Thai Food
The mango curry with shrimp was delicious? Big surprise ther, loved that, and the basil fried rice was also very solid. Also enjoyed the mushroom soup it had a wonderful garlic taste. Panang curry was 7/10. We got the lao Thai style salad with tofu and personally like a 4/10, the onion is very strong but that could be a personal taste typa thing. Everything else was perfect, def recommend the mango curry and the basil fried rice!
Very friendly service. Also appreciated that they were playing the warriors game in their bar area. There was a Laotian and Thai option for the papaya salad and I prefer the Thai version though my friends liked the shrimp paste of the Laotian. The angel wings had a good fry. The champa sampler is definitely the best item.
We arrived toward the end of lunch hour but actually beat the crowd. After we got seated (within moments of arriving), everyone else started showing up, so we were lucky to get in and place our order when we did.
This place is a contender for some of the best fried tofu I've ever had. It was super crispy on the outside and firm and juicy on the inside. A true delight to eat. I enjoyed the eggplant as well. It was packed with flavour but fortunately not too garlicky, an issue I've noticed with stir-fried eggplant at other places. The only downside to my meal was that the rice was a bit soggy and lacked the typical aromatic flavour of jasmine rice. Overall though, this place was a solid lunch option, and I'll be back soon for more delicious tofu and eggplant.
This is my go to spot for a good soup and delicious Thai / Laotian food. I’ve brought friends and family and love starting with the fresh Champa sampler that comes with Lao sausages. If you don’t have too big of appetite but want something that taste great the papaya salad reminds me of Thailand spices. I love grabbing a different soup each time. The Tom yum could be a little bit spicer but they give you chili oil to make it the spiciness level you like. I never question the quality of seafood or shrimp and daily specials have always been delicious. I highly recommend this to anyone traveling in San Francisco and will be my go to spot for years to come.
Pretty good food at this location. The Nam Kaow rice ball salad was very popular at our table. The Penang curry was also nice with sticky rice. Fried noodles (pad se-ew and pad Thai) had limp, soggy noodles and dry, dry stringy meat. Basil fried rice was not served warm. Pad ped pla dook (spicy catfish) was nice.
All of their dishes are wonderful.
Overcooked rice, overpriced menu, nonexistent drink menu, and underdeveloped atmosphere
Once every month we are going to this great thai restaurant. The food is fresh and delicious. We always get great service from the waiters.

Really solid Laotian and Thai food. Very underrated. Their fried rice ball salad is the bomb. I'd avoid the pan-fried noodles, which are only OK.
Local favorite. A quick pickup for the partner. Great food.

Excellent sur tout la ligne
Excellent food.
We ordered the Lao-style chicken larb, the Tom Kha soup, and the veggie clay pot. The larb was great. The soup and the clay pot unfortunately were very sweet. The soup was so sweet that we decided to stop eating it. The restaurant redeemed itself by comping our soup. We love Champa Garden and have been coming here somewhat regularly for 10 years, if less so since we moved to a different part of the city in 2021, so we're hoping that they will return to putting only very little sugar in their dishes. What we tasted today was 3x too much. They didn't use to do this.
Pad Thai and red curry too good
One of the best Thai restaurants I’ve ever been. Pad Kea Mow Beef is a bomb. The employees are always nice. Panang Curry is amazing as always. Can’t complain. Everything is golden. One of the hidden gems in the city.
Delicious, authentic Thai food with large portions and friendly staff. TV behind the bar with sports on and a very spacious and floral seating area. Stir fry, Thai tea, and mango sticky rice are very good
On street parking. No wait. Delicious food.
Their khao piak is so good. My favorite in the Bay Area.
I absolutely love this place

Champa Gardens on Faxon st off Ocean Avenue, unassuming Thai restaurant with a black entrance door.
Inside simply decorated, bench seating tables around two walls and other tables with chairs, bar with some stools on the right, for some unknown reason only one other table occupied that day.
Service is fair with no frill.
The food is good, well prepared and plentiful, there were four of us, we all picked a different dish and shared.
We ordered the Champa sampler, Mango paradise, lad Na noodles, and chicken dish cooked in a red spicy sauce served with haricot vert( al denté)
All that food was prepared and served to us within less than 10 minutes.
The sampler served with lettuce leaves, with which you make a container to fill with spiced sausages morcel, eggroll and delicious fried rice, that was a meal in itself,
Next Mango paradise delicious tender prawn with tangy and sweet mango in a red sauce,
Pad kea mow with pork, somewhat a soupy dish served with steamed broccoli, good but not my favorite, last we had that chicken dish in a red spicy sauce served with haricot vert, all good, we ordered also two small bowl of steamed rice, all in all four very delectable dishes for about $75 (before tip) not bad for San Francisco. We will go back and try other dishes.
A restaurant to go for Thai or Lao food. Good
food and good service. Definitely I would recommend to anyone.
I love champa! I come here at least 3 times a month, the service is always fast and I’ve never had something I didn’t love!

Great place to have incredible bowls of soup and much more. The waiters are helpful and friendly. Food tastes great. My favorite is silver glass Tom Yum soup and they know how I like it. Cannot go wrong with this place. And it is open every day.
Straightforward Lao/Thai standards (including noodle soups) served at this cozy establishment on a side street off Ocean.
Kao Sow noodle soup, heaping portion of noodles served in unctuous broth, with ground pork and choice of protein. Pretty good, but not the absolute best in the Bay Area.
Will be back to try other dishes!
Best tom kha in the bay!
Worst pad Thai I’ve ever had.
The staff and good here was absolutely amazing. They were so kind and accommodating to us, and took care when the spice was a little too much for us. Highly recommend this place to anyone who’s looking for authentic Thai food:)
amazing staff and food, great service over all!
Giving 1 star because we waited over 45 mins for our food order. This is unacceptable as 4 door dash orders and 2 other orders came out before my order. Such a shame as the food is pretty good. I wouldnt have minded if my wife and kids were not waiting in the car for that long. Also I checked in with them 2x before getting my order.
Obsessed with this place! Can't believe we now live 2 minutes walk from it. Their thom kha soup is so delicious and creamy, my wife is addicted to it. Love that they have a variety of Thai and Laotian style dishes, which you don't find often. Their noodles are such glutenous goodness, really hits the spot when you want some comfort food.
Best Thai food in San Francisco. Must get the eggplant and any of the noodle dishes. Sampler is a must!
Pad Thai was terrible. Served cold, beef was way over cooked like jerky and had little to no flavor, general flavor of the entire dish tasted like cheap canned tomato paste, no spices. So sad. Could’ve been a lot better…
So delicious!!!! Got the avocado rolls, Thai fried rice, pad Thai, green curry tofu, and Thai tea. Completely forgot to take a pic of everything but it was the best Thai in this area we have found so far! Loved it! Thank you
Meh. Maybe it was an off night, but the food was very average. Service was underwhelming as well.
Everything was so yummy!
Food could have been really good but many dishes I'm used to being served hot we're room temperature. Room temp sausage, cold undercooked green beans in the curry. BUT the crispy rice salad was great!
Food and service was great!
Best food in the Bay area and one of the best owners in the biz. A++
Great flavorful food and good service
Its delicious! Try Champa samlper, spicy coconut soup, champa fried rice, basil beef stir fry
Delicious food and big portions. We ordered the house special, Lao sausages, wonton soup and Mus as man curry. Everything was sooo flavorful. I highly recommend
Definitely get the Champa sampler!
Fresh, fast and delicious food with excellent service. A family favorite spot for dining in and take out.
Five stars is not enough!!!!
Love coming here
This place has the best South East Asian food in SF, in my opinion. If you don’t know what to order, then order the sampler.
Solid spot for Laotian and Thai food
Great yellow chicken curry with coconut brown rice. The steamed shrimp spring rolls were excellent!
Overall good foods and good service. Worth it to come and eat here.
All their food is good
Mid afternoon delight. Food as always was great. Good menu choices for Vegetarian and non vegetarian food lovers. A local favorite
This is the second time Champa Garden has cancelled my Door Dash order at or near the 35 minute delivery time. The food is good, but the service in store is poor and the reliability on Door Dash is plain awful.
The food is good, don’t get me wrong. But the service is trash. When I’ve dined there, the food servers aren’t really cognizant of who’s been waiting to order and for how long. And when I order from UberEats, they will sometimes forget part of an item. I ordered a seafood pad gra pow one time and it arrived with no seafood. I also asked for utensils and it didn’t have any. The food is great, maybe a tad bit overpriced, but it’s just really too bad that when you have such good food, the service is completely amiss. It’s really like they have zero training in customer service. Sadly, I just don’t think I can go there or order from them anymore. What’s the point when there’s no human follow-through?
Good but not excellent. Papaya salad unique and awesome (and very spicy which they can tone down). The Duck/eggplant/peppercorn specialty dish was unfortunately disappointing.
This place was added to our visit-again list. Three of us left with supper full three tummies but still hunger for more. Nam Kaow was in Appetizer category but it was very filling because it was filled rice and lao sausages. It is very different from any other asian food. I love the crunchy from the deep fry rice ball and peanut, the right amount of acidity that made it go well with cilantro and lettuce. The papaya salad went very well with the rice vermicelli. The stir fry flat noodle (Chow fun) is filled with basil made this variety more flavorful.
This restaurant is by far one of my favorites, it should be more valued and pricey for the amazing quality of the food. It’s Definitely considered a hidden gem in San Francisco in my book.
the last 2 times I went there, about 2 years ago, the food was definitely below par. Unfortunate because I love Cambodian/Laotian food. But I was there 2 days ago and they are back in good form. The food as good as their other place in Oakland.
tried it the first time it was mediocre. gave it a second chance it was WORST. ordered the special sticky rice and served a mess of wet rice looked like a scraped leftover with unidentifiable radioactive liquid mixed in. I wii NEVER EVER STEP NEAR THE establishment again ( and they charged $60 total for the junk plus 1 beer). Lucky I ordered a Heineken
FOOD:
The best Laotian/Vietnamese fusion I have ever tasted. This is a must-visit place even by Vancouver standards, the supposedly Asian food capital of North America.
Their pho is great value for all the ingredients packed inside (I have never seen that much) the rich, thick broth that puts all of our pho places to shame. There is only one bowl size but that was enough to fill me up because of how much there was.
DRINK:
The Thai iced tea I got was not overly sweet, and they give you the milk on the side to adjust to your taste. The drink was almost like liquid version of butterscotch pudding! It goes perfectly with the pho to balance out its greasiness and savouriness.
INTERIOR:
If you want to have private discussions or an intimate setting, look elsewhere. The wide-open floorspace means you see and are seen by everyone dining. But don't worry about keeping up appearances; the restaurant is laid-back so I would come in with my sweatpants anytime just so I don't worry about my pants being too tight when I'm done eating.
I remember when they first opened and everything was great. I order from here once in awhile when I'm craving Lao food and don't feel like making it or going to the East Bay.
Foooood:
- The sampler is always my go-to but the Lao sausages were not good (need more spices) and the Nam Khao was underwhelming and didn't taste fresh (always skimping on the som moo too).
- The Lao-style papaya salad was dry and just so plain. I love when it's juicy and dark but that wasn't the case here. It's always so inconsistent.
- The pad thai was also dry and didn't even come out hot. The noodles were also still a little hard. My partner ordered duck with it and they gave a very small amount and in the form of tiny pieces of chopped up duck.
Overall, food prices have gone up while quality has gone down. I probably won't be coming back anymore because I know it's not a reliable place for good Lao food.
Had the Lao Vermicelli and it was delicious. I subbed chicken with shrimp and veggies and they kindly accommodated.
Ordered Pad kee Mao, it smelled and tasted stale. One of the sauces or something had definitely gone bad, could not have more than a mouthful. I would be very wary of ordering from here!! Definitely expected better..
Have been going here for over 2 years and the quality of food has noticeably declined since COVID began. Not sure what's up but last meal puchased will be our last. Tilapia fried fish was stale and seemed cooked twice. The Lao style som tam is never satisfying for my girlfriend, who knows som tam. Food doesn't seem fresh, especially their sticky rice. Terrible quality grain and always seems a day or at least 12 hours old. Ashame that things have gone this far!
Amazing!!
Food was ok. It was nice, aesthetically, but the flavor was a bit bland and missing the usual savory taste you’d expect from Thai food. I was looking forward to eating what I had ordered as it’s a Thai/Laos restaurant.
Guy taking orders and greeting was rude food was good
Wonderful cuisine. Texture, flavor, presentation were excellent. Fresh ingredients and wonderful broth in soups
Get the sampler plater. Enough said
I was ecstatic to find out I could door dash lao food since lao restaurants are a rare find in L.A. I've only had their lao sausages, sticky rice and papaya salad. Delicious. Although the 2nd time I ordered, they wrap the papaya salad in foil and pack it in a box with noodles and cabbage. I found a long brownish blonde hair in my papaya salad box with the noodles and cabbage. A bit of a turn off but I'm not gonna lie, I'll still order from Champa again.
It was amazing!
Found 2 strands of hairs in my food.
Ordered the Champa Sampler (rice ball salad was the best but everything was SO FLAVORFUL and good!), Kaow Poont - Lao's Vermicelli (coconut soup was great and wasn't spicy at all), and Pad Kea Mow - Drunken Noodles (much better than I expected and has a sweeter flavor than I've ever had). Food was a great mix of flavors and textures, and I would definitely order from here again!
Good Food
Amazing food
I came for a late lunch here. I arrived about 1:30 in the place was pretty empty. I was advised to take any seat that I wanted. Since I was eating by myself I only got the Champa sampler plate which gives you threedifferent appetizer items. It was actually too much food just for myself. So I am glad I didn't order a main dish. Service was sparse as, I was only spoked up once for water refill. soon enough there was a few more tables that popped up. People actually had to go to the counter to go get the tray of condiments for their food. I wouldn't try to park on the main street, which is ocean avenue, I would park in the residential area. But I would warn against leaving any valuables in sight as car break-ins have been moving into the residential neighborhoods of San Francisco. I would say definitely come with friends so you could get more items to share. I'm so glad that I found out they had this location in San Francisco because I've only been to the one in Oakland.
This is my favorite restaurant! Everything on the menu is amazing, you can’t go wrong. The Thai curries are some of the best I’ve ever had. The delivery is fast. Highly recommended.
Very disappointing: taste is very mediocre and portion is small for price.
Love this place. My favorite Thai place in town.
Our favorite Thai restaurant! Everything is so delicious at a reasonable price.
Medium prices and professional staff! Yummy
Everything I have tried from Champa Garden has been fantastic, super flavorful, delicious and fresh. I love that there are many vegetarian and vegan options.
Highly recommend. Support Local. So lucky to have them in my home neighborhood.
Wonderful place for curry!!
Love this place
My first time having Laotian food! Cool experience
Good food.
Yum. Legit. Love. #spoileralert
Many options on the menu, both Thai and some Lao food. Really enjoyed my food, good vegetarian options. Good service. Never have a problem getting a table. Have only been for lunch though.
Everything here is good
Lackluster food and service. Send gift certificates for this restaurant to your enemies.
Love love love. Definite recommend. Crispy rice ball salad. All time fave spot for this. Garlic oil is a game changer. Love all the condiments they offer.
Tom Kha and "house special" ( catfish with eggplant and sprigs of fresh peppercorns) excellent. Laotian version of green papaya salad not for the faint of heart. Good service.
Very good food, fast service.
Good food
Really good food
Delicious food, but the place is a little small for big group.
Always our go-to for Thai / Malaysian cuisine and they have gluten-free and peanut-free options. The Champa sampler and the Tom Kha soup are our two favorites.
Not a lot of flavor
