they threw it away although the food wasn’t touched they didn’t just put it on to go container although we told them that we’re coming back and then they’re billing us for it. I just thought that bcoz my friend got injured with something from their food which we think it might be a piece of glass that’s in the soup that they didn’t even apologized to my friend and the manager gave her the bill although we didn’t even eat it all they concerned about is how they get paid, i think the manager seems heartless since she should be more emphatic towards my friend but they didn’t even apologized to my friend for her injury. Do you think that my friend had reserved the right to sue them or report the this restaurant to the department of health?
Food too salty.
Fantastic
Food was great big portions worth the price. if you are a party of 8 or more check your receipt if you pay separately. Gratuity is included but when the check was split the receipt didn’t reflect the 20 % gratuity included not until i did the math and realized the difference of $16 on bill. i don’t mind having tip included i just like to be aware so i dont feel scammed. i went back and they returned the cash tip we gave due to it being charged on both cards.
I used to go here before the renovation. Now that the renovation was over, I try the same foods I loved before, and they changed the recipe! The drunken noodles didn't taste like it was supposed to. It was more tomato-based rather than soy sauce-based. Also, the meat was rough and chewy. I can tell they overcooked it. The sushi was a little bit better, but there was so much rice. It also got more expensive. For that quality, the price isn't worth it. This sucks, but I won't come back.
For me being a very picky eater this restaurant was amazing. There service is phenomenal and I would definitely recommend
One of my favorites for san antonio
Get the cheese rolls and gyoza! Sometimes I’ll get their pad Thai or sesame chicken, but we always get the rolls and dumplings. And the tempura shrimp are delicious!!!! Weekly favorite
It was great, and our server was quick, polite. We just had to flag him down every time we needed something and that got old.
UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE. The below histamine description is what I just experienced at this restaurant from their Ikura Sushi. It was not fresh and it was warm and chewy. There was no good reaction from the staff of the complaint.
UNPROFESSIONAL.They left it on the table and just walked away with no apology, and started to talk about us. And then they ignored us until we were finally given our checks.
I had to run and get Benadryl from the histamine. The other sushi was good but they ruined our experience!!!
"Histamine is a biological compound that's naturally present in all fish, but at low levels. When fish are not properly refrigerated, bacteria can break down the fish's flesh and produce high levels of histamine, which can lead to foodborne illness. This condition is known as scombroid fish poisoning, or histamine fish poisoning.
The restaurant was recently remodeled and it looks fantastic
Very impressed. The restaurant is in a small strip mall but man is it delicious. The food was very good, the service was good too. I loved that they had such a huge variety. No fault of their own when I went it was cash only because of the internet being down all over San Antonio so unfortunately I wasn’t able to try as much as I would had liked because I didn’t prepare to have to pay with cash. I was a little shocked at the $2 up charge for soy paper. I am allergic to seaweed so always have to sub and it’s usually only $1.00. However that would not change my opinion of how amazing the food tasted.
I love Thai Spice and now even more it’s their renovations. The food is amazing. I especially love the Penang curry and Pad Woonsen which is what I had today. Delicious and great service
The gyoza is 🤌🏼 perfection! We are always satisfied with our sushi rolls. The new remodel looks incredible as well!! Makes me miss our time in Okinawa and always satisfies our cravings!

Have been dining here since it opened many years ago. I have noticed since the expansion the service is not quite as good as it used to be with many new servers. The food is consistently excellent.
Miso Ramen - absolutely horrific. It’s not miso ramen. Has cabbage in it?
Gang panang - edible maybe for a homeless person.
Drunken Noodle - sent back. Not edible. Not even for mice to eat. It was soooooo bad. Didn’t taste anything like drunken noodles. Old vegetables. Gross.
White Rice - best thing on the menu. Fresh.
Service - sucked. Had to repeat orders. Appetizer comes after entree. Near closing time, they turn on all the lights, changing the ambience, while there were at least a dozen tables still dining.
Expensive. Not worth it
5 Star everytime we walk in off the street for sushi. Service is excellent. If you are hesitant to come, don't be. Its worth every calorie. I have never had a bad bite, and always the sashimi is fresh and scrumptious!
UPDATE 7/3/2024: Remodeled dining room is gorgeous. Really makes the overall experience fantastic. Prices on point, new sushi rolls to tantalize, very tasty menu. Service was spot on and perfect waiter attentive. Very pleased.
Price of food keeps going up, but still good food
I have always enjoyed this restaurant but after today will not be returning. Pad Thai was not as good as it used to be but when served with a lime that didn’t look great and after I used poor judgement in squeezing over the dish it did not taste as it should. Very busy but asking a paying customer to leave after their meal because they are busy is rude. Maybe they need to finish their expansion before they start asking people to leave.
Great food and service. My favorite thai food in San Antonio
Me and my family have been coming here for years and they never ever disappoint! Everything is so delicious and savory, my favorite is the crispy pork belly Krapow and I love that after all these years the Thai tea is always In a super big cup😂
Came in for the first time with a group of ladies from my church.
Service was excellent! Tik took care of us and helped make menu recommendations for my first time. Lots of affordable lunch options including sushi. Another gentleman tended to our table multiple times as we finished plates and bowls. He even took care of our refills! Not sure if he was another waiter or the busser, but our man never missed a beat.
Went with green curry and asked to have it made Thai hot. This was very satisfactory! I love heat and they certainly delivered robust flavor and ample portions.
Restaurant had a very warm and inviting atmosphere. Very fine establishment.
Hope to be making a return trip soon. Thank you Thai spice for a phonemonal lunch! Best surprise I've had food-wise in some time.
Food has always been great. HOWEVER the service we got last time I went (6/8/24) with my family was very poor. It was for a birthday celebration. We had a male Asian server who appeared bothered and rushed to take our order. It was very off putting, not sure what his problem was or why he is working a server job if he seems to hate serving people. I have been here many, many times and the ladies working there have always been so nice and attentive. If I go again I will not sit in his section.
Great service and food. Very inexpensive lunch specials that are fulfilling. Can't wait until they finish up their expansion of the hibachi grill.
Delicious😋😋
Excellent meal. I had Cashew Chicken with Fried Rice. The soup was very flavorful
Food is good. Mine was delicious 😋
Always a great place to eat Thai food.
Our favorite casual Thai restaurant in the Sam Antonio area for many years! Consistently good! Great staff!!!
Went back just for the yellow curry! Shared various dishes with friends and everything is always great. Tonight our server was super knowledgeable and friendly.
A highly recommended restaurant, the food is very good. I heard they're expanding next door, and I'm looking forward to seeing what it looks like. I'll definitely be back

Again, not a bad place we are just thinking maybe it was a bad day for them. We came for dinner on a Sunday evening.
Everything is great!
Love this place! Came here a few months ago during lunch and it was a great experience! So last night me and my husband came by for dinner and it was absolutely delicious! The wait staff is so attentive here and they have a lot of good vegan options! I had the tofu pad kee mao and me and my husband enjoyed some saki. We also got the vegetable spring rolls! Love this place! Will definitely be back.
Best Thai food I’ve ever had! The Phat Thai is superb and if you like curry, the Gang Panang is amazing!
1st time visit, located in the Forum mall, restaurants going through a renovation. It would be nice to re-visit when renovation is done. Maybe that's why they had paper menus not in color. It was hard to see what the images were. Ordered the spring rolls, the dipping sauce should have been paired with something else, it wasn't tasty (maybe acquired taste). The sushi was delicious, and the chicken w/fried rice was a great portion enough to share. Parking limited during certain hours, we went at dinner at 630pm and still had to park towards the back of the parking lot.
Love this place, great food and staff
Excellent lunch served hot by a very attentive staff. Really liked it!
Went to get Thai. It was so good and the service was fast . Our waitress was very happy n kind. Really enjoyed our lunch. Will be back for sure
The food was graciousness and quickly served. The prices have remained consistent, but the portions have been reduced to balance the increase in prices. Overall- amazing customer care. Looking forward to returning.
Go there often
Yummy place to get Thai and Japanese dishes. Prices are reasonable too.
Got the incorrect dish on take out but still great flavor. Quick service as always!
Unfortunately i have to leave 2 stars. The service was very good and the restaurant is nice but the food itself is not what i hoped. I ordered spicy ramen. I received a tubs worth of mixed veggies (mostly cabbage and peas? Never seen in any ramen I’ve ever had before) and 4 pieces of overcooked pork. Other vegetables were carrots and some kind of clear veg i couldn’t bite through. You like your ramen Hugh’s runny/soft? Nope they told me over cooked is “how they make it”. Flavor is okay but if you want real ramen, just go somewhere else.
Always wonderful!
Great food, a little slow with the service, but they may have been short the day I went. Lunch special will run you $10 and ends at 1 I believe. It's worth a stop if you're near the forum.
Good place to sit down and enjoy some delicious food
Was visiting and stopped for lunch. Very welcoming and service was great. Food was average to our taste.
5 stars
The food is fantastic every time. I'm getting my husband to try more dishes, and he is happy every time.
Really good food. Just a regular restaurant atmosphere- willing to please waitstaff.
Food is always good. Service is great, sometimes they are busy. Be patient..
I've had several different meals, all perfect.
Always busy.... very popular
Excellent!
We have been coming since they opened and still love it! The staff is so friendly and always get our order right.
Good Thai food and servers are always very friendly. Dining area always seems well kept. Atmosphere is calming with background music at appropriate lvl to have conversations and still enjoy the sound. Some dishes do seem to be overly sweet vs other Thai, but for the vast majority it is spot on traditional Thai fare.
I like curry and they have curry. A match made in heaven.
Food was great. I was feeling a little under the weather but the Thai noodle soup with some extra spicy help tons.
Great Thai food, spice Thom yummy and Thom gha Kai is fantastic, and comes with rice! Also the duck fried rice is incredible, full of flavor even 2 days later. And the sushi is quite flavorful, rolls are great sized. Never ever disappointed
Like you have to wait for your table waitress to give you any service , ignore by rest
The combo fried rice was very delicious!
Always a go to spot for lunch they dropped back down there prices so worth it. Always friendly and the food is on point.
Thai Spice has upgraded its booths & wall pictures! Lol! I love to look at the beautiful Asian themes as we eat their always perfectly prepared dishes. The waitresses are always responsive & check on us without hovering. We have been here several times, & will definitely come again!
Sehr sehr lecker dort, der Kellner/Chef? Willis war super nett und freundlich, war ein cooler Typ.
Great food always hits the spot!
Best Thai Food in central Texas .. 🔥
I found a great place for Thai food
Food was very good and great service
They have a variety of lunch specials, sushi, etc. and the price is right!
Love the Yum Nua there. Husband had the Sizzling Seafood and enjoyed it as well.
