Low-key, family-owned spot in bright space serving Thai favorites such as curries & noodle dishes.
I was in the area for a quick work trip, and I had a friend recommend this restaurant to me. I’m so glad she did!! The ladies working here are so sweet and kind!! To me, the service alone at any establishment can make all the difference. Secondly, the food was not only ready VERY fast, but it tasted phenomenal! Additionally, I loved the thoughtfulness of the Togo packing of my sweet sticky rice (I’m not a mango fan and the girl gladly accepted my request to make it without). If I’m ever in the area for work again, I will certainly be stopping here again!
First off I felt so special because the hostess also was the one who cooked our food, and that afternoon we happened to be the only guests , so it was like a personal chef. I really appreciated that.
The food was delicious! Big portions as well. The leftovers were even better the next day ☺️
Some of the best Pad Thai and loved the sticky mango rice. It was very satisfying and yummy.
I could not recommend this place more. It is one of my favorite restaurants in Boulder, super clean and cozy. The food is incredible and the service is amazing. Everything I’ve tried on the menu has been absolutely delicious especially the pad thai! The waiter was so kind and so much fun!
With a normal tip you can get a great meal for $20. Generous portions and great tasting dishes. I make sure to go once a week while I’m in the area.
I think that the sign on the front of the store says it all: "Best Thai Restaurant of 2017." There is something authentic-tasting about the food, though its preparation needs some work. The Pad Kee Mow was really delicious, though it has some very large bits and some smaller bits that are at different levels of doneness. The noodles themselves are perfectly cooked and seasoned, I think that this is the dish you should try. The red, yellow, and green curries are also decent, kind of on the watery and less-curry-flavored side compared with others in Boulder. The rice feels like low quality rice from China, not jasmine rice. Not much chicken in the curries, and some big chunks of eggplant that just don't go with the rest of it. Not enough coconut milk in the curries to keep them from being soupy. Generally it all feels uneven; unevenly cooked, cut, and seasoned, but with some flashes of deliciousness inside.
We got the Pad Kee Mao (drunken noodles) with tofu, the Panang with veggies, and the egg rolls to share. It was all amazing. We love our spicy food but are not Thai, so we got our entrees American Hot which was perfect for us. Great vegetarian options and they’re open to customizing things to fit your dietary needs.
This place is pretty good. The service was great. It is a bit pricey for thai, but I would say pretty much worth it. The peanut sauce is a must with the spring shrimp rolls. The drunken noodles were ok, not the best I have had. We also got some random free soup that was a bit spicy but delicious. I recommend checking it out and the Thai hot is just how hot you think it is.
I ordered takeout here to try the food and the whole place smelled strongly of oil. The food was oily also and maybe it was the smell of the oily restaurant, but I could not eat.

Best Thai food in Boulder. Don't make a mistake and go somewhere else

Perfect little spot. Food was great and service was quick amazing. Would definitely go again.

Khow Thai was a great place! Exceptional service and delicious food as always! Best Thai restaurant in Boulder by far!
Thai has been my fav since a child and this place comes the closest to replicating that childhood experience of eating some fire Phanaeng and Pad Thai.
Did not like a dish and they didn’t replace it.
Lived here for 4 years!
Place was empty and food was lousy and flavorless.

Food is very tasty here.

They are all super nice! And the Thai tea is amazing!!

Best pad Thai 👌
I judge a Thai restaurant based on their papaya salad, and from my experience, this place is probably the most authentic Thai restaurant in town. Most Thai places in Boulder cater to more of a western curry-obsessed palate where everything is too sweet and runny (probably the same people leaving negative reviews) but they don’t do that here. Great hole-in-the-wall experience. Try the papaya salad or the larb!
Great experience. I got the Pad Gra Tiem and it was fantastic. Highly recommend. The server was great too. It seems like a family run spot.
Absolutely delicious!! Highly recommend
I love this place! The food is delicious and the lady behind the counter is so kind. I always look forward to going in, even just to pick it up because she’s so sweet! I love the drunken noodles and the spring rolls! Everyone should give this place a try! :)
Yummy food and great personal service.
recommend eating here! tasty food, fast service, Staff are super nice
I love Khow Thai cafe's delicious authentic Thai cuisine. The service is prompt and friendly.
fire, quick service and super nice
Amazing food and service!
Khow Thai is my go to spot for good Thai food.
Food is always consistently good. Staff is very friendly. Place is small, but always welcoming. Usually get the drunken noodles thai hot, but like everything I've tried. Been going since I was a kid.
Truly the worst Thai food I’ve had in a long time. Super simple order. Pad Thai with beef and masaman curry.
Both were unbelievably bland and required significant doctoring at home to get them to a passable quality.
I will not be returning, was really hoping to find my new favorite Thai spot.
I Love this place near the park in downtown Boulder. I can walk to downtown or sit outside on the picnic tables in nice weather. The Food is authentic Yummy Thai food & I always try to save room for Mango Sticky rice for dessert but it doesn't always work out if I go with friends and we order lots of appetizers! I always get Pad See U with extra broccoli and I love the Papaya salad, but my friend was strict vegetarian so he didn't have any. Bring an appetite & start out with Tom Kha soup for two as an app! I love that I can also get Thai Iced tea with coconut milk instead of dairy. So Good!
I ate here with a friend and we both got extremely ill. I called the owner and she was unwilling to help me. Said it was my fault and that she needed a note from a lawyer and a doctor before she would listen to what I was saying.
Thanks Khow, I will never be coming back.
Still great Thia food and chicken satay YUM!
the food was fantastic and the server was kickass! i would tell all of my friends to go here for a delicious authentic thai experience.
The mushroom soup they give you is amazing and unique. They sometimes only have one person doing everything so if it's packed it can be slightly slow. I have been going for years and it's awesome. They had a second location in Broomfield but I didn't realize it until they closed it. If there is anything they could improve on it's probably just marketing.
The red curry was delicious. They were fast and my server was great. This place was pretty chill and laid back. Absolutely would return again.
Excellent Thai taste and great quality. So nice to eat food that tastes as it does in Thailand. Pad See Ew Gai and Green chicken curry. Excellent
Love the peanut stir fry here. Every time I have friends in town and we go through Boulder I stop here for lunch.
Very fresh and perfectly cooked vegetables in my stir fry served up with a light peanut sauce. My husband equally enjoyed his duck curry dish. Generous portions so we took some home! Highly recommend!
The food was delicious and everything tasted very fresh. The woman behind the counter was friendly, portions were decent, and price was reasonable. Nothing to complain about, just good all around!
Reasonably priced thai dishes. Outdoor tables.
Absolutely the best Thai I have ever had. Everything was delicious from the egg roll to the duck curry. Can easily see why so many awards!
Had the best lunch here today. Liked the menu options, the vegan options in particular. Will be back.
This was indeed a surprisingly good place. We love thai food and have eaten at many places and this was definitely one of the good ones. We tried the tom kha soup and drunken noodles both were good and made with great quality ingredients.
came here once two years ago and i still recommend this place to people
This is a hidden gem.. an awesome place and food and great service.
Best Thai in boulder!!! They label everything with allergens
Small, cozy place with good food. I had green curry with chicken, a side of white rice and small cup of soup. Soup seemed like an unfinished business to me, and the broth was way too intense. Green curry w chicken was lovely! It had big chunks of eggplant, red and green peppers and basil leaves.
Very welcoming employees, great service, and delicious food!
The food value is worthy compared to the cheap price, taste and portion. The best menu IMO is Padthai and Pad See Ew.
Very good food and decent service.
Drunken noodles are really good! However the panang curry and peanut stir fry I had seriously lacked flavor unfortunately. They also charge if you ask for no ice- just worth knowing since it’s not written anywhere
Khow Thai spoiled me. It’s by far the best Thai food I’ve had in Colorado. My mom says it even reminds her of the Thai food she got in Thailand. I can’t eat at any other Thai restaurants now! Amazing prices too. Can’t be beat and the spice levels are HOT which we love!
Love the dishes here.
The food was authentic and great
Love this spot, they know how to spice it up properly! Great Tom Yum.
Delicious!
The Khow Thai Cafe is in a very convenient location as it is located just across the street from my apartment. They are bigger than building appears and have nice ambiance. I order two spring rolls and a Thai Ice tea which were very good. The staff were helpful and friendly.
Dined in. I ordered K2 which was mediocre... a bit too much oil overall. The service was lacking. Seemed understaffed with the amount of time it took the waiter to take my order, bring the bill, or get a fortune cookie. The portion size was small and the quality of the meat seemed low. Definitely not my favorite visit here
Food tastes awful. Had their shrimp fried rice. Seems like the shrimps are not cooked at all. Not recommended
Great service, great atmosphere, great food.
The Pad Himalai is perfectly yummy. Your proteins and veggies done right.
The interior is so cute..
FOOD 2.5/5
I had tom yum soup it was okay not authentic and I asked for Thai spicy and I got mild.
SERVICE 3/5
The employe was nice but did one unprofessional thing which is holding the phone while serving.
Incredibly good Thai food. My friend ordered the Phad Khee Mao which was excellent. I had Tom Kha soup (also great).
Note: this is a late review for a meal back in October of 2021
Extremely Disappointing. I ordered the Pad Khee Mao lunch special with Tofu. I know the lunch special is supposed to be a smaller portion, but this was an appetizer-sized portion. The bowl was less than half full. Not only that, there were just 4 tiny pieces of tofu. For $9, I feel robbed. I called them to tell them about my experience, and they courteously and nicely told me that this is how it comes. They sounded like nice people, but I feel extremely disappointed. I would not recommend this experience to anyone, and I won't be visiting here again.
The BEST Tom Kha and chicken Pad See Ew I’ve ever had in my life!!!!
Great customer service.
I got the mango sticky rice and the mango was half brown. i couldn’t most of it because it looked rotten. The green curry came with eggplant that was not cut up enough and i couldn’t cut it with a plastic fork. The sriracha noodles were alright. I wouldn’t go back (this was a take out order.)
Excellent service! It feels like home. Very good food and service!
This was a great place for a quick, tasty lunch just a short walk from campus. The lunch specials are an amazing bargain especially since the food is cooked to order and fresh. We had the pad Kee mao (drunken noodles) and the pad prik king. They were served with a cup of soup and an egg roll. Servers were quick and friendly. Only wish there had been more chicken in the noodle dish.
The pad gra tiem (lsf1) with tofu and vegetables. Seriously highly recommend! The tofu is perfect- I need to figure out how to cook it like they do.
The hours on their website need to be updated though because they ARE open for lunch!
Arguably the best Thai food in Metro Denver + Boulder. I eat there 2-3 times a week. I love their curries. My favorite noodle dish is Pad Thai. Maybe I'll see you there. 👍👍👍
Just visit boulder for the weekend. Went out for Thai dinner I stop at khow Thai Cafe and order drunken noodles with chicken taste amazing!!! Love it! Perfect for Sunday night. Will come back again.
Classic Thai food with friendly service makes for a great place to eat!
Bad food, worse service. I ordered my food at the 2nd highest spice level, and it came out tasteless. I told the server (I don't fully blame her, she seemed completely untrained and that's not her fault but the restaurant's) and was just given some chili flakes as if that alone could fix my flavorless food. Don't come here unless covid took your tastebuds, and even then expect overcooked mush
Food was okay- ordered spicy & received mild Pad Thai, but this was not corrected. Service was fairly hands-off. Very awkward & unwelcoming. If you're looking for a surreal & uncomfortable dining experience with fresh ingredients & not much flavor, Khow Thai is the place for you.
We had a great server but the food was lacking. Jungle curry was watery and not much flavor. Drunken noodle was just okay not at all what i was expecting seeing all the 5280 and westword awards gave me a false sense of hope.
Their vegan pad see yew is so great I have craved it every day since the first time I had it!!
If you don't have but allergies try the peanut chicken stir fry. Small place but good service. We all enjoyed our respective orders. Get you some Thai here.
Very under staffed. I’ve gone 3 times for delivery all three I had to cancel. Was there 10 minutes AFTER pickup time and they “didn’t have order”. I’ll never do delivery for this place again!! 0-3
Boulder is one of my favorite cities and I’ve tried several Thai restaurants here. This is my first time here at Khow Thai and I have to say it’s the best I’ve had!! Everything my family ordered was excellent and super fresh!!
Thai tasty.🌶
I've been meaning to come here for ages and i'm super glad I did. Delicious food with fast and friendly service.
Best Thai food in Boulder. Absolutely amazing!!
Been coming here for years, never had a bad experience. Food has been consistently delicious. The staff is always friendly and service is on point. Much appreciated!!
Hands down the BEST Thai food you will EVER have! The Thai tea is amazing and the owner is super friendly. If you want the best quality Thai in America this is your place. Do NOT miss it!!!
Was on a trip (march 2021) and decided to take-out from this place for lunch since it had good reviews. It was indeed nice and I wanted to leave a positive review since the people working/owning the place were really nice. Food tasted great, and its a good portion
Honestly I'm not sure how I lived my life before finding their Peanut Stir-Fry. Peanut butter and coconut milk make up the sauce, carrots, cabbage, zucchini, and broccoli make up the veggies, and throw in your favorite protein to complete this dish. Different levels of spicy to accomodate even the most sensitive pallet. There is a reason this restaurant wins Best of Boulder consistently.
eh, okay thai. bad service often. mixed up food.
Great food. Ordered tonight and took a chance with a new place, and glad we did!! Large portions, great crispy tofu, real spice, perfectly cooked vegetables, and good chicken.. Reasonably priced. Thumbs up!
Great food..good service
This is my favorite Thai restaurant in Boulder.I have been coming here for over 20 years. It was started by a womanBut now she is turned it over to her daughter.I come here at least once a week
ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST - Never again - Exactly the opposite of what was ordered. When remade after the wrong food arrived there was about a spoonful of chicken in a red curry soup. The other 95% had no content besides liquid. Others have commented in similar ways. We lived in Thailand, so we do know our Thai food well 😉 Avoid this place. Many better alternatives in Boulder.
Today I was the first making my order as soon as they opened and guess what....
The best curry and pad Thai of my life!
Delicious Thai food
Still my Colorado Thai go to
Khow Thai is one of the best restaurants in Boulder! The food is incredibly authentic, amazing flavors. Great for lunch take away during work hours! Incredible service, food is always hot and the family who owns the place is very kind.
Amazing, a perfect taste of Thailand
Usually when you order late in boulder the food is sub par at best. I just ordered very last minute and the food is very good and they even threw in an extra soup! Very nice staff, authentic food and cute atmosphere. Portions are average when you do take out but are huge when you eat in. Reliable and underrated!
We were visiting from Dallas,Texas and I LOVE Thai food and eat it weekly. This place was absolutely amazing. Every dish was cooked with love, you could taste the high quality and not- rushed delicious preparation of my vegetarian favorites, Tom Kha and Pad Thai . It was open for take out via Grub Hub. Definitely try this place. I was impressed and would love to return.
This was delicious! We got our meals "american hot" which was perfect for me.
Consistently great and well priced food plus friendly service
My favorite Thai spot in Boulder, try the Massaman Curry!
Customer service sucked, but the food was great. Tip: 20 minutes really means 50.
P.S. Ask for utensils.
Absolutely delicious, excellent value - I think my favorite so far is the panang curry
Best Thai. Just go.
Closest thing you can get to real Thai food in Boulder. It is not expensive and very friendly!
Unusual. Considering the number of glowing reviews, we were anticipating a much better meal. In reality, the food was bland and the portions were huge. Broth on the curry seemed diluted with water. Basil was too wilted. The staff was friendly and prompt. Will not be returning.
Fast and great takeout. Pleased all of us.
Excellent service and delicious thai food! The waiter who attend our table was very kind and made good suggestions for a companion who was new to Thai food. I strongly recommend trying the specialties! We had the Pla Sam Rod, fried catfish with sweet and sour sauce, and it was very good.
Friendly and prompt service is what you’ll find at Boulder’s best Thai restaurant. For only $9.81, you receive a delicious plateful of food along with a complimentary side of soup and egg roll!! How can you beat that??
Absolutely delicious, reasonable prices, great service!
Best thai food in Boulder, hands down!
Good food but really long wait for takeout.
Good food
Great Thai food <3
I should come here more. It's really good Thai food, but order down the spice level bc these people do not kid around!
An absolutely amazing establishment! It’s Boulders hidden gem nestled on the hill. I’ve been dining in and ordering takeout frequently since I moved here and I’ve never been disappointed, just happy and full. It’s my go to place for a casual meal with friends and a cup of soup on a cold day. Food is quick and delicious and the staff that work there are especially friendly.
Delicious! Everything I got hit the spot!
Good food yumm
Impressive Thai food. I loved it.
Great prices good food
Great food and service
Very quaint
Been coming here for years
Best Thai Place in town
Wow amazing & authentic Thai food. The staff was incredibly friendly
Great service and food! Definitely a favorite in Boulder!
Delightful little Thai restaurant. Fair to cheap prices, and the service was rapid. I’ve eaten a lot of Thai food in my life, and I would happily come here again. I ordered a level 4 spicy on the Larb dish, and it lit my face on fire, so be careful with the heat here. That said, it was still delicious, so I continued to eat it with tears streaming down my face. They even brought out a free little bowl of what I think was Tom Yum, which I thought was a nice touch.
A renowned legend and local favorite in Boulder, CO, Khow Thai always delivers authentic, genuine, hard-to-beat, quality cuisine that will warm your heart and put a smile on your face--their food is made with love.
Great food and great smiles from the server. My happy place.
The food here is tasty, fresh, and a good value for the money. I've never been disappointed eating here.
I love this place. Been coming for years and they always have delightful Thai dishes at reasonable prices. Their curries are some of my favorite. The definition of deep, soulful thai curry.
Good food good service.
Best Thai restaurant ever.
