Foods great! Accordingly, the place is constantly packed. Deal with it. But get your food to go. It's not a large interior and there's a constant din. I suppose it's only slightly louder than any other restaurant. The staff moves as quickly as they can, and seem sincere in their apologies when the restaurant is busy. (As if anyone could reasonably blame them for being popular. Ha!)

Any way, food is great. Love the Chashuramen and the Spicy Miso. Have had the dry ramen as well. I was surprised, it's good. Not typical, but still tasty. Get extra sauce.

Menu has changed in 2025! While service and atmosphere are still great, I was slightly dissapointed that they removed my favorite sushi roll off the new menu. Still lots of options and lunch specials.

It's a little loud inside so it can be very hard to have a conversation. But they have phenomenal food. I got the Thai Style Grilled Beef and it was nearly as good as the Asian BBQ I've had out of the country

I am a big fan of Kin and have been many times. I am frustrated with their takeout. I ordered a few rolls and miso soup on a friday evening. I have ordered before and i know they get very very busy on the weekend so i ordered 45 minutes ahead. i arrived and had to wait another 30 minutes for my order and was given the wrong order. Just be aware of busy time and check your orders!

Can’t tell if our experience was a one off, but the sushi was not good, specifically nigiri. It was cut really thick (disgustingly so) and the sushi rice was glutinous - similar to the kind from the grocery store. The people seemed nice and there were a couple of edible things in our order. Most of the good reviews seem to be centered on the ramen and rolls, so maybe they’re not known for good cuts of fish. But we largely threw away a very expensive meal. Even our dogs wouldn’t eat it. For that reason, we won’t be back to risk disappointment again.

Food is absolutely delicious. I love the crispy tuna fried rice and the duck ramen. The staff here are amazing and I’ve always had exceptional experience every time I step foot in this place. S/O to Riya for being awesome!

Amazing service to those with allergies! So hard to find Asian food spots that are so helpful and transparent about allergens. I wanted to order a sushi roll that was fried but my waitress informed me that the frying oil would have cross contamination with nuts so I switched to a delicious fresh roll instead! I really enjoyed the space and service in this restaurant. It was my first time here and I had a good experience. The rolls tasted great, you can tell it was made fresh and our server was kind. I was surprised they actually had a good variety of different sushi as well as non sushi items for those who don’t want sushi. Stopped here for lunch last Friday afternoon, 9/27/24. We was seated right away and they had room outside which was where we wanted to eat. I ordered the Red Hot Ramen with no fish cake and no scallions. Wife ordered some sushi, soicy beef salad, and pad thai. The Ramen was very flavorful but not as spicy as I remembered it being. Haven't tried it for a couple years from here. Beef salad was refreshing with the veggies mixed in. I did not try the sushi or pad thai but my wife said it was great as always. This is her favorite place to eat. The waitress was very attentive and came back out to check on us often. Great spot to hang out and converse over a meal or drinks.

I keep forgetting to take pictures because the food is so good I immediately devour it. My fiancé and I have been here 4 times now and the service, atmosphere, and most of all food is top notch. We both get the ramen all of which are amazing. Also, get the pan fried gyoza.

This establishment excels in delivering good sushi , despite the inability to bring fresh salt water fish to Wisconsin - Don't expect the best sushi in the world in Wisconsin. It definitely surpasses local standards but also in providing a welcoming atmosphere for families. The staff here are exceptionally friendly, adding a personal touch that makes each visit more enjoyable. Their commitment to convenience is evident in their efficient delivery service and a rewards points system that enhances the dining experience. Considering the challenge of sourcing fresh fish in Milwaukee, KIN by Rice n Roll remarkably offers a freshness and true to Asian recipes that really checks the box. A definite must try !

Visited KIN by Rice n Roll again recently, and I’m glad to say it’s still as good as when I first tried it back on Feb 13, 2020. They’ve consistently kept up their standards, offering some really good sushi in Wauwatosa.

This time around, we tried several dishes: the Black Dragon and Black n White rolls each at $17, the Clumsy Bueno for $17, and the Two Nations Noodle for $19. We also added shrimp for an extra $3 and got the Milwaukee roll for $18. The standout for me was the Tom Kha Shrimp soup for $5.50, which was particularly memorable.

The place has a laid-back vibe that’s perfect for a casual dinner, and the staff were genuinely friendly. Spending $123.02 on a meal might seem a bit much, but given the quality and the amount of food, it felt worth it.

I’m looking forward to my next visit. For anyone in Wauwatosa looking for quality sushi, I’d recommend checking out KIN by Rice n Roll.

I’ve always loved Rice and Roll, so I was excited when I found out that they opened a new, larger space in Tosa. Loved the atmosphere here, very stylish and elegant. Food was amazing. Great sushi as expected, but the real standout menu item was the Tonkatsu ramen! The broth was so rich and velvety and flavorful, would highly recommend!

My partner and I stopped in this week and were excited by the menu. We ordered the shrimp and veggies tempura, the Tosa Fab maki, the tonkotsu ramen and Tom Yum ramen. Unfortunately, everything was relatively terrible. The tempura shrimp were burned and the vegetables mush, the maki was somehow both tasteless and off-putting, and tonkotsu broth was, in my partner's words, "some of the worst I've had," and the Tom Yum was just wrong. The highlight--the noodles tasted hand made. The server was attentive and apologetic; we were refunded the tempura, and we appreciated that gesture. I had a hard time putting my finger on exactly why everything was so bad until my partner said, "It's like an AI cooked dinner---it wasn't so horrible, just uncannily wrong." I think that is a perfect way to describe the experience, as if the fusion concept were executed by an AI. In spite of our experience, the table next to us declared loudly that "they probably know us by name by now!" which tells me that folks love the place. Perhaps we're actually AI reviewers with uncalibrated taste buds. Hard to tell these days. Anyway, wish I could say we loved it!

This place is very hurried, cramped, uncomfortable and generally unfriendly. The food isn’t exceptional, and the chairs are some of the most uncomfortable chairs I’ve ever sat on in my life.

The ramen was delicious. I give that 5 stars. But the wings were disappointing. Tiniest things I've ever been served. Barely any meat. I won't order those again... But the ramen was so good, I'll go back again for that.

Wish there was more parking. Had to walk quite a distance from my parking spot to get there.

HEADS UP ON THE RAMEN!! Here is the deal with the Ramen in particular. If you order it ask them to remove the bamboo shoots unless you are a fan of the fermented canned versions. This is not fresh bamboo.
I ordered the Tom Yum Ramen and it tasted great but smelled like a urinal. I have done my fair share of traveling the world, never ran into this problem with Tom Yum or Ramen before. I couldn’t pinpoint what was wrong, but eventually as I ate the bamboo shoots it went from smelling urine to full on tasting it. Yea! Not great! I asked them to smell it and they said it was normal and sour. In my mind, this wasn’t normal. Of course a simple google search revealed that fermented or canned bamboo shoots are very pungent and smell like urine to a lot of people. I couldn’t understand why other reviews kept referring to the Ramen as just “okay,” but this is why. So do yourself a favor order the ramen without the bamboo shoots (they are in every ramen type on the menu) and you’ll have a fantastic bowl! Wish I had known, because at some point I just couldn’t eat around it or stomach it any more. I recommend to the restaurant to have them on the side or just exclude them if they refuse to get them fresh. Americans are certainly not accustomed to that taste or smell. Even the waiter said they had quite a few customers turned off to the Ramen because of this same issue. Why make a fantastic $17 bowl of Ramen and then ruin it?

On the flip side: the Teriyaki Beef Bowl was delicious. The Mango Sticky Rice was on par and the Matcha Cheesecake was a delight. Everyone’s sushi around us looked amazing, although heavy on the rice, so just consider how much rice you are getting with a massive roll.

Every so often you have the opportunity to eat food that is so delicious it teaches you something about food! This is a place where that happens. We had the appetizer sampler (egg rolls, crab rangoon, and gyoza), tom yum ramen, and tofu pad Thai. Everything was delicious. The ramen in particular was a revelation. The broth was so delicious!
If you are in the Wauwatosa area, you should definitely try this place!

We went on a Tuesday... they close at 900p... we probably got there around 815p. It was a little rushed because of our later arrival... Despite arriving towards the end of the night, we were met with fast, friendly and efficient service. The amtosphere is cozy and is for any occassion. The food was fantastic. They have an extensive menu.

Unfortunately a mixed review. We’re big fans of the east side Rice n roll, but this one has been less of a hit. Multiple issues with the food & service comparatively. We were told a 10 minute wait, then 50 minutes later they told us by text it was ready.. they had skipped over us for 6 other parties. Ramen was strangely seasoned, sushi wasn’t cohesive or as high of quality as the price would suggest. Genuinely enjoyed other aspects of the meal, environment, and our server was exceptional.

Family came once from visiting just bc it was the only Thai restaurant close to me on the East Side. Kind of sad to see your own kind butcher their own food. Lil bro liked the drunken noodles though ... but he's a crackhead (joke).

As for sushi, there's really nothing you can do about sushi in mke. Where you gonna get it? Woodmans? Metro? Still, I'm not gonna spend money on that copy/paste sushi with so many ingredients I only taste regret. Note, idk how above average sushi is supposed to taste like.

It is a cozy little restaurant with great food, prices, and portion sizes. The staff are wonderful, and sometimes they get so busy it's best to reserve a table ahead of time even if it's for 4 people. Never had a bad experience, and I keep going back.

Fantastic service and pretty darn good food. We tried the pad see ew and spicy miso ramen. I found the chashu pork in my ramen was a little too non-traditionally seasoned for my liking, but this is not a strictly Japanese restaurant. The servers were all so friendly - I was impressed. We will be back.

One of my favorite places to eat when I'm nearby. Also one of the best places in town for ramen, sushi, and other dishes.
I highly recommend the drunken noodles, spicy salmon roll, and shrimp tempura roll. So lip-smacking good!

I have been eating here and carrying out since kin opened. The food has always been good, especially the sushi rolls. When dining in, I have always experienced great service. Glad this is so close I can walk to it frequently.

Fresh sushi

We had a group of about 8. Server was efficient but unfriendly (tip was included in the bill so maybe that’s why). I got the teriyaki bowl and it was basically inedible due to everything being absolutely drowned in thick teriyaki sauce. I ordered it with tofu and they served the tofu cold, no flavor whatsoever. Generally when you order a hot dish with tofu it will be baked, fried, etc…something! My sister and husband also got the teriyaki bowls with salmon and chicken, and they also found it really bad. Maybe the sushi is great here, I don’t know. I can’t think of why else they would have all these great reviews. However, the Thai iced boba tea was delicious!

Everything was so good and just hit the spot. Josh is OBSESSED with their duck ramen.

Kin is a convenient location for sushi in Wauwatosa. The menu has all the typically expected offerings and the food is very fresh. Prices are on par for neighborhood sushi so no surprises there. The interior space is nice and there's limited outdoor patio seating seasonally.

This will be my go-to place.
