This independently owned restaurant that has been at this location for 35 years. The restaurant is decorated with traditional Thai decorations including a large crystal chandelier and all of it is impeccably clean. The staff is extremely friendly and smiling. The food is delicious and creatively presented. The server brings a silver bowl of rice to the table and spoons out portions for each guest.

/20/25 -Four of us dropped in around 7:30 after catching a late afternoon showing of the Bob Dylan biopic. Easy to get to on Swift Rd with lots of easy parking in a small strip mall it’s become our must go Thai eatery every time we vacation in Sarasota. The Bangkok’s decor is a cut above the rest. It got a soothing ambiance with beautiful asian decorations throughout and intricately carved wooden tables with glass covers. The restaurant was busy but not overly crowed and I was especially appreciative that one of the male managers brought over an extra chair so that my portable oxygen concentrator didn’t have to sit out in the aisle on the floor. The food is just spectacular. We all ordered different things and we all were WOWED!.
My brother-in-law started out with a cup of soup, which was really a small bowl. It was chocked full of chicken and vegetable chunks. Then he went on to an order of yellow curry loaded with chicken. My wife got the Pad Si-ew wide flat rice noodle dish with pork and broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, peppers, along with some unrecognizable exotics. My sister-in-law got a scrumptious duck entre’ while I got the Penang Curry with the combination seafood protein. This redish-orange curry is a delicately flavored thick Northern-style spicy but not burning hot red curry simmered in coconut milk. Mine was loaded with large (26-30 count) shrimp, scallops, and squid as well as red and green bell peppers and served with a big plate of Jasmin rice.
The delicious food, the beautiful atmosphere, attentive, long time waitstaff all roll together to make this our favorite Thai restaurant in Sarasota.

Worst Thai food I’ve ever had. Pad Thai was extremely dry, very little flavor. Crab Rangoon tasted like it had been doused in hot sauce. Not cheap either. Never again, good was so bad they don’t deserve a second chance.

Definitely one of the best Thai places in Sarasota. I've been coming here since the early 2000s and have never been disappointed. I especially love the chicken satay, the curries and the Pad Thai (of course). All the staff are very gracious as well.

DO NOT COME 30 MINURES BEFORE CLOSING TIME. I came a little bit before closing and they didn’t let me dine in because apparently there weren’t enough people there. The food was pretty mid if you order the right thing. The pillows were very uncomfortable.

My husband loves Duck and he said they make the best he has ever had.
I don’t eat meat, and for me, the other selections were excellent too.

Extremely happy I went here! Greeted so nicely, great service, very attentive and the food was AMAZING!! I had the shrimp stir fry and was so impressed with the quality of food. Super fresh veggies, just a great experience. I will absolutely be back!

Have been going to this restaurant for years Services always excellent food is always excellent had green curry medium heat today for early lunch we were amung their first customers and the food & service was on par- I suggest the tiger tear salad any of the currys and for dessert the purple rice cannot be beat love it.

When I went here it was for me and my girlfriend’s anniversary and is in a wheelchair because of having spina bifida But even though I was short on cash I wanted to please her so I was lucky enough to have gathered just enough money for 2 meals for both of us, the meals were great and I paid the check but unfortunately I sadly didn’t have enough money to give a tip so the actual waiter walked up to us and said we know you are regulars here but if you don’t leave a tip then you can’t come back here again and I tried to explain why I didn’t have enough and then she said oh well we have it all on camera so we can check, and I was stunned that a waitress would actually do that to us so now I really don’t think I want to come back to this place if that’s what they do to people, very disappointing...

The food is very good (I do take out quite often) but the busy, noisy atmosphere is more fun. It's decorated in a slightly tacky way, but having spent time in Thailand and Malaysia, I can say it's not the North American version of Thai, it's exactly what you'd find in a nice family restaurant in Thailand. No pretense here. Very cozy. EXCELLENT service.

Can't say it was terrible but I can't say it was good either. 3 of us had full dinners and appetizers. None of us, were very happy - none of us liked our dinners much at all. In fact we chatted and said, "yuk".
This is so sad. It once was so delicious but sadly this night was a poor example of Tasty Thai food folks.

Our family has been coming here for years and is a place that we all enjoy. I particularly love all of their curry dishes.

First time eating here and the atmosphere was really cool. Definitely worth the experience going. Service was great and everyone was friendly. Didn’t have to wait for a table and went on a Saturday around 6:00PM.

We ordered the crispy wontons and ribs for appetizers. Ribs had a good sauce on them but the wontons meat inside was very bland.

For meals we ordered the pad Thai and chicken fried rice. Flavor in the fried rice was little to none in my opinion and the chicken tasted basically like bland boiled chicken. The rice was ok but kind of reminded me of a minute rice or something similar.

Overall, would go back but definitely wouldn’t suggest going here if you’re looking for a lot of flavor.

Had a separate section on menu for vegetarian. I had the red curry with veg, very yummy. For desert had the coconut ice cream with fried bananas! Had to share it as it came with three scoops!

Bangkok has bringing delicious, authentic Thai flavors to Sarasota for more than 30 years. The staff is incredibly friendly, service is quick, and prices are great.

I have been going to this restaurant for twenty three years and had my first bad meal there this week. The food was cold and should have been served sizzling hot. The seafood dish tasted as if rancid fish had been used, and was served almost as cold as the cold Satay Chicken on a stick.. The waitress seemed as if she could care less. The owner was abrupt but at least he took the uneaten and disappointing meal off of the bill.

Have been coming here for over 20 years. It isn't what it used to be. Hasn't been for a few years. The sauces have turned in to gravy, making it almost unenjoyable as most of the flavors come via the sauce. Too much thickener is being used and that's what you taste. The portions have shrunk, which is understandable in today's economy.

Since my whole family moved to Georgia, I can no longer enjoy this place. I miss it so much.

If you love Thai food, this place is a must! The potions aren't huge but they're not small either. Everything was fresh and hot. The ambience, service, and food was genuine; this isn't a chain restaurant run by people unfamiliar with Thai cuisine. We have gone back since and will continue to go. If you order vegetarian, make sure to stress that your meal be made that way; the first time I ordered a vegetable dish, it was seasoned with some type of fish sauce. They had no problem remaking it.

The pad thai is so good after I flavored it my way with a bit more lemon. Tom Kha was ok, but I am used to more mushrooms and galangal. My wife got the beef and broccoli, and it was a bit plain. I will definitely go back, but I will just skip the soup and get the yummy Pad Thai.

We have been dining at the Bangkok 4 times in 4 weeks and it always was delicious and pretty much consistent in taste and quality except the red curry which seemed a bit watery and thinner than usual the last time we ate there, but I am sure it will be good again next time. The Pad Krapow with tofu or chicken is very good. The restaurant has a nice Thai style flair and it is very clean. Service is friendly and attentive. We certainly will continue to dine there.

When you order coconut milk soup to go, you don't expect a 2% milk base with NO coconut flavor. Was watery, NO flavor. More onions than needed to be. 3 pieces of chicken to be exact. Absolutely disappointed. Needless to say, I will NOT be returning here. ✌️

Ate there for the very first time ever tonight. The food and atmosphere was great. The tofu pad Thai was delicious. It all went downhill after I left. Food poisoning symptoms hit me in less than a hour. What a shame.

We were looking for a new Thai restaurant and this place came recommended by friends. Looking around, the place looks nice, until you start looking at details. The headrest cushions in the booths are dingy and look like they've never been updated. Looking at the ceiling, the lights are full of black mold. Pretty sure this is a health violation. The fresh rolls were not what we expected, considering we are very accustomed to Thai cuisine. They were falling apart. Not much attention to putting out a quality presentation. The entrees were large portions, delicious, and I have to say made you forget about the dirty environment. The problem is, if they are not willing to keep the dining area clean, my guess is they have the same practices in the kitchen as well. Also, we are not large portion type people and prefer to share an entree. However, they charge you $4.00 extra for sharing a meal. This is a bit unethical in my opinion because if you did take-out and shared you would never charge to share. All-in-all its ok if you have lower standards for what you consider clean.

Was very excited to come get dinner here got off late from work and saw they were open till 10. Showed up at 9pm and they told me they could serve me or sit me down because “they were slow” I’ve been coming here for 20 years and always enjoyed the food but this was a a horrible way to be sent out after driving 30 minutes to get here.

Quite a shame as the food used to be decent. Definitely cutting corners now that the snowbirds are gone. Food has gone stale and they’ve taken to microwaving the meat to revitalize the prior evenings poor selling items. I brought it to the owners attention and he did nothing.

Just another example of a restaurant catering to tourists and forgetting about the the local population that gave the business its start.

I've had my fair share of thai food and I really feel like this was sub par. Granted it was takeout, that's why I'm giving a 4 stars review. They were ready with my order when expected so that was great. We ordered chicken pad thai and pad see ew and they were just okay, nothing special. I'd go somewhere else next time

They close at 9:30 on Tuesday June 20th, so I called at 9:03 to place my order for 1 order of red curry. Not only was the young lady rude on the phone, but she also told me it was too late to take carry out orders. I explained to her that I only wanted 1 order of curry and that I have called several times before and that it takes 5 minutes to make. That's when she hung up on me. I have been a regular customer there, but after that experience I will be more than happy to take my money elsewhere.

Drunken noodle must have been cooked by a drunk. No spice or flavor. Scallops didn't even get cleaned properly. Vegetables were soggy no crunch or snap at all. Girl at checkout had to use a calculator to figure out my change. Bill was $23.01 and I gave her $24.00.
She returned $1.99 even after using a calculator. Probably the worse. experience. I've ever had. Anywhere.

Started coming to Bangkok a decade ago. No one has a Pad Thai that lives up to theirs. The hot crispy spring rolls dipped in sauce are the best. We also enjoy their massaman curry. It’s a great lunch spot because prices are affordable and service is quick. We became regulars here and always brought our young children. They never had a problem when I packed a little something my kids would eat and they always brought super fun kids drinks with party straws.

The decor sets an enjoyable mood. The tables are especially cool. The Pad Kee Mao wasn’t the best drunken noodles I’ve ever had, but they were pretty darn good. A person in my party stands by the Pad Prix Coconut every time he visits - can’t get enough of it. Rice was delicious and plentiful. Staff was attentive and friendly.

We used to go here once a week but during Covid they have no delivery at all.

Used to love it here, but the glassware and silverware was filthy. Lip stains on rims of glasses 🤢. Food was okay, just felt less than sanitary. Probably won’t be coming back. Spice station is the best in town now. Too bad, Sarasota icon and long standing business. I hope they get cleanliness in order. Polish your glasses and silverware!

Follow up: ordered takeout. The pad Thai noodles are mush and the chicken like rubber. That was sadly my last visit, I’m bummed. Their food used to be decent 🙁

Still excellent after all these years... We no longer live in the area, but when visiting this week my 7&10 yo begged to go to Bangkok for Pad Thai. (My fave is Pad Prik Coconut.)

Since we were visiting family we went with a large group. They were very gracious in accommodating us, a change in orders, sharing plates, and separate tickets. Truly excellent service.

Came in for lunch with a party of 5, and ate in less than an hour even with it being pretty full. I love to eat Thai food, and I can say this is probably the best I've had. The spring roll was great and crunchy. Crab Rangoon was perfectly done. The cup of wonton soup was fairly good, but could've used a little less onions. Finally, the Pad Thai I had was fantastic, one of my favorites I've had. Also I must say I was surprised when it was only $73 for the 5 of us.

Just a little caution though when it comes to spice: whatever spice you usually would get for food, go with one lower. I'm usually medium, and the medium I had with the Pad Thai was very spicy for me. Still very delicious though.
