The service was quick and everyone was so friendly and consistently checking in on us. Didn’t get a picture of the Tom Yum soup because we were so hungry but it was perfect. Had to write a review about the Khao Soi because it’s the best I’ve ever had in my life. Just the perfect balance between the richness of the coconut and the spice of Thai chillies (I ordered it hot). It was so good my partner preferred it over the pad Thai he ordered. We were on a long drive from San Diego to SFO, very much needed of a comforting food with vegetarian options! It served all of it, every food was delicious and they were able to customize it to our taste n likings !!

They're very busy even on weekday evenings, shows how popular this place is. We ordered Spicy Drunked Noodles and Mixed Vegetables with Tofu. Both the dishes were delicious and were customized to be Jain, no Onion no Garlic.

The service was good, and the food came fast. I see they have a lot of to go orders which is good. I like the inside decoration with a lot of greens of nature. The food was not bad but salty. Pineapple fried rice was too wet. Highly recommend eggplant tofu dish we ordered 2 in fact. The pad Thai was very salty, the massaman lacked coconut flavor, not sure if this one had it as part of the recipe, in which case, it was a bit thin. Calamari was are decent and so were the veggie rolls. Portions for the papaya salad could be bigger. Over all, 3.5/5 but I’ll round up

Friendly staff, great service, pleasant atmosphere. Food is mostly good, especially the Pra Ram, Pineapple Fried Rice and Chow Mein (thanks for having Chinese dishes since there are no Chinese restaurants in Atown). But a couple things are preventing them from getting 5 stars for food. One is the tempura which instead of a light fluffy batter like you would get at a traditional Japanese place, here it is hard and crunchy like something from a county fair. But the biggest issue is the Pad Thai, which is very bland as if there are not enough authentic flavors being added. Their Pad Thai used to be really good but a few years ago it changed and - not sure why - and hasn’t been the same since. Definitely go and decide for yourself; still lots to enjoy!

Pretty tasty "Pad see yew" - rice noodle can be ordered with tofu and eggs for vegetarians.
Ask them not to put Fish-sauce which only adds salt favor. $13 lunch menu has less rice noodles as it comes with rice, soup and salad. Good value.
$15 for dinner menu Pad see yew- it has more rice noodle with no sides.
All curries have fish sauce which probably can't be taken out.

This is one of, if not the best, Thai Restaurants on the Central Coast!

We ate here on a weekend during the middle of the day while the temperature was 112F outside!
Initially we ordered to go since we were on our way to Santa Barbara from The Bay and we had our dog with us.

After we received our 2 orders of the Short rib rice bowl and fresh shrimp roll, instead of continuing with our road trip. We decided to just eat inside to stay kool While one of us waited in the shade , since pets are not allowed inside or in the alfresco area.

So we sat down at an empty table and began to eat. One of the staff members came over to us, with an attitude. To notify them if we change our minds about dining in. What difference did it make?

The restaurant was not full. There were only 4 tables with customers on one side of the restaurant. Also, she didn't even ask if we wanted anything to drink.

Was it because I didn't tip for our take out order or that we changed our mind about where we're eating our take out?

Whatever her problem was, we're glad that we don't live here. We gladly will take our business somewhere else.

Had the Thai elephant duck. Food was excellent, service was excellent. Would definitely go back if I’m in the area again.

This is my go-to Thai place in the area, whether you order takeout, or you dine there, the service and food are always excellent. So very delicious, and very consistent in quality and execution. My favorite is the drunken noodles, but the curries are wonderful too, as well as the soups and all the varieties of fried rice. You can't go wrong. Superb.

The jungle curry delighted with its delicious and slightly spicy profile, while the drunken noodles, unfortunately, fell short with an absence of flavor and an overwhelming amount of oil, making them the least enjoyable noodles I've ever had.

I'm updating my review because while I still feel they're too skimpy with rice, the food is really delicious. I'm on my way to pickup some food and I'm hoping it's good as usual and has enough rice. 🤞

Original post (still true): Every time I get take out from this place they never give me enough white rice for the meal so I just picked up another set right now and asked them to give me another small rice because it never comes with enough and she wanted to charge me. After I was already just charged an extra $7 for getting seafood panang (and if I had chosen any other protein it would have just been included with the cost.) I find this experience to be very deceptive and bad customer service. It ruins the meal. how much does an extra cup of white rice cost? I just paid $70 for 2 meals. This place Is cheap and rude period. we much prefer Gogo Thai, but they were unfortunately, closed today. Go go Thai product is significantly superior as well. don't let the outside appearance of go go Thai fool u, it is better. I hope with holding one cup of rice was worth this scathing review.
Edit: when I got home I opened the rice and it was loosely packed and about 80% full. We did not have enough rice for our meal. We had barely enough for 1.25 containers of the panang (I had ordered 2) and no we did not drench the rice, we use a normal amount. Naturally this caused us all to be cranky and snappy during dinner. Food taste was good but I'm pissed I have to bleeping cook rice to finish the food I bought. Which negates the purpose of ordering out. And of course I don't know how to cook the sticky rice. Everyone is in a bad mood now which is not how you want to spend $70.
Additional edit a couple of days later. Even though I'm still annoyed about the rice, I'm eating the leftover panang (with no rice) and it is very delicious so I'll bump them to 4 stars. If I ever eat here again I will be very aggressive about getting more rice.

Thai Elephant is always delicious! Authentic Thai food with so much amazing flavor! I usually get the red curry! But the pad Thai noodles, and fried rice is always good too! Try a Thai tea too! Can't wait to go again!

Pad thai is good! I would suggest asking for light sauce as it can be really sweet. Food comes out quickly and the service staff is very nice.
We try to visit at least once every other month.

This is literally my favourite and most visited place in SLO county. For real, every single person I brought here enjoys their food and loves their tasteful decorations. This place got authentic Thai flavor upon request (in terms of the use of fish sauce and Thai chili, like that), friendly hosts, a nice patio that suits your family/friend gatherings... You may also consider it your source of ultimate comfort foods :)

Thank you (Thai Elephant Atascadero!!) for adding a bright color to my past 3 years of attending Cal Poly. Now that I've graduated, I will really be missing this place. Pictures were from our multiple visits over the years, and I have... Probably too many of these.

This is easily the best Thai food restaurant in town, maybe even the county. Its very authentic and well made food, the portions are generous and theborices are very fair. 2 people can get lunch for less than 40$ here and leave full (that includes the tip even). Only negative I can think of is that their main searing area can get loud when its full but theres patio seating thats outside covered too and it very nice. If youre looking for good authentic Thai, with quality service and quick prep times you gotta try Thai Elephant.

This place gets 5 stars. Stopped here right before closing on a Sunday. The covered patio put back was wonderful. Beautiful plants and new shade cover. The food was great. Gluten free menu options listed and knowledgeable friendly staff.I had the Thai chili basil chicken and prorations were good and food very tasty. I will come back and recommend.

I love this place just tonight I felt very unhappy about my experience here, I called in for my favorite green curry hot with shrimp and Thai tea, I was told to hurry at 8:20 that my order will be ready cause they are closing soon, then when I got there I had to wait anyways, on my way out I was polite and said thank you have a goodnight and the guy just shrugged it off, I honestly should have gotten a pizza ngl

Ps also was never offered any utensils just idk if I will be back

The Thai Elephant restaurant in Atascadero is a good representative Thai facility serving very good authentic food. I had the Pad Thai with the wide noodles which is my favorite. I can recommend a stop here when in town.

Probably the best Thai restaurant in North County. They do catering for very reasonable price, and the food and service in the restaurant is unmatched. We love going here!

My family always enjoys the food there, and the servers are very sweet. The noise level when it's busy made conversation difficult (and hearing the Server was hard) but we WILL be back!

I normally get the Pad Thai (medium) and I'll tell ya, I love spicy but sometimes even the medium knocks my socks off. I LOVE IT. One of these days I'll have to brave the hot but I dunno! I think the medium is already pretty intense. Great place. Love it. I also enjoy the yellow coconut curry, potstickers and golden fried calamari. Good stuff. Highly recommend

We ordered Kungpao chowmein (10/10)Spicy Fried rice(8/10) and wontons ( Too oily) for me. It is decent place to have your lunch/Dinner. Quantity is good, they do customize with our taste. We picked up the order and it was delayed due to the busy kitchen. Overall food tastes awesome 5/5. A must visit in Place.

It is a beautiful place and very enjoyable

They have really upgraded their decor inside. Menus are still quite outdated and misspelled throughout though. Stellar flavor and menu options. Even vegetarian options!

To sum it up I called for pickup. Had to be like 40 dollar meal. Waited an half hour for food that was ready when I arrived. I asked about my order 2x and (owner?) checked in once. Only to get sidetracked in collecting money from tables(Not actually buss). after and hour I asked about my food a final time. And he hands me a bag he pretended to read 3x while I was there. Then insisted I pay for that meal.
I can only imagine it to be a real nightmare to work there. Decore is pretty dusty, fish tank is murkey (poor fish care), and most the staff seemed to be hiding in BoH.

Service is fast however waitress wasn't wearing a mask. Ordered chicken satay, beef panang curry & Pad Thai. All dishes were pretty good - Pad Thai is on the sweet side. Leftovers the next day brought out more flavors.

Not the first time. They totally messed up my order. I ordered drunken noodles, nothing special. They didn’t bother to come by and check on me until they had my bill ready. Tried to order duck plate with extra duck and was told it was to expensive, I told him I knew it would cost extra. And was told no again, not going to happen

Many wonderful options and absolutely delicious food. Ordered red curry and tried their sweet potato puff appetizer. Would give them 6 out of 5 stars! Lunch specials before 3pm are great deal!
