Very great food for an affordable price! The Pad Thai was delicious with a plentiful serving size! Definitely will be returning here for lunch in the future!

Me and my husband have been getting takeout from here for over 4 years! It's literally our Friday/Saturday night dinner. Food is so good and I appreciate their many vegan options that I can enjoy! My absolute favorite meal is their tofu drunken noodles and tofu tod appetizer. However lately I've also been trying their tofu panang curry and rice which is just too good to resist! They unfortunately don't do dine in anymore since the pandemic but it's okay because you can call in your order over the phone to go pickup pretty quickly after and honestly they have excelled with this new way of service!

I was craving some Thai Food. I ordered the Green Curry with shrimp and white rice. The shrimp were plump and juicy. I also ordered the Vegetarian Egg Rolls. The peanut dipping sauce was really good. Everything was bursting with flavor and fresh. After ordering online my food was ready in 10 minutes for pick up and the cashier was friendly.

My husband and I tried Thai Lao 78 for lunch today. I got Moo Thid and he got Green Curry. Absolutely delicous!! 2 thumbs up! Best Green Curry I have had, yes I sampled his! :) I never had Moo Thod, so pleasantly surprised. They have two new customers for sure! Outstanding!

I've never had anything I didn't like here. They know how to cook Thai flavors and Vietnamese flavors very well. Their menu is also expanding with more curry and noodle dishes. The portions are also huge. I always have to request a to go container. This place is a hidden gem in Converse.

Update: the several times I’ve been in the past year the food always tastes different, off, almost flavorless. Portions were smaller, prices higher… I’m not sure if they have a different cook now, if it’s under different management or what but the food is not as good as it was years back. A shame really.

This place is amazing, I love their food! I usually order shrimp friend rice Thai spicey or their shrimp Pho with their oil chili sauce and never disappoint!!

Tried this place while I was on orders with the military. Looks to be a couple running the store. They were so nice and the portions I received was huge. The food was very tasty and I was left satisfied. I would visit again. NOTE: they no longer have a dine in option. It is take out only.

This is my one stop shop for vegan meals!!! Tofu soup, vegan spring rolls, and the red or yellow curry with tofu all are AMAZING!!! I would try more… but I LOVE these too much!!!

This was my first time coming here past by a few times dropping off package and decided why not. Man when I tell you I was blown away the coconut curry and the Thai tea was amazing. I truly never had such a unique flavor experience ever plus on top of that friendly environment and the cash register attendant was super friendly and knowledgeable. If I could give 10 stars I would definitely worth stopping by and the prices are fair! In this day and age that's so rare lol.

The food are very good and the portion is very generous. The owners are very nice and they remember what is my usual order. The ingredient is fresh and good quality. I highly recommend this place. I hope that the owners could find more help and open the dine-in service soon. It is just two of them running this place and they try their best to provide the best food and service. So if they are busy please be kind to them.

This was our first time eating here. Ive been looking for a good Japanese curry and they offer it. It was excellent.the pork was thin but good. The service was excellent. It was the end of the day they looked tired but still hard at work. If you love a good katsu curry get it here.

Frozen vegetables and shrimp in the Yakisoba. Pho broth was bland but Thai basil and bean sprouts were plentiful. The Vietnamese spring rolls are completely overpriced imo. I feel for $40 for 2 people, we could have gone to a much better restaurant. If you were to ask me, I would rather go to any of the numerous oriental restaurants along Walzem and Eisenhower over this place.

I use to order delivery from them at least 2-3 times a month because I loved their food so much. They have now made the dumb decision to not offer delivery because a few orders weren't delivered by door dash or something stupid. Now they are gonna lose out on who knows how much service because they don't offer delivery in the year 2023. 1 star until you start offering food delivery again.

Great food but lousy service. We ordered at 7:30, arrived at 7:50, and one hour later we were still waiting for our food. We were first told 20-25 minutes for the order and after we arrived, every 15 minutes we were told 10 more minutes.

Asked for Orange Chicken, fried rice, and Lo Mein noodles. Was given plain ramen noodles, regular rice, and “orange chicken”. If you don’t have fried rice or lo Mein noodles say you don’t have that and offer what you do have. Absolutely terrible communication skills.

Extremely rude. Poor customer service. I called to place a nice sized order for carryout. I am new to the area and I had a taste for some Thai cuisine. After calling three or four times, a woman finally answered the phone and she was very impatient and tried to rush me off of the phone. She kept saying "I busy! I busy! You hurry up!! I busy!!" during my entire phone call. I was placing my order and giving her my name and phone number and she was very unprofessional and disrespectful. If I am calling your restaurant to place an order and pay you my hard earned money for your food and services, have the courtesy and respect to take an order. This place may have good food, but I'll never know. Rude and unprofessional. There are plenty of other Asian people in San Antonio who know how to conduct business properly. I will give them my business instead.

The green curry is my go to and it is the yummiest at Thai Lao 78. The spice is incredible, the layered flavors are delicious, the texture is creamy, warm, heaven in a bowl. The portion can easily be two meals. The vegetable spring rolls are crunchy on the outside and creamy, soft on the inside; with a spunky peanut dipping sauce. I love how they put holes in the to go container to keep them crunchy fresh! And my kiddo loves to play and push out the edamame from the pod, it makes dinner fun and healthy. Thank you for being the best in town!

This is a great family owned business. I've tried several things here and my favorite are the Vietnamese egg rolls and the yellow curry. These folks are great people and low reviews for service are a low blow. Y'all are doing great and your food is fire. Definitely a neighborhood gem.

I came here for the first time due to good reviews and I'm so glad I did! The food is so good!! They give you a lot and the flavor is just right. I ordered the chicken and shrimp fried rice and cheese rolls. I waited about 20 mins for my meal and spent $17 for everything. I think I got a pretty good deal. Definitely recommend for you to try.

Bought over $50 of food for my family visiting. Arrived at the restaurant at the time the pick up was projected for and had to wait even though the lady had my order and was talking unnecessarily. The food I received was all cold and oily. All the food was salt and inedible and might have been left over food for the taste of it. The beef and broccoli was like a salty soup with no veggies, all broth, and little beef. The pad see ew noodles was jelly like and nasty. The fried rice with beef was greasy and had only a couple of small shredded pieces that tasted mostly like salt.
This experience was just embarrassing and disappointing.
Update: DO NOT BRING YOUR BUSINESS HERE. The lady got upset because I wanted a refund on her nasty old salty food and more upset because I wrote an honest review about her restaurant. Don't trust these reviews for this place ! She tells people to leave only good reviews for a refund. If you leave reviews "that's no good business for you and no good business" for her.

This place doesn't care about wasting your money and is aggressive toward customers when it's their job to make food right. Also she says she refund me for the food but I only got a partial refund for 1 out of 3 of the meals that was gross.

I ordered the Pho and Bangkok fried rice, both with beef. Both dishes were delicious, ready within a reasonable time, and have peaked my interest in trying more of the menu! At the time dine in is not available, but you can still walk in and place an order to go.

This little spot is close to us so we have become regulars! The Pineapple chicken fried rice is our favorite!! Great portions! Hubby and I usually split it and have potstickers. I also enjoy the PHO. Great flavor!! Need to try other dishes too but we enjoy our regular so much. Maybe one day.

Is it possible to give negative stars? Based only on their “service,” not food:

In the short time I delivered to a customer (2 miles down the road), sauce had leaked out of their styrofoam containers & THROUGH the plastic bag.

When I returned to (calmly) explain what happened, they immediately became ugly & unprofessional- accusing me of mishandling an order that was simply in the front seat.

Bottom line: if you don’t want sauce everywhere AND BE BLAMED FOR IT, request triple bags for any food to go.

Another favorite for Thai food. They also offer Chinese food if you prefer. Small place, closed to dine in, which is what we usually do. Kai yomg (sp?) and orange chicken with thai tea oh so yummy! 😋 We ordered on the phone, ready 10 minutes later. Give them a try you won't regret it. 😉

As a connoisseur of pad Thai, I am always on the hunt for pad thai when I move to a new city. Tonight I paid $13 for a Generous portion of noodles. Being asian myself, I was delighted to taste authentic ingredients I haven’t been able to find anywhere else since most places cater to American tastes. Everything tasted fresh and was DELICIOUS. I drove across town for this tonight and will keep doing it!

It's been hard to find a good Thai restaurant close by. We stopped in and ordered the sampler and miso. It was pretty good. Miso was kinda bland may just be me tbh. Went back a few weeks later and ordered the combination fried rice with shrimp/chicken and sampler again. Spring rolls where ehh, and aside from there being only one or two shrimps in the fried rice it was amazing! Everything tasted as if it was freshly made. I will definitely be a repeat customer and try out what else they have to offer and will be getting the chicken fried rice minus the shrimp next time around. But definitely will be going back.

The ramen and bun beef noodles were terrible. The beef was flavorless, the ramen broth tasted extra bland. We also had a few appetizers that were meh. And the food ended up making me sick.

Live nearby; this used to be a Dickie’s BBQ location, now Thai Lao 78. Currently, no dine-in due to COVID. First time, take out. Food was very good. Had Thai Crispy Egg Rolls (4) appetizer, very good; Massaman Curry with Chicken and Shrimp over rice was great! and Pad See Aw with Chicken was also very, very good! I will order and eat from here again soon and based on our initial meal, would recommend you try their food as well. Very good!

Howdy! all Thai FM 78 loyalist like yoda from Star Wars states " You will see...." how good Fa she is the woman behind the counter or kitchen with her husband and family. Awesome! respectful people that make our favorite type of meals. I gotta say been going to this spot 5 star resturant since they open 3 years ago and never have complained about anything and that's rare for anyone to say that around this side of town Converse, San Antonio, Kirby area. Let me tell you all currys are awesome plain, mild, and hot. The combination rices beat China Express and Wu's even though they are located on FM 78. I would recommend all appetizers the cheese rolls, egg rolls, and potstickers. Anyone who hasn't tasted Thai or never been here I can honestly say you will never go back to any other resturant than here. The food is so well made and delicious. The staff for being a small family business running it treat you like a human not just no one like going to drive thrus around here in the area. The prices are good can not complain for the food and quality you get in your to go plates or resturant plates. Go ahead and try a bit of everything and like I said "You will see" How good and delicious this food is and Fa the owners first name will treat you good like she treats my family when we order to go or eat there very good and nice. Worth every last penny and dime you spent here so don't hesitate come and visit the real 5 star resturant in this side of town all others in my opinion are lacking Thai FM 78 flavor and service. Ordered Shrimp and Chicken Pad Thai....not sure what type of sauce was used but it was super sweet unlike traditional Pad Thai. There were literally 2 shrimp in each box of Pad Thai. I also ordered one of the plates spicy and just ended up with red pepper flakes sprinkled on top. It was not spicy at all. The chicken was also rubbery. Definitely a lack luster experience.

My friends who love Thai food said the food was excellent, they ordered stir fried veggies with Chicken and green curry. My wife had the orange chicken and she was raving about it.

Been in this area a short time and first time ordering, the food was cooked to perfection. We ordered the Moo Thod with Pork, Red Curry with Chicken, and Thai Crispy Egg Rolls. We like the fact that Thai Lao offers a variety of Asian food from countries within Asia. We will definitely return again and again.

Everything from the tell me I'm soup to the yellow curry even the fried tofu appetizers are delicious and packed with so much flavor they make it so easy to place an order you can call in going or even text it! The staff is always friendly and could always recommend the perfect dish for whatever you're in the mood for if you're looking for and you place this is definitely the one to try

Finding this restaurant was a wonderful surprise. They made me the largest spring rolls I'd ever seen and they were fresh & delicious. Because I hadn't expected much I only ordered a pineapple fried rice to go with them but that was also a pleasant surprise. If I ever find myself on that side of San Antonio again I will definitely be back to try more of their dishes.
