Our mission at Thai Cuisine II is to provide the community of Merced with a unique and authentic Southeast Asian experience that has a wide diversity in our dishes that will satisfy your taste buds!!
Came in with my 3 young children. Was sat right next to the bar that was extremely loud. We placed our order and it was read back to us. We could barely hear due to the lively bar. They brought my husband the wrong dish. When made aware the server snobbish responded that she read us back our order and went into the back. About 5 minutes later she informed us that they would remake it but it was our fault that because she read back the order.
Our appetizers came significantly after our meal including my husband's remade meal. We were brought out 2 spoons for a total of 3 phos. Waters never refilled.
We get the check and there are 2 extra meals and an extra beverage on our tab. We were also charged one item as a pad thai instead of a thai fried rice. When I notified the person checking out my order there was snark comments from the horrendous server including "those are both the same price". As a regular customer paying a tab exceeding $100 each time, I was offered absolutley nothing to rectify the issue. Sadly, that the quality of service has deteriorated so significantly. We will not be returning.
I have eaten here a few times over the years, usually with colleagues. While there are large portions, at its best, the food is only mediocre; at its worst, the food is barely edible. This was the case in our last visit in which the chicken in one of the dishes tasted refrigerated, reheated and had an unpleasant aftertaste. The other dish was fine. Booths in this restaurant are too constricted, and they try to pack too many customers in at the same time. Service is good and responsive. Since work events regularly happen here, I know I will return, but I wouldn't choose to come here on my own.
This is a great Thai restaurant! Food was great. Plenty of menu options. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly. There isn't a large amount of seating and the tables are a bit small; especially when you take into account that the condiment tray takes up ~1/4 of the table. If you have a larger build, I wouldn't suggest the booths, because they are pretty small. That being said, there are plenty of condiments on the table! (Fish sauce, jalapeños, soy sauce, spice powder, pepper paste, sriracha, and salt, if I recall correctly.) The decor is pretty nice and place is clean. The noise level was pretty high and they had their system running a local pop station...so a bit distracting as far as ambiance.
It's currently 8:00pm I walk in with my 2 girl 5 and 2 years old and the waiter tells me they're only doing orders to go, even tho they close at 8:30pm. How can you be so cruel to a father with 2 little girls and turn them away
I've been coming here for a while, but I've only ever dined in twice. This time dining in was a good experience, the only thing I'd like to see improve is the drinks being kept full, had to keep asking for refills. I absolutely love the spring rolls, pho, and pineapple fried rice from here. The Pad Thai isn't as great as Sam's but it's ok. If you work on the north side of town and want some good Thai then this is where you can go for it
Even with a party of 4 coming in around the later hours of dinner, the staff were astoundingly quick to accommodate us with seating and food. As in only 10-12 minutes from placing orders to the food arriving, all during an already busy time. The food itself was great as well, though some of us did take it to-go due to the large portion size. I actually still regret forgetting to take the rest of the pad se-ew; it was one of the best meals I've had in Merced. :(
Great food and environment. Jaque was very sweet and helpful with my order

The food was amazing I ordered the pho it was better than other places in Merced
Really good food
My favorite pho in Merced
Amazing food!
Best Thai restaurant in Merced. Food was delicious. Must try spot for foodies.
Very good restaurant, good food, nice environment
Food was really good, decent portions. But $5.50 for a side of rice and $5.95 for a Diet Coke is insanity - more than movie theater prices!
I ordered the chicken pad Thai and the pad asparagus (with shrimp) and added onions. Sticky rice instead of steamed rice. Food is always fresh and service is friendly. We got our food within 15 minutes after ordering.
Did not bag food right broccoli beef way to watered down and leaked threw packaging.

Best Asian food in Merced
Unfortunately the food was not good, we ordered pho and orange chicken both were lacking flavor and over priced
Great food. The chicken wings were worth the trip alone. I had the Thai beef salad and ate everything. Great service too.
Always delicious
I absolutely love the Ped Sa Wan (#69) here! Perfectly roasted duck with a delicious lime sauce on a bed of spinach. I live an hour away from this restaurant up in the mountains and any time I am in Merced I head for Thai Cuisine II to pick up dinner. It reheats perfectly and is so delicious!!
I would have given a two star because of the food but the service was good. Not much meat mainly noodles
The food has gone downhill and the prices uphill. The spinach in my dish I couldn’t even chew. It was so tough in the vegetables in the other dish were bitter the price of the luncheon special, and the dinner were the same with only rice added to the luncheon special. No thanks. I used to love this place. Last few

Went for dinner today and went to pay and the credit card machine wasn't working and the worker was rude and told us cash only but was never told to us before hand and no sign was posted prior to ordering. When we told the worker we didn't have cash they said that there is an ATM machine across the street. When we explained that it was a credit card and not a debit they didn't want to listen and were still being rude. We then asked if they were going to cover the fees since the ATM wasn't for the bank we bank with and was met with attitude. They did said they could write the credit card number down to be charged at a later time. They were very rude with attitude the whole time. I now have 4 pending charges on the card after paying cash
This place is one of my go-to Thai restaurants. I usually get spring rolls and pad Thai, pho, orange chicken, or BBQ chicken. They are all very good and never disappoint the dipping sauce for the spring rolls is especially good.
Very rude worker! We're customers and patrons even after we pay our bill, you can't just take our money and then push us out the door like we're cattle!
We ordered 3 items: wings, green curry, and mussels. The food was good and we were quite happy with the taste. However none of dishes came with rice. A single serving of rice costs $4.50! For a single serving of plain jasmine rice!
That was surprisingly but not a major issue. It was the service. The moment we got in a girl (mid 20s, a little heavy set, asian) was rude when she asked us “do you want to eat here or to go?” No smile, didn’t look happy at all, like she didn’t like like people or working there or both.
After our meal as soon as my brother paid the bill she came to our table and reached for my cup of water as I was trying to get a sip of water and looked annoyed at me. Like she was fed up. Then as my brother was boxing up our leftovers, she with her unpleasant face, didn’t think he was boxing it up fast enough and told him she could do it
Very rude worker! We’re customers and patrons even after we pay our bill, you can’t just take our money and then push us out the door like we’re cattle!
It wasn’t even that busy, they had 3 or 4 open tables. The second we paid, she jumped on our table. We weren’t sitting there talking either, we ourselves were in a rush and had a long drive back home ahead of us
One of the rudest experiences I’ve had at a restaurant. I guess that’s service we get these days from this generation of kids in the service industry.
I love this place, but it seems to be going down hill lately, they need another cook or something...the restaurant is half full, but it took over an hour to get our food, lot of people left. Food was wrong, ordered Pad Phak(stir fry) and got Tod Phak (fried veggies)
Going to try another place and compare.
But sad, because the food when done correctly is amazing
It is 5 stars for eating in. Can place order over the phone without handing card number over the phone and there is no app to place an order on. I would have eaten here numerous times but for these reasons I’ve only been here once.
I worked at a Thai restaurant for a decade and this establishment has the BEST green curry I’ve ever had! So full of flavour!
Great food very delicious
Just go and enjoy that delicious food.
Overall the experience was good.
We got red curry, egg rolls, and pad see ew. The pad see ew was very non traditional but still delicious. The curry was also delicious but they didn’t ask if we wanted spice.
They have really big cups and its fun to drink out of them. Good service.
Great food and wonderful friendly staff. I love the Thai Cuisine Salad & the BBQ Chicken. My family loves the Pho.
Really good food and great service
The food is always terrific
Food is good but waited about 1hr to get the food.
The food is acceptable and what you would expect from a Thai restaurant, which would be ok if it didn’t take so long to get food. Twice, while dining in, we have had a waiter forget our order and we patiently waited for more than an hour until we realized no food was coming. Also, they never answer their phone, if try to call in an order we often have to call 60-70 times because the phone is busy, and three times I have noticed when we decide to drive in to put in our order the employees have just left the phone off the hook. Considering the exorbitant cost for run of the mill Thai food and with more options coming to Merced this restaurant needs ti improve their customer service or it won’t be worth even attempting to get food from them.
Love this restaurant. Still finding my way through the restaurants in Merced. This is one the list of the best so far that I've found. The panang curry is stellar and the plates others in my party ordered looked.delixious as well.
Food is always delicious, live in turlock and the places here do not compare so i have to drive down to merced.
There was some cucumber in the dish I ate, and with that sauce, it was one of the best things I've ever put in my mouth!
We were large crowd and they handled with ease. No complaints from anyone.
Fue mi primera primera visita a ése lugar, y me encantó la comida la atención
I've been here several times since they're fairly consistently good. Today was the exception. I ordered pad Thai to go and was told on the phone it would be 25-30 minutes. I arrived after 25 minutes and was told it would be another 10. I checked in a few more times and finally, 55 minutes after my phone call ordering it, I am told "They're making it now." If I hadn't paid over the phone, I would have left 20 minutes ago.
Very bad customer service, especially the front desk guy with tattoos on his arms.
Really good
Food is good but this place is way and I mean way over priced they charge almost 5 dollars for a fountain drink..which is the highest we have seen it in town..don’t recommend going here just from the price stand point alone there are many other Tia places in town with fair and reasonable prices that stay true to the mom and pop prices..the place by Raileys is a way better choice for food and prices and supporting small businesses not people that over charge because there close to the college and get college kids in…
Amazing parang curry. Nice place
Extremely expensive and unaccommodating staff/owner. (My waitress was sweet) I ordered my food and asked if I can get a Thai tea. 10 min later my food came out but I hadnt received my tea. I waited til I was almost done with my food (trying to be patient) before I asked my waitress when my tea can be expected to come out. She apologized and brought it out. By that time, we were done with our lunch and I asked if she can pack it to go. She brought it back and I really didn’t like the taste. It was watered down and I assume maybe because it was sitting out awhile since it took some time to come out. I told the waitress she can take it back because i just didn’t like the taste. She said she can ask the manager. She came back and told me the manager said no and that they cannot remake it either. I went to the register and was given my bill only to realize my Thai tea was a whopping $8.50!!! I was in disbelief. I asked the manager myself if it can be removed from my bill - you would think she’d do that for me considering It came out at the end of my meal - and it was extremely watered down. She said no can do, and also couldn’t remake it for me. I told her I will not be paying for the tea, and let her know once it is removed, I can pay for my dinner. She then called the owner and the owner said remove it but never return. I laughed thinking “now why the hell would I ever come back here!” I will say waitress was sweet - manager and owner not so much. Extremely greedy. I told my waitress I am so sorry you have to work for owners like that.
good bar)
Great food and bar, large menu as well. Totally recommend
This place is awesome! We had the salad rolls, prah ram and pad see ew. Every dish was great. A new favorite place.
First time dining here. Food was amazing! Staff was friendly and service was quick. Will dine here again.
Order a thai curry to go. Horrible packaging. My curry was wrap up in aluminun foil and spilled everywhere. Rice was soak. Curry was super liquidity (water like liquid) and the taste was disappointing. Your food tell me a lot about your resturant! Next time, no thanks!
The food is good but the service is horrible, called to place multiple times no answer Will order from somewhere else.
Haven't been here in a while. Last time I was there I had a boba drink and I was told they haven't offered that for years. Ordered chow mein--the noodles seemed a little too wet, not sauteed enough. Won't order that again.
Delicious food and awesome service
I can’t resist their soup noodles , been coming here for couple of times for the past 2 years.
Edit: My wife tried to take an order from you guys but someone hang up on her, the services you provide to the customer is getting bad. I used to like this place now i am giving you 1 star review. I will just look for another restaurant that provide a good service.
While the service was quite good, the food was disappointing. I ordered the Pad Grapao with beef My son ordered the same with chicken. My husband ordered the Massaman Curry. We also got an order of spring rolls.
The spring rolls were more akin to vietnamese spring rolls with the sticky rice wrap. Though well made and beautifully wrapped, I am not a fan of of this type of spring roll.
The pad grapao was a little bland, very watery, lacking in spice, but a little too fishy and bitter. The over-use of watery vegetables drowned my plate, cutting out a lot of flavor. Thai food is normally packed with a robust flavor and spicy, the chili sauce should be minimal and thicker, usually a little on the oily side. My son said the chicken was slightly better, but this is the first time in a long time that I left half my food on the plate, instead of boxing it up.
The Massaman Curry was passable, but my husband's only comment was that he had better. I sample it and I gave it the "edible" stamp of approval.
Perhaps some of their other dishes are better, but I will be going to the other one.
Really bad customer service.. went for my birthday 4 kids 6 adults only saw our server when he took our order and when he brought our food out. had to ask someone else for utensils and no refills. At the end they charged 15 % gratitude so sever got a 40 dollar tip for just taking our order and bringing out the food must be nice.
The food was great, and my favorite is the pho. The prices are okay, and I like their service.
I picked up a order to go and wasn't given one of the items I ordered. Customer service was by far what I would of expected. Follow through with what you tell the customer. I won't be returning to this establishment.
Excelente ubicación, delicioso sazón, buena atención y porciones muy vastas.
Amazing food, fantastic service! Can't wait to try again!!
I waited an hour for my food, this place deserves no stars at all, too bad that option is not allowed.
Delicious pho, some of the best broth I've ever had.
We love their spring rolls, satay chicken, pork fried rice and beef yum nuer nam tok.
Service exellente food was delicious 😋
Very friendly and family atmosphere. Definitely recommend 👌 👍
The waitress today was very rude. Not sure if she was having a bad night or what but very disappointed considering I love this place. No reason to take it out on our table. She wasn’t wearing a name tag either.
Food was great. Service, not so much. The waitress did not ask us even once if we needed anything else after we ordered.
This place has good food but due to my most recent visit I had to lower the score.
I went in for dinner and the overall service was horrible. As soon I went in I noticed the staff was disorganized. It was pretty difficult getting someone just to take my order. Once my order was placed I waited about 10 mins before another server approached me to clarify the meat I wanted. I stated chicken and off he went. Then 30 mins later I called over a server to see how much longer the food would take. Their response was as follows; "Oh um I dont think its ready...I can check again....Actually let me put in that order for you right now". I was so confused and disappointed at the same time. I waited a few more minutes just to give them benefit of the doubt. But then I saw another (2) tables which had arrived way later than me get their meals.(They were larger parties and ordered similar meals to mine) I knew at that point I wasn't getting my food. So I left.
Great thai tea though.
Food is good and loved the Cucumber salad.
Food is always bomb here, I always get the spring rolls and number 22. Never a miss.
We eat at Thai Cusine at least once every 2-3 months. We love Thai Cusine over any other Thai restaurant. The staff there are always very pleasant and efficient. I always call in my order because I know it is going to take at least an hour which I am ok with. Unfortunately my last visit was not a pleasant one. I called in the order. 45-60 minute wait. I show up at 1 hour 5 min. 1 item still not ready. They have me sit and wait (still ok with that) they were busy. 20 min later nothing. I go to counter to ask. They have no idea I've been waiting. They check the table in the dinning area and my order is sitting there. For how long I DON'T KNOW. I followed there instruction to wait and when my order was finally ready you don't notify me? I think it is a flawed system and they need to figure out a more efficient way to handle with to go orders.
We waited at a table for a very long time before being helped. The drinks too way too long so we left. Prices were pretty high for bad service.
The food was delicious, came out hot and flavorful. Customer service was okay too, five stars cause it was really good food. Recommend getting the Thai tea it's great.
Food very good
Went in to have dinner with my family, while waiting to be seated we seen a cockroach crawling on the ground, so gross 🤮 we turned around nd walked out… Will not be going back there again…
First time here & last time ever. Went around 1pm. Their weren't many people inside and yet it took them forever to come take our order. We got our main dish b4 our appetizers. This is like a tourist place lol. It's cater more to non Asian ppl which I can't blame them lol. But if your looking for good pho and more authentic Asian style, there plenty around town and way better price then this place. But it clean inside and nice location but parking spot are small so big cars don't go there. Happy holiday!!!!
A little over priced, the food was just ok.
My bf and I are from out of town. We came to try this restaurant upon a recommendation from a friend. First time experience, bad customer service, wait time is long. I don't know how did it get a 4.3 rating. If you want good service, take you money somewhere else. Wait time is over 45 minutes wait. Foods is barely ok. Waste of time! Never coming back.
Great tasting Thai dishes. The portions are fantastic. Love this place!
Great food but what a joke of workers that they hire. Maybe it starts from the top. Don’t bite the hands that feed you kiddos. I won’t be spending another dollar here.
Only good for chicken feed, maybe I ordered the wrong thing.
Portion size to cost ratio is definitely on par. Food is divine. Bring your family and friends. You will not be disappointed.
Great food
Awesome food! Next to a bar! It's great!
Excellent food and service gets a lil busy but worth the wait.
If you work on the north side of town and want some good Thai then this is where you can go for it
Was a little disappointed, went on date night with hubby and were the only 2 customers to be seated with about 3 or 4 tables yet open but was told that it would be an hour wait because of online orders, as they were 1st come 1st serve online and in person for all customers. So I asked once the restaurant emptied out more would we still be competing with online orders and server did not know how to answer me. Food has always been good here but I think management and service is questionable now.
Great variety of Thai food and pho. The place is well kept. Theres often a line of one or two people, but that's for good reasons. The food is great and customer service doesn't disappoint.
If I could give less than one star I would...... 45 minutes waiting to be served, quality of food is so so but sizes is for toddlers so order double or triple because is mini sizes, prices high for the quality of food. I ask the server why took so long and she said that is the normal waiting time even the place was half empty. Not recommended at all and not going back EVER....
Great place went in today and ordered chow mein and duck and both where amazing. The duck was juicy and soft:) There was a really nice young server who was attentive and on top of things. Overall great experience. Definitely recommend.
Order mango rice straight fire
Excellent service and good food
Great service and food.
This place is pretty average. If you know what to order, the meals will be decent (pad se ew, papaya salad and tom yum). If you venture out of your nomral order like the Orange Chicken, you'll will be dissapointed. It is the driest and most bland orange chicken you'll ever encounter. Panda express is far superior to the ones here. Another dissapointment are their pho, curries and bbq. It is Merced and you shouldn't expect it to compare to LA or Bay Area.
This Place is Overrated. Their food is Very BASIC and lacks food quality taste. I've been to lesser credible Thai Places that Excell above and beyond taste and is far less inexpensive. Some Food Items here are far less superior than to Panda Express (food items comparison)... overall, don't waste your money here.
This was the second time my wife and I stopped by here, butthis time we left without being served. The first time about a month ago we waited for about 40 minutes, ok it was during lunch time but we only ordered simple lunch dishes. This time we waited over an hour without being served, people came behind us got their food well before we reminded tbe waitress... hard to convince us to come back again, terrible experiences.
We had a very yummy dinner tonight! Thank you so much!! ❤
Always good
They R Soo Good 🍜🍜
Try the crispy tofu
Love their food!! Great price!
Took over 15 minutes for the waitress to came to my table to ask for drinks. Waited for over an hour for my food. No refills on my drinks even though I asked them twice. No plates, silverware and napkins. Food got cold really quick when I finally got a plate which it wasn’t even mine. REALLY BAD SERVICE. Waitress had to retake my order after an hour of waiting. After 20 minutes of more waiting, they still couldn’t find my ticket. People who got there after us, got their meal and were eating when we walked out. Just got tired of waiting and walked out. AND I still had to pay for my drinks. What a joke!!!
This was my first time going here but I will definitely be going back. When we arrived (party of two) we were greeted by staff with a Hi and a friendly smile and told to take a seat wherever we liked.
It took less then 10 minutes for staff to come to our table and ask if we wanted any drinks, we ordered and she left. When she returned, we ordered our food. This consisted of one dish each and a plate of rice that we would share.
Now this is where they lost a star! It took over 30 minutes to get our food and although it was still warm and very tasty, that was just way to long. Also the staff didn't come to the tables and say, sorry for the wait or offer us a second glass of Soda or Water!
Nevertheless the food was great!😋 So go check them out and don't miss out on a great food find!😊
Combination Pad Thai & Combination Pho ❤❤
Professional and very friendly.
Delicious crispy egg rolls. Chicken in the green curry is SO DRY and barely any eggplant is in this dish. Sticky rice is delicious.
The food is always good but the pick up service is not good. Ordered online, showed up at the time I was told to and after waiting 10 minutes I was told it would be another 10-15 minutes. Basically it took 45 minutes to get a pick up order.
Both Thai Crusines in merced are excellent in service, food and covid protocol.
Their pad Thai is literally always the bomb. We went there two days in a row and it was so fire! The wait is a little long for dine in but totally worth it because they have good service and amazing food!! They made our re-do Valentine’s Day worth it!
You could feel the welcome soon as you walk in all ways being asked if everything is good food is brought to you nice and hot I'll definitely go back and order again
Very bad customer service more then twice have they messed up my orders by phone 😡😡
The food quality is mediocre at best. The service is inconsistent: sometime bad, other time very bad. What really turns me off is the owner's attitude towards food safety and sanitation at this restaurant. I would not want to risk my health at this restaurant, despite all those five-star reviews, which I am not so sure about their authenticity.
Great food! 10 times better than any other place in Merced!
Best thai food in and around Merced, they don't skimp on their servings
Great food and amazing bartender
Love the satae chicken, orange chicken, rice, pho, everything here is good
Good
Food is delicious and staff is wonderful.
I love the price for the amount of food given. Generous portions. Most entrees can be shared, super quick take-out times, and AMAZING THAI ICED COFFEE. Favorite is the Pad Thai combo, medium spicy. Will make a drive out here for their food.
Everything was delicious
The food from Thai Cuisine II is the best Thai food I have had in any Thai restaurant outside of Thailand itself! I travelled to Thailand many years ago and this is the only Thai restaurant that has exceeded all expectations; truly comparable to great Thai food I experienced in Thailand. My mother and I immensely enjoyed the pineapple fried rice, and the yellow curry chicken. The portions are very generous. The staff is very friendly, and professional. My mother and I would highly recommend this restaurant, and are looking forward to enjoying this delicious Thai food again soon.
I love this place. I come from out of town just to eat here. Sometimes they are so busy and with reason. The food is gr8 here. I dont have any complaints.
Everything there is good.
I don't know what happened to this place but it has been horrible the last two times I've gone there. The service is atrocious. I went there and there were several tables with dirty dishes on them. When I walked in a girl told me to write my name on a list. I waited for quite a while before I was seated. I told the three women that were working that there were several tables without patrons they just needed to clear off the dirty dishes. One of the gals said "We're too busy." I should have walked out then but I continued to wait. When I finally was seated and they took my order I had to wait a long time for my order. When I finally got it, it tasted HORRIBLE! It stunk like it was rancid and it tasted like it was rancid as well. I told the waitress that I didn't like the food and all I got was a bill for almost $20. I paid for the food BUT I am NEVER, EVER going to that place again! It used to be such a great restaurant, but sadly it has gone down the tube.
Our food look really nice today, however on my duck had too many hair on the skin, also the service was kinda rude today. I guess the owner sat next to me and bring me the chopsticks I need. He is a really nice guy.
Incredibly long wait for your food.
Food not great, some staff are arrogant
Been coming for a few years, good vibes, food, and crew. Plant based friendly and they substitute things to meet your specific needs. Just a good spot
Excellent!
