Lao & Thai
I went to Vientiane with a group of my close friends as we saw a post on social media advertising the restaurant. Overall, we enjoyed our experience. I wanted to try the stuffed chicken wings, and they were sold out. I will definitely make a trip back to West Sacramento to try the stuffed wings. The service was not that good as the restaurant was packed and there were only two servers. The staff did not anticipate the number of people coming to the restaurant since the post on social media. We got the food tower, fresh fish, and several other items. Check it out, but I recommend that you go early.
First time having dinner here at this place. It’s a small place that have about 7 tables. The food here is good. My favorite one is the Laos sausage and the fried tilapia with the tomato paste sauce. The kao soy was ok, not too flavor. The red curry was good and a little sweet, which I love it. The papaya was a bit on the sour side, so if you don’t like sour like me, you gotta let them know. The laab was ok, wish I could of ordered it cook. Raw make the meat a bit sticky and gooey. But overall, yes I would come back. The price for these food is decent. All of these for about $90 bucks.
Delicious food and great service. Finding Vientiane on the way home from Tahoe was a treat. We ordered a tofu pad se ew and their sampler tower. Everything was absolutely delicious. The only mistake we made was asking for their medium spice level. I guess we have very different definitions of "medium".😆
I will definitely stop by again when in the area.
The food tasted fresh. I love fresh quality veggies and I felt like the veggies were fresh. I loved the hint of fennel and spices in my yellow curry! Both of my friends orders looked and smelled delicious too so I know what to order when I go back!
I have known Chris the owner since his parents operated this restaurant and he and his brother were kids. The food is nothing short of FANTASTIC. They have been in this location for about 15 years.
The garlic pork is amazing. The new addition to the menu, the pineapple pork fried rice, delicious. Sometimes the place is packed, other times, no wait at all. Its a small place but don't let the location fool you. For Thai, locally, this is the BOMB!!
I'll go in to into my gripes first. With the unexpected exposure, the restaurant is understaffed and out of some key items. I can't hold that against them too much. Service was slow (there was only 1 person on the floor). No stuffed chicken wings or mango sticky rice. No blue bath tubs. Now for the good! The ambiance here is great. The food was great. The drinks were good. The lychee sangria is the perfect amount of wine and lychee- not too sweet either. We ordered the tower, drunken noodles, the steak, fried tilapia, chicken satay, and something else I can't remember lol. All very good. The meatballs have a weird texture-i wasn't a fan. The papaya salad is hella good. Garlic pork- amazing! Chicken satay was a little salty. All in all- I'd go back.
Pros: Ambience of the restaurant was nice. Restaurant is clean. We ordered the Vientiane food tower and it was delicious.
Cons: We got there and no one was there. Not even the workers. We stood around for a good 5-10 minutes until we decided to yell in the kitchen “Hello” before someone came out to sit us. Then another party arrived after us and they were sat at the table right away. They gave them waters and they took their order first. We were shocked that they ignored us. This kind of upset me but I wanted to give them a chance.
Overall: Food was good but service is questionable. Might eat there again, but probably won’t tip them well since they serve people out of order. Side note: we are Asians and the ones that were served first are white.
This is one of West Sac's hidden gems! We've been here several times and my husband can't get enough of their garlic pork! This time we got the tower which gives a nice sampler of their amazing menu items. We also got a couple soups and drunken noodles. Sooo good... It never disappoints! And we love the new look 🤩

Angel wings are good, sticky rice was fresh. Papaya salad too sour and tomatoes were green not ripe. Still good service

Bomb chika bomb bomb. This place is a dream
Mmmmmmmmm
Amazing food. Pineapple fried rice 10/10, laos sausage 10/10, fried tilapia with spicy tomato sauce 10/10

Loved this place! Reminded me of the food I’ve eaten in northern Thailand! Here’s what we ordered:
Stuffed chicken wings - delicate with a nice sauce. A nice texture to the skin. This is an easy one for kids or adults who aren’t used to SE Asian food.
Lao sausage - This is such a unique and interesting sausage and I always love it. The version they made here was delicious. I liked it with or without the sauce.
Steak and sauce - Tender steak perfectly cooked. The sauce tasted like a Thai seafood sauce to me, which is delicious with pretty much anything honestly. This is a crowd pleasing dish for sure.
Papaya salad - We could have had it Thai or Laos style. We wanted some extra funk so we went Lao. They made it legitimately spicy for us per our request. I’m happy if my scalp sweats and my nose runs. My friend liked it so much the she took a spoon to the sauce after the salad was done. This tasted exactly like what you’d have in Northeastern Thailand or in Laos.
Drunken noodles with seafood - a nice change of pace from the rest of the meal. I needed a little extra excitement for this dish though so I added the chili oil that was at our table. Yummy!
We got a soju cocktail. Honestly, It was just so we could Instagram it. A blue frozen drink served in a tiny bathtub with a rubber duck in it. Haha. The drink was too sweet but we still finished it. The extra sugar actually helped cool off our tongues between bites of that spicy papaya salad.
I was in the mood for mango sticky rice, but everybody was full so I took it to go.
It’s a small restaurant. Only one employee working the front of the house but he was great and attentive. Genuinely nice guy.
Come here if you enjoy authentic Thai or Laotian food!
Délicieux et copieux ! Nous avons pris à emporter et nous nous sommes régalés deux soir
This used to be my go to place for yummy food! Not anymore. I ordered the spring rolls and chicken satay. They changed their recipes because ewwww. The spring rolls used to be served with a yummy, lite, sauce now they serve it with a watered down peanut sauce, not to mention they were way smaller and the wrapping paper was to hard to chew. The chicken satay, which was always good, was so dry, way over salted and served with the very watered down peanut sauce. Not sure if they have new owners or cooks or what but I won't be back. Staff is nice, food is not!
Their yellow curry is fantastic. The yellow is not too hot for this gringo. The veggies are cooked but not overcooked.
The service tried to automatically add an 18% tip charge without informing us. This is separate from the tip expected to leave.
The food here is good but this place is very expensive. But what I am flabbergasted with is when I paid my bill of $150+, I was charged $4.50 for using their credit card machine. Most businesses would absorb this cost charged by
Visa and or Mastercard but not this place. Just a warning…I do not agree with this restaurant’s policy when they can absorb this cost as a business expense! I will not eat here again.

I love Vientiane. Started eating here 6 years ago when I moved here. However, everything there has almost doubled in price. They used to be my everyday spot for lunch back when they had lunch specials for $7/8/9. Now everything is just as pricey as anywhere else, so I've kinda stopped going. I guess good for them if the price increases bring more money in, but it definitely meant for me that I stopped eating there mostly. No hate, just the reality for me. Seeing such drastic price increases and going from an affordable option for eating out to pricey makes it hard for me to frequent now. They used to be one of the few places with reasonably priced food. Not anymore. Oh well
I this restaurant might have changed owners. Pho was definitely not pho. Out of a lot items. Spring rolls were good.
Small clean cafe has the most authentic northern Thai/lao food around
They were very busy and you wouldn't know it the service was absolutely top notch. The food was incredibly amazing. This is a very small restaurant. That I will absolutely be going back to often. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ everything was absolutely perfect.
Wow, this has been on my list for 2 years to come to and my only regret is that I didn't come sooner. The food is so good!like so good! I will be back at least once a month. I've been so tired of less than average for for premium prices. This place is so refreshing. Every dish is a flavor bomb, and for a reasonable price. Don't hesitate, RUN to Vientiane. You won't regret it. Sincerely, a new Fan.
50/50 if they’re open for the day. Don’t waste your time and money here.
It says open at 12 on Saturday, but waited long and it is still not open

Had one of the three soups...it will now be a once a month event. Delicious.
Great food . Haven’t been able to find good Thai food since my old place Thai spice closed down!!!
Great menu, reasonable prices, great service! Waiter Anush was especially fun and good to work with. We'll return!
So cute. And the food was delicious. Had the Thai style green papaya salad, the beef noodle soup, and the green curry. Everything was so good and spiced just right. Will eat here again hands down!
Great place to go for some real Laotian food.
One of the worst “Curries” I tasted for some time. Only give a second star because other customers were eating their food. Mine was returned.
Ordered a mild yellow curry and was served with something that looked like a green broccoli/cabbage stew. No protein, no potatoes et.
When I notified the waiter he suggested I get a side of potato and protein and mix it myself. I respectfully declined his proposal and asked him to remake it as this wasn’t even the base for what I ordered. 5 min later I get the same plate with just two pieces of protein and two potatoes added. Rice was the same and almost cold by now. It was clearly not prepared by a Thai chef.
I asked for the food to be returned again and to receive my check. To my surprise they really tried to ask the full amount. Only after some debate was the charge dropped as I didn’t consume anything. The chef never showed his face and only communicated from around the kitchen curtain. I see others had some good reviews here but I won’t return.
Friendly and yummy
Best Thai/Lao food around. Highly recommend everything on their menu. Food is hot, fresh, and delicious!!!!
First time offenders checking this place out . The place is very simple. As for their food we were not to sure what to order so we just ordered their fried rolls & Larb. First time having Larb, it was different, the texture was interesting 🤔, yet tasty . Service was adequate. Lunch hour traffic was good 👍
Inside has been refreshed since my last visit. They don't over sugar everything like all the Thai restaurants everywhere else. Food is great. Great customer service.. service is a little slow at lunch time so be prepared to use extra time
Decided to try it based on reviews and the food made me sick 🥲
Had beef pho and it was the best one I’ve ever had.
New place to try Thai food while visiting a friend in the West Sac area. No website with a menu or ordering options u less you go thru a 3rd party food delivery service. The food was basic and didn't have the Thai taste of bold flavors I'm used to (same for me friends)...
I have been dining at this restaurant before they relocated from their West capitol location. I wasn't asked if I wanted it spicy or not. It was so mild I wished I had asked it to be spicy. I have NEVER had a bad meal here. Always delicious Thai food. I went back again last night to discover a new menu. 25 years of dining here down the drain. I was the only customer in what used to be a crowded restaurant. I was not impressed. Food was too salty and the music too loud to hear what anyone was saying. This was such a treasure and I probably will not return. I can understand modifying a menu but you might want to test the product before putting it on the menu.
Absolute fire! The garlic beef is off the hook!
Went here based on the reviews as we were heading that direction. The pineapple fried rice was too fried and a little too greasy. The drunken noodle had lots of vegetables but was very bland with little noodle. And the pad Thai had very little besides noodles and was not well prepared pad Thai. Unfortunately we got our food to go, so there was no having it prepared properly or adding spice (nothing was even mildly spicy). The Lao sausage was pretty good saving this from a 1-star review, so maybe their Lao food is the better food. I don’t expect Thailand quality Thai food here in the states but do expect reasonable attempts to replicate the flavor and composition of real Thai food. The Thai staples here were not worth what appeared to be reasonable prices.
Great food!
I went back after a couple years and it was a better experience. Though the Cashew Chicken I had was a bit salty, I devoured it in no time. I think it was the cashews, they're my favourite. I will definitely be back.
Tried it for the first time and it was delicious. I will definitely return.
Crazy awesome flavors, never disappointed. Fresh and tasty delight's
See you next time

Best Thai/Lao in the area. Hands down.
My pad thai was good, not exceptional. Service was almost like they didn't want to be bothered. I'm not sure we'll go back.
Love this place!!! Always has great food and service for great prices!!! Thank you so much for the awesome food and experience
#26 makes my day
Curry is my favorite food. I ve had many different curry spots across the west Coast. This is easily the saddest amount of curry I've ever gotten. The food itself is just okay. Nothing special like you'd expect with such a small amount. Many other curry spots in Sacramento where for a dollar more you get twice the amount and equally as good food.
Best Laotian food in town
Very good food but very small portions.
Food is great! Ordered take out last week as dine in is currently not an option. Food was ready in 25 minutes. Awesome service!
Amazing fresh food. Their stuffed chicken wings are to die for.
I have to admit they exceeded my expectations. Everything was so flavorful I order several items. This will be a regular for me!
Best Papaya salad, stuffed chicken wings, lao sausage and desserts around.
Enjoyed
Good food but slow service
I really like this place, the server is always with a good attitude which is the first thing I see when I go out to eat, the food is good taste, the only thing I question my self is the smell of the fried rice has sometimes. If anyone can answer me it should be nice. But everything is good overall.
Laotian and Thai - Great food - the cook is a natural.
Low cost. Lunch plates even less cost.
Check out the Sausages and stuffed chicken wings.
lots of parking. Good place to go to meet friends before carpooling downtown
3 WORDS! Stuff chicken wings
Always great.
I like their's noodle soups
We have heard so much good about this place only to be disappointed. The Pad Thai was OK, the Satay was OK, the stuffed wings were good.
Favorite Thai food in Sac!
I rate a 5, as in very good and tasty. The curry is good, and the sausage and stuffed chicken are delicious. There is WiFi if you ask. Also try the sticky rice and mango dessert.
Been eating here 10+yrs.....great homecook asian
Delicious as always. Oh no pictures cuz I ate it all!
Somehow I ran across this restaurant on guilp. And noticed it was right in my town of West Sacramento. And I love Thai food so much The food was great and the employees were very kind. They have a nice selection of different items on their menu. And I plan on coming back to try some of those other items.
This restaurant is one of the best!!! All food is so delicious even the drinks. If your in sacramento you need to try it you can't miss it.
It was okay the wife had Pho and my friend had Pho they said, " it was okay". The staff are friendly clean place even the restroom were clean.
Spice levels, even 10 chili’s, are tolerable to SE asian standards. Unique sweet spin on the papaya salad as well as the sausages.
Definitely one of the best laotioan/Southeast Asia restaurants in Sacramento!
Great portions of Thai food. Perfect for a quick lunch with tasty food.
Great experience, attentive staff, authentic food, but on the sweet side though 🤑
Waitstaff very helpful, food delicious, priced well. Nice environment. You'll be happy you went.
Wonderful Thai food. I particularly enjoyed the Larb, Drunken noodles, Green curry & Garlic pork. I will return.
The experience was Great food was good my friend Jasmine suggested.
Modest and good.
Good Vietnamese food
The noodles is over cooked and the food was tasteless
It would be packed if it was in location with more foot traffic.
It was blah for it being Thai food
Great friendly place to eat. I come here when I want some Laos sausage.
We eat here a lot. Never had a bad meal. This is a family-owned and run restaurant.
Best Thai cuisine around!! Super friendly staff. Every time we go in. Food comes out hot fresh and fast. If we're making it to go order still super hot Super Fresh super fast. Stopped in for my birthday dinner and they overheard us talking about it and brought out some incredible housemade coconut ice cream that's absolutely to die for! If you have any room left after your mealthe coconut ice cream for dessert is a must have! My kid's love their chicken on a stick AKA chicken satay.
Great food and customer service.
Great SE Asian restaurant! Hidden gem in West Sac, they have heavenly stuffed chicken wings, the best phad thai, yummy drunken noodles ( homemade 🍜), light & refreshing salads, plu pho! Lunch specials are a great deal $ and their prices overall are very reasonable. The service is fast, friendly, always very clean & they even have a nice bathroom LOL...this is important to me! Highly recommend👍
I loooove this spot! It's a hidden gem that I visit every time I find myself in the Sacramento area. The service is fantastic, the prices are very affordable, and the food is reminiscent of the food I ate while traveling through Laos and Thailand years ago.
Their chicken larb salad, tom kha gai soup, spring rolls, and mango sticky rice are delicious (and totally authentic), and their chicken satay is a definite favorite among the Thai spots I frequent (that includes my regular spots in San Francisco). Highly recommended!
Service was amazing and very delicious food. I ordered the Koa Mee (Lao fried noodle), which is very hard to find in Sacramento. The flavor and texture was firm and sweet just like the one I grew up eating. Their papaya - Lao style was by far the best I’ve had from a Sac restaurant.
I also have to say this place is very affordable. I purchased 2 entrees, 2 salads for the price of $30, and it is very filling. Loved this hole in the wall!
Great food, fast service, and really reasonable prices!
Great lunch prices, fast service
Very good service & food.
Delicious, clean, fast. Delicious.
Good food and friendly
Great food, small location, but never crowded or hard to find a table. We frequent it.
We had papaya salad, Lao sausage. All very good. Highly recommended.
Service was quick, the meal was inexpensive ($8 for a full plate, but not enough for leftovers), and our server was great!
I didn't hate the food but I didn't really enjoy it. Food was bland. I've had better food for the same price or less. The lady that served us was nice and that just about the nicest thing I can really say. It's small. Maybe about 9 or 10 tables that seat 4. It isn't a really busy place so don't think you will have a hard time finding a seat. I ordered the Lao sausage which was sweet, spicey and kinda dry. Hubby got the pineapple fried rice and said he didn't really like it. My daughter got the Kapoon noodles and it was really sweet and spices. They put too much basil in the soup which became over powering. Kapoon noodle are suppose to taste a little like curry but tasted really watered down. Wouldn't go back. Lady was nice though
Love this place. I have been a customer for 10 years..
Excellent food and service.
Pretty small portion.
This is my favorite place to get Thai food. The seafood soup is to die for and the portions are generous.
very good. Think this used to be up on West Capital Ave this is a much better area,
Great prices and wonderful food. Also family owned so the service is excellent.
Terrific Laotian and Thai food.
Extremely disappointed order togo and our soup cup broke with soup spill all over. 1 piece of ck in the whole bowl of soup, REALLY??? This is just horrible
This place is very good family run business. It is more like home cooking than some commercial chain restaurant. Their soups and curries are my favorite. They can be a bit slow when it gets busy but it is worth the wait. A very good dining value.
Very cozy place, service have room for improvement. Very small portions, reasonable price. Overall need more of the tai flavors on their dishes..
Good service. Well portioned meals. Staff genuinely cared about food quality.
Good food
Yellow curry was amazing
Delicious soups, pad say ew, and Lao sausage!
Love their Laos style papaya salad
Loved everything especially the stuffed chicken, fried chilli fish and the Tam Yam Gai/thale
Interesting mix of Thai/Laotian food. There's some stuff on the menu here that's not at other Thai restaurants in the area. I like the Ka Poon.
authentic and tasty. I would highly recommend.
Great service and really good papaya salad.
Love this place so much and the staff are so amazing and nice.
they were so extremely nice. I loved their papaya salad kung pao chicken.
Dishes were on the smaller size which is perfect because prices are reasonable. If you want to gorge, this place isn't the best place but if you want a light dinner, it's a great place.
Awesome authentic Thai/Lao food! Loved it!
Great hole in the wall place! Owners are super nice. Good is consistently good. Love the stuffed chicken wings and papaya salad!
