Authentic fresh-made Thai. Traveling thru WY from Wisconsin, & this was the highest-rated restaurant in Rock Springs - we can see why!
Did “splitsies” with my Mom on the Pad Thai (chicken) & Panang Curry (shrimp). The Pad was strongly sweet with peanut, offset by undertones of scallion. The Curry had plenty of large shrimp & a savory sauce.
Service was attentive & pleasant, atmosphere cozy.
I'm very excited that we finally decided to try Thai Chef 9!! Like someone said, the outside tends to discourage folks from going inside, but my goodness! It's SO good.
I was a little confused with the menu as it lacks description, but I showed the hostess the picture that looked wonderful to me. It was #55 which says "potato ". So I ordered it with beef and fried rice. It was so good, it's like a stew but with a great Thai flavor and hit the spot for me.
My husband had the Green Curry with the seafood combo. It was wonderful, and he said he'd definitely get it again. He did get a little tiny bowl of the Panang Curry to see what that tastes like, and we both loved the flavor. Next time, and yes, there will be a next time, we'll try the Panang Curry with the seafood combo!!
The service was good, the restaurant is very clean and welcoming, the atmosphere is very quiet with no music or any radio. We could actually talk and hear one another.
Why haven't we gone here before???
Thank you, Thai Chef 9, for the great food and service.
And also for allowing us to try a sample of your Panang Curry.
Everything was delicious. We were passing through this place and needed to eat and we loved it. My husband ordered the Mongolian beef and I ordered the basil beef and shrimp fried rice. Definitely worth going to eat here. We ordered take out. But we loved the food. Make sure to ask for utensils or chopsticks.
Thai Place 9 is a true hidden gem in Rock Springs! Don’t let the exterior discourage you from trying it out. The food is amazing! High-quality and great service. Anytime my family drives through rock Springs, we will now stop! Please support this amazing business. FYI- the drunken noodles are amazing!
In town on buisness and wanted chinese food. Outside looks sketch. Definitely thought twice about going in. Menu is pretty pretty basic but let me tell you the food speaks for itself. The minute I heard the cook fire up the wok I knew the food was going to be good. I ordered the Chow Mei Fun and Chicken with Broccoli which came with fried rice. Food is on par with NYC chinese food which is rare around these parts. Only gripe was that I couldn't have more due to leaving town.
This place might be small, but don't let it fool you. Come on by for great food and service. You will not regret a bite.
Some of the best Thai food we've ever had. It was amazing. They accommodated our last minute party of 15 flawlessly with impeccable service. So glad we found this hidden gem. We will absolutely be back next time we're in Rock Springs.
Don't let outside deter you! We had the fried dumplings, veggies rolls , chicken and pork pho. Very good and reasonable price. Recommend.
Very tasty Thai food with great service in a casual dining room. We would recommend the spicy catfish and eggplant with tofu. We were pleasantly surprised to find quality Thai in Rock Springs.
Too much sodium. Pork was very strange texture. Probably should have ordered something else. Tea was good

Get the yellow curry! You will thank me later!
This place is great. I recommend it if you’re in the mood for delicious Thai food.
Open on Christmas!
Thank you for cooking dinner!
Woot woot!
This is easily the best restaurant I've ever been to, the food is phenomenal, the restaurant is clean and comfortable, and the host is friendly and attentive. I ordered steamed dumplings and crab rangoons for my appetizers. Both were delicious. For entrées, I had pineapple curry with chicken, spicy catfish, and pad se ew with beef. Portions were huge, and were NOT compensating. Each dish was absolutely phenomenal. I did not have dessert, but I did get a Thai tea for the road and it was just as good as the rest of the food. Will definately be a regular spot for me for a long time. Definitely reccomend for anyone looking for a bite.
Amazing food we live very close and have eatin here countless times, always hot, fresh, and delicious!!
Ordered pumpkin and mango curry. These were alright. The meat was squishy and slimy. A little weird texture. Curry flavor was ok.
Ordered 2 meals chicken and broccoli cashew and beef with veggies. The sauce was a slimy almost gooey texture. Veggies were good but the sauce was not good. I've had legit Thai in many places and was not looking for a slimy Chinese style sauce in my thai food. Was hoping for good food. Its rock springs I guess.
This place is great! Fresh food, well made and very close to authentic. One of the better restaurants in RS. Service was friendly and well done.

Trash don't order pho it's not pho and he charged me 10 for 2 sodas

Food was delicious, service was good atmosphere was very quiet no music it kind of felt like we were in someone’s home getting served a meal which was pretty cool definitely would have loved it more if there was some noise though! (might just be the inner New Yorker in me) overall would recommend if you’re passing through town and want to stop for a quick bite!
My very picky 7 year old called the Pad Thai and Drunken noodles “scrumptious”! Very clean and friendly restaurant.
Don’t let the outside fool you. Thai Chef 9 is some of the BEST Thai I’ve had. I live Denver so I’ve had my fair share of Thai. Recommend the drunken noodles! Very very good! And the service was excellent! Very clean
This was some of the best Thai food I have ever had and I’ve had a lot of Thai food. Stopped here on a roadtrip and it was so good that I still think back on their food two years later. I highly recommend!
Worst food ever have no idea how they have such good reviews absolutely terrible.
The place is very run down. The food is great but place needs a makeover or move locations.
Great food. Friendly and polite staff.
Food was SO GOOD! The gentleman running the place was doing it all, sitting, waiting tables, cooking up food, and answering phone! An amazing man who cooks probably some of the best Thai food I have had! Thank you sir!
Ok
Beautiful plants and delicious food! Well worth the stop on our way to Yellowstone
So this is a small Thai restaurant in Rock Springs. And the food is excellent! We got the Tom Kha chicken soup which is large enough for 2 or three people. The typical Tom Kha is a thick coconut milk based soup. This was a white broth based soup and it was very refreshing and delicious. I recommend this to everyone. We requested two small bowls and shared the soup. The beef red curry was excellent with steamed rice. We like it very spicy and on request, the chef made it super spicy. Every bite was a flavor bomb.
This is a must stop for anyone passing through Rock Springs WY.
Perhaps some of the best food in rock springs
Simply the best Thai I've had in a long time. Drunken noodles were so good full of flavor. Yellow curry so good. Everything was so yummy.
There's great as the service was, and as nice as my waitress was, the Thai basil was average at best. It was bland, and seems to have a bit of a Chinese blend/influence rather than an authentic Thai flavor to it. The pork was a little weird to me, a bit soft and a bit too chewy as well. I would not discourage anybody from eating here, because the food wasn't bad, it's just not as that's good or high-quality as what I've had in New York, Dallas, Seattle, and Brisbane, Australia. I'm not insulting the state of Wyoming, but that probably plays a role in this lackluster experience. ...
Le restaurant ne paye pas de mine depuis l'extérieur. N'hésitez pas d'y entrer. Plats succulents et bien servis. A conseiller.
Very authentic Thai food! Tested so good
Not bad Thai food, but not the best either. We were pleased with our meal, but would not go back either
Spectacular food! We couldn't get enough of this small fabulous restaurant. We went three days in a row not knowing when we would be able to have more Thai food and we would still be going if we didn't have to leave town on our cross country travels.
Stop what you are doing now and go have lunch or dinner there. We could not get enough of the avocado curry, pho, satay, and lettuce wraps. So much to try, so little time!
Thank you for your warm and friendly hospitality!
Amazing food! Great service! Gotta get the Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles)
Salmon and catfish great, unique cuisine, super friendly staff.
I recommend the cashew chicken. The mango and sticky rice was very good.
Very for Thai food. It doesn’t look very welcoming from outside but do take the chance to go inside. It’s worth your time.
Great Asian place. We had the Pad Thai with veggies and the pho with tofu. Both were delicious, the Pad Thai wasn't too sweet, and had a great flavor. The Pho had an amazing broth. Really loved the food would definitely go back.
I'm very excited that we finally decided to try Thai Chef 9!! Like someone said, the outside tends to discourage folks from going inside, but my goodness! It's SO good.

Great food at good prices
Service on point..order red curry with chicken..the curry was fantastic and the spice was great!! But, the chicken..I'm not sure it was even chicken!! Don't waste the money!! Seriously grosssss!
Everything we had was awsome 6 dishes veggies to sea food all delicious
Definitely recommend. If you like Chinese you will love Thai food. Get a Thai tea. Expand your palette
Fantastic food! We were very happy with the service, as well. We visited nearest 5:00 PM and were very surprised to be the only ones there, because the food and service were great!
Food and Service categories get perfect scores from me, yet I was hoping for a cooler atmosphere reminiscent of Thailand itself.
Very good 👍 👏 service and food
This was a real gem! Thanks to the other reviews, we sought out this spot and we were glad we did. My husband ate his whole entrée and I picked up the bowl and drank all the broth from my pho. Reasonably priced.
(Mgmt - Would have liked to have some music playing as it was only us and one other couple, and couldn't help eavesdropping.)
We are traveling throughout the country about 9 months a year. We stopped many Thai places, east coast to west coast.
This place is such a gem!
The food was delicious, plenty enough and the people who own the place are super nice!
Anytime we will drive through we will stop and eat again!
Thank you for your service, you do a great job!!!
We stopped here on a whim and because of the reviews I ordered the drunken Noodle dish with tofu. It did not disappoint! All of the dishes in our party were well received and enjoyed.
Totally did not expect the food to be so good, given the appearance and I wasn’t originally planning to stop here. Probably the best Panang curry I’ve ever had. Super quick service too. I waited probably 5 min and it was ready.
Food was amazing, will be back again and again!
The food is very good, especially the Thai offerings, the restaurant is intimate and the service is great.
Cozy little restaurant run out of an old drive through. Unassuming at first glance but incredible food. I had the Vietnamese spring rolls and the Egg Noodle Soup with pork. Broth was fantastic, meat was so tender it fell apart while picking it up with chopsticks. Service was fantastic and the spring rolls were very fresh. Also very much enjoyed the Thai Tea. Highly recommend. I'll be coming back.
Good restaurant but the menu has changed and recipies have changed.
Me and the family really enjoyed eating here. It was so so good! My kids ate a lot too so it was definitely delicious! The crab rangoons were amazing. The fried rice is so good that it doesn’t even need soy sauce. The veggies are tender annd beautifully cut! The soups are very authentic and tasty. Everything is seasoned to perfection! We dined in and it was scrumdiliumptious! I wish I took pictures but I was too excited to eat.
The Pad Kee Mau / Drunken Noodle was the best I have ever had. We'll be looking for opportunities to return during future trips along I-80.
Healthy food that fills you up.
Great place. Small but the food was excellent.
Very good food here....love their Tom yum soup
Very nice place. Great Thai food.
Excellent food! Stopped in while heading cross country. Ordered Mongolian Beef and Beef Fried Rice
I ordered Massaman curry with chicken for take-out. Very good.
We’ve enjoyed our food every time we’ve eaten here. I especially love the red and green curries. Pad Thai, egg noodle soup with pork, Vietnamese fresh rolls with peanut sauce… everything’s great! And the people there are always friendly and helpful. I’ve been eating gluten free and they’ve been able to tell me which dishes were safe. Thanks, Thai Chef 9!
Great food
Very delicious restaurant! We were on our way from Colorado to Yellowstone National Park and we were on a time crunch and they brought out the food so fast and it was so fresh and flavorful. Thank you so much Thai Chef 9
We first stopped at this restaurant last year when we were on a long road trip cross country we stayed at the hotel next to the hotel. Convenient was this little Thai restaurant next to hotel. The food was amazing ! this year we went on a similar cross-country trip and timed it so we could stop and have dinner and stay at the same hotel. The owner is very friendly, warm, personable she remembered us from a year ago, we had the Tom Yum soup with tofu, excellent flavor and then we had a spicy catfish with vegetables ! so flavorful and very filling for two people. on our return trip, we specifically timed it again so we were there for lunch this time. the owner remembered us. again food is always consistent with flavor. Portion sizes are plentiful told the owner we will be back again next year.
Wonderful to find delicious Thai in a remote place!
Very good Asian food for Wyoming
Yummalicious red curry. Stopped in off the highway for dinner. Completely hit the spot. Will definitely go back if I'm in town at lunch or dinnertime.
Don’t let the exterior of this restaurant make you have second thoughts about entering. 😀 It’s clean, with welcoming hosts to greet you.
My wife had the Tom Kha soup, which was very flavorful and just enough for one person to be full and happy.
I had the Mango Curry with chicken, which is under “Chef Specials” on the back of the menu. It was spectacular! There was enough spice to let me know that I was at a Thai restaurant without being overpowering. With chunks of fresh, ripe mango, the flavor was one-of-a-kind.
We had the mango sticky rice as a dessert. Again, the mango was perfectly ripe, and the rice and drizzle just right.
I would recommend this establishment to anyone passing through!
Place looks really humble but the food is next level. There's only one waitress but it's a small place so it's enough.
Food was good and better than one would think based on the looks of the place. There's only one waitress for the whole place but food didn't take that long to arrive.
Food was good. The waitress couldn’t understand English well at all but she was friendly.
Found this thanks to the great reviews. It was great! Only downside is that the waitress could hardly understand any English even though she was friendly
Although the menu does not give gluten free distinctions they were easily able to accommodate. Vegetarian options always available with Thai food and they accommodated my specific requests.
We stopped here for lunch on our road trip, the food was quick and pretty good. I like the pineapple fried rice the best and they have mango sticky rice! Not bad for a small town in Wyoming so if your craving some thia food give it a stop!
We stopped by on our way to Denver. It was great vegetarian food, and prompt customer service. Thank you for the pleasant experience!
This is a great little place to eat. If we come back through this town again we'll stop I recommend it. I recommend the vegetables. And the mango sticky rice.
Food is AMAZING!
Great stopover! Reviews said food was great, and it was! Didn't have to wait too long either!
I’m so thankful I came in — this is the best Thai food I’ve had outside of Thailand. Service is fast and friendly. Highly recommend the curries! Will certainly be back.
Una experiencia única, recomendable para todos los amantes de los moriscos y comida asiática excelente servicio 👍 👌 👏 y una comida deliciosa 😋 😉
Everything that we ordered was delicious! We’ll be back next time we’re driving though town.
I had the Hot Pepper Beef and Hot & Sour soup. They were spicy and delicious.
Great
Prompt service and very tasty food delivered with a smile. We cleaned our plates and smiled as we left. We would return on a future journey.
My resume with Thai food: I’ve traveled to Thailand for 3 weeks, had Thai food in San Fran, LA, Vegas and New York. This food ranks up there! Great portion sizes and food tasted authentic. We order basil fried rice with chicken and vegetables and yellow curry with beef and vegetables and were very happy with our meal! Then we ordered mango sticky rice for dessert and happy it wasn’t too sweet like many are. We initially just wanted something other than bar food on a road trip and was very surprised to find great Thai food here! Will make it a point to stop here everytime I cross by this direction again!
Camping at nearby Sweetwater Events Center for an Airstream rally. This was an easy drive, and it was exciting to find such an excellent Thai restaurant. If we lived here we'd be regulars!
Delicious!! Quick lunch stop while waiting for our semi truck repairs - had the chicken drunken noodles!! Perfect!! Sweet lady that took our order as well - very pleasant visit all around!
A unique experience in Rock Springs. Our table had a variety of dishes, all good. Spicy dishes were tamed down for the local taste buds, but still very good.
Very tasty food.
Must eat. Green curry to die for.
Really good and unexpectedly fast!
Good vegan options!
Excellent food, and the stage was wonderful. Thank you😊
This was such a wonderful place to eat and clear my mind after being stuck in the road closures. Thank you for such great food and service
Good food and nice staff, the place could use some music though.
Amazing food. Good service!!
Awesome food! We try to eat here at least once every month two, we would come more but we live in Green River. Very nice staff!
Wow great food. Stuck in a storm greatfull for yummy Hot food.
We had to stay in Rock Springs due to an unexpected road closure but this curry made our delay a positive experience. I highly recommend eating here. The curry is the best we've ever eaten!!
They have the best cury
Pretty good food, most recommended!
Delicious food relaxing environment.
I think Nua Ka Ting is my new favorite Thai dish. I've eaten all over the country, and I'm usually severely disappointed, but this was fantastic. I will absolutely be eating here again since I pass through Wyoming a lot, and usually end up spending the night in Rock Springs. The people running this establishment should be proud as hell of the kind of food they're offering up, since it's some of the best I've ever had. Can not recommend enough.
I was passing through town, gave this place a try and was glad I did. I ordered panang curry to go and it was tasty. Good portion, too. It had just the right amount of heat (maybe three out of five chili peppers to go with the usual designation). The woman who took and prepared my order was very kind, warm, and nice.
All I can say is OMG so goood!! And the nicest people ever! Yum!! thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
How did this place end up in Rock Springs?! So damn good. Best drunken noodles I have had in a long time. 5 stars!
Great food and service. Spent the last few months in California and Utah, and not one actually knew how to add some spiciness to a Thai dish, which honestly baffles me. Food here was both soixey and delicious!
I live here in Rock Springs Wy. It's good food......
Bless this place. Vegetables are well cooked and actual spice is in their dishes. I can’t express how happy we are to eat tasty Thai and take a break from deep fried. Friendly staff and quick service. We order tofu Panang curry and chicken pad Thai.
The drunken noodles is one of the best dishes I've ever had! Don't forget to order some mango sticky rice for dessert!
Best Thai food in town. Had it two days in a row for lunch because it's just simply delicious.
Great glass noodles and fast too. Nice place. Stopped here between Denver and Utah and if I make this trip again, I hope I stop at Thai 9
Wonderful! Authentic! Small family business. It was close to closing time when we got there so was not busy. Our waitress was warm and inviting. Made great menu suggestions. The place was clean and well maintained. Service was quick and the food was delicious. Definitely worth a return trip the next time we pass through.
Of the six Asian food restaurants I've dined at in Rock springs, Thai Chef nine is by far the best.
They actually make their own crab rangoon / crab cheese wontons! They are extremely delicate and thin and crispy, unlike the Frozen version that you get at every other restaurant in this town who serves them.
Their Thai curries are wonderfully spiced and flavorful, and filled with vegetables that differ from choice to choice as opposed to lumping all of the same ingredients into just a different sauce as some of the other restaurants in town do.
I believe they also make their on dumplings, as they were nice and delicate and flavorful as well. They didn't seem to be filled with the same homogeneous mix that's made in a factory and served in all of the other Asian restaurants in Rock springs.
This place is really good.
No doubt, this is the best Thai food I ever eat, I can’t believe that I found this place in Wyoming, I I’m a long haul truck driver and I eat everywhere but this place is for sure one of the best Thai restaurants on I80. Thank you guys for awesome service and food definitely coming back again.
Nice decor. Very prompt service.
I was worried I would not like But
it was very good and filling and I had take home.
Not much to look at from the outside, but I'm glad I read the other reviews. We really loved the food, the service was friendly, and the choices were unexpectedly sophisticated and delicious. I did not expect Nua Ka Ting in Wyoming, and the beef came perfectly tender, spicy in proportion to the other flavors, and the fragrance of the fried basil was wonderful. We dug into all the dishes before I remembered to take a picture. The lettuce wrap was very tasty, and the sixth of a head of perfectly fresh iceberg lettuce made a wonderful wrapper for the tender chicken. The mango paradise was tasty, and the mango sticky rice was great. The sauce was warm, sweet, salty, and rich with coconut. It is a family run restaurant, so we did have to wait for some things, but it was well worth the wait.
Had to take a detour from our trip. Glad I took it. I was surprised to have authentic food this good in Wyoming. I will come back here again on my return trip.
Finding plant based food is always hard in Wyoming and was so happy to find some here. The avocado curry was the best I've ever had!
Uno de los mejores tailandeses que Hemos comido, natural y hecho con cariño, vale la pena, muy familiar y casero
Always nice to find a place with vegan options! Especially in more rural places like Rock Springs. Staff seemed a bit overwhelmed with a larger group but handled it well. Curry was exceptional and authentic.
Tom yum soup very good 👍
Fry rice, there to much black paper..
We loved the food and service.
Food was pretty good, service was mediocre. I will definitely give them another chance, maybe it was an off day.
I love Steak Soup!!!
Great Food! The crab Rangoon was ACTUALLY crab Rangoon and not just cream cheese. Everything me and my husband had here was delicious with good sized portions. I plan on eating here every time we come through Rock Springs.
Food was good. Authentic Thai.
Delicious!
Amazing food, only problem on my to go order was no plastic forks!! Haha and I was passing threw
Rude....Good food.
Great food and friendly staff !!!
Exceeds Expectations! It’s a bit sparsely decorated, and in an odd location, but the food here is wonderful, always served fresh even though it is always slow when we’ve been here. The spice level is high, so if you’re sensitive ask for a milder version than will come straight off the menu.
I've eaten here several times now and the service has always been excellent, the food is amazing, and the ambience is quiet and intimate. It is a great place for couples date night. Definitely recommend
Ive only ate here a couple times. However, what the restaurant lacks in decor it makes up for in food. Ive had the pad thai which was amazing. Their dumplings are soooo good and ive had the duck red curry which was amazing. I wish the chunks of veggies were smaller but there was plenty of meat and the coconut red curry is to die for.
The service is below average, but the yellow curry is worth it. Always needing to ask for extra rice, but again, worth it!
Stopped by here on the way to Park City and it was the best idea. Everything was amazing but be sure to get the dumplings and mango sticky rice for apps and dessert!
This is a hidden gem in Rock Springs! We were staying for the night in town and I had low expectations for a Thai place in a little Wyoming town from past experiences. But this blew it out of the water! I travelled around the world including Thailand eating this cuisine and this was exceptional. I had the yellow curry and the Tom Yum soup. The portions were big enough that I was able to take some back to the hotel and eagerly ate it for breakfast. The spices were just right. Nothing too spicy but well spiced if you know what I mean. The Thai iced tea was great and not filled with ice cubes. I will definitely stop here again on my way through.
We were in Rock Springs on business and love Thia food. We were very impressed with this place. We had the Yellow Curry Hot and it was delicious. Ate here three times in the week were here.
I love my Thia Food and we were in Rock Springs on business. We stopped in and picked up the Yellow Curry to go. Wow were we impressed, the flavor and heat were perfect. Definitely will be back to try other dishes on the menu.
Delicious Tom Kha soup!
We had dinner here last night. Wow! I was shocked to have Thai food this good in Wyoming! The Tom Kah was some of the best I have ever had. My pineapple curry with squid was outstanding with the perfect amount of heat. I just can't wait to go back and eat again!
Excellent lunch stop. We had pad Thai, red curry and yellow curry. They were all excellent. Thank you.
I know, I know. Thai food in Rock Springs… sketchy right? Wrong! This place is super delicious. The veggies were fresh. I got the red curry and my dad got the seafood noodle dish. Both were very flavorful. What a gem through a long stretch of driving. I was very pleasantly surprised. Authentic, flavorful and fresh. Worth the stop? YES! Way better than any of the fast food or other restaurants around.
We had chicken pad thai and drunken noodles. These were some of the best thai dishes we’ve ever had! Highly recommend!!
Best Curry I’ve ever had! Food is so fresh.. Highly recommend
