Thai staples like curries & noodles plus lunch specials are served at this sunny restaurant.
We popped in randomly after watching a movie across the street. The restaurant looked basic so we didn't have many expectations.
However we were very pleased with the quality of their main entres. The red curry chicken and flavors are not what you get out of a bottle. The pineapple fried rice was also very tasty. And the Tom kha gai soup flavors were very well balanced.
The tempura ice cream was very nice. It was a large Ball but the flavor was very nice and went well with the ice cream.
The tiramisu should be skipped. Don't bother ordering it. Not sure why we did at a Thai restaurant. It was still very Frozen and more like a cake
Don't be fooled by the unassuming exterior, this restaurant packs a punch. The drunken noodles were fantastic.⭐ 5 ⭐ I chose the vegetable option and they were delicious. Silky smooth noodles in a savory sauce with an excellent bite. Fresh, crisp vegetables in the dish as well. The menu gives a 2 🌶️🌶️ spice warning but it wasn't very hot.
Good sized portions, fills 1 American / 2 other nationalities. My party enjoyed their Pork pad Thai, Chicken Tom Kai Gai, and Flaming Beef as well.
Service was excellent, prompt staff, with modest wait times.
The atmosphere/decor won't win awards, but who cares, you're there for the food anyways, right? 😉
I like trying Tom Kah soups of Thai restaurants to understand their seasoning. Overall, their seasoning is fine, just think they might overdo a couple of things. My dishes were fine but not fantastic. It is a solid spot if you are in the area. Service was fast and friendly, prices were reasonable. I wanted a hot tea and even though they didn't have the one I wanted they hooked me up with a nicer one!
Good food. Even better drinks! We loved the lychee mixed drink and the purple one my friend had was not bad either. The appetizers we had were absolutely wonderful! The entrees were good. The service we had was kinda weird, but once the guy started helping us service was better.
The food here was excellent - wanted to try something new so started with the yum woonsen talay appetizer which was a cold seafood salad with cellophane noodles. It did not disappoint! I recommend that if you want to try a new appetizer. It’s not too heavy either so perfect to save your appetite. For my entree, I got the Massaman yellow curry with tofu and it was a good portion, comes with plenty of jasmine rice. My friend was raving about the salmon. The Thai tea and Thai coffee are also good here.
The service was quick, friendly, and helpful. I was surprised at how few people were there during lunchtime.
Hidden gem within DC that's not well-known but serves delicious and authentic Thai food with perfect portions and incredibly kind staff. The space is cozy with some great options.
Their Pad Thai has a little bit of a crispy flavor that other places are lacking and this was a highlight of the meal. Their Massaman Curry is full of flavor and their Eggplant Tofu was also delicious. Their fried banana and ice cream was not what I'm used to, as their fried bananas came in thin tubes, but the food still tasted good.
Only downside is that they have disposable chopsticks and cups for water.
Unassuming but delicious. The first thing I appreciated upon walking in was that everyone greeted us. The portions were hefty and the food was served quickly. The service was great; staff checked on us often and were very kind.
It was cold in the dining room but the food was piping hot and delicious.
The best pad thai I've ever had! And the service was really good. Just a little spicy

They made the pad thai vegetarian and it was so tasty and had no funky smell. So many places will just phone it in when you ask for pad thai to be made vegetarian and will just not use any sauce, leaving you with dry noodles or it’ll still smell like meat/fish. This dish tasted fresh and they weee generous with the tofu.
Best Thai food in the area!!
Pad Thai is the best
The best Thai restaurant in DC.
So glad to have delicious Thai restaurant .The favors authentic and so many option on the menu.Definitely going back.
My favorite Thai resto in DC. The staff is nice and the service was great. The food is also delicious.
This is the worst service we’ve experienced in DC by far. The staff are not polite from the moment we got there. They took a long time before to got our orders. But we understand because there were so many customers. Finally, when the staff got our orders, he was hurrying and did not bother to repeat our orders to make sure that everything is correct. One of our orders was not served to us. That’s fine, we let it slide. Then, when the bill came, the missing order was still indicated there. At first, I did not check the bill because I trusted that it was accurate. When I was about to sign the bill, I noticed the error. I called the staff to explain to him what went wrong then the staff blamed me for not checking the bill. Unbelievable! The situation could have been handled better. The staff made us feel that we owe him something by helping us in correcting the check. The damage has been done. Never going back here again.
We stopped by this restaurant not having checked out their reviews for a quick lunch and ended up thoroughly enjoying it. We ordered the Masaman curry, basil fried rice and Kao Soi (without the kimchi). My Asian boyfriend is very picky about his curries and he endorsed the flavor of the curry and fried rice here. The Masaman was rich from he coconut flavor but not so much as to overpower the tangy undertastw of the curry. The basil fried rice was fresh, herby and just enough spice. - I thoroughly enjoyed it. The kao soi broth was addicting, punchy and flavorful with mild coconut flavor (just the way I like it), the vegetables were crunchy and retained their vibrant colors.
If you want a cozy ambiance, this is not your restaurant. The tables are laid too close to each other and the place is buzzing during rush hour. However if you want delicious Thai food, this is absolutely the place to be.
Just this year, they raised their prices by 25% and the quality does not match. The cups were plastic, and the pad thai tasted like ketchup— one of the worst I’ve ever had. Additionally, when we asked for hot water they claimed to not have that available and that they only sold tea; with no other choice, we ordered tea for $4 each and they brought out cups of hot water and tea bags. This felt like shady price gouging because honestly what kind of restaurant doesn’t have just hot water for their customers? The ambiance was poor and the restaurant did not feel clean either. Not worth the $180 price tag for 5 people. Will not be returning.
pretty good Thai, but utensil had something on it... I just scraped it off.
Delicious green curry! Highly recommend this dish if you can handle a little bit of spice.
Tbh i dont like every single dish i got, not the best one khao soi noodle is not the way it is and way tooo sweet. Papaya salad feels like just salad not the thai taste at all
I came here to eat when visiting the national mall. I enjoyed my food and the waitress was nice. I had some kind of garlic broccoli dish.
👍🏽💥💥💥
Authentic Thai food with incredible customer service. If you done in, you will receive loving care and food cooked to your liking! The music is peaceful! Definitely recommend!
I recently dined at absolute Thai, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The ambiance was inviting, with a warm and cozy atmosphere that made it perfect for a relaxed meal. The service was top-notch—attentive without being intrusive.
The menu offered a diverse selection of dishes, and everything we tried was delicious. The pad Thai was particularly outstanding, with fresh ingredients and bold flavors that really stood out. The dessert was a delightful end to the meal, beautifully presented and absolutely scrumptious.
Overall, absolute Thai exceeded my expectations in every way. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a great dining experience. I’ll definitely be returning!
Truly my favorite pad Thai in DC! Not too salty and the sauce is perfect. This is the only Thai place I order from now!
This place rocked, crispy duck was really tasty
Received my food in 7 mins after ordering. I was served a well made, delicious meal
Service is butt, would not recommend. The food is decent tho
I was visiting for the day and I was looking at the ramen place down the block because I been there before and loved it. But I was thinking let me check this thai place. I haven't had Thai in a long time and the menu looked good. There was nobody inside so I figured the service would be quick no matter what. Loved the food. It was delicious. Would totally come back
Maybe I was unlucky on my order but I ended up receiving one of the worst food deliveries ever through Uber deliveries. I am travelling on my own for work and was looking forward to the food. What I got was p**s poor!!!
The starter was good but the main course was rotten! Bin trash rotten. Dry, no curry sauce, too spicy (and I like spicy), poor amount of chicken . Plus on top no utensils so despite requesting same.
In total this is a zero rated review by me.
Worst pad Thai I’ve had in my entire life, including frozen meals. Shockingly bad.
best authentic thai restaurant we ever been and the people are really nice!
Amazing green curry and tempura ice cream. The staff was very respectful.
Very bad service, they don’t even have dinner plates and real glasses. Food is ok but their attitude and service is bad, don’t expect plastic glass for drinks and dinner
This small business has been at this location for years. They create very fresh and flavorful traditional Thai dishes.
Food lacked flavor in general. The other problem was extremely small portions and relatively high prices. Unfortunately not a happy eating experience
Came all the way from New York,
The food looked promising on the menu but it was horrible.
The soup is real good I’ll give that one, but the actual entree menu is absolutely horrendous
1/5
Staff, Servers were annoying, they kept coming to our table like every 3 minutes and wouldn’t let us talk.
1/5
Walk off the street in DC and into a restaurant in Thailand. They had a great selection of delicious, authentic food. Especially loved the duck in sweet/hot red curry, and the Tom ka soup. Thanks Absolute Thai, Keep it spicy :)
Wonderfully delicious! It made me think of my time in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
I would take a picture of my food but I finished it too quick!! Very very good and highly flavorful! I am impressed!!
Such a shady place in the middle of a construction site.
There was hair in the food.
The waiter was a teen that was making weird faces.
Super unprofessional mom and pop resteraunt.
I wish the pad see ew was tastier for the price.. very nice service but hoping for an improvement on the recipe!
Food was so good, service was fast, and I loveeee the Thai iced tea 10/10
Well, I ordered green curry, tom yum vegetable soup, and garden spring rolls. I put a special note asking for the green curry to made *extra* spicy and that I loved spicy and oh boy did they deliver. Weild caution making such requests haha but I've loved it. I got it with tofu, and for the record, love too how they made the tofu, it's super tasty,
As for the veggie rolls, I found the rice paper wrapper thicker than what I'm used to, a bit gummy, and the peanut sauce--while having more texture than most others--def erring on the, "too sweet," end for me,
The soup tasted like it was made with some sort of oyster or fish sauce, not saying that happened (and I'm not vegetarian despite how I'm presenting) and I didn't particularly like that myself, but seriously still good. That was less spicy than I was expecting. Regardless, all in all...Really good!!! I'd recommend this joint.
Not fancy but good food at reasonable prices. Tom yum soup was tasty!
Excellent food - my wife loved the Massaman curry. While slightly cramped, absolutely worth a visit.
Amazing massaman curry and fried rice! Definitely will be back when in the area.
Served me raw pork and then gave me attitude when I didn’t want to pay for the new substitution with properly cooked meat.
I ordered red curry, and what I got was jalapeno water sprinkled with five spice and some chicken floating in it. It is hard to he this bad. Even if they had stirred some store-bought red curry paste in water (not even coconut milk or cream), it would have been closer to a real curry. If you're forced to eat here, the rice was good.
The food here was horrible! The Pad Thai chicken was extremely greasy and tasted old. Also, The prices online do not match. Definitely ask to verify prices. I would not recommend it. The Pad Thai tasted like old lo mein.
The food was delicious. The fried shrimp egg rolls is a must try! The waiter was great. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
I ordered via GrubHub, and while my order arrived super late and cold, I wasn’t able to eat it because there was a foreign object (some type of gravel rock pieces) in my food. GrubHub refunded my money but needless to say I won’t be eating with this establishment again or recommending it to anyone.
Just had lunch here. I had pad Thai for lunch. The food was good for a fair price.
A pleasant experience!
Delicious food and inviting atmosphere! The friendly staff created a homely feel, always ready to chat and make friends. Outstanding service, especially from Myer!
I like trying Tom Kah soups of Thai restaurants to understand their seasoning. Overall, their seasoning is fine, just think they might overdo a couple of things. Absolute Thai is the perfect spot for anyone attending an event at Capitol One Arena, Shakespeare Theatre Company or Woolley Mammoth Theater Company as it is closeby. It is one of the few eateries in Chinatown that is truly wheelchair accessible. There is no accessible door button but the staff did help open the double doors and there is a ramp to enter. There is a table for 4 and table for 2 with removeable chairs on one side and a booth on the other. The restrooms are wheelchair accessible as well. All the food and drink was delicious! I would highly recommend it!
注文したものが良くなかったのか、唐辛子マーク1つで激辛でした。全体的に味が濃すぎて、ケチャップとかも使いすぎです。米国人向けの味付けなのでしょうが、タイ料理の元々の味をもう少し残してほしかった。
Good food. Even better drinks! We loved the lychee mixed drink and the purple one my friend had was not bad either. The appetizers we had were absolutely wonderful! The entrees were good. The service we had was kinda weird, but once the guy started helping us service was better.
Not worth the price at all. The noodles are all stick together, can barely take a bite without having the hole plate on my fork. Also, no veggies. Just pasta and some tofu pieces, that’s definitely not a pad thaï. I highly recommend to NOT go there.
Beyond awful broccoli lunch dish, asked for spice and got none. Seriously up there as one of the worst Asian dishes I've ever had. I'm sure they have other good stuff here, but the broccoli lunch dish wasn't it.
The quality and taste of the food is horrible. The chicken is smelly!
Ordered from door dash, Pad See Ewe, not spicy. The dish is flavorless other than being so spicy my mouth has been on fire since my second bite. Worst pad see ewe I've ever had. The banana rolls were good.

Good authentic food.
It was takeout. Got their paneng curry and it was delicious. They don’t give you options for spice levels but for a normal person it’s the perfect level of spice. It was ready to go right when walked it.
Some of the best Thai food I've ever had!!! So tasty, hot, fresh DELICIOUS!!! The Larb Gai appetizer and Thai Iced Tea ABSOLUTE favorites!!! First time coming here but I'll try to get back again!!
Good food, great service. Will definitely go back to this place to eat, and we also met a billionaire having dinner here with his family. So it's obviously a great place to eat.
I recently dined at Absolute Thai Restaurant, and it was a delightful experience. The Thai cuisine was authentic and bursting with flavors. The service was efficient and courteous. I highly recommend trying their chicken wings and red curry. I will definitely be returning for more Thai culinary delights. 👌🍛🥢
My go to Thai place. I love the green curry fried rice.

Good food; however, it took 15 minutes after I was seated for the waiter to show up and another 30 minutes on top of that for my order to arrive.
Good choices on the menu, good food and very nice servers
This was our first time eating here. Food was good. The fresh rolls were good. The pad Thai and pineapple fried fried were good. But the potpourri shrimp rice was phenomenal.
Just went here for the first time this week and it was terrific! Excellent amount of both heat and flavor. Red curry and drunken noodles we had were both delicious were the fresh garden roll appetizer. Our server was wonderful - excellent service and he was super nice and gave great suggestions for our dinner. Definitely going back!!
Always great food and excellent service.
Ordered via UberEats. Chicken satay was inedible, tasted like rubber. Disappointing fried rice.
Food is expensive and not as good in taste.
The food here was excellent - wanted to try something new so started with the yum woonsen talay appetizer which was a cold seafood salad with cellophane noodles. It did not disappoint! Ordered the pad pri king pork. Pork was bad smelled, and taste bad. Chewy and had an off flavor. The spring roll was really bad too not fresh at all.
Everything else was great service and atmosphere. From other reviews it seems this may have been a fluke.
The food was delicious! I got the garden rolls - tasted fresh and with delicious peanut sauce. I also got “Jungle” which was soooo good. I got it with the seafood, hoped for more seafood though. The spice and flavors were all perfect, I ate it all! The roasted duck was tender and juicy.
Wait staff is very nice, food (Masuman Curry) tasted great and overall I left satisfied! Food is on the pricey side, but you usually get enough to make 2 meals so that helps a lot.
Best service I've had in years. The food was just as good. Very fresh. And filling.
Came here and had a great dinner! The staff was friendly and attentive! Portions were huge.
good food, friendly helpful staff.
Vegetarian friendly Thai. Loved the food here. Definitely will be coming back for more Kao Soi. It was fantastic. We also ordered veg puffs & red curry which were very good. Service was amazing, we went just before they were closing but the wait staff did not rush us at all and waited patiently without hurrying us. A must visit in if you are in China town.
This place has Great food and sets a great vibe the food comes quickly if you have kids who don't eat anything and are to picky they're fried rice is great
Mediocre thai food, looks like it's cooked mass scale and then divided over smaller portions, definitely not a great thai food restaurant. Som tum was not spicy(according to menu it should have been) and very salty, it had 2 tiny pieces of tomato and 4 half bean pieces LOL, kao pad was fatty and no herbs were added at all, tasted more like Chinese food as Thai. This comes from a Thai person .
Delicious. Our server coursed our meal out so we could enjoy our time eating. Flavor and options super authentic and yummy.
Spicy Crispy Chicken was hella good. Especially for picky eaters!!! The soup/sauce you get with it is to dye for!!!
Came here before the Paramore concert and the food was AMAZING! Excellent and fast, friendly service. Highly recommend
Good food except for an undercooked chicken skewer. Service was friendly. Table was not wiped down, it was sticky and was very worn.
Quaint restaurant with great service and good food
Outdoor seating is a bit loud from the street.
Great meal, great people! Met the owner, lovely family living right nearby, always love supporting local small businesses. Food was absolutely smashing, great selection and the prices were definitely worth it. Inside atmosphere was definitely inspired and wait times were low during the lunch rush.
Pad Thai tastes like it was made by a person with no taste buds. Ka Prao chicken had chicken with texture of meat you don’t want to consume. Average Thai food. Only in business because of proximity to capital one arena.
Great place to go before any Cap One Arena event. They will deliver on extra spice if you ask!
You walk in the the restaurant smells and feels stuffy. The Tom Yum soup lacks the fresh sourness from lemongrass. Probably made out of paste. Not fresh. The crispy duck is uninviting. Very disappointing.
Loved the food! Great dinner spot close to the Capital One Arena.
Food wasn’t made right I asked for spice food was bland & mushy
Small place, but the food quality is good. Pretty pricey, but may be in the norm
Love, love, love this restaurant! Adorable space and DELICIOUS food!
Everything was good, the food, the service, the restaurant and employee offered to pay for Thai iced tea.
Best Thai ice tea, food really good, and comes quick.
Got Pad Thai delivery. It was not edible. The Pad Thai was grainy - how I imagine it would taste if sand was mixed in. I’m not sure how that would happen but it was a waste of $30 delivery I couldn’t eat it.
Good Thai food. Not exceptional but good enough
Friendly servers and fast service. That said, the portions were just OK, not overly generous, and quite overpriced. The $8 Tom Yum Gai soup was an in an especially small bowl. It was spicy but watery, sparse and overpriced. The Garden Rolls were mostly lettuce and vermicelli. Not much taste. Even the hot tea was $4 for a tea bag.
Came in for lunch. You will be happy if you want to get in and get out and enjoy good food. Ambiance and service are just ok.
My best friend and I stopped here after the basketball game since she had been wanting to try the place. The food is alright definitely not the best Thai food I have had. I got the chicken wontons as an appetizer which I don’t recommend cause it isn’t have any flavor. And we both had the basil fried rice which was decent.
Great place! I usually order to go so can’t comment on the ambiance, but have never been disappointed by the food.
Excellent food here, not all dishes are perfect but all the major entrees we ordered are excellent. Pad Thai, Basil fry rice, very delicious. One of the best Thai food I ever had.
Food was fantastic. Flavorful and tasty and well portioned for the price.
100%
We had a group of about 10 people, and ordered and ate family style. Everyone loved nearly everything. I personally loved the Panang Curry, and others loved the Spicy Eggplant tofu.
The drinks were also great, and the staff was attentive and so kind.
Food was De Lish US! Drunkn noodles, pineapple fried rice, crispy chicken are can't misses! In the shadow of the Verizon Center so parking is tight but worth the effort
Food was delicious, staff was friendly. Perfectly comforting and warm food to complement the chilly weather outside. 10/10 would recommend!
Food was quick, service was good. Great appetizer options for a small taste, too.
Great down to earth restaurant. Pad see ew was very fresh and high quality - unlike a lot of places where it is dry, and only partially covered in soy. Probs the best pad see ew I've had in DC.
Staff are extremely kind, good people. Like 'I wish I was rich so I could leave a huge tip' kind and good people.
TLDR good food and great people.
Great Authentic Thai Cuisine!
Customer service was terrific!
Highly recommended 👌
Amazingly flavorful food and wonderful, quick service. Very clean and enjoyable atmosphere. Highly recommend
This was so delicious!! I ordered the Green Wonton soup and the Spring Rolls. Both were hot and fresh and sooo good! I will 100% order again
This place was terrible. Curry had a long hair in it, pad Thai tasted like ketchup. Tom kha gai was pure fish sauce. Avoid.
Delicious food and great customer service.
Location was great. Staff was great. I ordered pad Thai, which wasn't so great. The lunch special was 16 dollars and does not come with any drinks or spring rolls. The food is not worth your money.
ThevThai version of a greasy spoon. Except more expensive and nowhere near authentic. No reason to return with so many other places nearby.
