This place was a hidden gem! We were on the hunt for good Thai in San Diego and found this as being highly rated. It wasn’t busy, we were promptly seated and served, and our food was freshly cooked to order. The yellow and panang curry sauces were perfectly thick, well-spiced, and the drunken noodles and pad thai were also perfect! The only downside was that the place was a little run down and dirty. Lots of thick dust on the ceiling fans had us turning our heads away a bit. Food and service, A+, cleanliness C average.
Pretty good Thai food!
Ordered the Tom Kha soup with chicken; not a thick soup but very flavorful. Really enjoyed the little white, thin mushrooms in it.
I also had the Pad Thai with chicken. I liked the taste.. The noodles were not too starchy and the sauce was nice.
Their Thai Iced-tea was delicious, not too sweet, and very creamy; Yum!
The service was quite but good (not a lot of pestering, so you could just enjoy the food).
This place is super delicious! Fresh food, wonderful plate presentation, friendly staff, great prices, and delicious dishes! Meat, non-meat, dairy, non-dairy, great portions, and the Thai Tea is fantastic!
I had yellow curry with mock duck, moon puffs, Thai fried rice, and Thai Tea. Fabulous! Dine in, masks required for entry, clean dining area, also food to go orders. I will return soon! Thank you for the dinner!
Really good experience here! The place was a bit empty which made me a bit hesitant but the girl serving that day made me feel very welcome! Was very helpful while I was ordering. Unsure if she made the food too but she was very friendly and reassuring tasty good! Got pad Thai with tofu very tasty! and some cream cheese Rangoon! Overall good experience and decent amount for the price!
I felt an urge for a thai coffee and found this place right off of El Cajon Blvd. There was only 1 table occupied, by a family there when I stopped in. I ordered two Thai coffees and a Cashew Nut Bowl with Crispy Chicken.
The Thai Coffee tasted slightly salty for some reason which was confusing at first but grew on me as I drank it, almost likely salted caramel.
The bowl tasted pretty good, decent amount of chicken and vegetables. And it came with a potsticker and a vegetable roll. Only complaint was the chicken being in the sauce wasn’t crispy as advertised.
Overall service was good and fast, food was good, and price point was decent. I’d agree with the average rating of between 4/5.

Best place ever!💓
Really the best asian food place close by!
Drunken Noodle is my favorite one!
The chicken wings are slimy and fatty. They need to be cooked way longer. Couldn’t even get the meat off the wing and had all drumsticks no flats.
The lunch special of Spicy drunken noodles is really delicious. I’ll suggest this if you’re looking a go-to lunch.
I got the drunken noodles, pad thai noodles and panang curry and it was some of the best thai food I’ve ever had. Highly highly recommend!
Mein Orange Chicken war hart und zu scharf, obwohl ich nachfragen ob es scharf ist. Die Eggrolls waren sehr gut.
Best Thai place in the College/Rolando/La Mesa areas!!
Good thai food. Just need some Thailand vibe.
A friend picked up a ticko order here on mother's Day afternoon. They took the order and prepared it quickly and she was on her way. When she got here we were both pleasantly surprised at how fresh the dishes looked considering they were take out. My veggies were crisp tender and it was one of the best garlic pepper chickens I have had. My friend also raved about her pad see ew with beef and tofu. The mango sticky rice was delicious but the mango was a bit tart! It was the perfect orange yellow color and it was soft but there was some darkness to it so we're not sure what that was about. Regardless the meal was delicious and reasonably priced, and we would definitely go back here again!
Got food delivered. Ordered crispy cashew chicken. It arrived rather quickly which was nice. Nothing about the chicken was crispy. It was a soggy slimy mess that I barely took one bit of and in the trash it went. Nasty.
I went with a friend for an early lunch (11:30A) and we decided to try La Moon Thai Eatery and I'm glad we did!
It's a small, quiet restaurant and at the time we were the only people besides a family that came and ordered after we did and later a takeout order.
The staff (1 woman) was very pleasant and cheerful. Not sure if she also was preparing the food or just serving but she was efficient.
They have a few gluten free options which for me is essential!
Their online menu lists ingredients and which items are gluten free *restaurant menu does not unfortunately, so I'd check the online menu first as the staff wasn't completely sure yet did double check and confirm before putting order in to kitchen.
I'd wanted to try their Drunken Noodles but was informed that it wasn't gluten free.
I went with my second choice and had the (mild) Green Curry with chicken and was instantly impressed with the flavors, just the right amount of spicy and portion (enough for a modest lunch and dinner)
My friend also enjoyed her meal of (mild) Green Curry w Tofu
The only other downside to experience is they don't take cash, it is card only no cash🚫💵 (small sign posted on the register) so I was glad my friend had her card as I only had cash.
Delicioso!! Súper rico
Seemed like most of their orders are take outs so the restaurants always seem a bit empty. I Love their Thai green tea, cheese wontons, chicken satay, and soup. Some of the main courses were a bit too sweet to my taste. Staff were friendly. Will come back to try more items on the menu.
Go-to for Thai food takeout. Favorites: pad woon sen; pad see ew; specialty fried rice; ho mok; yellow curry. Phone in your order ahead of time because this place gets busy.
Also, volle Empfehlung, 10 von 10!

Everything at this place is 5 stars. Delicious food
Each time we eat here it's been an awesome experience.
They have the BEST food around! We fed 5 adults on 100 bucks, and I still have lunch for tomorrow. Everything tastes really, really, good! 😊
Excellent food and very friendly staff
Got it through DoorDash so paid a premium but it was delicious. I ordered classic yellow chicken curry with jasmine rice, plain Pad Thai, papaya salad, and cheese filled puffs. I ordered level seven spicy on everything because I like it hot! I would absolutely recommend and order again. I look forward to trying it at the restaurant one of these days. I appreciated that the curry was filled with white meat chicken, tender, potatoes, crunchy onions, extra spice on top, wasn’t too thick and wasn’t too sweet. A+
Some friends and I ordered this tonight to try a different place. I must say that their Spicy Panang Curry is the absolute best Panang Curry in San Diego. I would highly recommend.
This place rocks. Very consistent experience. Love calling over the phone and having my food ready for takeout. Only thing I would suggest is spicier options, although if you ask for an "11" on their scale of 1-10, they will deliver, but the jump from 10 to 11 is way larger than the jump from 9 to 10.
The food taste really really good
I lived in China for four years and traveled to Thailand several times, and I can say I was very impressed by the authenticity, quality and flavor of the Thai food here. It's also quiet and not crowded so a perfect hidden gem.
The first time I ordered from La Moon, I was ordering Thai food on Doordash, and had decided to take a chance and try someplace other than my usual Plumeria, which is really good. I ordered the Pad See Ew, as usual, and the crab fried rice, since I usually get some kind of fried rice. The food arrived piping hot and well packaged. And when I opened up the fried rice, choirs of angels performed a tastefully choreographed operatic number. Holy cow. (Holy crab?) The fried rice was absolutely incredible. The pad see ew was also amazing, but the RICE.
Since that order (scarcely three weeks ago) I have ordered, um, every week. Twice now I've gone and picked it up instead of ordering delivery. The food has been equally amazing every time.
Now, if you decide to do pick up instead of delivery, there are a few things to know. The parking lot is usually crowded and full, because there is another place in the tiny strip mall that is very popular (Cheba Hut... which may or may not be a restaurant also selling weed or hash or maybe both? Really fun to park in front of them while you wait for your La Moon order to be ready so you can peoplewatch).
Also, the interior of La Moon is extremely modest and clean but not very atmospheric. Although, the last time I went to pick up food, two days ago, there was a white guy there who had clearly ordered his spice level a notch too high. There was a lot of loud exhaling and equally loud inhaling, humming, and a general stream of vocalization. Entertaining, if you like that sort of thing.
They have been out of the papaya salad the last two times I've been here, which makes me wonder if it is just immensely popular or they're just still figuring out how much to have on hand.
But the headline item here is that I am obsessed with their crab fried rice. I'm wondering if I can get a subscription for just that item, possibly, or start ordering in bulk, perhaps. I need more of La Moon in my life. Do I even have to say I recommend this place?
EDIT one month later: having ordered the amazing crab fried rice about six times now (don't judge), tonight when I ordered, the crab fried rice was very hard. Either undercooked or old and dried out. Either way, not so good, although the egg and sauce and crab were all still great. I called the restaurant to see if they'd be willing to remake the order. They were, so I brought the rice back in case they wanted to see it as proof. I was a bit surprised by the customer service as they first said that they had changed the recipe to a bit dryer because customers had complained it was too wet and said I should just ask for it to be wetter next time, as though I would have known that ahead of time? And then, the kicker: they asked "did you eat all the crab?" That did rub me the wrong way, because no, I hadn't, and I'd already given them back my full container, and I didn't like the implication that I was trying to scam them. I mean, yeah, I guess that's the world we live in, but I already hate taking food back because I feel guilty about the extra work. I felt uncomfortable and kind of sad that I've supported them and also talked about them so much and then they treated me like I was just trying to get some free food. Bummer. I have mixed feelings about them now.
This place is super delicious! Fresh food, wonderful plate presentation, friendly staff, great prices, and delicious dishes! Meat, non-meat, dairy, non-dairy, great portions, and the Thai Tea is fantastic!

Really good food and great customer service!
Great food, great price. One of the best places to eat in the area, would highly recommend! Wonton Soup is a MUST.
love this restaurant!! Everyone is very friendly and their food always tastes super great. it’s my go-to restaurant!!
Great restaurant. Nothing else need be said!
Hidden gem!!!

The service was quite but good (not a lot of pestering, so you could just enjoy the food).
no one was at the register so i stepped into the bathroom and as soon as i came out they kicked me out without giving me the chance to order.
I used the restroom before ordering and the guy basically quicked me out, didn't even give me a chance to order.
Best Thai meal ever! Good service.Loved it
This place was Perfect. Super nice inside clean and friendly. My mom never really likes going out to try new things so I offered her some Thai food and she usally says no. I gave her The menu through the phone and it looks like she doesn’t want anything but I saw the lobster fried rice on specialty and she loved it. She usually eats the same few meals but she really enjoyed the lobster fried rice is a little pricey but it’s definitely worth it especially when they put the hot sauce on the side.
We were the only customer's eating in. Lots of to- go and pick- up clients.
We had a great server and a tasty meal.
Great food and amazing service. Food came out quick and the waiter was super attentive. Definitely going back
Good food but beware if you're dining in with a big group they charged us 18% gratuity without telling us, not worth of the service they gave us. Food came one at a time basically slow service, ended not eating the last 3 dishes that came in coz we're full by then. I would have understand if you're a classy restaurant but you're not. Not disclosing the 18% gratuity at the end of the bill is not acceptable!!!
I call La Moon to put in to-go orders more than I call anyone else honestly!!- conveniently very close to SDSU and always amazing service. I LOVE the pad see ew and green curry they're my go-tos. I usually order via phone or on their website and pick up and they are always very reliable and have my orders ready on time.
Always love the pho. I guess im just a foodie.
One of the best Thai places in town. Everything here is really good, always fresh and the customer service is top notch. Highly recommend supporting this small business.
The food is delicious.
Good service but the food is awful ... the pad thai is just a heap of gooey, overcooked noodles sprinkled with a little chicken. Gross.
Food is pretty good, not enough meat with the curry though only a few pieces. Also the lady in front is super rude and grumpy.
I don’t know about the food nor do I really care, but the lady or girl that works the front has a nasty attitude. You need a different job. #attitudeistrash
I'm giving this place a 5 stars because their pad Thai is addictive. Perfect flavor texture combination and their tofu and mock duck options are rad.
Their price point, while being on point in San Diego, is a bit high for me. I wish they had lunch specials because I would get them like 3x a week. 😆
Place is very cute, nice ambience, but seems empty every time I'm there during the day. Hope they get a great nighttime crowd because I really like this place!
Best Pad Thai around! We order regularly thanks la moon!
Pictures don’t even do it any justice! It’s my FAVORITE Thai restaurant in San Diego, the price isn’t too expensive (like most Thai places out here) and the QUALITY is ALWAYS THERE!! I’ve never had a bad experience with customer service, quite the opposite actually, I’ve had nothing but great experiences and conversations! Good food and good energy, it’s unbeatable! This is my go to Thai spot and I know it will be yours too!
Friendly staff, good food
The food is good but unfortunately the Costumer service is pretty bad, today Oct 27 around 6-7pm the front desk a young lady doesn't have commun sense or customer service skills, any small request she rolled her eyes at me, she acts like if you own her a favor she always have an attitude, this is not the first time that I ask food and grave a table to eat there and she ended giving me my food to go, is like she doesn't want to deal with people inside so she order all to go without even asking or care.
So long story short
She let me know my food was ready (in bags to go)
I still nicely asked plates to eat there( like okay no big deal I just can still eat here) she showed an attitude when I ask for plates and only provided me 1 plate when we where 2 people, nothing else, no a "sorry for give me all to go" nothing else then just 1 plate. So disrespectful!.
I'm not supporting this bisness no more. She is often at the front desk and everytime she have this attitude this is not the first time. I keep giving them chances but is enough.
We used to order takeout quite a bit and sometimes ate in for a normal restaurant experience. Things have changed a lot since the pandemic. Now it operates like a cafeteria and everything is disposable plastic. They don't have the pepper sauce they used to either.
I ordered soup thinking it would be out right away but everything took a while and came together on a cafeteria tray. The soup was too hot to eat till everything else was gone
The customer service not good , the place is not clean, dirty after placing my order waited 20 min., plenty of time to looking around. Not going back!!!! Stay away
Food tastes good but the fried rice gave my friend the runs. Also, the young female working at the front is very rude and rolled her eyes at us when we made a small request. So one star for my yummy entree. Minus stars for my friend's diarrhea, rude service and the eye rolling we received.
Food was flavorful and tasty. They apparently don't have ice for water nor do they provide hot water, so make wise choices about your beverage.
Amazing yellow mock duck curry and mango sweet sticky rice!
Good food, reasonable prices ($12-15 per entree), decent portions.
Rude and terrible customer service. Ordered panang curry with jasmine rice and they forgot to pack rice. I was passing through the neighborhood when I picked. After 30 mins of driving when I open the box it has rice missing and when I call this lady answers the phone rudely and wanted to refund 50 cents for the $12 panang curry + rice. I tried to explain that I can't eat the curry without the rice but she didn't listen.
Some of the best Thai food in town. Wonderful people and food. Highly recommend the Kai Tod.
We ordered a dish mild and the food was so spicy it was inedible. We then went to get it fixed and the cashier lady at the front gave a lot of attitude. At the end of it all, they gave me my same dish back redressed as a new and fixed dish. What a joke of a business.
I asked for non spicy, got too spicy to eat. When i asked for a remake, they got an attitude. When i said i would no longer order food from them they yelled at me to leave. I'll never go back - the chefs dont even wear a mask
The food is not that good here!!!! I asked to speak to the manager cause I found something in my food and the manager/ Owner was very rude to me and was in denial of what was in my food!!!! She didn't even try to replace my food.
This is the best Thai red curry in San Diego, by far. I order it almost once a week. Keep doing what you are doing La Moon, you are killing it.
The Chicken was NOT Fully Cooked , My Husband Bit Into A Piece Of Bloody Chicken . Will NOT be Returning .
Awesome place.
Both me and my son got sick!! Egg rolls were cold along with Dumplings won't be eating there any time soon!!
Good spot for thai food. Curry was delicious like curries tend top be. Not a fan of their soup that I don't remember what it's called.. also you're banana dessert thing wasn't great. I don't care much about those cause the chicken wings without the sauce they give you with the order are delicious.
Absolutely loved the good and neighborhood atmosphere. The soup was fresh and tasty. We also had beef curry and sauteed eggplant. Delicious! I will return!
The food was very tasty 😊. The service was great. We had the BBQ chicken and the teriyaki chicken. Not to expensive either.
Noodles are fine
Excellent food & service. Large servings & good pricing.
Tiny spot, but their dishes serve up big flavor. There are many Thai restaurants in the area but this one really stood out for me. Parking might be an issue during the day, but at night most surrounding businesses are closed.
Visiting my husband's hometown and wanted Thai food. I was thoroughly satisfied. The spicy fried rice with chicken, fried rice with shrimp and Tom yum soup was DELISH. I recommend.
Very good food
Excellent food and service! Gluten Free options hit the spot for me :) Delish
Food is always great here! I normally order delivery so I haven't physically been in the restaurant in over a year. Back in today and noticed the new mural and learned they are under new ownership. Pop in and support this great family business and have a fantastic meal at the same time!
Not too far from SDSU. Very good soups. Had vegetable stir fry with fish and was glad to have ordered. Fast and friendly service.
This is an immaculate neighborhood eatery with good food and extremely friendly, fast and efficient service. It's beautifully decorated with mural-decorated walls with Thai motifs. It has a beer and wine license and offers a selection of regular and Thai teas and other beverages.
Great food and service. Attractive interior design.
Super sweet waitresses, really delicious curry!
Great Food and great service 👍
The food here was all very fresh, and the flavors were balanced perfectly. The servers were very nice and relaxed about bothering you while still being attentive about drinks and other needs. Everything seems to be made from scratch to order and it was hot and delicious! Some of the best Thai food I've had to date. I can't wait to go back!
It was outstanding. The cashew chicken is spectacular. The sauces are hand made and super delicious. I highly recommend it.
Service is always a little slow. The place is clean and there's always plenty of seating at night. The music seems like a blend of pop songs done by karaoke. Would've enjoyed more of a Thai style music theme. Make me feel like I'm in Thailand.
1st time here. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken. Worst i have ever had the broccoli was wayy undercooked and tasted funny. The chicken was so dry, there was no sweet and sour sauce AT ALL. The rice tasted dry as well and was probably microwaved. & the portion was ridiculously small for 15$. One broccoli that i could even eat due to the lack of quality. Was really hoping I found a new favorite thai place by my house but i guess not.
Great food. Nice service
Great food!
Excellent spice, freshness, friendly timely service, a welcoming vibe, wishing you much success in our neighborhood 💖
Great food and service. I love the Pad Thai noodles, they're delicious, the Tom Yum soup is really tasty and the Crab Cheese Rangoon too. I highly recommend those dishes. The Thai tea and the mango cheesecake are good too. The teriyaki chicken that I had was too salty though, and it didn't had that sweetness that you usually find in the teriyaki sauce. The place is cute inside and they play nice music.
This is a hidden nook down the street from my house and after 6 years I finally discovered it.
So heres the scoop.
Dont order the Tom Kha, its way too watery, even for soup. Its just not satisfying.
The Massaman Curry is delicious, and loaded with meat, but the potatoes were undercooked and hard, and the sauce was a bit watery on arrival, but thickened up to normal consistency after sitting for a few mins. We also added crushed peanuts which added to it. But the flavor was perfect and we had no regrets.
The Spicy Noodles were a winner as well. This place does not skimp on the meat at all.
Nice portions, great flavor. Just dont get the soup.
Everything we ordered was delicious. It is clean and the service was good. I had the bbq chicken and it was really delicious. Everyone else liked their food a lot. I would highly recommend.
I love the food, the staff, everything. I believe it all to be healthy, inexpensive, creative and delightful. Its a small place that had one staffing problem where they were super busy and my gf hates to wait. We came back and looks like they doubled their staff.
The Curry is watery but flavorful overall the food isn't very interesting or good. Comes with rice not mentioned and the chicken wings are good but very small. I order an extra rice and round a got river swichee into a ball wrapped in foil. Inside the rice was a piece of strong similar to dental floss. absolutely disgusting.
Definitely I will be back, servers here are very nice and foods are great too. I ordered salmon panang and crab rangoon toxay. The server told me they have lunch special on weekdays,so next time i will try ordering.
Very cozy atmosphere plus food is amazing.
Great Desserts
Very nice restaurant with great food
I am fond of Thai food and this new restaurant becomes my go to place for authentic Thai food cravings. They serve plenty of vegetarian options. I tried Half Moon Puff, Red curry, and Thai Fried rice. The flavors of the food were incredibly delicious and presentation was outstanding. Staff is extremely friendly and provides great service.
I went there for the first time for quick lunch, really enjoy music and food there. Service was excellent too
I’ve eaten there about six times, trying different dishes each time. They all have been fantastic. I’m looking forward to whatever I try next.
Came here for a lunch date w 2 of my besties and was pleasantly surprised! Started off w the tom yum as an appetizer and was very well portioned- in fact i almost got full with just this! I proceeded with the red curry. And let me tell ya-amazing!! Full of flavor, so much bamboo and even had eggplant!( love this as many places i ask for extra bamboo and never has as much as this curry did!) I am very pleased and will definitely be comibg here again! The prices were extremely reasonable as well. Perfect spot
Enjoy the food and atmosphere, friendly staffs. Thank you to put it all together. Love it
Lad Nar noodle with shrimp and peach ice tea. Yummy
Came here with family for birthday party. Was impressed for everything and the amazing food and amazing hospitality!! Great new spot my Thia Food.
Love this place! Great Thai food and really friendly people working there. I eat a lot of Thai food and this was very authentic. I don't usually write reviews, but thought this spot was worth the time to weigh-in.
Really good Thai food! Super friendly staff! I highly recommend!
The Thai tea was delicious and the staff are super friendly!
