Food was excellent. They were really busy with takeout orders and it seemed there were only two people working the back so it took a bit of time to get our food. Normally this wouldn’t be a problem but we were trying to catch a show at the movie theater down the street, and we cut it very close.
I will definitely be going again, and if eating in I’ll just budget more time.
After some shopping in the area, my mom and I were craving Thai and decided to try a new place. When we opened the menu, we were super excited to discover Samui is the sister restaurant to our usual go-to, Bangkok Room in Ansonia! We were met with the same quality in food and service that we know and love. The beef pan fried and the pad Thai were delicious. I will definitely return when I find myself in the area wanting Thai!
Worst Thai in CT I've tasted so far. I loveThai coconit soup and was severely dissappointed. It was litarally hot water I was drinking. The Param Noodles was the most underwhelming dish I've had in ages. Friendly service nice atmosphere, but you can't eat that. SMH
Overall their food is very good in quality and flavor but my family member got served a raw chicken wing last time we came. Besides that one instance, every dish we ordered was delicious and authentically Thai. The atmosphere is very comforting with Thai decor and low lighting. Also I hate to say it but the service is not very good. I know the staff is trying very hard to manage the business, but I always either get served something I didn’t order, don’t get served something I did order, or can’t find any staff when I need something. If the service was up to par I would give it 5 stars.
Such a treat on a Friday night! Great food, small casual dining with good service!, terrific menu
!
Always fresh and delicious.
Great Food and Good Service

Incredible Thai food. Dine in or take out. This place is a gem. The coconut soup comes out piping hot and is amazing. If you like Thai, give them a try.

I highly recommend this place. We mostly do take out. The portions are generous and delicious. The only Asian restaurant in Southbury that makes good pad thai.
Delicious food and very nice service
Excellent Thai food, wouldn’t go anywhere else in the area. 10/10 every time.
Excellent lunch specials. Everything is tastes great and is so fresh.
Worst service !
Consistently good with great portions. One of my favorite restaurants in Southbury (and neighboring towns too)
Love this place!!!
The food maybe too sweet to me. If the Thai chicken wings Could be marinaed ahead it will be 10 out of 10
Nice, good food for a balanced diet.
Water dripping inside form the ceiling.
This restaurant is amazing!!! Beautiful interior and food. 😊
Pad Thai- last night of restaurant week. Ordered their $25 special. Portions very big. Too gooey for my taste. Shrimp overdone & small. Meal just ok. Plum wine nice.
I’ve been here a few times and it was always very good. We dined in there last weekend and it was a busy Saturday. They seemed to be short staffed and it wasn’t as clean as it usually is. We ordered spring rolls and two entrees. When we ate our spring rolls we found a chewed up plastic toothpick IN THE ROLL. I could’ve choked on this. And it was absolutely disgusting. We didn’t make a scene even in a full restaurant. The waitress came over and I showed her what was in our spring rolls. She took the chewed up toothpick and seemed stunned. We obviously didn’t want to eat our main course since our stomachs were turning but again once the meals came out we sifted through them and picked at them. When the bill came would you believe the spring rolls that had a CHEWED UP PLASTIC TOOTHPICK that we didn’t cause a scene about was on the bill?!?!? We told the waitress we were not paying for them and she again seemed puzzled. No apology the entire time.
Good luck eating there. Never again.
Solid four-star neighborhood Thai restaurant. Food was reasonably priced, tasty and generous portions. Staff friendly and efficient.
Love the lunch specials! The dining room is quaint and cozy. A great way to take a break in the middle of the day.
Wonderful food fresh and delicious.
Tried Shrimp on the Beach ⛱️ and Crisly Pad Thai noodles (special). Excellent flavors and textures!! Will definitely return. 💯
Disappointing meal. Seems like the place has lost its mojo. (and no, mojo isn't on the menu).
I ordered some pho to go, for my beautiful girlfriend and me. Everything was well packaged and the taste was excellent

I took my daughter here for dinner. We had a really nice time. Quiet relaxing place. Good food. Good service. I will definitely come back again. Thank you!
This is our favorite place. Menu is labeled for gluten free. They have the best pad thai!
I came to Samui with friends and it did not disappoint in the slightest. The service was friendly and met with lightheadedness. The selection of food was a bit overwhelming but I'd rather many options than too little. When the food and drinks arrived i was stunned by how everything was beautifully plated and then i took the first bite and I am pretty sure I shook the hand of an ancient Thai food god of taste buds. The food was made with endearment and each bite was a love letter to Thai food. One of, if not my favourite Thai cuisine that I've had in CT. Please go check them out if you're in the area!
Great service and food.
Reasonable prices with a good amount provided on your plate.
Well plated and pleasing to the eye as good as it tastes
Great fresh food and friendly staff you can tell they care about what they put out. Dining in or taking out.
always a great meal whether dining in or take-out. consistent food everytime.
Fast friendly service, good food reasonably priced
As you can see I ❤️ this place! Vegan friendly. BYOB. They do serve beer and I think wine in the restaurant. If that's not your thing the Thai iced tea is phenomenal!
Great for a date night or takeout.
Before I went vegan, I used to eat either their duck or chicken curry. I've tried all the colors and the crispy duck special and you can't go wrong. It just depends on what mood, spice, and veggie preference. If you are a fan of duck this place knows how to cook it deliciously.
I went plant based over the summer and can still get their delicious curry I just order whichever I want with tofu instead.
No changes needed for my favorite appetizer the spring rolls.
Went there for lunch. They have a nice lunch special menu that comes with soup and an appetizer with your meal. The soup was delicious! However I asked if they could make what I ordered spicy, some dishes are noted as spicy but what I selected wasn't. I was told they could but unfortunately they didn't. I'll just have to try something different next time because I will go back.
An excellent meal! All generous portions, Tom Yum had plenty of mushrooms and shrimp (3) with a nice tang too it. Chicken Satay was tender and both sauces were great. Drunken Noodle was delicious, I will be back!
Even though we specifically mentioned gluten allergy and ordered gluten-free items they gave us tofu which had gluten (fried). This caused stomach issues for my family.
UPDATE: 8/8/22: Tried ordering dinner for delivery and it was an hour late! I deducted 2 stars for such a horrible experience. Def. dine-in or pick up.
8/3/22: Consistently good Thai food with friendly attentive service. The portions are so large that you also have lunch for the next day! Try the Thai chicken wings! We ❤️ Samui.
Cozy nice spot, but food was way below average. The only good thing we had was the Thai iced tea. Pho was bland with absolutely no flavor. Crab Rangoon was extremely fishy smelling and tasting/not fresh. Service was rushed and short & the female server did not check on us during our meals bc we would’ve definitely mentioned it. The young male server seemed nice and did ask us how was everything after already finishing our meals (because we were hungry). At that point we just wanted to pay and leave & never go back. Unfortunately with so many other options, I wouldn’t recommend this place.
Place is awesome. The rangoons are unreal!!
After some shopping in the area, my mom and I were craving Thai and decided to try a new place. When we opened the menu, we were super excited to discover Samui is the sister restaurant to our usual go-to, Bangkok Room in Ansonia! I have had a lot of Thai food from all over many states because I had dealt with many Asian customers from various Asian Airlines over the years an when they visited the states they of course stayed for at least 5 to 10 days at the minimum. This is by far the worst Thai Food I have had I have ever eaten and I LOVE Thai food and most often would seek out Thai food to eat with my asian customers versus other forms of Asian food. The fresh rolls, had a very sticky, almost soggy, wrap around them. Inside, if there was any thai basil in the wrap I could not taste it The sauce for them was ok - not awful but sort of on the light side with not much flavor. I ordered fried rice as a charged upgrade (instead of white rice with a meal) - don't bother with as it was like white rice they threw two bits of egg into and a small sprinkle of soy sauce over no more than half of it - that's it.. The Tom Yum soup was also awful -as it sadly tasted as if it was from a can. I would not have recognized it as Tom Yum Soup at all (it does not look like the picture on their website) but only knew it was that because that was the only soup I ordered. I also ordered a salad with peanut dressing. While the salad was plentiful, the lettuce, tomatoes and cucumber provided were big thick un-edible pieces that one had to re-cut to actually eat it. While that was an annoyance, the biggest issue with the salad was that the peanut dressing that I was looking forward to consuming was not a "dressing" at all but literally... a spread - like spicy peanut butter. I had to take the time to put it in another container, whip in water and a little sesame oil to it to actually make it a dressing to pour over the salad. After paying almost $60.00 for all of this I was not pleased I had to re-make food I had bought already prepared in order for it to 'work'! The meal I bought was eggplant basil with added chicken. I didn't enjoy it either. There was not much brown sauce in it and what I could find didn't taste that great. The chicken in it was just...ok. Just like another reviewer said there was no added extras - no little soy sauce (to help save their feeble attempt at fried rice), no extra small bag of crunchy noodles, and not even a fortune cookie or small asian mint added to the order for what I feel was a complete waste $60.49. Never again for me!
Food is good and usually consistent but not always. Young man working at the register is rude. We only do take out and he never offers a greeting or says thank you. Often he just points to your bag of food! They raised their prices but not the quality of customer service.
The food was great. It was cold and we had a plugged in heater at the table but only on one side. Even the server was shivering. Its a small, intimate space. If its too cold I suggest getting it to go cause it was delicious. Had the crispy noodle pad thai. Great flavor.
Food was very good, excellent portions! Larger party with little kids... Waiter was attentive and accommodating, even with being very busy with take out pickups. We really enjoyed our meal.
Great food. Fast and delicious. Took a star off for the dining area. It could use a face-lift. Makes sense that the takeout option is popular.
SOOO GOOD!!! I hate being one of these people but honestly the best green curry I’ve had outside of Thailand. Please get the green curry.
Best Thai food I've had in a while, and I was visiting from NYC where we have tons of Thai food. I got the drunken noodles 👌
Small restaurant that was doing a very good take out business. We were in from out of town for a trade show and went to dinner on a Thursday evening. Food was excellent. We had Crispy Duck and the Lime Fish.
Excellent.
I cannot remember the last time I actually took time to write a negative review...normally I would just not return to business however, this was so disgusting! I would leave no star if I could one is giving this disgusting place a positive...not only was the woman that rang me out yelling loud, "NO! We no give," when I asked for the usual hard noodles with duck sauce commonly comes free with meal. Anyway the chicken...not sure it was chicken...the horrific taste is in my mouth I cannot get rid of it. My stomach is killing me...I threw most away I was so hungry as well.as my family member who threw out their portion after suffering some down because we were hungry and...ugh this place is so disgusting I would never ever go back...rude, dirty inside, disgusting so c alled chicken and other so called food was just so disgusting spare yourself...I am seriously sick from eating that garbage 🗑...
Very good that food. Easy to order online and pickup. Friendly staff
Food was good. Portions were generous. Avoid siting in the back room in the summer as there is little to no air conditioning.
Food is truly delicious!! We've been coming here for years and it's consistently excellent!
First time. Drunken Noodles were excellent (freshly made) as were the vegetable dumpling. BUT, the chicken Sate was dry... not up to par. Tasted as if it had been cooked beforehand and then reheated. Would definitely recommend the other choices.
The food here is excellent in the lunch special is a great deal. However I did call today to ask if I could order lunch apparently 10 minutes after they close. The lady who answered the phone immediately said no bye and hung up before I can ask what time they close for future reference. Patience is a virtue...
super hygienic, exceptional food, and great service. been going here since they opened and I don't have a single complaint. I eat here on a weekly basis.
Horrible I ordered tiger cry omg was suppose to come with sticky rice and have steak and also sauce with it. It came with a bed of lettuce sticky rice on the side wrapped in seran wrap and a tiny sauce on the side horrible customer service
Just be careful with adding extra spice. I asked for my pad thai extra spicy because I usually like spicy food but I couldn't even eat it it was outrageously spicy. Everything I got has been very tasty otherwise.
The sesame and orange chicken are absolutely incredible.
The food is great but the customer service was abysmal. In a place that was empty with no calls, the young gentleman at the counter was incredibly rude and abrupt.
I ordered the fried rice and he gave me the basil chicken. When I asked for an extra spoon, he refused saying there’s enough in the bag.
I expect very minimal in customer service and Samui couldn’t even meet the bare minimum of customer courtesy.
I ordered it online and they left it outside the door like they don’t care about other’s people orders..Very disappointing 😡
This was by far the BEST Thai food I have had in a long long time. Service was good too and so was the ambiance. Can’t wait to go back there again and try different things from their menu 😄👍👌
Hasty, rude service. Waiter did not know that flour was wheat, and wasn’t able to answer any basic ingredient/allergy questions. Kept having to call him back, and hold him there to even take our order. Was a hassle. Nice selection of food, and some aspects of the meal were good, but inconsistent. Unfortunately not a satisfying, enjoyable experience.
I love lunch here, very tasty food.
Awesome place I just moved up here from New Haven and its better then any thai place down there. We ordered the yellow curry, crispy duck and the crab ragoons. The ragoons were the best! They had real crabmeat stuffing and beautifully fried. The duck was moist on the inside crispy on the outside served with a succulent brown sauce. My favorite was the curry that was loaded with beef and vegetables, the curry wasn't watery like other places I have been. A must try!
Delicious!. Highly recommended the steamed dumplings.
Beautiful service excellent food every time
First time I've been here and didn't feel welcomed at all. The lady also made me feel dumb when I didn't understand her menu and what came with what. The food was decent. Service was bad. I will not be returning to this restaurant.
2 really good meals tonight,as always I didn't go 5 stars because it was so busy.that the service was impacted.
i love this place
Ordered their Tom Yum noodle soup. Great nourishment for cold weather!
You won't regret it. Ask for the chicken skewers with both peanut sauce and the cucumber sauce.
We have been to this restaurant plenty of times. We will not be back they have changed the menu and increased the prices of everything. The food has definitely gone down hill. The waitress they have there is so uncomfortably rude! She takes the food before you are done and walks away before you are done ordering. We will not be returning!
Delicious food, great ambience, and excellent service!
Delicious Thai food!
Excellent! Ah oui oui 😏
Extremely rude waitress. Food is ok but not consistent.
Great service, food and quick. I liked the stir fry! Free oranges at the end 🍊
Not really in Southbury too often and that's kind of a shame now because I just found my new favorite Thai place. I'm not really a huge Thai fan not for any particular reason I just like others more. Came here for the lunch special and it was just perfect. Very reasonable price for having soup and appetizers included I've spent upwards of 20 dollars for the same lunch and paid almost half that today. Very fast and efficient service and the food was delicious. Tum yum soup was very good and clean spring rolls were very good and got the chicken and broccoli stir fry and it was just authentic and good. Definitely a little gem to the area and I really do wish them the best good people with good business!
Food was not as good as we have hoped.
Food is mediocre at best. The waitress actually chased us down to the car to ask why she wasn’t given a tip, so rude! We left the tip in the bill folder, but can you believe being chased to be made to feel bad about a tip? Doesn’t make me want to give a tip at that point if I hadn’t already and certainly won’t go back.
Very good Tai restaurant. Service was very efficient and food was excellent. Would definitely recommend Samui Thai.
Loyal southbiry patron due to the great food, however will not be back due to the service levels of the surly waitress as mentioned in other reviews. . She is rude beyond belief. Was once BYOB, but not managing conversion well as not considered a full service restaurant. Owner should seriously reflect on who is working for them representing the business. Disappointed. Would not recommend.
Very good. Fast service. Great food. Nice lunch selections.
The best Thai food around!
So Good! Authentic cuisine
Good food. Great menu.
Food is delicious and affordable. Great atmosphere and friendly service
Best Thai food in the area
We have eaten there a dozen times. It is one of our favorite places. They always have fresh food and flavors.
Excellent place to eat.
Good local joint!!!
Their seasoning wasn't great. The tom yum soup was a little too salty. The service was excellent
Atención esmerada de todo su personal, para dar un servicio de calidad a nuestros clientes.
Really great, I love getting the Thai tea from there! Unsure of my favorite meal to order yet as I haven’t tried enough things yet, lol
Delicioso
Good Thai food with good service. Small, quaint dining room. The currys and noodle dishes are excellent. Our favorites are the seafood green curry and pad woonsen.
Fantastic food and friendly staff. I'm a long time customer and will continue to be
Great food... Service though is lacking and often rude... Likely because they are busy but they need to put a greater emphasis on the customer experience. I have been there 3 times in 2 months. Each time we are shocked by how we are treated. It is however the best Thai food within a half hour drive
Excellent service, great fresh rolls and very good curry entrees! A real gem to be found in a region void of good Asian food!
Great food and service
Great food at a reasonable price
Good thai food. Must try tomyum soup
Nice food. Very less quantity for the price.
Good Food and Ambience
Easily the best Thai food in the area.
Lovely Thai place. Service was great, the restaurant itself is adorable. Portions were quite large, well presented and ingredients were fresh. Food was slightly over-seasoned but I’d be willing to give it another try if I was ever back in the area.
Simply splendid food and peaceful atmosphere!
Fried chicken was so oily, pad thai stunk like a dead body and was not edible, other chicken was dry or gummy, dumplings were bland. I was not happy. This is bad food.
Very good food. Very quickly served food.
They make delicious massaman curry and are quick in regards to take out.
Great food
Very good Thai food, very clean with good service
Quick efficient service, very reasonably priced meals, good selection of beers. Never had to wait for a table.
The food is very tasty and great selection on dinner plates.
Excellent curry and the coconut soup is the best I've had in awhile
Staff is very polite, service is timely and the food is excellent
Great food, worth a bit of a wait.
